i took professor poetker for ethics of living and dying and i loved her! shes so nice and laid back and really knows her stuff. As long as you do the work you will get an A =)

At first wasn't sure about taking PHIL B12 but she made it so much fun. Great professor and always willing to help. Got an A in the class by just doing the work. Always answers emails, returns phone calls and is willing to talk after class. Highly recommended!

Easily one of my favorite Professors at BC, to the point where I may go out of my way in order to take another class by her. ALWAYS willing to help, always responds to calls/emails, and never fails to make class interesting. I personally didn't use the textbook once, but others seem to feel you can't pass the class without it. Definitely recommend.

Easy class. the only thing that freaks people up was her funeral project either than that it's all easy peasy!Take her class is you ever want to take PHIL 12 She is cool and stuff don't have much work to do I think it should be an easy A or B :P

She is a great teacher. You will learn a lot about medical, moral and ethical issues. Some of her requirements include planning your own funeral but other than that it is a fun and interactive class. It is an easy A if you just put in some effort.

She was a great professor, I'm choosing to take another class of hers next semester. If you do what she assigns you won't have a problem passing. She is very good at explaining the concepts.

This lady is a cutie. She talks WAAAY to much and repeats herself beyond words. Regardless of that her bubbly personality kinda grows on you. She needs to talk way less though but she does teach you a lot and makes you think a lot. I recommend her, her intentions are good. Read the book and do your project. Good luck :) Enjoyable class.

She's an awesome teacher.. if you take her it's an automatic easy A... the only hard thing or the thing that sound hard in this class probably the Funeral Project however it turn out to be pretty easy and fun.. :)

Anna is a wonderful teacher! I did not know a thing about Philosophy but she quickly made it my favorite class. Super helpful and always in a great mood! I took a second Phil class with her just for the heck of it. The work is easy and fun thanks to her and should not be a problem passing. I highly recommend her!! And she's incredibly adorable :)

I loved this class subject to begin with, but Professor P made it even better for me. She presents arguments and rebuttals in a way that lets you think for yourself. She is bubbly, fun, and always willing to help a student out with the material whether it is during class or during her hours. I could not have had a better professor for this class!

Very energetic and funny personality. She is extremely cute hence the chili pepper rating. Her bubbly personality helps you stay awake during class. Allows up to 6 days of absences out of the whole semester. Discussion based class. Textbooks for class are cheap. Easy work. Again, most of the work in class is discussion based. Homework mostly online

I thought I was going to have a boring professor. Man, was I wrong. Mrs P makes philosophy funny! You won't feel bored with her energetic and adorable personality. Sometimes, she loses focus on the agenda, yet you can't help but laugh with her. No problem asking for help before and after class. Most homework in the textbook. Totally recommend :)

She is one of the best if not my favorite teacher at BC. It isn't an easy A just seems like it because she makes it fun. Shes adorable and if you don't like her class you have issues. Highly recommend her for logic you need her book. Second class I've took with her and she did not disappoint! A lot of stuff online but not hard.

I almost dropped my nutrition class this semester which would limit me from taking more class later on. I thought about how much I enjoyed miss P's phil class and how I wanted to take another phil class next semester and that encouraged me to stay! Such an awesome professor, so knowledgable! I loved Ms. P! She's funny and adorable and exceptionally gifted in making philosophy easier to understand. The only issue for me was, she's quite sexy and shapely and jumps around alot. I'm a man yo, it's hard to focus when all that hotness bouncing around! Seriously, I would leave my wife for her.

Class is sectioned into three parts. Buy the books, you will need them. Overall, you will learn from her and this course will help you in grieving/death situations. I know it did for me. Amazing teacher

Ms. P is not one of those boring lecture hall professors. She is passionate about philosophy and knows what she is talking about. She makes it fun and I left the class laughing most days. She is approachable and was very respectful of EVERYBODY'S own philosophies, which was important to me. She is a student herself so she gets it and will help you.

I thought I was in for a stressful class (first college class), but Ms. Poetker soon proved me otherwise. She was very clear, helpful, and made it very easy. She allowed notecards for the exams, which was great. She's always in a good mood and open for questions. She's also very pretty, however, her joyful jumping put us guys in a world of fantasy.

This is my second class with Ms. P because she is the most enjoyable professor I've had here at BC! She explains things so well that it just clicks. It's hard not to understand material. Her cheerful personality makes a depressing class bearable. Quizzes and tests are so simple and straight forward.

Ms. P is awesome, easily one of the best teachers at BC. She loves hearing the opinions of her students, her class is a good mix of discussion and lecture. The structure of the class is very clear and if you do her assignments you'll be fine. Only complaint is that the hw assignments are on Moodle so be sure to log in and get them done. Very fair.

There need to be more people like Mrs. P as professors (and in general). She is a sweetheart. She is funny and beyond beautiful. Her lectures are so fun and soooo helpful. She explains things so clearly and teaches in a fun way.

Ms. P is very funny, and a good lecturer. She has a knack for making complicated material easy to understand. You will never be surprised by a grade you receive; her criteria is very clear. While the subject matter was not easy, the class itself really was. If you always come to class and do just a bit of reading, you'll be fine.

Great Professor. You will have to pay attention and ask questions. U must attend class so u dont get lost!! She is very clear and helpful if you're not clear. Quiz are online... homework is the exercises in book. No writing assigments!!! But you must pay attention!!

Miss P. was amazing, and she inspired me to pursue a philosophy degree. She's very passionate about her subject, and she gets very into it, which makes for fun and interesting classes. We often had homework on moodle, but as long as you attempted to answer the questions you got full credit. She drops the lowest exam score!!

