Best teacher at OU! Very helpful and very smart!
She is incredibly nice. She really cares about the student learning when she is teaching.
She is the best professor. she is always prepared and very organized even though she is really busy with her research!
Very nice teacher who really cares about her students doing well. She is very organized and clear about what she expects from her students. Best BIO prof at OU.
Great Teacher, but a little boring, very easy to fall asleep. SI will help a ton, GO TO IT.
Very helpful! One of the best at OU.
I was worried going into this course because of the high drop rates and stuff, but if you have this prof then you don't have to worry, she is very clear and is very willing to help, final is easy, just questions from old tests
lectures are hard to follow. difficult to determine what she may put on tests. study it ALL and u will do ok.
interesting class. professor is well prepared. class is administered as a sequence of powerpoint slides.
One of Oakland's finest. Lectures are clear and consise. Prof. Hitt is easy going and helpful.
The class is full of hotties... hard to pay attention. You have to read the book well and study for the tests. Its definitely not a blow-off type class. But prepare and its OK.
She is a very clear and very understanding teacher. Sometimes she can lose you in her long lectures, but hey, its college. Her practice exams and notes sometime have NOTHING to go with the questions on the exam.
Although the tests are easier compared to most, she likes to get EXTREMELY tricky on exams and the practice tests have absolutely nothing to do with the exams... BIZARRO!
Boring lectures, easy to fall asleep. Tests are very tricky, her notes are useful, but using the book to study is more helpful. Study hard for this one
She knows her stuff but rambles alot. Go to class if you want to do well and take notes and read the book. This class is a lot of work but if you keep up the material isnt all that hard. And yes her practice tests have nothing to do with the real tests!
Difficult class, but I think that's the way it is. Hitt was very helpful if you needed the help and asked her. She makes sure that everyone understandsd everything but most of the time it's so overwelming that nobody asks questions. Drops lowest test score and curves others so it helps.
Wasn't a hard class, just had to study the material that was given and read the chapters.
Dr. Hitt is one of my favorite professors. The class was kinda hard, but you can do good if you read the book and pay attention in class.
The class moves fast, and you def. have to read the chapters and follow along on the notes she gives you online. When she lectures she moves through the slides quickly, hard to follow along if you have no idea what shes talking about. NOT an EASY class!
HORRIBLE teacher! thats all i have to say
I think that she is a pretty good teacher. Fair tests...and is VERY helpful. Out of all of the OU bio professors she is one of the easiest. I'd recommend taking her. KEEP UP WITH NOTES!!
Very nice lady... knows what she's talking about. If you need help, she's there for you! HARD class though... you really need to take your time to study for these tests. Study and you'll be fine.
All I'm saying is STUDY THE NOTES EVERYDAY AND DON'T FALL BEHIND BECAUSE THERE'S WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION to know.
Basically if you are like me and not study a lot then you will fail the class. She is a little crazy in the head and sometimes does examples in class and they are totally wrong and she doesnt realize it. She will definetly keep you until the end of the class which sucks.
she really knows the material. she is kinda spunky lol...but she is a really good teacher. dont fall behind in the class...you have to read the book and study
She is a good professor, but bio 111 is not easy keep up with the notes, and read!!!
Honestly... this class is not all that bad. if you come to class, listen to the luctures and STUDY you will pass without a doubt. Dr. Hitt is a nice lady and she's great at explaining things.
DO NOT FALL BEHIND! Read the notes over all the time.. because the final is over all 21 chapters. Shes a good teacher and offers help, but the information that you must know for this class is overwhelming if u dont study or prepare yourself.
Difficult Class---READ THE BOOK---But Great Professor. She's willing to give you all the help you need. Make sure you introduce yourself to her. She likes that a lot.
Don't be too intimidated by this class. Dr. Hitt is a great prof, & willing to answer any questions you have. She even posts practice exams online! All you need is determination to sit down & study for the tests. But its totally doable to get an A!
The class is difficult if you don't study hard, but Dr. Hitt is a very good professor. She covers all of the material on the exams, answers all and any questions, and posts great practice exams- I would recommend her!
Dr. Hitt is a great professor. She explained the material very well and made sure her students understood. Her previous years tests are almost the same each year, so ask if she could post it on WebCT.
