Terrible teaching style; too much emphisis on note taking & little hands on.Classroom atmosphere is unfair & has adolesent attitude
not enough class work not good teachin techniques
shes an awesome professor. She teaches in a fun, but fast way. But she does stop and help when ever needed, and goes over lots of the material till you understand.
She is an awesome teacher!!! Willing to take time to answer questions. Very patient and tries to create a fun atmosphere for her students.
Very good professor. I can understand how others might not pick up on her style. She is very eclectic and friendly to her students. She has a low tolerance for those who do not show up, understandably. One of the few teachers that actually cares about students more than the pay check. Definitely helped me hone my rusty math skills.
I loved her, it was like being in highschool again. Class was small, and shes HUGE on people coming to class, I already took calc in high school, but she was good, and she tried really hard, shes fun ! I recommend her!
Whatever
very fair. difficult subject, but she tried to help students understand, even asked for feedback and revised her approach mid-semester
I took her for BM in the summer and had a blast. She explains things clearly & is eager to answer questions. She is big up on HW, group activities, note taking, and quizzes. However, she is a lenient grader. She's like your favorite teacher in High school. We even had a "food day", we ate pizza while studying for the final exam. Highly recommended.
Saving grace dude. She can lay it out for you, and catch you up to where you need to be. She is one patient women.
She rocks! Anyone who thinks she is a bad teacher is probably never in class or doesn't ask 4 help. She tries to make math fun. My grade is good because she's not boring like other teachers. She's big on HW, but the amount is not overwhelming. Her teaching is very clear w/plenty of examples. She encourages office hr visits. + she's patient & nice.
If your not very strong in math I would highly recommend her.Her class is easy except for the fact that she is real big on attendance and HW.Through my experience, she would have quizzes over the HW @ the beginning of every class.Despite the fact that I avg a B on exams i miss 6 quizes. 6 o's drop me down to a C. She's patient and helpful and fun
great teacher, gpa boost
She is not bad but never easy to get A from her. There is never extra credit which can compensate my miss and she is too sensitive
Easy, funny, helpful, clear, kind
Best professor ever.if you have strong background and like to study you may get A easily but you need to study for that. she is very helpful.exams and homework are straightforward.
Love or HATE i guess. Teaching style drove me crazy. Covers basics in class and when you get to homework you are lost. Class has a very childish feel to it (think cute songs and "if jonny has 5 apples") If you like to walk in class and work out problems until time is up STAY AWAY. I think most people who like this class are 18/F who love ponies.
I just recently went back to school and had to take MATD 0330 and I am very thankful that I took this class with Praderas. She is funny and makes math simple to understand, (which I needed!) She is really helpful and I enjoyed this class. I highly recommend taking her!
Prof. is not clear on what she wants from students. Gives you a test, then marks off for notation (never emphazied notation in class). Childish, straight out of high school style teaching. Not the best teacher but also not the worst. 50/50 you like her or not.
She drops a bunch of low grades. Excellent teaching style and takes time to explain questions. Lots of homework which adds up to lots of practice. Took her for summer trig.
Best teacher for math, even if you don't like the subject she will make it interesting. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow. Show up for class and do the homework and you'll do fine. Her test are NOT hard but she grades hard for that reason. But if you want to get better in math, take her class, she will change your view on it! and she is rea
Great teacher. I recommend her all the way if you want to understand what you are doing, and have a great teacher who works with you and cares.
she's honestly the best math teacher i've had at ACC thus far, and i'm.. practically math-retarded, so if she can help me understand.. she's just a genius, ok? take her class.
Anne is the most awesome math teacher EVER. As long as you're respectful and work hard, you will do exceptionally well in this class. She explains things very clearly and takes a genuine interest in the growth of her students. She is an exemplary model of what a teacher should be.
She is excellent, comprehensible, interested in our actually learning precalculus. I will assuredly be taking her for Cal I and II.
She is hot. Do not give you good concept. You have to study like crazy at home. I am scare to recommend her class. You gonna loose your dream.
She's not hot. She curses occasionally and makes fun analogies, but when push comes to shove I wouldn't label her as a great teachers. She's a high school teacher. She understands questions and explains, but she always seems bothered if you approach her during office hours. She grades her tests VERY hard and she also leaves out whole sections.
