Knows a lot of stuff. Expects you to learn. Lots of jokes. Nice to students but expects work.
Anne Babson is a professor that you can love one day and hate another. However, she is full of knowledge and overall a good professor. Gives 4 essays, a midterm and a final exam, but allows multiple drafts due and provides feedback.
Not clear on grading criteria. Did not give feedback until the end of the semester.
Worst ever professor I have ever met. Not willing to consider an unknown simple mistake. Poor grading scheme. Doesn't acknowledge the hard work of the student very poor. I suggest not to take her class ever.
Mrs. Babson made us study immigration, which at first I hated, but now I feel like I really understand a lot. Lots of papers, but I can write a lot better now. Do the work, and shell help you. Shes goofy but serious at the same time funny. She made me feel confident by making me learn. Take her class.
Class had a lot of reading but tests were not crazy hard. Babson lectured a lot but made it fun. She told jokes that made us understand the stuff we read. If you ask questions, she likes that. She seems really into making students succeed. I would take her again.
She made us read a LOT, but the tests were not that hard. At first, I freaked out at the reading, but I went to her office and talked to her. She was super nice. She cares about her students. I learned a lot. Take her!
She was hard but also nice. Funny jokes. Makes you write a lot, but you get feedback bf grade, so no. I am a better writer Bc of her class.
Mrs. Babson was my ENGL 101 and 102 professor and she was AMAZING. People think she's super hard, but that's not the right word to use. She's ready to give students a challenge, so if you're in it to get an easy A, DON'T TAKE HER. When you don't understand something, office hours are always open. She does like to critique. don't take it personal.
She comes off as hard, but she really cares about her students. Her lectures are boring she doesnt stay on topic so class will just be a big discussion. She tries to be funny, just laugh lol
she is a very funny professor but tough at grading papers. make sure to go to class!
Anne Babson is THE BEST LITERALLY!!!!! She cares about her students and is willing to help in any way that she can. Attend as many classes as you can because she gives points just for attending classes. Test were pretty easy and she edit each rough draft paper and gave us feedback
She's really a good teacher. She doesn't update most of the grades until the end of the semester, which sucks because you don't know where you stand. Thats the only thing I don't like about her class. FYI she is an author as well, and she is a pretty fair grader, and lots of writing.
This class is not overly difficult but it is a lot of work. Journal entries due every class period along with quizzes ever class. She does rarely puts in grades and in my case, I did not know what I needed going into the final because we had so many grades missing.
I think she is a really great English professor. This will be my third time taking her class. Ive never been happier with a professor. She will really take the time to make sure you understand and want you to feel included.
She is good at teaching and gives great feedback, but she is pretty disorganized with entering in grades and is a very strict grader.
She gives three essays and all were very hard!!! And you have 2 weeks to do them. You have to do a thesis and then an annotated bibliography and if you dont do those, she said she wont think about grading your paper. She grades very tough and sarastic. Doesnt always answer emails either. Also made us memorize a poem for 10% of out grade...
Last year, I got through this big test they give you here because I was in her class. She made us rewrite stuff (or we can on 2 essays) to get a better grade. She tells a lot of jokes. Some of them are funny. She told me what I needed 2 do 2 pass & I passed. I don't love English, but she made it less bad.
She's very disorganized and goes on and on about stories that don't pertain to the class. Takes a while to post grades but shes does leave comments on your papers so you can get extra points on papers! Also has extra credit opportunities. Speaks a lot about politics which gets annoying but other than that shes not horrible, wouldn't take her again.
I really liked this professor. The class had a LOT of reading, but she made it interesting. She is kooky in a good way. She also wants to help students succeed -- but don't just expect to get a good grade if you don't work. I would totally take her again.
I took online English 231 from her last summer, and it was not a major hassle, but you have to read. She has lots and lots of videos so you understand the readings better, and she answered my email questions quick, so I got through it. I'm a math major, so English is not really my thing, but this made me like it better.
Although I didnt like her as a person, I enjoyed her as a teacher. Prof Babson has really made me into a better writer even though she gives out a lot of writing assignments. I made As on everything in class, so shes an easy grader. She made everyone recite a different/long poem for memorization which was something I was not prepared for also.
