Tough material, professor makes it easier to grasp, breaks it down, very helpful
Great Teacher, she makes everything so easy and understandable with a lot of details
she is a wonderful professor. She makes the class intersting. She is very helpful when one needs additional help. You will find her at the math lab every week. The course is a bit hard but she does a great job in breaking it down in simplest terms.
Good instructor for somewhat hard material, she is clear with the material. Easygoing demeanor as well.
She is a nice lady. She comes out acting like she is very strict but she lightens up towards the end of the semester. She is very clears. I cant believe i past.Join study groups in the lab and let her see your face in there./
BEST MATH TEACHER AT UHD FOR COLLEGE ALGEBRA OR CALCULUS
Simmons is a blonde bombshell when it comes to mathematics, she is by far one of the most dedicated professors @ UHD. She gives an incredible amount of extra help, and is always available. NEED MORE PROFESSORS LIKE HER!
if u dont like math dont take her...
Material is not difficult but her grading on exams is riduculous. Must write answers exactly the way she wants it.
ms. simmons is the best when comes to teaching math!! Just do ur homework and know the material
Great professor!!! helpful at all times. Do your homework and you'll pass. She will help you when you need help. Seems strict but will help you in anything you need help with. Avaliable in the lab and at the office if you need help. take her if you want to pass statistics.
Excellent teacher, go to the math lab if you need help because she is accomodating, tough course, period.
Eventhough i didnt take her i would go to the lab all the time to clear up what i didnt understand she is so good.
I was in her class for two days, but I see that she is a very good teacher. The only thing is that her class is fast paced.
Personally I don't like her. Don't take her if you are lazy. go to class and do what she says, then you will be fine. She likes students to ask questions or response. Make sure do your work and let her know it
Best math professor at UHD! Her teaching style is great. If math isn't your subject don't worry you will learn in her class. Just take notes and do your hw you will get an A or B.
This class could have been very hard but she made it so easy. Her lectures and teaching styles help you learn. She wants you to do your best and pushes you. She is a great professor. Try hard and she will help you.
She is a great teacher. She totally prepares you for each exam. Her notes totally prepare you for the tests. This was my second time to take the class. She was definitely a much better teacher than Vicki Baker.
Good Teacher, explains things very well
She was a good instructor and was welling to help if need.
she's a little bit in a hurry because all her classes ended before, or at 9:30, but on the other hand she's a very good professor and helps you when you need it,
Personally math is my weakness, but I surprisingly pulled off an A in this class. I highly recommend this professor. She is great. She makes things very clear and will help you if you need it. Make sure and attend all of her classes though. I missed two of her classes and almost got lost, but luckily I caught on. Do the homework!
nit-picky about how she wants you to answer, but overall she was a great teacher. I was deathly scared of stats, but she gave good notes and really explained everything in which I pulled an A in that class. don't miss class and do the HW and you will do well in her class. final was awesoem bcuz she allowed you one cheat sheet

Took her during the summer. She made sure that you understood the material. Do the homework and you should be fine.
Simmons is the best math and stat prof at the Univ. Her lectures and handouts are second to none. Her explanations make difficult problems easier to grasp. However, you must work to make a good grade it her class. I heard she passes out F's like candy, and she hates slackers so do your homework and show up. Also hot, blonde, and has nice lips-ouch
One of the best professors here. If you don't understand math she does her best to help you out. If you do the homework, you will do fine on the exams. Also she helps you out by replacing your lowest quiz grade with 100 if you go to the math lab.
If you do the homework you are set. She is a very helpful professor, and is easy to be found or reached if you have any challenges!
A very good teacher gives ample opportunity to make extra points.
If you do the homework and follow her notes the class is a breeze. No need to buy the book just copy the tables and do her assigned homework from the packet.
Excellent Prof. She gives good lectures. Pay attention to her lectures, do your assigned work, and you will do ok. She breaks down tough material into manageable pieces. Don't miss class, and delude yourself into thinking that you will get a get a good grade- it ain't happening.
She is the best math teacher. She takes time to explain every detail. She will answer your question in a nicely manner. 3 tests, quizzes and the departamental final. The test are easy if you study and the quizzes are sometimes tricky. She offers extra points during the quizzes and 10 hrs are optional for extra points. No make-tests or quizzes.
