Horrible teacher impossible to learn from and excepts writing to be on a graduate level. Impossible to redo papers after she grades them. Nice person and good office hours but not a good teacher overall. I had to withdraw from the class towards the end of the quarter.

Concept of the class is great, however her grading criteria is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Her way of grading my papers contradicted every single writingEnglishlit class I have ever taken. Wasn't sure how to receive a passing grade on papers and when asked for help her response was to use to tutor center.

She does not comment helpful feedback and grades the class like you are a published writer doesn't help when you ask her tells you maybe you need to repeat the class do not take her class if you work cause she gives you papers that are due the next day I would not recommend her to my worst of friends good luck if you are in her class I'm failing

She is not very helpful and does not give you good feedback whatsoever on essays. she takes weeks and weeks to grade assignments and essays. she is a VERY TOUGH grader. Don't expect to pass the class. I would not recomend taking her class.

Discriminate against Spanish-speaking students. She is humiliating. No teach and require much.

If you are planing to take her, good luck because she is not helpful and she is a TOUGH grader.

This was the hardest class i have ever taken and its all because of how horrible of a teacher she is. i didn't learn a single thing in her class and when you ask for help she just laughs at you and doesn't help you in any shape or form. if you don't teach your self the material out side of class you will fail.

Definitely would NOT recommend taking any class with her. She gives little to no feedback on essays. Her tone is very condescending and makes you feel like you have no clue about anything. Very tough grader. Lots of petty homework assignments. Highly suggest that you take your Eng101 with any other instructor but her.

Dr. K really knows her stuff, but she expects everyone to be a genius. I did well in her class, but students that I knew to be pretty smart, didn't do very well because of how picky she is. She rarely answers a question without sarcasm, so beware of asking stupid questions.

Dr.K is the worst teacher I've ever had. I did not learn anything, she expects you to know everything. If you have any questions? she ignores you even if you have your hands up. If you don't make good impression with her then good luck its going to be a hard quarter. Even with full effort and spending most of my time at tutor center is not enough.

She is extremely difficult to deal with. If you take a class with her you need to prepare yourself to turn every essay in on time no matter what circumstances you're going through. She gives zero slack and does not accept late assignments. She is not very explanation heavy so taking her class would require an intense knowledge of literature.

She is an extremely harsh grader. I passed the class with a reasonable grade, however every paper she would hand back was obliterated. Revise and fix what she marked or asked to be changed, and it came back obliterated again. I don't feel I learned anything in this class other than how to write to her liking.

Dr K. is the hardest grader I have ever had. She failed many kids and gives no way of passing the class even with good attendance and doing all of the work to the best of your ability. She wants everything her way and is just another hoop to jump through. I do not recommend. It would be wise to find a better professor or wait until next quarter.

She is a nice person but isn't through with explaining anything. she never goes into detail about any of the grammar portion of English. She hands work out expects you to know how to write a proper essay. even if you ask for feed back on your essay you probably wont pass. Best advise is take a Professor who is older and actually wants you to pass.

Doesnt explain well, and grades too hard

She takes foreverrrrrr to grade papers. When she finally does grade your paper, she will rip it apart with immature comments such as "what does that even mean?" and "I don't think this is a thing yet." Feel free to email her asking questions about an assignment. She will tell you to reference the book or syllabus and won't help you. Good luck!

I had Kodman. She was very demeaning and rude. She rarely offered time outside of class to help. If she did give you the time of day it was simply to rip a paper to shreds and acuse you of "procrastinating"... This is something she should know a lot about. SHE TAKES FOREVER TO GRADE! I would definitely recommend taking another teacher.

i dont feel like i learned anything. she expects you to write a couple paragraphs by the next day as homework and grades you on it. she makes things confusing on how to write papers and just assumes you know things. if you ask her questions she gives you a look like your stupid.

Does not instruct. She hands out assignments, with instructions scattered between several documents, then shreds the work when it's turned in and uses harsh personal comments in her feedback. She is truly the worst instructor I have had in two and a half years at CBC, I would never EVER consider taking her again. HORRID experience, the worst!!!!

Dr. K was the worse professor I have EVER had! Please save your gpa & take it w/another professor. She is the worst, gives rude feedback & doesn't help. When you do ask for help she makes you feel stupid for even asking! If she even replies to your emails, its after the assignment was due. She takes FOREVER to grade & doesn't allow time to revise!

This teacher is literally the reason Im not going back to school. Youll try your absolutely hardest in this class and I guarantee you she will still find something wrong. Gives horrible, vague feedback when asked questions about assignments, and rarely answers emails. If you ever feel like losing all hope in your education, feel free to take her.

Let me start off by saying I do not wish anyone to take this class. Not even my worst enemy. She is so rude, and she is not good at explaining or giving proper feedback. She hands out papers that are supposed to help but they are useless. Her class lacked coordination and scheme. I strongly advise everyone to save their GPA by not taking her.

This class was one of the hardest classes Ive ever taken. Her office hours are extremely limited. When you ask a question she makes you feel incompetent with the way she responds. I understand she not there to be your friend but she could at least respect you the way she respect her colleagues. I wouldnt take this class again if they paid me to.