She is ok. Some of her lectures were really boring but others were really interesting. Her exams are striaght forward. Study and you'll find this class pretty simple.
She is an excellent professor and knows her stuff very well! She wants everyone to do and and to pass. She gives practice tests online that are very similar to the real thing. Exams are pretty hard-you need to study and go to class. I would recommend her.
Shes great, just go to class.
Hitt is a great TEACHING professor.. However, her exams were made very unclear as to what she wanted. This class is hard work. If you study and come to class you can do well. SI is also a huge help!!
Worst professor I've had yet. Refuses to legitimately answer questions. Doesn't teach just reads useless powerpoints that are available on the net. No real reason to go to class. Exam questions vaguely worded and you will wonder how you got -15 on a test when you graded it yourself and got -5. 3.7 student got around a 3.2 after TRYING HARD.
Great Professor! Just study her practice tests and the notes & you'll do good. SI helps to. But, You MUST study people... this is college. A lot of people who rate on here are freshmen and have not adjusted to college. College is not easy for a reason! By the way... I got a 4.0 in this class. so it is possible to do good ;)
Oh My!! What a great prof!! She's a little bit scatterbrained and silly, but she has such a passion for Bio! She will make things very interesting even if you had no interest going in to her class. Be prepared for alot of note taking, and diagrams seem to help. She tries to keep you engaged and shows some pretty neat animations and videos. A+!
she is one of the best Pro. in the school. she is so clear and hopefull to answer all questions. It is a really intersting class to take.
I only showed up for the exams and got a 3.6. All I did was memorize the study guides and practice tests for about 3 hrs the night before. The tests are EXACTLY like the practice exams/reviews. Just attempt to do well and you can't get less than a 3.0. Highly recommended. =] DO NOT buy the book! Never once used it.
One of the best at Oakland, test material is fair and she lets you know exactly what is expected for the test. Helpful outside of class, all powerpoints online print them out it helps in lecture.
Hitt is a good teacher. She lectures straight from the notes. Tests are very difficult though. Likes to throw curveballs at you on the exams. Don't buy the book. Oh, and she uses EVERY LAST MINUTE of class time.
A good class - a lot of information is covered. Print out the powerpoints before hand and don't wait until the last minute to study for exams. Very helpful outside of class even though she is super-busy with her lab.
A lot of material is covered in class, but if you study and put in an effort then you'll get a good grade. Awesome professor and very helpful. I would definately recommend taking any of her classes. One of the best bio profs. at oakland
Such a hard class. I got great grades in high school and I had to drop this class before I failed. We were always 4+ chapters ahead of other classes because she went so fast. And she definitely assumed that you should know what she's talking about even though its an intro-bio class, so don't bother to ask questions...
Folks, this is the EASIEST biology class you will take at OU. Hands down. If you are having trouble with it, you are not cut out to be a biology major. Trust me. (And it is normal for a third of your class to fail, mine did.)
This is such a hard class, especially for an intro-bio class. She throws out test questions because she words them wrong, confusing everyone. Never goes over the lab, never reviews for tests or the final exam, and goes way too fast over materials. We were the only bio class that finished almost everything on the syllabus. Not a fair grader either.
Intro level course, should be easy, but her questions on her tests are extremely confusing! It's like she's trying to confuse you
All you do is go over powerpoints, that she later posts on the web. There is a lot of material covered, so if you dont have time or don't put in the effort it will show. Labs are SUPER easy and stupid. Tests are extremely difficult, and there are no reviews. Also questions on the tests are very unclear because it is "pick the BEST POSSIBLE answer"
She is very confusing! During class she reads off of the slides and expects you to know it before she even teaches. Her tests are hard, the questions she uses are an attempt to try and confuse you. Passable but frustrated. Dont take if you dont have to.
This class is just packed with info so you have to spend time on it. She really goes over slides well and even draws her own diagrams on the board that are really helpful. I think she was great and I took her in the summer when it's an even faster pace for an already fast course.
This class was a waste of time. The professor never gave tests or assignments back in a timely manner, it took her over 4 weeks to return an assignment. She tells you a lot of useless information. She gives practice tests and uses some of the questions on her tests. Never showed up to class ever and always held us 5 minutes past the end of class.
