This class is very relax, she is great and really gets to know your name and what's going on in your life. She is cool. The class is manageble. You can study for the test through the worksheets she gives and lectures.
she's such a cool person! funny and intersesting and she's really good at what she does! If you need to get this class done for generals, take her!
Consumer Econ is a breeze. super laid back class, not much homework. tests and lecture are straight from book. she's a fun teacher who is cool with having a good time and getting thru material.
She is an awesome teacher, takes alot of time to get to know her students. Has alot of time out of class to help out. Not that hard, homework every week and the tests are not the easiest. If you do the homework and study its a breeze.
not always clear on what she is talking about. This leaves some test material a suprise.
I guess if you're shooting for an A, you gotta get her to notice you; go ask her a question, bug her about clarifying, etc. Easy going, not a stressful class; Can get by with a B, but just showing up, and once in a while one-on-one contact
The kind of class you can skip completely and not miss anything. Just get the hw and tests in- she posts her slides online. If you attend regularly, she talks about a lot of off-topic things and allows students to carry on loud private convos in class. Can be easy to fluster. Nice lady, though.
I didn't care for her. She wasn't always clear in her lectures and she clearly favored some students. She was not the most organized or professional prof. plus she smells funny!
The class was extremely easy, partly because it's common sense material, and partly because she goes over everything. She's friendly, helpful, and likes to talk about current events.
Very good, will relate to actual events happining now days...just need to brush up on the book evry once and a while
The material was easy to understand and the homework and tests were not really that difficult. It was a fun class and I was still able to learn a lot. Ryan-Guest made the class enjoyable. I don't like economics, but it was the class that I enjoyed going to the most!
Very little studying will go a long way. Easy class to ace but it is also easy to disregard this class and not study. This will result in lower grades.
Anne-Marie is funny but the way lectures were presented was a little boring for me. She's nice but she explains everything super fast. It could be because I took a night class though. Homework and tests are easy.
loved the class . .shes funny, nice, and easy. you pretty much waste half of every class talking about "consumer issues" aka your random life problems . .very fun
she is helpful and has good examples. If you work hard you will get a good grade. Does not offer extra credit though.
Very clear about expectations. Problems on test mimic those in homework. Substantial portion of grade comes from homework. Work spread evenly throughout semester. Final not cumulative! Makes a good attempt to relate textbook concepts to current events. Biggest complaint: class was a little too much like high school - lacked discipline and rigor.
bad experience
She is a nice teacher! She tries to make class less stressful by making something fun and also those are example of lecture. She helps student by anything she can.
Terrible experience, the class could not stay on task and the teacher was the one that welcomed it! I didn't care to hear about everyones life stories. DO YOUR HOMEWORK, and I wouldn't even bother with buying the book, never gets used...buy a cheaper one. I felt like I was back in high school, hated it!
Would take another class from her.
worst class i have ever taken
worst teacher i have ever had. Please do yourself a favor and run from this class.
I loved this class. I thought she did a great job of making the class interesting and keeping everyone involved. The class wasn't difficult at all, but I still learned a lot!
You can't reason with her b/c she's incredibly stubborn, and her grading system SUCKS! She's very picky on every tiny mistake on assignment; and no chance to make up points whatsoever. It's sad really that nobody seem interested throughout the entire course. Remember, your life is valuable, don't waste time with her...
She is very straight forward about the material. Easy understand and made me like the subject, highly recommended!!!
Makes the material easy to understand, has a sense of humor, and is willing to answer questions to help you understand
AVOID this professor. I took her class over a summer and got NOTHING out of it. The majority of the time she spent either graphing, complaining about gas prices and talking baseball. She is very easy to push off subject and doesn't cover the material that is required very effectively.
Great teacher! took her this summer and was very satisfied. she is not boring and makes the material clear to understand. very helpful and although the class was very short I took a lot out of it. Highly recommended!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! She knows the material and explains it very well. She was very approachable for questions and held review classes for upcoming tests. Homework is light. Tight and fair grading criteria. You really can?t fail if you are paying attention.
Awesome teacher! Very helpful and interested in every student succeeding. Always available outside of class if needed. I would take this class again, or any other that she offered!
The worst of the worst teacher I ever had.
