loves math, which can be scary, but a good teacher and fair grader
She is a very good professor! She gives many examples and does not rush. She is also very thourough with her notes.
Very annoying, not helpful, too anal too structured, very particular-HARD GRADER. If your not good in math DO NOT take her!! You will feel extremely lost if you do.
drop the class early if you don't understand the material. Her tests become impossible as the term progresses. Class average was VERY low!
Do not take this class if you plan on skipping a couple classes, she loves to dish out pop quizes. Very very anal, grades very hard. I would never take her again.
She's really not that bad.
She helped me a lot after class. I am NOT good at math; she was patient and helpful. And she's cute too!
Very hard teacher, unclear explanations, loves and very uptight. i would never take a class with her again.
This woman lives for math, and lives to make your life TERRIBLE. She give hundreds of problems for homework and moves very quickly. Don't MISS A MINUTE in her class cuz you will fall off the wagon quickly. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS. PLEASE!!!!!
she is a spaz! she crams so much math into evry class. this class was a review and i am always trying to catch up on work. she knows math well, but is in such a hurry that the students are left in the dust.
terrible, crams so much math into a class. very confusing and does not take the time to go over and explain the material. moves very quickly and expects you to understand everything that leaves her mouth. ended up dropping the class and losing some money, do me a favor, do not take her!!!!!
Doesn't help for****!She makes you feel like your stupid at the same time trying to make her self look good. Her teaching and personality need improvement.
She is a good person. She does want you to learn but she doesnt explane anything very well. she wont give etra credit. About 10 of us dropped out of her class because we were failing :(
Should not be considered a professor. PLZ dont take! She will not help you and is worthless, I wish I could tell her how bad she is. She doesn't care about anybosy and will fail anybody. Her tests are impossible and she gives the hardest questions just to show she can do it and you cant, she ignorant
She was heartless, every question on the test was impossible! she was not willing to help. she is rude, unapproachable, and should not be called a prof. She always makes mistakes on the board, she is awful. Assigns so much homework and tests are unbearable. I never passed one. I failed and have never failed. Take Jane Mullally, she is great.

if ive ever seen a dyselsic (spelling?) person, it is her. in math, you can NOT mix up numbers. you just dont do that! especially in math! i am GREAT in math and her class sucks! im taking the rest at macomb
I hated this class. She always made me feel dumb by the way she taught. And when test time came, I always did bad. This is a review class for me, but it felt like I was trying to learn it all for the first time because of her.
Let's just say that I had actually already took this class in high school, but I am basically failing THIS class. She lectures the whole hour and if you pay close attention, you will think you will do fine. NOPE. She picks the hardest problems she can find for the test, offers no extra credit, and will fail you no problem. Doesn't offer any help.
She was horrible at teaching and thought she was so funny with her stupid jokes, which she only said to try to keep peole awake.
terrible teacher, had to retake with another teacher and got a 3.8. She does not teach well at all(always messing up numbers) uses problems on test that aren't close to her examples.
Horrible! By far one of the worst professors I've ever had. Tests are not representative of material covered in class. Wastes class time by needlessly writing names of section on board - we know what we're studying, it doesn't have to be written out in full at every class! She doesn't explain what she's doing at all! Don't take this instructor
She was always very helpful when I stayed after class with questions. I passed this class much more easily with her than when I took it the previous year with another professor and failed. Plus, I think she's quite hot.
i took this class with a another teacher who was very bad. This teacher really helped to clear up alot of material. Its math, so with any class you have to understand the material. And if you do you will be ok. I am the worst at math and i did alot better then i thought.
Math was already terrible, but this professor made is SO MUCH WORSE. She writes worthless stuff on the board, and is neverending with notes and even then its not even the same thing on the test. Test are extremely hard! Studying for 40 hours a week might get you a B....please dont take this teacher...she makes terrible jokes too!
Rediculous teacher! I am usually a very adept math student but it was so difficult to follow what she was saying and writing on the board. If you are a self learning then you should do fine in the class, but overall she was never available for office hours, the only time she would see you is before class and I had her at 8:00. Very unreasonable.
Good teacher to take this intro class with. She goes through things quickly so make sure you attend class and don't doze off!! Lots of homework, which made the class easier in my opinion. Not graded. Overall a good class/teacher.
SHe is horrible!!! if you want to pass math take anyone but her!!! the material is easy but for somereason the class average on our tests were 52% that in my opinion says it all!! she doesn't curve and she grades impossible, on one test question the answer was 2, i got it right but since i didnt write "x=2" she marked me wrong! she sucks!
never take this woman's class! absolutely horrible she knows math but she moves so quickly no one can keep up with her. if you ask a question she acts like you should know it and y r u n this class if you dont know. she makes mistakes all the time she acts like shes perfect repeats herself 50 million times writes meaningless things on the board
I don't understand all of the negative reviews, I've always hated and rarely understood math in high school and I got an A. I found her to be extremely clear, helpful and kind. She was always willing to meet outside of class. At any given time, half the students were absent, so many are obviously blaming their bad performance on the professor.
