I took Victorian Lit. and my advanced writing course from Anne. She's an awesome teacher. She's young, she loves what she teaches and she's good at it. Her papers are few and fair. She's willing to help and very intellegent. Just a great teacher!
Anne ranks among my favorite professors at BYU. She's funny, smart, clear in lectures, and she knows what she's talking about. I had her for English 292 and 314. She's always willing to use her office hours help students with a paper.
Great Teacher. Funny, smart, entertaining. She really wants to help students do their best. I plan on taking another class from her next semester.
She's one of the best professors I've had at BYU, and definitely the best English professor I've had. She's fair in her grading and very smart.
More concerned with getting through the material than facilitating meaningful discussions about England's great works. The class lectures feel like machine gun fire of facts and interpretations. If you are interested in reading a ton and forgetting most of it Anne is the teacher for you.
Three words: Sexy, sexy, sexy!
She is intelligent and interesting and is clearly passionate about what she teaches. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and actually looked forward to going. She gives a ton of useful feedback on your papers and allows a lot of class discussion. I plan on taking another class from her.
Anne is most definitely the best English professor at BYU. I loved her style and wit. She was always interesting to listen to and knows more than any other English professor I've had. If you have the chance, you must, I repeat, you must take a class from Anne.
I loved the pace of Anne's class. She had specific things to teach and wasn't about to miss any of it--I felt like I actually learned something. And her feedback on written work was fabulous--there's no question about why you got the grade you did.
There was a LOT of reading and I didn't understand most of it, but she goes over everything really well in class. She's funny and really interesting to listen to. Her tests are all from the notes and she gives you a study guide. There are also Response Papers that are pretty easy (just 1 page) and she's a fair grader.
Great teacher, ficilitates good discussions of material. The pace of her class is perfect, quick enough to keep you interested but she takes time to hear what students have to say and make sure everyone is understanding. She's kind of quirky and really funny so it's a good time in her class. The class load is reasonable. Loved her class.
Extremely smart and very funny. She has this fastball way of talking; it's hard to keep up but she goes over things often enough. She's obviously very passionate about her subject. (Mostly) very fair tests and papers. A little picky on the paper end of things though--make sure you get it right and know what she wants! I do recommend her.
She is very knowledgable, but TERRIBLE at getting assignments graded and back to you. She will sometimes take over a month to return a test or paper. I just found out my midterm test grade on the very last day of class. WAY too much reading for only 2 tests. There are over a hundred readings included on each test.
Pretty good teacher. Be sure to write good papers, even if they're short.
She is disorganized and always behind. Some questions on the tests are totally random- we never discussed them in class or readings. She cancelled class one day by sending out an email 5 minutes before class was supposed to start. She cancelled two other times as well, with little notice. A little bit of a know it all.
I really enjoyed Anne's teaching style. It is fast-paced, witty and fun. You get all the information you need for the tests, but you must study for them! The course includes a lot of information and this makes it seem difficult and rushed, but Anne is an amazing professor. The best at BYU. I secretly want to be her friend! She is that neat!
Prof Fleming is fantastic. Her lectures were fast-paced and funny. She is very witty. I learned a lot. The only thing I found frustrating was that the grades are based on almost nothing but the tests. I felt like I needed a little more padding than just two test scores. Overall, though,I really enjoyed her class.
Anne is fabulous! She's fun, witty, and extremely intelligent. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole class every time (even though it was 2.5 hours long). Yes, she's that good! Take this class!
If you want to improve your writing or learn to love writing take this class. Anne was so willing to help and she is very good at what she does. While she compliments your strengths, she can also recognize rooms for improvement and show you how to be better. You won't regret taking this class.
Make this class fit in your schedule - its worth it. If you want to improve your writing or learn to love writing take this class. Anne was so willing to help and she is very good at what she does. While she compliments your strengths, she can also recognize rooms for improvement and show you how to be better.
Anne Fleming is kind of crazy. She is VERY excited about the subject matter, and teaches wonderfully... It's just that her energy is sometimes distracting and even a little overwhelming. She's a great teacher though, and funny.
Anne is a great teacher. Tests are based right off the lecture so go to class. Skim over the reading and take good notes in class and you'll do great on the tests. Kind of picky on papers but over all super helpful and an amazing class!
I loved this class! Anne is amazing! She is hilarious and makes the subject matter much more exciting than it actually is. She sometimes is behind and cancels class a lot, but it does not take away from the overall clarity of the class.
Anne is a great professor! She is genuinely interested in her students, and gives lots of oppertunity to talk with her if you're worried about a paper. All assignments are assigned well before the due date, so there are no suprises. Class is fun and engaging. If you have to take 314, take it from Anne!
Fleming is smart and her tests are easy enough if you do the reading, but she has some tunnel vision, I think. That is, sometimes she has an idea of what a work of literature is saying and has a hard time seeing that it could mean something else.
