Awesome... Should a be Full Prof.
She is the worst teacher anyone can ever have. Save ya money and drop her class! She makes her tests so hard so that only 3 students get As!and she is proud of that! She is extremely discriminating....
She goes through material too fast. Overall, she is very nice and friendly. Her test is not extremely hard, but it is challenging.
Good sense of humour, dedicted teacher.
Absolutely the best math teacher I've ever had. She explained everything so well I barely needed help with the homework. She was awesome!
she marks the tests very strict and picky. her lecture is hard to understand bc of her accent. Not recommended.
Take Annie if you want to feel like you are a lesser person because of your math skills. She won't help you learn because she doesn't teach, she expects you to already know and have mastered the text book. Should not be alowed to teach a 101 course!!!

She is a really really nice person. you will fall in love with her if you get to know her but being nice doen't mean she is easy.Personally, i think she is fare(not too hard not easy) S.E
She is the most wonderful teacher I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. I just wish I'd had her as a teacher for 101, and 110. Amazing instructor, great teaching techniques. She makes you learn! Funny and likeable everyone should take her class!
she's so fair, and she is very kind.go and take her class.
She ia very compassionate. She is accessible outside class time if she knows that your are willing to work hard. She spends a lot of time to prepare and cover her course materials.

I hated math until I met Annie. She was always around for extra help. She was able to give me a firm understanding of the math basics that other teachers could not.
absolute the worst instructor in the world
The worst professor ever to profess. Stuck-up, arrogant knowitall who teaches nothing, rambles incoherently with a thick French accent, tests you on the parts of the text she didn't go through, and is generally so boring that it is tough to keep awake.
She is the worst math teacher I have ever encountered. She is only concerned with completing all hte material, does not give breaks, expects you to know everything, never takes any questions in class and has lost touch with her students.
NO BREAKS!!! boring class, but notes do help. A fair marker and exams are not tricky.
Very fair marker and eager to help. Even though she has French accent, she is very smart at all questions and always shows you clear steps of solution. By the way, she has a good sense of humor. Very happy to work with her.
Lol lets just say you need to be french immersion to be able to sit through the lectures :P. Shes a helpful teacher but she's definately lost touch with her students and if you NEED to get Math 101 DONT JOIN HER CLASS!
she is the worst teacher I ever had.
She's one of the worst teachers i even seenFrench accent and extremely messy notes, too fast writings, doesn't care about her students, but exams are not that hard.
Likes to teach in a very structured manner and is very thorough in what she covers. Class can be intensive but it really prepares you for 110. Many 110 students who didn't have her struggled with some ideas because they didn't understand the background.
She was easy to understand despite the French accent. The best math teacher I'v had, it's a shame she doesn't teach higher math classes, VERY ORGANIZED.
Taking 2 courses with her at Douglas College I soon realized that she loves to teach and know very well what she is teaching. She is a very pleaseant person to be around, and always willing to take the time and make sure the topic is understood.
One of the worst teachers I've had so far. Very hard to understand, and not very clear.
she knows what she is talking about, but teaches way to fast, you have no time to think. her midterms are hard.
She's an awesome teacher. I never liked math before I took her class. She introduced me to a new way of thinking that made math easier and fun. She's the best math teacher I've ever had.
Way to hard to follow, not a good teacher, lots of homework and a very hard marker. Also doesn't care about her students, Don't take her class.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! STUDENTS BEWARE. Very unclear, gets someone else to mark her assignents and they both have 2 totally different marking schemes. Tests are EXTREMELY hard and she does not care about her students. dont not take this course with her if you want a good mark. TAKE IT WITH ERIN R.

Prof. doesn't teach by example. Says wants us to be good math teachers,& not be afraid of math because we will help creat bad math students based on our attitudes. BUT she made note taking impossible-too fast&erased notes immediately after putting them on board-Contradicted herself often- BEWARE!!
An excelent teacher!Does not give break..or waste time(do the math 10min break*45 class =?). You get your monies worth(if your paying for it). Very helpful, kind and easy to approach. She knows a lot about math history and gives the student the background of the subject matterial while teaching!!!!!
i like her class very much, what a nice teacher! take her class!!!
hard to understand, doesn't care about her students, and VERY unapproachable...AVOID HER!!
A good teacher. Her class may be hard to those who slacked off in highschool and dont know basic math(more then half my class didnt know geometry or how to multiply/divide!!!). If you are serious and work hard you get good grades. DONT worry about assignments, they inmprove as you go along. take it
Beware! Difficult to understand, doesn't seem to care about her students and after tests, totally talks everyone down. Unspecific on what she wants in an answer for labs and test but expects you to know.I find her completely unapproachable and would never take anther class with her. Losing marks for little things due to her lack of clarity sucks!
