Very approachable. I dunno if he just looks that way, but he always has a smile on his face. Techniques are good. He'll tell you about an upcoming pop quiz, but not tell you the exact day; This will encourage u to study, yet punish those who don't.

Clear and straight forward tests and great sense of humor. But 1/2 the class gets A's in his class so makes ur stomache sick to see all your pharmacy, medschool, dentistry, or physitherapy competitors doing so well. Recommend this prof. to everyone.

Very nice guy, jokes in class and keeps his lectures interesting. Exams are pretty fair, but he's very specific for answers (almost word for word according to his notes). i've had the opportunity to have him teach me twice(did not fail). he's an excellent teacher. explains things really well. basically listen in class and read over the notes once will get you at least a "B" in this class. would love to have him teach me again.

Really good teacher. Makes class very interesting. He gives great examples so pay attention - attending class is a must though, as his quizzes and midterms all come directly from the class notes. You'll never have to read the confusing textbook though - I have not opened it to date and it's well past midterm time. Highly recommend him.

Anoush organizes notes clearly and gives interesting and relevant examples in class. Handles and acknowleges objections due to religious or political beliefs well and keeps the class going. He does marks exams hard but getting a B should not be a problem if you attend class regularly and try not to study just the night before.

The textbook is crap, but as long as you actively pay attention in class you'll be fine. There are no trick questions on the midterms or quizzes, everything came directly from the handouts, but he does sometimes ask questions on the insignificant details you didn't think were important. I'd take his classes in the future.

I had Anoush about a year ago for 1190. and I took 1192, 2290 & 2291 with other instructors... I can honestly say Anoush is one of the best instuctors I've had... he's clear, fair. and his classes won't put you to sleep. For those who are complaining are probably lazy students who need to grow up a little. I highly recommend this instructor!

First off, saved me about 100 bucks because he did not use the text at all and he told us this. Very straightforward, gives you the notes, study them and you will get an excellent mark. Provides mmenoic devices and translations to aid with memorization too. No surprises on his quizes/tests. Um, I guess he is hot? But yes, a very good teacher.

I can say that Anoush is one of the better bio teachers in Langara.. his notes are very clear and you dont need to use the textbook.. his tests and quizzes are all based on his notes so if you study the notes and pay attention in class you'll get a good mark

Clear notes, tests on what presented. However, he does smell. His office does reek of him. Try to meet him elswwhere. Subdued lighting in office kind of creepy, too.

If you are not a good notes taker, dont take his class and he loves to teach you some extra stuffs from outside materials and exam you for those, his exam is hard espeically when comes to muitiple choice.

Anoush is the best! He's very clear, obviously you have to attend class to learn the right material for the exams. His notes are all online and you just print them and fill them in during the lecture. All around great teacher, it's easy to do well if you go to class study.

Highly recommand Anoush if you wants to get good grades, but he may not talk about all the concepts in the text so you might not learn a lot. exams are VERY straightfoward basically are fill in the blanks and mini short-answer questions. you only need your notes for studying because he REALLY just ask the questions he put on the nots!! Transferable course to UBC BIO 140. Highly recommend taking this class at Langara if you plan to transfer. Anoush is a phenomenal prof. Very clear and no textbook use required. Attendance is very mandatory as all exams are based purely on lecture. Coherent and marks fairly.

BEST PROF EVER. He's super clear and wants all his students to succeed. Go to all his classes because he has fill in notes that you will need to be there to answer. Classes are super interesting because he adds stories that are mostly related to the topic. He is very open to questions and will clear up everything that you need.

He is a good professor. His testing style is not fair for Biology exams he requires charts and written exams. It makes me feel like I'm in a english or business class. It is not my preferred testing style so i dropped his class. He marks of for spelling also.

One of the best biology teachers out there period. Anoush really makes learning fun and it is simply impossible to not do well in this class. If you didn't, it is simply because you did not try hard enough, which begins with attending every class. Notes and test material are entirely based off lectures, so make sure you attend.

Probably the most down to Earth instructor I have ever had. Very inspirational, makes biology fun and always has hilarious storiesexperiences to share with the class. He's not easy though. You do have to take TONS of notes and honestly when explaining things he sometimes talks a little too fast and isn't really clear. Besides that, he's awesome.

Anoush is a really cool guy. He is always there to answer your questions. Relates course materials to his own experiences, which can be quite entertaining. Test questions are mainly pulled out of powerpoint and lecture notes. He will tell you about his trips, and you will want to go!

