very difficult, exams are very very hard, do not come from homework or notes, she just tries to test you on the hardest problmes. not helpfull-if she doesn't like you (wish is just about everyone). will emberrase you in class. smart lady, but too hard, and I love math!
OMG!!!! RUNNN RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! This woman is insane. She gives no curves even when the class average was 45.5%. Not very helpful and the tests are extremely difficult!
Worst teacher EVER! I tried to meet with her three times outside of class for help and she refused to help me or meet with me. Her tests were not from any notes or from the book. It was completely random. And she doesnt curve the tests at all...class average was 45.5% or so. DO NOT TAKE HER!
When I had her she had a broken foot..hopefully for ur sake she has a borken neck!Didnt learn a damn thing from her.Most of the time we were correcting her for the mistakes she was making while trying to teach us.AVOID HER in classes and in life!She is angry with the world and takes it out on her students!

Terrible teacher and person. Her tests are made to screw her students. This is Math 117!, not advanced Calculus. She deserves to be fired.
I had her for Abstract Algebra, and she was one of my favorite professors ever! I had to work hard but I learned a ton. I thought her lectures were extremely clear and she was always helpful when I had questions. Her strictness kept me challenged and I became a better student for it... Thanks to her, my love of math blossomed!
Looking back on my 4 years of college, Prof. Hupert is easily the worst teacher I have ever had. She makes mathematical errors on the board several times a day, and students have to correct her. She is never available for questions after class and only sees students during office hours. At least her TAs did a better teaching job than she did.
Horrible teacher. ALWAYS makes mistakes on the board. You can't understand her. Has absolutly no clarity. Ended up dropping this class, and fearing Math. No graphing calculators allowed on tests, no cheat sheet. Must memorize EVERY derivative formula and EVERYTHING gone over in class could be on a test. Lectures are clear but it's too much to absorb. I had her over the summer-3hrs/day, 2days/week. I'd recommend Richard Lucas. I sat in his class for the first two days before I realized I had Hupert.
No graphing calculators; tests are not that bad if you study and know all the proofs and definitions; had an A at end of class then took final....way too hard...8 pages long but I think that may be all the calc classes...ended with a B+ and had taken calc before; could have pulled an A if I did better on the final; shes really nice
Does it really matter if she is nice? Her class is unreasonably difficult. No graphic calculator - extremely difficult tests. If you really care about your gpa or if you want to do graduate school, do not take her.
Usually tough grading coincides with good teaching. This is not the case with Hupert. After 3 weeks of listening to her incomprehensible lectures, I just started watching online calculus videos & worked on homework in the back of the class. If you want to learn calculus, don't take her. It's too important to have a poor teacher.
Possibly the worst teacher ever. I took tutoring to just understand her class and she ended up marking things wrong because the work wasn't how she liked it even though the answer was right. She makes mistakes constantly and is happy when the exam average is above a 50. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
She has her own way of doing things and does not like change. It is very annoying to have no calcs in a calc class. the hmwrk is not taken up but there is a quiz or exam every class.
Very Very DIFFICULT. You need prior knowledge of Precalcus to keep up in her class or at least some grasp. Class moves really fast. You get quizzes every week (usually with 1 or 2 probs). WebWork is extra credit. Extremely hard grader.
It is difficult to learn from a professor who is still learning herself. Her tests are unrealistic and the material is not always covered in class. Extremely finicky grader. A lot of outside learning is required in order get through the course. She moves extremely fast but to her credit she is available during office hours.
This class is easy, she basically throws away all the bad scores and gives you extra credit. If you took this class in high school its an easy A. Otherwise I can see how people would struggle. She messes up on the board all the time and tells students to do problems wrong frequently confusing them. My favorite quote was, "don't listen to me"
This instructor constantly made errors on the board and has to be corrected. Her notes are incomprehensible. There is no breakdown of notes. I have done all my homework throughout the year. Another thing is her point value for quizzes and tests are ridiculous! They are just so inflated that if you don't know one question your grade is lost.
I took pre-calculus in high school and did really good because I got a A in that class. When I found out that I had to take Pre-Calc again, I thought it was good because it can raise my GPA, but I ended up being wrong. Hupert is really difficult, she will put the trickiest problems she can think of on the exam. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT TAKE HER
Hupert did a good job teaching if you pay attentionand do the extra-credit homework...her tests are lengthy, but its something that you would get an A on if you study!!! She's a good teacher
Professor Hupert is the bomb. Seriously, I don't understand why some of these ratings are. Had amazing office hours where she taught you everything over again if you wanted, homework was extra credit, quizzes were easy if you did homework, and tests were easy if you did well on quizzes. Best math teacher I've ever had. Her system works.
Don't listen to any of these comments. Hupert is the truth! Her systems is a large failsafe. If you do the homework (which is EC), you do well on the quizzes. Once you do well on the quizzes, you do well on the tests. Its proven. She owns math 131 hands down. Take her and pay attention and take notes / ask questions. She owns!
Don't listen, Hupert is awesome. Crystal clear lectures, quizzes every day, but they are short and if you pay attention in class you shouldn't have a problem. Great teacher, taking her for Calc 162 next semester. Super friendly, super awesome.
Worst teacher ever. I basically taught myself through the book. She tries to trick you with problems and isn't very helpful. If you ask a question she makes you feel dumb for not knowing it. She was very unreasonable with excused abscences, and unreasonable in general.
Dr. Hupert was by far the worst teacher at LUC. She was very demeaning when speaking to her students and although she 'encouraged' questions, she would make you feel incompetent. She never taught material on the homework and when students came in with questions, she would be visibly irritated. Stay away from her.
Professor Hupert is one of my least favorite teachers here at Loyola. The material is not hard and she is present the material in a clear manner however she treats the students with little to no respect. She gives hw every night, quizzes every friday and exams every two weeks that are comprehensive.
The material is pretty easy but i don't really recommend the teacher. If you are good at teaching yourself then go for it otherwise stay away. She is pretty rude to some students. a quiz every friday and an exam every two weeks. if you don't have a choice it won't be HORRIBLE but if you do..just take someone or something else.
She's horrible at explaining problems. Makes mistakes when trying to teach us something new and students correct her. I advise everybody to stay away from her classes if possible.

