When I first walked in I felt like I just lucked out. I couldn't understand her accent, she doesn't explain good enough, she does understand what a student is asking her and she loves the fact that her class takes up most of your time (she actually said this). She just pops up with extra homework during the week & etc. If i could leave i would!
Watch Out!!!Guys..I am suffring do not make this mistake... If you love your GPA try some one else. Horriable teacher. Not clear in the class at all try's to trick her students all the time(like if we all are playing some kind of game) Find some other teacher!!!! Shame on GPC to have teachers like her..there mus be some storage.
Hard teacher NOT RECCOMENDED at all. If you care for your GPA stay away from her. I am stuck in her class and suffring every single day.
taking her for lab, she is difficult to understand and gets annoyed easily.
In addition to what the other reviewers have said, she also raises her voice to her students and pretty much airs out your business.
Don't take this class w/ any other hard classes! She is difficult to understand. When you ask for help she won't give it to you, she'll just tell you to keep doing the problems and practice. How can you solve the problems if you don't know what you're doing? Common sense 101. I can't type what I REALLY want to say... Anyway, Horrible teacher! One good thing is that she has started adding extra credit work.
This class was by far the worst experience! The professor's communication skills are extremely poor along with "people" skills. Perhaps she would better serve as a chemist and not a teacher.
I'll admit that when i first walked in i was like "OH MY GOD THIS IS GOING TO BE HELL"! I couldn't even understand her. But she is very helpful and does want you to do good. She would come to school on her day off to help tutor you. Sometimes we would have a class full. She gives quizes every class and HW but it helps out when test day comes.
i dont know what the other post are about.. i am taking her class now and she is a great teacher. it may be hard to understand her because of her accent, but she doesnt mind repeating herself and she doesnt get frustrated easily.. i am doing good in her course and i ask questions until i completly understand. be a college student and do your work
people need to be responsible for their own actions.. stop blaming the teacher for your laziness.. if you read the material alone, you will do fine not to even mention paying attention in lecture.her lab is easy as hell. take her class. she is a good teacher for sure.
I dont know what some students are talking about. I took her class last summer and I got A. she is very intelligent and she is always open to answer student questions. Take her and you will not regret.
I found it very difficult to understand her accent. She moves very fast through concepts and seems exasperated when questioned about anything. She's a very precise grader. DO NOT miss any of these classes or even be late to class. She seemed like a nice person.
A woman who definitely knows her material and moves through class very quickly, and gives the impression sometimes that she forgets that the students dont' have a PhD like she does. Take the lower level Chem before hand and know the basics and you should be fine. Otherwise look it up and READ READ READ.
she tries to motivate the class but doesn't always suceed at it.
She is very organized with her lectures but moves quickly and covers a lot, so as long as you read before class, you'll be fine....I got an A. She was thorough at explaining things and very nice.
She is seems very nice, but she is not a good teacher. she moves to fast and does not explain anything. Her homework is hard and her test are very difficult! Dont take her class it will hurt your GPA.
If you love to only use your textbook and never relying on the teachers information this is your pick. Asking questions is taboo. If you enjoy a teacher with broken and hard to understand accent this is your baby, and not to mention that her writing is like works of art(cough "not" cough).
Geez, can't believe she is called "teacher". Her accent is bad, but worse than that, her hand writing on the board is sloppy and unclear. Forget about attending her class, you won't understand n e thing that comes out of her mouth nor her hand writing. This class was a joke. Her tests are easier than her useless homework.
I got an A on this class and wouldn't take her again. I missed most of the class and instead studied at home. Her accent and hand writing is terrible. Her tests are a joke. I recommend do not take her if u want to become a doctor or a nurse.
Her quizzes are the prelab form your book. She will write what you are doing wrong and tell you why which helps. She wants your lab results to be very accurate, and will make you redo them if there was too much of a margin of error, or a poor result. Had trouble hearing her in lab, so "stand" close to the white board.
She is very hard to understand and I sit in the front row. She has a very strong acent. when she teachs she doesnt teach she runs right through and if you blink you will miss everything. Best advice ever is if you take her read first and make sure you understand it. But i wouldn't take her again ever!!!!
She has a strong Indian accent. But if you TRY you can pass the class. Pay attention and STUDY. Its not an easy class regardless of the professor.