At the end of the day, she got her point across. But the road we took to get there was so confusing. Very out there at times, be warned. Lots of quizzes. You HAVE to read the assignments before class or youll fail them. Lots of reading. Her videos help but have a hard time accessing them at times. Takes forever to grade.
Terrible!!!!!!!!!
There is a paper due every week on a 200-700 page book due every week-two weeks in this class. There are also about 3 quizzes per each major paper that pertain to the reading so you MUST read. All of your tests are full essays you must write within the class period. She takes forever to grade and is all over the place talking during class.
I took her online 231 class, and it was actually interesting. She gave us a lot of video lectures, and we had to write responses to each other on Moodle, but the tests weren't super hard. She has a weird but good sense of humor. She was pretty good about answering emails fast. I would take her again for sure.
I took her for English 102. I hate essays, but we have to pass a big writing test to graduate. She gave us steps. It was annoying, but I passed the test because I did the stuff she said. I do better at math, but I got through it. She tries hard to help students.
I took her for English 122H. This class felt repetitive. It was a lot of reading then writing papers then more reading. She puts in grade late which is a frustrating. She gives great feedback on the essays which is extremely helpful.
Prof. Babson is great. We read The Prince, Inferno, Paradise Lost, and Candide. They were challenging to read, but she helps clarify the ideas. She has made me a more confident writer. I'm not an english major, but she does make class enjoyable. She does take roll daily and gives lots of participation points. She is wonderful.
Lots of back to back papers with tough criteria, but she gives you feed back. Had lots of reading quizzes and essay exams. I didnt read the readings and I still got an A. When the essays say 4 FULL pages, its fr and she will give you a zero if you dont do it with no chance or regrading
She is horrible at explaining the material and talks about herself a lot. Make sure you meet every requirement for her grades. Because if you miss one little thing she will drop you grade down to an F.
Very active in class.
Anne Babson is probably the worst English teacher I have ever had. She never talks about anything useful in class, and she always finds a way to talk about herself. She has never given us feedback after saying she would. The only time she did was a day before we had to turn it back in. I would not recommend her at all to anyone ever.
She talks about herself and unrelated topics during class time rather than talking about anything pertaining to english. She takes a long time to give feedback for assignments, even when it's important to the paper's outcome. Not a helpful teacher at all and does not seem like she truly pays attention to your concerns. I 1000% do not recommend.
I am not a great writer, but I learned how to be a better one in Babson's class. She made me do a lot of papers, but now I am doing better in writing in all my classes. I think people should take her class.
I really liked her. She was goofy in a good way. Take notes if you take her class. It helps when you do the work after class. She had us do steps to write each big assignment, so it kind of broke up the work so it wasn't impossible. She's kind of wierd, but she cares about students.
Mrs. Babson is all about having a conversation and is a sweet woman, but she tends to get off topic and speaks like were from the 19th century lmao. She doesn't post grades until the end of the semester which sucks. She doesn't respond to emails. I didn't turn in an essay bc i had a funeral to go to and she gave me an F. "this is all I can do."
She is a nice teacher but does not grade assignments on time. She wont put in your grades until the end of the semester once youve turned your final in.
I thought Babson was really good -- some students who expect to pass doing nothing didn't like her. This was a tough semester, and her videos online were easier to understand than her talking in a mask, but she was trying to help everybody do well. Sometimes she was hard to reach, but when I asked for help, I got it. I say take her class.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I don't like writing. This teacher made it less awful by A LOT. She tells jokes. She gives you a system. If you do what she asks, you'll do okay. I got a B. In high school, I was more like a C in English. It was real work, but Babson made it doable work.
Worst english experience I have ever had, but I hate english. The class really just turns into a crash course on her own literary success. me me me thats all I heard this past semester. Shes old and hates to cooperate with the online transition. Take anyone else, please.
Do not take this professor. She is quite rude and doesn't teach at all. Doesn't respond to emails. Incredibly hard grading.
She was very hard at grading. I would never take her again. Her excuses foe bad grades don't make since.
