Though someitmes it's boring, but she tries to keep everyone awake. She's nice, very helpful and wants her students to pass the class. No much homeworks, grades fairly, mostly team work during class. If you want to pass, taker her class, it's easy!!

She is so easy BUT she does NOT teach at all! all she does is group work and not even Interested to get your work back!!!! BUT at the end of year she will count every single one of them and if you are less then you are FAILED! I had 59.5 but passing was 60 and she didn't help me out!

came late every day late to class, did about 25% of homework 50% of class and tore up the midterms and final and i pass. she gets pissed when u come late.
If you take this teacher do not sign up for her early class she will be late. She actually told us that the class might have to start later if SHE continued to sleep through HER alarm!But the class it self is easy you wont learn anything just how to answer boring monotonous questions in group work.

i think that she only teaches those READ 100 and 200 classes and they are pass/no pass classes anyways. This fact makes her easiest teacher i have ever had. What we did for the whole quarter only is to dicuss as a small group and answer some basic questions. She takes roll by the class work. Class work is 3p/each; homework is 5p/each.
I took her for Read 200 & 100. Homework twice a week, read a short story, summary of story. One Midterm near the end of the quarter. Easy A in the class, atomically a Pass in the class.
if u opt to send her all the assignments via email then she won't include them in your grade unless you ask her what happened to your grade. she'll also "forget" to grade some papers which will initially FAIL u & then blame the fault on u b/C you didn't do the homework. but suck up to her and you'll fly through the class..maybe.
Just do the work. Her standards on the hw is too high, she grades tough. Lots of group work that seems tedious and she demands a lot of thinking, more elaboration than necessary. I thought I was too detailed.
Great teacher, super funny. Just do the work and you're set. A lot of in class work, little homework and hardly any test or midterms. Take her class. easy peasy ! lingling
She is a really great teacher. Theirs a lot of in-class work, but its always group work. Which makes the assignment super easy to complete. Make sure to turn in all homework because she puts a lot of points towards HW.
All you have to do is the group work and Homework.
Easiest english class of all time in terms of workload. 0 essays! You write a few 1 page summaries of some short stories and thats it. She is a tough grader though, too tough im my opinion. The classwork is a complete waste of time and I've learned absolutely nothing in this class. Its pass/fail and if you fail you might be retarded.
Great professor! IMO one of the best instructors I've ever had, short simple assignments and very easy to get along with. Although she might be too perky for some, atleast she'll keep you awake. She even gave our class bagels and orange juice during our final!
Had a great time with being in a group doing group work which helps a lot. She's alright.
I love Prof. A!! Group work sure made the material helpful and EXCITING! cmon seriously...a reading class that's exciting? Take her if you can! If you're number 3 on the waitlist or after, don't bother adding! because she's VERY STRICT on the 25 student policy!

this class was super easy.. make sure you do the homework assignments and you will pass. she treats you like you're in elementary school but the class is easy. i recommend if you are looking for a easy class. you use the text book and the reader that she tells you to get. she is a hard grader, very picky

She is not a good teacher at all. She constantly repeats herself and treats you like your in kindergarden. She does not except late work or extra credit. pretty much if you miss one assignment in her eyes you FAIL. She grades very hard, and expects a lot out you. If you're willing to sit through her boring hard class fine but you might regret it!!!
Pickiest grader I have ever met. She doesn't have a set plan and there will always be something you need to add to your answers. Would not take the class again if I had the option. You don't learn anything. Easy pass but boring. Attendance and homework mandatory .
This teacher was nice, but a very bad teacher. We mainly did group work, and didn't turn anything in. Throughout the quarter, she constantly had to go back to make copies because "she forgot". Also, a lot of her explanations were extremely confusing, and when you asked her questions, she would get seriously confused. I do nit recommend this teacher
You don't learn much in this class. All you do is group work in class, and she hardly teaches anything. Homework is a big percentage of your grade. Do the HW and don't miss class. Very picky with answers too like others have said. Doesn't help much until AFTER you completed the HW which makes it pointless. Take another reading teacher if you can.
The 4.3 Easiness rating threw me and two other people off. We went into class thinking it would be a decent workload class and after the first essay, found out that the highest grade she gave was a 75 and most people got Ds and Fs. Same happened for the second and third essay. How do people think this is an easy class? I do NOT recommend her class!

