Prof. Walz is great. Just took our first test so not sure about how she grades, but so far so good. Shes also not too bad to look at. I dont mind her class.
Anna is a great asset to GVSU! She makes the class fun and very interactive. She knows the subject matter very well, and LOVES to teach it. The book is only used for the tests. Go to Class!! grades are based on participation and tests are mainly from the lecture.
Very nice & funny professor! I truly had fun in class. However, DON'T MISTAKE HER AWESOMENESS FOR EASINESS! I liked her so much, but would hesitate to take her class again due to her tests being so difficult (her questions were paragraph length & lots of them). Recommend if you do very well on tests since they're a big part of your final grade :)
Excellent teacher, but very tough. Her tests are quite difficult, but there are extra credit opportunities, and many little assignments that help keep grades decent. Learned quite a bit in class, and by far the most fun and interesting class I have had at GV. She has a great class and is very cute too! Would Reccommend!
Really cool lady. She loves marketing and almost converts the rest of the class to love it too by the end of the semester. Tests are hard and count for a big part of your grade but besides that the rest of the grades are easy. Take her but prepare to study. Especially for a general business requirement I got a lot out of it.
Anna is by far the best prof. I have had so far at GV! She is very outgoing & her class is actually fun. Don't let her fool you though, her exams are TOUGH. You have to read & attend class b/c 85% of exam materials is lectures notes you take during class. She varies her teaching techniques so you are never bored (role playing, group assignments etc)
Walz is really funny and makes a downtown 8am bearable.
AWESOME professor!!! Not your normal professor that stands in front of the class and lectures. She involves the class and does many fun activities. She is very funny also, you are never bored. Would recommened this prof to anybody. Test are hard but you learn a lot and she is very helpful in and outside of class if you have any questions!
Most enjoyable class for me this semester. I looked forward to coming to class and she always made it interesting. It was definitely easy to pay attention to. Exams are definitely hard and make sure you review with the book but other than that, I would recommend choosing her for your professor.
Like everyone else said, her tests are hard because the options she gives for multiple choice sometimes seem like they could all be the answer, so study well. Other than that, she is fun, outgoing, not boring, and is a cutie ;)
So nice and always willing to help!
She is crazy funny which definitely makes the class interesting. She engages student in learning so student actually want to attend class. Test are hard but I highly recommend her- I am taking her retailing class just because she is so great at what she does.
Fun class and fun lectures but the test suck! She's super nice and acts like a kid but when it comes to the test and grading, watch out!
Great class. Do yourself a favor and take this professor. The tests are NOT difficult if you study. Just do the study guides and read the sections she assigns.
Anna is a really great marketing professor. She gives outlines for following along with in-class discussion, really great online recorded reviews for exams, and is always more than willing to help outside of class. I HIGHLY recommend her. One of the best professors I've had at GV.
This professor is one of the best I have ever had at Grand Valley. She provides outlines and makes the class fun. She has a lot of energy and always willing to beyond what she needs to in order for you to get a good grade in the class. She is by far one of my favorite professors at GVSU!
So funny I seriously cried every class! She makes class so fun and enjoyable. Tests are a breeze as long as you are there! She will do anything/say anything to help you understand. She is also great about helping you on the test if you have any questions at all during it!
Best professor at GVSU. She goes out of her way to help students, she is absolutely hilarious, and she is super nice. A lot of previous students said the tests are hard but they really aren't. Like all classes, you just have to study. She even records lectures for you and they are sooo helpful. Definitely take her!!
Anna is the best professor at Grand Valley. She has a good attitude every class and makes lectures fun. She is extremely helpful and provides many different resources to help you succeed in her class. If you have the chance, take her classes - you won't regret it!
She was the best professor I have ever had in my college career. She is hard but you will never have a better professor.
Professor Walz is an amazing professor. She is passionate about marketing and it shows. I was not a marketing major coming into the class, but she made me want to switch to marketing. Some of the testsquizzes were tricky, but the notes were helpful and study guides. Plus, she has lots of extra credit opportunities and she drops the lowest test.
Dr. Walz is hands down the best professor I've had at GVSU. Her lectures keep your attention, and she's extremely personable and approachable throughout if you have any questions or concerns. Tests are a little tough, but if you keep up in class and outside of class it's nothing to worry about. Highly recommend and would definitely take again!
Great Professor. She provides very clear outlines on what material you need to know. She provides podcasts on lectures in case you missed class. She gives very clear test reviews before each exam. She lectures well and gives good examples. I would definitely take her again. All exams are 50-60 multiple choice questions so know your vocab .
