BEST prof u can take for music. altho the rest of the class may be asleep at 8 in the morning, she's just 'chipper.' easy tests.
Great teacher, coems in early to help you if anything, tests are easy, drops lowest grade, easy grade
No Comments
Best professor ever!!!!
Def. the best professor ever. i dont think she ahs a mean bone in her body!!! i have a 100 average and i havent openned the book. easy A, she really explains the material and gets you get into the music. DEf. recommend her!
Yeah the class is easy because she explains it so well and she drops the lowest grade.. though i'm only getting a B+ since i'm horrible with music but thats me! She's very helpful and even has an extra credit project!
3 test+ final. Lowest grade gets dropped. Extra credit project is available too. What can I say, she is the best prof to fill MSC/ART/THE requirment.
She's super nice. Easy material cause she explains everything clearly so take notes cause the exams come from her lectures. But the exams are easy.1 quiz, 3 exams drops lowest grade. You pay attention in class & take good notes you'll get an A like I did.
Really great prof. More prof should be like her..she's very clear and detailed in what she wants and explains material well, dont need to read the book, just take good notes and u can get an easy A
nice, easy, helpful, interesting, happy person and teacher
More professors should be like her. She understands students and has probably one of the sweetest attitudes of any other professor. Her overall respect towards students is outstanding, easy exams, and overall excellence! :) Tx for the class.
i dont understand how people dont get good grades in this class. EXTREMELY easy. i see retards geting low grades. great teacher. instilled an interest in music for me. i got almost perfect on every test got an A ;]. must take her. go minor in music
Prof Swartz is one of the sweetest and most understanding teachers I have ever met. Her lectures are very thorough-so the tests are easy as long as you take good notes (and she also makes the note-taking easy too). If you want to do well, take her class
SHE IS A RELLY GOOD PROF. IF I HAD THE CHANCE I WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN. EASY A. JUST TAKE NOTES. TRUST ME YOU WONT REGRET TAKING HER. SHE IS SO NICE AND UNDERSTANDING.
Extremely nice professor, there are only three tests, forth is optional, very easy "A"
Prof. Swartz is an excellent instructor. Attend every class, take detailed notes, listen to the assigned pieces, study and I guarantee, you will receive an A. She inspired me and my son who is only 2 years old to have an appreciation for music. Awesome!
Peppy and easy -- what more could you ask for if you take her in the morning? Book was useless as her lecture/notes tell all (didn't open it) but the CDs it came with are valuable for the listening portion of tests. Take notes, listen... a breeze!
she's the nicest prof. she's soo easy but u have to be in class to take good notes. she pretty much gives u the test in her review. she was really very caring n will help u if u have a prob. take her.
I took her spring 2004. She is easy. Do your work and take notes in class. She is very easy. Easy A. Tells you exactly whats on the exams. there are three exams and a chance to improve your grade with a paper.(adds extra three points)
Great teacher, very easy class, she's so adorable. She teaches the class on the level of Kindergarten. You're guaranteed to get above a B.
She is about 7/10 in terms of lecture but her exam is way toooo detailed. You have to basically remember every line of the book if you want to do well. It makes it very hard to do well in the exam. Unless you love to read, you may want to avoid this prof.
As long as you study and listen to the required music, this class is a very easy A. She is so sweet and cheery to the point you wana laugh at how high off life she is. Plus she drops your lowest exam grade.
Very easy teacher. Tests are straight from the notes and are very easy. She drops the lowest test grade. Gives optional extra credit paper. Very easy A even if you don't like music.
This is one of the best professors. I would definately recommend her. She is so sweet. She cares about her students doing well. Just make sure you take notes in class and do the listening and you're guaranteed an A. Very peppy and energized!
SHE'S A SWEETHEART AND AN EASY A YOU DON'T REALLY NEED THE BOOK JUST PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE NOTES AND YOUR GOOD
I don't know why but I was digging this class. she has a deep appreciation for music as a whole. I enjoyed this class
I'm 100% honest. This prof's lectures are fine. If you into music as little as I was, you would enjoy the class. BUT when it comes to exam unless you can memorize the chapters A-Z word for word you will do bad. I hate to read & specially if I am required to memorize every word. Now choice is yours.
She is one of the best professors I've ever had. She really cares that everyone learns from her class. There's no musical background required. As long as you listen to her and take notes, you're guaranteed a B+ or above.