Very interested in helping students! Her tests are easy and you get to use a full notecard on the final. Go to class and ask questions on your homework so she will give you the correct answers. Homework was a big grade so be sure it is correct! She takes questions right off of the homework too and from the book summaries! EASY AND NICE!
Microeconomics is the hardest class I have ever had... but Anne-Marie is an amzing teacher. She really loves her students and loves teaching. She really wants students to get it. She is great. I am going to take her again for Macro-for sure!
Anne-Marie is very nice and experience teacher. Her assignments are very straight forward, and understandable. I had her Macroeconomic in Spring-2011 and I did well. If you do the homework and come to the class regularly, then you will get fair grade. Let me mention, she is very helpful professor. I will highly recommend this Great professor.
The instructor gives the material in disorganized way. Her lectures are hectic, so taking an on-line class with her might be an option. Don't buy the latest addition of the book you wouldn't use it. In over all I feel like I wasted my time and money, and learned very little in this class.
Very helpful, involved teacher. Really takes time to explain the material, and clearly lays out the course work. Highly recomended.
Classes aren't too bad! Just show up to class, get all of the notes, study, and you should be fine! The class was enjoyable and I learned a lot of information that I can apply to the real world.
I barely survived boring lectures that are slow and don't cover the material. The instructor is not nice and at times can tell her mean opinions about you. I wish I took on-line class or with a different instructor. Bad experience that rear at NCC.
Very nice, friendly, and clear. Lectures are straightforward. Homework assignments and tests match the lectures and are both easy. Don't know what the negative reviewers are talking about...Oh, and don't buy the book. I never bought it and I easily got an A. Highly recommended overall.
Anne-Marie is extremely helpful. If you put in the effort, she is more than happy to help. She will answer all of your questions and try to break the material down until it is understood. Highly recommended!
One of the best teachers I ever had! I never used my text book once in 2 classes (micro and macro econ) because she gives notes so well. She does not teach while you are writing notes, so you can concentrate on one thing at a time. She is very knowledgeable and answers all questions clearly. I highly recommend her!
Best teacher I've had yet at Normandale! The lectures are so clear you don't need to read the book. As long as you do the homeworks, show up for class and pay attention, you can pass easily. Overall great teacher and is very knowledge with what she teaches. Id HIGHLY reccomend!!!
Anne Marie is the kind of teacher that is hard to find. She spends time making sure her material makes sense and can actually be related to your life. When she gives you homework she gives you plenty of time to do it so as if you have any questions you can get her help. Anne Marie also indulges requests students have about test or material review.
Honestly take her. Took her for MACRO and going to take her next semester for MICRO. No need to read your book. Notes are clear and stay true to tests. She gives one week on homework and any questions she will answer. If you do not get 100% on your homework it is 100% your fault. TAKE HER
Don't even bother looking at all the other comments I Will tell you erathin. Soo easy, if your looking for a class that Will fulfill a goal and you don't even have to show up, this is for you. Simply sit through lectures and tell stories about your life and what you've bought recently. Consumer econ is a joke.
She's straight forward all her test are in the same format so after the first one you know what to expect. Go to her office she will literally do the homework for you she likes ppl who show drive. Dont expect her to boost your grade though you get what you earn I got an A but I worked my but off its not an easy class but she's the right teacher
Her lessons are straight out of the book. If you read the book, you don't need to go to class, If you go to class, you don't need to read the book. There are points for attending class though, so you should at least do that. Good teacher, but I would've liked to see her give more of her own perspective, rather than just reciting the textbook.
Points for attendance. Notes in class are from textbook. Don't really need textbook. Tests are okay, need to study! No cheat sheet. Turn hw in early so if you have a problem wrong she will let you fix it! Gives you a week to do hw. No fix schedule. Class gets annoying sometimes though. She's really nice but wastes time w/ unnecessary thinking.
I took this over the summer and it was awesome. BEST TEACHER EVER. You don't need the book if you go to class. I went to class, did my homework (easy), failed every test and still got an A. She's amazing, super nice and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMEND!
Professor Ryan-Guest is a caring, intelligent and dedicated professor. She was always in her office hours and she went out of her way to make sure I succeeded in the class. She is knowledgeable is her field and I would recommend her. Attend every class, do the homework ahead of time and read the book are the essentials to succeeding in the class.