Dr Walz was by far my favorite prof at GVSU. I almost switched majors to marketing because she made the whole class get into the subject. Not only was she easy to listen to, but she had great ideas in the field too. So "jibble this down" - taker her class! Get ready to hear about the butt hair catcher and see marketing from a new perspective
Was very enthusiastic and cared about students. Extremely knowledgable, had her for a night class and she kept the class' interest for the entire duration of the class! She is VERY, VERY caring for her students. One group assignment, three exams, an optional final exam which I would recommend taking! Take her for MKT 350! Great experience
Dr. Walz is very caring about her students. She has class outlines that you can fill out every class, but they are very general. Her exams are MUCH more specific than the class outlines. I found her to be a very difficult professor.
I quite enjoyed Dr. Walz as a professor. She strives to get to know each and every student to the best of her ability. Her course is very clearly laid out, and her expectations are very clear. Weekly assignments are the norm, but her grading of these are generally relaxed.
Anna is by far the best professor at GVSU! She is hilarious and really cares about her students. TAKE HER!! The class is pretty easy, and she explains everything really well!
Anna Walz is my favorite professor I have taken at Grand Valley so far!! She truly cares about students and she shows it. Reading the book isnt necessary but it is on the exam so reviewing what she says in the review guide is key. Her exams arent hard if you do the review and she has the best lectures because she is so involved and hilarious!!!
I loved her!!! My favorite professor that I have taken at Grand Valley. She is super funny and easy-going and makes the class really enjoyable for everyone.
One of the best profs I have every taken at Grand Valley. She is so caring, interesting, energetic, and loves what she does. Great feedback, quick grader, LOVE her.
Anna was an excellent prof. Her lectures were well thoughout, and she provides note outlines which are crazy helpful. 85% of her tests are on lecture and the other 15% is over the book, so reading the book mostly depends on what grade you want. She is very helpful, and provides really clear grading criteria.
I don't even like marketing, but her class was very enjoyable to go to. Lectures were interesting and fun to be apart of. Definitely take her.
Great professor. Love going to her class everyday. You won't find a better professor out there.
Best Professor I have ever had. Take take take.
Anna is hands down one of the best professors I have had at GV. You will not find anyone who cares about her students more than Anna does. She will do everything to help you succeed. Exams are fair, a couple writing assignments, and a massive group project (but it's fun). Take her if you have the chance, you won't regret it.
Professor Walz is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. She has crazy enthusiasm, which is really what made class awesome. She knows her stuff and is great at teaching it.
Anna is AMAZING! She's relatable, funny, and so cute! 4 exams, 1 of which is dropped. About 5 quizzes, 1 also dropped. Journal questions due every week - DO IT, it'll help your overall grade. She hands out typed out lectures, where all you have to do is fill in the blanks and pay attention. She is extremely enthusiastic and so fun to be around!
Such a nice woman but such a bad professor. She is all over the place which makes the class extremely confusing and her exams are near impossible. Class is based on quizzes, exams, journals and POs. Not a lot of points, so hard to do well if you aren't a good test taker.
Anna is an amazing person who has been through a lot, i.e. why some people say she's all over the place. She cares so much about her students & does everything in her power to make sure they succeed. There are plenty of opportunities for points through POs, journals, etc. & only 2 exams, 4 quizzes, & a very fun pop-up shop group project! Take her!!
Extremely interesting person, there was never a boring day of class. Only grudge was the class was a little unorganized and she could be all over the place. She genuinely cares about her students, though, which makes the occasional headache more bearable. Exams and quizzes can be tough, but journal questions and POs are gifted points. She's dope.
Anna was absolutely amazing! She is so nice and really encourages participation. There were many times where I answered a question wrong but she never tore me down for it. Drops an exam, quiz, and participation points. Her exams can be tricky, but just pay attention in class, study your notes, and you will do fine. Recommend to anyone!
Anna is a very nice teacher but stay away from this class!!!!!! This class was the worst marketing grade I have ever gotten mainly because the tests are very misleading/hard and the group pop-up shop is graded on a very unclear scale you're not aware of until its over. A bad peer review can also drastically hurt you! STAY AWAY!
Anna is a wonderful person who is very passionate about marketing. In terms of making the class interesting, she did a great job. My only complaint is that sometimes the criteria (grading, exam material) was very unclear and scattered. I found there to be a lot of "surprises". All in all though, she is a solid choice for a prof
Best professor I've had!! Makes class very enjoyable/entertaining! Applies the concepts from the book to real life examples and does an amazing job doing so. If you don't understand something, she'll explain it more in-depth. Honestly, if she taught all the MKT classes I need to take for my major, I'd take M-F classes just to have her as my prof!!!
