boring
She had to be the best teacher I ever had. She's super nice and she has a very pleasant disposition about her. Her way of teaching is almost flawless, honestly. She thinks outside the box and she knows what she's talking about. If you do all her work you'll pass her class, easy. TRUST ME! and TAKE HER!
Don't recommended this class at all!She is too overwhelming, it like taking a honors class. Her directions are very unclear. The concept is interesting, her style of teach makes u hate it. She way over analyzes stories. She is very picky about her grading. Her tests are really hard. Alot of reading req This class was harder than a biology class I took
I loved this class!! she is such a good teacher and she makes everything fun. the reading is extremely fun and its cool to delve into the orgins and hidden meanings in childrens stories
She is very nice and understanding. I think that you should take her class.
she was good but u have to do all ur journals and also receiving good grades on the essays is very helpful towards ur grade
When this teacher assigns homework and you need to do it, come to class early and have homework out. She checks it gives credit. Make sure you do you journals right about anything.
Took her for 4 classes, shes Great. Do the Homework, and study daily. SHE LOVES HER JOB! Very with it, yet not. Like her.
childrens lit. i absolutely loved this class. she was a great teacher, very open to new ideas for discussion. you can tell she loves the subject and she passes that interest onto almost all of her students. I would reccoment this class to anyone!! have fun
she does not teach she talks about her personal life much and i could not take it so i droped the class because she gives home work and don't even grade it
Good teacher.
Uses the books a lot and doesn't want you to watch the movie isntead of the books because both are very different and she can tell the difference. Is very open with discussions =]
i think shes a good teacher... she called me and told me not to give up... honeslty one of the best teachers at citrus.. HIGHLY RECOMEND!
She is a good teacher but, is difficult at the same time. There is a lot of work she assigns. One essay after the other. If you are a part time student I suggest her. If you are extremely interested in english than I strongly recommend her. She is passionate about her work.
i took english 101 in the summer and thought it was sooo easy. she is really helpful and explains everything really well. she really helped me understand the basic necessities for english!
I took this Professor in Spring 2008 for English 100 and I loved it. It wasn't extremely hard, but was not a walk in the park. You do have to participate, and do the assignment, but come on...it is COLLEGE. She is fun, keeps it interesting and is very down to earth. She is a real person, and does a great job! Take her class, you will enjoy!
shes awsome
She is cool and nice.. very helpful but if you take her friday morning class, I recommend attending every class because you can fall behind really fast. but she is very understanding if you just talk to her in her office. Recommend
She's alright. she does talk a lot about her family. i think i got an A- in the class. When she explains assighnment it can be kind of confusing. it depends on you if you wanna take her. i liked her.
Mrs. Villeneuve has been the best teacher i have had at citrus thus far. she was incredibly helpful when it came to essay writing and really helped me improve in my writing skills. she allows plenty of time to complete the research paper and helps you along the way.very approachable. i highly recommend her
She is a great English teacher. she is fun and very helpful. i really enjoyed going to her class. Her class is fairly easy, just keep up with the assignments and you'll do just fine. i wish i could have had her for English 103. Defiantly take her! you wont regret it.
Mrs. V is a GREAT teacher!I had her for summer09. She's passionate about her job, i was nvr bored, be ON TIME!! otherwise ur homework wont be checked off.shes energetic, always in a happy mood, highly recommend her, she's worth it. and she's not hard, AT ALL.do ur work and participate, dont take her kindness for weakness.
class is literature based. lots of reading and 4 essays during semster. she will make your paper bleed and even when you ask for specific and detailed criticism, her responses are all cryptic. would not recommend. wish i could've taken someone else
Very unclear with her directions... dont reccomend her...
Professor Villeneuve is fun and easy! she is by far my favorite english teacher!
she is a very good teacher....she explains very good. i would take her again i do hope i pass her class...... she gives time to explain and is there when you need her
Very easy teacher! I had never gotten an A util i had this teacher. I would get good grades for all of the essay's she assigned. I absolutely lover her and I was never bored in her class. She is seriously an amazing teacher. I totally recommend her!!!
She is a very good teacher. She is very clear with her teaching and i recommend her to everyone. :) She is a lesbian which isnt a problem with me at all, but she did talk about it alot, so if u dont like gay people then dont take it. but if not she is a amazing teacher and really easy grading. :)))))
I completely love this professor. She's great at explaining the material, and she's also good at relating to her students. She always answered my questions 100% and never left me clueless. She's easy to understand and is really involved in making sure that you understand what's going on. It helps if you participate a lot.