THIS CLASS HAS A LOT OF INFO AND SHE IS ONE OF THOSE TEACHERS THAT DOESN'T SKIP A THING.HER TESTS ARE VERY CONFUSING IT IS PICK THE "BEST" ANSWER.ALSO,SHE DOES NOT GIVE THE TESTS OR ANYTHING BACK IN A TIMELY MANNER. I THINK IT IS A BIT OF IRRESPONSIBILITY. IT IS A HARD CLASS AND SHE IS KNOWLEDGEABLE BUT FOR A 100 LEVEL CLASS I DONT RECOMMEND HER.
Hitt is an amazing prof. who really cares about her students. She does her best to make sure you grasp the material and is always willing to help. This does not mean the class is easy....she expects alot out of her students and her tests are very challenging. It was a great lecture and I would Recommend her to anyone!
she seems to cover things you dont need to know and theres so much to learn and itas overwhelming. i feel like everything i learned from 7th-12th grade was learned in this class in 4 days
Dr. Hitt is very nice. Yes BIO 111 is a challenging course, but I believe she is covering what she is required to cover. The textbook is excellent, and you can tell she really loves what she is teaching. If you ask questions in class she will take the time to help you. Tests are hard, but not impossible. Go to class and study & You will be fine.
Moves fast, hard to figure out what needs to be understood.
BIO111 involes an unreal amount of information... and maybe thats why I hate this class, but it seems like its not being explained very clearly
Prof. Hitt is a great teacher here at OU. Make sure you read her powerpoints multiple times as well as each chapter. If you follow these simple methods, you'll do great in the class.
Anne tries her hardest to make it interesting, but it's still boring. She's a nice professor, and she does care about her students. Do the homework, read the book, and study for your exams. :)
She might care about her students but that still won't stop her from going on 1/2 hour tangents about fruitflies; something that has very little to do with this course. Her tests are somewhat difficult as they are "pick the best answer", meaning more than one provided is correct. As a bio major, she bored me to death.
surprisingly, even though this prof discussed ALOT of info, i liked her. also, unless you can basically memorize what she says in class or on her powerpoints..you pretty much NEED to read the book, which can be annoying. if you do not study, then her exams will be difficult. but overall, decent professor. you get to keep exams though :)
Not a teacher at all!
READ THIS AND SAVE YOUR TIME READING THROUGH THE PAGES! Horrible...there's just so much I could say.YES I know this college and this intro course covers a lot and takes a lot of work blah blah blaaaaaaaaah. There are better profs.out there that can teach this material better for the students to LEARN! AND I got a 4.0 so that's telling you something!
This teacher is very inteligent in the subject that she teaches, but she does not present the material in a matter that helps students. I found this class extremely hard with the massive amount of material that was given. Be sure to stay on top of things and NOT get behind or passing will be next to impossible
Regretted taking this class immediately. She was very boring which made it hard to pay attention.I studied many hours for this class but did terrible on the tests. Her final was out of order and very confusing. I wouldn't suggest her as a teacher.
terrible
When signing up for classes i looked this teacher up, i saw the poor comments people had about her but ignored them. worst mistake. this class was extremely boring, she talks monotone. when given the final at the end of the semester it was missing 50 questions...super unorganized. dont sacrifice your gpa for her!
Worst, most boring professor I've ever encountered in my life. She definitely knows what shes talking about and tries her best to explain things but she goes off on random tangents and is realllllly boring. Drop her class immediately. The only positive is that her exams are straight forward
OMG THIS TEACHER WAS SO HARD..i have a general interest in bio, and after reading the comments here, i ignored them. let me tell ya, i got a 4.05 gpa in HS with all my bio classes at least 3.8 or above, and I failed this class. you pretty much HAVE to read the book or u will fail. you can not do this class just doing the powerpoints themselves.
she confused the whole class about everything she tried to teach.
VERY hard, do NOT take her, very boring and exams are impossible
I should have paid attention to the ratings. Taking the initiative to learn on your own is one thing, but confusing the class and then testing them based on whether they grasped the concept is ridiculous.
She is an excellent professor, who gives it her all. If more than half the class didn't skip lecture then people would probably do better.