Dr.Hupert is absolutely the worst teacher I've had. She has no interest in helping students when help is needed, she does not return ANY tests, quizzes, etc etc and does not put any of the grades online so you have NO CLUE how well you are doing in the class. She makes mistakes on almost every problem and students often have to correct her errors.
During the whole of the semester, Hupert stared at me like i was doing something wrong. She constantly makes mistakes on the board and students ALWAYS have to sorrect her. she always says "dont listen to me." shes never available outside class and ridicules students often. homework is extra credit, which is good. otherwise try to avoid her. thanks.

She's not the nicest woman, but this class is super easy. Just do the extra credit homework, go to class occasionally and look interested and you will get an A for sure. Four tests, some quizzes, and a cumulative final. Really smart woman and the lectures are super easy to understand

Terrible terrible teacher. As many have stated she does not care about the students. I asked her once to make an appointment to talk about my grade and she was unwilling to budge from her office hours. She started at me and my friend like she wanted to demolish us. She basically torpedoed our grades. Quiz every friday, not too hard, same with tests
Completely unhelpful. If you didn't understand something she would look at you like it was your fault. Problems on the exams were hard because she would make very difficult questions out of material she had put no prior emphasis on.

she's really helpful in class, i dont know why she has such bad reviews. the Webwork online homework is really stupid, but i guess its better than writing it and handing it in. she goes over questions you dont understand, but does not use the book AT ALL. so you have to attend class to know where you are, other than that , its all good
She wasn't a bad teacher but she was always boring, thus making the class boring. Quizzes every week basically what she goes over in class. Tests are the quizzes with diff. numbers, so they aren't so hard. She is kind of a picky grader, but you turn in hw online. Book is not necessary at all! Pay attention and ask questions and you'll be fine.
Ms. Hupert constantly made mistakes when presenting the course material. She also forgot to put up the homework on WeBWork occasionally. Although she is a nice person, she is approachable, and she promptly returns quizzes and exams, these two flaws really ruined the experience for me.
I don't understand why she has gotten such bad reviews and deemed as unhelpful. I struggled in the beginning but she was happy to help me during her office hours and said to me "I want you to do well, I believe in you". There are daily quizzes which are the same difficulty level as exams. Go to class, do the homework, and you'll get a good grade.

Hupert is very helpful, very clear on what she teaches. There is homework online every night but it is all extra credit but I would reccomend doing it. There is a 10-20 point quiz every day during the last 10 minutes of class. Exams every 3 weeks. The class is very manageable and I would highly reccomend Hupert.

Opinions of her vary greatly. Personally, I thought she was an awesome lady. People don't like her because she doesn't put up with b.s. Hard grader. She's nice and helpful, very knowledgable. She tends to mix up or miscalculate many numbers, so notes can be hard to understand later. But she can teach you a lot, and her office hours are very useful.

Struggled a little at first, but went to office hours and started to do better. Quizzes every class period. Easy tests, but not long (sometimes only 5 questions). Homework is extra credit. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Nice teacher, cares genuinely if you're struggling. If you want a teacher you can go to, take her.
Anne was a great teacher. I took her for Calc 161 and decided to take her again for 162. Yes there is a quiz everyday, however if you keep up with the homework, you will do well. THE TESTS ARE THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE QUIZES. the test is a compilation of the quizzes, just different numbers. She also is extremely helpful if you show her respect.

If you have taken precalc before the class is pretty easy. She gives quizzes daily. But they are doable. Hw is extra credit and she goes over anything confusing at the beginning of class. The tests are the same format as quizzes and easy if you go over the quizzes she hands back and do all the hw. She's a fair grader, I would recommend her. :)
This was my last class at loyola. She doesn't understand that not everyone in the class is a math major. I ran a 3.8 gpa before her but only managed to get a C in this class. She also made unneceptable errors when grading test that could have forced me to take the class again. Very boring.
There is a quiz every class and homework is optional since it counts for extra credit, but you will fail if you do not do it. She can sometimes be a little unclear during her lectures about what she wants as far as answers go, but she is much more clear during office hours. Also, you don't need the textbook.

