Nice lady. Gives lectures and you take notes. Two quizzes and two tests make up your grade. Not very hard if you take notes.
very nice, very smart, and very helpful what else could you ask for? a lot of reading though
She's a great teacher; her lectures are really clear and she helps you understand complex stuff. I really recommend taking her classes.
She's almost a perfect professor; nice, knowledgable, and understandaable. Replies to emails quickly, answers questions and encourages discussions and understanding in the lectures. She provides good study guides that mirror her tests so it's quite easy to study and pass this class.
This class is retarded easy! You never have to show up. Just do the discussion postings on WEB CT and the online homework (extremely simple, it takes 5 min. at most!) and you're good. The only problem is the class has nothing to do with what's on the exams!
she is a great teacher. However there is only the midterm and the final, so you must do well on these in order to maintain a high grade. Do all the discussions and polisims and you almost never have to go to class.Very sweet and helpful.
TOO Easy lol. I never go to class, all the homework is online so you never need to go to class. She sends you study guides for the tests, and they are the actual questions on the exams! Extremly easy!
Easy class, almost never have to go. She even emails everyone the class notes. she doesnt like me because im conservative and she is very biased but if you're not that interested, just taking it cause its gen-ed, then definitly take her.
Latino politics is a discussion-based course. The text is dull, but the class is easy. There is a group research project that makes up a large portion of your grade. One of the easier Poli Sci classes.
This was the first time she taught the course. Seemed unfocused. Discussion-based class. Exams come from text, not class. Very little culture discussed. Major topics are Cubans, Puerto Ricans and Mexicans. South and Central Americans overlooked. Text is lifeless. Research project big part of class.
This class is really boring. The powerpoint notes she does are from the book. Lots of extra credit, however if you don't know the book, you will do bad on the test. You don't have to attend simply because she uses book notes and most of the stuff is online
look, if you want an A in government, take dr.conroy. yes the lectures were a bit dry, but she makes it worth your time. very lax attendance policy, rarely had to go other then to take the midterm and final. extra credit is given throughout the class...you'll enjoy her...
Great porfessor -- had her twice, (dropped out first time) -- wrote me an e-mail stating concern for my lack of work in class -- is letting me have some extra credit! Understanding and motherly, VERY nice woman!
This class was straight from the book, movies, and Polisims (Book CD)...know those things, you'll get an A...lectures really weren't very important...don't listen to the guy who said online quizzes were cake, there not you need to know the stuff...other than that ok.
the best teacher ever. easy A. Don't even have to go to class the second half of the semester. Mid term was a cake walk. Ace the midterm you can get a 60 on the final and still pass with an A. Easy teacher. Best techer if your looking for an easy A on your prerequisites. perfect syudy guides.
Dr. Conroy is not one of the better profs in the Poli Sci Dept. Actually, in terms of knowledge and ability to garner interest she's one of the worst. Latino Politics should have been a good class, but she didn't seem to know what she wanted to do with it. Take Bradford for 2041. Avoid Latino Pol.
Very nice professor, lectures are boring but you don't have to go, weekly quiz online, midterm and final with a review, easy to get a B.
Dr. Conroy seeems like she'd be a nice person but, she is a terrible teacher. The class was all "Let's discuss our experiences as Latinos!" Dr. Conroy didn't lecture; The class was always made to sit in a circle and discuss opinions. Tests are on the book, not discussions, and there is an unclear research assignment that didn't really make sense.
Mrs. Conroy is a pretty cool teacher. She gives a ton of notes on power points each class, so write quickly, and she gives extra credit through online discussions. The online quizzes each week are sometimes difficult but she gives you plenty of time to finish them and the allows you to miss two. Good teacher! (Got an A)
I attended a real college (william and mary) prior to transferring to UCF and I have to say, Dr. Conroy is about the nicest lady you can meet, but also about the most boring/unqualified teacher I have ever had. I believe a monkey with a 7th grade education and a text book could teach comparatively well.
I have taken Professor Conroy twice now and love her! Her class is easy to succeed in, if you do the work, which is pretty straight forward. She is super nice and willing to help you with any questions you have! I wish more Professors were like her and would highly recommend her class!