Anne is HOT! She's AN EXPERT AT TEACHING! She's the BEST and NICEST professor! She really wants her students to succeed so she's CRYSTAL CLEAR in lecture and when answering questions. Her quizes and tests are always fair! If you pay attention in class and do all the homework problems until you understand them then you will easily make an A!
Praderas can teach a blind man to see. Attendance is not mandatory, but there are quizzes. So, make sure you come in. The test are not hard, but they are comprehensive for the material they cover. Homework is not mandatory, but you will pay for not doing them. Do your homework, understand it, and you will get an A on your tests.
Calc II- I did not like how she tested. Different sections would be more heavily weighted than others. On some quizzes, she would not allow calculators and did not mention it until she handed out the quiz. Methodology of solving problems was different between homework and test. I would have liked a stronger correlation between HW and tests.
I've had to lower my standards of math proffesors recently because it seems that they love math but can't teach it or can't explain it. This isn't the case with Ms. Praderas. She's passionate about math and explains concepts better than any teacher I've had prior or since. Her tests are hard, but expected material from class (so attend).
SHE knows Calculus, but she's not good at getting it across to her students. You will be fine if math comes easy for you but anyone that has a trouble with math I would advice not to take her. She doesn't let you keep your test which helps a lot with studying
Anne is so sweet and helpful and relates math to real situations to make it understandable. I have never understood math until her class. She is so supportive and encouraging!
Anne, was a great teacher who went out of her way to make sure you understood all the material. The only thing she hates is for you to crinkly wrappers in class..
Not easy, nor impossible. I think she takes pride in introducing Calc1 students class to the rigors of academic math. This ain't babby's first algebra class. Do the homework and you'll be fine, test scores average toward high B. She is very helpful during office hours, though her office her office hours were difficult to attend this semester.
I thought she would have been a good teacher but after her lectures and doing our homework, you would be completely lost. The tests were so difficult and sometimes would be completely random and not discussed in class. Some topics would be of more importance and the tests were just not fair.
HORRIBLE!! ACC professors are well known for helping you succeed, not her! Does not take late work of any kind, no makeup tests, no extra credit, etc. The material is supposed to be "easy," but she will confuse you beyond return, then half the time does not know what she is talking about. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
Took Anne for Precal. Her class was extremely straight forward and simple. Your grade comes from HW, Tests, and Quizzes. The quizzes and optional review help to prepare for tests, which are usually easier than the actual review/quizzes. If you were awake for College Algebra and Trig then I don't see how you can't make an A in this course.
Anne has a desire to help students learn. She puts forth the effort to do whatever it takes to get the point across. If one method of teaching doesn't make it work for you, she will adjust her style. She doesn't think sing-song rhymes are beneath her if it helps you learn. I tried, and made an A where before, my highest math grade ever was a C.
There is a lot of work, but that comes with any challenging Math class. She's a great teacher, and approaches Math from many different angles (which is very helpful). I'd definitely recommend her to anyone. Do the homework and you should do well!
she is wonderful! I learned a lot about how to apply math to my daily life. You MUST attend class if you want to pass TAKE HER
Hate this class... DONT TAKE IT!!!! She teaches easy concepts in class and then expects you to understand everything on the homework... she makes you do 150 questions on mymathlab which is just busy work and your more worried about finishing it than actually doing it since your quiz doesnt open until you finish that stuff with an 80
ok prof
Clear, concise teaching style. Passionate about math, which really helps.
Professor Vance is very good at reading the class and understanding needs. She knows when to spend more time on a particular subject and when to move quickly on the easy stuff. Some teachers just expect you to keep up even on the hard stuff that may be new. Hats off to Mrs. Vance for keeping things balanced and explaining things thoroughly.
Not too easy but read her notes and you will Ace the test.
Miss Anne Vance is an incredible math teacher trust me. I am really bad in math but her teaching techniques amazed me . I now understand math and more confident in my problem solving skill. She dies give a lot of Home Work but overall her class was fun !!!!!
Super hot, really nice and helpful
Mrs. Vance is great because she gives you good examples and is easy to reach out to. However, math classes are not easy so you have to work a lot on the homework.
The best professor I have taken. Her lectures are taught in a cathing way. Very inspirational and descriptive. Lots of homework.
I am a student that has always struggled for an A in most of my math classes. Thus, I am so grateful to have taken professor Anne Vance for Calculus I and II. She teaches you how to: 1. Truly understand math concepts 2. Realize your studying style as a student. I realized I could be successful through office hours, the txtbook and LOTS of practice.
