A wonderful professor, and a genuinely kind human being
Go to lecture. The things that she talks about in lecture are actually important.
I had her for my honors seminar and she was really sweet. She tried to be fair in her methods and considering it was an interdisciplinary class, did great.
B-O-R-I-N-G
She was a great teacher. Very fair in her grading, very clear lectures (though a tad boring) very helpful if you need it...I would recommend her.
Best psych professor I ever had. A joy to be in her class.
She's a really sweet lady, but her class is boring as hell. But make sure you go to lecture, cuz everything she talks about in her lectures are on the test.
Best professor for this course. Her exams are a little challenging though. Posts course notes that are very helpful including a few freebie questions on midterms. Speaks very good english which is a plus for all students.
she smiles Soooooo much!
go to the lectures. you'll miss extra credit and video clips--which aren't mentioned in the lecture notes but they are always on the exam.
her tests are not that hard but needs to go over more of the material.
She has pent up rage that she lets out when she makes up tests. Her classes are ridiculously boring and the fact that she talks in one sweet monotone makes you want to go to sleep. I have found Ben STein's lost sister.
Almost everything she taught in class appeared in the exam. Highly recommened to go to lecture for extra credit!! Beautiful and sweet professor
Her tests are fair and she's a very nice professor. I would recommend her.
I liked her, compared to other PSY 103 teachers, she's def. the best! Do go to class though, for some extra credit.
shes an amazing professor

She's nice and all (maybe a bit too nice), but she makes the topic very boring.
she's a nice professor however her tests are not that easy, you need to read the textbbok, her tests are on the lecture and the textbook. If you don't have time to read the text then I prefer you should not take this class. THERE IS ALOT OF READING.
she makes people go to sleep and test are hard
She is the sweetest woman alive if you talk to her before or after class or in her office hours. She's brillant, too, which makes her tests a little difficult but nothing unbearable. She made this class so easy for everyone - cutting experiment requirements, adding extra credit... highly recommended
Class average for exams is a 68% what can you say? Yes her exams is sort of difficult that studying and not studying does not make a differece for me. Furthurmore I think she's the only professor in Stony brook that give a midterm during the finals week. which is this upcoming wednesday and the final is the following monday..
Uh, class average being a close to 70% is pretty high for such a huge class. Her tests are not hard at all, they come straight from the book and lecture notes. If you study, then you are bound to find the test easy.
the tests are hard...you have to do a lot of reading. she doesn't take attendance but gives extra credit during her lectures so i recommend you come to class.
THe biggest **** of a teacher ever. Her tests are so badly scheduled that her last one is 2 days before the first finals. She has no sympathy toward her students and doesnt give any leway in the rules. Her tests are difficult and she doesnt curve them...which makes it very hard to get an A which means that you need a 45/50 on every test.
very nice teacher. lectures are very dry and slides are basic. very low class attendance but she gives out lots of extra credit during class. for tests, easy multiple choice provided you at least know your stuff. she takes examples and answers right out of the textbook.
Class can get very boring. However, if you go to classes and actually read the text book, class is actually ok.
the class is boring sometimes, the subject is very interesting. Her tests are really fair, and come exactly for lecture slides, but you really have to read the text book. Pretty much the teacher is good, the class is good, if you study for the tests you will do awsome, without ever going to class. Just read the book and her power point slides.
Lectures were long and drawn out. tests are challenging if you dont read the textbook or come to class. her final exam was a compilation of all the previous tests given throughout the semester. very easy to bump from a B to A by doing extra credit. she gives a lot of oppurtunities for e.c. just go to class and do the research experiements.
beautiful and sweet prof, and the lecture might be a little too boring and you may find yourself taking notes all the time, i strongly recomment you to read the book and understand the material esp the research studies in the text book cuz many questions in the exam will be related to the studies!
Very smart, kind, and articulate. Textbook reading is a must if you want to ace the exams. If you put the effort in, then you should be able to pull off an A. Attending lectures really help, not only because of the slides, but because she offers extra credit opportunities.
She was a very nice professor and her intro psy lectures were very interesting and fun. She would tell us to do psych. activities during class and it makes the class unlike other boring classes. I didn't really study that much so I ended up w/ a B- but if I tried I would've done even better.
Tries very hard to make topics understandable to everyone. Tests are moderately difficult, relies heavily on readings. Pop quizzes in class, but the questions come from the text book (word for word) so as long as you do the reading, you'll be fine. Highly recommended for psych majors needing to take 310.