Attending class isn't "mandatory" but highly suggested. She gives half a point each day for attendance, which adds up. Being in class does not go by fast, but the time spent in the class room is enjoyable. As long as you pay attention and take thorough notes, you are sure to be successful. The textbook is good for studying, but not necessary.
Super funny and nice. Very clear on what she expects. No need for the book, and tests are reasonable. Definitely not an "easy A" though. I worked hard to get a B. Would recommend.
She is very clear and great at teaching. Very helpful and really wants her students to grasp the material. Very little textbook use. She has notes that she goes through in class that we just write down. Tests were difficult but not if you studied. I highly recommend this teacher!
Ann-Marie is an awesome lady! She is super outgoing and class is never boring. Her lecture notes are straight from the book. Test questions are straight from the "Practice Problems" at the end of each chapter in the book. She is interested in her students and enjoys laughing and making jokes during class. highly recommend!
Several-easy-homeworks.-3-big-exams.-Exams-make-or-break-the-grade,-so-study.-Class-time-is-surprisingly-fun!
Anne-Marie is a wonderful teacher. I thought this class was straight-forward. Her expectations are clearly laid out on the syllabus. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get points for it. Either attend class or read the book to understand the material. Study for the exams to do well and turn in homework. Also, don't turn it in late.
Class time has no structure and is often wasted, which sucks because attendance IS required. Takes points away for the silliest things. Easy to get a B and requires more effort for an A. Late work can ruin your grade.
Class isn't mandatory, but you do get easy points by just showing up. If you need help understanding the subject, she is more than willing to go over it with you. I barely looked at my book, since she just summarized it when we took notes. I would definitely recommend her to others and would take more of her classes!
inspirational, gives great feedback, values all students (knows everyone by name by the first day) able to go off track but stay on schedule. Love her (as a teacher)
I don't understand why she has amazing reviews. Her class is very difficult and she gets irritated when you ask for help. She deducts points for silly things. I don't recommend her.
I took her last semester. Sure, she takes some points away for small things, but it shouldn't hurt you overall. She basically guides you through the book. Just take her notes and be prepared for class. I rarely did any studying and gained an easy A. She also gives away some extra credit points here and there, including some on the tests.
Nice, somewhat hard class. Struggling to get a C
Macro is a hard class because it uses tables and numbers along with vocabulary and concepts. It was hard to understand everything, but she can help a lot! She is a very nice and funny prof and you will enjoy the class! Use your resources when you dont understand stuff. Go to the tutoring center for Ms. Lindell's study sessions and Anne-Marie.
Ann Marie is a great teacher! I learned a lot in her class and found that if you pay attention and take notes in class you will be set. She is a great professor who cares about her students and made class very fun and entertaining. The class was a little tricky but listening in class, and asking questions will make all the difference in passing!
I love Anne-Marie! She is very knowledgeable with the subject she is teaching and is always willing to help out anyone who asks for help. She makes economics more interesting! But she does take away points for small things, so make sure that you are always labeling your graphs! Tests weren't too hard, but definitely make you think!
She was amazing! Lectures were clear and fun. She was always willing to go over the homework before handing it in, just send it to her or ask her after class. It was more important to her that you understood the material than that you do the homework without any help. She gives points for attending, so those are easy, and also for extra credit.
I took a missions trip in the spring and she was very gracious with helping me make up the work I missed while gone. In the beginning of the semester she tried to make our quizzes be on some secure browser that did not work on my chromebook and just gave me a zero though, so that sucked.
Great prof, points are points so do the hw. Very helpful, lectures are everything but boring. If you can take MAC or MIC at Normandale, take her!
I would strongly recommend her to anyone. She is very clear and her notes are very close to the test. I asked her questions during office hours that really helped me understand the homework and course material. I would've took her class for macro and micro but I didn't know about her before having her for macro. If you want a A take her.
Anne is an amazing Professor. If you need help she will make the time for you. Responds to emails & all questions. Organized & clear material & expectations. Dont really need the book, study the notes & you will do fine. If you dont understand something just ask her, she has the patience to explain everything until you understand it.
First two tests were a breeze, last two tests I had to work for. She's super nice and helpful, but I didn't love all the in class group work and she did take away points for some small things. Other than that she's definitely one of the better economics professors. I would take again.