Amazing professor. If I could keep taking her until I was done, I would. She's enthusiastic about her subject, and she brings models to help the students understand the concept. There's extra credit on the tests and there should be no surprises (maybe the bonus). She is strict on showing proper steps in order to get the answer so watch out.
While she doesn't grade tough, you will hear her specifically say that she is "lazy" a number of times. Her lectures go over basics, but then the homework she gives out does get hard. She also springs quizzes on you out of nowhere and puts you through TONS of MyMathLab, so watch out. Do not take her unless you have a great grasp of Geometry first
A really nice teacher she gives you clear explanations and examples. Gives hw through mymathlab and turn-ins in class, do it as soon as possible so it won't stack up! People who usually struggle and complain are the ones who leave hw last minute and miss class :). Don't take this class if you don't intend to put in the work and time.
Very clear and informative lectures. Explains the material in depth and is helpful if you don't understand. Very nice and friendly.
She is a really nice professor, very sweet, helpful. However, she is a slow grader. She assigns a lot of homework, which covers more materials than the lecture. The only problem I had was I work during weekends and she assigned two of our test in the testing center which was difficult for me to manage since her tests were there from Friday-Monday.
Anne Vance is a delight. Really excellent professor who obviously enjoys teaching. Great at explaining tricky concepts with lucidity, and never balks at revisiting a topic. Seems very conscious of replying to questions and errors in a way that clarifies the misunderstanding without making anyone feel silly for their mistakes.
Professor Vance is respectful and kind but when it comes to helping students with a math problem she can get you easily confused. If you ask for help on a math question she responds with a question which is very frustrating.
If you actually want to learn the material covered in this class, Dr. Vance is the perfect professor to take. She adopts an inclusive and easy-to-follow learning environment for her students. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, she continues to teach exceptionally well and generate an atmosphere of motivated peers. I am so glad she was my Calc 2 teacher
I've taken Prof. Vacne from both Cal I and II, and she's probably one of the best professors I've had at ACC. She cares a lot about her students, and it shows. I don't recommend skipping lectures or homework, as its the best practice for what you'll see on her test.
not super difficult, but is really strict about showing every single step of your work
Great professor, If you work hard to go over study material you will have no problem acing the test. Never expect think outside the box sort of questions, the test questions are straight forward and easy if you know what you are doing.
Professor Vance is an excellent professor. I took Calc 2 with her. She explains subjects with great detail and if you have questions she will give you a direct answer. During a week homework would consist of an online assignment and a written assignment. Some weeks would have a refinement assignment. There is also a makeup grade assignment.
Professor Vance was an awesome teacher. I had multiple problems accessing the online textbook, and she helped me through it. Whenever I had questions about the material, I could easily ask her and she would help me. I would definitely take her again.
I loved taking Calc 2 with Prof. Vance. She is caring and funny. Her classes are dynamic, which says something during COVID times. Her tests are not easy, but they are compatible with what she puts on the homework. She explains the topics thoroughly and is always available for questions during her office hours.
Totally recommend! I am horrible at math and got a 98 in the class. As long as you do the notes she gives out, you will do well.
Take Vance if you get the chance. She is probably the best math teacher I've had in college. She explains concepts extremely well and is really nice.
Professor Vance is amazing. She helped me to gain a deeper understanding for mathematics. If you are looking for a class that will just give you an A, then don't take her. You will need to read and do assignments and put an effort to understand if you are wanting to EARN an A and a great education. 10/10 I would take her again.
She was an alright teacher, there were times where she blindsided us and didn't have a great attitude. Though, she wasn't originally supposed to teach our class so I will give her that. Be ready for using 3+ different websites to turn in your works. Everyday class work, weekly online and weekly written homework. Tests are pretty hard.
Really great professor. My favourite part is that she will review a little past knowledge from HS that we may have forgotten to help us understand the present material. Fair grader and always more than willing to help and explain if you don't understand something.
I loved having Professor Vance! She was a fantastic teacher and really put in the effort to ensure we understood the course material. I would absolutely take her class again.
Professor Vance taught Calc 1 for the first half of my class during the summer. She was very helpful and respectful to the students and I never felt like she talked to down me even when I asked dumb questions. Sadly, she only taught the first half of the class. If you can get her for a full session take it, otherwise skip.