The bad reviews of this teacher kind of scared me before I took this course, but I honestly have no complaints. She went extremelyyyy slow(at least for me) which made the information very easy to understand. The amount of homework was reasonable, the quizes were easy as long as you do the homework, and the tests were straight forward.
I don't understand all the bad ratings for her, she wasn't bad at all. She went very slowly when lecturing and showed us everything we needed to know. Easy to understand, and I'm terrible at math. She seemed really nice too. Take this class.
She gets questions wrong when she is lecturing and then spends 10 minutes fixing her problems. She has no backbone and does not make good on anything she tells that she will do.
I am happy to see the last few students rate her correctly. She was clear in her explanations and fair. She taught out of the book but also gave alternate way to work through problems for people who may learn differently. Also, she was very straight forward. In class problems were similar to text problems. She seemed to genuinely like her students!
It should be noted that Anetta Stansea, while not a bad person, is a rather bad math teacher. However most of the math professors at Oakland are and will give you zero's on problems for the slightest mistake or fail you entirely if you are absent despite however legitimate your excuse may be. Recommend taking elsewhere or with a younger/newer prof.
She's a really sweet professor that wants to see everyone do well! She can help you with problems in the workbook and make sure you get As on hw and quizzes since exams in lecture are impossibly and unnecessarily difficult. Good luck with math at ou...
She is a good professor and is very helpful. The people that put bad reviews do not do the work. You must do the work to do well. She is very clear with explaining things and is very helpful. She never makes you feel stupid if you have a question. She will even help you before or after class. I would recommend her for sire. She is super sweet
She is a nice person but she does not have teaching skills. Every class students would be correcting her when she went over example problems. It was an excrutiating class to get through but I made it through somehow.
Her teaching skills are poor. She's very awkward. She makes a lot of mistakes. Like little mistakes like missing a sign but she'll do this ten or more times a class. If you don't catch her mistakes your notes will be wrong and when you go to study you'll be screwed. Get a different professor.
She is a very helpful professor. Thoroughly explains all examples and tests are fair based on what was discussed. Learn the examples from the lectures and you will do fine on the tests. Expect to do homework, this is a college math class.
This Professor presents the class material to the students clearly and easy to understand. Also, she provides you with a study guide for each of the class exams and the final exam. Overall this Math instructor is a good one.
Overall the class is really easy, you get daily homework that will be due the following class and will have online homework along with quizzes and exams. Stanesa makes the material really easy to understand, and although the class may drag a little it definitely is an easy A.
Super hard grader, get the right answer but forget to erase the wrong work then you dont get full credit. I highly recommend to get a different professor. She messes up in class a lot and is kind of awkward to be around sometimes. Exams take forever to grade.
She's a nice woman, and she's willing to help you if need be. Grading isn't easy but it's math, so it's either right or wrong.
you will most likely fail the homework portion, which is assigned daily (you see everyones grades when the stack is past around). I had high 3.5 avg on the three tests, than the final came... you think your prepared ha! the questions were insanely advanced and impossible, unlike nything she taught us all semester Be smart take someone else and pas
If Calculus was't hard already, get ready for a human to read you the book. I didn't know I was signing up for a teacher who basically just reads what the book says, makes multiple crucial mistakes while showing work, no empathy whatsoever, and you are always told to "Do the practice problems" as if this is the answer to everything.
I am currently sitting in the first lecture of the semester, she has made 4 errors already. She has a major in statistics. The probability of me passing this class has dropped significantly after seeing all the mistakes she has made in the first lecture. It's gonna be a long semester.
Good luck she makes calculus very tough to learn and teaches you a small portion of the chapter and expects you to be able to learn the rest. Dont expect her class notes to be the test questions always very difficult. Same with quizzes. To top it off there is no hw grade so you better be a good test taker. Be careful do not take with her.
To get good grades is tough. Attendance and quizzes make up 20% and the other 80% is 3 midterms and a final. While the lack of homework seems nice if you have a rough time on an midterm it's difficult to make up for it. She teaches very text book and does not answer emails quickly.
By far the best math professor I've had! She goes super slow and is very easy to follow. Make sure to keep up with the practice problems. Quizzes are generally very easy if you pay attention to lectures and go over problems before the quiz. Exams are very similar to reviews. You should get a good grade in her class as long as you put in the effort
She is a very good professor. You will need to do multiple practice problems to understand the material. She goes slow and her notes are easy to follow. There are about 10 quizzes and 3 tests. Her study guides really help prepare for the exams. I would highly recommend taking her.
