Prescott inspired me to do well in school & motivated me to express myself through my writing. I took her as a freshman and to this day (senior) she remains in the top 5 in teaching and #1 in motivating me.

Extrememly intelligent, helpful and highly motivating. Her influence has stayed with me long after my short semester with her. She will indefinitely remain as one of the most intruiging professors long after my academic career is over. MKT

The single best professor I had at Hunter College (or anywhere else for that matter). She was constantly bouncing off the walls, but class discussions were always interesting, and I learned a lot. Two papers and a final and midterm. Participate, pay attention, and get an A.

Best professor ever. She is open to all ideas and really makes you think. She made me understand material I used to have trouble with. She's really fun and lively. She gives a reasonable amount of work and is a really fair grader. Every professor should be like her.

She is a great professor who is open to anything a student has to offer. she is enthusiastic as well. only one bad thing to say about her. She is LOUD. she yells and screams a lot, which can be very horrific when hung over in her class.

Great and intelligent professor. She talks about everything in class. Thats al;l she really does. Barely gives any work. Just one paper. Midterms and finals are easy and shes lenient in grading.

Professor Prescott is a trip! Yes she does yellHer class was highly informal and very enjoyable. She is brilliant in an accessible way - she uses plain language to explain abstract and profound subjects. The midterm and Final are open text. She is honestly interested in her students and makes it possible for them to express themselves and do well.

She's loud and opinionated and she wants you to be that way too. She wants you to think not just agree with her. You can say whatever you want just as long as you can back it up. For lit I wasn't even sure I could read much less like, she has opened a whole new set of authors for me. Exams are fair, open book, keep the reading and you are OK.

This woman is an absolute joy! She loves literature so much and her passion compels her students to do the same. Take her if you have the chance. By far the best professor I have had at Hunter College. Keep in mind, you have to do the reading. She expects participation and if one hasn't done the reading, one cannot keep up.

ive learned more from her than all of my classes combined. shes extremely intelligent and you can learn a hell of a lot from her. shes easy going and treats students with respect, but she won't put up with BS!

Best professor encountered at Hunter. She is direct, approachable, concerned about her students, and interested in provoking discussion. And her material selection is phenomenal, particular in traditional English composition. Just make sure you do the reading and occasionally look up the terms and concepts you don't understand. A+ for Prescott.

I really recommend her -- She sees you as a human being first before a student, which is rare! gives a midterm, final, and one paper. Grades fairly; however, she's very anal about punctuation, spelling, and neatness -- specifically on in-class essays. So be mindful of that.Participation helps. Overall a very knowledgeable and kind individual.

Professor Prescott is really clear with her assignments. She's awesome in class and really encourages participation, but doesn't penalize if you don't. She's an easy grader and gives pretty simple papers. I definitely recommend her!

Formidable Professor in terms of her mastery of historical and classic works. Egotistical and condescending at times, but in the style of a dominatrix holding a PHD.

Laud, definitely smart. But there is only one correct interpretation of every piece of writing. And guess who knows the best which one is it? Interestig class though, and you will learn a lot, but don't count on easy grade

One 5-7 page paper for the whole term based on anything you want. The class is definitely engaging while not too much work. She's very clear, direct, quickpaced, enthusiastic and really made all the texts a lot of fun. She knows a lot about history, literature, etc which might be intimidating but also very helpful. Not very open to interpretation

She's a good teacher but not very creative. All she does is talk about the obvious themes in the literature. She says participation isn't necessary but if you don't participate you probably won't get an A.

Loved her class. She's a wealth of historical facts relevant to literary context- made me really wish I'd paid more attention in 9th grade global history! Very clear about what she wants you to know, tells you exam essay topics & 1 paper on a topic of your chooice. Participation and punctuality are important. A funny, caring & brilliant professor!

This is my second class with Dr. Prescott...she's fantastic. She's very clear, and she stresses class participation but doesn't take off points if you don't. As long as you do the reading, you'll definitely do well. I recommend her for any course.

Crystal clear. A person cannot get clearer than Professor Prescott. You can hear her from the other side of building. No, but seriously, she is a great Professor. A fair grader, always makes office time, her jokes are funny, and she makes the class interesting to sit through hour fifteen minutes.

Prescott is brilliant. She knows English Literature inside and out. You will become enlightened to some of the most important writings in existence. She can be gruff, but is actually kind and not a hard grader. Her classes are NEVER boring. If you email her or see her during office hours, she will help you. Don?t take anyone else for 338!

