Worst teacher ever.
Prof. Tripp is Really cool. I really enjoyed her class.. There is some writing involved but it is an English Class. She was Really nice, sympathetic, and friendly. i would definitely recommend her to anyone!!!

These 098 students are whining because there is work involved.. ITS A CLASS, WORK IS PART OF IT.. GET OVER IT! TRIPP IS NICE, Intelligent and an all around great professor! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
She grades fair but gives a lot of busy work. Most of the students did not get a lot out of reviewing another student's paper. A little disorganized.

Horrible teacher.I've never been so frustrated in my life. Makes you resubmit papers for the smallest mistakes. She grades too strictly and then complains that she has to sit down and read a bunch of rebsummited papers. Tripp, here's a suggestion: don't grade that strictly ... its eng 098!
funny and fun to be in class with most classes with groupwork, but grades way too strict. you think ur doing well but then the next day she hands back your hw saying resubmit..you have to go thru reading the book and writing a new assignment, or even an entire essay. Do not take. Find someone else.
She is one of the most fun teachers. Its almost like being taught by oneof your friends. She is very Liberal, conservatives should not take this class. She is easy on grading and always gives a second chance. I would always recomend her to anyone whois taking this class
She's a good teacher. She tries to help students who are falling behind and is focused on making sure students pass the class. She's very helpful and replies to emails real quick. She can be a little unclear about what she wants sometimes but she's willing to clarify for you if you ask.

She's a cool person outside of the classroom. Although, in the classroom she grades very hard. I never got higher than a C in that class. And this semester alone, she has failed 5 people from my class. So if you see your class getting smaller and smaller, you know why..
I got the feeling that she played favorites with certain people. I ended up doing well in the class but because of her attitude toward me motivated me to prove her wrong about my writing ability. Take that anyways you wish.
She is a really fun teacher. Her class is never boring and i really learned a lot from her. She grades hard but it pushes you to try harder. She does not give too much work. I recommender her and everyone in my class loved her
pretty funny teacher. her grades are never negotiable. thought she was hard at first but found it quite easy, but continued to see other students suffering. pretty hard grader. easy grammar final. agonzing process of your final "group essay and presentation."

I liked her a lot.She is very helpful and understanding.I was really behind,but she let me turn things in when I talked to her.She might present herself as strict at first, but she's not that bad.She even gives a lot of days off class so that she can have meetings about ur essay if you want the help
Great teacher, I just loved her, she helped me so much, take her class she is just great!
Be warned: she is a very difficult teacher and you will be doing a lot of writing and rewriting. Having said that, I am very glad I took the class and very proud of he outcome of putting a lot of hard work into it. Most of your time will be spent writing outside; hardly do anything during classtime.
Comming from Pas097 i thought eng 155 was going to be harder. You hardly go to class, you dont really do anything when you do. You have not alot of homwork and all year you only write 3 essays. Not that bad of a class
She was very unclear and was never organized. She made most of the material very difficult to understand. I hated her, she made students feel stupid and she thought she was better than everyone else. I will never take another class she teaches again!

