If you have a problem in her department area, don't bother asking her for help..
Not the person to go to if you have a problem with anything

it was a difficult class but her stories were amusing
Her Tests are in Latin
Forces students to buy NEW textbooks that she authors every sem. to pass
She gives Hard tests but gives alot of extra credit!
sooo nice and willing to help whenever you need it, just make sure you make an effort before you ask for help

Good teacher, I enjoyed her biology class - it was pretty easy!

Dr. Bettendorf's class is difficult. I study ten hours a week to maintain an A. Emails to her get responded with a brief haste comment about contacting her TA. Her Ta is not in class attendance, and is difficult to get ahold of. Nice woman, poor educator.
Okay teacker, but personality is annoying.

Nice, and a pretty good teacher
Worst Biology class ever...
Amazing teacher. Will make sure everyone understands before moving on, no matter what the class size. Challenging class, but you earn the grade you get. One of the few science classes I actually enjoyed, and its due to her style.
Fun teacher, lectures can get kind of boring
only class i ever failed
Probably the easiest science class I have ever taken. Attend her lectures and there is no reason to get less then an A.
Really good teacher, she explains things really well and i like the stories about her kids.
Great Instructor, really cares about the students!
Anne rocks. She is fun, hard-working, and determined to make those students who WANT to succeed successful. If you failed a class with her, then I guarentee that you didn't even attempt to do anything. Anne is one of the best at ISU. Keep it up, girl!
She's a great professor!
I did not enjoy her at all.
I really liked Anne! She kept her classes interesting with interesting videos and pictures. Bio wasn't very hard with her as the prof. If you have bio with her, consider yourself lucky!
This class was extremely easy!
SUCKS at organizing Bio 101. The class was the most horrible I have EVER endured. Nearly impossible.
She is a great teacher! You get to drop your lowest exam score, and there is a lot of extra credit!! Prof. Bettendorf is a great prof. and really passionate about what she teaches
Anne is the greatest teacher. She makes the class fun and informative. I really enjoyed taking her class! She is really helpful to students also.
Gives very hard tests, but other than that she is outstanding
This class was really easy and she made it fairly fun. It was easy to understand and we covered a lot of interesting material.

POWER TRIP! Not helpful at all and very intimidating.
interesting class. drops lowest quiz and test scores. the material is difficult to memorize becuase there is a lot of memorization. the topics are interesting though which makes it it easier. i never contacted her once because she was intimidating but overall good class.
Knows the material well, but is disorganized and not a great teacher of it. She seems to be on a power trip. Interesting class, and she drops the lowest test.
She is not on a powertrip and is very organized. She takes attendance which helps with class points and is very clear of the what is expected of the class. She will meet with you after class to make sure you understand the course material.
I enjoy the class. Very interesting class. She is very thorough and very "clear" in her expectations.
Great Class! She makes the class interesting. You can drop your lowest exam, extra assignments help with points.