She talks about herself most of the time in class and comes off at times as condescending to the class and tries to play it off by joking about it. Was confused for a while with the course and how she delivered instructions until I got the hang of it after midterms. When scheduling for an English class, please be careful with her.
Anne is okay. Definitely not the best teacher I have had, but not the worst. Kind of a hit or miss.
She is okay. Gives clear instructions as to how to write essays, but the class has a relatively repetitive nature. She does talk about herself a decent amount, but she is nice overall.
I loved Professor Babson! She gives clear instructions on what she expects and her grading criteria is clear. She teaches a writing process that makes writing essays very easy. She is a really tough grader, but you truly become a better writer in her class.
She does not respond promptly. She is not clear with when things are due or when or how they should be done. Overall, terrible class.
She dont really teach much, we just wrote papers this semester but we did miss a whole month because of the hurricane. She talks a lot, especially about her self, but shes pretty cool. Grades pretty fair
Overall a great teacher. She provides feedback on what you get wrong on essays. Pay close attention to the paper requirements though. She failed a paper of mine because I missed one requirement. Is not flexible on deadlines unless you have a really good reason. She is strict, but genuinely wants her students to do well.
Personally-- great person, but class wise-- no need for a class.
very opinionated, don't show for class, calls you out. write to her views, easy A. oppose? harsh grader. the book assigned was an easy read but encourages you to think past your own opinions, good quality, sucks at delivery. avoid at all costs. revels in embarrassment.
Mrs. Babson was a very nice lady but she made attendance a grade which made no sense because all we did in class most of the time was listen to her tell stories and it was very boring.
Anne Babson is an average English professor. Just beware, no feedback is given from essays. She also takes forever to grade anything. So, you have no idea where you stand in the class. Attendance is mandatory, but she doesn't really teach. She just rambles the whole class and it goes by very slow. Good luck if you take Babson.
I hate writing, but I didn't hate this class. She taught me a system to organize stuff I write for school, so it helped me. I had to work, and she told dad jokes, but I learned stuff I need to graduate.
First day, said "nobody here is getting an A". Confusing instructions. Disorganized Moodle. No feedback. Lacks conciseness. Very opinionated. Agree with her opinions for better grade. Nice person, but challenging teacher to understand.
Mrs. Anne is very kind, but the profanity used in this class is absolutely ridiculous. She is very expressive of her opinions. If you're taking this class just because it's a requirement- AVOID Knight School. There are often readings that aren't necessary, and her language is pure "bad words". Tired of hearing her political beliefs!
Mrs. Babson does not grade her test on time leaving you wondering where you stand the whole semester. Read the syllabus where she talks about how she wants her essays written because she grades very harshly off the syllabus. She does not explain anything in class and when you email her she gets agitated.
WARNING! Omg. I am not even joking, this was the worst professor I have had this semester. I loved the content of the class but the delivery was horrible. She rants on about her personal life, but makes attendance required. It is Finals Week and she has put in no grades at all. No idea where I stand in the class. I had 3 essays due in 1 week. HELL!
She doesn't put in grades on time Her grading is horrible, she rushes them at the last minute and basically fails all of your papers . You won't know if you passes or failed until you've started your winter or summer break .
One of the most unorganized professors or teachers I've had in my lifetime. Attendance is mandatory but she just talks about her own life and lectures end up dragging on too long. Her communication outside of class is poor. She also talks to the class as though everyone is a fellow Christian. Content of the class is good, just not this professor
absolutely terrible
She is the most unorganized professor I've ever had. She spends her lecture time talking about her personal & political opinions. She doesn't give clear instructions. If you ask her a question, she'll give you five different & unclear answers. She'll tell you one thing but tell another student the complete opposite. She also doesn't put in grades!
Loves to give last minute notifications and doesnt give clear communication on deadlines.
She is a nice lady, but I really did not enjoy this class. She is very unorganized and takes FOREVER to grade assignments. Attendance is mandatory even though attending class is not very beneficial. I do enjoy how she relates old literature to modern life, but she always goes on a rant and gets off topic. I would NOT take this class again.