Great professor! Very willing to help and go over papers. Class is engaging . . . she's hilarious, laughed every day i went. Readings were assigned clearly in the syllabus-few assignments, few tests, very clear and simple instructions. Really takes time to write helpful feedback on papers. Take her class, you won't regret it
I really liked this class. The tests were a bit rough but material was entirely covered in class. Very entertaining. She is a fast-talker but very dedicated to her subject and fun. Definitely recommend her.
Anne is awesome. She's one of the best English teachers I have ever had. She is very interesting to listen to, great at answering questions, and class discussions are extremely useful. Attendance isn't mandatory but you won't want to miss a single class. Do the readings and she her for help if you need it and you will learn a ton and get an A.
Dr. Fleming is an excellent teacher. She's funny, knowledgeable, and her lessons are a blast. I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy criticism, but Dr. Fleming made the subject fun and interesting. She gives very detailed advice when grading papers, and she takes time to prepare the class for essays and help everyone with their writing.
Anne is very passionate about what she teaches, and I really appreciated that. Quizzes are hard, but the papers and other assignments were very manageable. She is very willing to help if you ask!
Great professor and a great class. If you do your part and read and prepare for the quizes (which is just memorization of sheets she gives you in class and reviewing the criticism essays you have read) you will do just fine! She is very willing to meet with you and help. Great class!
Wonderful teacher. She's exciting, knowledgeable, and helpful. She has one-on-one conferences to go over drafts, which are super helpful. I've learned a ton just from those. I would take another class from her in a heartbeat. Very fair class - come to class, write, learn, enjoy.
She is absolutely fantastic. This is an advanced writing course--so there is obviously a lot of writing, but Anne is super, her feedback is helpful and encouraging. She meets with you to improve your writing. She is intelligent and interesting to listen to.
She is amazing! She has you do a pretty good amount of writing, but that's what the class is. The paper at the end is big, but she goes through it in steps and sets up appointments with you so it's really easy. There is tons of help and feedback available. I felt like my writing improved a ton.
I LOVE Anne! This class is definitely my favorite this semester. Anne is extremely knowledgeable and really gets good discussions going in class. Everything is worthwhile and interesting. I've never been bored in class. She is also hilarious. She covers assignments clearly, ALWAYS offers help, and gives excellent feedback. Again, I LOVE her!
Dr. Fleming is one of the best professors I've had! I was a little wary of taking a Shakespeare class, but the way she presents the material and helps you understand is perfect. She does require a lot of reading and writing, but it is on awesome Shakespearean novels! Take this class for your letters credit! It is super fun and totally worth it!
I loved Professor Fleming. She knows her stuff and makes it pretty interesting to learn. She tells you what the test will be like an gives you a study guide. As long as you pay attention in class and put in at least 10 minutes into studying you should be okay. She's always willing to work with you on the papers, which aren't that bad.
Took Shakespeare from Anne and loved it! She is one of the greatest professors! The class was so engaging and she is very fun to listen to. So funny too. Class is a lot of discussion but helps you learn. It is Shakespeare so its hard but worth it! Be ready to write argument essays but she is very wiling to help! he makes the best cookies ever!
Anne Fleming is awesome. If you like Shakespeare, you should definitely take this class from her. Make sure you read the assigned reading before class, and start on your papers early. The tests are straightforward if you attend class, read the plays, and study the handouts she emails to you. Very good core class--not there to weed you out.
I don't like English. I liked Intro to Fiction with her because she made it amazing in her lectures. 5 papers throughout the semester and a few quizzes, but she makes it very clear what is expected and encourages us to meet with her if we have any questions. She's also really funny. I definitely recommend her!
Anne's Victorian Lit class was my favorite class taken at BYU thus far! She is hilarious and has some great insights into literature and the era. I would take this class again in a heart beat. Tests are all written and there are lots of dates to memorize, plus an essay, but she emails you most of the notes you need. Must go to class to pass.
Anne is a national treasure. Very witty and passionate about the subject. The reading isn't completely necessary, but it helps. The most important thing is to go to class. 90% of the test material is from lectures. Very entertaining class!
I absolutely love Anne! If you're going to take Shakespeare, take it from her. She is so fun and easy-going. There's 3 short response papers and 1 formal paper. Super easy & clear expectations. 2 tests, also fairly easy because she posts the info on Learning Suite. If you want to have a great time and learn a ton, take this class!
One of my favorite professors. Anne is a total gem - super witty, makes learning the history behind the Shakespeare quite fun. There are 3 short response papers (1-2 pages) and 1 longer paper. Her expectations are always clear, and she gives great feedback on your work. Test material comes from class. Do yourself a favor and take a class from her!
