A standard OU math professor: needlessly hard, and only half the students pass the class. New to the difficulty is group projects, which are poorly designed to say the least. Avoid this class.
Horrible teacher. When asked a ? about group assignments, she would tell you to re-read the problem because "It's in there". She stares you down and makes you feel as small as a mouse. Group assignments are no fun and make no sense.
Tests are everything in this class. Even if you go to all the SI's, do all the extra credit and homework, you're grade will still come down to the tests. Good luck with this one
She is fast paced but willing to help and give extra credit as long as you go to class and office hours better than most Calculus teachers!
One of the best professors I've ever had. If you want an easy math class try MTH 011 (equivalent of high school Alg. I)!
doesn't really care about helping students
VERY clear and always willing to help. Exams are a little hard...too long actually. You can tell she wants her students to understand the material.
This class is hard for a reason. It's a "weeder" class. Most non-math oriented students will find this professor to be difficult, but I found her to be a very good teacher. She speaks clearly, comes prepared to class, is willing to help out side of class and challenges students. Good Luck
This class was easy. If you aren't majoring in a technical field, you'll disagree. She explains everything well, but writes ALOT of notes on the board. Pay attention and keep up. Her tests are made by the math department, so do not think she is out to get you.
Spaggy is a terrible prof, don't ever take her, end of story.
Excellent and first rate professor.
Fist off let me tell you that she will lecture and write about a 100 mph so bring a lot of paper and a couple of pencils. Homework was assigned but not due. It did help if you did the homework and also do her practice quizzes. Now her tests are way too long. I've taken all 3 and havent finished
One of the best teachers at Oakland. She gives great proofs to justify equations used in class. She really cares if students get the material. But be prepared to work hard. Very enthusiastic.
This class is extremely difficult!! This prof. is extremely nice, but she teaches VERY fast. She also teaches extra "proofs" to help students understand theroems. She does curve, but that is because her exams are so hard. Homework due everyday, but helped cushion grade.
Anna is a great math professor. No math class at Oakland is easy, but she is more than willing to help outside of class. Just keep up, go to SI, and you'll be fine.
I hated this class, not the prof. She's a great prof. Very helpful, only if you ask. Quizes are tough, but the tests are the killers. She does not write them, but, who cares. Math sucks in OU. I recommend you take it at OCC. I wish I did!
Just try really hard and let her know that you are. If you get extra help from her during office hours, she will remember you when she is grading your exam (WINK!) If you do good on the final, she will "help" you out with your grade out.
This class really hard!! But Spagnuolo is a GREAT prof, and I hear that there aren't a lot of good math profs at Oakland. She's very clear. Tests are insane, but she curves a lot. I think there was way too much work outside of class (including 2 tough group projects worth only 30 pts each.)
She's a great professor. Always very helpful and enthusiastic about teaching. I wasn't really happy about taking Calc II, but she made it at least more enjoyable. Calc II is still tough, and there are a lot of homework and quizzes, but it's a lot easier when I actually understand what the teacher is saying. And she tries to make sure we do.
Make no mistake, Calculus is really hard. But Pofessor Spagnuolo is an excellent teacher. She's eager to answer any question and although she teaches and writes very fast, she won`t hesitate in explaining a concept again if you ask. Really recommend her.
it's calc 1, so it's not supposed to be easy. i took her in the summer, which was a mistake...she flew through everything. she has the worst sense of humor...anything remotely clever is wasted on her. didn't seem to be able to answer questions very vell and all of her examples are from the book. i found her quite annoying, although the course was probably at fault for that. i wouldn't necessarliy recommend her but after taking the course over i think it was just the summer pace that did me in.

Best Math professor I've ever had at Oakland. Always eager to help, if you can't make it to an office hour she'll have no problems scheduling an appointment with you. She actually cares if the students are understanding the material. Tons of homework and quizzes, but they help a lot with the final grade. Choose her class whenever possible.
really hard class. the teacher is very good though. she actually made me develop *some* interest in calculus. homework assigned every class, quizzes every week. try to show her that you're working hard and she might help u with your grades. would take her class again.