Great Teacher. Definitely take her class. Lectures aren't madatory but they help...she gives pop quizzes but the answers are straight from the textbook answer key. She's so sweet and wantes everyone to do well. Gives extra credit too. With some studying getting an A on tests is simple.
Ms.Moyer taught the lecture part of PSY310. Honestly, this was a really easy class, but if you added in all the miscellaneous works assigned in recitations, it was a little demanding. The lectures were boring, multiple-choice tests were boring. I put in moderate effort and got an A-. However I did have an awesome recitation teacher.
Nice teacher, should do well on tests if you read the chapter. no way to fail the lecture portion, exams are that easy. go to class- pop mini quizzes on readings. Graduates teach recitation, Jennifer Rodden is really good- but i've heard that most of them were all fantastic.
She is really sweet and goes out of her way to make sure that everyone understands the material. You have to come to class though as she does random progress checks (hate those) but she's great!! =)
Lectures are deathly boring. she goes so slow on each slide. pop quizzes make you come. she counts 5 or 6. three tests and a final. if u pass all the tests, no final. nice but boring. take her if you need to fulfill psyc major.
this class is so easy! read the txtbook, answers for progress checks r in the back. There are 6 progress checks worth 5 pts each. 3 exams and an optional final. I got an A. Just go to class, its not that bad. And do ur work in recitation!
The letcure is so boring that you can easily fall asleep. You want to attend the class only to take a pop quiz which count 5% of your grade each. Exams are extremely easy and you can get 100%. 3 midterms and 1 cumulative final and lowest grade out of the 4 is dropped.
This is a class for PSY majors and if you babies think it's boring, then give up the notion of a career in psychology where research will be most of your life! She makes learning the details of research very interesting and she's a great professor. Quality people like her are rare on this campus, definitely recommend!
in-class progress checks are worth so much more than you think. i couldve easily gotten an A in this class but missed 3 progress checks which lost me 15 points toward my final grade. other than that, THIS PROFESSOR IS THE BEST. she is sooo sweet. her lectures are very helpful as well. i really enjoyed learning from her.
Recommend taking psy 310 with her. She's really sweet and tries to make concepts clear. Go to class for the in class progress checks which count for 20 points. The checks are only one question and it's taken from the end of the assigned chapter so keep up w/ the reading.
Very good psych professor. Posts lecture slides up before class. Explain clearly and well. Offers multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the term in class so GO TO LECTURE. They can boost your grade up quite a bit. There are 3 exams and 1 final. She drops the lowest of the 3 exam grades. Very good professor overall.
prof is good and energetic and gives u slides so you dont have to take excessive notes. Horrible at planning exams. she gives 3 midterms and drops teh lowest but the 3rd is 6 days before the final and has a ridiculous amount of info to cover. Class would benefit more from 2 exams and a curve then this.A LOT OF READING and you MUST attend lecture.
do NOT take this professor. she gives the 3rd exam within a week of the cumulative final and doesnt cover half the third exam info in lecture. awful. She is killing my 3.8. No curves, extra credit doesnt help THAT MUCH and she comes up with your grade too mathematically. good luck.
Very nice lady and makes psych 103 real interesting and fun. I think the extra credit does help. you should really read the text book as well as the slides... i got a c+ in the class but only cuz i never read but if u put effort into the class it really isnt that hard!
she may be nice and cute and smiley on the outside, but the tests are hard. you absolutely have to read the textbook and review lecture notes. each test was on about six chapters, 30 pages each so its a lot of material.go to lecture because she gives lots of extra credit then. and by lots i mean, so much as to improve my grade from a B+ to an A.
Everyone says that the exams are extremely hard, but if you read the textbook & attend the lectures, you'll be fine. Exams weren't that difficult. Even though the final exam was a week after the 3rd midterm, we had reading periods & an in-class review session. It's not her fault that the final was scheduled to be on the first day of finals too.
If your a core scince major or have taken hard subjects such as o-chem this class is breeze it took me just about a day to go over the entire syllabus.. TIPS to do well attend classes get all the extra credit you can get(theres loads of it !!!) and again attend classes..!!
This class was so easy- if you're just taking it for the DEC/don't care about psych, don't take it. If you read the textbook [which is REALLY easy to read], you'll be all set to get an A, the test questions come right out of the book's review sections/ are given out in class. Ridiculous amounts of extra credit if you attend class.
