she's okay...she's a bit of a tough grader, but the assignments she gives are fairly easy, and she shows interesting videos.
She used to teach 5th grade and it shows. Doesn't explain exactly what she wants until you've already turned it in. Pretty easy about grades, three papers due, no final.
She seems like she'd be a nice teacher at first, but shes incredibly unclear about what she wants from her students

Horrible teacher!
Ok, she was a bit nutty and had some big goals for my class (ie the 87 page essay midterm), but she was nice, and we could tell her that she was insane. That was fun. This was Fall 01. She might be better now.
She was a terrible teacher, however, I got an A- in the class. She doesn't explain what she wants until afterwards. Not much hard work, just busy work. But she picks apart every assignment and grades very tough.

She's very sweet, always smiling(which is annoying) but she knows what she is talking about. Has good discussions, the work was fair, but she was a hard grader when it came to papers. But I got a B, so you can def. get by.
i think she tries to scare everybody at the beginning of the semester. She's not the easiest teacher, she can be a little confusing as to what she wants. But she's not so bad. 2 presentations, midterm, final, 4 short papers, attendence and participation.
Always very helpful. Answered any and all questions by e-mail immediately. Ed histories of parents and ourselves were fun and interesting. Listened to students' suggestions and made changes. Fair grader.
She was a great professor & was very understanding of my personal problems throughout semester. Easy class. Just be ready to take notes during class & while watching movies. If you pay attention, read, & take notes then class should be a breeze!
Didn't like her one bit. She nice i will give her that but on the flip side this class was really boring. Never exciting, even when there was exciting topics to talk about. The tests required you to know a lot of details.
honestly she kinda nuts.. but extra credit .. trust me do it... i did like a total of 15 extra credit papers that took me a total of an hr and a half to do...i went from like a b-/c+ to an a-

Made History of Am Ed. interesting. Good discussions and fair workload made class enjoyable. She is available and willing to work with students and answer their questions.
She is an extremely nice and helpful teacher. She corrects your mistakes and allows you to redo everthing. Offers a lot of extra credit and is vey well organized. If you have a chance, take her!! One of the best at Rowan, I'd say.
Class is fine, but nothing discussed is relevant. Dont fall behind on all the study guides or itll take you forever--trust me! Offers lots of extra credit. Shes sortof opinionated.. but the class could totally be worse then it was... your call
She's really nice and offers lots of extra credit. The study guides are a lot of work and you need to keep up with them. The class was sometimes boring, but it was still really easy! She is really interested in what you have to say.
She's loud but not horrible. If she likes you, you'll get an A. if you make a half decent effort you'll get an A. It doesn't get much better than that

There are a lot of writing assignments-one for almost every class, but the class discussions are really intereting for the most part-she has just changed the way she teaches this class this semester so previous comments dont necc. apply. You can get an A if you do all of the assignments-lots of chances for extra credit too!
She is a good teacher has great intentions. i took her honors course we had 5 books only 2 i found interesting. research paper:( can rewrite it so u can get an A in the class
Shes bad. She has good class discussions, and yes plenty chances for extra credit but she gives no time to do assignments. It's frustrating! She assigns alot with only a little time to do it. She acts like her class is the only class that exists. No consideration at all. If you take this class make sure, your other classes aren't intense.
take this class if you feel like writing a paper for every single class. she grades the midterm and final so harshly. ive written over 20 papers for this woman so far. and if your stuff is slightly "historically innacurate" she flips
class is alot of out of class work but shes nice. if you dont like to talk in front of the class .. dont take her cuz u do it about four times. and the presentations are pointless. she basically likes hearing your life story and you just sit around a circle in BS. not too hard right?
RUN AWAY! RUN VERY FAR AWAY! Just about went to the dean of the department she is so bad. Not very clear on assignments-haven't learned a thing yet and she has me more concerned on how i actually did the paper than the content. Physically got sick when I did the midterm. Again, Please RUN AWAY.
She is nuts!! Very unclear and a very demanding class. Don't miss a detail on any projects.
GET OUT OF THIS CLASS WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!! She is a nut case!!!! She grades extremely harshly, shes unclear and basically thinks this is your only class. Do yourself a favor and pick a different professor. The midterm seems easy until you get it back and look at your grade. I hate this teacher more than anyone I have ever had. EVER.
Phillips expects a lot from everyone. very unclear on huge projects and on midterm & final. everything seems terribly easy until you get it back and found that you got a 20% on it. midterm grades were so bad that a 25% was a C. take her if ur good at reading minds and dont mind doing homework/writing essays for every class!
I enjoyed most of her class. She just gives out a lot of assignments (something is due almost every class),but most of them are simple. Her midterms and finals appear easy, but she grades them harshly. However, you can still get an "A" even if you score poorly on the midterm. You just have turn in all of your assignments on time and attend class.
Horrible professor! A paper is due every day and the midterm, like everyone else mentioned, is impossible. You have to do a million presentations which are about your personal life. Worst of all she writes down when you speak and if you don't speak each class, she makes you! So ridiculous! I would NEVER recommend her class to anyone EVER!
hist of amer ed- terrible teacher, knows what shes talking about but alot of reading and papers due, and not clear on directions for assignments. very strict with grading, marks u down for not stapling your hw or single spacing. good discussions in class but its not worth it
Tough class...you will write a at least a 2 page paper and read 25-50 pages for every class.Do not be absent or it will tank you.Zero clarity on written assignments and test questions are poorly written and wordy. On the flip side,she is one of the professors who really cares about your education. If it can be avoided, try to. If not, buckle down!
phillips is the worst teacher ever. she cares about no one and thinks we should be lucky to have her. her homework assignments can take 3 hours. i learned nothing important. one test she even made us CONVINCE her it was the right answer, even though she already knew it was. or we would not get credit. it felt like she wanted us to fail. AVOID
The worst teacher i have ever had in my life. VERY vague on everything! A complete nutcase, multiple times she said that her computer ate a DVD. Gives homework almost every class. All my other classes combined dont give as much as she does.