Beware of exam #2, it's the toughest one, aside from the final. But that goes for any calc 2 instructor. Spagnuolo is an excelent teacher, you can really tell that she loves teaching. I'd recommend her and professor Schmidt anytime.
Calc 2 is a very difficult course, the tests are nearly impossible. However, Professor Spagnuolo teaches the class in a manner that college students can understand. She is also willing to go out of her way to help her students. If you have to take this class, take it with Professor Spagnuolo.
Professor Spagnuolo is awesome! She really wants students to understand the material and get involved in class, and will do whathever is within her reach to help students. I never thought I would say Calculus II was the highlight of the semester, but this class was really great. I really recommend this professor.
Calc II is a REAL pain... Some how, I got out of it with a 3.6, so for those out there who like myself cannot stand math will really like this teacher. She does grade hard, and the lectures over sum / series went by a bit fast. Your going to get sick of calc, but don't fall behind! Best advice you can get. Good teacher, and is easy on the eyes.
If you don't slack around, you won't have problems with her classes. She'll do everything she can to make you understand Calc, as long as you show interest, so make sure you keep up, do the darned HW and quizzes, ask questions, go to office hours if you need and you should be prepared 4 the exams. I'm not saying they're easy, but they're manageable
I loved her!!! I dreaded going into calc 2 at OU, but with this professor, the class was quite interesting. She is clear, consistent, and WANTS her students to do well. Lets be real, math at OU is not a walk in the park, but with this professor, you can be sure to pass with an average grade. Take her, u won't regret it.
Beautiful women, she really wanted the class to do well and did everything she could to help you. Math at OU is not the easiest and after MTH 154 I was scared. If you can take math with her DO IT. You will not regret it.
She is amazing! She breezes through the material, and makes sure you understand where everything comes from. She will do as many examples as possible and she does a really good job with them. If you can take a class with her I HIGHLY suggest it.
The best math professor at OU, Period. She explains everything until it's crystal clear and is super easy to understand. She is always available if you need extra help and will help you understand and ENJOY the material. I took calc 3 times, the first 2 times I hated the class, with Spagnuolo it was fun!
She was so sweet and nice. She mad learning fun. Good about curves.
She is a great teacher, which is saying a lot since math at oakland is pretty difficult. She was extremely helpful and was concerned about everyone's well being in the class. She made math tolerable to say the least. If you have to take this class, take her!
BEST TEACHER in math department. if taking calc, don't bother taking it with anyone else.her notes are amazing and she explains until everyone gets it. always available after class. added an extra office hour because people needed extra help. very very kind and likes to get to know her students.i hated math, and now i actually have respect for it.
BEST TEACHER in math department. if taking calc, don't bother taking it with anyone else.her notes are amazing and she explains until everyone gets it. always available after class. go see her during office hours, she loves it. i hated math, and now i actually have respect for it.
She TALKS WAY TOO FAST but, from everything ive heard its a blessing to have a teacher who actually speaks english. I've also been told shes OU's best math professor if you are having any trouble with her class GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS,....ALOT or student tutoring in NFH
The class kicks your butt and the material is very tough and the department covers a lot. She is helpful, but her graders are tough. Very many quizzes and homework due every class. She is very jittery and always hyped on starbucks. She flies thru her notes, you are only writing and not understanding her. She is very helpful outside of class.
Great professor, makes calculus fun! She was easy to follow during class and her tests were reasonable. Only small complaint I have is that her homework graders could be very picky.
GREAT TEACHER! She is great at explaining the math so students can understand. She knows how we learn and makes it very easy to follow he lectures. By far the best math prof at OU. She really wants her students to do good, but she maes you earn it. Do whatever you can to take her class
Professor Spagnuolo is an excellent calculus professor; she explains the material well and willingly answers any questions students have.
This class is extremely hard!!!tests are nearly impossible! She is very nice and fair and its not her fault b/c she tries to help everyone..just avoid math at OU!!!
