she never really seemed to know how to explain things and was constantly going back to correct mistakes she made on the board. When u didnt understand what she was trying to explain she'd get really frustrated when you'd ask her questions.

Rolling her eyes, a smile that suggests she is stepping down to your intelligence level, shotgun approach to the whiteboard. If you like to SELF TEACH, this is the class for you!
She better not to teach because what she does in the class is just wasting the students' time. She is always late to class too.

teaching skills i find severly lacking. takes forever to return stuff, she is never on time, her grading policies are unfair, no curve, tests out of 6, % is out of 100pts when calculating your final grade, i'd say more this text box is rather limiting.
Squirres doesn't know how to do test scores. Shes not recommended for anyone.

Her class is okay. she doesn't explain well at all,and her computer program is a joke, but she does offer book hw. i would reccomend a different math 60 teacher though.
She shouldn't teach. She always makes mistakes on the board even on the anwser key of the review exam.
RUN!!!!! calc is hard enough, with her is't impossible. this teacher sucks! she can't explain for sh!t and tests are not fair. definitely a self taught class.
Gives good notes and goes at a decent speed. Lots of visuals and some labs on the computer. She will help you if you have questions, as long as you tried to answer the question. She will also let you use graphing calcs on tests. Good calculus teacher!
Worst teacher I ever had. I got A's in Math 15 and Math 60.I got D's in her class. She is way too hard and gives killer hard tests and too much homework.I had to visit the tutor after each class i had with her.
I only showed up for the 4 tests, taught myself out of the book and she was okay with that. Helped alot because of my busy schedule. Got an A without breaking a sweat. Recommended for those who don't have time to go to class much. Very helpful when needed
she sucks! she can't even do the math herself, so why is she trying to teach others? i was in her class for a week and saw her make several mistakes. and worse than that, she doesn't even help you.

Can't explain anything and makes alot of mistakes on the board,
I like math, but when i joined squires class she taught me how to hate it. If you wanna pass math 110 don't take squires because you will fail. If you do join, get use to 3 hr long HW each night and B.S. tests. Thanks to her, i'm summerbound :-(
Wow I couldn't stand this woman.. She zips through everything way too fast and doesn't explain it very well. Your homework is like this program on the computer and she doesn't really clarify when things are due.. she is werid. I couldn't concentrate in that class..
Late pretty much every day. Barely got through the material and didn't really show problems... Though she did grade fairly.
Don't be fooled by her consistant wardrobe, she is a very pleasant woman. She will answer any question(s) you have, you just have to ask. Grades very generously...I didn't desearve half the grades I got on the tests. Tests are moderatley easy, just study. She does give you a lot of homework, however, and she might fail you if 50% isnt turned in.
Shes not so bad. Kinda of monotone and quiet so its hard to follow, but a very nice lady. She is very willing to help but the explaination can be a little to in depth and you get lost at times. If you ask questions you'll do fine, and slow her down if you don't get it, but a very nice lady.
She makes a lot of errors when trying to teach. Too many to be ignored. Isn't clear about the material. You're better off reading the book. Test are hard mainly do to lack of teaching.
Crappy teacher, worst I have ever had, she zips through the sections way to fast, doesn't explain anything, just starts writing a bunch of numbers on the board, unprofessional
Easy Class. Takes a lot of time to explain things. Key is that YOU have to ask a question. She assigns moderate homework but gives plenty of time before it is due. Tests are easy, if you take the time to study and actually pay attention. Will answer any question you have and is really nice. Yes she does wear the same clothes, but you can't judge how they teach baised upon their clothing.
she is a very good teacher! very nice! the material is just hard stuff to learn! she is awesome though! i recommend her if you need to take this class!
Makes math very unclear. you are better off reading the book.
She gives a decent workload, but doesn't get mad mad when you come in late, and will idividually help you if you need it.
She's a pretty good teacher... Yes, a little monotone, and sometimes class can get pretty boring, but all in all she's an organized, fair, and helpful teacher. She will help you out if you ask and will make an effort to help you improve your grade if possible.
A lot of people seemed to dislike her teaching, but I don't know why. She is a nice person and an easy teacher. She's pretty laid back and doesn't give you a hard time if you're late. She doesn't make you feel like an idiot if you ask a lot of questions. There was a lot of homework, but that's what you get when you take a Fast Track math course.
she makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions. also her tests seem very different from the material learned in class. she also doesn't mind to give hours of homework each night.