I had Professor Fleming for Shakespeare. She gives great lectures, very entertaining and welcomes class participation and discussion. There were several papers but she gives awesome feedback on each one so you can do better the next time. Very understanding about grades and is very available outside of class. Would definitely take from her again
I absolutely adore Anne! I have taken two classes from her and she is a wonderful teacher, who gives great feedback and helps you improve and progress as well as have fun and explore your own creativity. Fair grader, doesn't ask too much of you and is willing to help you out with any concerns. Also she's hilarious. Love her and her classes! 10/10
Anne is amazing!! She understands that we all aren't English majors and is very encouraging when we participate. I didn't expect to enjoy this class as much as I did. I think this is the English class I have learned the most in. If you can take a class from Anne, do it.
One of my most favorite professors at BYU! She has a great enthusiasm and passion for what she teaches. Gives great feedback on papers. I found the tests to be heavily lectured base but her lectures are amazing and interesting. It was a class that i always looked forward to going to. If you have the opportunity to - take Flemming's classes! :D
Anne Flemming is fantastic! Hilarious and fun lecturer. Lots of reading, but this is the intro to English class, what do you expect? 5 papers , group presentation, 5 tests. Do your reading, put effort into your papers and study for your tests and you will have an A. She is one of my favorite professors. Take her!
Anne knows her stuff, she's quirky, and she'll have you laughing. But exceptionally slow to grade work, so writing didn't improve until after I'd already submitted 2+ more assignments with similar mistakes. Really disorganized. Lots of class discussion rather than teacher lecture (not my fave). 3 short papers, 2 research, 2 tests. Not recommended.
I absolutely loved this class, and I am not one to read!! It is a lot of class discussion on crime in literature, but participation isn't necessary. If you pay attention in class and put forth effort in the few papers required, you will be totally fine. She is slow to get grades back, but Anne is a character and makes up for it.
Anne is an awesome teacher! I wasn't expecting to enjoy an English class very much, I was just taking it for the general credit; but Anne made this class so interesting and engaging. I would highly recommend taking any class from her.
Great person, but she definitely lacks professionalism. She is late to every class. Most assignments are graded after finals. No real feedback on papers. She is super nice and will work with you if you need to miss a day.
I loved Dr Fleming! She has amazing insight and lectures on the books we read for class. She loves participation and really cares about what we say. She gave good feedback on our papers and was willing to work with us if we had any questions.
Anne's teaching style for zoom classes is very much based on discussion of the reading and writing assignments with the occasional power point. We went in breakout rooms often, so participation is big in this class. There aren't too many assignments, but there are a few really big ones. Drafts for these would be due each class for peer review.
Anne is awesome, that's about it. She's funny and makes class pretty engaging. She's also a relatively easy grader.
During class, you are bound to hear at least one/two of these quotes from her: After asking a question "If it's obvious, indulge me. If not, take a stab at it." "Can anyone read this? No? We have lost ability to read. What a shame to society!" Referring to a breakout room "They are trying to solve all of the world's problems in two minutes."
I don't know how to describe her. You'll hear a lot of "if it's obvious indulge me, if not take a stab" when she asks a question which is annoying. She takes forever to respond to emails and isn't very organized but her class isn't super hard. Attendance is only required on conferencing days. She summarizes readings in class so I never did them.
Professor Fleming is passionate about writing, which made her lectures engaging and easy to follow. Attendance is only mandatory for certain lectures, which was nice. I learned a lot from this class. Also, she's hilarious.
I really enjoyed this class with Professor Fleming. She is really kind, approachable, and definitely knows what she is talking about. Just as a heads up: after taking the final, she had only submitted less than half of the grades for the course. So, if that is something that you don't like, then you should be aware.
BEST CLASS EVER! I even hate writing, but Anne was amazing at being real about writing and making me feel comfortable about where I was at on the writing spectrum. She an is amazing and has a lot to offer. Don't shy away from this class!!
I really enjoyed taking writing from Professor Fleming. Although there is lots of work, it didn't seem like busy work. Professor Fleming is an amazing teacher who really teaches concepts well. She is sooo funny, really kind, and makes her lectures super interesting! She is always super willing to help with anything. I would recommend her to anyone!
Dr. Fleming is AMAZING. She is super funny in her lectures, and she is really intelligent and knowledgable about English and English literature. She is very personable and definitely a fair grader. There is a lot of reading assignments though, so if you don't like reading, you probably should not take this class.
The class I took was about Crime in Victorian Literature, which was super interesting! The lectures are very interesting and engaging, and Prof Fleming is hysterical in an eccentric aunt sort of way. There is a lot of reading involved, but that's expected of a literature class. She gives good feedback on essays and cares about her students.
I genuinely had so much fun in this class and had to start making a quote list for Dr. Fleming because she threw in the randomest humor throughout class discussions. A lot of participation is required to keep the class moving forward but participation isn't graded.
I'd highly recommend her women's studies class if you still need the social/cultural gen ed credit. Dr. Fleming is both funny as well as straightforward, and I genuinely looked forward to this class. Very discussion-heavy, so do the readings (they're super interesting too). This class is very rewarding and eye-opening if you give it the time.