She is a very nice professor who knows her stuff. She loves class participation (which will def. boost your grade!). Make sure she knows who you are because that gives you extra brownie points. She understanding and her test are pretty easy (short answer and essay).
all you have to do is take notes and a day before the test study everything for about 2 hours and expect an A
Easy A, loved the class. You don't need the textbook. Just do the listening and take good notes. Study the night before the easy exam and you're sure to get an A.
she covers the material in class, but for an intro course, it is a bit much. and she should definitely not be giving a cumulative final. you have to study the material from the whole semester, while trying to take some other real finals! its very annoying.
She really loves the subject, and it shows. She is very helpful, and actually seems to care about her students. The class is easy if you study, and or pay attention in class, but she does count spelling on tests, which I found a bit irratating.
A wonderful teacher !
Professor Swartz is easily the greatest professor at Baruch. Nearly impossible to not get a 90+ on exams. Sweetest woman you'll ever meet! A must take for any music class!!!
Really nice Prof. Really sweet too and her test are really fair. You all can do good if you study
excellent teacher, she is very nice and upbeat even at 8 in the morning, very helpful, offers extra credit, and ask if anyone has questions on stuff from the last class, at the beginning of every class, no multiple choice on the tests, but they werent too hard if u study, 10 listening quest, 10 1-word anser questions and a 40 pt essay, reccomended
She is the nicest, sweetest professor you will ever have. Such a great professor. Her class was easy and she doesn't ask for very much at all. There is virtually no reason why anyone should fail her class. She is understanding and really good... I would take another class that she teaches if I have the chance to.
She is such a nice prof and an super easy grader too. she explains the material clearly and tests are very straight forward. I got all A's on my 3 chapter tests and that's an automatic A for the semester without having to take the final!! She'll be extra nice to you if you speak up during class often. Definitely take her for 3000 level courses.
she is so passionate towards music that you really can't hate her she love what she does. very nice towards students. for her tests you do need a whole day of study in order to do well it covers alot of information and can have very tricky short answers questions
She is an amazing professor. Do whatever you can to make sure you take her.She is very clear, covers everything when she says she will and is an easy grader. Just show her you're trying and she'll do what she can to get you an A. 3 exams and a final. Can drop either the lowest exam or the final, optional extra credit if needed. The class is a joy.
The greatest professor and very nice person as well. Class is not hard if you study and take notes. She's very fair with grading. Very interesting course, highly recommend!!!
she is sooo sweet. a great tacher. I wanna take her again.
she is excellent, great, supereb, and you tell me the all good words, and she is all that,, i have never seen such a nice person in a teaching profession. Guys, if u take an elective take msc 1005 with her, i hated music history i am an accounting major but loved the way she wld teach and explain, got an A. she is rellay the nicest person at baruch
Great professor. Great class. I enjoyed this class so much that I'm taking her again for MSC 3004. She is simply the best.
don't think music is an easy class. She just teaches us in a very easy way.You can read on your own but will take 3 hrs to get the point she explained in class. So attendance is important in understanding the material & to get good grade.Choice of 4 exams, drop the lowest grade. If you cannot get A from her class something is seriously wrong with you.
EASY CLASS. You just need to memorize the notes and some musical vocabularies.
She is such a wonderful professor. Shes is very enthusiastic about her teaching. All you have to do in this class is study her notes and pay attention and you will get an easy A like i did! Take her if possible!
this is a great professor. take her if you want easy A. All you have to do is pay attention in class and take notes. Final is optional. Three easy exams from notes. Do not buy book, is not necessary. I never opened it and got A. You have to be stupid if you need to study hard for this class. Good luck!!! She is very sweet.
Excellent professor. The best I have come across so far at Baruch.
Excellent Professor, she's so nice I actually ran into her today and wished I was still in her class. Anyone that says anything derogatory about her probably is crazy, loved her and her class.
Go to class and take notes. That's all you need to do. BEST professor. VERY helpful. The textbook and listening material are great and she makes it easy to understand everything. TAKE HER -- TAKE HER -- TAKE HER. Easy A and a fun class.
Everything she says in class is covered in the text, so don't waste your time attending lecture. Just read the book and listen to the cds for the tests. Her test questions are way too specific, you will have to read the chapters word for word if you want an A like everyone else. Attendance not mandatory. She is not easy A like everyone else says.