Very passionate, can keep students attention very well. Interesting class. Weekly assignments that take 10 minutes at most. Few quizzes. 4 exams but she takes top 3. Love her
Anna is a great person, and is great at teaching but the exams in this class will get you. Completely different than the class material, and the study guide she has for us is not updated and makes studying a little confusing sometimes. With even following the outlines and studying for days on end for her exams I got the lowest grade Ive ever had
Anna is a great professor, BUT the exams will kill your grade. She did not post a study guide for the first two exams and even though I took a ton of notes and followed everything on her outline I still did bad on the exams. There are easy points with PO, Journals. The pop-up shop also is a ton of work and I did not enjoy it at all. Though grader!
Anna truly cares about her students. She is an amazing professor with engaging & interesting lectures. She takes your top 4 out of 5 quiz scores and your top 3 out of 4 exam scores. Show up to class as she has many participation opportunities for points. Her quiz and exams are difficult but study the lecture outlines and you'll be fine.
Anna is the most caring and inspirational person Ive ever met, let alone professor. Her class is challenging in ways you dont really expect, so dont take it for an easy A. You do learn a lot, though. Multiple quizzes and participation points, along with 2 exams and an optional final. Drops lowest grades. I highly recommend getting to know her.
Anna was such an amazing professor. She truly cared about her students and wanted the best for each one. PO's and journals were very easy. Extra credit is only offered during jeopardy study sessions and special cases. With this, exams were hard even after studying and never missing a class. Again, Anna is sweet, but if you don't study, good luck.
Anna is a great professor! She is so nice and makes lectures engaging and funny. POs and journal questions may seem like a lot in the beginning, but they are really easy. Exams are a little harder but if you study and do everything assigned, you will do good.
FANTASTIC professor. She is so funny and cares a ton about her students. you can tell she loves what she does and wants her students to succeed. Her tests can be tough but if you pay attention in class you'll be fine. She supplies outlines for notes which are super helpful. She puts in more effort than any other professor I've had. Take her.
Shes a nice person, her course is extremely dry and she tries to make up for it by being over enthusiastic. The tests are not easy, and requires a lot of preparation.
I would not recommend this professor. The first exam, I kid you not, not one person got over a 50% on. Everyone failed and the majority of the class got 10-20% on it. She put the blame on the students for not being well enough prepared but in reality, just sucks at making exams. She did end up curving but the tests were extremely difficult.
Legitimately one of the nicest people I've ever met. Anybody who says she's a bad professor is just upset that you can't look up the answers to her exams on Quizlet LOL. There's absolutely nothing wrong with her as a professor or a person. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. If you do the work (which is really easy), and study, you will get an A.
In my many business classes I have taken at Grand Valley, Anna is the worst one yet. She's nice and sweet, but in the end I don't like paying 2,000 dollars for a professor who gives out the worlds worst exams. The class average on her first exam was about a 20%. She curved it, but tried blaming it on her students. Bad prof overall.
Overall a very sweet and nice individual. That does not at all apply to her ability to adjust, assist and recognize the impossible nature of her exams. She creates her own exams which can be hard to comprehend, as some things need to be reviewed prior to posting. The entire class struggled and truly I cannot emphasize this enough, DO NOT TAKE HER!
Do not take this professor. She's very nice but doesn't teach well at all. The information she presents does not represent the exams at all. Our first exam average was 25% and she barely cared. I've taken many hard classes and taking this class with her was easily the hardest so far. Find any other teacher, there are a lot.
Professor Walz is a super sweet person, but her class is a lot of work. I took the online section and you have usually 4 assignments due each week which take hours on hours to do. Her class is laid out where you have to search for the hidden assignments rather than everything being in front of you. Overall, she expects a lot from a simple class.
Anna did take the time to teach, but I would avoid her class. She has multiple assignments due every week. They are time-consuming. The exams are awful. Instead of asking students to understand general concepts, she expects students to memorize every detail of her lectures. She uses multiple platforms in addition to BB which made class confusing.
The class itself wasn't that difficult; there were a couple assignments due every week, but the lectures took about 2-3 hours to watch and take notes. The issue with this course was the exams!! The first exam was the hardest exam I've taken in college and I got a 26%. She did make some changes for the 2nd exam but only after a lotttt of complaints.
Every week we had lecture videos that she made that came with an outline to fill in blanks which was helpful. A few times we also did assignments where you have to make a video and post to the site. Connect homework every week as well. This was a good class and she was a good teacher other than the exams. It was very confusing and many did bad!