Squires needs to take a class on how to teach, and how to teach well, I got an A in the class just because I had to teach myself. I dont have time to be the student and the professor at the same time; and I shouldnt have to be. Not helpful at all, not willing to help, not clear in the least, homework load way too much.
Dont like how she teaches...
I really liked this teacher, I thought she was really cool. She allows people to walk in late, and I think she really cares about her students. There was a lot of hw, but I took Math 50 & 60 Fast Track in 1 semester so that's why. She gives you example tests w/the correct answers to take home & study. She also gives bonus pt.s on exams.
I noticed when other students asked her questions she was very aburpt and curt with her answers; not the way a math teachers should be explaining problems. Very quick with the material, she did not do the best job of explaining it. She gave us test reviews and her test were not hard. A slightly above average professor.
i took her class back in fall of '03 and she is to this day the most horrifying teacher i've encountered. all i remember was her lectures were very vague and the hw was unbearable. we had to do it on this worthless computer program that rarely worked which took HOURS to complete. tests were straight forward. ended up dropping for personal reasons.
Horrible teacher. It seems like she doesn't want to be there at all teaching, so she makes it a bad experience for everyone. She doesn't explain the concepts well. Overall, she just was not meant to be teaching.
great teacher the class is very hard, but she is very helpful
This teacher is a nice woman, but in my opinion, should not be teaching math. She lacks the verbal skills to actually teach the students properly. She assumes that students already know what she's talking about when she begins class, skipping steps, etc. It was really frustrating for me to sit in her class everyday and learn nothing.
She was terrible. I have to tell you that one. She never helped, and giggled at people who needed help. She was EXTREMELY boring and she even told us that she hated teaching Algebra. My advice: DO NOT GET THIS TEACHER!
she sucks. would have got B if hadn't failed final: questions were completely unrelated to the material taught: "write an equation of the amount of material needed to create a can as a function of it's radius". what the hell does that mean? it was math 135, we never did that!! When asked if she could do problems w/out calculator "why would you to?"
She's very nice. Gets tests back in a timely manner. Calc is boring for 6 weeks then gets fun.
she is ALWAYS late to class. hard to understand, BORING. very monotone, and hard to keep up with. by the time i've written one thing down, she's on to something else. very hard to follow.
She moves way too fast. She doesn't give you enough time to write down what she's talking about, and by the time you do she's moved on. I only asked for help once in the beginning of the semester and she said "You really don't understand this? It's very simple." Take her class if you're ready to move fast and not ask questions.
she is horrible. Her methods don't work when you try to do the homewokr probs.
no good
WORST teacher I have ever had. I took her 4 weeks to return ONE exam... never mind the homework that we got back AFTER we took the final. Her grading is extremely unclear and aren't posted anywhere. She talks to the board, not to the class... and literally looks at the book and COPIES what it has written on the board. How does that teach anyone?
She was always late to class. She actually didn't show up to at least four classes, maybe more. She also had a test the week before finals week and then had our final. Terrible teacher, avoid if you can.
she's a good professor... just talk to her and you'll do find in the class. come to class everyday and be ready
I took her a while back. She makes math 60 more diffucuit because of the way she explains things. Goes too fast. She laughs when people ask questions. Gives a moderate amont of hw. Exams are resonable.
She is not the best professor .... don't take her... she makes math harder than what it really is.... often makes mistakes
I found this class extremely difficult. In class, she basically just taught directly from the book and didn't do much as far as explaining.
She often missed classes without warning. She made simple concepts harder to understand and she did not make the learning environment comfortable. I was afraid to ask questions because she would sometimes laugh. She does not have patience for teaching.
Easily the worst professor I've had, hands down. Not only does she appear to not entirely grasp what she's teaching, but she isn't consistent with test difficulty. You're better off teaching yourself out of the text, since that's all she does anyways.
she's great, helpful with a positive attitude, always smile, she would take her time after the class and go over the problems again, i have took my math 50 and 60 with her and will take the rest of my math up to calculus 3 with her. if u scared of math, i would definitely recommend her :))
Worst teacher ever, don't take her. she laughs when students ask questions is not clear when she teaches and skips steps. took her for math 60 and she acts like you're already supposed to know what she's teaching. i would definitely not recommend her to anyone.