Dr. K is funny but her class is extremely hard. Its one of the hardest classes Ive taken to date. Dont recommend taking this class. Save your GPA!! Over half of the class is failing or close to failing....

WORST PROFESSOR YOU WILL EVER TAKE. No matter how hard you try in this class, you will not get the gpa you want. Her feedback is horrible, she basically gives you bad grades on your essays if she doesnt like you or the way you write . She is rude and makes you feel stupid when you ask a question.

Worst teacher! if you plan on passing her class is not for you. I asked for feedback on my essays and when she gave it to me i put her feedback in my essays and still received D's and C's.

Didn't grade the midterm till the day of the Final, the lectures were honestly just not that great and was just generally rude and yell at the class over little things, this class just sets you up for failure.

Annalee Kodman is the worst professor I have ever had. Its as if she wanted me to fail her class. Not helpful, so much homework, long papers, with an I dont give a frick attitude. Do NOT take her class, if you get her SWITCH OUT!!! I automatically got into CBC with my SAT scores because I was above average in English and I failed her class...

would definitely not recommend. very tough grader, got of topic, seemed as if she did not want to be there, her attitude towards some students seemed unprofessional.

Pop quizzes on reading almost every day. She doesn't come to class very prepared, late almost every day but doesn't want you to be late. Treats everyone like they're stupid for simply asking questions then cant figure out why no one will participate. Didn't prepare us at all for the midterms so we all failed and she had to add like a 15 pt curve.

Took an online class with her she gives out a ton of work and takes forever to give back grades and feedback wouldn't recommend taking her.

This teacher is by far the worst I have ever had at CBC. She will correct your paper and still give you a horrible grade. She starts off by telling you you will cry and be stressed and to not expect a good grade in the class. Her directions are a million pages long and still do not make sense. Dont get your hopes up for a decent grade. Lots of hw.

I took this english class , and it was horrible. Youll need to turn in all your homework and get approved grades for your essays, BUT if you do not pass the timed essays she will not let you pass the class. She will tell you everything you said was good, but pick out a few things in your essays and not pass you. I tired so hard to pass this class.

if it wasnt bad enough that she would fail the entire assignment for one mistake, I had a turn it in . com similarity score of 2% on a paper, which was a definition i grabbed from the internet, and she failed me on not only the assignment, but for the entire class 6 pages of work for nothing.

Very strict grading! If she thinks you “plagiarized” on your essay, automatic 0. You do get chances to resubmit the paper but with a bunch of points knocked off. There will be 3 essays due along with a timed essay. If you fail any of the essays you will not pass. Lectures are very complex and hard to understand.

I would take this class for English, Her papers make no sense its difficult in how she grades and ehat type of papers she gives. Not a good class at all

The worst teacher I've had at CBC. I'm surprised she is still teaching. She has the most "awful" ratings I've ever seen on any professor on this site. She assigns soooo much homework you can't keep up. She is rude, pretentious, condescending... I will never take any of her classes again.

English 101 was really hard with this professor. She detected every single mistake and would give unnecessarily rude feedback. There was lot of assignments to be done and she wanted them done in two days! It was really hard to point I had to withdraw the class.

They should hire an instructor who is understanding and respectful towards students. Given that this is a required class for the program, it's hard to believe we pay for this individual. She gave me a zero on my paper and seems to find fault no matter the effort. Her comments are condescending,no appreciation.

This course was extremely hard, very tough grader. Even after working for hours on assignments, I never got an A.

I spent so much time actually trying on my essays but she critiques every little thing about it. She does give feedback but her feedback to me was along the lines of, "Make major changes to your essay". This is my first college English class and she makes me not even want to try to retake English. DO NOT take her if you are not strong in English.

Avoid like the plague. Noticed that she marks essays at 2am a day after the second essay is due, giving you no feedback on what to improve. Talked to my peers and they noticed the same issue, also very mean/rude which causes peers to not ask questions or properly respond. I don't know how many will fail this quarter, but I'm sure it is a lot

The class was great, I thouroughly enjoyed the material. The professor was not. She's nice but the hardest grader I've ever had. She gives little to no feedback and is very unclear about the grading criteria. If I did get feedback, it was "this makes no sense" or "what does this even mean." Her course was the only class to ruin my 4.0 GPA.

Avoid this professor its not worth the stress, overall she teaches great but expects to much out of you. She grades heavily and unfair.

I'd advise on avoiding her classes if you're looking for actual passable English classes. The class is disaster. Her grading criteria gives mixed signals on every paper. Failing any essay results in failure of the entire class, and she rarely accepts any excuses for late-work or absences, (3 absences also results in failing the class.)

I had an A the entire quarter until after the withdrawal date. She has two categories of assignments, which are worth 50% of your grade. There are 4 KEG Assignments. I am not typically a failing student, I usually get A's or B's, but she grades hard and waits until you cannot drop her class anymore to grade your assignments.