Professor Simmons explains math in a matter that is easy to understand. She is also very helpful and offers her help after class and in the Math Lab.
I thought she was one of the best teachers I've ever had. Has her own set of notes that you buy from the Copy center; examples, everything and anything you'll need for the class are in these. Attendance is not mandatory but you'll want to go for your own good. She has several different ways of grading, will choose the method that igves you the high
An accurate remark about Mrs. SIMMONS is "SHE WAS AN EXCELLENT PROF". She was a good explainer; who did prepare all materials before the lectures' time. Her lectures are clear and helpful. Don't have to buy book, but her own notes in copy center only. 3 exams, 4 hws, & MC Comprehensive final exam. Her final was much easier than the other 3 exams.
she is an excellent teacher. I took this class in Fall 2006. We had to buy a study material, which she had prepared for the class. all of our tests were from that material, i did not even open my text book.
One of the best Professors ever! Material was presented in a very understandable way. She really took the time to teach the class. Take home assignments were very helpful. Take the time to do the homework and you will do well.
This prof is Great! She made the class interesting and understandable. She made note packets, and the book was not needed. She was very helpful. Keep up with your homework and ask questions and you will do fine!I highly recommend her!
Gave me a D....I dont like her classes...her teaching style is like she is in a big rush. So many things are due every other week. Excel HW....if ur late to class u get points off ur hw. Very, very strict at grading exams. My first exam was filled with red pen notes. Do not take her......
She is super picky she pays so much attention to details and will give you a very little partial credit in Excel HOMEWORK even when you got the final answer correct. I don't recommend her. She is always in rush from on topic to another one to time for nothing.
She's AWESOME! When i needed help with homework she took the time and helped me over the phone during the weekend. Attendance is mandatory. She gives tons of extra credit and she is always willing to help. Recommend!
This teacher is a major B*tch! If you take this teacher beware you will fail because she will take major points off of your exam becuase of what she calls jargon! I am keeping it real if you don't want to waste money or time take Erin Hodgess!!! Again I repeat take Erin Hodgess!!!
She is hard, but you will learn a lot in her class. I took her class a year ago and am still benefiting from what she taught me! Lectures are organized and crystal clear. Most people pass her class. I got an A by just coming to class and doing my work. You have to pretty much be lazy and have no work ethic to fail.
I took Ms. Simmons and did not like her style of teaching I took my class at the University of Houston Central campus and did wonderful. To future students who are not doing good in Ms. Simmons class take the class at central campus at the Bauer School of Business.
She is a great professor. Took the summer session so the material was a lot to take in. Do your homework & you'll do fine on the test. She doesn't like slackers so if you show effort she will work with you. She is very open and answers emails quickly. You don't need to buy the textbook, she gives handouts. Homework not graded.
Mrs. Simmons is a very interesting teacher who is devoted to conveying the material to all her students. She works well with students and answers any question fully in order to make sure all students understand. I highly recommend her.
Great teacher but is very hard. Took for the summer course. Shows a great interest and is willing to help.
worst professor in the world, she need to check her attitude, grading style because this is not a spelling class and she shouldn't take point off for little detail at all. Recommendation: do not take her class
Simmons is a great professor. Go to class and study your notes and you should do fine on the tests. I got an A. Final was comprehensive, but we were allowed to notes on one side of a 8.5X 11 sheet of paper. She loves her field and it shows! Would definitely take her again.
Great Professor. You do not have to buy the book she makes her own, attendance is mandatory to get the notes but she does not take role. She does appreciates when people ask questions but she does not always understand why you don't get it. Do her practice HW and assigmments and you should get an A no problem.
Prof. Simmons is one of the best professors I have come across. Not only has she write her own textbook, but she is free to answer your questions. More importantly, she *NEVER* makes you feel stupid for asking-so long as you're doing your homework.
One word, awesome!
It's a very easy class. She works off of her notes and makes sure you understand what's going on in the class. If you do your homework you should be able to make an easy A.