Stay away from her class. She is really smart but really should not teach. She finds it really hard explaining/ expressing herslf. Might be a language barrier.
She goes a little too fast for me
You can tell shes smart and knows the subject very well however her teaching methods are horrible. She talks really fast & her accent is heavy.Really goes around answering your questions. Be aware please choose someone else Dr.Greenberg is da best!!I dropped it b/c I knew I wasnt going to do well..:(
She is very good teacher and I believe she have clear explanation of everything she teach. No trouble with her teaching at all.She is very strict about the lab work and it is for your good.Good teacher.
i had her for 1151L, 1211L, and 1212L. heard bad things about lecture but lab isnt bad. follow the calcs she puts on the board before the lab and youre good to go (but you really have to listen to follow). shes helpful one-on-one. shes nice to you if youre nice to her. quizzes are like prelabs.
Great professor. Easy as all get out; explains difficult concepts step by step so it's easy to understand. Must read the book to stay on point with the lectures. Mastering Chemistry assignments help a TON! If you suck at math, you will struggle with this class! Wish I could take her for CHEM 1152 this fall :( Oh & you get used to the accent!
she was horrible! her accent is to strong to understand and she gets mad if you ask questions. her powerpoints are very good, but she goes way to fast to comprehend. i wouldnt take her again.
I took Dr. Dutta for lab in 1211 &1212. It is easy to get an A or B. The PC fans are loud in lab so stand close to the board start of class. Go to her after hours. 1 on 1 she is a gem. Those that complain about the accent and are in nursing should change majors. What will hapeen when you don't understand your patients? What's ur excuse then?
I took this teacher for lab. You can't understand her and she goes way too fast. She gives you so much work in lab that you get cramps in your hand from writing so much! She is nice, yes but what good does this do if you can't understand her? Fans are too loud, she needs a microphone. The work you have to do for your notebook is insane! HARD, RUN!
Hard to understand at times but she is very good at explaining as long as you figure out what she is saying. Kinda crazy, threatened to call security on someone for interrupting her lecture with a question about an equation. Wouldnt reccomend but easy A if you have good study habits and dont wanna go to class
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS...VERY HARD..VERY BAD TEACHING..VERY ARROGANT...i used to b shy to ask questions..but i realised that i am paying for this damn course and i had to ask questions..SHE GETS VERY IRRITATED TO ANSWER ANY QUESTION..TAKE SOME ONE ELSE...ORELSE U WILL SUFFER..HER ASSIGNMENT R HARD..OVERALL VERY BAD TEACHER AND ARROGANT ************
Dr. Dutta is very knowledgeable on the subject & willing to help. However she has high expectations of her students, grades hard on tests, & gives a TON of OWL assignments. As a returning student,I took 1211 over 4 yrs ago, so taking her for 1212 was not a good idea. It was like learning chemistry in FRENCH! And her accent didnt make it any easier.
seriously LISTEN TO MEEE. you will do bad in this class.. you can study for hours and hours and those tests are no joke. especially test number 3. that test might as well have been in chinese because it was undoable. she is terrible. i cant even..
WORST PROFESSOR IN THE HISTORY OF EVER! When you ask her to further explain something her response is always "refer to your textbook." or she does not bother to respond at all. Discussions:She does not explain what exactly she wants ,yet counts off when it is not to her liking. Costantly changes due dates, and does not offer extentions.
this Prof should not be even teaching at all can't teach chem at all avoid her if u take her u will hate your self for rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAVE YOUR GPA find other teachers for chem who can cares about your GPA
Dr Dutta is a great person and a good teacher. If you have a problem with strong indian accent then don't take this class. Her papers are difficult and quiz is confusing. She is always there if you need any help and she will ask you if you are having any problems in her subject almost every other day. If you are good with chemistry than take it.
Worst proff I ever took. Refused to compromise on how tests are structured. No extra credit ever. Average test scores for class were 50. She knew the material but not how to teach it. Tests have nothing to do with homework or lecture. Never take her. More than 95% of the class failed. No curve on test at all.
Awful teacher. Terrible explanations. will not answer questions, TONS of homework. SUPER HARD TESTS. you will not pass.