Funny and nice teacher but is SO strict on deadlines. If you turn something in a minute late you will get 0 credit. Not much sympathy. Also, exams are open only for one day for 12 hours. Not even until midnight so if you work you're practically screwed.
One of the worst professors Ive ever had at Grand Valley. She took over 2 days to respond to emails which is unacceptable in my mind for an asynchronous online class. For someone with a PHD I was very disappointed. She literally took lecture videos with her kid crying in her arms. She seems nice but doesn't care at all. Avoid her, awful prof!
Posts over 3 hours of lectures each week, does videos with kids in while teaching, very unprofessional. Taking notes is impossible with the amount of rambling she does in videos. Exams are insanely hard, class average was 55% for the final. Blackboard is so disorganized and wastes your time trying to find things. Pick any other MKT350 professor!!
Anna is the most energetic and passionate professor ever! She is engaging, funny, kind, smart, understanding, and truly wants her students to succeed. I had no trouble paying attention in class because her lectures were so fun. I 100% recommend taking this course with her. She is quick to respond to emails and is willing to meet outside of class.
Anna acts like shes cares about her students but honestly probably the worst Professor Ive had yet and doesnt really care. I wouldnt recommend her to anyone. Her exams and stupid hard because its all basically whats the most correct answer. When the class average is 60 thats an issue. Literally take anybody else.
Professor Walz was a great professor. Her Marketing 350 class was not easy. The tests require a lot of studying and understanding the content but I learned more from her than almost anyone.
Amazing professor, the lectures were too much fun. Tests are nearly impossible though.
I would not recommend this professor. lectures are fun and interesting at times but material is given unorganized. In person class but randomly online at times. Tests are hard. She says its off the study guides that are given out but I swear she pulls it out of the sky. Its best correct answer. She's a sweet person but I wouldn't take her again.
Professor Walz is very fun to have in class. Class was often pointless and just boring lectures on common sense but she was very personable and made it go by fast.
Anna is sooo sweet and hilarious. lectures are fun. tests are quite literally impossible though. most ppl in the class failed every test. multi choice answers are a-e and sometimes a-g... most choices mean the SAME thing but its whichever one is correct. tests are created from class lectures, so make sure you take AMAZING notes or else your doomed.
I feel bad rating this class so bad considering how energetic and sweet she is. But her exams were literally impossible and did not care at all. Class averages were always around a 60% and kept saying there was hope for the next exams but never changed. Retail class should not be more difficult than a finance or accounting class lol
Very energetic and super friendly. Not too much homework and lots of dropped assignments. She offers a decent amount of extra credit. Exams are super hard and you have to study well for them. She is more than willing to help if you go to office hours. Don't be deceived by her friendliness, her exams are no joke. You do get to drop am exam and quiz
Anna is very friendly until you need help. She will not go out of her way at all. Her tests are nearly impossible. There is almost no way to get above a 60% on them. Her blackboard is also very unorganized. She is all over the place with her lectures. Take any other professor for this class.
Professor Walz is the nicest but I do not recommend her class. The exams are nearly impossible. Coming from someone who gets good grades and does well in school, my highest exam grade was a 66%. The average for the class was around that every time. I did better in my non major related classes than I did in this course.
Anna was a great professor. She's very energetic and great at explaining topics in a way you will remember when exams come around. The exams are slightly difficult but as long as you study well, you'll do fine. She does need to work on communication for the online class days (I forgot to do a module bc I had an exam to study for and got a 0 for it)
By far my favorite professor I have ever had in my life. I learned so so much from her because her lectures are very engaging and fun. The exams are a little tough, but if you study for them you'll do just fine. Im not sure why a lot of people thought they were terrible. You will get a guaranteed A if you attend every class and study for the exams!
I really enjoyed Professor Walz's personality and her enthusiasm. She is super funny and gets the class engaged. The only downside to this class were the exams. They were difficult and although they were multiple choice, there were always 5 possible answers. I will say I learned the most out of any class last semester in hers.
Very nice and made lectures interesting, but I would come to class since there are in-class activities (very easy) that are worth credit. Overall I loved this class!
Anna is SO kind and genuinely seems to care for her students. The exams are difficult and you definitely need to know the content rather than definitions but if you go to class you'll be just fine. Usually 2-3 weekly assignments that are super simple (smartbook type stuff). 4 exams but one is dropped at the end. Biggest downfall was my exam grades.
Great class! Lots of extra credit opportunities, homework included: Mini Sims, smart book and connect HW, 3 quizzes but one gets dropped, 4 exams but one gets dropped. For me the exams were either a hit or miss, you really have to read the questions carefully, all multiple choice. Lectures were super engaging and gives great study guides.