DO NOT take 4 summer school unless you plan to do lots of intensive struggling! asigns a HUGE load of work and expects a lot from you. really looks and every detail. very anal retentative. on the plus side, she has a sense of humor and is pretty.
Well, it’s a summer class so do not expect to slack off. Funny,& cool to talk to. She is very pretty. She is also smart, so take the class you will have fun! She expects a lot from you because she wants to teach you how to write. If you need help she is willing to take her personal time and work with you. A. Tripp is TOTALLY A ROCKING PROFFESOR!
oh she's bomb! i took her freshmen year, she's awsome she is tough tho, and you do gotta really prove u can write, but she's really good and she can help you if you need it. DOn't slack off, she'll catch you, but she's bomb i'd take her again ne day
tripp seems really nice at first but she asks for alot of work. Every essay she will most likely have to rewrite and she is a pretty hard grader. She is strict and everything must be done a certain way. She a little scattered and doesnt answer alot of questions.
For an 098 class, I was not hard as long as all works are done. Just worry about your attendance and if you passed the essays and you will pass the class. 098 is a Credit non-credit calss so you dont have to aim for an "A". just be sure to get something from the class by asking question because she is willing to help!
She's kind of ****y. She plays favorites which suck. I don't know what's up with her grading system, but it's unfair. You can write a damn good essay and get a 6 out of 10. She has conferences, she's unhelpful. She just jots down some crap and tells you to go fix them in red ink. Oh yeah correct your drafts or die. Otherwise the class isn't 2 bad.
She was good at the beginning of the semester, but the last four weeks were aweful. We had a couple of HUGE assignments to do in a short period of time. Sometimes she can be unorgonized and forgetful. I like her as a person, but the class was a bit tedious towards the end.
Oh boy...this is the worst professor I have ever had! Her workload is unrealistic, there are major assignments due weekly, she grades hard, she plays favorites with students, she is sarcastic and often rude. Her attendance policy is rediculous and she does not care what your excuse is...you could be dying and she would drop you. HORRIBLE!
She is very demanding of her students, but that isn't really a bad thing is it? This is a 400 level class afterall! She pushes her moral, political and religious views on the class which makes for an uncomfortable environment though. I'd give her a 7 out of 10, she isn't as bad as others say. She is funny too.

There is a lot of work, but it's spaced out through the semester. Most people complain because they wait until the last minute to turn work in. Very knowledgable teacher. This is a good class in which to learn the criteria for choosing excellent children's literature.
all i have to say is.... just do your work and you will pass. make sure you do not miss any assignments. all they are, are 10 summary responses (one every friday) and 3 major essays with 2 drafts each...and portfolio, but overall a fun class. shes real nice
At first she seems nice, but the whole class is rediculous. She makes you turn in work in hard copies AND post them on some web site, if you do all the work, turn it in on time but do no post it there you get no credit, rediculous! We never did any lit discussions in class, most of the time was spent marking papers. Back to highschool you go.

She's cruel. She's crazy. I can't stand her teaching style. Three absents and you fail. FAIL?! I understand a lowered grade, but a fail? She doesn't like or trust any of her students. She's arrogant and self involved. I've never been so stressed during my entire college career. She keeps picking on me and threatening my grade. I don't like her.
She is pretty good and knows her stuff just expect a lot of reading!!! and make you get your stuff done and the year will fly by
Worst teacher I've ever had. This class was a joke. I didn't learn a thing and she constantly made up bogus assignments. She gave us so much busy work and then at the end she dropped half the class. You fail if you miss three classes! Don't take this teacher! Run the other direction!

She is so mean... get's mad at everything. Some students thought she is crazy, kind of beginning to believe it. Take the class if you want to do a lot of work and DO NOT, DO NOT procrastinate. You will suffer if you do procrastinate.
attendin to this class was my biggest mistake i ever made. she doesnt help you at all and she is always complaning about the students. she makes you do alot of work and she doesnt comprehend if you couldnt attend to class for a personal reason. she is a really bad teacher

Sesriously this is not a bad class. Only three big essays, some online assignments, and classwork here and there. I recommend her for a someone who wants a chill class
she is a teacher who always complains about her life when no on cares! doesnt accept papers for stupid reasons and could be the most boring class you will ever take! She has strong opinions about what she believes in and doesnt take others into consideration!!!
Professor Tripp is an excellent teacher and her class is a piece of cake. You only have to write 3 essays and she lets the class chose the topics. You peer review twice before turning them in and she lets the class debate their point of view. I was scared to take her class but I dont regret it. I learned a lot, and it was pretty fun.
This teacher is the best professor I have had at CSUN she is strict when it comes to turning work in on time. She is a wonderful person that cares alot about her students.
Ms. Tripp is such a great teacher. The work that she gives is VERY easy. In my class we did 3 essays, and a paper on the martian chronicles, and a few online assignments. My only warning is dont miss more than 3 classes and dont turn in online work late because she makes you do extra credit to pass the class is you do one of those things.
A student actually learns in this class. even though she is strict, she is a really good professor. She was always in a cheerful mood. If you need extra help with your paper, take advantage of her office hours. She will help you become a better writer. I dont regret taking her.
Dont recommend taking her if you are a slacker, you will just end up doing more work than necessary. But if you do your work on time, it will be an easy class. if you need help writing your papers, see her during her office hours, she is always there to help you out. Go to class and dont turn in anyting late or else you will have alot of work to do