Excellent professor, definitely recommended over any other prof. She is organized with lectures and explains everything until it makes sense. a lot of writing and class goes a few minutes over usually. That said, the tests are tough not because the problems are tough but there is not enough time. I never finished and neither did most. but possible
SHE IS AMAZING. Math at Oakland is hard but whenever I had problems with any part of the chapter she explains it very well. She gives MANY great example in class of the problems. If you have to take Calc. I HIGHLY suggest taking her.
A skilled teacher and very nice professor. Probably the best Math teacher at OU. Plus, she speaks perfect English! Highly recommended.
Excellent professor, but the material is still incredibly hard to learn. I'd recommend her over any other math professors at this school.
shes incredibly helpful moves quickly in class in order to get through as many examples as possible, she is great at what she does
Great professor. Difficult class, but she is very clear and is always there to help. Moves very fast, but there is too much information to go any slower. I definitely recommend her to everyone.
Unless you were a whiz at AP calc in high school and already covered half of the stuff, this class is a meat grinder and a brain wreaker. Do not expect a 4.0 or even an A for that matter. Excellent professor, though. She is probably the best one at OU. She makes it very possible to pass or even get a B.
Honestly calc 2 isnt easy. I worked my butt off and tried very hard. My whole world was calculus 2 for the semester and it definitely paid off... her tests are way easier then quizzes and shes really helpful and gives PLENTY of examples.... you have everything you need to pass. but you have to work hard, no questions asked
Spagnuolo is very nice and wants to help. She tends to dumb down the material when explaining making class painfully slow. Assigns A LOT of homework and weekly quizzes are useless. Overall I recommend her, she is one of the best math professors OU has.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had, probably the best at OU. Of course Calc 2 is a difficult class, but she does her best to make the material easy to understand. If you're taking any calculus class, take hers.
She is the best teacher in Calc. Her quizzes are not bad, if you do the homework, then you should be fine, and she gives the takes home quiz (best thing ever). If you study for the exams, then you should get at least B. She helps a lot. She is the best teacher in Oakland math department. Definitely take her!
Professor Spagnuolo is probably the best math professor EVER! Her class is challenging, but hey it's calculus! Take her class, go to her office hours, do the homework, and you will do great!!
Such a good professor. Very clear and concise. Willing to answer any questions. Weekly take home quizzes are kind of difficult sometimes but the exams have more basic questions. Daily homework is collected and as long as you do it, the exams shouldn't be a problem.
Very nice professor, speaks well and writes notes clearly and organized on board. Go to class to take notes and get take-home quiz and homework (not on Moodle). Gives many examples and explains clearly and answers questions sufficiently. Moves at a fast pace though. Weekly take-home quizzes are hard, daily homework is easy, great professor!!!
She is one of the best math professors I've ever had. Gives plenty of examples and always willing to help out. The class isn't too difficult if you try and go to her office hours. I definitely recommend her to everyone!
Wonderful professor. She's always willing to help out whenever she's available. Really wants to see her students succeed but makes them earn it-definitely does not hand out grades. Although if you pay attention and study, the class isn't too difficult. I would take her again in a heartbeat. If you're taking calculus, take it with her!
Great professor! Very clear and understands the subject perfectly! Best math prof at OU.
She's great! I liked her class a lot. It's calc 2, so it's obviously hard. But she's really personable and teaches in a way where it makes sense. Very friendly one-on-one in office hours as well.
In a University that is known among the students for bad math professors, there is one hope. This professor explains things well, gives good examples, reviews items before a test, and does not give tests that are obnoxiously difficult. Best Calc professor you could get.
She was awesome! She can be a bit harsh to those who ask stupid questions, but was extremely helpful. Explains everything really well also
Professor Spagnuolo was awesome! She was always very helpful and clear. Highly recommended!
She was a wonderful, wonderful professor. She was incredibly helpful when you went to her with help; and in class she always made it simple to follow and made sure everyone was on the same page. I highly recommend her, she is a wonderful and nice person and a truly great professor.
This may have been an easier course if I had calc background but I found it to be the hardest course I've ever attempted. I couldn't take notes and follow what she was saying because it was so fast paced. I had to hire a tutor and I still don't know if it was enough to pass. If math comes naturally then you're fine, but otherwise be prepared.