She is easily one of the best teachers I have ever had! As long as you do your work and pay attention in class you will get an A. Ask her for help if you have any questions and she will make sure you understand it. I just wish she was teaching the higher maths because I would take her for all Math classes!
if you want to hate math, take her. she makes math complicated. easy A though.
The class was easy, however I found that she wasn't the best help at all. For the most part, I taught myself college algebra with the book.
Do not listen to the people who give this teacher praise they are setting you up for failure. I got an A in this class because I studied at least 4 hours everyday no exaggeration. She looks down on you as though you should know the material beforehand and you end up teaching yourself most of the math at home. She is late everyday and is horrible.
Only take if you do well in Math. She assumes you know what she is teaching already and has a dismissive attitude and is not clear in her teaching. I struggle in Math, but have done well in all my classes until her. You will need to teach yourself from the book.
Assumes you should know math already and even snickers at her students when things get complicated. Not helpful and seems to really hate her job. Definitely do not take fast-track with her unless you are brillant.
This is my third semester of calculus so you can believe me when I say that I have taken an extensive amount of Math and with all the teachers I've had at Palomar Annette Squires is quit possibly the worst teacher I've ever had. Yeah, she'll pass you if you show up and make an effort but she will not teach. Never there for office hours. WORTHLESS!
Not the most dynamic teacher, but she does give LOTS of credit on tests for showing work and making an effort, even if you get the wrong answers. Kind of annoying how she acts like you should already know and love what she's teaching.
plz plz plz plz pleeeeaaaaassseeeee listen to me.. if u want to pass this class, choose a different teacher
DOOOO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!! She expects you to know math and if you dont know the material you are smerked at and looked down upon! DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!
TERRIBLE TEACHER! Should not be teaching and doesn't know how to teach. She will pass you if you try, so if you are looking to pass and teach yourself how to do math the entire semester then take her. If you want to learn the math and be taught it then dont take her. Nice lady, but thats the extent of things.
I have mixed feelings about this teacher. She is a very intelligent person and forgets that everyone else's brain may not work like her own. She can make simple math problems very difficult. With that being said, she gives points on test for steps of each problem and I was still able to pull an A
Do not take her on fast track! She's incredibly condescending and expects you to already know her material. If you get get over her personality and are good at math then go ahead but I wouldn't recommend it
Well, I took Math 50 3 times and it was her that finally got me through it. I got my first ever B in a math class so if I can pass her class I think just about anyone can. Yeah maybe she's not the best teacher in the world but she was good enough for this horrible math student.
She stands in your way and she is use to teaching fast track classes so if you are in a full semester with her good luck
She teaches really quick and doesn't explain to you how she does it. She'll stand in your way when she teaches. homework wise, its alright most of them will be on computer and 5 of them on book. if you do take her class, i hope you can learn math within mins
Easy class. You can really just read the textbook and learn the material the same if not better than if you had been present. She's typically late and gets right down to business, no chit chat. She's kind of awkward in her demeanor and messes up on problems sometimes. Assigns homework nightly as well as over weekends.
Would not suggest taking her! She teaches way too fast, and she isn't good at teaching the material. It seems as though she expects you to know the material, and practically reviews everything instead of teaching it...
I'm taking this class right now and I can not stand being in this class. She seems like a nice lady, but oh my god she can't teach. If it weren't for the fact that we have homework to turn in I would not bother coming to class. Just read the textbook and you'll learn 10x faster than you do in class.
I am currently taking her class and it is a nightmare that I can't wake up from. I am commenting for the sole purpose of doing a public service to my fellow students. I warn you all, proceed in taking her class at your own peril!!!!
She will tell you all the problem then write it on the board, she expects you to understand so when you ask questions she smirks like what a dumb question. I have found it more helpful to go to the math lab to learn then her class. People not showing up to class are getting higher test grades then kids showing up. I LOVE math but she ruined it.
When I drive to school in the morning, I always unbuckle my seat belt in hopes of crashing and dying. WHich would be better than going to this class
Reads out of the book, just faces board most of the time, incredibly boring and expects you to know everything, has little to no teaching ability, treats it as if you have already taken the class. Do not take her class, curves tests only because students do so terrible, what you learn on your own is what you take from teaching yourself from text.
