Really animated, funny. Somewhat confusing; hard tests, but I had a good TA.
Crazy and funny, impossible exams
Worst professer ever. Can't write legibly, doesn't speak english well.

When I came here I was not under the impression that this University hired retards to teach some of the most important classes. I seriously have to question the credability of this academic institution.
Evil, manipulative, unknowledgable, and also unable to every gain tenure here. What a terrible course, and half of the things she told us were flat out wrong. I will not miss her or that class. She interupts students and says the most condesending things to them. Evil, evil woman.

A really bad teacher. You need to teach yourslef all of the material to understand any of it. Test are tricky. STUDY!!!!
You cant understand her writing or speech. she teaches stuff that isn't in the book, so if you dont go to lecture you wont understand what shes talking about. shes very unorganized. no set date during the week to turn in hw. her website is hard to access. teach yourself the material or your screwed!
She's terrible! She insults TA's and doesnt care about her students at all. She likes to give homework of stuff she hasnt taught yet and that isnt in the book. There are no drops on tests and the grading scale is rigid.
Can't read writing, gives homework on information not yet taught, give questions on quizzes that we haven't learned how to do yet (or learned it five minutes before we took it), won't answer questions in class and doesn't reply to emails that are not compliments.
Teaches adequately, disorganized, funny and has genuine interest in chemistry. Writing is pretty hard to read. If you miss something, she'll put it back up. Responds to e-mails, but use the TA more often.
she doesn't teach well
toth is nice and willing to help, the stuff she teaches is hard but if you ask your TA you should do fine. But the thing that pisses me off are her tests, there are some questions she never covered before.
I went into this class thinking the instructor was fun and quirky... do NOT let this happen to you. Switch out. She is a horrible teacher and her tests do not coincide with that textbook that well, so if you're lost, you are screwed. Some of her questions are really vague and TA's hate her.
If you feel like studying your ass off for a C then take this class
Absolutely HORRIBLE! She can't teach, and she her tests are awful. She tests on the exceptions, not the rules. Switch out.

She is totally and absolutly... too smart for her own good. She is unable to convey her thoughts at all. Her practice exams give you questions that will not nessesarily be on the exam, and she will make sure to put a few topics on the actual exam that were not on the practice one, very difficult.
Very disorganized. Difficult to understand verbally. Poor handwriting. Had a habit of grading homework with material not covered in lecture. No grading scale.
She's not as hard as others are making it seem. Read the book and take the time to honestly learn the material. I got an A without working my ass off. She also tries to pull off experiments and makes them interesting when she does.
BAD!!! She is really unorganized, unhelpful, and her tests are hard - there is a lot of material that is not covered well enough for you to answer her questions because she works through really easy and simple examples during lecture but she puts really hard and complex questions on the exams. My TA hated her as did everyone in the lecture.
I hated this class. I couldn't read her notes on the overhead b/c her writing was so illegible. The lectures made no sense at all and the exams were ridiculous. I basically stopped going to the class b/c I gained nothing by actually being there. I pity you if you have her.
Horrible...You can't understand her at all and there are quizzes and tests on things we didn't go over. The only reason I occasionally go to class is so I don't miss a clicker quiz.
It's really not so bad, once you get used to how incredibly fast she speaks sometimes, and how incredibly fast she goes through her notes. It took me about 3 weeks, and it wasn't so bad anymore. As for the tests, just studied, and generally did well. You'll have to work.
She is a really nice lady and cares if you care. Study hard and go to class, and make sure you READ THE BOOK!
Stay away from this professor. Her ppt presentations are absolutely useless, and you can't understand a word she says once she gets going. If you take chem with her, and don't have a lot of high school experience...do every OWL assignment and read the book. Also, every time I' have spoken with her at office hours, she is very very rude.
A completly egocentric woman. She doesnt care about her students at all. Ok if you dont really have any questions or problems with chemistry.
She talks really really fast and she has a heavy accent so you wind up not bothering to pay attention to her during her lectures because it's too hard to figure out what she's trying to say. Her powerpoint goes as fast as she talks so you'd better write fast!
very unclear....
The worst university professor one could find at UF. She is absolutely a mess! Always rushing chapters and acting as if we know it all. READING is essential for this class. Try not to get her as a professor.
