If you leave 5 min early she will mark you absent for the whole 2 hours
Obviously a very unhappy lady. AVOID THIS CLASS.
Not very nice, but means well. Don't recommend her...avoid if possible.

The class i had was new so she really didn't know how it was supposed to go but she's a good teacher. Fair on grading and will help you alot. when you finish class you'll definitly be able to speak in front of people.
STOP RIGHT NOW, hard grader, and very up tight avoid.
she is unorganized,unprofessional and Very uptight. Acts like this is the first time she has been in front of a class and she says she teaches because she likes it well I world peace but it there? she really needs to go back to the business world.
No grading method. If you don't do things her way, you can expect a disappointing grade, even if you're a good speaker.
she picks on students she doesnt like and she will give you a lower grade for just not liking you and is very unorganized
She is not a nice person. Dont waste your time, anyone is better than she is.
If you approach her after class, she will always help you, midterm was take-home/multiple choice/T&F bout 30 questions. bout 6 speeches total. doesn't stress minimum time. Stresses organization in speeches. Sometimes she comes unprepared though. Isn't as hard as everyone else says.
She is the worst prof. I've had in Pace. She likes all the boys and has favorites. She taped us making speeches and played it in class. Even if you are the best public speaker she will find at least 10 things that you did wrong. Do not take her

She can be so rude sometimes with her feedback. She definitely has favorites. She acts like she knows everything there is to know about public speaking, so she expects you to following her views accordingly. Takes all the fun out of the class.

she knows a lot about the subject but she's horribly disorganized, doesn't know how to handle her class, and makes life incredibly stressful for the students. do not take her for public speaking unless you absolutely have to...she piles on the work for something that should be an easy A.
To those who did poorly in her class, that justs means you were lazy. I admit she did give alot of speaches and manadatory is a must, but if you do everything she asked you got your A. Also that comment about her not liking femals especially if your good looking is B.S. she loved me =) Overall I highly recommend her.
She's a nice lady. At first, I thought she was mean and nasty. But as the semester progressed, she seemed to get nicer and nicer. I think if you show an honest interest in the class and are trying she'll do everything she can to give an A.
She an alright professor, but she takes public speaking too seriously, you wold think that it's a biology or chemistry class. Take her if you're ready to write a lot of speeches!!!!!
She is HORRIBLE!!!! Everything has to be her way or the high way... and she is not even very clear on what she expects of you. I busted my a** for this class, did everything she had said and i still just got a B. She is a very hard grader, has favorites, is disrespectful, and seems to enjoy putting her students down. Im pretty sure she teaches the COM 200. You will learn a lot. Pay a lot of attention in order to do things as she wants them. She puts equal importance to delivery of speech and the actual outlines created. Those speeches were harder than any essay i ever had to do. NOT for everyone (half of my class dropped it for being too early - stay awake)
I don't think anyone likes her. She's mean and rude. She'll cut you off during your speech to correct you instead of letting you finish. If you choose a topic for a speech there's no way she'll let you change it. She has favorites and I'm not one of them.
Stay away from this professor. I got all As on my speeches except one and she gave me a B+ for the year. She doesn't make any sense when giving directions and if you try to ask questions you will only get more confused. She is unfair. Stay away!
She is inconsistent, insensitive and rude. She pretends to use the textbook even the the large majority of the course material is common sense. She is, ironically, difficult to communicate with. She does NOT listen during speeches and makes rude comments. She is a terrible professor. STAY AWAY
Not always clear about what she wants. Make it easy on yourself and just do what she wants and don't argue with her. She can be super nice but doesn't seem to do well with defiant students. Make sure to follow outline examples and instructions. Final/Midterm = easy A for 10% of your grade and 10% for attendance
Did not give a clear explanation of any task all semester. Cannot understand how she grades.If you try to clarify something she will simply state that she has been doing this for 16 years and you are wrong. Is often very rude, makes students do tasks for her. The class has nothing to do with how to give a good speech it is only about outlines.
Although this class was not difficult, Professor Joseph was outstanding. She is a tough grader but gives you ample amount of time to get help from her as well as go over your assignments in class. She is strict but one of the best Professors I've ever had at Pace.
BAD PROFESSOR
Absolutely fantastic teacher. Really funny, kind of teases you and the whole classes, and makes everything relaxed. She knows what she's talking about and it's a relatively easy class as long as you show up and listen to her. Great teacher, really
Was really one of the best professors I had at Pace. Annette not only helped me on my organizational skills, she also helped me have an awesome job interview which ultimately landed me the job. I am so glad I took her class. She is not the easiest grader but works with you in order to get you to be the best you can be. She is also very funny.
Best professor at Pace! She is a hard grader, but is very clear of what she expects from you. Her public speaking class definitely had a lot more HW then the rest, but worth it
This professor doesn't teach how to give good speeches. To pass this class, you have to write bad speeches that follow her criteria. She can be rude and interruptive. You'll probably hate this class. Don't take it early in the morning.
This is a special teacher. She is very funny and makes the lectures amazing. You wont fall asleep in this class for sure. She is kind of a tough grader, and it is a lot of tasks to do.
She's a nice woman but can be stubborn at times. Often will cut off students mid-speech, but not always necessarily a bad thing. A lot of extraneous floof that she demands of her students as well

Extremely rude. She will NOT let you speak even if she personally asks you a question. Cuts everybody off even during speeches just to show she knows something. Basically just learned how to write outlines, not public speaking. I dont mind her giving harsh feedback for speeches, but in normal talking she will constantly interrupt you. AVOID!!!!!
Professor Jospeh is a funny, caring professor. She knew each and every student by name within the first two weeks. The bad reviews on here are 100% just from students who did not follow her outlines on blackboard for each speech - her grading is very clear! She does not cut students off unless they are completely messing up. I highly recommend her!
She is extremely rude and condescending. A lot of what she says doesn't even make any sense, she just wants to sound superior and knowledgeable. A lot of confused looks shared around the classroom. She will interrupt you during your speeches and during casual conversation. She is a tough grader and will even contradict her own grading criteria.
Prof. Joseph is fine. If you do the work and apply her notes you should be okay in her class. If you can find a professor for Public Speaking that has great ratings take them instead of her, but you will be okay if she is who you end up with. Just put in effort and be respectful.
AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAGUE. She does NOT give clear indications on what you are expected to do and is a condescending know it all. If you can find another professor PLEASE do. She expects you to read her mind and doesn't teach you. She literally YELLED at me for not being able to find something in the Classes software. I wish I could drop class.
Do professors take a class on how to interact appropriately or give constructive criticism? This professor's style shows she needs to take one! Students can't openly speak out without being reprimanded. It's a PUBLIC SPEAKING class but students can't openly speak out because she typically doesn't encourage a positive learning environment.
She isn't the worst, but definitely isn't the best. If you have the choice of another professor, take it. She keeps students after class every class to talk, but then she will still reprimand and be rude to students' faces during class. The instructions she gives are very unclear and change guidelines and due dates often.
The worst professor I've had so far. Cares far more about personal agenda then improving students communications ability. Easily hardest class I took this semester and by far the hardest grader I've ever had especially because I toke this class remote. Impossible to get 100 “no one here can earn 100 there is always places to be better.”DO NOT TAKE