Not politically correct which is awesome. Absolutely hilarious, has lots of amazing and funny stories, very inspirational and usually clear when explaining biological concepts. Not exactly an easy instructor but hints at what will be on exams and you have to take a lot of notes. But I would definitely take him again. If you skip you will fail.

Anoush gave hilarious lectures packed with legendary stories and interesting material so I registered for his 1215 class. However, you need to make sure you record ALL the notes on the board as it may be on the exams . Pay attention, re-write your notes and clarify with him about anything you don't understand. Focus on labs, hardest part of course

He is a great guy but goes very fast during lectures so you need to either write very fast or record his lectures. Tells a lot of great stories. You also need to be very specific and mention a lot of points when answering questions in exams otherwise you won't get full marks for the question.

The best prof I've had so far. His lectures are super engaging, and always likes to tell interesting stories about his travels. I recommend recording his lectures because he does move through the material quickly sometimes. Study lots and a high grade is easily achievable Overall definitely recommend him!

He is a great Instructor who really cares about his students. His lectures are fun but fast paced. If you do what he suggests as far as studying goes its a guaranteed A but if you wait till the last minute to review and properly fill in the notes you're not going to do well.

I find Anoush a good professor. He cares about his students, and hints at what he wants; he loves compare and contrast, so if you do that a lot already, then you're good to go. I find his marking scheme roundabout and deflated: a one mark question requires two points; basically every written is a long answer question. Say too much and he'll deduct.

Anoush is an absolutely fantastic professor. His class is tough, but fair-- if you work hard and review your notes, you will succeed. Everything on the exams are from the lecture notes. Very funny teacher and passionate about his lectures. He teaches straight from his slides so textbook use was non-existent. His tests and quizzes were pretty straight foreword, however they are fairly time-constrained (the final was a bit less so). All-in-all his classes were enjoyable and he is an exceptional professor.

One of the best biology professor at Langara college. He is very passionate. Grading criteria is quite clear ( stick to exams marks ) No assignments, No i clickers, No projects or presentations. Anoush is a great professor-- he knows how to make boring material interesting However, the only drawback from this class is the grading criteria:2 lab exams, 2 midterms, 2 quizzes and 1 final only. This might not seem difficult for those who are on top of their homework, but its difficult to memorize so much especially with other classes.

The best professor I've had at Langara so far. Class is based completely off his lecture notes. Record lectures and spend a few hours a week typing notes. To do well in his class you will need to take great lecture notes. All his questions from quizzes and midterms are directly from lectures. His lectures are hilarious and he will answer the questions that are in the notes. His midterms and quizzes are straight forward. The class average for his midterm was 80%.

Amazing professor. His ability to explain difficult concepts in a simple and comprehensible way is bar none. This course contains a lot of content so study often. The main pitfall of this course is the lab portion because the lab instructor doesn't clearly specify what she wants. ALWAYS ASK EXACTLY WHAT SHE WANTS YOU TO DO IN EACH ASSIGNMENT.

Hes the best bio prof Ive ever had, I took him for both 1115 and 1215. It is not suppose to be easy to get good marks. Do what he tells you to: go to class, take notes, and record his lectures. His lectures are engaging and he always relates the stories he tells back to what hes teaching. Study hard and youll get the grade you deserve.

Love Anoush! He makes lectures very interesting and lets you record them which ends up being very helpful. I had the pleasure of having Anoush as an instructor in Biology 1215. He has high standards for his students but is fair, consistent, unbiased, and clear with his marking. After the first quiz, I became familiar with his expectations and did well. The class average was in 70 percentile and some students achieved 100% on test.

He is great professor but you cannot miss any classes and need to definitely put your work into his class. Record all his lectures, make additional notes on his lectures, you need to study there is lots of material to cover. I found his test were fair but it took a while to get used to his style. Anoush is my favourite prof in the universe. He is soooo funny and the stories he tells are amazing. It's not an easy course and it's pretty much all memorization, which is why you should record his lectures and make notes out of them. Then study the crap out of it and you'll do great!

I love his teaching strategy. He uses PowerPoints with questions that you need to attend class to find out the answers. It forces you think about the material and stops you from being lazy. I take a great notes but record lectures otherwise. He is extremely knowledgeable and lectures are so good, they go by too fast!

I wish every bio prof could be like him. His tests aren't hard; they are extremely fair if you attend class and study hard for your grade. No trick question, just straight out of the lecture. He's very knowledgeable and knows how to break a big topic into small portions in order for his students to fully understand.

I really liked Anoush. His exams can be a little bit long but generally, he makes the lecture so much fun i was never bored always entertained.