This class was so hard as a freshman in college. There was little to no support on ANY of the assignments. Theres no options for late work, and the lessons are really hard to learn because she gives you about an hour in each class even though they are 2 hour classes. Dont recomend taking this class, PLEASE LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really loved her lectures, easy to understand all the concepts and there was lots of homework to practice from. Tests were easy if you took the time to understand all the material. I really improved through the course of taking her class, would recommend to take her if you really want to learn math.
Do not take Prof. Vance if you aren't willing to put in the work. She is a very tough teacher but she is an amazing teacher who actually knows how to teach. She makes you really understand the math and not just rely on your calculator. Beware that there are two different test for every unit a calculator part and non calculator part.
Tests are 60% of your grade which makes it impossible to raise your grade after barely passing 1 or 2 tests. She gives out a lot of pages of homework but it barely adds anything to your grade and you will be burn out. At times she did not fully go over the content in her lectures so youre better off watching YouTube tutorials
This is not a easy class. You really have to work to gain an understanding. Not sure what the other reviwes are talking about when they say she "does'nt know math", she is the exact oppsite of that. Very avabilve when it comes to emails. Homeworks are in the textbook, which can be long if you dont work on them throughout the week.
While her class is challenging, Prof. Vance is a fantastic teacher. She explains things clearly and always ensures you know what she expects. If you practice consistently, you will do well in her class. I highly recommend her.
Professor Vance was a fantastic professor, she helped me learn new techniques for early childhood math. sometimes you have 1 written hw and online hw due one week, other weeks you have 2 written hw and online hw (Prof. Vance gives you a sheet so you could stay on top) Uses Gradescope to grade, VERY IMPORTANT TO READ HER COMMENTS!
Professor Vance really cares about her students. She is more than willing to meet during office hours and responds quickly to emails. She likes students to participate and engage, and gives you all the resources you need to perform well in her class. Stay on top of the homework and turn your assignments in on time and you will do great!
Teaches the class like a high school classroom, not what I was expecting in college. Active participation required, group assignments, and presentations in a math class?? If you like that style of teaching then take this teacher.
I think she is an awesome teacher. Super helpful. The amount of curve balls on the tests is what caught me every time. Not really knowing how to prepare for the test was really stressful. I took a scattershot approach on how to study & prayed for the best. Then the test would lean heavy on one of the 9 chapters the test was over.not my cup of tea
There is no Study-Guide for the Test(PreCal), so best go to a tutor right after class. She's awesome. Really helped me understand the Math at a deeper level. I came out of this class knowing how to do Math with no calculator. Sucked A** at first, but I see the value in the skill set now. Practice the Word problems! like alot lol
Fantastic for your education, bad for your GPA. Taken classes at TAMU, UT, & ACC and she's one of the best lecturers I've ever had. The downside is exams count for 80% of the course grade (exams are also very hard). I've never seen that and for a STEM class that already has a difficult reputation, it's a little ridiculous. Little to no extra credit
Prof Vance has amazing lectures and really cracks you down on the content. I feel like I have a rigorous understanding of Cal 2 and is an amazing person. Tests are a large portion of the grade but if you study well, you will succeed. Must do the homework to be succesful.
I took her class for Precalculus and Calc 1, and as someone who didn't take high school math, they were some of my easiest classes at ACC. Yes, your grade is almost entirely made up of the tests. But she explains things in an easy to understand way, and if you do your homework and actually try, the tests are easy too. They're straight from the HW.
If you work and are taking other classes, you have to put the work in or you will fail. I think that if you are only taking one class then you should be fine. Her teaching skills aren't bad, but she did fall behind the schedule. You will have to find external help because she goes way too fast in the lectures.
Tough but fair Professor. Expects written homework, but I'm not sure why this wouldn't be required in every math class given how much its helped me personally improve math.
if I could i would rate her a 3-4 she a good person and cares about her students, you do need to put in the work. STUDYYY for test and do the homework. if you are confused about something its important to ask and she will answer. she has 4 test and a few quizzes and homework each week 2 projects. not hard but do put in the work :)
super nice, patient, and kind. will def try to explain if u ask questions, some jokes in class. BUT this is a hard curriculum and this class def wont be an easy A. she expects u to take it seriously, tests are kinda hard. try to keep up wiht lecture, diligently do the hw, should be good
