interesting. totally different angle.
Annalisa is a sweet lady but she does have a different way in teaching, making exams, and the overall class structure. She has many items in the grade book (theres room for mistakes). She has an Italian accent which makes it a little difficult to communicate and sometimes understand her. She is always willing to help, great personality!
Well...It was extremely hard to take notes with her lecture style. I never knew what was exactly going on. If you plan on going into the medical field- you are better off taking this course with someone who knows what they are doing. If you do take this class-make sure to completely fill out and study every study guide and keep them for the final.
Her lectures are hard to understand but she is crystal clear in what you need to know for her exams which helps because there is just so made anatomy that you have to memorize in an A&P course. She's a very nice, accommodating and also a generous grader.
I personally thought this was a great class. As w/ any A&P course it will be tough, but Annalisa was crystal clear about what you need to know for the tests, quizzes, and diagrams. She graded easily and helped with any questions. I would recommend her anytime, and I hope I take A&P2 with her
Absolutely nice and helpful, great personality.
A&P is a challenging subject, but she does everything to help her students, creates a good working atmosphere. A very pleasant personality! i would highly recomend her!
Great experience with her. Lectures are hard to follow, but the Study Guides she posts are all you really need to know for the tests and quizes. Expect a test/quiz/diagram quiz each week.
If you need a strongly structured course, she's not for you. Very helpful, and easy grader, but lectures are all over the place. Strong self-teacher? Go for it.
Annalisa is unorganized and is slow to update your grades. I emailed her constantly asking for grade updates. Her lectures are difficult to follow. she bounces around from powerpoint slide to slide and no one takes notes. her accent creates a learning barrier when introducing new vocab. i did most self learning from the book. would not recommend..
Absolutely awesome teacher! She introduces you to A&P calmly, without unnecessary stress, always gives a thoroughly understanding what exactly will be asked in the tests. She speaks with very cute accent, doesn't bother me at all. In general, she is very helpful teacher and nice person.
Very unorganized. her class was a breeze! she has a very thick accent, and sometimes cannot understand questions. seriously the sweetest person. If you do 241 with her you'll want to take 242 b/c she does not go into much detail in 241 which will hurt you. she gives study guides for exams, which are spot on and very rare in any upperlevel bio class
I love Annalisa! She is an awesome teacher, who is definitely willing to work with you and make sure you get what you need. My only complaint is that assignments/tests are extremely slow to get graded, leaving you wondering weather or not you should be going on to 242 by the time you register. Easier grader than most, offers plenty extra credit. :)
WORST TEACHER EVER. she's confusing, unorganized, never returns tests.
Her exams are based off the notes. A little unorganized but she makes up for it with a lot of extra credit. She is animated, comes up with hilarious ways to explain concepts, and is democratic (the class can vote whether to postpone an exam!). Very personable and approachable; I had a lot of fun in class! Come to class, study the notes, get an A.
She is an okay teacher. There are other teachers that could be better than her. However, she is very disorganized and does not return all the material as soon as possible. It is like you have to wait till the quarter is over to get all past homeworks and exams. When you ask questions, she is sometimes doesn't know the answer. Would not recommend.
I had her for both A&P 1 and 2 and she's really nice! I'm going to miss her. Every A&P class is difficult but hers seems to be a bit easier. Pay attention, form study groups, ask for help & don't be lazy. There's quizzes every week & an exam every two weeks. Be prepared & do the study guides. They'll help you a lot. PS. There's lots of ex. credit!
Follow the study guide and you will do AWESOME! She can be a little hard to understand at first and goes through slide shows fast, but posts them online for your convenience. Labs are a breeze. Lots of extra credit and she gives bonus points. I would totally take her again.
I recieved a 4.0 in this class but would not recommend this professor. She is very nice but her instruction is unclear to say the least. I found myself relying heavily on teaching myself form the book and khan academy for tests. We also ran out of time towards the end of the quarter and skipped or sped through essential material. Try to avoid.