This is an easy class. She is not a good teacher because she is disorganized and gets confused by her lecture notes. Clickers make u go to class and she gives a few take home quizzes. Study a little and you will get an A. If you need a teacher taht goes slowly and lets you copy the whole board, dont take her. She is not as bad as ppl say she is.
Her class is an utter waste of time. She rushes through the very few examples she gives, concentrates far too much on insignificant concepts, and generally fails to weave together the information into a coherent picture. Luckily, the content is incredibly simple. Just go to discussion and make sure to READ THE BOOK instead of her notes.
Going to lecture pointless...tests are not from her notes at all, so there is no point in writing those down...Isn't very helpful or clear in teaching the concepts, and if I didn't have a good chemistry background i would not have done well..Tests for the most part are straight forward, but they are very tricky..read the book
In repsonse to a couple of the comments I read below.. her accent does take a couple of lectures to get fully used to, but then it sounds normal. She is very fair in grading and testing. I am thinking about taking intro to analytic chem w/ her for next semester.
She should not be in a classroom. She needs to stay with her research. You can't ask questions during lecture, she scribbles with her back to you and she's rude. She doesn't teach by the book, but assigns book problems. Going to class is completely pointless.
She said that she will not curve even though the average is around ~40 based on what fellow students anticipate they are getting on the second exam. Organic chem was easy for me but I have been r@p*d by her.
This was the most pointless class I have ever taken. Her two hour lecture is torture and she makes it impossible to stay awake. She does not answer questions during lecture and spends the whole time writing from her notes with her back to the class. When the class average is a 30...that says enough
Actually, the averages for the three tests were 61, 65 and 71.5, so it isn't THAT bad. She is an average teacher with average teaching abilities. I wouldn't suggest her, but I wouldn't say do not take analytical with her. Just study, intelligently and you ought to do fine.
Terrible with communication and teaching. She re-writes her notes on the board, doesn't answer questions, doesn't turn around, and might as well not give partial credit on the exams. Find a different teacher for analytical. If you have to have 25 points extra added to a test to achieve a C average it indicates a poor teacher.
Absolutely terrible. I am a good student, and did well in her class, but only because of other help not from her. She doesn't know the material and has no respect for students.
She is a god awful teacher. She makes up her own way of solving problems, that do not even work half the time. If you solve a problem correctly, but you did not solve it her stupid ass way, you will get no credit. When she makes a mistake grading your test, she will walk out on you in her office, and tell you that she does not want to talk about it
Prof Toth has a lot of negative reviews, but I think most people just don't like chemistry. In class, she explains concepts rather than doing example problems (which is good b/c examples are in the book). She is a friendly person, very willing to help outside class. There isn't going to be a teacher that can make you learn if you don't try.
She obviously knows her stuff but communicating it to the class is another story. She skips around and has nearly illegible handwriting. If you can avoid it, don't take her class. her quizzes/tests are easier than others I've seen, but she is an all around horrible lecturer.
This lady is a terrible teacher, taught everything to myself. Dont even bother going to class and trying to understand. Just go to tutoringzone and youll be fine, but get a diff prof if it is manageable
Toth is a horrible teacher. I'm sure she knows her stuff, but when it comes to conveying it she falls incredibly short. If you have her class, I would suggest switching to a different section or waiting if you actually intend on learning from your professor. Very disappointed in UF for even having such a teacher.
Toth's sharp tongue may be humorous at first, but after witnessing her COMPLETE lack of concern for her students, (she will not help you, sorry), her inability to follow a course guideline (not organized), & her desire to make her quizzes as impossible as possible... there is much to be desired. Switch out, FAST.
Toth is unbelievably rude. If you ask a question in class that she thinks is stupid she will ridicule you in front of the entire class. In the office she is worse. She is by far the rudest person I have ever met...incredibly condescending. I am not just saying this because of my final grade in the class, for I am still taking the class.
I had toth during my fall semester, I would recommend her to anyone. As long as you can get past her accent you should be fine. Everything that came out of her mouth was written, if you took notes and tried to at least skim through the book you could ace her quizes. The only problem was she didnt make her own exams, otherwise, she is good!!!