Like the tstetse fly, she will put you to sleep. She keeps the classroom is as dark as a Tora Bora cave for the powerpoint. Her voice is quiet and droning. The hum of the air conditioning rocked me to sleep. The text books are horrendously dull. I sleep for at least some time in at least 2/3s of the class. I got an A.
OMG THIS PROF DOESNT ALLOW YOU TO SPEAK YOUR MIND, AND IF YOU ASK FOR HELP, "PAY MORE ATTENTION IN CLASS" ARE HER WORDS! =/
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! She asks for opinionated papers then bashes your opinion and doesn't fully understand where you are coming from. She is unwilling to help her online class and the quizzes are only easy if you read the chapter everyday of the week. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR PAPERS GRADED POORLY AND A LOT OF READING!!!!
I took her online course and thought it was pretty tough for a ged class. Her weekly tests are hard, discussions are easy, and her paper topics are vague. You have to write a 2 5-7 page papers and the prompt she gives you barely gives you enough to write 3 pages! If you read all the chapters on time you can get a decent grade.
she is such a sweetheart, i totally recommend her to anyone.
Her class is pretty slow, but not too hard. The lectures are mostly directly from the reading, with the exception of a few points thrown in of her own, which always show up on the tests. If you want a stimulating class, you might want to look elsewhere, but it's easy enough.
I took this class online. It's not hard, but the weekly postings can be annoying. It is crucial to know the textbook really well because quizzes ask for obscure tidbits. She has opportunity for lots of extra credit built in to the course. Bottom line: JUST DO THE WORK! You will have nothing to worry about if you complete every assignment.
SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH. she assigns this project called a wiki project and does not lay out the rules on paper. then thruout the semester she changes it all the time. she sucks get out of her class. HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY. the tests were not bad but the project can kill u- just because she is so unclear.
Multiple choice tests. Study guides were very helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Conroy. Class can be boring sometimes but overall its pretty good. Not really necessary to read the book because she provides everything in the power points.
she is one of the worst teachers i have ever had, period. do not take her.
Dr. Conroy was such a nice lady. Her classes were boring at times, but overall pretty interesting and enjoyable. It was just hard to wake up for a 7:30am class, but we had no class on most Fridays. Her study guides for the tests were very helpful. I would take her again in the future.
These tests are a joke. Attend is not required however if you go to class and take notes from the powerpoint, seriously, exactly from the notes. About the project, it is not required. Rather than the project, choose the option of having your final count for double and use the online study guide. Guaranteed A
Great teacher, will review entire study guide. offers extra credit. All notes on powerpoint. Reading is okay. I enjoyed the class and will finish with an A in a few weeks
Tests are easy. The class got a little dull at 7:30am and i wished she had more powerpoints to keep the material moving. She's nice but with dull material and no injected humor or interesting anecdotes, I felt like I just attended to copy her powerpoints.
I took her online course and it was easy. The discussions would get annoying throughout the semester and the weekly module quizzes were very particular....asking for small details (but you have the book right in-front of you). Her grading of the discussions is pretty chill. All in all, if you need pos2041 and want an easy A, take her online course
I took the online class. Easy to follow, weekly quizzes and discussion postings. Interesting and she is very smart. Take her online class, you'll do well. (I got A+)
It's an easy class but still very interesting. Dr. Conroy is a great teacher in that she really wants her students to understand the material and will do all she can to help. She provides study guides and is good about keeping on schedule. If you take her, you won't regret it.
Reviews are amazing!
Horrible teacher and get ready to buy two books for her class. I take her online course and currently I have 183 pages and 5 videos to read/watch FOR THE WEEK. But this is NORMAL. If you like a 3 credit class structured like a graduate level course then take her. BUT only take her if you have no other classes. WORSE EVER.
My experiences with this professor have been nothing but negative. She assigns about 9 chapters of reading per exam, with a study guide that is tedious and unhelpful. The weekly discussions do not correlate with the exam questions, and the format of the exam is unreasonable. She is not helpful as a professor and does not care if you succeed.
I agree w. the last 2 postings, this class is extremely hard. There is a lot of material covered in one week and the reviews r pretty useless which will range from 20 pages or more. When I asked about my discussion She answered with my TA will give u info....which she really didnt. Dont take her if u r taking a full load of classes. Or dont take he
I don't know what happened. The syllabus was not clear on what was needed for Discussions, b/c the TA's graded tough. There is a lot of reading, but it is doable. However, studying for each test is ridiculously hard. Even doing the reviews did not help. The tests require specific answers from at least 500 pages of reading. Yeah. Right. Okay.