I like her! she has taught me so much. An excellent teacher. I would recommend her
loved her teaching meathod, but goes a little fast. test were very easy, and she is very approachable. i highly recommend her as a math teacher, wish i could take her next term!
Annie is a very nice lady. She teaches very well and her tests and very easy. 1/3 of class always gets A's, 1/3 gets B's and 1/3 (mostly who slack off bad) get C's. She teaches a little fast but is very helpful if you ask any questions. She is willing to help anyone improve or get better marks. This class is a GPA booster! I would recomment her!

good teacher
Annie is a very kind teacher, who cares for her students while still teaching fairly.
She's fast and she doesn't give breaks in class but i found that starring any questions i had and approaching her later with them that she was very receptive and very helpful. I got the highest mark i've gotten in math to date with her and i'd recommend her.
She is a teacher that realy cares about her students, it is clear that she is there to help us do better and learn more. Her passion for math makes the students being to enjoy math and truly understand its meaning. I would for sure recommmend her!
She is a hard teacher, but i have never learned more in a class. Very willing to help, and was an awsome teacher. I would take her class again anyday.
way to hard to follow, she goes too fast. dont even give you time to take notes! avoid taking her class!!
Annie goes WAY too fast and zips through her lectures regardless if you understand her or not. She teaches like she's teaching herself and not to the students understanding. The labs are always inconsistent with the lectures and the lab teacher is incompetent and unhelpful. AVOID.
She speeds through her classes so fast. The labs are a waste of time, you do material you did the following week, and even than there so useless. The lab is an hour long and the lab tech lets you out 10mins earlier. The acutal lecture is fine but there's no consitancy with the labs. It's a joke. It's pretty hard so make sure you study your notes.
If you take the class seriously, then Annie Marquise is a great teacher. Even though the topics can be boring she makes them fun and likes to tell jokes. I would suggest to any student that if they need to take a math class, take hers.
Do not take this prof. for statistics! She is horrible at explaining things, and seems to talk to herself a lot of the time, not to the students. Use your textbook, it is the only way you will learn anything.
Great teacher! Helps you with material in her office if needed. Always encourages students to stop her and ask questions for clarity. Recommend taking class with Annie. Study from textbook and go to labs and you will be fine. Great Professor!!!
Annie is an EXCELLENT teacher! She knows her math, knows how to teach it and genuinely cares about her students. I learned math and how to teach math; accordingly, she will influence generations of children
All of the people who are complaining about Annie didn't do well in her class obviously. She is an awesome instructor, she knows her stuff inside and out. She always adds a bit of humor to her classes. Go to class, study hard, and you will do well, and then you won't have to use Annie as an excuse as to why you got a bad mark. Go Annie!
Annie was a great teacher, very helpful if you had any questions, always made time for her students. Course itself was tough. Do your homework, study and prepare for tests and it wasnt too hard. Go Annie!!
she was one of the best teacher i ever had
She was great, I loved her
I liked Annie, only complaint, she expressed we shouldn't buy the text, so I didn't... we had 2 tests that were open textbook only... but I did still get an A
I got %98 (A+) in Calculus. Her class was a piece of cake for me because she knows how to teach. Of course retards may find her class "difficult or find her NOT Approachable"..hahaha.the only problem she has is that she removes the information as soon as she is finished wirting them lol gotta be fast
She is very clear and always willing to help. The negative comments on here definitely didn't go to her for further help and were obviously too lazy. She is perhaps the best math professor I have ever come across and dumbs down the concepts so anyone can learn. She makes math easy, and I have been someone who has always struggled through it.
She laughed at me for asking a question becausae she thought it was too easy! I had been out of high school for a few years and couldn't remember anything and when I asked the question she gave me a look and laughed. Anyways, this class has to cover a lot of materials so you cant miss any classes and you have to keep up with it all semester long
DON'T LIKE HER AT ALL . HATE THE COURSE
Overall, Annie is the worst teacher I have ever had in any school. She is very rude and extremely impatient (good luck taking all of the notes down). She lets class out 30-45 mins early every day. If she were to use the full 110 mins she would be able to sufficiently cover all subjects. I learned more from the Math Lab TA's than I did from Annie.
Never tried statistics before. This is not an easy intro as she is difficult to understand and follow if you don't have a math background. Don't waste your money if this is your only math course for an associates. I am retaking and i'm out about $800+.
