She doesn't explain things well at all!!
Very laid back but can spaz at times, she gets scared to give quizzes sometimes cause not much of the class can keep up with her. She also doesn't respond to questions very well.
This class tought by her is very frustrating. Her quizzes are VERY VERY HARD!!!!!!!!!!!! doesn't explain the material enough to understand. It's like worrying for 4 months if you'll pass with a C.
She is very hard to understand and extremely impatent. She expects you to learn the subject on your own. She does not want to teach you anything unless you ask. Then when you ask she is rude and mean and my very well tell you that you are stupid.
She Sucks and doesn't know what the hell she is doing.
If you people would listen, she structures her class to fit those who are not mathematically inclined. In other words, if you suck at math you can still pass w/ a B at the very least. all you have to do is show up like a good little boy or girl and quit your whining.
She is horriable teacher. After every test if you go on blackboard you can see that most of the students have failed. Now you tell me if that is a good thing. At 8 weeks i had already recieved 54%. RUN THE OTHER WAY!
I felt she was a good teacher. Although the class I had with her was an online course, it was fairly easy. I got a B.
She was agood teacher. You need to actually do your homework but if you do you will pass with ease. I like math but have always had a hard time actually learning it. She was the first teacher would I actually understood. She always helped when I needed it. I had a computerized class and I switched into her class 5 weeks through the semester and I still passed with a B. I highly suggest her.
because of this class, i never will take an online class again
she has a heavy (polish?) accent so it's very difficult to understand wahat she's talking about. if you have a hard time in math in general then she will make is even harder on you. she have a weird sense of humor, but she can be pretty mean!!!
Hard to follow and messes up on notes. Cannot do simple math and frequently does addition wrong.
She is confusing, hard to follow and i hated her setup for the online course.I do not get math very well and her "helpful hints" were not very helpful.
worst class ever, couldn't understand her and don't think she liked me. does not respond well to e-mail and she is still screwing me over on dropping the class.
Martinic somehow always manages to find a way to make calculus worse. Her class is ridiculous. She constantly screws up notes and is incredibly unclear on assignments. She'll hand you a Ch. 3 test with half the problems from Ch. 1. No assignment guide or any hint on what homework to actually do. Makes a hard class that much harder.
She is an absolutely horrible teacher. She constantly messes up and when the class points out her mistakes, she argues when she is wrong and is very mean about it. She is a very cold hearted person. She is the worst teacher I've ever had. I can't think of one redeeming quality about her. Stay away...
I could NOT stand her. Not only is she SUPER picky with tests but with everything!!! I made the smallest mistake on the last step of a problem and i got 2 pts out of 10!! she frustrates others and can be very harsh with grading. Yes she means well, and if you study everyday and keep up, she will LOVE you. Have this instructor at your own risk...
I was very surprised to find that Anne Martincic had a low score when I found her (1.8), I find her to be a helpful, intelligent, and competent teacher. In my experience Any teacher that loves his or her job has always been a better teach than one who doesn't, and I would gladly reccomend Martincic for these reasons and more.
Terrible teacher. Can't understand her with her heavy accent. Makes mistakes all the time and blames it on class that we didn't "stop her or prevent her" from making a mistake. This lady is crazy. She goes on her own little rants that aren't relevant to class. Plan on teaching yourself! Doesn't like it when kids don't understand and ask questions.
This teacher is terriable. She is always make mistakes on the board and then she apologizes for 5 minutes straight. Calculus would not be completely challanging if it was not for the teacher. You can understand what she is saying through her heavy accent and mumbling. To bad she is the only teacher that teaches Calculus.
I usualy get along very well with teachers but she made it extremely difficult. She left very little room in the classroom for enthusiasm and would belittle you if you could not do a problem. I suggest staying far away, extremely difficult to understand and I would leave class feel like I have not been taught anything. Thank God for Sage!
This teacher is horrible, DO NOT get her
She makes mistakes constantly that lead to irrelevant lessons during class. I would strongly suggest doing everything possible to avoid having her as an instructor.
Martincic made the class ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE. I was supposed to be in a college-level class (MAT 099 is not) but I couldn't even pass this. She would make at least 8 mistakes on the board every day and would blame us for it. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET HER AS A TEACHER! Why MCC is still employing her is beyond me...
She does not like night classes. A bit boring, but you can see that she loves the subject matter. Had no trouble understanding her really. Not challenging if you do your homework... just LOTs of homework and lots of annoying easy problems in the book that just take a lot of simple algebra and barely any calculus.