I cant fit in one post how crazy this class is. Discussions are opinionated, but have to be very professionally written and graded at TA disgression. Exams=about 9 or more chapters of material with 30 questions and a 30 minute time limit. This is not an easy online class. It may hurt your GPA since the Prof and TA make it harder than it has to be.
First of all, don't get on her bad side, because the moment she starts not liking you is the moment you get an F in the class, no matter how hard you try. She marks off points for random reasons when they really should not be taken off. Her class makes sense if you teach yourself and do your own research. Don't expect help/to learn from her at all
If she doesn"t agree with you (she is a radical liberal)she changes requirements at a whim.Graded based on if she agrees with you. No tolerance for conservative opinions, very lazy explains little.TA's grade on the same ideological curve as Conroy. She is what is wrong with a many professors;activists using teaching as a platform for influence.
What more can I say besides, don't ever take her in your entire life. If she doesn't like you, you're going to fail the class. That's exactly what happened to me. She gave me 0 participation points (15% of grade) because I came to class late a few times. Marked off .5 points on ALL of my test questions w/o valid reason. Don't take her. PointBlank.
good professor .
Helps a lot.
She is a great professor. She always gave me great feedback and she is always ready to help. The class wasn't hard either, but you will have to read a lot.
She assigns SO much required readings/videos and gives you a quiz with an unfair time limit. My only saving grace was the discussion posts; here, you have a lot more liberty and impact on your grade. The downside is you must respond to four other students' posts every time. The Course Paper is 7-10 pages long. She DOES provide good feedback though.
I was looking forward to class that I didn't have to spend a bunch of money on a textbook for. However, instead of reading a few chapters from a textbook , you have to read multiple online articles and watch multiple hour long documentaries. Long story short, don't take this class unless you plan on dedicating an unreasonable amount of time to it.
She is a very kind lady. Has a lot of knowledge about what she teaches. Has extra credits. Papers are easy, and are from the lectures itself. The slides are very effective and informative.
Dr. Conroy explains and covers all the topics. It was hard for me as I am not really good at definitions, and for this course you have to know all of the definitions related to chapters. I would suggest to always attend, since she gives examples from upcoming tests during the class and never mentions them in her PPTs, so you can easily loose points
will give you a 0 on an assignment if there is anything spelled wrong
Professor Conroy is one of the best professors I have ever taken in UCF. She is very caring and her lectures are amazing, She also gives extra credit. If you cannot pass this class there is something wrong with you. Easy A, just study the study guides and you will be fine.
So your grade for this class mainly depends on the test. If u show up to class and just pay attention then its an easy A. She explains things very well and is very sweet. The tests are easy too.
She is a really nice professor. She helps the students as much as possible. However, if the student does not try to get a good grade he/she will not get it. If you show that you are a dedicated student, she helps you with extra credict.
This is for INR 4076. Easy class, every week she switches it up from a quiz, discussion, or short paper. Final was an exam and a work project which wasn't bad. Def take this class, and it was interesting. Good communication and feedback. Some of her links in her online stuff was outdated.
She has an outstanding knowledge in her field, American National Government is not an easy class for international student. However, all you need to do is adhere to the study guide. There are 4 exams overall, the final will be cumulative. She will give you extra credit if you show her your effort.
Possibly the best Professor I have had at UCF. She is extremely nice and helpful if you reach out for help. If you put in the extra effort, she will give you some extra credit here and there.
I took this professor in spring 20, Her lectures are informative and helpful but she forces us to take lecture notes in class and it should be handwritten. There will be a quiz at the end of the class. She is a tough grader, but the easy part is, you have to collect points in order to get the grade, 94 or more gives you an A which is easy.
She's the worst professor I've ever had.
One of the worst Professors I have taken. Be smart and avoid this class.
Not an easy class. You have to read, come to class prepared and PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSIONS. Professor Conroy definitely makes you work for it. However, I learned a lot in this class. She cares about your success and is willing to take the time to explain certain topics. Ignore the negative reviews below!