While a very nice lady, Professor Fleming was a little all over the place. She also struggled a little with using learning suite and that was a little frustrating at times. However, I liked how she structured the class and getting to discuss with students, sometimes I wished we discussed other viewpoints a little more, but overall it was fine.
I loved the readings she gave us. The discussions were also really cool, and I learned a lot. I recommend taking this class from her, and I also feel like this is a class everyone should take in general. There is a lot of reading and the midterm and final have a lot of writing. She made lectures fun while also dealing with serious topics.
Dr. Fleming is an amazing professor!!! She's very kind and trustworthy. She made the lectures fun and enjoyable and was also able to cover very heavy topics with grace. I always looked forward to this class and the readings even though they were long. Would highly recommend this class to anyone, one of my favorite classes I've taken at BYU.
Dr. Fleming is kind and passionate and this was one of the most interesting classes I have taken at BYU. Her passion sometimes translates to her cutting you off during discussions. Overall she is an inspiration to men and women alike. Loved her lines like: "if it's obvious just indulge me, but if not take a stab"
Dr. Fleming knew her stuff and was good at making sure everybody's comments were heard. I really enjoyed how this course was set up. Great class from Dr. Fleming!
Dr. Fleming bends over backwards to help her students succeed. She is funny and quirky during lectures. Readings are required for full attendance points (based on honor code). Most of the readings were delightful though. This class, by nature, had a decent number of writing assignments, but they were practical applications of course content.
Professor Fleming was amazing this semester! She helped me become a better writer and also prepared me to write professional papers in my field as a teacher. She gives a lot of time to prepare papers and pieces we turn in and always gives us feedback and allows us to work with other students and receive feedback.
absolutely loved taking her class! Very discussion based which led to great conversations in class. Readings assigned each class period then discussed that day.
Dr. Fleming was an amazing professor. I took Advance Writing for Educators from her and it mainly focused on teaching writing but I was able to learn so much! We wrote a lot of things that were so beneficial for future teachers and her class was so much fun. She gives great feedback on your papers and wants you to succeed. Take this class!
Professor Fleming is amazing! She is very engaging in her lectures, and made them interesting with funny comments and stories. There is a lot of group work during class which is great, and the class is mainly just readings. There is a midterm and final exam, but she is not a harsh grader, but very understanding.
She's smart and cares about your success. She gives good constructive feedback on your writing. I like her. I didn't like the class very much, but I think that's the nature of the class, not her. I think she made it as bearable as it possibly could have been. Plan on a pretty heavy workload for this class, especially if you're a slow writer like me
I really enjoyed this class from Dr. Flemming! It was super engaging and enlightening with all the class and small group discussions. There is a good amount of reading, but it can't be skipped because that is what the tests are based on. There are not many assignments which leaves a lot of points based on the midterm, final, and research project.
Loved this class! The class discussions were well led and very insightful. Not many assignments, so test heavy and the Midterm + Final were a little scary (multiple choice section, short answer section, + essay question for both), but definitely doable. A lot of reading, but necessary for the class discussions and exams and was interesting content.
She's great. She's funny, engaging, she care about us, she's respectful, and she offers balanced viewpoints in a class that is frustratingly one sided sometimes. I like her a lot.
One of the best classes I have ever taken! Dr. Fleming handled hard topics with such patience and care. She's hilarious and I loved her class, really opened my eyes to so many issues around the world. The books we read were very informative and analytical. There was a TON of reading but all beneficial to the class.
I absolutely LOVE Dr. Fleming. She is passionate, funny, and very knowledgeable. She facilitates great discussions and is a very fair grader. I feel like I always got good feedback on my writing to help me improve! Get ready to read, but all of the readings are super engaging and informative!
Dr. Fleming is great! The class is discussion-based rather than lecture-based, and participation is encouraged. She is very respectful of people's opinions and provides nuanced views of complex and controversial topics. You can't skip the readings in this class - the whole midterm and final are based on them. Be prepared to read a lot!
This class is very discussion-based. The professor is very respectful of others' opinions in the discussions, and she is very funny when she teaches. There is a lot of reading to do before each class period. Readings are very important because that is what the midterm and final are based on. If you keep up with the readings, it won't be that hard.
Professor Fleming is an amazing teacher! Class is heavily based on readings and discussions. She would give us discussion questions that we would then discuss in small groups. We would write our thoughts on a shared Google doc with the class, which was really nice for the exams. Her class is so fun, and you learn a lot!
Try not to take a lot of other busy classes. There were a few weeks when no assignment was due, but I should have used that to get ahead. The research paper and portfolio were brutal because I saved half of the work for the day of. Don't be me! Also, Dr. Fleming is really sweet and she has an extension for the paper. Come to class. Do the readings.
she a very fun professor. dominates the speaking time and sometimes shuts down students for comedic sake but it was a good class
Dr. Fleming is nice, willing to work with you, and smart. She's funny and quirky, but a little scattered. She was late to class almost every day and sometimes would interrupt students. Overall, it was a manageable class and the main issues I had with the course were due to the course, not Dr. Fleming. She helped me enjoy writing again.