Well, biology sucks!!!! This class was pretty hard. And you have to go to lab every week and those can be pretty long and boring, but it is easy to get a good lab grade which will help bring up the rest of your grades (test grades)
Good professor, a lot of information covered in this class. The class itself was interesting and it was not a hassle to go to class, even if it was a big lecture hall. Projects are small and she grades easy. Take it pass/fail if you can.
Great class, adds humor and enthusiasm that helps with lectures. Takes time to meet with you after class. Makes biology interesting even if you do not like biology!
Knows what she is talking about, but seems very opinionated and biased in her lectures. Seems to want to help studnets, but at same times also appears to be aloof and unclear in her instrcutions. At times she 'teaches' by showing multiple videos. The class is easy, just take time to study and go back over her lectures with help from the book.
If you take the class pass/fail you can pass without going to class. She posts lecture notes online. Gives a decent amount of extra credit. She gives a lot of hints during class for exams.
one of the dumbest teahcers i have ever had. she had no idea what she was talking about and even gave the class wrong information. she was boring and showed too many stupid videos. but she was nice and the class was really easy.
She's really nice and definitely knowledgeable. class isnt necessarily easy but not too hard either. I would reccomend.
Human Bio is a very hard class. There is so much material, but if you study the notes that's all that is on the test. Also she gives easy attendance quizzes and a lot of extra credit. And there are 5 tests. There is also a paper and project. The class is hard, but if you study the notes for the test and go to class you'll do just fine.
Tests can be hard. Go to class because attendance is random. Follow the study guides for the test EXACTLY and you will do will.
Lectures were jam-packed with somewhat difficult material. However, she points out the relevant material on the slides, saving you from studying irrelevant info. Lots of attendance quizzes but lots of extra credit too. Give this class adequate effort by going to every class and studying, and an A is reasonably attainable.
She is a really good prof. she is very knowledgable. Her lechtures are interesting but it's a lot of notes, but she gives you the power points after the class, but you still have to go because she gives quizes. The tests are really hard, you have to make your own study guide because she doesn't give you one.
Definitely sit down and study/prepare for tests. Flashcards worked great for me. Going to class helps bc she'll tell you test questions, but slides are usually always online. Second, I really didn't enjoy the teacher. TA did all the work, and made the Honors students create study guides (night before the test). Very dramatic and demeaning.
Her lectures can be very interesting, she shows some cool movie clips from time to time. She is nice and quite the likable teacher. Tests are rather difficult however, with 13 page study guides. I recommend her for human bio though!
Very unhelpful, basically terrible at communicating.... shouldnt be allowed to leave her house. How she is teaching is beyond me. Terrible.
What a horrible teacher! She makes absolutely no sense and assumes every student is some stoner ****! Avoid this class like it's the plague! She can't teach for nothing. She can't even work her mic!
this class is kinda hard. there is a lot of material on each of the five exams. its usually three lectures and then an exam. there is some out of class work but she gives you a few days off to do it. i went to every class cuz if not you would miss so much
A lot of comments have already covered Prof. Bettendorf... Aside from whatever else was said, you will never use your textbook. EVER. I haven't even opened the thing. If you can photocopy a lab manual, save yourself the 50$ and do it. Bio 101 was a little boring, but if you have to take gen ed science, it's a better bet than chem.
Awesome class! I enjoyed and really loved the entire class. Very interesting material. Awesome professor!
Shes nice and has a good sense of humor. The class was not that difficult. Online quizzes were easy and had unlimited time. Don't bother buying the book, you don't need it. Tests arn't too difficult and she always posted a study guide which got me an A on every test. She offers alot of extra credit too. I would recommend her!
She's pretty lame. The class is really useless - you don't actually learn biological concepts, so frankly it isn't at all helpful. Oh, and the "text"? It's written by a man who cannot speak English. Whoop de doo. Joke.
You never use the book. And honestly the only reason i go to lecture is because of the clicker questions. Advice for the tests: a week before the exam, go online and take the practice tests over and over again until you have them memorized and you will ace the test.
not the greatest lecture teacher, but all you need to do to pass the tests are memorize the self-tests online. lecture is only good for clicker points.
This class is an easy A or B. lectures are somewhat interesting and she is not the most entertaining at times. I got a B and I did not attend class for the last few weeks. TAKE THE ONLINE QUIZES FOR SURE! trully if you do those over and over and over again you will pass with an easy a or b.
Not a good teacher. Does not use clicker anymore or let you memorize tests. Everyone used to get an A now you need to figure out what to study on your own. I still got a B but took way more effort than most gen eds with TONS of tests.
Anne is one of the greatest professors I have ever had! She is truly a wonderful woman who knows her stuff! Anyone who has anything negative to say didn't pay attention! Her class was interesting and fun! She is absolutely hilarious and very sweet!
Anne was really nice. Her lectures were actually interesting, and I have no interest in science! I was a little nervous for Bio, since I'm not a science person but she made the class good and I didn't mind going! She's a good teacher!