If you are considering this teacher, forget about it! This lady was my last and only choice to complete math 130 and i would extremely advise avoiding this teacher. She makes Palomar seem like Harvard. If you dont want a 99% chance of failing and impossible tests that are too long to complete i would seek any other option to complete this class.
She faces the board most of the time, teaches in a monotone voice, and seems incredibly disinterested in the subject. That being said, all you have to do is engage her, and she will answer every question you ask, and explain it many different way until you understand. I passed, and I suck at math.
She is always late to class. assigns homework every night. talks to the board. expects you already know everything. doesn't really care if you miss class.
Wow, I normally get straight A's and I just could not learn anything from Squires. My God, the way she teaches is NOT for me at least because NOTHING is clear and she has the overall attitude that she doesn't want to even be there at all. If you're enrolled in her class, I'd suggest finding a new class ASAP!
She expects everyone to be up to College Level, because "You are not in high school anymore". She's very "matter of fact". Somewhat helpful. ALWAYS arrives 1-5 minutes BEFORE the 15-minute rule. We always said she wouldn't show up and would always, without a doubt, show up before we could technically leave. Don't take her if you're not good in math
She was cool, i took her math 50 during the summer semester so the work load was a bit more than usual but she does explain well. Her tests are easy and short, and she grades hmwk based off of completion rather than accuracy.
DO NOT TAKE HER! all the bad feedback is totally true. I dont have anything against this woman but she doesnt know how to teach, lectures are boring. ALL she does is take problems from the textbook and solves them on the board during class, and she gives you A LOT of homework. Dont take her if you are taking other classes and have work.
Teachning just really isn't for her. She always loses the class and the majority of it is just ignoring her doing their homework. Alot of people have stopped coming becasue there is no point, theyre teaching it to themselves anyways. She's nice and I joke around with her, but she just isnt a good teacher. Boring, unclear, 7 tests per semester.
This professor does not clarify any of the material. She only talks directly to the white board and when you ask a question she rolls her eyes and laughs at you. This class is pretty much self taught. I do not suggest taking this class with this teacher.
I have never had the WORST experience with a professor. She is probably the rudest professor i've had. She is always 10 minutes late with a starbucks in her hand. When you ask a question she questions you right back. You ask for help, she does not give you help. I would never, ever take her class again. She made me feel so dumb and discouraged.
Nice lady, however... i would expect a math professor to know that 17 minus 8 is not 7! She provided the class with a final review, but the tutor at the star center said to tell the professor she is an idiot when he looked at it... Also, never posts grades or homework assignments on blackboard, your status is a mystery until the final is handed out
She wasn't the best professor overall and I feel like if you are bad at math this wouldn't be the professor for you. The class itself is made up of homework, exams, a final and three projects(research paper, a lab activity, and an art project of sorts). The exams are average, but doable if you do the homework. She comes to class 10 minutes late.
If you do the homework and go over the study guides you will pass. She is straight forward, gives partial credit on tests and not unreasonable if you have something come up and need to turn homework in late.
Speaks to the board, speaks to the front row. Teaches her way and constantly makes mistakes. Nice person TERRIBLE teacher. DOnt recommend this professor.
She was fine overall. She clearly knows her stuff and will answer questions if you have them. I almost got the sense that she didn't fully care. Nonetheless, if you pay attention to the lectures and do the HW, you'll do just fine, I got A's on all the tests.
Goes way too fast, bad attitude, doesn't care.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS, she just does book problems and expects you to know everything. If you havnt taken a math class within the past year you will fail because she dives right in. I highly highly do not recommend taking this class at all, one of the worst professors ive had.
If you're good a math you can skip class and teach yourself and do the homework and pass the test. This professor teaches fast with her back towards the class. She gives tons of homework and gives an I don't care attitude. I don't recommend her if you're not good at math.
Prof. Squires Math120 intersession. 4 hours per day, 4 days per week for 4 weeks. This was a tough class, she provided an embedded tutor available after class every day. I recommend her if you are a serious student, no slackers. I would take take her classes again. Excellent teacher.