Material isn't too bad until the end, rarely curves the exams. Gives weekly take home quizzes which will probably hurt your grade more than help. Assigns homework and only checks for completion so free points there. She's very nice and exams are fair compared to homework and examples in class. Overall great teacher for a tough class.
Professor Spagnuolo is awesome. The course is hard, no doubt about that, I had no Calc background and I still passed with a C. Shes extremely helpful, will meet with you any time and help you. Would def. take her again.
I loved Anna! She teaches math perfectly and is so clear on the board. Calc 2 is super hard but she makes it common sense on the board. Go to Tut center & SI and do all hw (effort grade). Quizzes are all take home but super hard so try hard on them. Summary is that she's amazing (kind of sassy/snarky sometimes but no big deal), but material is hard
Dr. Spagnuolo is an amazing calc teacher. I finished with a 4.0. Attendance is mandatory because you have to turn in the homework every day. She does drop 2 of the homeworks and one quiz, and will curve based on how well the other calc classes are doing. The final was very easy. Dr. Spagnuolo cares about each student and is willing to help.
One of the best professors I have had. Sincerely cares about her students if and when you put it the effort to learned the material! Calc is difficult and you will have to work hard. She is not an easy 4.0, but she will definitely help get you there.
Professor Spagnuolo has been one of my favorite professors at OU! She's so nice and you can tell she genuinely cares about her students. She does assign homework everyday, but if she didn't I probably wouldn't learn as much as I do now. The class is obviously hard, so if you think you can take it and not put any work in, your wrong. Take her!
She is a very clear and good professor, but is a super tough grader. Lots of material is covered in the course, so don't fall behind, and be prepared to put some work in.
Dr. Spagnuolo is by far the best math instructor I have ever had and am likely to ever have again. She is very invested in each student's success, and while she isn't "easy", she will make sure you learn every bit of what you need to. Calc II is hard, but I got a 4.0 with her. I would recommend her above any other professor.
Great teacher, but tough and lots of homework. Also she teaches a difficult class.
good teacher. but tough tests and tough grader.
Professor Spagnuolo is great. Really enjoyed her lectures and her class. She knows the material inside and out. She's probably the best math teacher I've ever had and the best one at OU by far.
The best Math Professor i've ever had, i struggled through Calc 1 and barley passed when i had a different professor and i took her for Calc 2 and got an 80% when calc 2 was supposed to be harder, she's amazing at her lectures and gives practice exams that help a lot! TAKE TAKE TAKE her!!
Advanced calc 1, one of the toughest math classes for math BA. Lectures are very fast-paced and cover a lot of content. Homework helped organize material and she leaves a lot of feedback when grading. Tests were mostly fair. She even stayed after class to review often. She cares about students a lot and I would definitely recommend her.
She is the best professor I have ever had. She makes the class very interesting to follow and her writing is very clear and organized. She cares about her students if they understand the material or no, if not she would help them. If you attend the class, do the homework & the PRACTICE EXAMS, you will be fine. Definitely, take her!!!
Professor Spagnuolo is amazing at what she does! She really cares about her students and wants you to do well.
Wonderful professor. One of, if not, the best math proffesor at Oakland. She wants to see you succeed, but will not hold punches back with material and grading. If your not amazing at math and are just taking this to fulfill a requirement, expect to fight tooth and nail to pass.
Great professor, a little intimidating at first because she flat out told the whole class that if you skip class, and don't keep up with the homework, you'll fail....... But she's right. It's a tough class to begin with so keeping up is key. Do the homework, go to every class, do the practice exams and you'll be fine.
TAKE. For the LOVE of god, take. When you do take, GO THE CLASS and STUDY THE PRACTICE EXAMS. You're welcome.
Probably the best math teacher at OU. 3 Exams+Final. Homework is mandatory and take home quizzes every week. She goes really fast so it's hard to keep up, but just do the homework by yourself and youll be ok. The exams are pretty easy if you know the material. She is very nice and extremely intelligent. I got exactly a 2.0 and would recommend her.
