Don't let Anna's free spirit scare you away! This class is super informal and very easy! Anna can go off on tangents at times but it keeps the class interesting. No tests. Two, one-page papers. Weekly reading assignments. In-class group assignments. You do have to participate in 16 hours of community service in order to pass but it's not hard.

Personally, I thought Anna was great! She's like the cool aunt you never had. She grades reasonably, but if you miss an assignment it really hurts your grade. Most assignments are partner presentations and papers. I feel like a did quite a bit of homework in this class but it was also super fun and interactive. I would recommend taking her class.

Anna West is a fantastic instructor! I enjoyed attending her class and will miss it. She is very understanding and caring of her students. You do not want to miss any lectures, as they are an important part of passing this class. Just show up and do the work and you will come out with a good grade. Do not miss deadlines! 72-hr extensions are given.

AMAZING. She is so funny and cares so much for her students. You can confide in her about anything. Her online quizzes consist of T/F, multiple choice and essay. But you can use notes, online & book. There's a couple essays that are written after a couple of chapters but it's not hard. Shes quick to write back & helps any way possible. Love her!!

Anna West was by far the best professor Ive ever taken. She really cares about her students, and wants them to pass. Her class wasnt difficult. Theres a quiz for each unit, its a take home. All of her quizzes are on canvas, not timed, and are open book this also includes the final exam. Class was fun, we had guest speakers, and lectures good!

She is the one of the greatest teacher I have had. During the Covid-19, she has been helping her students with studying, and help financially and mentally. if you study and do the homework, you can get easy A. She is an easy grader as well.

I loved her! She cares about her students during the pandemic and switching to online she gave us the rest of the semester to turn in work before the semester ended unlike my other professors, very understanding and loves her job which makes her lectures amazing. Lots of group projects too but it is interesting!

This has been one of my favorite classes that I've taken during my time at slcc. She gives incredible in depth feedback on your assignments and the course material is super interesting and engaging. There's some papers and a couple quizzes and they aren't bad at all. If you put in the effort you will get a good grade.

She is very caring and understandable. She provides a lot of information about the class and she gives you a new perspective and understanding of the world. Communication is key. If you have questions or you don't understand an assignment contact her. She's not scary at all and she has a lot of empathy.

The assignment expectations were very clear, Anna was very responsive with any questions & always provided great feedback. There is a good amount of reading in this class, but not textbook reading, more so academic articles of your choice, but I felt this helped understand the material in a more realistic way.

Very understanding and caring. I was really sick during this and she made sure I had the resources to go get tested for Covid-19 and let me turn in my assignment late because I was sick. She gave great feedback and gives great resources to help you with your assignments.

I loved Professor West! I took her class online and she is so personable and makes you feel like you really get to know her in an online setting! She provides TONS of feedback on nearly every single assignment, she is encouraging and truly wants her students to succeed. Her grading is very fair and she provides extra credit! Take her class! :)

Professor West has been nothing short of amazing throughout this entire semester (especially with COVID-19). With the online course she would send out weekly announcements on what to expect for the week and everything was clearly outlined. Don't be afraid to reach out to her as she really does care for her students and will do what she can to help.

Anna was a great professor! She was always available to help, and constantly checks in with students regarding school work, and mental health! She also gives out lots of opportunities for extra credit which is a plus!

Anna West was very caring and respectful about the topic. She shows concern for her students that may struggle with the topic of addiction. I would take another course from her in an instant. The assignments were easy if you prepared and she was a fair grader, if you don't meet the expectations, you will not do well. Pay attention and you will.

The course is divided into 6 modules with several assignments, 2 big assignments (a book report and research paper) and 2 big exams. I learned SO MUCH in this course-- it was the most fascinating class I've had. She was always on top of grading, gave great feedback, and there were a lot of opportunities for extra credit.

I love professor West. She cares so much about her students. This class is tough, but if you pay attention and do the work, it's not that bad. There is plenty of opportunities for extra credit. I'm so glad I got to have her as a teacher.

Honestly, this was an amazing course and if I could take it again I would. She was the best teacher and lots of people said this class was hard, but I thought it was easy. Overall she is amazing and you understand what she teaches.

Is a great teacher. She cares a lot about her students. The best way to describe her is like having another mother for a short time. But she grades quickly and helps out all she can.

A West is the most caring professor I've ever had. Because the topic of study is quite heavy, she brings a new understanding as well as multiple perspectives to drugs. Taking this class has changed my understanding of drug abuse, and really is a great tool to educate yourself!