Dr. Toth tries to help you familiarize with the concepts. You don't just learn tricks to solve problems, she really wants you to know how chemistry works. The lecture notes will make up most of your studying material, while you'll hardly ever pick up the textbook, so consider attendance mandatory.
Not the best professor at UF but not the worst. Quizes were very easy, as were the exams, just study the notes that you fill out in class. As for her accent, it wasn't that bad maybe a few words that were hard to understand. The thing about Toth is she can be very rude to students. Ask a wrong questions and she ridicules you. Not too bad tho.
Incredibly rude. I went to her office hours after the first exam for help and she wouldn't help me. She ridicules people in front of the entire class. I went to every class, studied the practice exams (of which only half were similar questions) and her notes and got a C+ in the class.
If you sit in the front row where she sees you, answer her questions (though most people consider them rhetorical), she will smile and be nice to you. However, if you go to her office asking about how she worked a problem, she will repeat the unclear procedure then ask you, "Are you seriously not getting this? Are you even thinking?" ... AVOID.
The flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz called...they want their Wicked Witch back. Don't worry flying monkeys, Toth will never get tenured!
toth conveys the material well (writes on overhead, no powerpoints). go to class and take notes, do practice problems from the book. and don't ask bad questions. chm2045 will never be an easy A class, but toth was a pretty good teacher.
Toth really knows chem. Has a bad rep for some reason but I don't understand why-- she's funny and the class taught me a lot. Don't expect to put in no work and get an A. But it's chem so there's no way around actually learning the material, which can be difficult at times no matter who the teacher is. I would definitely recommend her.
She's a really sweet lady. Her tests are really fair and are a good reflection of the material she teaches . I recommend doing the practice exams, actually try on her hw/quizzes, and doing the additional problems to study for her exams. If you do all that you will get definitely get an A. Oh yea going class helps!!
I dont know what everyone is talking about her being rude or sarcastic to students- she jokes around during lecture, but that just keeps it interesting. She is very helpful during office hours and really makes sure you understand the material. I was skeptical of taking her at first, but Im glad I did.
Toth is the easiest Chem 2 professor there is. Your grade is out of 800 points. 4 exams @ 200 each, and there is 115 points extra credit. You can get 75's on every exam and still pull an A. She's nice up front but pretty nasty in office hours if you want her to explain something. Not very personable but I'd recommend her because of the extra credit
She is definitely one of the easier chem2046 teachers. Easy A but regarding her teaching she is not good. She has terrible hard to read handwriting and will not stop for students if they have questions. She is rude in class and especially rude if you go to her office hours. Not a good teacher at all.
Very nice up front. If you have questions and want to go to office hours make sure you have a good grip on the material. She will not just give you an answer , you have to work for it. Test are relatively easy. Some test questions come right from the homework/quizzes. Jokes around in class but can sometimes move a little fast. Use her website.
Toth's exams are fair, and she gives extra credit in H.W. and quizzes that helps alot with your grade. She rarely uses the book, but encourages you to practice problems in the book. Going to class really helps with learning alot of the material, I went to her lectures everyday and it really helped me.
best teacher for chemistry two, never went to class but when i did it was really helpful and explained well and her tests were very fair. study edge predicted her tests perfectly and made it simple to do well in the class. homework and quizzes are completion grades so that helped boost grades as well. take her if you can!
Toth is a great and easy CHM2046 teacher with a lot of experience. Although lectures can get boring if you understand the material, I never had a problem asking her questions. She always responded nicely and eagerly. People who say she is mean don't try to figure out their questions on their own or are just bad at chemistry. All notes are online.
She is a good professor, though I never went to class after the first exam. The exams are all easy and the extra credit is nice because you don't have to worry about acing the exams. I definitely recommend having her as a teacher.
She is one of the easier CHM2046 teachers. Test are very fair 19 MC questions and one equation you need to write. Though she is foreign her english is not the best, but she is very sweet. Study edge predicts her tests pretty well. Going to her office hours does help, she is very helpful when you show an interest.
I would definitely recommend her for CHM2046. Don't really use the textbook that much. Go to class and pay attention, look over her notes and you'll do fine. Her benefit is that she gives a LOT of extra credit (every HW + quiz). No dropped exams but the extra helps. Her exams are straightforward. I got an A.