She's really smart when it comes to chemistry but has no clue how to take that knowledge and teach her students. She tends to get irritated when a student asks for further clarification on how a solution was derived. Works the problems faster than you can write which leaves you unable to actually understand what is going on. Not recommended to take
She is too fast Labs are confusing (so is the lecture) No extra credit
Very hard tests. A lot of homework with no clue how to do it. Awful teacher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!
Tests have nothing to do with what she teaches in class. TEST ARE SUUUPEERRR HARD!!!!
She does know the material but has a difficult time studying but don't just expect to be handed grades on a platter. Her tests had extra credit points at the end and she did offer extra points throughout the semester. Read the textbook outside of class and do the homework and it should help. A tough teacher but chemistry is a hard class to teach
she does not know how to teach chemistry. wount teach you anything in class but give you the problems in test.
Chemistry is a hard class but she makes it harder because she does know the material well but doesn't know how to teach it and gets upset when students ask for further explanation. GPC should consider student feedback. She makes Chemistry harder than it is.
When you read the ratings, do not make the exception with her! She is hard to understand and is horrible at explaining things. If you can self teach yourself you will be fine, otherwise DO NOT take this teacher! Not sure how she even gets paid to "teach" because that is not what she is doing? Also, she speaks to you like you are a child!
4 tests in class are very tough, but she is very sweet whenever you need help. She does make an extra hours in library to help students with any questions.
She's very nice, knows the subject, but can't teach. She gets frustrated when you ask her to go back and explain the material. The tests were hard, and I don't feel that the OWL homework really correlates with the material given on the test. You practically will have to live in her office to pass. People just stopped coming to class.
Dr. Dutta is extremely hard to understand in class, and does not take kindly to being asked to clarify information. Unless you are prepared to teach yourself Chemistry I would not recommend taking her class. While she tells students to come to office hours it is mostly another arena for her to tell students they have not practiced/studied enough.
In this class now and its rough glad i took survey of chemistry because this is a review our class is a pretty depressing place
Always willing to help. Will explain things as many times as you need it to understand.
She is very nice, really cares that her students do well. She does her best to help, but you need to ask questions. The lecture is very hard to understand, mostly because the material is difficult. when is came to chemical bonding it was very hard to understand her explanations. will only pass if you take time outside of class.
Could not understand her, She speaks through her lectures extremely fast and writes just as fast. Is willing to help but gets frustrated when you ask her to explain again . She also expects everyone to understand at her level.
I'm a student coming from Georgia Tech and taking this class at GSU because I lived at home for the summer. Do not take this professor if you aren't prepared to spend 20+ hours on homework a week without including studying. The tests were way harder than they needed to be, and I had absolutely no life all summer. Getting an A is possible, but HARD.
She is hard to understand during lecture so I look at the notes shes writing on the board but can't read them. She abbreviates words which makes taking notes like deciphering code but won't answer your question if you ask what she said/wrote. Also TONS of HW and the tests are hard. Shes a very nice woman and knows the subject well but cant teach it
she is the worst teacher that i ever seen in my life!! she doesn't know how to teach! if you care about your GPA do not take her!! she is awful.
She is the best instructor ever. The last time I took chemistry was 17years ago and couldn't remember almost all I learned in high school. She made it easy for me. no doubt that the class itself is difficult but she worked with me to make sure I pass the class. She gave lots of homework and extra credits. Available always to answer your questions.
I took 1211L lab with her in Spring. She demos every lab, provides extra credit, and grades fairly. If you attend every lab, you will be fine. If you take pre-lab quizzes, you will be ready. She takes care of student needs individually and helps to get good grade. She is always available to answer any questions after lab and during office hours.
I took professor Dutta over the summer for chem and she was amazing. She made things easy and she deserves a better rating. I loved her teaching method and is honestly one of the best science teachers i have taken. She gave us a lot of extra credit opportunities as well. I passed her class with an A.
Took CHEM I with her. Easy to understand, follow class lecture regularly and read study guides. Tests are not hard, no surprises, gives lot of extra credit. Homework are not heavy. Always available outside of class. Does extra review sessions every week. Passed the class with A. Recommend others to take her.