Dr. Fleming is very caring and knowledgeable! She gives really good feedback, especially during the one-on-one conferences going over the big writing assignments. She also makes the best cookies!
Dr. Fleming is one of my favorite professors at BYU. She is extremely knowledgeable and does her teaching through class discussions. Majority of the grade in this class is for the final paper, midterm, and final. If you like to read, this is a great class for you.
Lots or reading, lots of participation, but the class is incredible
Fun professor and very passionate about her subject. Attendance was mandatory, but it could have been optional. There was a lot of reading and writing, but that's the name of the game for writing classes. Advanced Writing for Educators with Dr. Fleming is a great class if you are going into education.
If you can self-manage your time, this is an easy A. There are a couple fairly large projects, but you have plenty of time to complete them and lots of guidance. Dr. Fleming is a solid professor, really cares about writing, and gives good feedback. There is also a lot of group work, but it's all in class and not for a grade - just discussion.
Overall a really good professor. Lots of writing assignments, but she made them all so approachable and gave us plenty of time to complete them. She gave a lot of time in class for us to work with small groups to share our writing and get feedback, and even met with us individually a couple of times to give feedback before submission.
Dr. Flemming cares a lot about her students and if you are willing to ask for help she is willing to give it. The semester starts slow on assignments and ramps up at the end, so make sure you stay on top of the assignment. She also tells you when to bring in rough drafts, so make sure you due because it will help you to stay on track.
I feel like the content of this course would be more appropriate over two semesters versus the one semester it was crammed into. There is a lot of reading every class. Great content and I learned a lot but for a 3 credit class towards a minor, the time demands were too much and I wasn't able to focus on it as much as I would have liked.
She was so great! There were a lot of readings for this class, but very few assignments. The class was mainly focused on engaging in a group discussion about the readings. There is a research project at the end, but she gives many resources to help with it. The tests are not hard if you do the readings and engage in class.
Dr. Fleming is a wonderful, witty, and intelligent professor. It is obvious that she cares about her work and her students. Her course load includes a lot of reading, but it is interesting and definitely manageable. Attendance and participation are required, but her classes are so fun you won't want to miss them!
This class was great! There is a research paper that counts for a good portion of the final grade, but Professor Fleming has it spaced out so you do it in parts. There are also quite a few readings and a teacher portfolio due at the end of the semester, but it was manageable. Professor Fleming is very willing to help with assignments and questions!
I have learned so much about research papers and didn't realize how applicable to my future this class would be, but I hate writing so it was a difficult class because there was so much writing. A "short" 12 page research paper is the main assignment and you spend most of the time talking about different parts of the paper.
She is very knowledgable about what she teaches, and she is very invested in our projects. She meets with you throughout the semester to make sure you are on track. My only issue is the lack of rubrics - it can be tough to know exactly what you'll be graded on. Super energetic and engaging!
Professor Fleming is the best. I was nervous to take this class but I enjoyed it a lot and always looked forward to class. There are lots of chances to discuss your assignments with the people around you, which was so helpful. She also conferences individually with you for your narrative and research paper, to give really good individual feedback.
I enjoyed taking Professor Fleming for Writing 312. I like how we get to pick the topics we write about in our essays. When you meet with her you can tell she is invested in your writing and wants to help you succeed. She is available to meet outside of class.
Dr. Fleming was a great professor. You can tell she cares for her students and is always willing to give feedback on our writing assignments. She helped give us all the information and resources necessary to complete our papers, etc. I would recommend this class if you need to complete a GE. Overall, it was a great class, but get ready to write!
It was an advanced writing class, but honestly it could have been way worse! Lots of group work in class and working on writing in class, lots of conferences, very accomindating and will work with you. It is a class you have to put effort into, but you will be very grateful for Anne!
Dr. Fleming is great! This class wasn't super hard but is a little time consuming. She is kind and is always willing to meet up and help with any questions that you have on the research paper or anything else in the class!
I thought Professor Fleming did a good job teaching all the necessary aspects of persuasive writing. Obviously get ready to write, but I didn't feel like it was an overwhelming amount of work and she gave a far amount of time to complete everything. Overall a good class to take for general credit.
Dr. Fleming is awesome, she has lots of energy and cares a lot about her students! I don't typically like writing but she made it enjoyable. We had to write 4 main papers (three 4-5 page papers and one 11-12 page paper). I would say it was pretty manageable for an advanced writing class. I would definitely recommend Dr. Fleming
This class was so fun! There is a lot of writing which is expected but there was more than a normal writing class here at BYU. However, She makes all the writing manageable and has a built in extension on one paper if you need it. On the large papers you have several conferences which make it nice to recieve feedback before turning final drafts in.