EXTRAAA CREDITTTTTT
One of the easier CHM2046 professors. All the homeworks and quizzes are bonus points, and her exams are really similar to the practice exams. Definitely take with her
If you expect to understand her lectures, please lower your expectations. I stopped going to class after the first two weeks because I was not retaining anything she said since she jumps around everywhere. The only good thing about her class is the 75 points of EC, which is almost necessary with her tricky tests.
There is extra credit in this class it doesn't help compared to how difficult her tests are. She dropped an exam because she was too lazy to make up her own exam, instead another kid found it to take as a practice exam and it ended up being the test. Because of that she made the third and final exam so much harder.
One of the easier chem profs at UF. Assigns 95 pts of EC (HWs + Quizzes). Exams very similar to practice exams, but can be very tricky. GO TO CLASS bc she memorizes your face! Plus you'll fill out the WorkSheets bc she posts her notes only a couple days before the exam : To study for exam: Know her WS, HWs & quizzes like the back of ur hand!!!
Toth is not the greatest lecturer. i did not go to class but got an A by doing all the hw and quizzes and scoring an average of a B on the exams. She was annoying in the fact that she dropped an exam just because study edge used one of her old practice exams. study hard.
I wouldn't recommend her to anyone who will be taking CHM2046. She is an bad lecturer. Bad as if in the sense that a lot of the materials she went over either too quick or not useful, very random material, we ended up didn't even cover the nuclear chemistry part of chem 2. She made mistakes on her answer keys for all of the in-term exams.
Wanna actually learn chemistry and actually make your hardwork pay, don't pick her. I received my grade because I have a better chem foundation. She is not the professor you will learn things from. I got through her class largely with the help from Study edge. Avoid her if you can for your tuition money and education.
Tricky exams if you don't memorize EVERYTHING - the extra credit helps a little bit, but there was not a curve. Study Edge is a must (chapter& exam reviews) Practice exams are WAY easier than the real exams, so know your stuff! Sit up front if you want her to know you (or call you out for texting!) I would choose a different professor if possible.
Toth is the worst professor I've ever experienced. Don't be fooled by the extra credit, it won't help. Her tests are incredibly hard. She won't admit to any mistakes whether they are on her exams, lectures, or worksheets and won't answer emails Her lectures are all over the place so if you must take her, rely on StudyEdge. They are your only hope.
Toth is definitely something.. She isn't afraid to call you out in class if you're on your phone. The hw is extra credit (up to 80-90 points) and there are 3 exams and a final (no drop.) Her notes aren't clear and she tends to not care what her students think. I got an A heavily relying on study edge and the text book.
A nightmare. Her accent makes it difficult to understand and she's not helpful in office hours or in lecture. Study edge is the only reason I passed but her class still ruined my GPA. Take CHM2046 with any professor but her.
Don't take this class. No chemistry student choose this chemistry class.
amazing
Anna Toth is a sweet lady and this score above does not reflect the quality of her class or her grading. Understand that I took chem 1 at uf and struggled yet chem 2 with toth seemed to be very fair and the material was easily picked up from the worksheets she gives out. This teacher is a god sent if big exams arnt really your thing.
Stay away from her! She is unclear in lectures and often makes mistakes or contradicts herself, and then WON'T correct them (even on exams). Her practice exams are way easier than actual exams. Useless in office hours, she redirects you to the TAs who are also clueless. I almost changed my major from chem to something else because of her.
I got an A in chm 1 w/ Gower and received a C+ in chem 2 with Toth. She has no sympathy for her students. I went into anaphylaxis the night before her final exam and I was touched she let me take a makeup. However, the makeup turned out to be 4 questions free response on only exam 2 material unlike the original final which was 40 MC. Would not rec.
If you can take anyone else, do it. She is hard to work with, her lectures don't really make sense, and everything I learned was from study edge. If you have to take her don't miss an exam, she'll cheat you out of points. 10/10 do NOT reccomend
Very nice woman, but a poor instructor (it is clear her ambitions and interests lie within research rather than lecture). Lectures are comprised of difficult-to-follow powerpoints that do not aid in understanding the material. Grade only comes from exams (which are 10 questions and multiple-choice, giving you no room for mistakes). Do not recommend
Unclear lectures and deliberately makes tests more difficult in order to make the average failing . Convoluted power points. Actual lectures are also unclear.