Attendance in this class is imperative if you intend on making a good grade. You will not need to purchase a textbook. If you attend class and do all your homework, you will do good in this class. Very thorough when teaching. Keep in mind you will be doing a lot more work compared to other professors. I enjoyed her class.
Professor Simmons is a great professor. You have to attend the class to understand otherwise you will fail. As the semester goes on you will enjoy it. Her tests are coexisting with the homework she gives and the final is departmental. I would've rathered her final exam. Don't get the book because she creates her own information for you. Good luck!
She teaches STAT, but if you don't answer your questions EXACTLY as she expects.. it will be marked wrong..even with the correct answer! No scantron! All tests are short answer w/work required! The reason there are no ratings after 2011...EVERYONE DROPPED! My class started with 32 people and on the last day to drop there were 10!TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!
The class is hard a plus you do not need to buy book, 3 exams ,one homework, and a final. as long as you do hw and know the material you will pass plenty of opportunities to make a good grade. even if your failing you can recover if you pass final
She's a very good professor, but not necessarily a good teacher. She's good at statistics, if you reach out to her she will help you out. It can be an easy A if you decide to put in the work. First C i've ever gotten in a math class ever.
One of the best professors I've ever taken. She's an excellent teacher and is thorough. She lets students know what is exactly expected of them and follows the class schedule and syllabus closely. Most of her test questions come from the homework, so make sure you complete ALL the homework. If you do the work, and dont miss class, you'll make an A.
Phenomenal professor. Took her for STAT. GO TO CLASS. This class is tough, but if you go to class, you should at the very least pass. Very willing to help if you don't understand something. She wants you to do well. Would definitely take a class from her in the future. Don't need the book. All notes and reading are provided via BB, just print them.
Professor Simmons is excellent! You do need to go to class and work the homework assignments, but if you do those things, you will pass. Your grade will really depend on how much effort you put into earning it, but she will give you all of the tools to achieve success. I would definitely take her again!!
Anna Simmons is tough. First math class i have taken where I made a C. I had a grade of 79.4 and she would not bump it to a B. Very clear lectures, doesn't let you speak. Final is departmental, if you fail, you wont pass. Study hard, practice and do the HW, and learn some STAT applications on your calculator, bc she will not teach you the shortcuts
Great professor. i didnt even do the extra hw(not req) and i got an A. im no math genius. take notes follow instructions do HW theres 5 go to review classes and youll get an A. if you do do the extra hw. youll have no worries for sure. most questions are the same on test as hw. its alot of extra hw quests tho but worth doing. even tho i did not. :)
Awesome Professor! As others stated, she's picky on the homework. Make sure you follow directions and team with your fellow students before submitting. You won't need a textbook. Tests are easy except for the true/false questions. Make sure you attend every class or you'll fall behind. Plenty of extra help in the stats lab if you need it.
Great professor! Show up to class, do homework and study for the exams. You will do fine. She definitely makes sure that you know the information.
Great professor. Must attend every class or get behind in class. She definitely explains very well. Do homework (not graded) but the more you study the more you capture the information. 3 test and a cumulative final. Grade will depend on your effort to study and learn.
Great class. Must attend class or will be left behind on lecture. Online HW and counts as a major grade towards your final grade. 5 major HW's and 3 exams along with a final that's accumulative. Encourages tutoring if you don't understand the material and also helps out if you have questions. Would recommend to anyone.
She is a great professor! She will NOT hold your hand, so make sure you go to the lab if you don't understand .DO NOT miss class. Online HW counts as a major grade towards your final grade. 5 major HW's and 3 exams along with a final that's accumulative. Make sure you practice the HW after the chapters. I hate math, but Anne made Stats FUN!
She is the BEST. she is gonna make you love her class. just go to class and read your notes, you will get an A
You don't need the textbook because her notes are extremely helpful and in depth study those and you pass the class. She is an excellent teacher.
One thing I enjoyed from Professor Simmons is that she always had her doors open to answer any questions. She's very organized and her lectures are very clear. This has been one of the few classes as an undergrad that I've enjoyed simply because it is clear and organized. I feel like she prepared me very well to succeed in the department final exam
Her exams are really tricky, I feel like people who made A's had exams from her past classes, cause our exam review is all our homework problems.