Tough grader, you can definitely pass but youll be stressed out the whole semester. Unusual grading system. Most of the times you cant really understand what exactly she wants. Wouldnt recommend at all.
Run!! The worse professor ever, no extra points or makes up and a tough grader, even though you complete all the requirements of the essays it is nearly impossible to get a full mark. Attendance and participation in classes are mandatory with hard quizzes in each class too! I always regret taking her class
Dr. Conroy is actually nice and caring with those who are serious about their grades and delivering their best. Getting an A wasn't easy in this class but it is definitely achievable. She gives extra credit if your work is good. We had almost weekly quizzes, the weeks were we had no quizzes we would have either a writing assignment or a group proje
I didn´t like the class but Dr. Conroy gave a lot of extra credit if you did an excellent job. You´ve a quiz per week and 1 to 2 hw. Class was mandatory (I took in Fall 2020) but you could also earn extra credit. We had a few papers (250 words) but she just care for the content. Plus if you score an A/-A she can give you a rec. letter. Take her.
Very interesting class. Discussions and quizzes due every week, 3 total exams (multiple choice+short answers), 1 final group project. Stick to the study guide and you'll get good grades on quizzes and exams. There are some extra credit opportunities (completing short surveys). Recorded lectures help a lot. She's very nice, always available to help!
The class is confusing. I've seen the professor once or twice and have not talked to her at all. Weird.
This course is heavy for international students. However, show her your effort, she will give you extra credit.
Professor Conroy made this class enjoyable with assignment variation and opportunities for extra credit. There is a good amount of reading required for each module including the textbook, articles, and videos assigned but the study guides provided make the reading easier to understand
Here is the deal, if you can't commit the time then dont take her. Her work load is heavy, very heavy, long readings and hard quizzes. But you learn so much from her class. A group project at the end of the semester is required. Sometimes we had mandatory zoom discussions for a film or a 5 page paper instead. Would take her again in a heartbeat :)
Theres a quiz and either a discussion post or essay each week. Opens Thursday due Monday. Quizzes are about 30 questions and hard. Basically failed all the tests. TA's grade essays unfair/ take off points for no reason. Alternative to final was great! Automatically get 100% for posting a certain amount of times. There is some extra credit!
Lots of weekly reading and videos to watch. The quizzes were difficult to study for and I did better to cram read the information and immediately taking the quiz than actually studying. There's a group project which is 20% of your grade. A good amount of long weekly writing assignments too. She did give us a nice replacement for the final.
Lots of work. Prof. is very kind and understanding. TA's very picky when grading written stuff. Lots of reading and quizzes. This is not an easy GEP course. 20% of grade is group project. Super cool alternative to final test though! Learned a lot but challenging. P.S. to Prof. Conroy, needs to be anon. way to report grp. members who didn't work!
Knows what she is talking about and presents information pretty well. As long as you pay attention and put in some effort, you will do good in the class.
Awful. Clearly a liberal and pushes her agendas via course material. Snarky with emails, grading practices are absurd and the quizzes are not doable. I presume everyone received poor grades on the section quizzes because she re-opened them, but its a minute per question/unable to go back (30 q's in total) and a 200 question study guide. Terrible.
Quizzes are impossible to score high due to strict time limits and inability to review/go back to questions. Quizzes weight 50%. Final project requires creating a website or podcast with remote team (insane). Podcast weighs 35%. Workload is overwhelming with 300 pages to read weekly, and articles are difficult to comprehend. Would not recommend.
This professor is actually illiterate. She makes all the questions for her quizzes and the answers never make sense. It could be a simple definition, but she puts everything in her own words so I end up picking the best of two answers. Never take her because you will never get a good grade on her quizzes or exams no matter how much you study.
Does not give any feedback whatsoever. She refuses to go over why you received the grade you did unless you see her in person. Doesn't even outline the expectations for her written assignments to what she's expecting; probably uses a random number generator. Her quizzes are nearly impossible to pass because they're worded so badly.
Tough grader on the case study papers. Weekly quizzes are pretty tough just because of all the material you have to know. You need to know textbook material, video lectures, and additional video materials. Getting through so much material each week is very time-consuming. Could be an interesting class if she wasn't trying so hard to make it busy.