HAE - TOUGH Prof. It's her way or the highway, if you have a differing opinion than hers don't voice it!!! Work is due usually every class, but it is easy and she grades it easily. Midterm & Final covers nothing we talked about in class. Don't take unless there's no other choice.

Ridiculously Liberal and a huge femanist...hates all things male dominated and republican...midterm and final are really hard, but lots of easy homeworks and 2 easy papers..lots of class discussion..high school class atmosphere
She is a control freak.When I walk into her class I feel like I am walking into kindergarten. Belittling students seems to be her favorite pass time.In my opinion it is quite disturbing that she should be an example to future educators.Expect to spend hours on ridiculous assignments and plan to study your entire textbook.
She is HORRIBLE!!!! She's very unclear about what she wants in your assignments. She assigns at least one one-page paper for every class. Study guide doesnt even help with the midterm. Midterm and final are hardly worth anything. Thinks shes always right no matter what. GET AWAY FROM HER AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!
WOW..hands down the WORST teacher i've ever had. from start to finish of each class, you will hear yourself as well as others say the phrase "is she for real?" EVERY class typed papers are due..useless repeatitive projects, BUSY WORK, like we are in 6th grade again..very rude woman, asks for opinion n tells u you're wrong..please do NOT take her!
Seriously, she is not hard. She is strict with time and attendance but if you just go to class and participate you get an easy A. There is a lot of busy work but as long as you do it you're fine. You need your books but a lot of the papers are just on your opinion. Your midterm and final are 10% of your grade. Most of your grade is showing up.
Hist of American Ed. You will have a paper due every class. And read a chapter for that assignment. Midterm and final were hard. She makes you put up name tags each class. When she "lectures" shes all over the place. She is rude and has an obsession over her college bf. Dont take.
Some of the things that come out of this woman's mouth just make you go "huh?" She's obsessed with her ex, being a ballerina, and black people. If I had done all of the class assignments I would have gotten an A. I didn't find the midterm or final that hard. Our class had some really good discussions. The final project and paper are easy and fun.
Phillips is a teacher that you have to do all the work for. I didn't mind doing the papers every class because they were usually opinion ones. I recommend her because I learned a lot and enjoyed the class. She is a bit crazy but definately one of my favorite teachers. Just do the work and you'll be fine
I had Phillips for Honors HAE. It's true, she talks about her ex all the time. You will have a paper due every class. Don't bother reading; I didn't and got an A as my final grade. She talks about things that have nothing to do with the class. She grades easy, but her feedback is strange. I had fun laughing at how weird she is.
Im one to think of college professors as just challenging, since you are in college. But she assigned ridiculous assignments thinking she was being cute. She can be very rude and snobby. Assigned a lot of group work outside of class when everyone commuted with jobs. I love college and learning, but she put a bad taste in my mouth.
I dont see why all these comments are negative. Yes, there are are papers due everyday but they are one page and easy, and if u do the paper you will get a hundred. Her midterm and final were not that hard, she gave study guides of wat to expect, she offers a lot of extra credit too. If you are looking for a class to get an A in, take this class.
She is great at what she does, but I wouldn't call her a teacher. She more or less just mediates class discussions and puts in her own input. Showing up to class is 15% of the grade, and as long as you do your homework you get an easy A. I'd recommend taking this class, since I heard all of the other HAE classes were ridiculous.
im in her class right now. she's a pain in the butt, and think she knows everything, and feels like she has to have the final word. as long as you do the homework assignments and try to talk as much as possible in her class, you will be fine. just warning you, she has an attitude and thinks shes better than you.
Thought this class was pretty easy and interesting. Just do ever assignment and you will get an A in the class. Everyone has to do a presentation that is worth 15% of your grade, and she is very easy on grading it. Take her if you need History of American Education.
The information she teaches is great.She gives a lot of extra work that's very interesting and relates to the class. HOWEVER, she teaches and conducts the class as if it were an elementary class. She speaks to the students as if they were 10yrs old. It's insulting & quite annoying to be in her class.