Mixed feelings about her. She pretty much tells you exactly what is on the test so it's your own fault if you fail it. But I wanted to fall asleep every class. Clear when explaining chapter concepts but then did the problems on the board like she was at home entertaining herself. Funny and interesting lady when not teaching math.
Annie is one of the worst teachers i had. she is rude, and almost the whole class dislikes her. math lectures are all definitions of terms which are useless when youre doing actual homework/tests. i zone her out every class and just read my math text because its explains math alot better than annie.
She is an excellent professor, and is enthusiastic about sharing and trasnfering her knowledge to youBut this is math after all, so students should also put in a reasonable amount of work themselves. If you are having a hard time in her class, I think it's a strong indication that you haven't done your homework. Quit whining and go to work!
By far the best math teacher I have ever come across. The course has a huge time commitment and lots of homework but if you participate and do the homework, you will do well, if not, that's on you. Annie is extremely clear, knowledgeable, and passionate about teaching math. I have yet to come across such a quality math teacher.
Good teacher. Helpful but strict. If you're not willing to work don't take her class. Don't doze off even if you're not interested.. You will fail
Really a great prof. If you dont want to work you dont do well so dont give up. Shes a hard marker but if you study for the tests you should honestly be fine. People are a bit too hard on her seemingly because they do not want to work. Write down all the notes. She tells you exactly what is on the tests and lets you ask questions. Wonderful prof.
Very strict professor, rushed through the material. we were several classes ahead of the syllabus and i didnt feel like i learned anything from her. often gets mad at the class if no one answers her questions, and no one answered because she was rushing and everyone was lost.
Its not as easy as you think. Take the course is you are required for it. alot of explanations and writings for homework! Her TA is a hard marker. 2 mid terms, they are pretty fair. Final is cumulative. Out of my expectations! some math does get hard and tricky. "ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER?" LOL. She's very nice though. Just work HARD!
One of the best teachers i've ever had, she really wants to churn out good teachers. Just study for exams whatever she tells you would be in the exam
She is an awesome prof, Just attend all the classes and study whatever she tells you to, I am sure you can do well on the exams. But still, you need to work hard on this course. Come on...it's math class!!!
Very good class. she is awesome and does very good reviews to help prepare you for tests and exams. there is lots of work in her class so she gives no brakes. If you do the textbook home works that are assigned and there is lots to keep up with you will do good.
Rushed through all the lessons and her lectures do not reflect on the exams.
She is really nice! But this class was surprisingly hard! Honestly, I learned more from the textbook and my friends and the math tutor. At first I thought I would fail, but I worked my butt off and managed to pass. SO STUDY HARD!! and I took three other courses too.
Annie is a very well educated woman who has a lot to offer as an instructor. She knows her maths very well, she's passionate about her field, and foremost, she wants her pupils to do well in maths, even if that means pushing them outside their comfort zone. I'd recommend her classes any day.
Annie has clearly been teaching for a long time! You can tell by the pace of her lectures. Her lectures are hard to keep up with because she writes really fast, however you should attend every lecture because her notes are useful. To get a good mark in this course you must try VERY hard and practise math everyday... YouTube videos helped A LOT!
Very confusing class, made material harder to understand. Lectures were rushed and tutorial was not helpful
She loves graphs. she'll graph everything. graphs graphs graphs graphs
Annie is an awesome stats teacher, I took the same class last semester with Dan and failed and I got over 90% in her class, so people that say her class is hard, you probably aren't trying hard enough. She is 100x better than my teacher last semester. I would recommend her. She also does awesome reviews before the midterms and final exam.
She may teach very fast, but if you as a student pay attention and reread your notes, you may do fine. I took this class for the second time, first time with her, and second with another, and I personally find her lectures much more understanding than my current professor. I wish I tried harder in her class. Don't think this class is easy!
Annie was better than my last stats prof! She's very relatable if you are French or took French immersion, and funny if you pay attention. She's a hard marker but her quizzes make sure you're learning. Calculations are by hand and not with a calculator. Enjoyed learning in her class, despite my struggles with this subject. (Merci bcp annie!)
Annie is the worst teacher ever. She has no patience for anyone. Literally, comes to class, writes everything on the board, and then expects you to understand it yourself. If you ask her to repeat a concept, she raises her voice. Unbelievable. You have to teach yourself. As well, her french accent and horrible writing on the board makes it worse.
Annie is very strict, but a great teacher! If you work hard and do your homework you will do great!