The worse professor I've had. I had a zoom meeting to get helped and all she did was belittle and offered no guidance. She was extremely rude when I asked for clarification in her feedback. I had to take her because it's a requirement but I would not take her again.

Dr. K's class was the first class i took at cbc. I'm a running start student and she was by far one of the most difficult teachers I have ever worked with. She's an incredibly tough grader and she's so slow at grading. The papers are 1000-1400 words long while other teachers are 650-800 for the three leading up to the final.

Hard Class. As a running start student I don't recommend taking her class. Her as a person isn't to bad but her teaching style is terrible, in person classes she gives little to no instructions and expects you to figure things out by yourself without proper teaching. She is a very strict grader please to not take her class to save yourself the time

Professor Kodman is the worst professor I've had; it's not even close. Despite earning a 5 on the AP Lang exam, my score expired and I had to take ENG 101. In her class, I was reported to the dean for criticizing the TV show Friends. The dean sided with me, but after receiving a 50 on an essay with no feedback, I dropped. Bizarre she's employed.

Do not take her class. as someone who was in advanced english classes In high school i was not prepared for how hard of a grader she is. Rubrics are crazy, gives NO HELP, & you will literally be clueless ALL THE TIME. After 2-3 Absences she will drop you from the class. No matter what you do she will NOT like you & is extremely rude.

Genuinely one of the worst professors I've ever had. This is a 101 English class at a Community College. I AM NOT TRYING TO GET A PHD. She is an extremely harsh and rude grader. If you don't use essentially the exact words she wants you to she will mark points off. Assigned an essay around the 3rd week of class and graded it as if it was a final.

Asked for help multiple times and was told to figure it out.was also sick for half the quarter so I missed class a lot and when I emailed her about it she told me dont email if I missed classWhen I went to take the final she called me out of the room and told me I failed the class because I missed to many days and wouldnt let me even take the test

I do not understand how she has a job here at CBC. She's rude, condescending, and gives no good feedback just simply says “ *name*, this does not make sense.” I wish i was kidding. I had to drop this class because it was making me PHYSICALLY ill thinking about going to her class. She does not care about her students. She cares about the check.

Stuck up and very strict about grading. If you mess one thing up on essay she won't bother with it. Takes long to grade and gives a lot of homework outside of class. Group talking daily. If you don't talk she gives dirty looks. Strict attendance. Lots of essays. She constantly says "If you don't wanna be here don't then I don't care."

So rude. attendance was strict so I came to class with food poisoning and couldn't talk so she stood in front of me with dirty looks. Such a harsh grader and unhelpful. Tried to tell her I watched video but she gave me a 60 saying I didn't and to bother the tech dep. Grades you don't get back until its to late to withdrawal.

Pick someone else if you can if you don't meet even a single requirement on an essay it is a 0. There are revision assignments but by the time you turn in essay2, essay 1 is not graded meaning if you are to make any mistakes in one its gonna carry over to two if that happens you are absolutely screwed, No mistakes allowed which is crazy for a 101

choose someone else, if you are here reading this because you are failing you are not alone, for 101 its the most unnecessarily hard class ive ever experienced. the other reviews here are accurate, if you dont have twice as much time for this class as you expect dont take it, simply not worth it, watched half the class disappear.

I do NOT recommend her at all. She accused me of cheating reported me to the dean and I had to advocate and have literal proof of my innocence. She claimed if I proved I was innocent she'd grade my timed essay which I needed to pass. She never did. She was rude. Never helped. She called my essays bizarre. “why would you write this”. Rude feedback.

Don't ever take her class she isn't good at giving feedback she takes forever to grade and will call you out in class if you do something wrong.

Pretentious professor that had massive red flags from the very first lecture. Addresses herself by doctor, boasts about how students tend to fail her class or withdraw at the beginning of the quarter, but seems to put blame on students rather than self reflect. Over-exaggerates her credentials when she's teaching english at a community college.

Waste of time and money as a class, she treats it like lvl 400 class with how strict she is, missing any of the criteria results in a 0. with a 0 u receive no feedback. If you do receive feed back it is only after the next assignment so its too late anyways, you will not receive grades for ur work until after its too late to pull out of the class.

She just didn't grade my work,got 0 feedback the entire course. She spends the entire course talking about how its ok to write shitty rough draft, but grades the timed essays(the shitty rough draft) with incredibly heavy scrutiny. gave me just below passing grade and then just didnt grade any of my other work, like at all. It was a waste of time.

She grades hard and treats the class like she's teaching at Harvard in a 400 English Class.

Unreliable, inconsistent and unavailable. Refuses to provide feedback, contradicts her own teaching then, grades harshly; expectations are inappropriate, falls short in ability to teach effectively. Expresses micro-aggressions in her interactions with students and focuses on penalties rather than educating. Students are set up to fail. Avoid.

“Rules for thee but not for me” don't take her class, save your stress, your GPA, your wellbeing and, your money. Shes late to her own class yet students fail her class if they are a bit late, hypocrisy at its finest. To Mrs Kodman, if you make rules, you better lead by example or else you lose all respect that's why “doctor” means nothing to me