I took her early in college and couldn't be bothered and wasted time in her class, but I could not get into it. A bit strange and really likes to mention her sexuality.
Mrs. V is one of the least clear teachers available at citrus. I asked her multiple questions about essays and she goes off about some story involving cheese encheladas... or something useless. She ALWAYS dances around the answer so she can always cover herself. Dont get me wrong she is nice but she is not that good of a teacher.
As long as all work is completed on time you should have no problem getting a good grade. She does mention every day that she is gay and that gets old really quick. I am one of the 5 out of 20 something that got an A in Eng 100
Do your work in this class and you will get an A.Don't bother asking her a question, because she is scatter-brained, and getting a clear and correct answer from her is close to impossible. Also, she has yet to stop mentioning the fact that she is gay.In my opinion, her flaunting her sexual orientation EVERY class sessios is a sign of her insecurity.
Mrs. V is amazing!!!! There is no other teacher like her on campus! She is a great facilitator of class discussion and she really cares about her students. You have to work for that A though. This is not a class to skip assignments here and there but doing every step and process, you will do just fine!
i took Mrs. V in the winter 011 and wooow was i amazed she is super cool..i loved the environment of her class she doesn't make it boring like more the half of the professors at citrus..she gives work but just do your part its not hard and dont be lazy its college
SHE CANNOT SPELL AT ALL! That was the one thing that bothered me the most! I did not trust her grading my essays. She also will state the minimum requirements but that is a C average. Make sure you do more than what she asks for!
I loved her class. I was never bored and she made it interesting. you will need to use the book and work hard for an A. I took her for the fall and we went through a lot of essays, one after the other. Just do all your homework and try on your essays. Many say she is a though grader, but she is just trying to improve your writing skills.
She was an awesome professor! I had her once a week for 3 hours and her class never put me to sleep! You do have to do a lot of thinking in her class, there are essays, and book work, but she's very helpful!
The grading of essays is hard. She favors kids in her class. Turn in everything early never late or you'll be F.C.ed.. and dont be sad when you notice her favoritsm towards people, she will allow them more slack it seems to be
She's a great professor. She's caring and smart. Her and her SI student are very helpful. I felt comfortable in her class but it is a bit difficult and she is a picky reader so just do all your work and turn it in in time and you'll be fine.
Ms. V is an awesome teacher with some downsides. She grades like we're english majors in our senior year, she can't spell, and she assigns a ton of homework. I was confused at the beginning of the semester. She made up for it, though. She let me fix my grade mid-semester by making up assignments, and I passed with a B.
Omg please!! do NOT take her worst teacher ever she is NEVER EVER clear with her stuff shes REALLY hard grader..she ALWAYS goes off topic during class..shes definitely NOT helpful her essays are hard & the way she assigns directions to readers responses makes NO SENSE AT ALL.take it with another teacher..DONT bother waisting your time & money!!
OMG WORST&HARDEST GRADER EVER worst prof. EVER throughout college. NOT helpful @ all DOESNT know how to explain, confuses you, goes off topic ALL THE TIME! NOT helpful w/essays the diections for R.Response made no sense @ALL midterm/final=REALLY HARD SHE ALWAYSS changed DueDates DOESNT give credit for trying PLZ DONT TAKE HER take it@ another school
She was great! My writing got so much better after taking her class. She's very helpful, nice, organized and so is her SI student. She gives ideas and helps everyone participate in class. Wrote about 4essays and 1RP. I actually miss her class I'm taking Eng 103 and I feel lost because I was so used to her going through step by step.
This is by far the worst professor I have ever had. She goes off topic too much and changed due dates. She is not clear with her directions and she doesnt completely read the work that is handed in. She'll read a sentence or two, butcher your work with her green pen and then skip to a completely different section and give you praise.
This class is not for people to take looking for an easy A it is a grade you will have to work hard for and earn. She does tend to speak fast and can be confusing but this is where it is up to the student to speak up. She is a great teacher who expects you to do the best. This is college not grade school, she will give the tools to succeed
This class was amazing! Class was only on Friday mornings but Professor V always made the time pass by quickly with her lectures and examples. Do your hw and attend class every day and you will be fine.If you don't do an assignment but you speak to her she will allow you to turn it in for half credit. Office hrs are great with her. Very helpful!!!