Great teacher.
class is super hard already, she is not very clear on her study guides, changes them mid- week before exams, has a very thick accent and hard to understand. very nice , but her expectations are not way to high. Classic professor great at her subject , but not a great teacher. Wouldn't EVER take her again
A&P is a tough class no matter who you take it with, but this was much harder than it needed to be. Be prepared for 2-3 quizzes or exams a week, which takes 2-3 weeks to receive a score. Labs are simple, exams are not too difficult, but I would highly advise taking this wanother teacher. Nice woman, knows her stuff, but the class was uninspiring
I enjoyed this class and feel that she cares for the students more than other professors. She is a great and I would take her again.
Annalisa is good. She teaches more like a research university professor than one at a community college, which means she knows her stuff but she isn't there to hold your hand. If you take control of your own learning you will probably be fine in her class.
Taking a course w/ Annalisa was a breath of fresh air. She is exceptionally courteous, kind, & patient (I would have blown my top at some of the students in my class) but also expects students to rise to a high standard and be pro-active learners. Her short-comings (slow to grade, rushed lectures) are negligible. Fascinating subject matter, too.
I adore Annalisa as a person, but I will never take a class with her again. She is so knowledgable about her field and she expects the same from her students. Grading is extremely tough, worst class I've ever taken. She made things I'm genuinely interested about seem impossible to understand. It's very frustrating. It's the only C on my transcript.
Annalisa is a wonderful teacher! She really cares about her students and wants them to understand all the concepts. I really appreciated how she acknowledges that her students are future medical professionals and she treats them as such. As far as class format, use the study guides as much as possible. They match the test well. Highly recommend!
* Thick Italian Accent - made paying attention to her 2 hour lectures challenging * Difficult Tests and Quizzes - She asks super-specific and obscure questions, and her study guide is super vague and organized. * Power points are messy * Does not drop any quizzes or tests, but allows you to postpone one for 2 days * Almost no extra credit
A&P is a difficult subject, this professor makes it 10x harder. Study guides are vague, tests are extremely specific. Often lectures on a chapter the day before the test on it, always changing the schedule and rushing. Constant cram for the next exam/practical. Nice person, awful teaching. A practical, exam, & final in the last week! TOUGH grader!
Annalisa is caring and knowledgeable and sets you up for success (good lectures and study guides), but AP is challenging and outside studying is needed. Exams/quizzes are tough, but based on lectures/notes and study guides prepare you for them. No outside homework besides a couple of take home quizzes and a small project/essay.
She talks at a fast pace with an accent, but by the second day I was adjusted. The pace is needed to allow for all the material. She was amazing! She well rounded every concept, gave extra time for concepts she knew would be a struggle. Also understanding and concerned with every individual's thoughts. Provides study guides that prepare you.
She is not anal about her lessons like many others. She is there to help you learn and succeed. A&P courses are probably the toughest, so don't expect an easy A unless you are super smart. She is understanding and a team player. She gives extra credit more than other science teachers I have had classes with.
Very sweet and caring. She puts effort into her students as well as the course material. A&P is a tough course and you have to study the lecture material on your own to understand it and succeed on exams. Offers lots of extra credit (including 20 points for the final review session) and provides study guides (although often at the last minute).
I took both 241 & 242 with Annalisa. I feel compelled to call out some of the reviewers who have LIED in their evaluations. She DOES offer extra credit & her exam questions ARE reasonable. Moreover, extra credit & study guides are privileges, not rights. Get up off your lazy entitled butt & study her Powerpoint slides (another privilege).
She would often cut lecture short, which normally would be celebrated, however when she hasn't lectured on any of the chapters for the next test and cuts the lecture an hour early it's nothing to celebrate. She does provide extra credit, and I believe she curved the grade at the end of the quarter. Be ready to teach yourself!
I LOVE HER. I am taking her again. She does have a accent but she's so nice and cares about her students. She really wants you to understand. Her tests are kind of hard but the content of the class is hard as well. She also give a lot of Extra credit which is amazing.