Prof. Dutta is a nice person and a good teacher, I definetely think she deserves a better rating. Her lectures are fun, she puts a lot of effort to make learning easy, tests are not hard if you check her review notes and attend her extra review sessions. She also gives you extra credits if you're willing to take them. I passed the class with A+.
Took 1151 lecture. Found her excellent. Lectures are not hard to understand. Grades fairly, easy exam, no surprises. Posts review notes before exam and gives extra credit. Chemistry can be sometime challenging and you need to be present in every class. If you attend classes, follow directions, do HW will get an A. Super nice, always available.
I found Miss Dutta to be a little challenging but I think overall she is a great teacher. Its a little hard to keep up especially when your in a summer semester. Maybe I wouldn't take her in a summer semester again. I'd say do your work, pay attention and dont skip class. She gave us TONS of extra credit. Created her own Ebook so no textbook needed
Dr. Dutta is amazing! took 1212 lab with her in summer. She made labs so easy. Her grading was fair. She gave extra credit in lab assignments. Her quizzes were okay if you follow procedure and calculation. Final exam was easy and she reviewed before final. I learned more in her lab than in lecture. Definitely recommend her for CHEM II lab.
Dr Antara is a good professor but it difficult to understand her I took her for summer and sincerely I pass bc of her hw bc I din't understand anything she thought. If you not that good and chem don't take her bc she is hard, but if you can understand just by doing your hw and study alone you okay. She gives a lot of extra credit a lot
I took Dr. Dutta's CHEM 1151 in summer. She explained everything clearly. Offered online free textbook and zero cost homework program which was great. She allowed to retake the quizzes so students learn better. She offered lot of extra credit assignments. Her tests are directly based class lecture, curved the final exam. Take her. She is great !
I enjoyed Dr. Dutta's Chem 1211 class in spring. She is easy to understand, uses free online textbook. Tests are not hard, always available to help. Gives lot of extra credit assignments. Very caring person, flexible with due dates if students need more time. Curved final exam and gave practice final. I like her and would like to take her again.
Dr. Dutta means really well but she does not explain any material clearly or in an easy to understand way. I made a high A in her class thanks to TONS of extra credit, but I studied more than I have for any other science course. She is very willing to meet with students after class and did a weekly "tutoring" session.
I am taking CHEM 2 with Dr. Dutta. Her lectures are amazing! I clearly understand the class materials. Gives few homework questions lot of extra credit. Her quizzes and tests are not hard if you attend class. She writes everything to explain clearly. She gives class exercise and checks everyone's work. She is great! I would take her again.
Dr. Dutta genuinely wants to see her students do well. She gives extra credit opportunities and is happy to work with students outside of class. Her exams are 70% multiple choice 20% written response. She does not explain concepts in depth though which made the class difficult for me. Overall, she is a good prof and so nice. Just be ready to study.
I took 1211 in Spring 20. Her lecture is very good, easily understood, helps with home work. Tests are based on lecture materials, no surprises. Lots of extra credit are available, truly caring, always available for extra help. Makes sure students get good grades. Always well prepared for the classes. I enjoyed and learnt from her class.
Professor Dutta is a fair teacher in that she gives good extra credit opportunities on tests so it's easy to have a high test average. However, it's unclear what makes up the full grade and random quizzes and attendance can hold you from an A. She doesn't make the tests hard but you have to do a lot of self studying.
I have taken CHEM 1212 lecture and lab with Dr. Dutta. Her lectures are amazing! I clearly understood the class materials. Provided few homework questions, lot of extra credit. Her quizzes and tests are not hard if you attend class. They are all scheduled on iCollege. She writes everything to explain clearly. She is great! I would take her again.
I have taken CHEM 1212 lecture and lab with Dr. Dutta. Her labs are very good. She gives demos before very lab. She is always available outside the lab for HELP. Her quizzes are not hard if you attend the labs. She gives extra credit as well. Her grading is fair. She writes everything to explain clearly. She is great! I would take her again.
She is friendly, but unfortunately, the way she teaches is not for everyone unless you got your science classes together or are not smart enough; I don't recommend her.
She is a gem! She does tutoring, helps outside of her office hours. She goes over materials in class. her reviews are very helpful. I would like to take her again.
I like her teaching style. She does extra credit activity in the class. She is always available to answer any questions. If you follow her notes on iCollege, you will do fine in the exam and get A. I recommend her to anyone.