This prof cant teach at all. Your entire grade depends on 4 extremely difficult exams and nothing else. The exams are only 10 questions, so you can only miss 3 questions if you want to pass. There was EC on the exams but you only got 50min/exam so you couldn't finish in time. The only study materials were PPT and textbook which were both useless.
The PPT consists of random pictures and sometimes lectures get dragged out because she forgets how to solve her own questions in class. She gets very defensive when you try to ask any questions. Exams consist of 10 mlt choice questions and one bonus which doesnt leave much room for error considering the grade is only based off of exams.
Dr. Toth was not a great professor to have for this class. With COVID making it online, all of her lectures were pre-recorded the summer before. She stayed pretty absent other than the occasional class email. Her lectures were confusing and seemed to jump around a lot. I had to completely rely on StudyEdge this semester to even pass with my B.
Toth seems like a nice lady but her lectures did not explain the material very well. She mostly copied from her notes and gets confused often. I relied on Study Edge a lot and the practice problems didn't reflect the exams much. One good thing would be that hw was for completion and gone over during discussion so you would get an explanation why.
I would take any other professor for Chem 2 if possible. You will simply learn nothing from watching her lectures and her handwriting is impossible to understand. I relied solely on StudyEdge to get an A in this class and did not watch any of her lectures. Many exams questions are straight from the practice homework she gives out though.
The class itself was probably impossible without StudyEdge. I found her lectures useless. Other than that, however, her exams were never too tough, I found them very fair. The grading scale being 85% exams is rough on its own though so basically just focus on the exams. Homework/overall workload is light. An A is possible with StudyEdge.
There was lots of stuff in her lectures that did not correspond to the exams. The exams are fair and doable though WITH STUDYEDGE! StudyEdge was a lifesaver and was the only reason I was able to do well in her class. Also look over the homework and quizzes for each exam. There is also a homework every week that was easy to keep up with.
Practice some self-love and don't take her class. StudyEdge is necessary to get a B or better at least. Imagine a world where you have to pay an additional $50 a month to properly get taught the material you pay thousands a year for. She takes forever to grade too so if you already suffer from anxiety good luck with that. Do better UF.
Get Study Edge. I did not understand what was happening ever in her recorded lectures and only understood material from Study Edge and taking the lab with it. During coronavirus, she only communicated with the whole class about three times as well. That being said, take her with study edge over Murray if those are your only choices.
Please avoid this professor. Online lectures are the bare minimum and little to no communication with students. Even by reading the textbook, doing practice problems, and taking detailed notes, the exam material was difficult. There is seriously some disconnect between the lecture and homework content vs the exams.
Dr. Toth can be a bit confusing in her lectures, but is overall a solid choice compared to the alternatives. She can be very interesting; one of her lectures included her deducing the theoretical temperature of hell. Read the textbook and you'll be fine.
I took Professor Toth for Chem 2 and while the exams were difficult, I managed to get an A- in the class. I used Study Edge mainly to do well in the course since Professor Toth was difficult to understand. It made the exams much easier. She was a caring person, and she let me take my final late after an unexpected death of a very close friend.
Compared to other CHM2046 professors her lectures were not as helpful but her tests were way more manageable. I was able to finish every exam in the time limit. Definitely relied heavily on Study Edge as her lectures were not great and it helped a lot with understanding the material and for preparing for the exams. There was also a weekly HW
Professor Toth's lectures can come off as somewhat unorganized, but they pretty much tell you exactly what she expects for her exams. Repetition is key for this class. If you're able to do all the questions on the homework and worksheets, you'll be good.
Professor Toth has good intentions as a Professor but very bad execution. I never knew what to expect on the Exams and like many others had relied on StudyEdge in order to pass this class. One positive about her class is that she has a vary good grading scale.
Exams are based on lectures not textbook curriculum and she talks about random things unrelated to what we should have to know.
She doesn't change her exams much, and will have questions on them that you'll only ever see if you have Study Edge; they come out of nowhere. Lectures aren't bad, I went to every lecture and recommend it for extra content review. Make sure to study hard and keep up with content! Exams are 20 qu's so you need to make them count.