Professor Walz is an awesome professor who truly cares and gets to know each of her students. I did find it weird on day one when I learned she had a no-device policy, but she provides study guide note outlines that go through each unit comprehensively. 3 tests, final is optional based on your grade after the semester ends.
I absolutely loved professor walz she is such a great person, she cares deeply for her students and loves to get to know everyone. Assignments are very easy but little points. Tests are application based and pretty difficult but it's mostly based on class lectures so if you take good notes you will do fine. I highly recommend taking her course!
Professor Walz is an awesome person and super caring. Her tests can be hard but if you actually study your notes and review she gives you every week you can do totally fine. Definitely be prepared to take notes in class because much of her tests come from her lectures. I would take her again if I could, definitely recommend!
Professor Walz is an amazing and nice professor but this class is not the easiest. She encourages paying attention in class and taking good notes because her tests / quizzes are heavily based off her lectures & study guides so be ready to lock in and pay close attention. If you are good at listening to lectures and note taking, youll do great.
Anna is one of the best profs I've had at GV. She is very caring and wants her students to succeed. She always finds ways to make her lectures entertaining. The weekly assignments are very easy. The exams can be tough, but if you study both the lecture notes and the textbook you can get an A. If I could, I would definitely take her again.
Very kind teacher, but the exams are impossible. Ever exam class average was below a 70 percent. She tells you it gets easier, but it doesn't. This class shouldn't be harder than my accounting class and it was by a long shot.
Very unprofessional which is ironic because she grades you on professionalism. Stated week one that she doesn't answer emails so if you have a question good luck getting it answered. Rambles in her videos which by the way are dated from 2019; you could watch an entire lecture and not learn anything. Exams are hard, class average for them was 60%.
She is a very sweet and kind professor that really cares about the wellbeing of students. I learned so much in this class however she has a no electronics rule. Make sure you go to class to get the lecture material. We have a lot of time-consuming assignments that are worth very little points. Exams are hard, make sure you read the book.
Literally one of the best professors ever. She gives study guides each class following along with the lecture, and these are exactly what the exams are. The connect assignments are easy and take no time, so other than exams there was not much to do each week. She is so outgoing and engaging, take her!!
GO TO LECTURES. If you attend class, you cannot fail. I didn't study for any exams other than the last one for an hour or two and got an A. Do the homework and go to class and you'll get all the information you need, her in class examples / skits are actually very helpful for remember things and there's like 10 extra credit opportunities.
Anna was one of the sweetest professors I have ever had. You can tell she cares about her students and her job, her lectures are very engaging and extremely important when it comes to understanding the topics. Exams are pretty challenging tbh but if you study and pay attention during lectures, you should do just fine.
Anna is wonderful, take her! She is so kind and truly cares about her students and wants to get to know everyone. She is great at teaching. She makes class so fun and enjoyable. You do need to take really good notes in her class, and be writing the whole time. You need to study well, a lot of people assumed it would be an easy class and didn't.
Great Prof for MKT350. Cares a lot and is super flexible with students schedules. Makes the class relates to real life and is very charismatic. Exams can be tricky. No electronics allowed in class, you will hand write notes but she provides a guideline each week. Easy class, easy work, take her if possible Never Stressed.
Anna is a great and charismatic person but the exams are really tough. I reccomend taking her though she makes the class entertaining
She cares about her students but then makes the exams almost impossible to get through. Class averages are always low and she doesn't ever curve. Won't answer emails or texts and takes a while to put things in blackboard. It was an interesting class just not managed very well and it affected everyone's grade at the end.
I loved Anna! She's an amazing and caring person, and she is very knowledgeable about the subject. The only issue is her tests are impossible, the subject is so easy but her exams are so hard and the averages are always below 70%.
Anna Walz is truly the best professor at this school. She is extremely engaging when she teachers which helped me learn the material a lot, and she truly cares to get to know her students. She obviously knows what she is talking about, and lots of people say her tests are hard, when in reality if you attend class you'll do just fine.
Professor Walz is a caring person who makes a point of knowing students by name and knowing about their lives. Lectures are always very engaging. She makes you handwrite your notes, but that is a good thing because it keeps students from using their devices for other activities during class. Make sure you show up to class so you don't fall behind!
Anna is sweet, funny, and you can tell she loves what she does. Lectures aren't as boring because she's always giving examples and telling stories, but you take A LOT of notes. Tests are difficult, but she has many extra credit opportunities. She won't have a weighted grade posted, which is annoying, so you never know your actual grade.