Just take math at a community college if you care about your GPA, oakland doesnt use the grade you get at a community college towards your GPA so you might as well take these harder undergrad math and science courses there over the summer. taking math classes at oakland ruins your gpa. anna's class is just as hard as every other professor.
She's AWESOME!! This class is not an easy A. If you go to class, take notes, and read the chapters you will be fine. She assigns a ton of practice problems that are not graded, don't stress out over getting these done. As long as you understand the basic concepts you will be fine :)
Super fair, nice professor. Doesn't come across as arrogant like other maths profs can be. Her lectures are honestly some of the best - she uses a tablet + writes her notes via software on the projector. Lenient enough for grading - if you *actually* study you'll 3.0 at the Least. Her office hours are really helpful too tbh she knows her stuff.
She's amazing. Her lectures are super clear so definitely attend class. The exams are fair as well (as long as you study). By far the best math professor at OU.
The course was challenging but she is an excellent prof.
Ms. Spagnuolo is AMAZING. Her lectures are so helpful. She explains everything so well and shows all the steps. She is very kind and answers questions. She assigns a lot of homework, but in the long run it has helped me. Her exams are difficult and time-pressured, so if you are slow, she may not be a good professor for you. Best Calc 2 prof
Probably one of the best teachers at Oakland University. The lectures can get dry sometimes, but she works through numerous example problems and answers any questions you may have. There are 3 exams, 10 take-home quizzes (lowest quiz gets dropped), and homework due at the beginning of each class period (two lowest assignments get dropped).
Took for accelerated summer semester. Lectures were heavy on theory but she explained tough concepts well & thoroughly which made the difficult material approachable. Lots of homework (daily), quiz every week, one midterm and one final. She provides sample exams which are close to actual exam. One of the better math prof.s I've had at OU.
Prof. Spanguolo is a great professor. She is a fair grader, and she is very good at explaining difficult concepts. She gives lots of homework and weekly take-home quizzes, which can be a little too much occasionally but I managed. I would take her class again, though.
Professor Spagnuolo is one of the best professors I've ever had at Oakland. she really cares about her students and really wants them to succeed! she will, however, make you work for your grade! She feels like a second mom
professor Spagnuolo is definitely the best choice for apm 2555. Took in the summer so it was very accelerated and demanding but its not bad to pick up the material if youre willing to work at it. class consists of daily homework, 5 take home quizzes, a midterm and a final. the practice exams she give out are very similar to the real ones.
Take Professor Spagnuolo for any class you can. She does not try to trick students on exams. You know exactly what you will be tested on. She actually cares about people. If she sees effort, she will work with you if you are struggling. She picks hard problems for homework and quizzes and then mid level for exams. There are no surprises.
There is a reason she has this high of a rating. She is the best. If you need to take APM 2555. She doesn't just pass you learn and pass. Her class helped me so much in EE compared to students who took it in fall and winter. They learned nothing. Spagnuolo class prepared everyone in the summer. She is the best for this class nobody else. EC, Kind.
She is the best math professor at Oakland. Her lectures were so organized and she explained the material so well. She is very willing to help if you are confused. I highly recommend taking any math class with her. He also gives practice exams that are similar to the exams and offers extra credit if you participate during lectures.
Dr. Spagnuolo was an incredible professor to teach an important and rather difficult subject. The material was not easy and required a lot of personal time invested in understanding topics outside of class. Plentiful of homework problems that help to understand these concepts for examination. Both Quizzes and Tests were fairly written and graded.
What a pathetic excuse for a professor. Refused respond to issues by email. Evaluations made no sense. Tries to come across friendly, you quickly find out it's just superficial & phony. Always too busy if the conversation goes beyond 5 min. No time to discuss math beyond just our class, research opportunities, or anything helpful. Awful.
Waste of time. Take math with anyone but this professor.
Great professor. Goes above and beyond to help her students. Lectures are engaging and interactive. The homeworks and practice exams are difficult and require real understanding, but if you really do them you will do well in the course.