Nice lady, but the class is dull. Everybody here says guaranteed A, but I don't think so. The questions require you to read the text carefully because she will ask you some questions about these minor points. Satisfied with my grade, she is much better than the confusing Prof. Hill, but I would liked to have received an A.
Great preofessor. She may seem a little hippie but she loves her career in music. She gives great notes, pay attention to detail. Try Not To Fall Asleep lol. being an ealry morning class one can eaily get tired. The exams are common sense. You really dont need the text book, take good notes. If you happen to need the text borrow it from the library
I love her...she is so nice and helpful - definetly reccommend!
TAKE HER!!! She's the best professor!!! no need to buy textbook, just take notes and attend the class. 3 tests. She drops the lowest score, final is optional. Easy A
This professor has the most unfair grading procedure i ever encountered.A C is anything from 77 down to 40 Not Lying. And if you don't have music background this class is going to be hell very detailed exams. And the worst part if you average 77-75 you still getting the same grade as person averaging 40. TAKE ART HISTORY OR DRAMA INSTEAD
Wow, what an energetic/ enthusiastic professor and person. She really loves what she does, an expert in her field. Class is very structured, attendance is somewhat necessary, the book is not needed. She tells exactly what is to needed to know for exams. Having her at 7:50 was a joy, always something jolly and out of the ordinary from her. Got an A. :)
Romantic period, Beethoven, Listz, Chopin, Berlioz, among others. Write DETAILED notes, anything she says can be on the test, literally. READ the HISTORICAL WINDOWS!! that is very imp. 3 Exams and Final, Exams are like 10 short answers, about 3 from the historical window also 1 essay for exam.
Very kind and class was pretty easy. Got an A. Final is optional. Just do good on the 3 tests during semester so you don't have to take the Final. Great class to raise your GPA.
She is a super nice lady, but her tests are very specific and take much if your time, even when you do study and think are prepared, you will be surprised by how specific some of the questions may be. I got a C for a music class in a business school. I dont agree with the comment below, it lowered my GPA. But this woman really is kind and understan
She is probably the nicest and most understanding lady in Baruch. If you have any problem, feel free to either email her or talk to her after class. YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS!! ALL materials are cover in class, so just take good notes (everything she says). If you do this you won't even need the book.
3 in class tests. final is optional. basically best out of 4 test. dont need the book, just need to take good notes. maddd easy take her.
Her class is really easy. Before coming to the class, im so scared bcuz i have no music background. But she makes the class interesting. Easy A, if u DO STUDY.
I've taken two of her classes. She is a sweet and brilliant woman and has relatively interesting lectures. Always willing to go back and re-explain things, and demonstrates some concepts on the piano and by singing(don't be surprised when she bursts into song). Easy grader. We used the same book for 2 classes, never opened it, Got 2 A's.
the BEST professor in baruch. very easy and understanding. took her freshman year for intro and taking 2 of her other courses now. very inspiring and I have a huge inspiration for music now thanks to her.
Professor Swartz, was probably the easiest class I have taken in Baruch, because she doesn't want to make the class stressful for bus students. Besides that she made the class somewhat interesting and she is really nice. The good thing is you only need to take 3 out of 4 tests. Whoever says she is bad is crazy, Definitely a must take!!!!!!!!
A really sweet lady that cares for her students. I didn't buy the textbook but you need to take good notes and the final is optional. There are 3 tests and its listening, short answers, and etc. Make sure you study and memorize everything and you'll get a good grade. She takes attendance and does reviews.
She is definitely one of the best professors in Baruch. I was dreading taking music, but I loved this class. She makes it fun, interesting, and not too difficult. If you memorize all the definitions and listen to the music, the exams are easy.
She is a great professor. I'm taking her now and both my tests are in the 90s so far. Occasionally she has good jokes, but she loves what she teaches which is great. I think I'm going to take her next class
Professor is very easy and crystal clear. Always reviews material from previous class sessions and entertains the class with guest performers and movies. Exams are heavily based on memorization.
Music is a easy class and the professor is really passionate about the class. She is really nice and seem like a really nice person. She will show movies and have special performance by students sometimes. That all being said the test is easy but you have to cramp a lot of information and you have to write essay for the test too but should be easy
Very easy and nice; she comes off a little ditzy and maybe overly enthused but it's an easy A. I took it my last semester and didn't regret it.