Professor Toth is the worst professor I have had at UF. This class's content is relatively easy and she manages to make it hard. She is horrible at lecturing, there is no structure to the class, and ALL I WANT IS A LIST OF TEXTBOOK PAGES TO READ. I never know what to expect on the exams because I don't even know what topics to study. F-
I just used study edge for this class, she really doesn't give enough practice problems to her students and the ones that we do have are way to easy compared to the test material. I didn't go to class once and got an A.
Toth is the best of the worst. If you use study edge when you take her class, you should do well! Exams in this class were much more straight forward than other teachers. As long as you have Study Edge, you will be good! I didn’t watch a single lecture and only went to one class but didn’t find it useful!
Dr. Toth is not a very good professor. Her lectures are boring and unclear, and her exams are not similar to her lectures at all. Your best bet is to read the textbook and do every single bit of practice problems in the homework in order to do well in the class.
Toth was a very very bad teacher. Her lectures were impossible to understand, yet you still had to attend them due to clicker questions. The Study Edge review sessions and practice problems were the only way to understand the content and study for the exams.
She's is a nice lady, but not a great teacher. Her lectures are incredibly confusing and don't reflect the exams in the slightest. She also constantly messes up grades. Her class is easy (not including exams) because she doesn't take attendance and grades assignments for completion. You'll do fine if you get study edge. That's the ONLY way.
Dr. Toth is a seriously bad lecturer. Most people do not go to her class after the first exam and will just use study edge. If you do use study edge, tests are pretty straightforward and you will have a good idea of what will be on the exam. Also, all homework and quizzes were graded on completion so it was a very easy class save for the exams.
Exams are everything in this class and she doesn't give any practice except her handwritten worksheets. Don't expect to learn from this class, just be ready to handle her exams. Good thing is there is basically no homework or any other work as long as you show up to discussion sessions once per week.
Unless you have taken a course that covered Chem 2 material or are willing to purchase Study Edge, you will not do well in this course. She does not adequately cover the Chem 2 curriculum. No practice exams, no keeping your exams, & her homework and quizzes (+the optional homework) are unhelpful. Few resources are given to succeed on exams.0 stars.
Her content is outdated and doesn't match what other chm2046 students are learning. Any resource she gives is nothing like the exam questions. She doesn't like when people ask her questions, and she gets offended when people do not understand what she says. Take literally any other professor for chm2046.
This is a tough class. Dr. Toth's grading is based very heavily on exams. There is a small percentage of your grade that is based on discussion. Without study edge, it is hard to gauge what to expect on the exams. Overall, I would expect to do a lot of learning and practicing on your own.
teaches different material than other chem 2 profs, grades pretty much only on exams (80%+ of grade), doesn't seem to care about students, hard to follow along with her during lectures. use study edge if you want to know what's going to be on the exam bc she doesn't give much practice. don't buy the textbook- she doesn't use it.
80% of your grade is exams and the rest is discussion. You NEED!! study edge to pass unless you're just naturally good at chem. Her lectures are useless and she's very mean when you ask her anything about your grade. DONT GET ALEKS save your money, it's not needed nor graded. Don't take Toth unless you have no other choice and you're good at chem
80% of your grade is exams and the rest is discussion. You NEED!! study edge to pass unless you're just naturally good at chem. Her lectures are useless and she's very mean when you ask her anything about your grade. DONT GET ALEKS save your money, it's not needed nor graded. I meant to make this review for chm2046, it published earlier for chm1
You will have to teach yourself much of the content, study edge was a lifesaver. Worksheets and quizzes are only graded on completion but exams had content outside of them. No practice exams are provided and exam questions could not be taken home for final review, nor were they posted online
Very hard time understanding her lectures. Teaches different concepts than other chem professors. You need study edge in order to get a passing grade. Does not use ALEKS or textbook. Recommend any other chem professor.
Kind professor but has horrible lectures. I stopped going to class mid-semester and just relied on study edge and ended with an A. I would say 90% of the questions on the final exam were covered by study edge so I would recommend getting it if you want a good grade since they tend to predict her exam questions very well
I thought her teaching and explanations were confusing. Additionally, when coming in during office hours, her tone was very rude and she would get upset when asked questions about class material !
