She talks a lot and gives lots of notes. Easy.
she's very easy...study from the lectures, show up to class. easy A. she's flexible also, but dont push her buttons to far...
I thought she was very straightforward and graded fairly. I actually enjoyed the class
Midterm was a little hard but she is very nice!! Very understanding and straightforward...
Takes class way to serious and gives way too many notes. Class totally blows
No Comments
too many notes for a damn music class! plus class is boring as hell!
One of the dullest classes I have ever taken. Not an elective, takes up too much of your time outside of class as well, doesn't really teach, expects you to know a lot about music going into the class. Would not reccomend taking her.
shes goddamm STUPID! take her to pass, not to learn, shes a friggen idiot!
Great class. Alot of notes though. Filled up a two subject notebook. Really no assigned homework. Only to read over daily notes. Term paper required but it's an easy A. Gives outline of exams. Stresses music definitions alot on exams.
this class is for people who enjoy listening to bach, beethoven, and mozart all day long. mrs. tedesco is a very nice woman, but this class drags on and on, since all you discuss is twentieth century music. please take my advice and save yourself.
SHE IS A NICE PROFESSOR. EASY HOMEWORK, EASY QUIZZES (IF YOU STUDY)BUT WHEN SHE PLAYS THE PIANO SHE MAKES US WRITE WHAT NOTES SHE'S PLAYING. CRAZY!! IF YOU'RE PATIENT...EASY A
she's alright.. not real easy but not real hard. a lot of listening to do at home
DO NOT TAKE HER! SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH! ALL SHE DOES IS GIVE CRAP NOTES AND GETS YOU ON THE TEST, SHE DOESNT CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS IF THEY FAIL OR NOT..CHANGE THE TEACHER IF YOU CANNN!!!
Interesting- if music was my major/minor. She is very strict and specific about her music. If you don't like music, this is not your class. Tests are pretty average and the term paper, just enjoy the concert and write your impressions on it.
dont be absent cuz she doesnt help you out... LOTS of notes, but if you pay attention and take good notes, you'll do alright on the tests... term paper is easy.. shes kinda mean but if u participate she'll like you... dont be late either, she gets annoyed
tests are really hard b/c she doesnt give a review for it or good notes. she just talks about nothing and then gets you on the impossible tests. paper is easy - final is fair you should pass this class if you go.dont be late, shes tough but you can pass
she is horrible
Shes a B**CH.Hard as hell.Don't take her.All she does is talk about how good of a piano player she is.She gives u so much notes and none of it is on the test. She makes u go to a concert which is EXPENSIVE.i rather take organic chemistry again then her
She is all that they say but she broaden u 2 other things besides rap& rock&roll.U have 2 study 4 her test. She makes them into a BIG deal but there easy SOMETIMES.Go 2 class she takes attendance EVERYDAY.Don't be late cuz she HATES dat.LISTEN 2 da music
I hate this woman. She's cocky and self-centered and teaches her class that way. The class is simple if you care about learning how to notate music, but she makes it difficult by being a difficult person to like. Not many choices, but if you can, avoid.
::sigh:: once you get to know her she is a nice lady. But...she runs the class as if everyone knows this stuff already and that is a big problem. I would say if you do get stuck with her go to her the minute you see you're slipping that way at least she knows you try because she does take that int
Worst professor ever. thinks u should knoe eveything if u hab her drop it r pass/fail. shes crzy 4 papers and a journal and her quizes are so hard. Run Run dont take her. too much work 4 dis class. all time and work is based on this one stupid class
I admit she's really demanding, but she only demands when she thinks you can do it - so don't complain. It's actually a really big problem if she's not demanding ;) She inspired my music. She makes music so alive.

Hell of a pianist. Nice woman. I just wasn't ready to relearn that which I had forgotten. It was my fault. If you really want to learn piano, I recommend.
i got a F but she's cool
She's an alright teacher. Music Theory is going to be easy if you have a music background. but yea i agree she is selfcentered at times and treats the class like high schoolers. HW everyday but they're not that hard. Nice lady though.
Easy professor. Just asks you to listen to the cds that come with the book. You have to attend a musical event for your project. Although I must admit that she does brag about being such a good pianist.
she expects too much from non-music students. if music is a requirement for you don't take her class.
grat piano player...but she expects to much from her students...all i wanted to do is get out of her class and now that im dont with it...its great...do not take her class unless you know how to read and write music...its difficult to get an A...nice lady though...
PLEASE RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN FROM THIS CLASS! ALL OF YOU TAKE THIS ADVICE, IM A LIVNG EXAMPLE OF THIS TRAGEDY!!!!!
Very good teacher...but just be humble =)..and you'll learn a lot.
Not a bad class. One quiz, midterm, final, and one 3pg paper. As long as you do the readings you should be fine.I got a B+ in the class.
Matter of fact professor who really knows her stuff. I learnt alot.
She knows what she is talking about. If you have a question, she will answer it thoroughly. I rec. her. She made you attend two concerts (hers & another) but gave 10 points E.C. on the final for attending hers. As long as you do the listening, you will be fine. Class starts off slow but improves.