I don't know what everyone is talking about. This class was not easy but not hard either. She is very easy person to approach and very helpful. Home work was easy but essays do require some work. Group work in class can be fun and she makes it fun also. Don't listen to other people here. Take her class and you will get an A or B easy!
She's terrible. She's not helpful at all. I asked her if I could stay in her class because I was going to miss 3 days of the first week for my grandma's 100th bday in Canada and all she said was "No, I'm dropping you". She was very rude in telling me so. Dont take her. Her class seemed stupid anyway
You're wasting your money if you take her class. She's worthless. She'd be the best highschool teacher on earth but since you have to pay now she's not worth it. You don't learn anything. My immigrant mom is more clear than she could ever be. Never answers your questions. Makes you do a lot of group work while she sits back and does nothing.
If your going to be taking a reading class and you can't find any but hers DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Your better off taking another class instead. This class is so boring and you spend almost all class on one question. We got our hw back and I wanted to look at my friends score and she came up to me and said " Grades are private" like are you kidding?
She is bad at teaching and she is very strict on grading essays. A lot of effort is needed to pass this class. Take other professor if you can. She is too demanding.

Horrible teacher, and I learned nothing. I am so bummed that I had to pay 155$ for this class plus 60$ in supplies, not to mention I do not get financial aid. Anyways she is extremely unfair and she is also purposely mean. I don't know how she received a teachers credential and she is so picky about the work therefore it's hard to get a good score
she is kind of easy. Just do all the hw and you will be fine for the class. Well, it's a pass/ no pass class, so i would say, it's a easy pass class! But you have to have sure you read all of the material, cuz quizzes, mid-term and final will be base on those materials.
the only problem i have with this teacher is she is unprepared. She is super unorganized, very picky grader, and is horrible at giving clear directions. She will assign you classwork and will constantly change her question and directions and expects you to answer various similar questions ,if your barely wrong she will judge you,she hates mistakes
It is a very easy class if you do all the assignments and readings, and are participating/attending class. She treats you like you're in high school and she will kick you out of class if she sees that you're on your phone. Take another teacher if you can
This class was very easy. You mostly do group work and you get points for it. Attendance is "mandatory" but I skipped class a couple of times. You just have to put a bit more effort in her homework because she's a tough grader. I still passed her class. Just listen to what she says and you'll be fine.
She told me I should be graded in the lowest English class, she said I deserved it. (That's the exact word she said when I was in her office asking for help)
INCREDIBLY disorganized. Treats her students as if they're in elementary school. Must leave phone on her desk before going to the restroom. Group work almost every day. Homework can be time-consuming; 2-3x a week. Easy pass if you put in the effort in the homework & attend class (points will be deducted for every absence).
She grades extremely hard and is not understanding at all. She does not care what your reason is, she wont allow you to turn in late hw. Waits until the last day to tell students they didnt pass. Classes are beyond boring and unnecessary. Avoid it
Get ready for tons of groupwork... feels like high school all over again. Sign up with buddy if you are going to have to take this class. Classwork is repetitive and mind-numbing. She will constantly assign new questions onto the discussed classwork so it really seems endless and on the fly. Don't expect to have your opinion heard at all.
My Dad had a stroke the morning of the midterm and I stayed with him in ICU. Despite my explanation and willingness to provide proof she did not accomodate at all. Don't count on late work being excused. No sympathy. I worked really hard for this class and it sucks to possibly not pass. This is not her only issue. The other reviews say it best.
Group work is terrible, and she will continue to add questions. No make up work or excuses for late work. Does not have her students passing as a priority, and will be hesitant to give ANY feedback on your work. "figure it out for yourself" Avoid this class if you can - take it online! Took this class during summer. The book is semi-interesting tho
At first this class was great because we hardly did anything. Everyday is the same routine, get in groups and answer the questions on the board. One homework assignment a week. The only problem is that she grades the homework harder than expected and does not consider other answers to be correct. Not sure if I will pass? Easy besides grading.