You better know all of that algebra & precalc inside & out. Fast-paced class. Medium-hard quiz every monday except weeks with tests. may drop a couple low quiz grades but it doesnt matter because your grade is mostly your 3 tests, a small portion attendance & quizzes, and a THIRD of your grade the cumulative final written by DIFFERENT instructor.
She is a fine teacher. Aced every quiz and exam but failed the final because it was written by someone else and we did not learn a good portion of the final questions.
She was a pretty good professor and seemed to explain the material clearly. The test are HARD and he have to really put in a lot of studying. Mostly upset about the final. It was impossible because it was in a totally different format that the other exams. Felt like I was looking at brand new material. I would recommend her but you must study!
Attendance only worth 5% of your grade. Quiz EVERY Monday aside from the week you have an exam. Makes many mistakes when she lectures. The final looked completely different b/c it was written by a different instructor. No extra credit, h/w does not count. Does drop your 3 lowest quiz scores. Questions? - she tells you to do the practice problems!!!
She has print out notes for each section, and we did 1-1.5 sections each class. She goes through pretty much every detail of all the problems step by step and is easy to follow. There are quizzes every Monday unless there's an exam that week. There's 3 exams total, and the final which was written completely different than all of the others.
She has a printout for every class so print these out and follow her notes in class and do the practice problems she gives you. Her reviews are very helpful for her tests.
As long as you print out her notes, come to class, and do your homework/reviews then you'll be fine. The largest part of your grade comes from 3 exams then the final. Her reviews are exactly like her exams but make sure you do well on the 3 exams! The final is written by the dept head and looks nothing like you've learned.
Provides printed out lecture notes that you can fill in as she goes. Gives study guides for each exam. Available office hours and reachable by email for questions. I would take her again if I could! I have not taken math in four years and I was able to pass!
Amazing professor!! She posts print out notes before every class and goes through each example problem slowly and carefully. Always available for questions by office hours or email. Tests are not bad as long as you do the review she gives you. 2-3 question quizzes every Monday, but easy as long as you do the practice problems. 10/10 recommend!!
Do homework, that's the best way to learn material. She provides guided notes. Go to class, you lose credit after 3 missed. She wants everyone to pass. Go to class, study homework, you will pass.
If you really want to succeed, go and see her in her office hours. She loves to help and explain things. I was struggling and she helped boost my grade a bit by giving me really good pointers.
I already was not good at calculus to begin with. I did well following along in class, and taking notes. I did not always get the grades I wanted on tests and quizzes because I would forget small things in problems. She is very picky about notation. Study hard and get help as soon as you sense an issue. I do think she has a great personality.
A great professor. Really makes calculus clear. If you go to lectures, take notes, review for the quizzes, take the practice exams you will be set to pass. You have weekly quizzes, super easy! 3 exams but the final isn't made by her. Her exams are exactly what she goes over in class and identical to her reviews. Super nice, can only miss 3 classes.
I had her as a workshop instructor and she was awesome! She posts all the answers to homework sets on the board (which I learned not all instructors do which is absurd to me). She responds to emails very quick; even when I emailed her at 11 the night before a test, she emailed back within a half hour. Ask her questions in workshop. Very helpful!
Quiz at the end of every workshop period but not her choice, main professor's choice. Other workshop teachers did example problems with the students. In this workshop you'd get a list of problems to do for the whole period. When you'd choose to do the lengthy online homework instead because it was the same thing you'd be sent out of the room.
She is extremely nice and knows what she is talking about, however during lectures she talks the whole time never giving student the opportunity to finish the problem to check in if we know what she is talking about. All she does is do the problem on the board while we copy it down. She seems really shy and sometimes help is not all that helpful.
While she is nice she makes a lot of errors during class and is not very understanding. It can be hard to follow her during class because she makes so many errors and has to scribble them out and it became very annoying. I did not think this class was hard but I know a few in my class did end of failing. 3 tests in all and quizzes almost every week
Annette was a caring professor, with a ditzy personality. While she taught well, I think sometimes she tried to relate a little too much with the class in terms of being funny, which made me kind of bored of the class at times. Other than that, she teaches clearly and answers literally any questions.
Professor Stanesa was an easy professor. She did teach her material well but made a lot of mistakes which students usually catch. Tests every Friday and 3 exams in total plus a final. I saw no point in buying the book, I never used it, but if you struggle with math buy the book. Her tests and quizzes are very similar to her notes. Overall easy!
Professor Stanesa was always available to help. She was easy to get in touch with via email with a prompt response. Always available before/ after class. She could be a bit goofy at times, but that just makes more relatable as a person. I recommend taking this class. She gives you literally all tools needed to pass her class!
She messed up a lot during lectures and we always had to correct her. Kinda boring and was hard to focus. I was in a big class so maybe that was the problem. She's okay not the best. Have fun going to the tutoring center.