a terrible teacher. She will tell you you are wrong even when right. she argues with the class and makes the material more confusing then it has to be. I ended up getting a B but only because i got a 100 on the final presentation that i worked very hard on
She was extremely confusing and unsure of how to use Blackboard or the internet. Don't take her class.
History was never my favorite subject but the assignments she gives have actually help me get interested. She is funny and enjoys group discusions and tries to get everyone in the class involved. If you don't try to stay active in class my will probably be really bored. She gives a lot of work and reading but the work isn't super hard.
She makes you learn everything entirely from reading the books. You have to submit at least 2 essays every class. The work is so overwhelming and she will always say she is right even when she isn't. She will take points off of anything she can. Worst professor I have ever had.
If you like professors that criticize and belittle their students, she is the one for you. although towards the end of the semester and of the mayhem (mountains of reading and a paper due everyday) it made sense (A LITTLE). Two books are used, one is entirely focus on education, the other is just us history (waste). God speed if you have her.
She was an amazing professor. Yes, she requires you to do alot of reading and alot of work, but she is always ready to help you. She was very interesting as a person and I really enjoyed her class. Yes, she does demand you to go to class and get your work done, but isn't that what college is about
History and Education books? Yes, but it shows how it goes hand in hand. You can tell that she's very passionate about her teachings. Comes off as "mean" if you give your opinion about history because she will have her opinion on something she has close to heart. Her study guides were EXACTLY what would be on the test which was very helpful too.
I like history and I like teachers that push me and work you but this teacher is awful. For the first two weeks we had a substitute. That's fine but she sent contradictory e-mails and demanded way too much out of students that she was never really there to demand anything from. Also her ability to use blackboard was extremely unhelpful.
She's awesome! She knows her stuff very well and if you put the effort into the class, you will get a lot out of it. Class participation is a MUST. She may come off as mean at first but once you get to know her she's a great person and teacher. If you want to learn, take this class.
She comes off as nice. Don't trust it. She's a hard grader and expects you to do a ton of work. She is the definition of being a professor who thinks her class is the only class you have. DO NOT take her unless its a last resort.
Not a horrible teacher but her grading is very bias. You have to write the papers in her opinion that she favors not what you think. And if she doesn't like you the class will not be fun
Homework assignment every night that goes along with 2 hours of reading from the textbook. If you don't participate she notices, and marks you down for it. She also clearly shows favorites, and once you start to participate you can get on her good side. The midterm, final paperpresentation, and final exam count for 45% of your grade.
The homework in the first half of the semester is intense, but lightens toward the end. Her grading is tough, but make use of her comments on all assignments to get the hang of how she grades. Participate in class, try to be there, and do ALL HW! E.C. makes a difference too! Try hard and by the end of the course, you'll probably like her, I did!
The work seems endless and impossible in the beginning of the semester. You will regret taking her. She is an extremely tough grader but once you understand what she wants, you will do much better. I got a few C's on homework assignments until I learned what she wanted. The class became much easier once I understood exactly what she wanted.
She's just boring and annoying. She's wayyyyy to into it. She feels like her class is YOUR first priority. She's so nice and if you ask her for help she's there. She does have some easy projects it's not hard to pass but it's time consuming.
At first, this class seemed as if it was going to be overwhelming for me. But by the end of the semester, I learned so much about myself and the actual coursework she had us reading. Although what we were reading was a bit off of topic from the actual class, it was very interesting. She's an easy grader and there is room to boost your grade.
The amount of work this woman wants you to do is INSANE. When I took her course she had a professor substitute for her. The substitute would say one thing and then she would say another. She expected, I kid you not, 8 chapters read on top of her assignments. I don't doubt that she's a nice person but seriously, Run.