Just do what you have to do. Attendance may not matter because I was always absent and still received a grade of A minus. An easy grader when comes to the term paper as long as you include music terminology. The test may be hard if you dont read the textbook, unless you remember everything she goes over in class (which is easy) and listen to the cd
All in all not too bad. She is V. competent at her subjuct. 2 test one paper, 1 E.C. write up . Attendance is not big deal; was always absent and late and still received good grade. Read txt and and listen to CD. Only issue I really had w/ her is that she goes off topic too much. Great pianist though. I developed a new app. for Clas. music
She's nice. If you just study what you must listen to and study the vocabulary, you're set. The class is easy, just show up and pay attention. She repeats what you have to read for hw. The tests are a joke if you've been alive in class. She likes participation.
She is a great teacher. I really learned all about music and the notes and remembered everything. Her quizzes ar ethe homework, so if you od teh homework and understand it , you would pass the class with flying colors. Very talented woman!
Knows her stuff, loves music, but she is a terrible professor. She rambles on and on and on, usually about nothing important, and she's never clear on the requirements, especially for the term paper; even her exam questions are vague and are difficult as a result. Just take art.
I had her for Spring of '06. She was a little boring, but not hard at all. If you listen to what she speaks about, and take notes, you will think the tests are a joke. Listening to the CDs actually made me enjoy all the music. I got an A
this professor is horrible..she clearly stated that she is tired of college students and can't deal with them. thinks music should be everyone's life. takes attendance everyday. midterm, final, term paper, and made us go to her own concert. take art.
I had her for piano, and she is wonderful. She's nice, but really pushes you to do your best. Definitely take her if interested in piano.
She's great. She teaches straight from the book so that if you miss a class you know exactly what you missed. I'm not sure how you can not do well in this class...really...
She's a very good teacher. I do feel bad for the freshmen in this class, but if you really love music, you'll love this class.
Piano is wonderful with her. It takes a lot of work for a one credit course, but that's not the point. If you really want to learn to play the piano better, take it. If you're not ready to work, don't take it.
love her <333
She knows her stuff, loves music, its interesting to hear her talk about music. You must buy the book, its a necessity, and go to class, lots of info. Tests are easy, MC and listening section. Paper on a concert, you have to find a concert to go to outside of class.
Interesting course. Starts off slow and easy but as the class goes on, she moves much quicker and the material gets much more technical. Deff. an advantage to have some basic understanding of music prior. As long as you review notes and get help from her if you do not understand the material, you will get a decent grade. If you like music, take it
I used to love classical music until i came to this class. I was in a class with 50 freshman so she would take 20 minutes at the beginning of each class to ramble about nothing, she knows her stuff but is painfully boring, teaches right from the textbook, she is not helpful at all, if she played the piano more in class it would be interesting AVOID
She's not a bad teacher. She takes attendance all the time so you have to show up. Her notes are pretty easy to follow. Midterm and Finals are not bad. If you want to do well you have to go over the music pieces.
if you have a background in music it can be really boring at times. you do learn a lot though. you do have to take lots of notes, teaches right from the book, and listen to the listenings so that you can do well on the midterm and final. one concert critique paper too
This professor is a total waste of everyones time. She is very clueless. She believes that there is no recession, because she sees everyone still going to Avery Ficher Hall. She never hands back papers, she just gives it all back on the day of the final. If there is a problem, she will say that it is unethical to fix it after the semester ends.
If you're interested in the history of the arts, mainly music and art, then take this class. It's somewhat hard for those who have no musical or artistic background to learn at the pace taught but if you're willing and dedicated you'll do fine. The teacher herself is not that helpful which is part of the reason why the class is really annoying.
She writes very sloppy notes. She doesn't teach the course at a beginner's level. She gives a lot of homework. She will help you if you ask her. She should be an advanced music professor. It would be in your best interest to take this class if you already know about music.
SHE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I beg you, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF IF YOU HAVE THE CHOICE!!! I've been playing piano since I was a toddler, and I have such a love for classical music, but she made me HATE it for the entire semester! She is rude, and rambles sooo much! She never ends class early and barely prepares you for the test. TERRIBLE PROFESSOR!!
Don't do it to yourself. She expects a lot from you. And she is always complaining. If you know music feel free to take the class. If not DONT take the class. You will regret it. She is a hard grader. And if you dont have the textbook you wont pass. I'm warning you not to take the class and I passed. She speaks too damn much.
BRUH! This lady is interesting. I really fall asleep in her class everyday. I would not recommend this class for someone who wants a great GPA. This class will drag your GPA to the ground. She is Awful. Don't take her.
Let me set the record straight for this class, and I hope Professor Tedesco reads this comment. This is an INTRO to music, required elective course. My view of introduction courses is they should be welcoming, fun, and unique. This class is everything but. From day 1, she has emitted anger, cruelty, and a judge mental aroma to my class. (cont.)
This is not an easy class. You must attend every class to fully understand and pass the midterm and final. I enjoyed this class even though she does require a lot for an intro class. Really wants you to appreciate music and learn the basics. This was a mandatory class and I absolutely do not regret taking it.