I love her! She's so sweet and she really made the class interesting. There's tons of extra credit if you go to class so go! Plus she shows videos in class that are on the tests too. She's totally fair in her grading and truly cares about her students. She's always willing to help. I really recommend her!
It's great that you get extra credit for just coming to class. The problem is that her tests sometimes seem like they have random/very specific things from the textbook...but all in all, a very nice teacher with somewhat easy tests and not too demanding course load. And yes, she is really pretty!
Extremely difficult exams.........Horrible Reviews.......and all around bad class....wouldn't recommend taking it
Really intelligent and good at explaining material through slides. Tests can be pretty difficult though. Reading the textbook is crucial to doing well since quite a few of the questions come directly from experiments and passages from the text that were not covered in class.
Professor Moyer is amazing. I 100% recommend her class to anybody wanting to learn about psychology. She's intelligent, very helpful, and explains everything perfectly. Best class I've taken so far.
READ THE TEXTBOOK! I cant stress that enough, a third of the test questions are based on the text. Shes a very nice professor and down to earth but you do need to study alot of material for the test to keep up. Also do the extra credits by attending lecture. They bumped my grade from a B+ to a A!
Moyer is a wonderful professor that cares about her students. Be aware that the class requires a ton of reading and sometimes her exams can be ridiculously specific. The cutoff to get an A is also frustratingly high, but if you push yourself you can get an A. Make sure to attend lectures. She gives a ton of extra credit. I really enjoyed the class.
excellent professor; interacts with students; shows video clips that are touching anecdotes about the topic being covered; attend lectures because you can get six extra points on your grade; lowest of three mid-terms gets dropped; must read text to do well on tests, but this is interesting although lengthy; overall highly recommended
I took 300 level classes and they were significantly easier compared to PSY 103. She's a really hard grader and her questions are super detailed and require you to thoroughly read the textbook. She also doesn't curve her grades, so you get what you get. Don't take this class at all, its really hard and there are much easier DECs.
Just read the textbook. Exams are extremely specific -her lecture notes only cover the very basic stuff and generally won't help you that much. Reading is really straightforward. got an A by cramming before every exam and aced all of them..however i won't suggest cramming :p She is really nice, though.I recommend her.
Amazing Professor. Tests are straight from the textbook. Very Fair. Go to class for extra credit (6-7 per semester, worth 1pt towards your final grade!)
Extremely sweet and helpful. Tests can be a bit tricky, but she gives out extra credit if you come to class. Very fair. A bit boring at times, but I've had worse classes.
I dont know how people think her exams were difficult. I didnt even buy the text books and I managed to get an A- in that class. All you need to do is attend lectures because she gives extra credit during some of them, go over the review sheet she posts up on blackboard and skim through the lectures. Shes an amazing professor!
Not hard at all
One of the best professors at Stony Brook. her powerpoints are SOO helpful and full of information and shes one of the nicest ladies you'll ever meet. im not good with stats but she gives sooo many examples its hard to NOT get it.
One of the nicest professors you will ever meet; class was incredibly educational, exams were easy, and Professor Moyer made coming to such an early class so easy with her bright optimism and kindness to students. Highly recommend to anyone.
She is the ideal professor in my book. Excellent. My favorite professor so far. Her class is designed for you to get a good grade.... Extra credit.... Helpful.... Tests aren't bad...... TAKE HER!
Lovely professor. I wasn't looking forward to taking this class but prof. Moyer made it enjoyable. Nice, genuine, and clear. Class isn't mandatory but she gives "progress check" extra credit quizzes. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!
Exams based on textbook. Prof is good also. I came to write about her TA Lisa Robinson. She was an instructor in our recitation and she was the best. Very kind and helpful.
The book is very helpful so read it. i would have an A- if i attended class and did the progress checks. VERY GOOD professor lectures are also online if you miss class.
The professor is alright. I would like if the course had less material since it is a level 100 class.
Professor Moyer is very sweet. However, she doesn't seem to like to teach this class very much. She never seems to know the answers to students questions. Tests are from the book however there are many tricky questions. You must know the case studies.
Intresting class but it has the illusion of an easy A. She is a little boring but very clear and helpful so make sure you study cause test questions are a bit tricky even when you know the material
I had Prof. Moyer for my PSY 103 class and loved her! It was the only class that I actively looked forward to during the semester! She shows many helpful videos during lectures and has a great sense of humor! I did well in her class with minimal studying (but you definitely have to study at least a bit to do well!). Would HIGHLY recommend.