Chairman of the Music Department and an excellent professor. Gives you extra credit points on exams for participating in class. Oh yeah, she hates Justin Bieber. LOL.
Honestly, She's just an amazing teacher who cares about her students. Her skills in piano are breathtaking, especially when she plays Chopin. As for her exams, she reviews exactly what's on the exam the class before. Just pay attention and don't be rude in class because she deserves the same respect that she gives to her students!
Everybody has to take this class anyways, so why not take this professor. There are 4 exams in class, the lowest one is dropped. Almost everything on the exams is listed on the class syllabus, so just take good notes in class. Do not even bother buying the book. She repeats herself a lot just in case you didn't take notes the first time. take her!
The best music professor, she gives all the definitions that she expects u to know for the test and tells u what she is looking for in the songs, rather than leave u guessing. She is funny, interesting and cool. I began to be so interested in music after taking this class, love professor swartz!
She is an AMAZING PROFESSOR & great LADY. She is passionate and knowledgeable about Music. I was excited and enjoyed every class. I was sad when the course was over. You can't ask for a better music professor.
She's such a sweet person, and will always try and help you out! She's cares about how you do and if you participate in class you'll be on her even better side since 3 exams make up your grade, no HW. Excellent professor and definitely recommend!!
Professor Swartz is a sweetheart. Always available to answer questions before and after class. Very clears exams and expectations.
Professor Swartz is a total sweetheart. She is very passionate about the material and tries to get the class excited about it as well. Very little reading for class, just take really good notes and pay attention and engage in class. She is extremely helpful and generous, just extend the same courtesy to her and she'll be understanding. Great lady!
An amazing professor. Really cares about you doing well. If you attend, take notes, and pay attention you'll be fine. Always there for you ready to help. You can tell how much she likes her subject and her students.
Professor Swartz is one of the best professors I had. She is passionate on what she teaches and she makes sure you know. I wish we had more professors like her at Baruch. She gives 3 exams and the final is optional if you like your grades in the first 3 exams. Pay attention in class and read the chapters before your tests and you will get an A.
Professor Swartz has to be the kindest, sweetest professor at Baruch. She genuinely cares about each of her students and wants everyone to do well. Her tests are very easy (just study your class notes and briefly skim over the textbook pages she tells you about) I got 100, 98 an 97 on the exams and I barely studied. She's amazing, take her.
Swartz was by far one of the BEST and most AMAZING professors I have ever taken at Baruch. I had the pleasure of having her for Music in the Romantic Period and Music in the 20th century and let me tell you, everything she taught us has stuck with me and I will never forget it. Amazing teacher AND amazing person!
I've taken two courses with Prof Swartz. She is the sweetest and super kind professor I've taken in Baruch thus far. She is very passionate with her teaching and very respected by students. Also, just take notes with her lecture and there will be NO surprise with exams. It's literally from the lecture and she gives exam review before the exam day.
Amazing professor. Make sure you take notes in the class.
She's an amazing professor who is passionate about music. Attend her lectures on time, take notes, read the textbook (it's not much reading compared to other classes), and you'll pass the exam with flying colors. I missed quite a few classes, but on the lectures that I missed, I caught up on the material by reading the textbook. Exam is open-ended
HIGHLY recommend if you have the chance to take her. Great lectures and very fair exams. Show up to class and take notes and you'll do well on the tests. She's very caring and makes sure that the whole class is on the same page.
Study and you will do fine
Really cool and easy class. Homeworks are just readings. Before an exam, she always does reviews. Three exams and a final. However, if you take the first three exams and you are satisfied with your grade you do not need to take the final. The three exam grade make up your final grade. Participation does not weigh but she'll call on people.
Ive now taken Prof. Swartz for two music classes, and each have always been a joy to go to. She tries, and succeeds, to get you actually interested in the music topic, by explaining the societal context, rather than piling homework and tedious tasks that professors need not use. The essays are great because you have creative freedom, great feedbak
I absolutely love this professor. She is so kind and wishes the best for you always. I could not ask for a better teacher! Take her classes!!!!!!!
I love her she's the best. Super understanding and tries hard to help you. Easy classes! She's kind just communicate with her. I'll miss taking her classes she's one of my favorite professors.
