GREAT TEACHER. If you write down the notes, show up to class and do the CD ROM then you will get a good grade.She has her nose pierced. Anyone who does not pass this class is an idiot. She is clear about her expectations and they are not unreasonable.

This class is very very hard if you do not do the extra credit (quizzes and CD-rom) because the exam questions are very very tricky. Other than that she is a reasonably understanding person and it is an interesting class as far as Biology for non-majorsis

If you simply go to class you will pass, just study! I took her once and failed the class because i took her daytime class that had over 150 students in it. The second time (now) I am taking her twice a week at night and it is a smaller class. She takes her time more during this class.

Lectures are so boring and her tests are hard. You have to pay attention, study and do the extra credit. She is really funny though and tries to make class amusing. She has a cool, sparkly nose ring.

Do ALL the extra credit!! It will make the difference on all your tests. Her tests are very hard but she is really sweet and very helpful. She makes little cute jokes to the class. Study hard and come to class and you will pass

Amazing teacher. The tests can be a tiny bit difficult, but if you do the bonus points, you get like a 20 point curve. Great at explaining stuff. I made an A and I hate biology. She actually makes it interesting!

Lots of fun to listen to. She has the ability to stimulate interesting, intelligent conversation in an auditorium-sized classroom and make you feel as if there are only twenty or so of you in a pleasant and open atmosphere.

What a biology teacher should be! Very through in that she spells out exactly what you will see on exams. Is willing to go out of her way to help you if you show a desire to learn material. Must attend class to attain bonus points that are added to your test scores. Multiple points available!

She was a really nice and easy teacher as long as you study and come to class. You have three exams only and she gives you plenty of opportunities for extra credit.

Dr. Sorin is awesome! She is funny and you can tell that she loves the subject she teaches. Even if biology doesn't interest you, it will by the end of the semester. Show up for class, study for the tests, and DO the extra credit work. If you do all that, you'll do well.

Dr. Sorin is an exceptional instructor. Her test were hard though. Take advantage of her office hours. She is willing to help. If you are having problems and talk to her you should do fine.

I absolutely loved her. I've hated science all of my life until this class. She is an extraordinary instructor and has a way of engaging the unengagable. I enjoyed her class because it is very apparent that she loves her subject matter.

dr sorin seems to be very detailed in her teaching and seems 2 care if u r learning the material. this is my second go around with her so i am very sure i know wat 2 expect from her and i will pass this tyme. although technically i made a D and that is passing, but not if it is prequisite for ur major field of study and of course a D is not good.

People that had a hard time in this class must not have tried at all. I passed with an A+ average and I never did ANY of the extra credit, hardly ever studied outside of class. I even accidently skipped a page on one of the exams and Dr. Sorin let me make it up and everything. Great professor.

Fantastic teacher! She's a stickler, but keeps it interesting and goes into a lot of stuff that relates to your life. Go to class, do ALL the extra credit, and if you're having trouble, meet with her during office hours. She's very helpful and interested in the subject & you will definitely learn something in her class.

SO EASY!! just do the extra credit and study the powerpoint for the test. If you look over the power point for an hour or so before the test then you'll do fine. Highly Recommended !!

Biology is not my favorite subject, but I like this class. As long as you study and pay attention in class, you should do fine. Whoever fails this class is just a bottom-feeder because she gives easy extra credit points like once a week.

Not much else needs to be said about this teacher. She is still just as awsome, easy, and fun as the other comments suggest. Attendance is optional, she prints out the clearest power point notes, and the tests are easy and fair. Although attendance is not mandatory, she is very cool and its almost just something to go do its that fun.

Go to class (BONUS POINTS!!)... I never studied, just listened to discussions. The notes are online so you don't have to take notes. I NEVER opened the book, just burn the C.D from someone! You will get a "B" from just going to class and listening and an "A" for taking notes and studying

OMG!! Dr. Sorin rocks. She gives students up to 20 bonus points for each test. What more can I say. Biology is pretty boring, but with her personality, she makes it very interesting and you will be laughing everyday. Pay close attention to the notes. I repeat... the NOTES!!! Whatever is in the notes, pay attention 2. The CD-ROM is great2.Sorin YES!

Sorin is a good teacher. Her exams are not difficult. The questions are all based on class notes, so it is helpful to come to class, despite there not being a mandatory attendance policy. Easy extra credit points, which can great improve your grade. She is relatively good at holding your attention in class. Study the lecture notes for tests!

very very very easy to get an A. If you just take the notes (which you can print off line)it is almost impossible to fail.

This class requires GOOD STUDY HABITS!!!! Also you must have good listening skills. Ms. Sorin is from N.Y. people so she is a SMART PANTS!!! I loved this class, because she is a really good educator. She was really helpful for research that I was doing for different project, and I am not even a biology major! I highly recommend this instructor!

Dr. Sorin is a really interesting teacher. I'm not a big biology person but she made class pretty fun. The tests seemed REALLY hard to me, you really have to study. If you go to class you should be okay because she gives lots of bonus points to help you out.

Excellent professor! Very interesting! Easy A if you study and go to class. She gives A LOT of bonus points as long as you attend classes. They can raise your test score two letter grades! I haven't made below a hundred yet! They aren't as difficult as people say... just go to class and study the powerpoints and you are sure to make and A!

Excellent, very thorough.Does not grade with curve but do the bonus work(up to 15pts for each test)she adds the pnts to the overall test grade.I passed with a B, barely studied but did all the extra credit & added 14 extra pnts to the test.To do bonus pts you must show for class to know when she gives pts. Show and you will learn & pass.