A loud professor - in both volume and opinion (which can get a bit grating at times). Nevertheless, it was a delight being in her class, listening as she effortlessly jumps from topic to topic (never in a meandering manner) that range from history to religion, mythology, science, and etc. Overall, an impressive professor.

she's very knowledgeable and isn't afraid to let you know it. though she is loud and calls you out for lateness and inattentiveness, she's really nice and understanding and wants you to do well. not much of a debater, what she says goes, which is okay since she backs her argument with evidence. midterm and final. i would take her again

she's a cool professor. i had her for english 338, we read beowulf, king lear and paradise lost. she LOVES paradise lost so fyi pay more attention to paradise lost and voice your oppinion on this reading and she'll like you. participation is required to get a good grade. overall she's a pretty fair grader.

I took her for Milton. At first, I was intimidated and was going to drop the class b.c of how intense she seemed (and is), but decided not to and am so glad. This class was my favourite of the semester, the reading was so much fun and discussion was endless. She's incredibly knowledgeable and I would definitely take her again. Highly recommended

She's demanding and serious and hard but if you work hard and read the material and comment, you'll get your A; also don't comment like an idiot, really think in her class, she likes daring people. initially class seems like it can get boring.. but if you do the reading and think about the material your bound to do well. she encourages everyone to participate and back up their understanding. Knowledge on the subject is extensive; she gives out both midterm and final exam questions before giving time to prepare. overall a great teacher

Dr. Prescott is one of (if not THE) best English Professor at Hunter College. The depth and clarity in which she teaches the texts are amazing and eye-opening. I gained an appreciation of literature I would otherwise have been blind to in her classes. She has a following, once you take her classes you don't want to go back!

Professor Prescott is a wonderful and insightful teacher. Yes, she does call on people, but that's the good part of the class: she isn't just listing facts for us to record and memorize. All of the ideas pretty much come from the class. Fair grader. Highly recommended.

The best professor I've ever had! Definitely knows her history & makes the most boring stuff, fun & interesting. She is completely dedicated to her work, and expects you to be dedicated to yours as well.

She's a little close minded when it comes to ideas that differ from her own. otherwise, her class was very easy. she gives you the exam topics ahead of time and is not a harsh grader. she does call on you whether or not you raise your hand, but she doesn't penalize you if you have nothing to say. overall, a pretty good choice.

Had her for two classes and she's great. Really knows the subject matter and pushes for participation. No written homework, just read. Let's you know the midterm and final prompt ahead of time and a research paper due fairly early. Completely reasonable and provides lots of background information for British literature, culture and history.

Puts readings into context based on historical background. Gives constructive criticism. Lowers grade for excessive absences. Class participation enforced. Calls on people.

Amazing professor! She is very clear on what she wants. Just make sure you participate (preferably daily) as this will really count during her grading at the end of the semester. She is very lenient but do not take advantage of that by skipping class many times or writing horrible papers. Tests were open book! Loved her class and learned a ton too!

She is a lovely professor. At first she comes off as really intense but that's only because she is so passionate and knowledgeable about the material she assigns. She likes to pick on random people but it's okay if you don't want to share your opinion (or just don't know the answer). She's super cool and taking her class is super worth it.

She is amazing. Cares about your education. Took her class on Milton and it was the best thing I've done. Easy work, READ of course. That wont be a problem if you're a fan of Milton's work. Midterm essay in class, one5-7 research paper and a final essay in class. She equips you well in the topics, so the essay tests are not a problem.

Dr. Prescott is one of a kind. She is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and she makes this clear during every class discussion. You will randomly call on students just to get their insight, however, you are not obligated to say anything. There is one midterm exam, a term paper, and a final exam write like a college student, and it's an easy A.

She's a tornado and I like her a lot! She whips through the readings and gives side articles and relates it all to history. It's quite fascinating listening to her wrap it all together. She encourages dialogue and to engage with her. Approachable as well.

one of the best professors i've had at hunter. super knowledgable and gives really interesting historical background for each author's time period. it is hard to make poetry interesting (in my opinion) but she did that very easily. VERY smart and lenient on due dates. she makes participating less daunting and gives great analyses on the readings.

She makes reading early British lit enjoyable. She is a good guide that helps you navigate the text and gain a deeper understanding of it. She is also very passionate about the material and that makes for interesting lectures! Was only graded on two essays, but this was for a summer course, so for fall or spring semesters this could differ.

Dr. Anne Prescott is a very knowledgeable person and highly efficient teacher. She is extremely respectful of her students, encourages them to participate, and values their opinions. A no-nonsense person but also very caring and approachable. (Tips: Do not skip classes unless you absolutely have to. Do the readings regularly. Try to participate.)