I rarely attended class, never opened my textbook, and I still managed a 2.8. The few times I showed up, I thought she taught very well. She definitely knows what she's doing! Professor Hitt is organized and tries her best to teach a very difficult course. Her exams are rough, but that's because of the material. Overall, she was a good professor.
WORST teacher ever. Her tests are extremely hard. went to take her final and pages were missing and questions were mis-numbered on top of it all. i would say doonntt take her!
She is a very helpful! Ask questions, she will be more then happy to go over the details. Do the connect quizzes because it helps you study for the exams, which are hard but if you study, they shouldn't be. Go to every class, she shows really good examples to help you remember the material. I had her for BIO 111 Summer Sess. 1, the best choice made
She just reads off of powerpoint slides.
For an intro level class professor Hitt is not a good choice. She is used to teaching harder level classes so she goes really in depth on a lot of things that you don't really have to know. She explains a lot of things by using the phrase "it does a lot of stuff" which really ticked me off. I really struggled in this class to get a good grade.
Had hitt for biology of the cell. Very hard topic and she goes into a lot of detain in lecture, but her tests are not bad the multiple choice and fill in the blank are easy and as in-depth as the power point slides (we are talking bullet points so easy) Her essay questions are hard if you try to write but she exempts drawing diagrams which is easy!
If you have to take BIO309, this is the professor to take it with. Trust me, I took it with Studervent and got a 1.2 and took it again with Professor Hitt and got 3.8. Her lectures are interesting and she tells you exactly what is on the tests. Tests are straight forward and are made for students to do well. She cares about her students doing well!
I'll sum it up for ya - Just took my first exam with her and it was one of those tests where ALL of the answers are right but you have to pick the MOST right answer. I was not happy with my grade and even less happy that most of the points I lost were from questions that I had answered right, but not "right enough." Awful. I'm miserable.
this is college. if you don't put in the effort, you will fail. bio 111 is the easiest class i have taken, EVER. don't try and take this class if you feel like the professor is to blame for your mishap. you get what you put in.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!! Honestly, this professor goes too in depth with the material because she is used to teaching higher level courses. Her lectures are soooo utterly boring, i wanted to sleep every time in class. I thought I would be doing fairly well in this course, but I guess not. The teacher really does matter in college, don't take her.
She isn't very fun to listen to, but she gives you extra credit opportunities with learn smart modules. I recommend that you do them, that's how I studied for the exams and I did fairly well. Plus the final was basically questions from old exams (which she gives you the answer keys to)and some new stuff. Not bad at all
Dr, Hitt is an amazing and truly professional teacher. Her knowledge of the material is superb and she know how to explain difficult concepts ina clear concise manner.
She's nice, but says "aaaaaaaaaaaaalllright" and "does that make sense to you guys?????" like in between and after and before every sentence. and she pronounces her words like so clear I was cracking up so hard.. good teacher tho, just study the notes!
Super nice and friendly. Her tests aren't that bad just make you study hard.
She is amazing! If you are not biology major, maybe you should take easier class, but for those who will continue to study biology she is the right choice! Yes she read from PowerPoint, but if you will read by yourself, you will not understand the material! With her notes and explanations it is really easy! Recommend her!
She is awesome! Exams are long but fair and the material on them comes directly out of the lecture power points. There is a lot of memorization but she makes it very clear what she expects on the exams. I definitely recommend!!
Liked the professor. She was quite understanding and seemed willing to teach biology. Her class basically consisted of powerpoints, exams, and tests. She knew what she was talking about. She was loud (in a good way). I'd rate her high on clarity.
I personally like Dr. Hitt. She is a little scatterbrained, but not bad overall. She lectures straight from her powerpoints, which she posts on moodle, but it is expected that you read the book too. Exams are 60 questions long, not hard if you study. The connect quizzes are difficult because they are straight from the book, not her powerpoints.
the worst teacher, if you want to call her that. She reads word for word from power points and does not teach. be prepared to teach yourself everything. tricky questions on tests and extremely vague reviews. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. she does not know what shes doing in school or life. you have been warned
Loved her class. She has a genuine desire to see you do well and is always willing to help. With all of the resources available for learning, there is no excuse for not acing this class. I have to think the bad reviews are from lazy students. Highly recommend Dr. Hitt, and will make sure to take more classes from her.
Loved her! She utilizes all available resources to make sure you know the material. Highly recommend.