An amazing teacher. She is hilarious and tells lots of stories. But you definitely use the textbook every week. There is a weekly quiz that is 5 questions. Also you lose points if you don't go to class. But this is still an awesome teacher.
She was very nice, but I did not like her teaching style. Her lectures were really boring and I really had to work for my grade to keep an A. Because I it was tough to engage in her lectures, I did a lot of outside reading and really tried to stay focused.
Rude, and hard to learn from personally. If you understand econ then she's a decent teacher but if you don't naturally understand econ good luck. She made a difficult class even harder. Even with doing homework and studying, this class is impossible. She's disrespectful.
Anne was an awesome professor. She keeps you interested in her lectures and has a good sense of humor. Took her summer course and everything was very fast pace but fairly to follow. She normally gives a hw assignment, an in class group assignment and then a group quiz before you take the exam. The exams are fairly easy if you study the lectures.
I really liked Anne-Marie. She has a good sense of humor and her class examples are funny! I would say I don't usually study and while I had to because the concepts confused me I didn't have an overload of homework tying me down. She's helpful and is more than willing to answer questions.
Overall a good professor. Explained things well in class, gave homework that complemented her lectures and reinforced what she was talking about. Tests were fairly easy. Class average was generally a B to B+
She is super funny and her lectures are easy to understand and relatable.
She is a great professor!! Literally take her. She explains everything and grades fairly. Gives great feedback and helps you understand anything you don't. Take advantage of EC! They make a huge difference.
Anne-marie is an amazing professor. Truly amazing! She learns names within the first week of class and will actually use your name in class. She is hilarious and helps you to understand econ using real world examples and relatable experiences. Attendance is absolutely necessary in this class, but you will probably not use your textbook.
Anne-Marie was possibly one of the worst teachers I've encountered. I didn't understand half the things she discussed she talked as if we all have devoted our lives to economics like her. She didn't go through the notes and textbook or simplify it making it harder to understand. She went off topic way too much and jumped from subject to subject.
Used lots of real world examples to illustrate concepts we were learning in class, was always willing to answer questions, and was very clear on what to expect on tests and quizzes. Great professor. If you have to take Econ I would highly recommend her!
She is exceptional at creating a comfortable atmosphere in the classroom. She also asks us what would help us most; "do you want all of the course materials on d2l now or as we go along?" She shows up 10 min early everyday to look over and help with homework and she gives great feedback, making it easy to get a good grade if you put in the effort.
She's a fantastic teacher. Very good at explaining things and answering questions. She's also hilarious. Very clear with what will be on the tests. Assignments are pretty easy. Study and participate in class and it will go well for you.
She was really nice and really cared about what she was teaching .
It is a very difficult class. If you are not prepared to spend lots of time studying don't bother taking her class
The tests are super hard. A lot of multiple choice is random and isn't even from the notes. If she used an example problem in class it'll be 2 times more confusing on the test.
She is a great teacher with a wonderful personality. She helps you when you dont understand material. Loves office hour visits (which helps in the long run). She loves to joke around but also love what she teaches and wants you to learn. Go to class, this isnt a class to skip. Plus lectures are fun, depending on the day.
She makes sure the class understands the content before moving on. She's a hilarious teacher and makes the class very enjoyable. She gives little homework. I recommend doing the homework and turning it in before the due date because she'll check it and let you fix whatever is wrong before grading it.
She is extremely helpful when asking questions. The tests are hard but she is very open to helping students. Some group projects/group work which got annoying but its not bad.
Love love love the professor. She is super kind and helpful and is even cheery to see you in the hallway. The class is difficult, and make sure you study for the tests because they make up a good chunk of your grade.
There is a quiz each week on a specific chapter. You have 15 mins to take each of them. The professor is great and a nice lady. She really knows what she is talking about.
Currently taking Macroeconomics with Anne-Marie, she is very sweet. Each class is mostly all lectures, at times they are fun but she moves very quickly and many of my classmates including myself get lost. The math isn't to bad, but the multiple choice on her exams is terribly difficult. Don't take this class if you don't have time to do the reading
Loved Anne-Marie! Super hilarious, and her lectures were easy to follow and always helped me understand the material better. I recommend reading the textbook even though her lectures cover most everything you need to know. Definitely one of my favorite professors! Super down to earth and had a ton of fun stories to share during lectures.