The only way that you will not get an A is not doing the work, a lot of hw but they're very clearly formatted, you should follow her format to get high score. Overall she's a caring professor and really nice
This teacher told me to pack up and leave on the second day because I was reading her text to check it out instead of participating with the group AFTER we finished. She called me out for using my phone, fine w/e tolerable, but seriously? I'm reading the first page of her textbook 30 mins to the end of class and she sends me out. Honestly wtf
please don't take a class with her!! She treats you like you're in high school and she is awkward which makes me very uncomfortable. There is group work every single day to answer questions but she always ends up adding more questions by the end of class. ITS ENDLESS. She also talks about the same topic or short essay for literally 2-3 weeks.
She's not good at her job. Assigns constant work, no feedback or any helpful remarks. You do all this work, and not know the results. What is that? How are you supposed to improve? She'll just make you discuss in groups, while she scowls--is that teaching? Or judging? I think she's not into it, and thus is irresponsible at her job. I want a refund.
Argyriou is a great teacher and her class is an easy A! We did group work most the time and sometimes we would get homework but it wouldn't be super hard. We had 2 midterms and 1 final which wasn't that hard. I definitely recommend this class! I loved it.
On the first day make sure you find a group of people to sit next to that you will be able to work with for the rest of the quarter. There is tons of writing and class work. Every reading you do in the class you will need for the final so make sure you understand what you are reading. She has strange humor, but she means well.
This class is easy, but she makes it hard for no reason. Even if you do all the assignments and homework, she will still give you a bad grade because you didn't answer the question the way she wants it. It has to be her way or your wrong.
I am currently taking a course with her and i feel nothing but uncomfortable in this class. She makes me feel like i am in highschool again. I think she is racist towards those with colored skin. In this class we basically teach eachother since theres so much group work. i recommend you do not waste ur money and time with her. SHE IS WICKED

Argyriou is a great teacher! She responds to her emails quickly. She expects a lot of effort and there is a good amount of hw you're going to have to do. She has two midterms and a final but they are relatively easy if you follow her grading criteria. Overall she isn't an easy teacher but I definitely feel prepared for EWRT 1A.
She gives a fair amount of homework. It is easy to participate in class; just do your assigned work. You can't miss class because that goes on your participation which is key for passing her class. She doesn't give good feedback so it can be confusing. You read a lot of excerpts and short stories as well as out of books. She does NOT allow phones.
This teacher is absolutely pathetic. All she does is tell you what book to buy and then hands out papers with minimal explanation. She doesn't even try to teach and expects you to just write essays out of thin air. All homework is a complete waste of time and is class is pretty much elementary level work. Group work is absolute cringe and awkward.
Anne was nice and helpful to me. She's a good person, but her teaching was more so like a sub teacher in public school. My classmates weren't the greatest towards her and would act like HS students than college students. This affected the way Anne would treat the class and make it tense. Overall, Anne is good but it mostly depends on your mates.
I truly wish I listened to the ratings and didn't take this class with her. I dreaded going to her class because it made me feel miserable to another level. The worst grader ever, the number of notes she puts on your papers mindblowing but to top it off you can't even read them! The workload was a joke, I could go on more but save yourself plz!
Very helpful with essay feedback and always accessible. Always had time outside of class hours to discuss class work and homework. If you're a millennial who likes to get an A just for getting out of bed before 9am then this teacher is not for you.
By far the best professor I've had at De Anza. Her class is very challenging, but very well worth it. Mandatory meetings, several journal assignments, lots of readings, however you will definitely notice a distinguishable advancement. She is also very attentive and always provides rapid answers. Take this class if you're actually determined.