I love Annalisa! She is the kindest person you will ever meet. She cares so much about her students and really just wants to help them succeed. It is apparent that she is an expert in her field and that makes lab really fun. She does have an accent, but it doesn't phase me, it adds to her charm :) She gives a lot of extra credit and exams are fair
I really enjoyed taking both BIO 241 and BIO 242 from Professor Lembo. She is a fair grader and offers opportunities for extra credit. You really shouldn't miss class if possible but if you do the slides are posted on canvas. I found that she really cared that all students understood the material. However, A&P is a hard subject, so work hard!
I took Annalisa in both Biol 242 and Biol 260. I loved her in both! The lectures are important unless you are able to teach yourself by book. She has clear powerpoints but the tests are still hard. You have to put in work to study, but she is more than understanding on test questions and moving things around in the schedule.
She is very personable and very nice which makes it hard because the class is a nightmare otherwise. Class was unorganized, labs had no direction and no learning, she very rarely returned quizzes or homework. It was not easy to understand her, and her answers to most questions were "i'm not sure." Be prepared to learn on your own.
Annalisa is the best instructor for A&P if I could take her again I defiantly would. She teaches to where it is very clear and easy to understand I absolutely Love her she is the best instructor I have ever had! if you need to take A&P take it with her! she is amazing!!!
She has heavy accent. It is very difficult to understand her! Class is unorganized and she has no patient to answer questions. Be prepared to learn on your own.
Best professor I've ever had. Most of your grade comes from assessments. If you hate homework, write ups, and group projects, pick her because there isn't any. She gives extra credit like candy on halloween, from thoughtful answers to wearing a hawaiian shirt. She has clear-cut study guides but you have to read the textbook to make good use of them
Annalisa is such a sweet and easygoing professor. Her awesome Italian accent may be difficult for some. Compared to Tessa her lectures are weak. BUT she has clear expectations, is organized overall,a generous grader, and flexible with time commitments.I can't say enough good things about Annalisa. She really, really cares, she made me want to learn
Do not take Annalisa! Unorganized, useless lectures and you will not learn anything. I learned nothing from AP1 and it's such an important class, esp if you're going into healthcare. Go take Jim or Naomi--you will learn so much more from them.
Pros: generous grader, tests only on study guide materials Cons: disorganized, can be unclear To get an A go to lectures to know which material youll be tested on (+ participation & lab points), do study guide in advance & check with prof, cross ref book, do the practice tests from book/canvas, use SSC. Prof very avail for ?s & clarification.
She's great! a little disorganized during the lecture, she hops around from slide to slide. just download the PowerPoint and following along won't be an issue. frequent quizzes keep you on your feet for knowing the information on exams and makes studying for them easier. LOTS of extra credit.
She has a strong Italian accent, and she's not the most organized teacher, but she is a really nice teacher. She constantly asks if she is making sense to people and make sure you know what she wants on tests. Also gives a lot of extra credit. If you study study guides and use her PowerPoint and the book, the class is easy. Just takes effort & time
Professor Lembo was nice and her accent took some getting used too. She was very unorganized and I did not appreciate waiting until the last day of the quarter to have the grades inputted to know where I stood in the class. Overall I did like that she handed out study guides before exams so you knew what to expect and she did over extra credit.
Toughest grader I've ever seen. Tests go in so much detail I feel wasn't covered in the study guides. Even gave us the wrong test at one point and didn't do anything about it. If you are already very smart you'll do well in this class but if you are an average student, HARD PASS! Powerpoints are so long and take hours to go through for studying.
Annalisa is really disorganized instructor, a lot of mistakes during the test and with boring lecture. Not recommend her online class. Be aware of.
You know those teachers who you check out on RMP just to read all the glowing comments, only to find a poor review & you think: Wait. Are we talking about the same person?! Thats Annalisa. She is so sweet & genuinely interested in the subject & student success. I am dumbfounded that anyone would have nasty things to say or elect not to take her.
Prof. Lembo is nice and kind. She often thinks of what to teach during class, runs off to get the tools she needs, jumps around topics and between slides. She often gets confused or can't remember things. I think it is because she does not prepare for lectures. Her expectations on tests are unreasonably high. She responds to emails sporadically.