The textbook is free, but it's so exhausting to read. I guess if you try hard, it's a fairly easy class to pass since there are usually only 2 assignments to do each week. I did learn a lot about American Government, but it was a pretty exhausting class because of all the reading.
Grades Kahoots as classwork (????). Tough grader. Do not take this class for your own sake.
DO NOT TAKE HER Take Bruce instead. In my opinion, GEP classes are mainly useless and if your career/ major doesn't have something to do with it, then don't take her. She makes the class super hard. There's five exams with 50 multiple choice questions and the answers are basically same, also there are 3-4 essay questions. She also grades by kahoots
Too hard for a GEP. Do not take with a hard schedule. Questions meant to trick you, very little assignments and grade is mostly tests/quizzes. She also uses lockdown browser. It is all self-study and you basically have to live and breathe the textbook to get A's on the exams and quizzes.
This class spouse to be one of the easiest class. However, Annabelle Conroy made it much more difficult. In addition, while I was taking the class, I had a calculus one, which spouse to be much harder. BUT GUESS WHAT, POS was much harder with Annabelle. In conclusion, do not take the class with her.
I took this class over the summer and It was somewhat manageable, her class consists of a lot of exams and quizzes which are okay if you read the content. There is also a case study that you have to complete and is not graded that harshly.
Have to read a L O N G chapter every week and do a quiz on lockdown browser. The quizzes are manageable but I would highly recommend taking notes during the reading and studying them shortly beforehand. Since my class was online I didn't interact much with the professor but she seemed okay.
You won't get a good grade no matter how much you study or try. Just don't take her class.
Her quiz format is interesting, "check all that apply" and it's one answer out of the four listed. Drops lowest exam, lowest paper, offers letter of rec. and offers 2 tries on the quizzes. Study quizzes for exams, read her instructions for her grading criteria, and you'll be fine. Is willing to help. I've spent about 8 hrs weekly on this class.
N/AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Class consists of 5 exams (lowest get dropped), daily in-class assignments counted up to 20% grade (so attendance matters), and a group project. Exams are feasible as long as you pay attention in class and read the textbook. Dr. Conroy is very nice, and she does care about your success in class. Overall, this class is doable as a GEP course.
Uses Lockdown Browser w/ Webcam for her exams. Most questions are reused from weekly chapter quizzes. Unable to see results after assignment submissions. Textbook is free and extra credit is available. I recommend taking this class over the summer. Based on reading reviews for other professors, I also suggest signing up for someone else.
Thankfully, I did have prior American government knowledge but if I didn't it would have been a much more difficult class. It was also hard to know your progress in the course with the lack of grading for a 6 week course. Content was good however and comments once received were helpful. Not a bad teacher to take for summer, just a lot of work.
The class is do-able but laid out so much harder than it needs to be, as someone who majorly gets As. Test formats are confusing and you don't get enough time. Every two weeks your reading long 7+ articles, taking 4+ quizzes, writing a paper & presenting, and taking an exam. She drops 2 quizzes, 2 exams, and 1 paper but it's so time consuming
Good professor, it is a lot of work but it is manegable. the exams are just like the quizzes so it helps a lot
If you're passionate about government or have no other responsibilities, take this professor because you won't mind the workload. If you have other responsibilities and just need to fill your general education requirement, take another professor. Class needs time and effort, if you can offer, you pass with A/B. Very workheavy for gen-ed.
I took the class online so I never received any lecturing from this instructor. The exams are pretty difficult, you basically have to memorize the entire chapter reading. The study guides aren't very helpful and I found the weekly discussions to be redundant and not necessarily relevant to the coursework all the time.
This course is online. There is so much to cover in so little time and the exams that are so difficult. You basically have to memorize everything you read and somehow you will still not get a good grade. The case studies and the weekly postings are extra work for such little points that you will get. It's excessive amount of work to be done.
Dr. Conroy is unfortunately one of THOSE professors. Lots of reading, yellowdigs weekly and tough exams. Take advantage of the easy quizzes and little extra credit. Study the quiz questions and you'll do okay on the exams. Requires webcam+lockdown browser and all work to be done on Word so she can track typing. Find someone else if possible.
She gave me a zero on an assignment I had fully completed, and when I emailed to try to understand why, she responded, upset that I had emailed her over the weekend, never actually addressing anything stated in the email. Her test are also extremely difficult using lock down browsers.