Took her for the winter intercession. Everyone in the entire class passed, that's saying something about her teaching ability. She is always available by email and really makes extra time if you need it. You can tell she really enjoys English, class sessions are never boring. It's a lot of work, but as long as you do all of it, you will be fine.

She's really an awesome professor! I took her class for the summer session and while pretty fast paced, you'll learn a lot of things. Her class is always engaging and never dull or boring. The stories you'll read are surprisingly interesting. Most of her lecture revolve around group work though so be wary if you're shy!
Mrs V is a good teacher. I took this class in the fall and the class is not that difficult. You write about 4 essays and do a lot of group work! I could've got an A but I always turned in my essays late. (She allows you to turn them in late with some points deducted). It's not a difficult class and you will learn something!
Really hard class... For Children's Literature, if your expecting books like Dr. Seus Green Eggs and Ham think again.
I have very mixed feelings. The biggest issue for me was the grading. Her grading is all over the place. Turn in a read response one week you'll get a full 10 the next week you'll get an 7. Offers extra credit & when you complete it to a T, she'll still dock off points, not quite good enough. Felt like i was swimming against the tide all semester.
She's clear about what she wants your essay to look like, but vague about the fine details. SHE WILL NOT FEED YOU AN ANSWER. The point is to dig deeper and she definitely gets points for getting you to think outside the box. If you struggle with English, supplement this class with trips to the writing cafe. Do all the classworkhomework.
I hate English courses because the the first half of the semester is always figuring out the professor's likes and dislikes and trying to write like them and not like yourself. Villeneuve is different! She absolutely hated me as a person but left politics out of grading and still helped me improve my writing skills.
I take her class this semester and I have to drop the class due to my grade. Her grading is all over the place, you could not understand what is her standard. She tries hard to give as much as she can, but most of the people in class could not catch up with her instruction. She sometimes ignored me in class when I raise my hand to ask question.
She is a tough grader, but she cares for every student to pass her classes. I use to hate English class, but because of her, I really do miss taking an English course. Her short stories and group work made class enjoyable. The article she gave to class "Brainology" really change how I view school and because of it, I am now succeeding in school.
This Professor is AMAZING!! Yes, she will make you earn your grade but you'll be just that much of a better student for it. She is always willing to help. I for one am very glad I took English 99 with her. If I could, I would take any class with her. She really care about what she teaches, and she help bring out the best in you.
It was a tough English class, I barely passed despite the hard work and reading all the assigned stories, not sure what the professor's expectations was, instead she asks you to drop the class, if you don't care about your GPA then you can take her, otherwise, take anybody else . I got a C in this class (ENG101) however I got A+ in ENG103.
Took her class, but decided to drop when I would spend hours on assignments and still get low grades. I always felt confused, she would assign work and assume you knew what to do. She doesn't really teach you much about english, but she will make you write ALOT. I would only suggest her if you can work alone without much guidance and love essays.
I struggled most of the semester because she was never clear about the assignments, she expected us to just know what she was talking about, over all I feel like the class was some what easy but mostly hard it was a mix of both I found my self staying up till 2 am finishing an assignment I started after work at 10 pm.
Professor V is great. She was always helpful and understanding. You will always have homework in this class. You truly get the grade you deserve. Don't let that intimidate you, because she is truly a great professor. I would take her again. She makes a great environment for you to talk about your opinions without being shy.
Anna Villeneuve is a very caring professor that cares too much that she makes you really work for your grade. She assigns an essay at least once a week and grades really harsh! She makes you read a stupid book called tattoos in the heart, and gets all defensive when you tell her that you have to believe in god to like the book. don't take her..
Do not even bother to ask for help, sure she's always available and responds to email fairly quickly but if you question the grading she gives you on an assignment, she will then seem to make it a point to take a crap on your entire existence in the class. Her stupid metaphors will also have you wanting to rip your ears off all semester.
I personally loved mrs v but i also love writing it is a good amount of work but she is an awesome human I learned lot in her class
I enjoyed taking Prof. V's class. She is funny, kind, caring, and really wants to see you succeed. I appreciated her availability outside of class. She is beyond fair to all her students. I enjoyed the required reading and the lectures that followed each quiz. I plan to take her for ENG101. So far the best professor I have been taught by.
She's vague on almost every assignment and essay she assigns. I asked her questions and still hardly understood what the essays were about. She goes off topic way too much and doesn't go over things thoroughly.
She's a great profesor, but she is a really tough grader, her essays are hard and you have one almost every week, her research paper is 10 pages long, good luck
She is awesome! As I came into the class I was an average English student, towards the end of the semester I have a completely different outlook on the subject. Easy to get a hold of, and gives great feedback. I was able to make it through the semester without the textbook (library checkout).