She's an awesome teacher. You don't have to come to class, but why NOT come to class? She gives a bunch of bonus points if you come and easy things to do & she is hilarious. She made everything interesting and fun. She's fair and will help you understand anything. I can't recommend her enough!

Dr. Sorin is a wonderful professor. She's passionate about what she teaches and can really break things down for you to understand. She gives out plenty of easy bonus points for you to rack up on for tests so just go to class and pay attention and you'll do fine! Also she gives out her notes ahead of time!

AMAZING INSTRUCTOR! Attendance not mandatory but she gives random points out that can make a major difference on your test. Shes extremely passionate and loves what she does. She assigns all things that will only help you and your grade. Power points are easy to understand and she explains very well if you don;t understand, just ask! Take her!

Dr. Sorin is really passionate about what she teaches. She's very approachable if you need help. Although attendance is not required, I recommend going because her tests are difficult (even though there are some easy questions). During class, she usally gives out bonus points. They add up on the tests and can change your grade by a whole letter.

Dr. Sorin is interesting. She's northern and can be very soap-boxy and offend people sometimes, but she knows what she's talking about and gives out easy bonus points. only complaint is that she's a freak about cell phone use.if i want to pay to come to class and text while i'm there, it's not like she's losing anything.other than that she's great.

Dr. Sorin was an excellent teacher and was very enthusiastic about her subject. The class is an easy A as long as you do the HW and take advantage of the extra credit she offers. I would score mid 80's on her tests but with extra credit score around 95. Great teacher!

Awesome teacher! Makes it interesting and easy to understand. Do all possible bonus points, can make 2 letter grade difference on your exam scores. Study lecture notes and online homework notes, score high on your homework, you have three homework attempts to make a 100, and ask questions if you don't get it. She's very nice and helpful. Dr. Sorin is amazing. I am going to be honest, her tests are hard. But, if you study, you can pass them. She is honest about the points, she tells you exactly how many you earned for each test. She makes Biology fun and helps you apply it to your everyday life. I loved this class and I normally hate science.

Dr. Sorin is truly a fantastic professor. I don't even like science but she made it fun. Do the bonus assignments & go to class. She tells the class this but I doubt many people did it: LOOK AT THE CD. It truly helps. I went from getting a 69 on the 1st test to the 90s on the others. You have to study for this class. Her lectures are always humourous, enlightening, and memorable! You better get comfortable in that seat though, as her constant pacing around the auditorium keeps the class on lockdownâ??nothing you do goes unnoticed. Not much book use is required as she's great about posting her lecture notes. It should be all you need. Random attendance checks.

She is a fabulous teacher. Makes biology extremely fascinating for non-majors. Obviously slightly liberal but very realistic with things (we talked about AIDs, cancer, and stem cell research in class). Also disproved dumb rumors during class (abortions don't ruin your system when legal- keep that legal!)

Dr. Sorin is by far the best professor I've ever had in my life. She made Biology SO interesting! She relates everything to real life. I've never been interested in Biology until I took this class! Tons of bonus points if you show up, really boosts the grade. I would recommend her to everyone. I wish she taught more classes than Intro to Biology.

I went in not expecting to do much because I heard that it was easy, but I had to put in SOME effort (more than expected). I made A-'s and B+ on the tests. Advice: Do all of the extra credit if possible. Your final grade can go from a B to an A. It's that serious.

Dr. Sorin is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. I did not even like biology, before taking her class; now, I want to change my major! Participation is from answering in-class response questions. I never used the book- EVER! And I have been making high A's on everything. She offers a lot of extra credit. Exams just involve studying.

I enjoyed Dr. Sorin's class. She has a wealth of knowledge and does pretty well to get it to you. Her tests definitely aren't "easy" but she gives so many oppurtunities for extra credit that if you put in a little effort and show up to class you'll be fine. On average I had 15 extra points on tests. She takes up cell phones. Dont sit at the front.

Took Professor Sorin back in 2010. She was great, good lectures considering I wasn't a major. She wanted people to pass. Gave extra credit.

Mandatory attendance policy. HW is all online but she does give bonus points that go towards the test. Not an easy class, but if you do your HW and study you should be fine.

The class was taught by 4 professors. Dr. Sorin interacts with ALL students, demands participation, and is as much focused on you and visa versa. She brings extra material in conversation that offers more conceptualization over the topics that she is covering in class. Very interactive and fun lectures. Pat attention, and come to class prepared.

I LOVED her! She is sarcastic and funny, yet also very serious and passionate about teaching you correctly. She knows it is not your major but caters to what non-majors are interested in. I recommend her to anyone who is willing to work, but also interested in looking forward to class.

Shes is super funny and sarcastic. She helps relate biology to the new generation of students. But is very serious about her class and you learning. I LOVE her so much she is one of the best professors I had at the University of Memphis. Be There and be on time and have that phone out of site!

Take Dr. Sorin, if you have the opportunity don't pass it up. Dr. Sorin wants everyone in her class to succeed. She encourages students to ask questions. She makes you think and respects your opinions and beliefs. The way she organizes her class is very effective- two in class tests and a final. You gain bonus points by coming to class.

Out of the four professors teaching this course she was definitely the best. She wanted the class to understand rather than just get through the material. Her material also wasn't too hard. She very attractive haha

Warning!! This teacher is cell phone crazy, I mean she hates them. Don't push her crazy button, and you will really enjoy the class, she is very kind and very helpful despite her natural serious sounding tone.

She knows her Biology, for sure, however be careful. Her tests can be especially brutal, and as I took it online, it requires you use a proctoring service on your computer. She does offer extra credit. Do it, you'll need it for the test. It is a very work-heavy course, however the program used as the text book is pretty great.