She very clearly lays out the grading criteria and will tell you exactly what is on the tests. Economics can be a bit boring at times, but she always keeps the lectures fun and engaging. While attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, if you don't go to class you will struggle with the class. She does a great job of preparing you for tests.
Awesome teaching style - very interactive. Took for micro & macro. Not my strong area but if you ask for help she will do everything she can to help you. Respect her and respect is given. Fun class - always keeps discussion interesting.
Didnt feel like anything we did in class prepared me for the tests. The class was just random conversations with the teacher and students. I feel like I would have had the same grade if I showed up half the time that I did.
Her classes are lecture heavy, but she makes it fun and interesting. I highly recommend doing the textbook practice problems, and pay attention to the examples she presents in class. Shes super helpful so dont be afraid to ask questions!
Awesome person to be honest. She helps you if you need it. Very approachable. Clear on what she expects of you and provides effective feedback on homework/ tests. Definitely would take Macro from her. Very structured and clear notes/lessons. Pay attention and take notes and you'll be good
Great teacher, she did her best to make a mediocre subject interesting. You do have to pay attention for the most part, but as long as you do your work and take notes the test isnt too hard. Would definitely recommend
Great professor makes class enjoyable and really cares about the students and their understanding of the topic.
Amazing professor! Econ can get confusing, but she does a really good job at simplifying the content. I highly recommend studying the textbook practice problems because theyre really similar to the questions given on the exam. Overall, my experience in the class was phenomenal!
Anne-Marie is an amazing professor. She posts the lecture notes online ahead of time, so you can print them out and just follow along if you want. Even if you don't need any econ credit, I highly recommend you take her class. She's a great prof.
For this class you have a 5 point online quiz due every Sunday based on one chapter in the textbook. You also have about one worksheet (easy) each week. And then you have tests that are all matching, multiple choice, and a problem on the back that's easy. She is really caring and makes sure everyone understands a concept. I highly recommend.
Overall balanced class. Go to class, pay attention and take good notes. She does a great job keeping everyone engaged and clearly cares about her students. Highly recommended!
Any econ class will be difficult, nothing unusual about that. She does a good job explaining things as long as you take notes and ask questions you should be able to pass
Anne-Marie is a great teacher who genuinely cares about the success of her students. She is more than willing to help, as long as you ask for it. Her class was very straight-forward. Every math or graph related questions that are on the test were pointed out. You knew exactly what to expect on the test. I would 10/10 take her class again.
Very understanding, caring, and a good teacher. Missed class because I got into a crash and the first thing she asked was if I was okay and said to come to class whenever I'm ready to get back on the road. Would recommend.
She's pretty personable. If you like instructors who talk with students a lot, she's a good choice. Her lectures are long, but helpful if you listen. I never paid attention in class, didn't read the textbook, and still got a B. I definitely found it difficult, but it's doable. Skipping class is an awful idea. Group work, quizzes, etc. almost daily.
Shes a decent professor and has a good understanding of Macroeconomics, but shes not very approachable to most students. She makes you feel stupid if you ask any question, in class or out. Her tests are fair, her lectures are boring, and missing class is a big mistake (lots of in-class work). Overall, this class is okay at best.
Overall, she was a decent prof, but her classes are mandatory and lecture heavy, which can work for some, but definitely not for others. She mostly reads from her lecture slides, not giving much depth of information to the content, which makes her tests very hard. Also, she is very unapproachable and only answers questions from her fav students.
This teacher by far is the worst I have ever taken at Normandale. She doesnt seem like shes willing to help her students. Her multiple choice tests were beyond horrible and didnt seem like they were discussed in class. I wouldnt recommend this class to anyone!
Anne-Marie is such a caring and kind professor! Whenever I see her outside of class we always wave to each other. Her lectures are interesting and fairly straightforward. She clearly explains what problems and concepts will be on the test and if you put some time into studying the tests will be easy.