Unorganized, useless lectures, a lot of mistakes and you will not learn much from her online courses. I self-study this quarter. I did not enjoy her class at all, very boring lectures, esp if you're going into healthcare. Not recommend her Anatomy and Physiology at all, especially online section.
I really enjoyed A&P with Professor Lembo. She has realistic expectations on what students should know and provides clear study guides with material that will be on the tests, which is SO appreciated in a subject that can be overwhelming with details. Only downside was her limited tech skills - lots of little mistakes and delays on Canvas.
Annalisa is a knowledgeable and caring professor. Attend every lecture to get the most out of class. I am usually a textbook-only person, but benefitted from her explanations in lecture every single time. I only missed two days and it showed on my tests. Its not easy! Show up, study hard, go to her office hours, and you will do great.
Awful
Study guides are made for tests, but most of the material you end up studying isn't on the test. Material you weren't required to study will pop up on tests frequently. Barley any homework so your grade is mainly based on test scores. You will almost 100% have to teach yourself the material. Overall super unorganized which lead to a lot of issues.
Never had a bad grade until this teacher. Tried to self-teach. Not available for questions. Never went over quizzes. Textbook was useless. So were the disorganized modules. Practical tests were pictures of blurry model pics. Felt hopeless in this class. Good for a barely passing grade. Bad for high achievers who need to learn the material.
disorganized and made errors on tests, like marking correct answers as incorrect and giving blurry photos to identify. things will appear on tests that were not on the study guide, and she is never available for questions. test heavy (7 tests total); her disorganization left us taking 5 tests in march alone, which led to skipping a lot of content.
Lembo is nice and kind but does not seem to care for students success! So many mistakes on test, always forgetting her lectures, completely unorganized!! How about talking less about your private life and focus on teaching the material in an organized, progressive, and non-rushed manner! Study guide is useless if half of questions not on it! Aweful
I'm taking her online so this may just be online but this class is the hardest class I have ever taken and its not because of the content. Lots of trick questions on the tests and she is very disorganized. This class is ruining my GPA
Get ready to read. She gives you the tools. She gives study guides for quizzes and practical tests. Read everything on study guide. Make summaries of the study guide and you will pass her class. Home work is not timed and has 3 attempts, try until you pass. She is available even after office hours. And shares her cell number in case of emergencies
Avoid her if you can. She is disorganized, mean, absent-minded, and unknowledgeable about the material. It's her poor planning that makes this class hard, not the course content. I'm not sure how she still works at this school. Either she needs to improve her approach or move on to a job she can enjoy, because she clearly doesn't like this one.
Annalisa is disorganized, and unknowledgeable about the material. She made a lot of mistakes on grading and giving a really boring lecture. Her poor planning make students confused and waste of time. She does not care students and did not answer students questions. Not recommended at all.
I really enjoyed class with Professor Lembo. A&P is never going to be an easy class, however she makes class enjoyable, makes sure you understand concepts, and is always available for help. Make sure you ask questions, be a participant, and work hard outside of class. She wants you to be successful and will help you with anything!
I don't understand why there are so many negative ratings on here. I thought professor Lembo was very kind, helpful, and made it very clear what her expectations for the course were. A&P is a challenging subject by itself. Utilize her study guides when preparing for tests and show up to lecture!
Summer quarter. Annalisa has incredibly difficult exams and the class is very fast paced. Lectures weren't helpful for me, and study guides were large and abstract. However, she is very understanding and offers enough extra credit to bump your grade up. I wouldn't choose her again, but I appreciate her kindness towards the success of the class.
This is the hardest class I've ever taken, not just because of the content, but because of her. Her tests are incredibly hard, the study guides might as well say "read the whole chapter and memorize everything". She's given maybe 3 assignments this whole quarter so basically, your entire grade is based on test scores. Think twice about this class.
This professor made this class the worst I have ever taken. I enjoyed the content itself, but her poor English made concept explanations and test questions impossible to understand. Attempts to clarify made things even worse. She often made errors in grading and when addressed, stated She did provide a lot of extra credit options.
She is very sweet and quite funny. She does grade tough but provides many extra credit opportunties. Material can be a bit unorganized and difficult to navigate. Despite having lectures and powerpoints, the course is self-taught in some aspects.