Grading is unfair because it is based on word count rather then content which is unfair! I wish I would of waited to take this class at another time instead of with Tripp because anything would of been better then being in this class. And shes not helpful And the final was based on stuff she never taught which is unfair! :(
I think she was the worst Prof I had in all of undergrad/grad school. Class was pointless and she taught us nothing. I had her about 9 years ago, and remember having awkward conferences at starbucks..really weird. She definitely had her favorite students and her disliked students which was very apparent.
Do not take her at all.She is a horrible teacher and helps only if she likes you. You will learn nothing. It is deffinately not a class you can slack off in.

Ms Tripp is an awesome teacher. All the people who say she's the worst at CSUN are the people who are slackers who don't study and then blame the teacher when they get poor grades. She cares about her job and is very helpful to students.
This class was really easy. We did 3 essays, online summaries, and NO FINAL! We often don't have to show up to class because we had conferences or online class. She's really strict about late work. Don't slack off or you'll be doing a lot of extra credit. The class is pretty fun and she's pretty cool, it's an easy class.
You guys are out of your mind. Professor Tripp was one of the best professor I had at CSUN. She's super clear on what she wants from the student in order to pass. Only 2 major essays, one in class essay and a cover due. No final, no midterm. Super nice! Tells stories about her life and always knows how to get the class up & filled with high energy!
I would not recommended her as a teacher. I did well in class and she is clear, but she is very close minded. She believed only she can be right and she doesn't believe in writer's choice. Doesn't like others opinions either.

She really is a great teacher, but there is a lot of work in this class. There are 3 major essays due and a portfolio in the end. Don't forget to bring your books when she asks you... she gets pissed. Attendance is VERY Important- you only get 5 strikes...then you're out.
It's absurd that anyone allows this woman to teach. Her explanations of guidelines are confusing and unclear, telling you HOW to write or speak (in presentations) instead of WHAT to write. Grades are based on her (and ONLY her) opinion, and WORD COUNT. Assigns "presentations" so she doesn't have to teach. Easy class if you have HER perspective.

Ok, in her class you actually work hard for your grade, however, I like that though. I like the fact that I have to work hard for a A and rethink and constantly rewrite my paper. In her class, the reality is that you are not a genius but you are a student. You need to realize that she is here to make you better, and she does her job well
Tripp provides no rubric for the material she grades, and therefore, her grading style is 100% SUBJECTIVE. She found the example essays in the required textbook to be "bad". The only examples she provides are those that are ones the class shouldn't use. Tripp should not be an educator.