She is super fun and energetic! Engaging lectures, but lots of papers--but that's typical for the class.
Dr. Fleming is a fantastic professor! The lectures were engaging, and she's really energetic. She breaks down writing assignments to make them more manageable. The course load looks like a lot at the beginning of the semester, but it wasn't too bad. Definitely consider taking 313 from Dr. Fleming!
I honestly loved this class! You can tell she has a passion for writing and she wants to ignite that in her students. She is super understanding and incredibly willing to help. She gives super useful feedback on essays! Great class overall (lots of writing, but that's to be expected).
I loved taking Dr. Fleming's class! She made a seemingly heavy workload way more manageable. The class is structured SO well in the students' favor, you can really tell she cares about you. I also went through a super traumatic experience at the beginning of the semester and she was so accommodating and understanding. I'd definitely take from her!
Dr. Fleming is amazing! You can tell that she truly cares for her students and she gives such helpful feedback on all your assignments. I would highly recommend taking a class from her!
Anne is awesome! Her lectures are great, if you participate you'll get a lot out of it. Most of the time in class all we're doing is going over things for our papers that are due and working with our group to revise each others paper. There are a few papers but I always felt like I had adequate time to complete each one!
Professor Fleming really cares about her students. The load for this class is pretty heavy, with lots of essays and assignments, but she broke it all up very well and was always available to help us out if we asked for it! I absolutely recommend taking any class from her. She is also hilarious and made every class enjoyable!
She gave good feedback, and even though there were some pretty big writing projects, she gave us plenty of time to prepare for them. The only thing I wish she had done was give us some sort of rubric so we knew exactly how she would grade us, not just through word of mouth.
I loved taking this class from Dr. Fleming, she's great! The work load was never too terrible. She did a great job of easing us into the bigger projects/assignments. Some weeks there was hardly any homework, other weeks there was a lot. If you stay on top of things and get it done in her recommended order, it's actually a really enjoyable class!
Dr Fleming made this class so awesome, even at 9 am with the departments mandatory attendance policy. She's funny, caring, and super intelligent.
Honestly she's great! She's has opportunities for extensions, extra credit, and she holds helpful conferences where she will discuss your papers with you one on one. Yes, there are lots of papers but it is a writing class so that's a given.
Professor Fleming's lectures are engaging and the class is organized to work efficiently so the challenging and long assignments are made manageable. Professor Fleming held two mandatory conferences throughout the semester. Each time, she made me a better writer. Her feedback is helpful and kind. The content is valuable outside of class.
I loved Professor Fleming! I felt like this class was very doable. She gave so many opportunities to discuss what we were working on with classmates, tips on how to succeed and applicable instruction on how to become better writers. Attendance is mandatory but the classes were helpful so it was worth coming every time. 10/10 would recommend.
Professor Fleming gives really good feedback and is there to help you succeed in her class! She's always willing to meet with you outside of class to help you work on your papers. The workload isn't too bad, Professor Fleming does a great job of easing you into the papers and as long as you don't leave them until the last minute you should do fine!
Dr. Fleming is such a fun professor! I was always laughing in her class and I really enjoyed it! The writing in the class was manageable and I learned a lot! I would definitely take a class from her again!
This class could have been the absolute worst, but because Professor Fleming is so understanding and easy to work with, it made the class very enjoyable! I usually have a hard time writing papers, and there's a lot of them in this class, but she structures them in a way that makes it easy to digest and she gives great feedback to help you do well!
I loved her so much!!!! The amount of work in this class is very reasonable for a 3-credit class. She is very nice, accessible, and accommodating. I would definitely take this class again!!!!!!
Loved Professor Fleming! You could tell she really cares about the subject and about each student doing well! There are several conferences that I had with her throughout the semester for an assignment in which she read my whole paper and gave me feedback which was so helpful! Would absolutely recommend!
I loved taking WRTNG 312 from Professor Fleming. She is so kind and gives great feedback to improve writing. If I could take more classes from her I would.
She gives great feedback, sometimes it's really specific, so with that comes harsher grading. She's really helpful though and I felt like I've learned a lot more about writing through the class. If you come to her for help and start your papers early, the work is doable.
Dr Fleming is very helpful in her conferences with students about their progress on writing assignments. Students got good grades on their papers, but I don't think Dr Fleming gives out 100's-- though she always offers good feedback. Class attendance is mandatory and 75% of class time is just discussions in breakout groups.
Professor Fleming is very passionate about writing and was an excellent professor. She holds conferences for the major papers and narratives, but was also easy to reach outside of class to meet besides that. She's a reasonable grader and leaves detailed feedback! Overall, it was a fun class and an average amount of work for a writing class.
Great professor. Takes a long time to grade but gives good feedback. Conferences were very helpful.