Worst teacher ever. I am an A student. I took college calculus in high school and got a's and b's. She made it impossible. She's mean to students. She's hard to understand and if she doesn't like you...good luck. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT HAVING THIS TEACHER for grade and learning reasons. SERIOUSLYYYYY
Wow,just wow, the worst teacher i have ever had hands down. Screawed me bad in my calc class, tahts 5 credit hours down the drain... PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD: DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES!!!!!
I read all of these reviews before I took Calc II with her. I though "how bad could it be?" TRUST ME, you do NOT want to take Calc with this intstructor. She makes so many errors and doesn't know how to do half the examples she puts on the board! I had to drop this class because it was impossible with her. Just please, don't take a class with her
You can barely understand her, due to her accent. But even if you could understand her, her face is in the white board the entire time anyways. She is extremely annoying and randomly gets mad when you do not interact with her. Terrible teacher, do not take her class, ever!
Martincic loves math and wants her students to succeed. She challenges you with alot of hw problems but it prepares you for the future. However, she often makes mistakes when explaining examples on the board. Her tests and quizzes are pretty hard. I'm an A student and Calc 1 was pretty hard with her and I got a B. Be ready to work fast and hard. :/
Horrible. My class size went from 25 to 11 by the end of the semester. I only stayed because I just took calc in high school. Many mistakes on notes, you will have to teach yourself... Nation.
ALL OF THE COMMENTS ARE RIGHT ON. I had her for General Statistics, and the class drop-off rate was amazing. Almost all notes are riddled with grammatical errors, making them nearly illegible (random particles are omitted), so most of the class had to teach themselve, or be resigned to failure. Most classes involved heated (and awkard) arguments.
Took Calc I & Calc II with her back in '08. I was the only person who got an A in both classes, and the amount of people who dropped out was amazing. I feel that she prepared me for where I am now: working on a Masters in Applied Mathematics, emphasis on complex/numerical analysis. Take her if you want a challenge. Not for the stupid and lazy.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! Easy class to take but she complicates the problems and gets mad at her students when SHE makes a mistake. Worst professor i've had in my 3 years of college.
This woman should be fired! She has no right being a teacher, the worst i've ever come across. She argues with her students when she is wrong, and she assumes the student knows how to do lessons so she doesn't even bother to teach them. HORRIBLE!!!!
She altered the syllabus countless times during the semester and we ended up running out of time in the course. She changed many of her grading procedures that were identified in the beginning of the semester that affected our grades. A lot of work is done online which is just a pain as well. She was willing to help if you had questions.
I'm surprised by the negativity in many of these reviews. Many students in my class were so disruptive and in some cases just plain mean to her. Lectures could have been more concise, but she's a very nice person who didn't deserve the juvenile behavior all semester. It's an easy class, and I'm not even good at math.
While she does have a thick accent, she isn't impossible to understand. There is a lot of homework that she requires due the next day not on test day like all the other math teachers I've had. She does make frequent mistakes and doesn't always teach a full lesson. There's a lot of self teaching to be done in this class. Be prepared fora challenge.
She accused me of cheating the first day because I did a problem in my head. She hated my class and you could tell. Irritable and likely to explode on even the most polite students. Not helpful. Rude. Disrespectful. Treats her class as if they are kindergartners. Avoid if possible. Take Ms. Boring.
DO NOT TAKE WITH HER. She picks on individual students & doesn't show interest in the subject. The notes look nothing like the h.w or the tests. She makes at least 3 mistakes a day, and often goes off topic. Never takes any grades other than tests (which are impossible to pass). Her drop out rate is sky high & she makes it nearly impossible to pass
WORST IDEA OF MY LIFE TAKING HER CLASS. so hard to understand! She makes frequent mistakes as well. I do not recommend enrolling in her classes whatsoever. Especially if you're not good at math like me!
She does have an accent which can be difficult to understand at first, but it is easy to adjust to. She will take the time to help you, either in class or out of class, if you are not understanding something. If you show up and do the in-class work and the work assigned to you should have no problem in her class.
Terrible teacher. Class consist of her just talking and trying to explain Calculus while students sit there confused. I wouldn't recommend her if math isn't your strong suite. She expects you to know math formula's and rules that you've probably never learned and down grades you for not having a good prior understanding of math.