Love her as a person but I'd never take her class again. She is so disorganized and not great with lectures. She breezes through sides saying concepts are easy yet gives no additional explanation on concepts. Tests every 2 weeks, multiple labs in a day, low amount of things graded. Be ready to teach yourself concepts daily.
would not recommend course, was not well put together and instructor was always late.
Terriable. Honestly her English, is so so bad .. so we couldn't understand what she is saying and so we had to 'assume' . Also, unknown test: honestly the bacteria she gave us was not proper most of time which means it was contaminated, but how can she grade on that? so not understandable. Lastly, not organized, so not nice when we ask question.
Please don't teach. Not helpful at all. Waste of money. Her lecture is NOT prepared well at all. I learned NOTHING. I feel like no need to know important parts which means not helpful for your future knowledge at all. Her knowledge is not reliable and she doesn't know what is important and not.
UNBELIEVABLE THAT SHE IS A "PROFESSOR". I cannot understand how could she teach for 10 years. I hope she prepares for herself first, before expecting something from us. OMG. not organized at all. You guys will understand when you look at the lecture, and PPT that she provided. Try her and will know that why you should drop her class.
HONEST REVIEW! Annalisa is very willing to work with you and find ways to help you. Don't miss labs, read material before she goes over it! You will know what she is talking about if you do. Find a buddy to study with and ask questions. She really is willing to do what she can to help you. If you fail, you didn't really try... - Spring 2024 - VP
About as good and responsive a teacher as you could have at this level; makes difficult content accessible, cares deeply about student success, caters class structure to student needs. Difficult tests but overall fair grading practices. I learned A LOT and usually enjoyed class, too, especially the labs.
Prof Lembo is so nice! Microbiology labs are all very fun and pre-labs are short and easy. Her lectures are difficult to follow - she zips through powerpoint slides too quickly to take notes and you end up learning a lot of the material at home. Exams were easy and she's an incredibly easy grader. Lots of extra credit opportunites.
Absolutely the worst teacher ever. She was nice at first but later failed one of my test without knowledge because she suspected cheating. My grade went from an A- to an B- to an C.Absolute nightmare of a teacher whose lectures are all over the place and tests that aren't indicative of the work in the class. Save yourself and find a better teacher.
Shes really nice, but mainly graded on 5 exams with 1 opportunity for extra credit (15pts out of 1000 for semester). She drops lowest score, but if you have another bad test it is impossible to make up the points even working your butt off. Not sure why so many reviews say she offers tons of extra credit, she does not.. she is nice though.
She's nice, I enjoyed her class even though it was extremely tough. Lots of studying, a lot of self taught material, and nonstop studying for high pressure exams. But she does make expectations clear so it isn't too hard to get a decent grade as long as you put in effort - It is a hard class regardless of teacher but I liked her a lot. Shes fair.
If you try hard, you will get the good grade. At the end of the day, it is up to you on getting good grade.
Took her for majors animal and it was almost a joke how easy the class was - you literally would have to try to fail this course or not get an A. Outside of exams and quizzes, if you do the work you'll get a 100% on it. Exams are super easy as well + so much EC in course.
While Mrs. Lembo provides detailed study guides, Her course materials and teaching style challenging to follow. The study guidelines contained a large amount of information to memorize, which felt overwhelming. Despite studying extensively and putting in a lot of effort, exam questions did not align with the material covered in the study guide.
Overall I enjoyed her course, but it was unorganized. Random assignments/exams were assigned last minute and grading was really confusing. There was a lot of extra credit because her point system didn't add up/make sense, but overall if you pay attention in lecture, take notes, and do the practice, it's not too bad. She's caring, but unorganized.
class was fine until you get past the first few chapters about nerves. At first we were studying 2 or so chapters making it feel manageable despite her unorganized course. But then she ramped up to 3 chapters and the week that we were on got confusing because some of those chapters were on different posted weeks making it extremely overwhelming.
Be expected to rewatch and reread lectures. Some things aren't communicated clearly.