Professor Fleming is a qualified caring professor. Her class was organized, entertaining, and engaging. She makes writing doable and fun! Almost every class we worked in groups, either giving feedback or sometimes presenting our work. I found our one-on-one conferences with very helpful for my writing.
It was a really good class, I would recommend taking persuasive writing from her. I liked how you could write on any topic you wanted to and she gave a lot of feedback to help you improve your papers and get a better grade.
Professor Fleming is a great instructor. I appreciate how she keeps discussions open with her unbiased approaches. She is very respectful of others' opinions and talks about important worldwide issues. My only gripe is that it's sometimes difficult to discuss certain issues in groups if your approach is different from other students in the class.
Prof. Fleming is super caring and supportive. Her fast-paced lectures help me focus (ADHD-friendly!). She's great at leading fun, mandatory group discussions, and class attendance is required, but enjoyable. Readings are key, especially for easy weekly digital dialogues. The study guide for the midterm and final is key for passing—you'll do great!
Overall very good, extremely beneficial class and capable and knowledgable teacher. Really good at leading in class discussions. I had no clue what was going on for the tests. And she talks really really fast. Like take a deep breath please.
Dr. Fleming is so kind and is very knowledgeable! Her readings were very applicable to class as that is what we discussed. She is very accommodating, you just need to reach out to her. Her exams are difficult, because you have no clue what will be on the exams.
Dr. Fleming is an amazing professor. She knows her stuff and is passionate about what she teaches. She is a fair grader and there is a lot of room to get a good grade on assignments. The class has a LOT of out of class readings. We had 1 midterm and a final, a discussion board every week and a lengthy research paper due at the end of the semester.
I really enjoyed taking GWS from Dr. Fleming. Each day I came to understand her depth of character and attention to small detail, which I admire. Some topics we discussed in class were about issues that not everyone saw eye to eye with, but Dr. Fleming allowed everyone's opinion to be heard, understood, and respected. She's a brilliant person.
Professor Fleming is very intelligent and knowledgable, but she does talk kind of fast sometimes. She is very kind and understanding about the workload that the class requires, but be aware that this class has a lot of reading especially if you take it spring term. The tests can be difficult but she does tell you what to study.
This was a good class, but not a great class in my opinion. Class work was very fair, sufficiently challenging, but not overwhelming. I don't think I meshed very well with the professor's personality. She is very direct, and for me, this sometimes inhibited my feeling listened to or like something was a true discussion. She also talks fast.
Prof Fleming was a very kind and engaging professor. I enjoyed the class overall. Attendance was mandatory, and there was a lot of discussion with the class and in small groups. Exams seemed daunting but were manageable if you had a grasp on the readings. She's very comfortable pushing back with comments from students - don't take it personally.
I loved Dr. Fleming! Her class was work, but it all felt relevant, and not too time consuming. Instead of a final, she had a final project, and the last few assignments were all to prepare you to go out into the teaching world (resumes/cover letters, etc). She also does research conferences and gives great feedback before your projects are due!
Professor Fleming is actually amazing! She really cares about your success as a writer and gives writing feedback in a way that makes you feel like you can actually succeed in your writing assignments. She also keeps lectures interesting and has a fun sense of humor that helps keep you engaged.
Dr. Fleming is pretty great! She does great writing conferences and is so willing to help with papers, she's funny, and made an 8am class bearable.
I loved Dr. Flemings class. I learned a lot and she was so helpful during the learning process. I could tell that she cared so much when I talked to her. Assignments weren't bad, just a few essays and presentations. It was a great class!
Great professor, and has some funny stories. Professor adapts the class/assignments to be inclusive for nonmajors. The class is made up of a narrative, research project, lesson plan, and a teaching profile unit. Most points go toward the research paper as we spend most of class working on it. I found it hard to find a clear rubric for the papers.
She's a great professor and super passionate about writing. A lot of class time is spent going over drafts with classmates and it didn't always feel super helpful. The grade from this class is based solely off a few big writing assignments, along with lower point shorter writing papers.
Dr Fleming was fun and the class was not too difficult. One huge paper but if you get started early its not bad at all. First assignment was a shock because I didn't know what she wanted but once you get the first assignment back its pretty chill to figure out what to do.
Professor Fleming is very very good! Her assignments are easy to understand with clear expectations. No tests, just lots of papers and projects but she is a very fair grader and gives lots of opportunity for you to ask questions and receive help.
Great professor. Really easy to meet with outside of class. Would recommend this class.
Great class. For a 300 level class the work load was not bad. Easy to meet with outside of class
Very solid and reasonable professor. She knows her stuff and designs the course to help you succeed. You have to put the work in, but she builds in opportunities to receive feedback and workshop together to improve your final products
Fantastic professor. Assignments are organized, and instructions are clear. She is super approachable and always ready to help when needed. She is also a pretty fair grader. It is a writing class, so expect to write a bit, but other than that, I would definitely recommend this class.