Professor P rocks. This is the 2nd class I have had with her and she is always very clear and willing to help those who do not understand. Logic is a tough subject for me, but she helped keep us calm and collected. Just show up, participate, take notes, do the work, and ask questions. I didn't buy the book, but it would have been helpful to have.

She is an amazing teacher and makes every so easy to understand. She is a tough grader but does provide very useful feedback! Which is always a plus. She gives out the tests in the first 10 minutes of class but is super easy as long as you do the reading. she does this so that students will show up on time. Super nice teacher and is able to help

Ms. P is the best! Unlike the other classes doing the obituary assignment, she assigns a death anxiety paper which was more enjoyable to write. In total there was two multiple choice exams including the final, one written exam about the books you read, and a presentation of a bioethical issue. Fun class for such a serious topic!

There is a weekly chapter reading and one, one page DI. There is a simple quiz that is easily passable if the chapter is read before class. There is a total of 3, 5-6 page papers and 1, 3 page final. The 3 midterm papers are only philosophies covered in the book: the papers are an expository, a compare or contrast, and an argumentative. Not hard.

Great teacher! Her class was really interesting and not hard at all if you pay attention in class. She finds really great ways to paint the picture of what is being said. Fun class and the exams were easy. One of the best teachers i ever had, you will not regret it!

she's one of the best professors I've had. she really knows what she's doing and passionate about this subject. she was inspirational to me. you'll have the first 10 minutes of class to take a quiz on the reading (there's 10); don't be late. the writing assignments aren't hard at all. This was a great classes probably one of my favorites.

Keeping it completely real. Ms. P has to be the best philosophy professor! Shes so good at what she does and she shows her passion for the subject. She uses real life examples. I loved that she involved humor and all her students in lectures. Has some quizzes/tests that are super easy (if you read). TAKE HER CLASS, STUDY, SHOW UP ITS WORTH IT ALL!

The HW and quizzes are super easy, just read the assigned material. Exams are easy if you have read the material and books, because most of the stuff is open book. Her explanation on theories about views on death and living are pretty clear. She wants you to succeed and try her best to help you understand the subject material.

I was really leery of this class at first however professor Poetker made it easy to enjoy because she is very enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about the subject. I loved this class and professor

Took her both for Logic and Ethics of Living and Dying. Logic isn't easy but her lectures are digestible, gives great examples and she doesn't like to move on if you don't get it. She has a great personality, very modest, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her students. I would recommend her for any Philosophy class.

Professor Poetker's class is honestly one of the reasons I enjoy going to BC because her class isn't draining or hell to be in. She's enthusiastic, friendly, and knows what she's talking about. She makes sure students know the material, answers questions well, and is just a great professor. 10/10 would recommend her class.

This was the best class I have taken at Bakersfield College. If I am going to remember anything from a general education course this one has to be it. I absolutely love the lessons this class has taught me. Dr. Poetker makes this class fun and always brings her energy to class and makes students get involved.

Prof. Poetker is one of the most genuine person I've have ever met. I was going thru a hard time at the end of the semester; she was very understanding and helpful. She's beautiful inside and out. Everyone loves her grading, she wants her students to pass, but work for it. Four exams, two papers, easy homework &about ten quizzes; but as long as you attend & focus in class, you'll pass! This professor leaves nothing to question. She sets a schedule and sticks to it. Her lectures are very clear and she is very willing to explain and reviews if anything is not understood. She is also very friendly and easy to talk to.

If you have the opportunity to take her, TAKE HER!! I loved this semester so much and she was one of the main reasons why. This class was so amazing and she made everything we learned about interesting. She is such a sweetheart, and the work is so easy. You'd seriously have to try to fail. Wish i could take her for another semester. Not too much hw

She really cares about her subject. I did not like the subject but she made it very fun and easy to understand. Not strenuous on the workload. Two essays, 4 exams, 11 quizzes, 15 hw assignments but she drops the lowest score on all of them. If you do good on the first 3 sections you don't even have to go to the 4th so you can finish early.

I've taken Professor Poetker for two semesters in a row first for Intro to Philosophy and then B9, and honestly she is a real gem of a professor. She is passionate about what she does, has an energetic personality, and knows her material inside-and-out. This class is a challenge and makes you work for a good score.

Honestly the most amazing professor I've ever had. I was expecting to struggle and feel indifferent to this class, but her knowledge on her subject makes this class so enjoyable. She truly cares about her students and is constantly checking to make sure no one has any questions. If you need a philosophy class, TAKE HER. You won't regret it!

I was apprehensive to take her class at first because she's known to be a tough grader, but by the second DI i got the hang of it. 3 words of advice 1. If u have questions, ALWAYS GO UP AND ASK 2. Do not be shy to participate in class, benefits you 3. bring something on workshop days

This subject was difficult for me. Theres 4 exams and I got a D on the first one and a C on the second on, and I still pulled a B+ in this class. There is an open book quiz after each class and she lets you use an index card for the exams. She gives no extra credit but the homework bumps up your grade. You must show up to class or youll be lost.

By far one of my favorite professors on campus. Very nice and easy going and the class was also easy.

She was my professor for Intro to Logic. I knew this class was going to be hard, but let me tell you no matter how hard a class is, if you have the right professor you'll be fine. I walked in everyday nervous about what we were going to learn, but she just made it very easy to understand that I walked out feeling better. Shes the best!

There is a DI due every other day and 3 Essays. She is super helpful when it comes to the essays though and she has workshops specifically for students to bring in their essays to ask questions and get feedback so take advantage of it. I did not think I would do well in this class at all but I actually learned a lot and surprised myself in the end

Best professor at BC. She is truly passionate about what she teaches and she explains in such ways that anyone can understand it. She made a topic that I thought would be rather boring to actually be extremely fascinating. Don't think about it twice, take her class!