Very nice woman!!! I personally do not like the subject of econ but lectures were always interesting and you will pass the tests (most of her grade) if you just review and study! Take notes and actually try on her online quizzes because they really add up in the grade book overtime! If you need an econ credit shes a cool teacher
people generally struggle in econ classes but this prof made it very easy to understand & apply to the real world. I was genuinely interested in the course material and looked forward to class. The tests are difficult but if you study and pay attention in class you'll do fine. I never read the book & studied just the review materials for tests.
I had this professor for this class and Econ 2202 and it was a blast! One of the best professors to have for an Econ class. She was very helpful and kind to all students.
Yikes. She's very hands off and has no empathy for students. During the semester, my dad suddenly passed away the day before an exam. I let her know immediately and asked for an extension for the exam but she did not allow for the extension. During the Covid-19 crisis, she did not offer to help students and instead crammed the course material in.
This professor was great and super caring. She gave us a supportive learning environment and made the content more interesting. She seems to really care about her students and wants everyone to do well. Her class was a good mix of lectures and group work which helped my understanding of the content. Overall, she was a really great professor.
Very nice professor! clear lectures! a little homework which are all easy. ( for the semester there were only 7 hw). Always is ready to help if you did not understand any lecture/chapter/hw. Be ready to do everything on time!
Took her micro economics class and found it to be pretty easy. Really straightforward class and she is very entertaining
Wonderful.
I was going into Econ expecting to hate it, but Anne-Marie made it very enjoyable. She was very open to re-explaining things (or having classmates explain things to get another perspective), and her feedback was very helpful. Her grading is heavily weighted towards the exams, but she dropped the lowest of the 5. Overall I really liked the class.
Online class, your all alone and never talked to the teacher or classmates. Heavy lectures and if you don't understand it your done for. All work is in a platform called Smartwork and you have to get 100 in every single question if you want a good grade. Quiz every week and exams which are very important that you pass. Textbook is the only resource
She was great, understanding, and respectful. I recommend. (keep in mind my course was online due to covid I'm not sure about her in person)
Anne-Maries econ class was a very challenging one. She is always willing to help if needed (in an online class setting) and obviously knows a lot about economics. The biggest issue is theres a lot of material and if you struggle with any aspect of it you will not pass. Definitely use textbook to pass, exams are a huge part dont mess up on thoses
I don't like the Smartwork platform we use for homework. It is not easy to navigate like Cengage that I'm used to. Exams and Quizzes are on D2L not smartwork. You can't work ahead. Positives there are no discussions. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride
She is a very nice teacher and if you have questions about anything she would be gladly to explain.
There is smart work and quizzes every week. The exams are HARD. If you click an answer, you can't go back which is bs. If you fail and exam, you are done for. The exams weigh a whole lot. I went from having an A to a B because I got a 70 on the exam. There are 4 exams and 13 quizzes total. If you don't understand the work, you are screwed.
Everything in this class is extremely forward. I struggled at the beginning of the semester. Make sure that you go to class because the lectures are where the learning happens. There are questions in the back of the textbook that are useful, but some of them are wrong. If you pay attention in class you will know exactly what to do on the test.
really nice teacher, ask question if needed and she will help you
Professor seems really nice but as a person who struggles with math, it was not the class for me. You must watch the lectures in addition to reading the textbook to understand. 4 exams and a comp final. Quiz every week and 4 assignments throughout the semester. If you like math and understand econ, take it. If you don't, good luck.
She was by far one of the most easy-going, understanding, and enjoyable professors I had at Normandale. Some of my favorite things about her, is that she is always willing to answer students' questions and went lengths to help students understand key concepts in class. Outside of class I only really had to study maybe for an hour or two for tests.
it was really easy. homework and quiz due every week, and each quiz has 2 tries in case of any mistakes in the previous ones. The tests were the same as the quizzes and homework, so no funny business. easy A. she does an extra test at the end if you missed a previous test, or if you want to improve one of the tests done.
Ms. Ryan-Guest tries her best to share the information. There is one lecture, homework assignment, and quiz each week. There are 4 exams, and 1 comp final that is optional. The work isn't hard and she gives resources but they often do not correlate with the homework, and quizzes. She was a great professor nevertheless.
very good professor. took her macro class, had classes 2x a week. so nice, really made class fun and calming. 4 exams. she teaches the chapters in class and you have the textbook to take your own notes. quizzes for each chapter. pay attention in class and take notes and you will do great. never studied and still got an A. great teacher, loved her!
a super fun and confident teacher, absolutely would take her classes again. she knows her stuff but understands that not everyone is an econ major and just wants to make sure you know what you absolutely need. there are 6 tests and the lowest two are dropped, lots of extra credit too. If you put in the work you will do very well in the class.