WOW AMAZING CLASS. WE HAD A LOT OF READING TO DO BUT IT WAS LIKE A BOOK CLUB. I LOVED THIS CLASS. SHE IS SO FUN. I DONT KNOW ABOUT HOW SHE IS IN HER OTHER CLASSES BUT U MUST TAKE HER FOR ENGLISH 429=D THE BOOKS ARE A MUST BUT U CAN CHECK THEM OUT AT THE LIBRARY.
If you know how to write a strong, MLA-compliant essay, you will do fine. If you don't already know MLA, be prepared to learn quickly and on your own. She's very busy and lower-level classes are not her priority; you have to persistently seek her out if you need help. Lots of group work. Not willing to mediate group arguments. Very hands-off.
Honestly she is a great teacher. She DOES push you to be your best. I thought I wrote great essays...turned out I got a B+ on her class, next semester (113B) I really worked hard on my essays and I went to see her in her office 2+ times for every essay. Got an A. DONT SLACK. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. 3 essays, and no FINAL. Seriously amazing class.
She's out of touch. She can't relate with her students, but she acts like she knows where we are coming from. I had her for an hour, twice a week. The first 30 minutes of each were spent talking about her personal life. She needs to be clear on what she wants in her research paper. Grading on word count? One can only write so much about 1 paragraph
She was a wonderful teacher. If a student was unclear about something all they have to do is ask, she will be sure to help them understand. If you meet her half way, she will be there for you. JUST WORK HARD. She gives you a thesis, shows you what she wants in your essays, then you use your own creativeness to write your own essay, simple!
class was fun to attend, but I LEARNED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! Pr. Tripp didn't teach us ANYTHING! and the day of the final, she expected us to know everything! (there were stuff in the final that werent even in the syllabus!) 90% of the class was PISSED! out of the three papers due- i receive 2 A's and a B... so HOW DID I GET A C AS A FINAL GRADE?
Don't take her class!U can't learn nothing about English.The attending policy is major issue!She think we can learn English by editing each other essay.How could it be possible!If most of The student have problem on writing,also it not their first language.However if you be on time for whole semester on class and assignment.U probably can get A-B.
The only way to get a decent grade is to think the way she does. She is very close minded, so if your writing style differs from hers, she will tell you that your thought is incomplete and your paper was poorly written. I received my first D on a paper. I had another professor review it, and thought my paper was genius. It says something!
Tripp is nice and very funny, but she's not very good at explaining things clearly. The course is interesting and engaging, but you won't learn too much by the end of it. If you need an easy course to fill out your schedule, this is a good one to take.
I took her Eng113A class last semester. On top of everything, I don't know what I learned from her;pretty much nothing. Just submit a lot of essays and homeworks and she is a hard grader. She dismissed class twice during one semester for nothing and gave students a lot of assignments for that. If you want to learn something, don't take her!
She is a hard teahcer. gives a lot of work but you become a better wrtitter,I did.
She needs to be more clear on what she wants in her research paper and other responses she asks for. Everything she expects to be very in depth. Even when you think you did that, she doesn't. Very interesting class, fun, but hard grader!!!!!
Professor Tripp is a tripp!
Literary theory is difficult enough. Having a professor who can't teach it is even worse. Doesn't explain theories, just reads them out of the book and expects you to get them. Answers emails in an untimely manner, if at all. Refused to answer questions about the final. This class was horrendous.
I do not recommend taking this course with her. I didn't really learn anything in this class. Course consists of 12 summary-responses based off a very dry book, a presentation, paper, and participation. She is very strict and wants everything her way, so it was hard doing her assignments. She would also get mad when students would use the restroom

Out of my 2 years at CSUN she got the prize for worst prof.Inattentive, unfocused, ill prepared, made it priority that we be prompt while she came in late, did not lead the class. Confusing and often time wasting group work.Do not let the class subject name fool you, look into whose teaching. Wish I would've done that. That's the lesson I learned.
Professor Tripp is a nice and funny professor. This semester in her class was fun and very helpful. The feedback that's he gives is very beneficial. I would recommend her class take for 113A! :)
I love Prof. Tripp, but if you are not ready to work don't take her. She is easy, in my opinion because i was ready to learn and my SI class was helpful. She is a tough grader and the thing i don't like about her is that she doesn't respond to emails quickly.
Second course I take with Tripp and only because it was the only time the course fit my schedule. She is very unorganized, takes a long time to return assignments, she isn't always available during her office hours unless you make an appointment, the final was pure vocabulary and unecessary to the course. If you can, avoid her class. Easy to pass.
Professor Tripp's class was the only one that fit with my schedule so I didn't have an option but to take her despite her reviews here. Assigns numerous essays that aren't returned for months, meanwhile students continue to work on assignments without knowing their writing isn't up to her standards. Tough grader, very intimidating.
Her class is mainly consists of group projects and work on your own. She doesn't teach much. I learn nothing from her lecture. What's the point of paying tuition and going to campus if you were working on your own in classroom?
She is a good prof! At the beginning, it was a little difficult; she grades tough on the first few essays (email her about your thesis before)! Attendance is graded, too. We had five fiction analyses, an in-class poetry essay, three easy vocab tests, and our final was a group presentation about a play. She gives extra credit (DO IT!) Recommended!
Prof. Tripp is a hard grader and there are group projects so be ready. You have to go to class otherwise you will lose points. There is extra credit work to help out and make sure you go see her about writing assignments. Oh and dont check your phone in class. It was a lot of work but I had fun and she is a funny teacher.