I had her for math120 intercession. It was very fast paced, loads of homework and a short amount of time to do it. The professor was very good at working with the class and even extended homework due dates out passed the end of class date. I recommend her. I would not recommend taking the short intercession class, unless you like to stress yourself
This might as well be an online class where you teach yourself because she definitely doesn't do it. It's hard to ask questions because she doesn't like them and always has an attitude. If you can't teach yourself or find outside resources, then I wish you good luck in her class. Would not recommend.
The testing for this class is very heavy. 100pts a test and there are 4 tests. The homework is 5-15pts. There are not many pts. Not good if your bad at math. I missed two tests and she was very nice about it with extensions. She called me and told me about her class. She truly cares and kind hearted professor. Her class is just too test heavy.
Worst teacher Ive ever taken in my entire life. She teaches with her back to the students and covers up the board so your left confused when she finally gets out of the way and she doesnt answer questions. Super test heavy. Laughs at students when they ask questions. DO NOT TAKE HER. Ive never had such an awful semester and its all because HER
Once you understand her teaching style, easy A. Her lectures are full of examples. Quizzes at the end of every section, bit of homework, and 4 tests (she drops your lowest score). Throughout the semester she opens ups a little more and will interact more with the class. I would take her again!
She was the nicest professor I have had but her grading depends too much on 100pt exams and only 5pt homework's.
Has an unbelievably BAD attitude that's for sure. Don't expect to be able to ask many questions at all without receiving attitude. She does explain things well, but only the first time so pay attention! Doesn't grade hw very hard. Requires 16 hours in the math lab (actually helped me) Also has easy in class participation worksheets 2x a class.
terrible teacher. Literally does not teach. only reads from book. Test areas at the beginning but gets extremely difficult towards the end. If you do good the first two test you'll be fine. worst and most boring teacher I ever had!!!
Way tooo many asignments and an insane work load per week/day even during spring break. I took this class to review I had an A in high school in this class and had to drop Squires class because of the work load. Doesn't let you do any extra credit and explains nothing and could care less about your issues..
Terrible terrible professors. By far the worst I have ever taken. Her due dates are terrible.
One of the most dry and monotone teachers I've ever had. She has her ten year so she has no care left for her job. Tons of homework, grades tough and doesn't care if you don't understand. Only take her if you must
Professor Squires is good about explaining everything thoroughly and doesnt go over to much every class. Yes she does give a lot of homework but is very lenient on when its due. Study guides are really reflective of the tests so if you understand those youll do just fine. Shes really nice and will help you if you ask but be prepared to work
This class is definitely challenging, but she is overall a good professor that is willing to help if you are willing to put in the work. She is also pretty flexible with office hours and homework due dates etc.
I really don't know why Squires has such a low score here. Everyone I know who has taken her loves her as much as I do. She takes time to make sure we understand the material. I always look for her teaching other classes I can take, because I learned a ton from her. She made Calculus click for me!!
She genuinely does not care whether or not you understand it so you really have to try hard to get everything. I got an A but I am doubtful there were many who did. She teaches with her back continually to the class and blocks the board most of the time. All in all I did fine but I put in the effort. Based considerably on exams alone, so so well.
By far one of the best Math Professors I've had. Lectures are too fast sometimes, but she wants students to let her know when to slow down. Encourages asking questions. Has group practice problems to ensure understanding. Can be an easy grader. Lots of homework; however, it helps with learning formulas. She was an Engineer on the Space Shuttle!
This woman is incredibly intelligent, and will help you succeed if you ask her for help! She gives you different outlets in which to reach her should you have questions and will clarify any confusion. If you study hard /ask questions, you can get an A! Her grading is flexible, and if you are focused and do the homework, it will be easy to succeed.
She is very good teacher. Her teaching skills are awesome. I understood every chapter i learned from her. Her grading criteria is very clear though you have to earn it. Not an easy A. She understands every students problem and help them.
I dont understand what she teaches, she is too fast. I want to pass, I am heavily dependent on outside resources to pass this class. She doesnt seem to care even when I tried to tell her that. There is no way to earn any extra credit. Homework is extremely hard and time-consuming.
Prof. Squires is very different from other professors at Palomar. She doesn't want her students to do well. She laughs at students and make them feel they know nothing. Her lectures are just memorized by her. She wants students to fail clearly. All other professors at Palomar want their students to pass except her. Insane amount of homework!!!