Moyer is the best, love her class! Super enthusiastic about her work & loves to interact w/ students during lecture. Always happy to answer & fully address student's questions. Straight forward, easy 50 questions exams. In class review sessions comparable to difficulty of the tests. Make use of study guides. Gives extra credit (mostly in class).
lectures are short and easy to understand but the tests are really hard since they are very detailed, all from the textbook, questions are tricky a lot. Professor Moyer is very strict about the grades.
It was a pleasure to have Dr. Moyer as a professor. She was clear about her expectations, and very easy to go to for help. It's a lot of reading, but the lectures are very engaging and easy to understand. The lectures are worth attending, but they are also echoed. There are plenty of opportunities to boost your grade if you don't do well on a test.
Tests can be tough. She drops the lowest grade so study for the 1st two because the last one is rather difficult. Lots of extra credit so if you happen to ace two midterms and the writing assignment you'll probably ace the class with a 70 on the final. You need to attend, focus, and read the textbook. Readings are long and contain a lot of info.
Professor Moyer is the best! Her lectures are informative, but simple and engaging. Go to class for extra credit points, which are given out on days at random. Tests are easy, as long as you either watch the echoes or pay attention in class. Don't bother with the textbook. Drops 1 out of 3 midterms, and the cumulative final is basic. TAKE HER!
Moyer is a pretty fair teacher. She doesn't do clicker question so you really don't have to go but she gives a lot of extra credit. You could get up to six points added to your average just by showing up. Her lectures arent very helpful and neither are her powerpoints. Read the text book and make sure you'll do fine
The lectures were boring but you should attend them since extra credit & she'll say little facts that are often on exams. But not always related to the context of psychology (like personal details about researchers). Also memorize all researchers names! Her exams were easy but had a good amount of questions that were very ambiguous with answers.
Professor Moyer is fantastic. She is extremely approachable and is more than willing to explain things that her students may not understand right away. She states in the syllabus that most of the content on the exams comes from the textbook, and that's definitely true, but you should still go to lectures. They're helpful and she offers extra credit
Not a bad lecturer but they do not help much for tests. If you want to do well you must read the textbook a lot and on great detail. Go to class to receive extra credit
She gives a lot of extra credit so it isn't too hard to get an A. There is research participation you have to do as well as a one page paper on it, but no hw. Just read the textbook and attend lectures.
You will have 3 tests and a final, but she will drop one test. She gives out random extra credits during lecture, so you have to show up to lectures to get it. You can get up to 7.5% of your total grade as extra credits. She tests small details from the textbooks, so you will probably need details notes.
She is a nice lady who is very understanding. Her lectures are interesting because she shows videos and talks about studies that were done in relation to the topic being covered. Her exams are detail-oriented, and are based on material from the textbook and the lectures. She offers extra credit just for attending her lectures, which is awesome.
The only reason to come to her lectures is to get extra credit. If you do not read the textbook and use her study guides, you will not pass. Her lectures are "30% of the test" but I think it is even less.
You don't have to show up, but she sometimes gives extra credit for people in class. She doesn't use clickers and takes time during class to answer questions. Easy tests.
Look at my grade, I am sure you wouldn't want that if you took this class for a SBC. I studied my brains out for this course yet could not do well and yes by far I've never got a B in college before. She covers very less in the class and asks deep questions from the book. If you want a good GPA, choose wisely.
I don't understand what the point of coming to the lectures was since her tests were all textbook. The first test I didn't read the textbook because she didn't say it was necessary and almost failed. Also you can't take exams home after so you dont know what u got wrong which was bad bc the final was like a mix of questions from all the midterms
Prof Moyer's class is engaging and interesting. She teaches the material clearly. You don't have to go to lectures but you def should bc you can get extra credit from pop quizzes. If you ever go to office hours you can tell that she truly cares about the subject matter and her students.
I love Professor Moyer. She is an angel woman. She is so caring and has a calming presence, which was necessary because the subject matter was very difficult. You have to read the textbook to fully grasp it. 4 tests, one is dropped (so nice), but those are the only grades. Our recitation instructor was so great, but assignment heavy. be prepared.
Professor Moyer is a caring instructor with a calming presence, essential for the challenging material. Reading the textbook is key. 4 tests with one dropped - a nice policy. The TA's workload was heavy, so be prepared. unstuck study was a lifesaver for study prep.
