What Students Say

Main point: whole class is lecturing on multiple paintings, she tells you the book is required but we are not allowed to use any paintings from the book for essays so really no use, she confuses people by saying one thing then denies saying it, a lot of research is done by students - nothing is really taught in class, takes roll at end of class

Enjoyed class. Hard to do bad in: she gives short list of what will be on tests (5/10 for ID, 2/5 for short essay) and says exactly how she wants it formatted. I didn't miss a single point. Not her fault if ppl don't study. Can be long-winded, but usually interesting. Extremely knowledgable lady.

This teacher was horrible. I got a B in her class but should've gotten an A. She doesn't give everyon A's even if they deserve it because she doesn't want the dean to question her. She stated that in class. She grades you harshly on the essay you write. I am a straight A student in all of the Englishes I have taken and she gave me a C on my essay. Her tests are easy because she tells you what to study. She's really strict on attendance.

I loved taking Prof. Trent's class so much that I'm enrolled in another already! As long as you attend class, she gives you ALL the information you'll be tested on during the lectures, and all other assignments are relatively easy to complete. Extremely easy to pass if you put forth some effort! Take good notes A!

Professor Trent is really nice and smart. You can tell she loves what she teaches which is probably why she talks a lot about each artwork/movement/artist. Make sure you write down everything, even if it's not on the power point.

She's a good teacher, BUT she lectures the moment class starts until the very end, so it gets extremely boring. People fall asleep in this class. Don't get me wrong, her class is very easy. Extremely lenient on grading, and she's really adorable, but... you get very sleepy in this class.

This lady is amazing, you will have more writing assignments than one might expect from ARTHist but they're easy. She lectures long but its totally fascinating because she draws from real life. Definitely not a by the book professor. Take her! The class isn't hard at all, but still use her office hours for assignments and thank me later.

Uses Canvas unlike most professors. Attendance is mandatory up until a certain point, then there's no point in going to class because her lectures are useless, as she clearly gives you what will be on the midterm/final in study guides on Canvas. Papers are easy grades as long as you follow the prompts and do them. Beware of 1 pop quiz though.

I took her class as a joke/ to fill an IGETC requirement and it ended up being pretty interesting. She doesn't have a lot of things to grade but it isn't hard to do well on them. I don't care about art at all and got an A in this class. Her paper requirements are somewhat specific but easy to follow. In one instance, she was very rude to a peer.

Anni Trent is by far THE WORST professor I have encountered with at Cosumnes River College. She is rude and snappy. She will make her students present papers (as a grade) and harshly criticize each one in front of the whole class. This lady just holds her nose up high because shes the head of the art department

Prof. Trent is a great art history teacher, and really passionate about what she teaches. Show up, take notes, do the essays, you're good to go, simple as that. Keep in mind there are 3 essays and two papers in this class, along with a group presentation. I took three of her classes at the same time along with 12 other units and passed with A's.