Professor Squires is a very intellectual and informed professor when it comes to giving lectures. Fast. She is a review based teacher so if you do not put in the time to know the information you will not pass. Curves most tests. Loved her straight to the point. I passed!
If you keep up with the book and listen to her lectures in-class the class itself won't be difficult. She goes through many examples and drills the mechanics of solving problems step-by-step which is helpful. The study guides for the exams did not always match with the exam itself but she usually explicitly said what would be on the exam in-class.
Literally reads from the book and has a very hard time understanding student questions. Typically multiple students have to clarify what the original student was asking in order for her to properly answer. If you arent comfortable repeating or rephrasing your question, dont even bother asking because she will launch into an answer thats irrellevant
In her class, the exams are what weighs your grade. Homework is just 15% of your grade. No extra credit so if you failed one exam, don't expect an A. Homework is not online and you need the textbook for the homework. Notes for her lectures don't make sense. You are better off reading the book. She sighs a lot.
She's definitely has a poor reputation, but my experience was overly positive. The class was a relaxed environment, she was very accommodating in extending homework deadlines, and best of all she offered a ton of extra credit based on hours spent in the math center.
If you are not a good test taker then do NOT take her class! First class I've failed
If youre bad about doing your homework but are still a good test taker - take her. She assigns lots of homework that you'll receive very little credit for doing, so if you dont do it it doesnt hurt your grade that bad at all. tests make or break u
Not a good teacher at all and way too much homework. Tests become increasingly difficult especially with the numbers she uses. Only reason why I know what I'm doing in this class is because I took calc in high school. She'll tell you what's on the test and the practice tests are somewhat similar to the actual.
Way too much homework, EXTREMELY specific when grading tests, and goes over questions with vague answers or explanations. If you plan on taking this course with her over summer, either don't or be prepared to do a lot of heavy studying on top of 2-4 sections of homework per day.
She's a generous grader, but her tests are harder than what she does in class. You have to really know the ins and outs of the homework to do well on the test. She is not very respectful of the students, unless they're doing well in the class. Some classes were fine, others were very unpleasant and tense.
she doesn't care about teaching, she sighs a lot which is annoying, and she sucks at teaching overall, literally reads out of the math book. by far the worst teacher i have ever had in my life. give ridiculous amount of homework. she uses the excuse of messing up "its early *sigh*" so dont take her .
Terrible, terrible, terrible professor. This is by far the worse teacher at Palomar. Her exams are way to difficult and her grading Is super precise. A really lazy teacher that has no sympathy for her students. She needs to be fired!!! Also you do not know your grade until the last day of your class.
Pros: Incredibly approachable, will let you improve scores on assignments after deadline, will extend any deadline, allows use of StatCrunch on exams, replies quickly Cons: Unrealistic workload that is very small fraction of grade but required completion to take exams. Tests look nothing like 12+ hour assignments, difficult to score well on exams
The class was very heavy on lectures. Gives a lot of homework so you need to be on top of it. She does give extensions on homework if needed but you have to ask for it. If you don't get the concept make sure to ask questions.
A kind-hearted person who is great on communicating with her students. She is evidently knowledgeable about her subject and is a genuine teacher at heart. However... being so smart, she doesn't understand what it's like to be in the shoes of her students. Lectures can be long and confusing. If you do take the class, make sure to ask questions.
Her class wasnt even that hard, just way too much homework and time you have to spend on the class. its insane and not worth all of your time.
NEVER EVER EVER TAKE THIS CLASS. Seriously the worst teacher I have ever had. In the syllabus it says u can email her with questions and ask for an extension she literally never emailed me back. You have a zoom session at the beginning of the semester, then she just disappears and never see of her again. Extremely rude -10000/10 would not recommend
Bruh I fell asleep multiple times since the class started at 7:15, and I ended the class with a 104%. She is, in fact, cracked at teaching my guy. The class average was a 84%, but I'm built different. 10/10 class, super chill
I'm by far not the only one that complained about the loads of homework and lectures she paced through. She would give extension on homework but would forget about telling us about upcoming tests. We also had to pay for an online website that grades hw, but even then she wouldn't take the effort to put it into canvas.