There is nothing wrong with her, she says in the beginning of the course that if you follow the steps for the papers then you will pass. Just show up to class and do the work as she says to do and you will pass. She takes forever to grade tho.
She is very nice and knows a lot about British Literature, but I feel as though I didn't learn anything the entire class. She talks a lot about religion in the class even when it does not seem applicable. WARNING! She waits last minute to grade everything, so don't expect to know your grade until they are due.
It's finals week and I have more than 5 assignments not graded. No idea where I stand in the class before going into my final. I asked her about grading assignments and she gave me an attitude. Attendance is graded even though the lectures were completely useless. However she is nice, quirky, and passionate about the topic. Good person bad teacher.
She is extremely unorganized. She often forgets to open assignments, and she rambles the entire class. Professor Babson is unprofessional, curses often, and expresses her political and religious beliefs too much. She has not graded our last 5 assignments, and it is finals week. She has not put in a grade in over a month and a half.
Mrs. Babson is very funny and just an overall interesting person. However, she takes forever to grade assignments. She put five of our grades in the night before they were due! It seemed like she didn't put much thought into grades and just put whatever grade she felt like. Also, attendance is mandatory even though she just rambles on in class.
Professor Babson wasn't as bad as the ratings made her seem. She is a tough grader and definitely pushes her politics, but she is sweet and wants the best for her students. Be ready to write a lot of papers and meet over Google Meets with her!
Anne Babson is a hard grader. First assignment and I was given a 65. I had multiple people read my essay and I had no comments. She believes what she believes and if you do not agree you will make a bad grade like me! She talks about her personal life and does not teach. This is only the second week. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
She makes the class a very political environment. She does not teach, she rambles about random things. She makes you meet with her before each essay and if you don't you fail the paper. You have to go to class or your grade with drop. This professor is not the worst, but if you have a choice, pick another professor.
She hardly talked about relevant information. Had lots of "technical issues" putting in grades. I actually had a technical issue where I submitted an essay but she didn't receive it, but being that she didn't put any grades in until the night they were due, when contacting her there was nothing she could do about my essay & gave me a 0.
do not take her. its almost finals week and she has not put in grades from the first week of september. she makes attendance mandatory but yet rambles on about things that are not important. she NEVER answers back emails and is terrible with using canvas.
She takes forever to grade anything. It's finals week and barely any grades are in. Every class she talks about her personal life and beliefs, NOTHING about the material. She will say what she believes the correct answer is for the essay prompts, so as long as your essay agrees with her then you will get a decent grade.
She had quite a few essays. She moved very quickly through them.
She does not put grades in on time and you can fail an assignment just for missing a day of class. There are a list of things that I can say, but I do not have the time because I'm writing my 7th essay.
I took her Intro to African-American Literature course. In my opinion, she isn't even qualified to teach this course because she is a white woman, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt in the beginning. She started saying the "N word" (using the hard R). This made me extremely uncomfortable. I don't recommend her at all.
Very politically based. No or very little instruction. Not tech savvy at all. Takes forever to grade. Harsh in your own ideals and semi disrespectful or comes off that way. Would not recommend.
The work she gave wasn't hard but she's not the best teacher and doesn't specify the prompts well. She rambles in class and never gets to the point. Also very forgetful when it comes to giving back our assignments and putting up assignments in canvas. Very easy to space out in this class. And passive aggressive when emailing her for clarification
I did not hate Ms Babson as a person, I found her to be really caring and nice. But when it came to class it was a different story. .She is very rude over email and not very helpful. She rambles a lot in class and will fail you for missing one word on an essay. There are also many essays and many exams. Just be prepared if taking her.
Avoid her like your life depends on it, and if you have to take her, I pray for you. She teaches nothing all class and rambles on about her life and credentials, responds to 40% of your emails, will accuse you of using AI even if you didn't, and constantly changes and lies about due dates. Take this class if you hate yourself.
She did not respond to any emails about inputting assignments that I submitted (on time) for my grade. I could have gotten a low B instead of a C if she would have input the assignments she gave us in Canvas. There is no point in assigning assignments that you will not grade, complete waste of time and energy.