I did her online econ class and it was great! It was just 1 video to watch and notes, then 1 homework assignment, and then 1 short quiz EVERY WEEK! The work load was very manageable! She always responded to emails in a timely manner. Met her once in person and she is genuinely such a nice person and a great professor! She is flexible, but fair.
As someone who got a D in High school Econ, Ryan - Guest is a fantastic instructor, she genuinely wants you to understand economics concepts and has clear and precise explanations with real world examples for what she talks about. There is a decent amount of reading for the class but it's manageable. Tough but fair Exams.(My B was my own fault.)
Do not read the chapter each week, it is a waste of time. Does Smartwork assignments each week and they are quite awful. Chegg has the answers to about everything in this class, including the tests and weekly quizzes. She doesn't let you work ahead.
Professor Ryan-Guest is a sweet, caring person, but her class wasn't always the easiest. Each week, there was a chapter to read, homework, and a quiz. There were also optional lectures to watch (that weren't always the most helpful). I personally think her class was quite difficult, and I had to spend extra time trying to understand the concepts.
During her lectures, she clearly explains the material. You can replace a low exam with Smartwork "which is 10 questions per chp and 3 tries per question"; You can ALSO replace a low or missed exam with the final which is an OPTIONAL exam. She brings in an array of fun examples, like the economics of Beyonce. 20/10 recommend her class!!
Really nice and consistent class!! She was very nice
Professor Ryan-Guest explains concepts clearly. The workload is manageable, with weekly assignments and quizzes. unstuck ai was a great study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a challenging but rewarding class.
Thumbs down
Class was very manageable and the final exam is optional. You only have to take it if you want to replace a previous bad test score.
AnneMarie is a pretty average teacher. The tests were a tougher mainly the multiple choice. The tests have matching, multiple choice and a written out problem that she makes clear what it'll be ahead of time. The final is cumulative & optional. If taken in person attendance matter cuz she'll do in class work thats graded. B is very manageable
Honestly one of my easiest classes. All of the answers can be found on Quizlet or Chegg. She drops your 2 worst quizzes and homework and your worst exam! The final is optional. The worst thing about this class would be the occasional spelling mistakes that confused the questions. Overall 10/10 would recommend.
There is smartwork and a ten-question quiz due every week and an exam every 3-4 weeks. Two quiz scores are dropped and so are some of your smartwork scores. The comp final is optional as long as you don't miss the previous four exams. Lecture videos were really helpful. Make sure to stay on top of things and take notes and you'll score well
Graded by 4 exams and comp final. However, if you do bad on one test and do the smart work(extra credit problems for each chapter) that percentage can replace your worst test grade and you don't have to take the comp final. Her teaching style makes microecon comprehendible and you're allowed a notecard to use for each test if you take her inperson
Just don't
All I did the whole semester was watch the lecture vids, do the assignments then study a day before the exams. She hints at what's gonna be on the exam(s) earlier if you pay attention. 2 mind tap assignments and quizzes are dropped by the end of the sem. My class's average for exams seems to be pretty low, but I think it was a pretty good class!
this professor's class made me question my self worth. Do not take unless you have an understanding of econ already or else you'll loose sleep.
You'll pull your hair out if there are other classes you're trying to balance along with this one.
We were given no time to learn the curriculum for exams 1 and 4. Someone else taught the class for exam 1, and 3-4 days were given to learn the unit for exam 4. The in-class changes to the material were not posted or given if requested.
Not a bad person by any means but in my opinion does a very poor job at explaining concepts. Homework assignments with graphs are very confusing. Don't take if you aren't willing to teach yourself to material. Had to start using a different professors lessons to pass. Class average for every exam was never higher than a C.
The class workload is manageable but the issue comes with the exams, which are nothing like any of the assignments we did. Also, all of her exams are proctored and have a time limit. The class averages on the exams are in the 60% and she gives nothing to change that grade. When I emailed her to ask for help, I got very little useful feedback.