She's not the worst professor but it's currently the end of the semester and she hasn't graded any assignments. Pretty frustrating when you don't really know your grade and its the very end of the school year. Boring lectures but helps if you need it.
Its currently been over a week since our class took the final and she still hasnt graded it. Nothing was really graded except the other exams. Kinda sucks when you dont know your grade! Her lectures are boring but she will take the time to help you solve problems.
Took this professor over the summer and she assigned loads of homework and got made a lot mistakes in the lectures which made it pretty confusing. She doesn't grade until the last couple days after the class ends so you have no idea what your grade is until the last day. I would heavily advise you to take someone else.
I took her class over the summer and she assigns a ridiculous amount of homework and doesn't grade anything until the last week of classes, so you don't know what your grade will be until the class is over. If you have other options, do not take this class with her as the professor.
Professor Squires has no pulse while teaching. Sighs through lecture and doesnt elaborate on concepts unless you explicitly ask. No proofs or reasons why, just throws up a concept and expects you to get it. Doesnt encourage questions or class discussions. Only graded on HW and 4 exams. Had to teach myself the material and understood it better.
DO NOT take this prof. I had to basically try and teach myself everything. She doesn't respond quickly to emails and is rude when you ask questions. She grades very slow so you will never know where you stand in this class. All tests are taken over zoom and you have to scan in your tests. Save you grades and don't take her class!
This professor was arguably one of the worst professors I've had. Not only does she not teach directly in her online classes, the tests are by far the hardest and most time consuming tests I've ever taken. I'm talking between 11-20 question parts PER problem. Do not take this class, especially online, if you value your sanity. Workload is insane!
There is SO much homework and reviews. The tests are worth over 50% of your grade. She also does not grade until the last minute, so it's hard to know exactly where you stand in the class. However, she will respond to you quite quickly, even on weekends. She is very lenient on extensions for homework, reviews, quizzes and test.
I took this class over the summer and online. It's the first math that I had taken in years. the lectures help, and she will answer your questions AFTER her signature sigh. however her tests are very similar to the review and all the home work was online which helped. so if you do the homework and and the review then you too can pass this class.
I took this class online so I'm not sure how it is in person. But she will assign you a whole ton of homework and the tests and chapter reviews. Only good things about this class is she provides video lectures and power points and maybe due date extensions. Strongly recommend just buying the math subscription since i never really used the textbook.
Professor Squires is a respectable professor, though her teaching style is difficult to understand at times and overwhelming. She teaches quickly and often without explanation- meaning you have to teach yourself at times. She makes lots of mistakes when it comes to simple math, and it can be confusing. She sighs when you ask questions
For Lin Alg. She was very unforgiving on tests. If you are not a good test taker, then good luck, better off finding another professor. I should have checked RMP before I took the class and I regret not looking her up. I wasted so much time, effort, resources, and I feel very let down. She's very strict, no extra credit, test corrections, or curves
Say goodbye to your life, hopes, and dreams. By far the hardest class I have ever been in that had no reason being this hard. It is called ELEMENTARY statistics for a reason. I do not like to complain or leave reviews but I will for this. The homework load is honestly ridiculous. I have not had a life all semester because of this class. Lame.
Took her Lin. Alg. course. I'm a Math major and normally get straight As in math classes, but suffered taking this professor. If you're looking through these reviews and wondering if it couldn't possibly be that bad, It's Worse Than You Think. Please take my suggestion and avoid her classes if you care about your GPA and having a life.
Professor Squires is a good teacher, but is a very tough grader. Although this can be frustrating, it REALLY prepares you for future classes. She cares about her students, but is a little disorganized. Do the homework everyday so it isn't as overwhelming, and ask questions after class. The organic chemistry tutor's videos helped a ton!
This was a fast track class and although we didn't meet for lectures or classes, every time I reached out to Professor Squires I was incredibly pleased with our interactions. I had to take a break from the course due to health issues and Professor Squires was more than accommodating. Super easy class, many hours worth of work.
If you like dilapidated professors who do not enjoy their jobs, Annette Squires is the teacher for you. She does not teach. She does not elaborate on any of the processes you will see in calculus. She gives you this indignant, lip-splitting smirk of pain similar to the likes of Deloris Umbridge if you dare ask her a question or to elaborate. Awful.