Lectures didn't help that much. I didn't buy the book, and I question how much this may have hurt me. The in class assignments don't help you prepare for the test at all. You can easily get a "B" with a little effort, but I would say the trade off between effort/time required to get an "A" is probably not worth it.
Class is kind of difficult. Attendence is highly recommended because a lot of the test ?'s are given througout lecture. However, tests are pretty difficult even if you do study. She is a good teacher but is very confusing. Goes WAY too fast and jumpes around a lot. overall, not the worse. she offers extra credit to help as well.
I love her!
She is absolutely useless and has the most ridiculous powerpoints! Attendance is not mandatory but she gives random quizzes. You WILL fall asleep in her class. She is kooky but she does have easy tests. But she NEVER gets back to you through email and does not have set office hours.
Goes through material way to fast. Expects students to know materials after mentioning it a single time. Very unclear, doesn't explain material in a way that should be done in a 100 level course.
She jumps around all the time and her powerpoints have too much info on them. Her tests are very difficult, even if you do study. She gives extra credit, but only a little. There are 5 exams instead of the normal 4. She gives a ton of pop quizzes so go to class. Don't buy the textbook, you don't use it. Overall not awful, but avoid her if you can
The way she words questions and teaches is confusing. overall not to bad, she spends a lot of time on FYI, I wish she would have taken some of that out and talked more about what was going to be on the exams.
There are so many points if you just do the work that you are supposed to and get C's on the test there is no reason why a B is not possible. The calss is sorta boring and the communication between the three instructorsw is lacking at times but overall it is a pretty good class.
This class is so useless. They cram more info in it than is necessary for a 100 level class. There are at least 10 videos each lecture &clicker points which make attendance mandatory. They force you to buy 2 books that you literally NEVER use. Mine are still in the plastic. It is poorly organized, poorly communicated to the T.A's & extremely boring
I've read a lot of people saying she jumps all over the place... it is true that she does this at times, but I think it's because she knows soooooo much about the topics. She's very intelligent and has a lot of great insight. I really like her. Sometimes the material seems challenging, but if you study for exams you will have no problem.
There is a lot of info that she goes over in class. The tests aren't all that hard, however the study guides that the honors students make are very extensive, 170 questions is a bit much for a test, so you have to study all the material because you don't know what will be on the test. She puts all the power points on blackboard. Overall ok class.
I enjoyed taking this class, the tests are difficult and the study guides have too much information but in class she tells you what will be on the test. Attendance is MANDATORY because she give sooo much extra credit and points in class, I received an A because of all the extra points
This professor was very unhelpful and not a very personable person. I am not very good at science but this class was fairly easy, the study guides made by the honors students made it harder than it had to be. There is so much material for one class, I wouldn't recommend taking it unless you have to.
This professor is not very helpful or personable. The class isn't very hard but there is a ton of material crammed into the semester. The study guides made by the honors students are ridiculous and are not very helpful due to the ammount of questions. If you are not good at Bio and may need help from the instructor, I wouldn't recomment this class.
This class is full of interesting information, but the professor is so confusing that she negates a lot of the subject matter. Her lecture slides are a mess and the study guides have had incorrect info. She does give a lot of extra credit, but I would avoid this class if you want to learn something and retain it. I wouldn't let her teach in a HS
hard class to get an A. She gives long powerpoints & random pop quizzes. tests r hard. u dont get a study guide until a day before the test & its stil not very helpful. i studied my butt off and still didnt get an A. she is lazy & makes the honors students make study guides and her ta grades everything. go to class & if u get lucky u might get an A
Honestly, the worst class I have ever taken my whole college career. Do NOT take this class. She is so unhelpful when you ask for help. She doesn't care that you don't understand. The test are impossible, I studied for hours and would do horrible. The study guides are done by the honor students, and they are nothing like the test! Don't take this!!
Worst teacher ever. Asked for help and she hardly gave it. Study guides are completely irrelevant to the class. The tests are so hard. I studied and studied and can barely get a B. The book is pretty much never used. Waste of money. She expects you to know everything before she even lectures.
Don't take this class. She expects you to know the lectures and material before she even teaches it. Her powerpoints are put together poorly. She does NOT clarify well enough what will be on exams even though each exam has over 115 powerpoint slides to study. This class could be SO MUCH BETTER.
Her powerpoints are sloppy and confusing. She moves way to fast and spends very little time on important material. She only made her evaluation available briefly online because she knows how bad she is. She doesn't offer help nor does she like when people ask for it after classes. The book is required but we never referred to it. Youve been warned
I don't know what everyone is talking about. Her power points could be sloppy but the tests were very straightforward. As long as you study the power points before you will do fine on the tests. Gives so much extra credit it's hard not to get an A in the class.