The class was just awful. I learned nothing and had to teach myself mostly everything. If a student asked a question she responded that the class should know this, so she was not going to show us how to do a problem. Makes lots of mathematical errors when doing problems on the board.
You need to do your homework every day to pass. If you have a problem with understanding anything at all, she will meet with you in her office and help you. If you do your homework and ask questions when you are struggling, you will pass Calculus 2 with Anne Martincic.
Literally the worst. I would make a better teacher than her.
She isn't that bad of a teacher. I understand math and I thought she was okay. There were some things I didn't understand and I'd ask for help. My class was filled with jerks so when we would ask for help she would say "you should know this by now". Biggest pet peeve is she takes forever to put in your test grade.
This is the first and only time in my life I've ever dropped a class due to a professor. If you struggle with math this is not the teacher for you. Between my inability to understand her and her inability to correctly solve math problems without student corrections the whole experience was just awful. Beyond awful.
Honestly, Professor Martincic is a much better teacher than these reviews imply. Her accent is nowhere near not being able to understand. People are correct that she does make errors with problems on the board, but she always admits when she makes a mistake. Besides that she actually cared about my education and helped whenever I had problems.
Disrespectful. Very hard to understand what she is saying. WOULD NOT take the course with her. Makes you feel stupid and shes hard to work with if you need help.
Online Stats with her was an easy A. She posts simplified handouts of the material we were learning and posted plenty of videos that showed how to do the problems step by step. She allows 2-3 tries on quizzes and exams. She answers her emails quickly and post weekly encouraging announcements.
She is an awesome teacher, but you have to do the work to get the A. For weekly discussion posts, you MUST post before reading anyone else's or you do not get credit. Also, you cannot amend your discussion post after reading others. There is a project at the end for the last 5 weeks or so that is easy, if you just sit down and do it. Don't be lazy.
She will confuse you on day one. You try to ask her for help on anything, she will call you stupid. Constantly messing up and making mistakes throughout the lecture. I had to drop because of her with a 65%. I retook this same class with a different professor the next semester and now have 95% in the class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!
I've never failed a class before in my life I ended her class with a 55% Coincidence? I think NOT.
Terrible teacher, no actual leacture notes just handouts of PowerPoints poorly gone over
Her class was honestly one of the worst classes I've been. I've done well academically but I hated how she treated my classmates sometimes. Everything about her grading is vague and it's hard to know how many points you've actually got for a question. She can be very biased in her grading. She's also a stickler for notation, which I can understand.
Do NOT take a course with her. My class was respectful beyond belief and she still had the audacity to treat us like children. Students had to correct her multiple times a day and she had excuses for everything. If you had a reasonable problem to talk with her about, she would blow you off and make you feel stupid. Terrible teacher.
She yells at students for correcting her mistakes. Sometimes she cant even solve the problems and leaves them blank. She usually messes up one of her own problems at least once during each day. When you ask her questions, she is super passive aggressive and tells you that she went over this before. She doesnt take criticism and blames it on you.
Alright. This is going to be a woozy. Absolutely awful. Terrible teacher. Extremely inconsistent grading tests and assignments. Would make silly examples out of questions that none of us would understand. Beware of this teacher. Do not take a course with her. I was forced to take Calc 1 when I could have easily gone into Calc 3. Almost got a B.
Horrible. Don't take her class.
Honestly she is terrible. I suggest anyone who needs MAT 120 to never take a class with her. She needs to be fired. Super disrespectful to students. Never ask a question because she will be super rude.
Horrible
had a test due Mon at noon, went to take it at 10, wasnt letting me take it bc it said it was due at 9 am. her notes said it was due at noon. i emailed her and asked her about it. she said that notes are right and that it was due at 9. went back to check the date, she changed the due date to make it seem like i was wrong. her notes are never right
Online stats with Martincic is a great online class. Weekly discussions along with weekly quizzes. She was very kind with responses to the discussions! Exams were about every 2-3 weeks. The class I took didn't have lecture, so I had to follow the textbook to the T. My exams and quizzes were non-proctored.
Half the time she did not know what she was talking about and could not solve her own example problems. She also would make you feel horrible if you did not know the answer. Would never recommend this teacher to anybody . The example problems were never like anything of the tests and quizzes.
Only a month into this class so far and I can't emphasize enough that all of the other 1/5 reviews are to a freakin tee on how they describe the course. She's never at fault, it's the students who are at fault so therefore they must be treated like middle school kids, lessons are hard to follow and asking questions result in passive aggressiveness.