Dr. Fleming is awesome and wants you to succeed. I was super nervous for this class but she made it easy and stress free. I would take it again for sure!
Professor Fleming was great! She is really funny and entertaining. I was really worried about a GE writing class, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. There is a lot of writing, but it really wasn't bad. I just wish that she had been putting in our grades throughout the semester.
Professor Fleming is great! I got a lot of feedback on my writing was helpful and she did a great job giving assignments to prepare for teaching. I felt like all assignment were helpful and useful. You have 1 long paper and a couple shorter writing assignments but it isn't challenging if you put in the time and effort.
Professor Fleming helped me get comfortable writing. She had us write about whatever we wanted and that gave me confidence that I was a good writer when I cared about the subject I was writing. This class seemed to have a very reasonable amount of work. Even though I took it at 8 am it seemed to go by fast and I always looked forward to going.
I added the class late and she was very accommodating to help me get caught up. She is always available to meet. Sets out clear expectations for assignments. Would take again from her.
Dr. Fleming is wonderful. I have always hated writing but after taking her class I love it! She was very fair with her assignments and grading and leaned on the side of mercy for the students. I loved her!
Professor Fleming is funny and she always has a positive attitude and makes class fun. She gives great feedback! She takes time to do 2 online meetings with each student and review two different writing assignments. She also allows you an extension with one of the main assignments. She wants you to love writing, and she helped me learn to love it!
I loved this class! The assignments were organized so we had plenty of time to do them and also receive feedback as we were working on them. She also had individual conferences with us to help us improve our essays. She does not accept late work, but there is one extension you can use if you need more time for one of the bigger assignments.
I hate writing but Dr. Fleming made this class very reasonable and gives you a lot of time and preparation for all of your major assignments! Attendance is mandatory so make sure you go to class but seriously, this class is a pretty painless way to get this credit done! Would totally recommend for any El Ed majors or anyone else!
Really great professor! Super quirky, super funny. She has three required textbooks, but you basically don't use them after the first 3 weeks. One long research paper, but she gives you plenty of time to really make it a solid paper. Also super helpful with workshopping and helping you figure out what you want to say
Dr. Fleming was very funny and made classes entertaining! It took a while to get grades back but there was always great feedback on assignments and many opportunities to revise and work with others. Rubrics were hard to find and fairly general but if you follow the directions and look at the samples you should be fine.
For a writing class, there were only a few big writing assignments, which was great for me! Dr. Fleming doesn't bash on your writing but gives really helpful suggestions to improve it. She truly loves what she teaches, and it shows. Great class!
Dr. Fleming is amazing! Her classes are super fun, the textbooks are interesting to read, and we do a lot of peer review in class (which means we do a lot of discussions that are actually helpful for improving our writing). And she brings us cookies! Be aware, there is an 11-12 page research paper, but she gives you a month and levels it up slowly.
Prof Fleming is great! She has three required textbooks. I didn't buy any of them and never did readings. It never negatively affected me in class nor my grade. She's funny and really cares about what she teaches. Attendance is required. Great teacher. Sometimes a little too energetic for me at 8am. Other than that, she's awesome.
Professor Fleming is so fun! The material in this class is not the most exciting to learn about as all writing classes are pretty rough, but she actually found a way to make it enjoyable. I didn't dread writing because she sets up the class in a way that makes it very doable and is a good amount of work but easy to pace yourself. Take this class!!
Dr. Fleming is one of my favorite professors I have ever had. Before this class I did not consider myself as a writer. She really helped me develop my writing skills and love writing more. She was very relatable and helpful in class. She gave great, specific feedback and clear instructions. I definitely recommend her for this class.
Dr. Fleming is honestly such a good professor. She is quite whimsical at times and cares a lot about her students. I had some interesting circumstances in her class and she worked with me on everything I needed. You really need to show up to class to do well in it. Lecture is mostly really helpful. She also brings cookies sometimes!
Professor Fleming is very clear about her expectations for you in the class. She is willing to work with you if you get behind or have struggles with assignments, but she still expects you to do the work. I did enjoy the conferencing aspect of her class - it helped me to know I was on the right track for larger papers we were writing.
Dr. Fleming is the best! She really cares about her students and finds ways to help all of us succeed in her class. She is very passionate about writing and helps you to be confident in your own writing skills as well. I really recommend taking a class with her!
Professor Fleming is kind and cares about her students, offering many chances to workshop assignments. Some lectures feel repetitive, and the major 11-12 page research paper was tough. While she helps with sources, there's little scaffolding/accountability to expand drafts, and the research paper counts for 32% of the grade.
I love Dr. Fleming! Before this class, I had never considered myself a writer. Now, I know that I am, that it's something I love, and that I can help others with! She gives excellent feedback and is SO willing to help you with anything! You can get by in class without the readings, but DO them! They changed how I write and see myself as a teacher.