Really difficult to follow along, so attending MathLab and tutorial is essential. Really funny when she wants to be; she can make the whole class laugh.
I have a lot of respect for Annie. On the surface she can be intimidating, but underneath I see a pleasant professor that is frustrated with mathematical illiteracy. My only complaint is that she gets visibly upset when the class can't answer her questions. I think this is an attitude that discourages learning. limaçon!
There were parts in the semester when i thought she would do the questions on the board just so she could prove to herself that she could. Not really in the mindset of teaching she basically solves a few problems and lets you tackle it by yourself.
do your H/W, you'll be in good shape. Pay attention in class because she flies over lots of stuff very quickly. You may not buy a graphing calculator because you won't have chance to use it. P.S. she hates calculators.
Annie comes to class and flies though notes on the board. You barley even have enough time to write it down before she erases it. She makes you feel like an idiot in front on the entire class if you ask a question. And she hates calculators which is the stupidest thing ever. She expects you to do it all my hand even on tests. Wouldn't recommend her
Expect to be writing notes all class. She goes way too fast most of if doesn't even make sense. You basically have to teach yourself through the textbook.
Literally the worst prof Ive had, her teaching methods are terrible, expects us to know everything and just skims over everything And her tests are freaking hard.
well everyone else is like OMG she so bad and blah blah, but she actually very smart and knows what shes doing. need help ASK her, NEED ANYTHING talk to her she human not a monster. i literally just did my HW most days and ended up with an A+. i'm not some smart a kid, i'm as average as it gets
Math is far from my best subject but Annie actually made it bearable. She's straight and to the point with her lectures but can (and will) take time to give you some extra help. She has a very dry sense of humour and will slip in a joke every once in a while which makes the class a bit more fun.
She teaches really fast, she expects you to understand everything right away. She writes formulas and equations without explaining specifically what they mean and what they are for. She rolls her eyes at you if you ask a question. I had to teach myself everything through youtube and the textbook, she taught me nothing. Good luck....
Don't know how good of an actual teacher she is but allows you to skip class without penalty, so I did.
Honestly. Shes not bad. She goes through the lesson a bit quick but I was surprised at how easy they are to follow. Study for the tests and youll pass. Plus she has a really awesome sense of humour.
She has a thick accent so it's hard to understand her. Would not suggest taking her class if you did not take Calculus 12 in high school. She also expects the class to know everything and will sometimes get mad if no one responds. However, her quizzes are pretty easy considering that the questions come from the homework.
She expects you to remember all the info from precalc 11/12, which is reasonable... I'm pretty sure all calculus professors expects you to. Do the homework and understand it, then it will be an easy A. midterms are basically homework questions. She HATES graphing calculators, but allows you to use them during tests. Quizzes are 2 ques from the hw!
The thing I disliked most was she not once used blackboard so you must show up to class to get any of the notes, and she covers a lot each lecture. She hated graphing calculators. But otherwise was very easy told you exactly what questions were on the tests so just study those. And quizzes were exactly the same as homework, even the numbers.
While the course is very formula based, Annie adds humour and tries to make the class engaged. She answers all questions during and after class and is very accommodating if you need help.
She doesnt even teach in class just writes some examples on the board and answers herself. Be ready to teach yourself everything.
Dont even go to class , itll be a waste of time. Flies by the lectures, giving 2-3 lessons per lecture. Gives examples, solves them on her own and moves on. Be prepared to spend hours on your own time teaching yourself the material.
I agree with others saying that her lectures are not that good. She kinda rushes through her examples and I feel like most of the students never really understand anything that she does. But, she gives really good reviews before tests and her tests are very reasonable. I studied by watching professor Leonard's and organic chemistry tutor's videos.
Shes nice but a hard class, I feel like she made this class a little harder than shouldve. Use other resources for help..
She needs to retire. Outside of the class she is very sweet and charming, but she has the temper of viper and her in class work is almost useless. Her accent is another charming part of her, but not good for class. She writes too small, speaks too low, and gives way too much homework. Shes the last of her kind, tough love type that doesnt fit today
Course itself requires COMMITMENT. Lectures went REALLY fast-- just furiously copying down notes from the board. She also has a passive aggressive attitude sometimes. Tons of homework: 30 questions per week, only 5(!!!) get marked. Would not recommend. (**if you plan to transfer to SFU for PDP, take the equivalent course over there)
She's kind of nice but talks down her students often, speeds through lectures, doesn't explain examples well, doesn't give the class a bathroom break. If the class couldn't answer the question she was asking fast enough she would loudly go "COME ON" like we were little kids. Be prepared to teach the course to yourself.