This professor mostly stares at the board writing/solving problems quickly and mumbling how she's getting solutions. If you plan to ask questions that interrupt her "flow", prepare for her to give a heavy sigh and a quick answer before moving on. After about a week of seeing her general attitude towards students, I was out.
If you don't do the homework you're basically failing. In-class is more reinforcement than it is learning new topics. I would understand the general idea but then we'd move on. She makes us do whiteboard work with partners and is very supportive whenever we ask questions during this time.
Her tests make up 56% of your grade, which is kind of scary. There was so much homework too. She is nice and responds fast to emails. If there is a better professor out there, choose them. My professor who I chose beforehand sadly got switched to Professor Squires but whatever.
Squires goes all out for exams, in MATH 141 it was 3 exams throughout the semester and 1 final. The questions were very difficult, and instead of curving she adds a bonus question for an extra 10 points. Regardless of that not a single test had a mean average score above a D grade. Pretty much everyone struggled regardless of their performance.
Her Summer Online Math101 class is just a glorified self-teaching experience. She doesn't offer any additional assistance beyond the textbook, doesn't offer video lectures to go over anything, etc. Canvas is BLANK outside of the Grades. The Pearson textbook online that's required (where all the actual work/grading happens) is atrocious. Good luck.
I can say that your grade relies heavily on tests. Your grade on the pearson app could hardly go up with homework. The excels were definitely the hardest because I hard trouble navigating around the app. The positive side to this class is that professor Squires answers emails almost immediately and she can help out on some things.
Professor is nice and teaches decently well. Sometimes she would explain a problem and then realize she got it wrong and skip it. The only thing that made this class tolerable was using whiteboards in class to work on problems that we worked on with other students. Gave exam reviews that were similar to the exam and gave extra credit.
She doesn't teach any of the material, instead you are expected to read the textbook and figure it out for yourself. If you dare ask her for help or clarification, she'll roll her eyes and let out a dry, acid-borne sigh of annoyance from living a life of inhaling negativity and exhaling cynicism before disregarding your question. Absolute crone.
Professor Squires has a unique teaching style - fast-paced and sometimes overwhelming. She can be impatient with questions, but the class material is manageable with self-study and tools like Unstuck AI. Overall, a challenging but doable course.
normally i'm good at math, but even I struggled in her class. she started explaining problems more after everyone bombed the first test (allowed remakes though). gave note packets n practice problems w explained answers. allows students to use whiteboards. hella hw but manageable lowk, takes forever tho. self study fs to fully understand the topic.
I would not recommend this class unless you are planning on having a tutor to help you with work. She assigns homework every week and projects that do not make sense once a month, when you ask her she takes a while to respond. Her tests are 54% of the grade and they are only 22 questions out of 100% so if you only get a few wrong you get a B.
my class was partially online but the weekly "lecture" we'd have was extremely unhelpful. be prepared to teach yourself. she'll answer questions when prompted but i found that she didn't seem very invested or present in person. we basically sat and did work by ourselves for 2 hours.
A full time job makes you work 40 hours a week, her syllabus says to expect working 20-30. The professor may have forgotten that there is more classes that students take other than this one as well as life to live.
She expects you to spend more than an entire day's worth of time (24+ hours) on homework alone . . . . This isn't an opinion her syllabus says this.
After taking this class I didn't realize how much 8 hours of sleep is, I got way less than that while taking this class
I took this online as a summer course and I hated it. there was 14 modules, but she cut it one short. each module had multiple parts in it too, for example it had Unit 1, and then like 12 subparts. I hated it. It was so much work for a 8 week course. I understand that since it's an online course, it's more quick paced, but come on. this is insane.
Don't take her class
Gives way too much homework per week. Im talking about 8 modules with 15-20 questions that has parts a-i. Also gives pointless discussions on canvas and tells you to respond to 2 peers to questions like “is a this continuous or not?”. Like brain dead pointless tasks.
Im just writing this right after I finished her weekly homework which is literally about 9 modules a week. One of the 9 modules had 12 questions and one of those question had 17 PARTS. Do what you will with that information.
Very test heavy and fast pased. Gives you points off for the dumbest things and expects you to know everything already.
too much homework for too little credit