She's a good professor, but she expects everyone to love statistics and it doesn't work that way.
she's okay
Probably one of the favorite professors, she gives it to you straightforward, take it or leave it.
Great professor, but her teaching style isnt for me. If youre late even 3 minutes, youll miss about 3 pages of notes; thats how fast she teaches her lectures. Material is easy, but I feel as if she makes it difficult. She will not teach you shortcuts so show up to class on time, do the homework, and read her notes and you should pass the class.
Her exams are based on notes that you print out and fill in during class time. She gives you plenty of practice problems in class and outside of class. If you have to miss a day make sure you have a friend in class who can give you the notes for the day. Her teaching style is very meticulous. Do what she tells you to do and you will be fine.
I failed the first time I took her class because I didn't the it seriously. When she says to study the homework in her notes and the reviews to pass she means it. The Stats Lab helped me out a lot. Math is my least favorite subject but I passed with a B compared to the first time I had received an F.
Honestly one of the best professors I've taken in a while. Professor Simmons provides you with everything you need to pass her class. She types up the notes for you and practice problems, the class is not difficult if you study the notes and do the homework.
Professor Simmons lectures from notes which are comprehensive and cover all the material that may be on the exam. She gives some group homework assignments and there was some online homework as well. If you are struggling, be sure to review the notes and **practice the homework problems** throughout the week. Also take advantage of the math lab!
Pretty tough grader, gives notes to you so its a fill in the blank type thing. Because of that, you need to go to class. Homework that's in the notes, is what will be on test, but is not graded. Homework that is online is graded, but really has nothing to do with test material so it can get annoying. But still do it!
She explains things clear. You are welcome to ask her after class. She never makes you feel like an idiot for answer things wrong. However, there are a lot of works. If you have time, it's good because you can practice. If not, you may not be able to do well in class.
Prof Simmons is great. Get ready for a lot of hard work, but it is worth it. She is very clear in the beginning what is expected and as long as you do so you will be fine. Had her during COVID so a face to face went online and I was nervous, but she transitioned very well and overall I'm very pleased.
She was my professor during Covid! She put a lot of effort to make sure we understood what was expected after we switched to remote learning. Very accessible and quick responses to my emails. Study your notes and do stats lab. The exams are long but she tells you what to study. 3 exams + 1 final. shes always in a good mood!
There is homework based on modules every week, but to be honest as long as you watch videos and powerpoints youll be fine. They arent long either which I liked. Quizzes and tests are easy if you do homework & the videos, its pretty easy to pass her class. We do have a textbook, but I never had to use it. Pretty straightforward, I liked it.
Professor Simmons is a great Professor but she doesnt teach well for everyone to understand it very well. Not everyone is good at taking statistics class. If you missed one class you are obviously missing points and is not fair. If you are planning to take her please make sure you are ready for a lot of work even with the group work.
She cares a lot about your progress in the class and wants her students to pass! She offers a lot of help throughout the semester, curves, extra credit and study tools! The class is pretty hard in my opinion and especially if you struggle with math it can be challenging. As long as you do all of the assignments, study & go to class you can pass.
The class is slightly difficult, but if you give it all your time it's an A. She is very caring and professional
Professor Simmons class was rather tough but very rewarding. Ive always struggled with math and the way she structured her class was wonderful. Stuff is due a few times a week on connect and you have 3 tests and a final. As long as you complete the required material youll be fine. She also gives tons of extra credit. She wants you to pass. 10/10
She is really passionate about stats however, there are a lot of workloads to do for the class and it is very easy to fall behind. Even though she does open assignments every now and then if you do not do the practice exercises you will not pass the class. Few group projects, attendance reflects on your grade.
This class does have a huge work load, but I thought she was an amazing professor. If you show up and do the work she will make it so you can at least make a B in this class. Stats is a hard class with difficult concepts, but she breaks it down so well. She creates all of her notes as fill in, and you have access to recorded lectures.
You will have to put in a lot of time to learn Stats regardless of the professor. However, she cares about her students' learning and has very engaging lectures. Be ready to study very consistently to learn Stats. If you are really trying, you will get the grade you want. Her extra credit takes off some pressure if you are trying to be perfect.