Annie can seem a bit off-putting at first but shes really nice and will go over examples multiple times to make sure everyone understands! Quizzes were generally easy if you actually pay attention and do the homework (not graded but helpful). Shes also a pretty lenient marker for tests as long as you do the right formulas. Shes the best!!!
Very clear, organized notes. Fast lectures b/c she wants to have 2-3 review days. She appreciates questions. Gets impatient when people ask questions she JUST answered. Easy quizzes. Midterms are identical to practice test. Hw questions are suggested not mandatory. No trick questions. Understand her notes and the hw! Don't fall behind and work hard
Annie is such a caring teacher really encourages questions. Textbook questions are helpful to do but aren't required. Weekly quizzes are super straight forward (5 mc questions 30 mins). The midterm was very similar to the practice midterm and she prepped the class well for the final. There is a group work portion to the class during the tutorial.
I took classes during Covid (So online) and any time somebody had a question she would tell them to go ask the math lab outside of class time but she still had time to spend half the class complaining about people who she knew weren't really there as they weren't answering her polls. Very rude, not helpful.
Quiz every other class. Demeaning and belittling to students who ask questions which are "too simple". Expects you to immediately understand every concept. Lectures far too fast (writes an example, solves it on her own at full speed, then erases it). My notebook is full of half done examples.
Fast lectures with lots of examples, can come off a bit condescending at times otherwise fairly nice and helpful. Review algebra and trig. Quizzes are ripped from the homework its an easy 10%. Don't skip review classes she literally tells you what's gonna be on the test. No nonsense prof, knows her stuff. Taking her class improved my math ability.
Super rude and condescending. Never explains the examples and expects you to know everything. Gives lots of textbook homework questions and no marks are based off of assignments.
Annie was a great professor! She worked hard to make sure everyone was interested and having fun! The math could be difficult but she openly encourages asking her to stop and re-explain if there is anything you don't understand.
If you don't have a STRONG background in precalculus, choose another prof. She's not unfair, she wants you to truly learn the language of math, but you must already be VERY competent in precalc. Will not even briefly review previous concepts/how to use them (ie; trig, logs, etc). She's discouraging, & made me feel hopeless. TA Priyanka is amazing!
Annie can be a bit scary at times and sometimes so rude to some students, not me. I learnt almost nothing, but I passed!
My mate said shes terrible so here it is
Annie is a sweet lady, however she erases the board to fast, If your Pre Calc 12 is not strong do not take her as she belittles her students for not having a strong foundation and will not give you a brief lesson to catch you up. She gave us the supposed formula for the hardest unit on Final exam, test day came and it was no the same formula /:
Classes usually ended early as she didn't teach in depth. Notes are not posted so if you miss class make sure you have someone to give you notes. The course itself wasn't hard but I'd be scared if I did calc with her. Lectures were funny she would always roast the class Listen in class to do well as it's hard to learn elsewhere. Fun class
The atmosphere in class was very negative. Quizzes, assignments, and tutorials felt disconnected. She gave lots of practice problems which were very helpful. She was nice with grades and partial marks as long as you tried and wrote something down. She was willing to help and answer any questions, and expected people to participate in lecture.
Annie is so awesome, she's super skilled with stats/math and explains concepts well. Do practice sets to prepare from quizzes as they are extremely similar. She can seem stern but does want you to succeed. attend class.
she's got a super thick French accent and the class is straight-up boring. Had to teach myself everything cause she can't really teach. The only good thing is that the exams are pretty much the same as the review questions, and she's an easy marker.
Annie was an interesting professor - her lectures could be hit or miss, but staying engaged and using resources like unstuck ai for study prep really helped me do well in the class. The workload was manageable, and she was fair with grading.
She gives the same questions from review day on the exams, which is super helpful, and she's a really easy grader. But ngl, the lectures are pretty boring, so I just taught myself everything
While this professor teaches very well her attitude to her students success and her method of motivation being to put down and to belittle her class was not kind or helpful, when the students didn't participate in the lengthy monotonous examples she chooses to raise her voice and degrade her students. She is a good teacher but very unkind
annie seems nice however her lectures are very fast paced and it seems that she answers the problems for herself and her own sake rather than helping the class out and actually explaining it. the practice exams are helpful, however she is very unclear and when you try to reach out to her she is very general and doesnt actually answer your question.
if u need the class take it with someone else to fully learn everything in depth
nope nope nope