She was okay. Made a lot of mistakes during the notes so someone always had to correct her. Wouldn't recommend.
Bruh if I could have NOT taken her, I wouldn't have. She is good at teaching, but she would mess up a lot during notes and often times it was confusing to understand her. Her hw was totally off from her notes and we got way more hw with COVID, so you really don't wanna fall behind or procrastinate. Ended up teaching myself a lot of the material
Annette has zero remorse for grading. If the question is wrong then you receive zero points. Annette gives no potential points for trying on a question. Annette decided to change mid-course on how to meet with her students. She assigns online and written hw everyday. Her grade criteria is terrible with the exams costing you 3/4 your grade.
Annette seems like a good teacher, but online is def not for her. She assigns way too much hw (online and written problems). The first few weeks were easy to understand, but everything has taken a turn for the worse. I had to teach myself things for the hw. Annette is super test heavy which hurt me because she doesn't give partial credit for work
I think that online teaching is definitely not for Annette. She is constantly messing up on the notes and the class always has to correct her. The homework takes me 4+ hours everyday. She gives WebAssign problems and her own "written problems". She has also barely responded to my many emails. I do have a B, but I do not recommend her.
She was super caring and made sure to answer all questions by email or during class. All lectures were taught during class and were done beforehand to prevent mistakes, followed by 3 tests. Make sure to attend class to learn. There was homework on each lesson that had to be completed for a grade but is very helpful when it comes to the tests.
Professor Stanesa was not bad. The only thing I would say about her is she sometimes messes up in lectures and the students have to correct her. She also lectures and does not give much room for question but mandatory workshop gives you a chance to ask questions. During lectures there are mandatory you trys where the students to the problem.
She is genuinely a nice person but it is hard to keep up with her during lectures. It is almost as If she is teaching herself. She assigns individual problems after each lecture and only gives an hour to complete. on top of that, she also assigns Alta homework which can take forever to complete. If you struggle with math I do not recommend.
She is a really nice person but its hard to understand her lectures sometimes. The students have to correct her on the problems sometimes and it makes me feel like she doesnt know what she is doing. And she assigns alottttt of hw in alta and i hate that site with a passion because you could be doing problems for 2+ hours.
My biggest issue with Professor Stanesa is the written problems she assigns. On top of digital hw, we have writtem hw as well. This hw more so tests your logical problem solving skills rather than anything you learned in the lecture, this makes the written hw feel absolutely useless. She intentionally makes them hard as well, aside from that, fine.
Professor Stanesa is a good professor but has some bumps in the road. Personally she seems more interested in COVID protocol than learning. During lectures, there have been multiple times where students have had to correct her in the notes. Shes a very hard grader. She never really tells you what she grades for or how she grades.
Professor Stanesa is very easy to work with & easy to reach out to. If you are a struggling math student I would suggest taking Professor Stanesa, her lectures are clear and easy to follow along with. If you want the math book for the course you can get it but you probably wont need it.
Very nice professor but makes many mistakes when teaching that students have to fix. Attendance is mandatory as there is you tries every class, which is 5% of your overall grade. Also a lot of homework through the website alta. Overall, she was an okay professor.
Good. Not great, but also not bad, let alone average. She's very nice and approachable. Lectures move fast, so unless you plan on getting help in either the workshop or one on one, get ready to catch up. Tests matter more than anything, and so does participation. All in all, pay attention and get help when you need it and you'll be just fine.
Very tough and unreasonable grader. Does a terrible job explaining and actually teaching the math. Constantly is making mistakes that other students point out, it messes a lot of us up when we are looking to her to learn and she is messing up herself. You can have A's on everything else, but if you do bad on the exams you fail. Doesn't answer email
Very nice person. She makes mistakes during lectures that can be confusing for some. The homework is manageable and if you attend lecture and put the work in, you will get what you want out of the class. Don't let bad reviews stray you away from taking her, those are the people who didn't put in full effort. Great professor and highly recommend.
She's a nice person, but never finishes the notes causing confusion when it comes to the homework. She spends too much time on problems and doesn't end up finishing complicated equations because she runs out of time. Even when she plans ahead and already writes the explanation to the problems beforehand, it doesn't save any time.
I did decent in this course, but I think that is because of how the lectures are given (each math professor has a plan they need to follow). She often did not finish the lectures, and we had a few problems we never got to in most classes. She also annoyed me because she would spend too long on something that did not matter much.
Seems very frazzled most lectures. Teaches w/ premade notes & posts literally everything to Moodle. Attendance is ~5% of your grade. Time management is iffy and causes us to skip over one or two problems (filled in on Moodle, though). Makes small mistakes and doesn't always catch them herself. You have to buy access to the homework site (Cengage).