Very difficult to deal with. Changed test date to a day earlier without warning. Will not budge on extension requests. Would not take this class again.
GOD AWFUL PROF! Avoid her at all costs. She does not teach you anything and is very hard to understand and approach. If you have to take this class, tutoring will be your best friend. She is very self-centered. She will embarrass you for asking a simple question! She offers no additional help. She needs to be fired... & just try your very best :)
She's hard to understand, sometimes assigns homework even before finished teaching. Buying a $100 program for textbook and to do homework that sometimes doesn't even work right is mandatory, means you'll lose money no matter if you're gonna drop this class later on or no. Passed this class with the knowledges I learned by myself.
i did not have a problem with her. as long as you use your resources you will pass no problem.
AVOID HER!! She does not teach. It is an in person class that YOU MUST ATTEND, but she will not teach you. She makes you buy a $100 book and thatll supposedly teach you everything and shes just there. Sends emails on weekends wanting you to complete work before even being taught the material. HORRIBLE PROF
Unjust. Too much material for her to cover in class, she covers the basics & asking questions rarely helps. You pay $90+ for a program that is your textbook & all of your work. The textbook is bad; you are assigned 40+ problems a week. Learn from examples or on your own- that is the only way you will pass without already knowing the material.
She is just like Socol. Gives you lecture on a new chapter but also gives you a test on the same day on the previous chapter showing that she does not care about student success on the test.
Prof. M is very unkind and barely teaches the lesson. It's basically up to you to understand anything. She's passive-aggressive towards you for asking questions or correcting her, she barely finishes the notes and mutters under her breath while lecturing. Math was always my best subject, but this prof's class is very stressful.
Anne consistently gave homework and quizzes online that didn't match what she taught in class. Her lectures were long and hard to follow, she repeatedly would refuse to answer questions from people and would instead get frustrated, dance around the question and eventually lose her train of thought and move on instead of actually helping people.
worst prof I have EVER had! DO NOT take her. She is a terrible teacher and went in circles all day. She is a bully that starts high school drama with her students and will pick on people she doesn't like. She assigns homework she doesn't even test on and you are given 40mins to complete a test after she teaches the NEXT unit.I had to drop the class
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR! She shuns you away for asking for help, changes due dates / test dates, very difficult to work with. A month before school ends I tell her I want to raise my grade 3% b/c I need to end with a C-. She put zeros in the gradebook. I asked to withdrawl and she refused. I ended with a D+. NO extra credit / help!
Anne gets a pretty bad rap. I took her class and yes it was difficult, but mainly because she expects the best from her students. She gives plenty of opportunities to make up points, and gives plenty of feedback if you ask for it. If you take this class do not skip lectures and ask as many questions as possible and you will be fine.
This class was so hard and she provided almost no support or direction whatsoever. If you want to teach yourself and receive no guidance, take a class from her. Otherwise, steer clear at all costs. I should have listened to the other ratings, but I never would have taken a class from her if it wasn't the only available course section.
Took her statistics class in the spring of 2020. Awful teacher. Poorly explained the concepts. Was very condescending towards everyone. No one understood the lectures and she got angry and started insulting us when no one asked any questions.
Do not recommend
Tests do not match the notes. very rude. forgets and messes up problems while teaching.
I hate giving a negative review because she was really nice, but the lectures were EXTREMELY hard and I couldn't learn at all, even though she really tried to help me. My dad also looked at my notes and said the way she was teaching it was really confusing, and I have to agree. I didn't get it at all, and I've always been good in math classes
I would not recommend her as a teacher. I ended up dropping her class because the homework did not match the tests. She was not willing to help and all of her feedback was very rude. All of the dates on her assignments were wrong and would not fix them if there was an issue. I did not like her and would never take a class from her again.
I personally never met her in person because I took the online course, but she was very helpful with the feedback she gave anytime I had difficulty with anything. She was also very lenient with deadlines and due dates, so if I every missed something, she made sure I got another opportunity to complete it and always asked if I needed assistance.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! Unless you love learning by yourself, don't even try doing any classes with her. She does a horrible job at explaining problems and I've had several breakdowns trying to understand the material. Currently have an F while all my other classes have As. If you're stuck in this class, sage learning center is your best bet.
Take this course online if you just need to fulfill a prereq or gen-ed. The content is pretty easy and most of it is taught in high schools. Never had experience with the professor herself since she uses youtube videos to teach each concept, its an independent online course and if you're average at math I'd reccomend you take this course.