She's a very caring teacher and tries to answer your questions, but she is bad at explaining things and changes the due dates of the homework, sometimes she give us the wrong assignments. Trust me, this teacher will stress you out. I wouldn't suggest students to take her class unless you have a good memory. Good luck.
She grades very tough, however she is a great professor. She will better prepare you to take English 103, and give you a better understanding of irony, symbolism, and setting. Very sweet and cares about her students, has office hours Mon-Fri, and responds to e-mails even on weekends. Gives great feedback on essays, use the feedback.
Mrs. V is a positive professor that creates such a comforting and diverse learning space. Her class is structured however she is very vague on hw assignments, so you really need to be on top of your game to understand her teaching style. In the end, she is a tough yet fair grader meaning you earn the grade you work for.
She is peppy and positive as a person. When it comes to her as a teacher, however, she is vague with due dates, is very knit-picky in assignment grading, and does little to help you understand what exactly her class is, and with exactly what she wants. Do not take this class unless you wish to be stressed out for a semester.
Wonderful teacher! Does lots of group projects with the students. She is kind and will respond to any questions that you have in a timely manner. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. Going to take again in next semester for English 101.
Really great English professor. She is caring and attentive to all of her students and takes the time to really help you out. She gives lots of feedback on all assignments and encourages working in groups! This is definitely a class you need to put effort and time in in order to pass but shes a great teacher. I look forward to taking her again!
So sweet as a person, and an all around great professor
She is a very nice lady and a good professor! You have to put in the work in order to get a good grade ! She helps you as much as you can!
She is super nice and willing to answer any questions... after she's done making you feel dumb for asking. I'm taking the summer session and yes I expected it to challenging and lots of work. But man Anna gave zero hecks. Hours of homework was okay for her. Currently I am up super late to finish the millions of stories she assigned in one night.
Very unclear with what's due and what isn't. Harsh grader even if you try your best. Gives too much homework but I guess its expected in the summer term.
She is truly a kind person and a good professor! You have to work for your grade! If you are a slacker do not expect to pass this class! 4 papers including a research paper. Also get ready to read! She is a tough grader. Overall a good professor!
Listen I took her my first year out of high school, during my freshman year in college what a mistake. She is one of the most confusing professors she doesn't explain well what she expects of you and if you ask for help you get a weird hard to understand answer that has nothing to do with your question. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
She is probably the worst teacher at this school. Not even because of the workload, which is a LOT, but because her attitude. She is rude. I missed 2 nonconsecutive days total and she dropped me no warning. If you take this class get ready to be confused 24/7. So many essays, so much reading, so many short stories, and so much homework. not worth
Literally I NEVER knew what was going on in class. She seemed kind but turned out to be very odd and never gave spiffy details pertaining to an assignment. I would not recommend this class at all its not worth it.
she never explained what was happening. bad
I usually don't rate professors but I feel that I should advise those who wish to take Anna Villeneuve. I respect this professor, she is very kind but overall challenging. You have to work your brains out to get a good grade, her instructions aren't clear and the workload is heavy. This class is utterly stressful. I won't recommend this to anyone.
Guides you through what she is expecting. If something is unclear, just ask and she will gladly explain!
One of the most helpful teachers I've taken at citrus so far. Will answer any questions through email within 5 minutes if at a reasonable time even weekends. She can be a tough grader just make sure to put in the work other than that I have no complaints. I would take her again she is very caring and knowledgeable I learned so much.
If your planing to take her class omg dont. She is the worst professor ever. The only reason why I took her class was because I saw good reviews about her. Let me just say she is not the way you think. She is very rude and doesnt like helping nor answers your questions. When I asked her for help so many times she said it was stressful. Very bad.
She comes off as a sweet lady but she really isnt. She gives you assignments and doesnt make them clear. She expects you to read her mind and understand everything. It has to make sense to her or you wont get your points. Then when you ask her about it she becomes very rude. Worse teacher Ive ever taken. Wouldnt recommend her class to anyone.
I loved taking English 101 with Mrs. V! She is so energetic and her discussions really get you thinking for all the essays. All her assignments are preparing you for the essays throughout the semester. She's caring and willing to help when you ask. She makes you work but it's worth it!
This professor was the definition of horrible. I did not learn or enjoy one thing about her class, she gave us homework every night due at 11:59. She expects too much from the students and she doesn't even go easy on the grading. Listen, even if she is the only option dont take her class.