Anoush's lectures keep you interested in the material. For 2350, the lab was heavy.I took notes and did drawings in class and also wrote notes word for word from recordings. If you need General Biology, take it wish Anoush or you may be turned off by other profs. Questions from the tests come directly from the lectures. Study the notes thoroughly!

His Powerpoint slides are amazing with cool videos and pictures. He has a great sense of humour and you can tell he is passionate about teaching biology. I would definitely recommend him as a prof :)

This is the first time I was taking an online biology course. He forced us to stay on-top of the class material by giving weekly tests. The course was test heavy but I appreciated it because I would have slacked off otherwise. I loved his pre-recorded lectures, much better than my other profs. Recommend him!

Anoushs recorded lectures are short but sometimes heavy in content. Weekly quizzes sum up to a large portion of your mark so you can't slack off too much. He provides application questions in class that set you up to do well in quizzes and exams. Not necessarily an easy class, but he clearly loves what he does and I enjoyed having him as a prof.

He prepares you well for the tests but you have to attend the review classes if you want to do well since he provides useful application questions. I recommend him.

His lectures are fascinating and super interesting. I learn so much just by attending the lectures and taking notes. He shares travel stories, shows video clips from David Attenborough ('his guru' and mine too now), and makes the lecture content relevant to the real natural world and our ecological impact on planet earth. Definitely recommend him.

Such a great teacher! Very friendly and wants his students to understand and do their best. Shares a lot of fun stories during the lectures but makes sure to cover all topics thoroughly. No homework, a few quizzes. Exams are application/knowledge based questions instead of definitions but goes over similar practice problems in class.

If you want to genuinely learn about biology take his course. If you only want to memorize the information to get a good grade and not remember the information later, don't take his course. Provides lots of application questions in class to prepare for exams. You have to attend classes to do well. Highly recommended!

He's so genuinely kind & caring, & he actually wants his students to pass. he tells funny stories & his exams are actually applying ur knowledge on the topic. If u want a teacher that expects u to throw up the lectures word for word, that's not him. This teaching style ensures actual knowledge retention.

Anoush is a cool guy, and he wants his students to succeed. one thing to mention is he is the type of teacher who wants you to understand not memorize, he is passionate about biology and takes time to explain things. But if you don't come to class even if you know everything and i mean everything he will never give you an A so come to class!

The quality of teaching is very high. Just get all concepts and you good for exam. study by the end of each section, ask your questions and get all bonus marks. For exams be sure about your answer. he deducts mark if you are not sure. in total he is very nice and classes are fun :)

He is prone to small errors in his writing, explanations, and so on, but is very passionate, friendly, approachable, and makes his expectations obvious and the learning easy and fun. Sure to be a memorable and enjoyable teacher for any who get the chance to take one of his courses.

You have to go to lectures otherwise unless you are a magician, I don't know where you are going to get the content. Is this good, you might ask? YES, IT IS. The lectures are amazing! He's more clear than water. He allows you to record the lectures and my advice is to take advantage of this and make sure your notes are complete.

The class is "difficult" because is a biology course, is a science course. He doesn't expect you to memorize, you have to understand. The questions are not "What is the definition of", it is about applying your knowledge.

Participation is definitely a must, as he often mentions things in class that are not on the notes that show up on exams. Rewriting your notes, reviewing, and going to office hours makes it so a good grade in this course is easy to achieve.

Anoush's class has to be one of the hardest I've taken so far. His class is brilliant but hard. His notes were only available on the board so attending class was very crucial. Overall, his class has been a highlight of my semester and it was worth attending.

anoush was absolutely fantastic. well accessible outside of class during office hours however he never responds back to emails so wise to ask questions during lectures. thoroughly explains topics and clearly goes over what exams would look like. highly recommend

Anoush is a great prof. he's funny and kind. If you have any questions he's always happy to answer them. He is also very specific when marking the exams, if he doesn't like the wording you use you will lose marks, so pay attention in class :)

Anoush was great, He is more old school than any other prof I have had. His formats for tests made me re-think how I study. He stays away from a traditional format and makes you explain every multiple choice answer given. He isn't hard per say, but I am a firm believer you cannot pass his class and do well without a genuine understanding of topics

By Far the best professor I've ever had. I typically am very critical about biology lectures and how boring and hard they are to learn in at times, but anoush made this course extremely interesting/enjoyable. His tests are difficult in the sense they are very concept focussed instead of memorization and you need to go to class otherwise you fail.

Anoush is an amazing professor who bonds with his students on an academic and personal level. His lecture videos (which don't continue in 1215, unfortunately) are concise and answer the questions on his lecture slides, and his comprehension questions reinforce what you learn through scenario cases. Be wary of your word choices on tests and quizzes!