This class will work you. there is a lot of homework and the tests are straight forward but this is not a class that you want to slack off in. you need to study outside of class and actually take the time to understand what is being taught. she puts in a lot of effort for you to succeed and understand the material. very good professor
If you want to fail take this professor. She gave a pop quiz in the middle of the lecture because no one had a question about the content we went over. She brags about people failing her class and says that she has a high drop rate. I know multiple people who have wrote negative reviews about her but they always seem to disappear from RMP. AVOID!!!
She is a very hard professor to understand, the class I took was hybrid and she barely taught anything in class. Doing a lot of work by yourself is hard, especially when she is very strict about her assignments. She would even take off a point for any little detail on her homework.
Majority of the graded homework is easy on my mathlab. The class has a heavy workload and she gives extra excercises each week to do on your own for practice (no grade). Most of her test come from material on the practice excercises or some variation of it so you do have to do it. Straight forward, she cares for her students is available to help
Very heavy workload. You can learn a lot from this course but you basically teach yourself from her modules. So many quizzes and exams. There are also 6 group assignments in this course. Participation and attendance are a grade and mandatory. Take this class if you have a lot of time on your hands, if not, once you fall behind its hard to catch up.
Amazing! Class is only once a week, so you will have to work and study outside of class time! This is a stats class, so ofc it'll be hard and you'll have to do work! Just do the exercises (which are not graded) and you will be fine. She drops grades and gives lots of bonus points and extra credit. Only downside are the group excell because of group
professor in Fall 2023, with no experience coming into UHD. My first class, thinking it would be perfect. This class is lecture, group, and homework heavy. There is total 16 chapters, each had quiz, then 3 group projects, also midterm and final was on camera with 360 room check. I was surprised to pass with the group I started with. Not an easy C+.
I recommend taking Professor Simmons for statistics. She gives excellent lectures and genuinely cares about her students. Although she is a tough grader and assigns group projects, she offers a participation grade if you pay attention in class and ask at least one question. There are only four exams in her course, and she curves the grades.
Class is easy. Exactly what I needed as someone who is returning to college after years. She tends to oversimplify things, gets annoying bc constantly repeats herself. But she does that because she cares, wants to make sure we understand what she's teaching. Prints out lecture notes, goes over them in class, makes them accessible online. Works 4 u
Professor Simmons' class is challenging but rewarding. The workload is heavy, with quizzes, exams, and group projects. However, she offers participation grades and extra credit. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for study prep.
I took this class lead on by the reviews and boy do i regret it. The course is heavy with lots of HW, exams that are harder than what you studied, and the exams hold a lot of weight so don't be surprised if your grade drops significantly. More of this class is done by hand than calculator, be aware she sometimes doesn't allow calculators on exams.
She is great and will do everything she can to help you if you are trying!! She did great in conveying how to do statistics and helped break down difficult topics understandable. The video lectures online, were a huge help to recover and work through at home. She is very willing to help as long as she sees you trying.
Class was loaded and even before we digest one chapter with our exercises and homework, another was thrown on us. She will throw a pop quiz for everyone to flunk. She's proud of her 30 yrs in learning, she is a kind and respectfully person, but she does not play around. Expect her Excel and tests and assignments to be harsh and no mercy on grading!
There is a lot of work, but she simplifies the concepts in order to get better understanding, and she's always available to answer any questions. There is a lot of studying to do in order to pass the class, you for sure have to do the exercise problems she provides. Extra credit is offered, and she curves the grades. Overall good professor.
If you keep up with the work, the class is easy and you'll learn a lot.
3 tests and the average of those is worth 45% of the class grade. This semester, after test 2, she accused my whole class of cheating and gave most people a 0 for the exam, causing a lot of people to drop. I barely passed, and that was after rewatching all of her lecture videos (they range from 5-20 minutes each). Only take her as a last resort.
Took a semester ago & no words could explain just how this class & this professor was. Sure she was all smiles, but goodness she does not play around. Bragged about her past classes mistakes & failing students, almost acting like she wants people to fail. Really old school hw exercises packets & in class paper exams. ABSOLUTE waste of time
Took her 7am class. Because it was a small class she gave extra help and we could work on assignments in class. Straight forward and organized. Highly recommend.