Personally I find Tedsco a goof professor. It's clear she has a passion for music and she does try to make the class interesting. Not really hard to pass, maybe studying just a little bit will be enough to pass you with a good grade. However, she does assign hw at every single class meet but it's only to help for the exams.
She will expect Juliard material out of none music majors. She is rude, condescending, and easily annoyed. Try to take another class and avoid the aggravation of having to bite your tongue all semester so you don't flip out after one of her rude comments or spiteful grading. Go to the concert for extra credit not a nice person.
Music is my life. I've been playing piano for ten years and I was in band in middle school and high school. So with that being said, my background in music is pretty strong. However, that doesn't help you in Tedesco's class. She's absolutely boring. When it comes to quizzes and test, be prepared to write down WORD FOR WORD what she says in class.
Honestly she's the best! Even if you're someone like me who has no experience in music, she is really helpful. But one thing to keep in mind is that ATTENDANCE IS VERY NECESSARY!! Miss one class and you're already left behind! Bottom line is don't miss class (because she actually teaches a lot in a day) and you'll be fine!!
Prof. Tedesco was ok for me. Her class was a "Creative Process" class so it happens to go over music, art, theatre, and dance. It is more heavy in the music than art. If you have no background in school band, it'll be harder for you. We did not need to buy a book but she just said she's going to require it next year in 2017. she's easily agitated.
Professor Tedesco is rude, and disrespectful. She mumbles when she's teaching and is not clear when she speaks, and when you ask her to repeat what she said because no one heard her she will yell at you and make you look so dumb in front of the class. She wants you to write everything word for word that she said onto the test which is impossible.
I had her this semester for Piano I and it was honestly a pretty good experience! Though she can be impatient at times, she was generally caring and wanted to see your improvement throughout the class. The final is pretty simple and it will be something you've done in the semester so no worries! Just be punctual and practice!
The professor isn't bad at first. At first you actually like her, you think you're doing fine and then BOMB! As soon as the semester is closing in, she starts 10 different topics. If you already have a background in music go ahead take her course you'll probably get an A because the work is arguably not that hard. If you have no background. :/
She is not a bad teacher by any means, she tries to make things interesting when she goes to the piano for small examples which makes things a bit more enjoyable. Need to write down what she says word for word each class. Don't worry about doing the homework as she reviews it the next day in class anyways. Will give lots of bonus marks as well.
She started off the semester very slow, explaining all of the musical techniques and definitions. By the next week, it felt like she was teaching as if all of the students in the class had a musical background. I ended up withdrawing the class.
Professor Tedesco is a real doll. I absolutely loved taking her class! I'm not a fan of classical music but I did learn to appreciate it through taking this course. She expects you to bring the textbook to class and it makes it really easy to understand the music. Gives one paper and tests are nbd, just keep good notes.
Professor Tedesco honestly is a great piano professor. She really encourages you to keep working hard. Piano is not an easy instrument to learn, but taking Tedesco will definitely allow you to learn a good number of things. She is talented and has even performed in big venues.
Professor Tedesco was overall okay. The class was heavy and there was a lot of material to learn. I'd say if you take good notes and read the book, you will be good. She is keen on participation so if you don't, she will get irritated. She might seem rude but she is just super into music and wants us to learn it well. Overall, good class.
You need the textbook to pass the class, and you will take a lot of notes. She gives the class many chances for extra-credit. There are not a lot of tests. It is required to go to pick a concert that she will give information on and write a concert critique. There is a midterm and final exam. Do not take this class if you do not feel like working.
Lectures were painfully boring and long. Her tests and quizzes were really difficult and she's a super tough grader. In class she would just play music and then on the tests there were detailed questions on the composers and songs. She's also not very understanding, highly recommend not taking her class.
At first you may think shes not bad. She writes the music terms on the boards and goes over them. After the first quiz, she changes. Shes not like that anymore. All she does is mumble and play very loud music from the computer. Then her test questions go into heavy details about what she talked about. I highly recommend you DONT take her class.
The class was fair and I actually learned a lot in the class. Homework was given every class but it is meant to help you memorize all the notes. 3 quizzes, a midterm and a final. Pay attention in class and do the homework and it will be an easy A
Has no concept of where the students are at, rushed through really difficult topics constantly. She also talks very low and is pretty strict. However, if you do have an issue she can be understanding and tries to help if you go up to her individually.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY A BRAND NEW TEXTBOOK FOR THIS CLASS. $150 down the drain, I never used the streaming music that came with the new textbook( she strongly suggest you get the textbook for the streaming music). You can look up all the songs that you have to listen to on YouTube. Get a used text book or order one from Amazon.
She reads from the textbook and makes you feel stupid for not knowing certain things. No homework assignments, one paper, and three test, so very hard to improve grade. Tough grader.
It wasn't the worst class but if you could take anybody else for music, do that. lectures are boring and monotone and she seems to be all over the place with lectures. Not online savvy at all and does not utilize Canvas for homework. The study guides are not specific at all to the actual test.
She's not the best. She reads off the textbook every lecture and doesn't post anything online, and she whispers the entire time, making it so hard to understand what she is saying. I DO NOT recommend taking her classes by far the worst professor ive ever had!