I would never again take a class by this professor. Its either her way or you do not get a good grade. She gives out way too much homework and does not really explain what she expects.
she was the first teacher to actually make me feel stupid. she graded work based on her opinion compared to yours rather than seeing your perspective. she didnt care about how much work she gave. i wouldnt recommend taking her class if you want to learn something.
I like Mrs. V because shes very caring and kind. My only one problem is I wish she was more specific when it came to writing essays and doing homework assignments. She assigns a lot of work and she takes grading really seriously so youll have to put a lot of effort to get a good grade.
I'd prefer if she just listed clear and SIMPLE instructions instead of constantly over explaining and talking in a circle. Whether typed or speaking, she would explain way too much about the topic, ask rhetorical questions, and branch off on ideas without getting to the main point. Many people preferred instructions based off of the rubric.
This was my first real class online because of COVID-19. I was expecting the M W meeting like they were stated when I picked the class but after the first week the meeting changed to M TR which really hurt my schedule. She doesnt give good feedback on papers which doesnt help you succeed in any way. So I was stuck guessing what I was doing wrong.
You need a lot of free time to be able to get a good grade in her class. Shes tough and most of the students were lost throughout the semester. Shes very open minded and embraces your opinion when it comes to answering some of the assignments. Ill give her that at least!
I don't commonly submit ratings for my professors, but Mrs. V is the best professor I have ever had. She is kind, caring, her lessons are so much fun, and her passion for literature seen in her teaching is truly inspirational. I cannot recommend Mrs. V enough!
Her grading was awful, it would make it hard for some people to keep a passing grade while trying their best.
The grading system was terrible, and there was tons of homework. On top of that, you have to go through unnecessary steps and adopt the professor's viewpoint to get a good grade. Over five students dropped out in the first few classes due to her views. While I agree with some of them, I don't think they should be forced on everyone.
Loved her and her aide, both were very attentive to my questions and were very patient with me. She sounds scary through email and comments but when you go to her in person she's an angel. I don't understand why people are saying you have to adapt to her views bc the only topic that was even remotely political was racism, calling yourselves out fr
Mrs. Villeneuve is a great professor with a grading system based on “complete” or “incomplete.” You need to complete all 4 essays to pass. She's patient, provides helpful feedback, and is available during class and office hours. Assignments include reading, journals, and discussions. The class isn't hard if you put in the effort and do the work.
V's class is not easy - but worthwhile. She treats her students with respect and like the capable adults they are. She's firm, but she teaches her students how to be competent writers. While there's a lot of reading and papers, anyone who is willing to put in the effort will gain the courage to become better writers and analyzers of literature.
Professor V is unfortunately a very bad educator. I had to withdraw from her class due to her lack of understanding for all students. She claims I have privilege yet she knows nothing about me. I grew up in east Los Angeles and I have had to work for everything I wear. Don't take professor V if you have self respect.
For anyone who enjoys not having freedom of speech, join this class. She is very liberal and opinionated to make sure you agree with every radical thing she says. She sets up a grade system that is confusing on purpose in order to leave it up to whether she likes you or not. All I wanted was further education and not radical indoctrination.
Very opinionated, I agreed with her views most times but also felt uncomfortableness from those who didn't. She uses contract grading and the guidelines were super unclear and I dropped due to overall confusion on the assignments.
Ms. V does not have a % grades on assignments. Her course is based on contract grading which you have to keep track of yourself. Has woke view points and gives unclear directions for assignments. Mainly ALL papers/ journals and essays are physically turned in and make sure you keep everything just in case she says its incomplete.
Very boring class with 0 room for self expression. Teacher has very "woke" viewpoints that you're forced to agree with otherwise your grade is cooked. You're forced to read a racial book about the LA Riots. 4 boring essays required. Last essay you have to choose to write about 1 of 3 stories that discuss sexual assault, "coming out", or being Trans
The people who say that she gave a lot of homework are just lazy because it wasn't. She is very understanding and gives good feedback to help you improve. I enjoyed the contract grading because it made it easy to determine what my grade in the class was. You have to put in time and effort to pass her class, but it is so easy to get an A.
I wouldn't wear my seatbelt omw to class in hopes i'd crash and not have to go. Her assignments were good. She gave good lessons but she does not how to explain stuff. She answer questions with questions. Grateful for the teacher aid who would actually have to translate everything the teacher said to me.