Needed help with a project due on a Monday; reached out to professor West and she immediately called me back on a Sunday afternoon. This professor cares about her students and goes above and beyond to help them pass.

This teacher is awesome! I wish I had more teachers like her. She is very open and honest with her students. This class be prepared to write a lot of discussions, and short essays, but they're super easy. If you ever need help with anything Anna is very understanding and will help anywhere she can. Everything you need in this class is on canvas.

If you are needing your(IG) credit at SLCC take this class. Lectures can drag on & it is easy to zone out but do not stress that you will miss anything too important. The class focuses heavily on writing papers, at the end of the course you will have written 5 papers and loads of discussion boards. I became burnt out from writing so much.

Professor West was very clear and concise in what she expected of her students. She was easy to get ahold of outside of class. The class was interesting and I learned a lot.

Yall have to take ANNA!!! There is a lot to learn in HLTH1050 but she makes it fun and easier for us to remember things. Lots of extra credit. Very fun person and she has a great personality!! Anna was a super professor! she will work with you outside of class and also give you hints of answers on exams. we do write a lot of papers but as long as you stay on top of everything you'll be good.

Ms. West is very patinate about everything she teaches. She brings 100% to every class and provides a no judgment environment for anything about the topic. I took her for life society and drugs and if I have anything to say about this class is that it changed my perspective on drug use and drug laws. Would absolutly take another class with Ms.West.

Amazing course. Very forgiving and offers MANY extra credit opportunities. Make sure to do the extra credit, it is very easy to spend 30 minutes to an hour doing. There is a lot of writing in this class but if you prepare and make sure you are aware of the deadlines for each paper this class will be very easy. Highly recommend Professor West.

This was my first time taking a course in quite some time, and I was afraid that I would get burnt out quickly or fail to keep up. However, I learned many valuable study skills in the class, and I feel more confident in future endeavors because of Professor West's encouragement.

Such an interesting class! Though there is a decent amount of work, Anna is NOT a harsh grader and offers lots of extra credit! I have over 100% in the class without putting in tons of effort! I appreciated Professor West's online approach, she gave us opportunities to learn in a variety of formats and actually cares about you learning the material not just "the work". I enjoyed the course and feel like I am walking away with way more knowledge and understanding then I had previously and that's what I look for from the best professors.

I would like to start out by saying I never wrote a review on anyone of my prof or write a review on anything at all. This was worth the time for me to put in because, I was really interested in the topics Prof West provided. I actually went above and beyond for this class. Anna, has been an amazing teacher the classes were engaging. She also is very understanding and accommodating for different circumstances with the best interest of the student in general.

Anna West engages all students with the coursework and each other so effectively that the real work was considering the deep, thoughtful, and striking discussion later at home. Participation was the bulk of my attention in the classroom and at home, the professor showed a keen ability to make our lectures personal yet never intrusive.

I loved taking this class! I took it online and I think the amount of work was pretty fair. It wasn't to much or to little. She also gave really great feedback and graded pretty fair. I would definitely take a class from this professor again.

6 Modules total with a quiz, discussion, and article assignment for each. 4 "big" essays which are worth a large amount of points. The expectations were a bit overwhelming and points were removed for small errors. There are a handful of extra credit opportunities which is what saved my grade in the end. Just don't let yourself get behind.

Miss West is a supper caring teacher, and she genuinely cares that student passes the class and offers many extra credit opportunities. She is super funny and cracks jokes about drugs. The class content is super interesting, with interesting documentaries and articles and the modules are organized super well. Would definitely take her class again!

The class is pretty simple and straightforward. There are online discussions and in person attendance is graded. I would have had a better grade if I participated in them. If you are taking a heavy courseload, this class is a nice break from the stress.

Anna West explains complicated topics in a simple, easy way. Her calm, organized teaching style made the class comfortable, and she always gives clear assignment expectations. You can see her passion for harm reduction, and she creates a safe space for open, judgment-free conversations.

Anna gives great lectures & will tell you most if not all you need to know for quizzes and tests. Everything else will be on the videos/articles she provides. She regularly goes over assignments & essays that are upcoming helps us with any questions we have about them in class. She clearly cares a lot about what she teaches & who she's teaching to.

Great teacher and the expectations are clear. I fell behind and lost motivation towards the end of the semester or I would have had an A, you can totally do it if you don't do what I did, though. I really enjoyed the class overall.