She takes time at the beginning of class to go over questions on the homework. She is also very helpful when we ask questions. If you ask questions and understand whats happening, its an easy A!

You need to go to class to pass because she gives quizzes daily. Only drops the 3 lowest scores. I would not recommend her because you have to stay on top of everything and its hard if you have two science classes. On the good side her exams are just like the quizzes to review the quizzes before the exam. Also she comes off a bit mean.
She knows exactly how to prepare students for high level math courses. And I would definitely recommend her. If you have a hard time with math, try her class and you will understand it better if not completely. Just be ready for a quiz every class,which is not as bad as it sounds as they are fairly easy. Plus her exams are just like the quizzes.
There are students that like her style, and ones that don't. Her grading styling is generally all or nothing for credit unless there are clearly marked letters showing a problem has multiple parts. She does not post grades online but rather, you must email her to retrieve them from her home PC. She doesn't give review time for exams or study guides

THERE ARE QUIZZES EVERY CLASS PERIOD. She drops the 3 lowest scores. Try to do the homework because its extra credit and it will make up for your quiz scores. The test is like the quizzes, so just study off the quizzes and you will pass the exams. She drops the lowest exam but not the final. Do not buy the textbook because she does not follow it.

Prof Hupert is the reason I'm not scared of math anymore. Her lectures were so clear and she provided so many resources to do well in the class. I started studying for exams 1-2 days before and never got anything lower than a B. Very fair teacher, the quizzes don't count much because homework is 10% E.C. and the quizzes are 10%.. I have never been so disappointed with a teacher throughout my education, she didn't show up to class for three weeks and the sub she left for us wasn't any better. Hupert's class should be easy enough to pass. She's fast in class but if YOU put in effort to see her in office hours you should be fine. There is a quiz after every class which help show where you need to practice. Extra Credit homework also helps a lot both in points and practice.
Awesome professor. Her lectures were clear and the tests look a lot like the homework. Show up to class and do the homework and you will do well.
Decent for a math professor. There were daily quizzes based on the extra credit homework due the night before, so if you do those you'll easily pass. 4 exams which are all just questions from the quizzes. Final is cumulative and mandatory hw is due only before the final. Teaches what's she's supposed to with little examples unless asked to do so.

The material can be hard because you have to know a lot of definitions. I made flash cards which helped me a lot in the end. Go to office hours and get questions answered before exams. She sometimes makes errors so be sure to check her math on grading.

The homework doesnt correspond with anything we learn in class and she makes mistakes all the time while teaching. She doesnt email students back and rushes you during her office hours. Mediocre math professor. Exams are pretty much made up from previous quizzes. Would take her again if it was the only option available. Kind of cranky, not very approachable. Homework does not coordinate with material at all, but you should definitely do it for extra credit because it raises your grade at the end of the semester. Overall not bad.
Professor Hupert is a fantastic choice for a math class. You get daily quizzes, but they really help you grasp the material you are not understanding. Her tests are not that bad but do require studying. She is extremely helpful during her office hours and will slow things down for you. She asks if students have any questions on the homework.
I had Dr. Hupert for 201 & again for 313 abstract algebra. The class was a nearly identical structure to 201 (10% daily homework, 20%*3 exams, 30% final) w/ a pretty manageable workload taken at a decent pace. The content is pretty dense but still workable. Overall would recommend if you put in the work it takes to master the content.
This professor is very rude and not very clear with her instructions. Shes is old and stops to breathe a lot. Quizzes are every class and be prepared to not get 100% every time. Also make sure you listen for your name at the beginning of class or else she will get pissed
Hupert makes mistakes during lectures and exams frequently. She likes to go off on tangents about random things and usually runs out of breath while teaching. HW and quizzes every day are annoying. Definitions and grammar are important to remember even though this is a math class. Class material is easy, but you have to teach yourself most of it.
Hupert is non-tech savvy, lectures very fast, and gives daily quizzes. Homework is given over wiley-plus and struggles to follow the themes of what was taught the previous class.
trust me don't sign up for her class. One thing I hate about her is that she uploads Wiley plus Homeworks the night before the class so I won't be able to complete it. And that really affected my grade. Second thing is that she gives a quiz every day at the end of class which is fine but if you miss a class she will give you zero.

I have never in my life had a teacher that is as condescending, rude, and downright disrespectful as she is. I am baffled at the fact that some people have given her above a 2. There is a reason she has such a low rating. I have NEVER had a professor so unwilling to help like Dr. Hupert. On multiple occasions, people have asked her for specific questions related to past topics and she has completely shut them down. I honestly don't know how she has her job still.. do yourself a favor and DO NOT Take her class!

The class itself was difficult, but not impossible. Hupert discourages students from working with each other, which really sucked. The tests and some of the material can be difficult, but there's a large curve at the end of the semester that really helps.