I took Prof Argyriou yrs ago before I graduated from De Anza. She was terrific and always supportive if I had any questions about the work she assigned. I still remember the Summer I spent in her class; it was fun. If you struggle, reach out to her; she is understanding. I hope all is well. Professor Argyriou, you're a beautiful person.
do not ever take this professor, If you want to fail just take her class.
She doesn't give good feedback on how you she write your essays, there is no redo when your essay is published, the grading criteria is not clear.
I took her winter/spring EWRT1 and EWRT D002. She gives handouts, and she is helpful and kind. For each class, there were 4 essays the last ones were the final. You could re use the essays, and she provides feedback before submitting the final assignment. There were also weekly discussions. If you follow her format and instructions, you'll be fine.
grading awful she would expect us to meet a strict word limit but yet write like insanely detailed paragraphs and mark us down for either writing too much and doing what she wants or meeting the word limit and not writing as much as she wants. Almost impossible to succeed and a shame because the articles were actually interesting.
exactly what i signed up for. class takes effort but effort is rewarded. goes by rubric which is very clear and you know exactly what you need to do. strict in mla but has good power points to show you exactly what she wants. as long as you stick to the rubric you will get an A. nothing unexpected and gives EC

Most boof teacher ever. insane essays, rushed the last month (wrote 3 essays) and prior we did nothing in class. shes nice, but her essays are hard and rubrics are detailed but confusing. she doesn't really teach, says class is "hybrid" but then makes *majority* assignments inperson group work, and if youre not there you dont get credit period.
She's a very nice person but not a great teacher. She doesn't really teach and you're just left learning on your own in groups. Her time management and feedback are weird, she assigns stuff way too late and you're just left with a bunch of work. Essay drafts are due a day before the essay leaving you with no feedback by the time the essay is due
if you ask her a question about the material she is lecturing on she won't know the answer or will say something incredibly vague. Not very organized either. Doesn't grade too harsh. Grading also doesn't make any sense sometimes. Gives minimal feedback on essays. I suspect how much she agrees with the essay influences the grade she gives.
She was harsh and made me feel uncomfortable. I took this professor years ago and it was my first bad experience with a professor. I was graded harshly and called out for class disruptions I never made. I felt insulted being in her class.
Avoid this professor if possible. Vague grading criteria, no essay redos, and unhelpful feedback. However, Unstuck AI can be a lifesaver for study prep - worth checking out alongside other resources like ChatGPT.
One of the worse courses I have ever taken. Professor gave same day assignments. She assigned an essay rough draft on Monday morning and expected it to be done the same night. She assigns work throughout the work week having some assignments due on each day. Takes at least two and a half weeks to grade something. I would give this professor 0/10.
The professor is kind, but her workload is overwhelming. Homework assignments are excessive, and missing an in-class discussion means an automatic zero with no chance for a makeup. She also deducts points easily and provides little feedback, making it hard to improve. I took her class a year ago and it was the most stressed i've ever been.
She is terrible. Not understanding at all nor is she willing to work with you to help you out. I asked for a one day extension on 2 5-point assignments because I had to fly out of state due to the passing of my grandfather and she straight up said no. Feedback is terrible as well and a tough grader without reason.
I regret taking this class. The professor gives no real support or feedback. She failed my essay over MLA format even though it was correct. I emailed her about a late assignment due to work, and her entire reply was just “No.” Cold, unhelpful, and discouraging
So much homework with strict deadlines.Hard to keep up with assignments, and she grades them extremely strictly. Understanding where to turn things in is difficult. Definitely pass on this class unless you absolutely have to. This professor has no remorse
Do not take this class unless you have a lot of spare time. Structured in a way that is not lenient for adults with jobs. I felt like I was constantly drowning. I have taken this class before- and other professors were much easier. Very strict grader without much sympathy for her students. Do yourself a favor and find someone else.
She gives loads of workload and assignments in a singular day that's due the next class, which is in like two days, all the while not providing any good feedback. She had failed some of my classmate's works over the most weakest criticisms as well, having zero room to improve your skills. She's also not on time to her classes either 20-30mins late.
Super unfair grader, seems to really care about the topic your writing about for example I chose to write about faith and god and she gave me a a really bad grade solely off that.
Makes so many mistakes when publishing on canvas. Almost always puts the wrong due date. Very strict with deadlines. Canvas was not letting me submit and it finally submitted 2 minutes late and I emailed her but still got docked points. Not a flexible person yet makes so many mistakes herself.
Strict deadlines, be aware of that for sure! Go to her office hours, she is always welcoming, gives you advice, ideas. Follow her essay prompt EXACTLY and you will get a high B on essay even if you suck at writing.Submit homework on time or else you lose 10% each day, stay on track and you will be fine! Also replies to email super early within 1hr