Chemistry is hard but her teaching does not make things harder. She explains the class material with lot of examples. Her exams are not hard and she does review before exams which helps to get A. She is flexible with the due dates. I enjoyed her class and recommend to anyone.
Very nice lady but her lectures can get messy. She'll teach 6 different topics in one sitting and ur brain starts to hurt lol. She's not strict about attendance but she'll keep going until time is up. She gives lots of extra points and credit so she wants to help you. She's not the best teacher but she's good.
Dr. Dutta is an amazing professor I have ever seen. She is caring, dedicated to student success. Her labs are superb. She can really explain the subject. She uses online simulations, hands on activity in class, extra review to make sure everyone understands. She gives lots of extra credit to boost grades. I would like to take her again.
I took chem1 in 2015, and I had to tell my experience. Her lectures weren't focused, she wrote on the board in a messy way and didn't deliver clearly. Her accent isn't the problem, it seems like she doesn't know what she's doing! I am finishing up my master's and doing fine now but I don't forgive her for ruining my confidence & science and my GPA.
I took Professor Dutta for Lab 1212L this semester. Her labs are very organized and she explained everything very clearly. I would like to thank her for tutoring me before class, and for encouraging me to do my best this semester. I appreciate her commitment to her craft; and I am inspired by her work ethic in the lab.
I loved 1151L lab class, there were only 7 of us in the class, and it was great. I love Dr. Dutta's teaching style; there was lots of extra credit, and the exams were easy. The hands-on lab was fun. There was a lab report at the end, and it was easy. Some of us begged her to teach Chem 1152. So hopefully, she does. I recommend her!!
I took Dr. Dutta for both the lecture and lab. She is amazing and caring, but her notes can be a little messy. She gives a lot of extra credits and provides tutoring as well. Lab is pretty easy since instructions are clear, and you can always ask for help.
I really enjoyed being in her class, she makes chemistry easy to understand. She gives us so many resources to learn and opportunities for extra credit. It feels like she really wants to see us do our best, She has a wonderful ability to build confidence and proficiency in students in a subject as daunting as chemistry, appreciate all her efforts.
I admire and appreciate her commitment to students. Not only she has office hours, but also holds study sessions; students don't always take advantage, but her sacrifices don't go unnoticed. she is passionate about chemistry, has a ton of knowledge to share. There should be more teachers like her who honestly want their students to succeed.
I absolutely enjoyed her teaching. Her graciousness, tenacity in teaching even the most difficult subjects have made the most pleasant experience of my science studies thus far. It was fun having a class with her. She provided knowledge and demonstrations that made the subject less theoretic... I wish her all the best in all that is to come!
I am grateful for all of her help during "Spring Chem Class". She has always been there to help when I feel like crying or actually did cry, she has continued be positive and encouraging, making me feel like I can do chemistry if I just keep trying and practicing. I'd like to thank her for that and the patience with me as a returning student.
I really liked having Professor Dutta as my teacher. I've never been very good at chemistry and even though i didn't gets the best scores on the exams. i still felt confident because i joined the help sessions and also attended office hours. she was very involved and cared about if we succeeded or not and i loved that. Homework program was great!
Took CHEM2100 with her during the summer as a student from the downtown campus and she was GREAT. Super sweet and cared for you, she would do long help sessions outside of office hours to help with any last minute questions. Truly one of the best professor I've had.
Took Ochem 2 over the summer. The professor dismissed our struggles, blamed poor performance on mindset, and went back on her word about how she would grade the ACS taken for EC, added it to the final exam insteadof the final grade overall. Claimed iCollege misgraded, but she changed it at the last minute. Felt unfair and misleading.
She's alright. I've taken her for two classes (2410/1112) and I can say while I managed to succeed in both, it was not due to her efforts. Her lectures often talk circles around the information actually needed, and don't take her for gen chem if you want to understand the math. She begs for participation but will get angry when you ask questions.
I took her for both the lecture and lab. Exams were easy and there were regular quizzes to keep up with the material. She gives many extra credit opportunities. There were demos before every lab and her grading was fair. She was so nice and I recommend her class to anyone.
i took Dr. Dutta in summer for chem 1211. She was awesome! She explained everything clearly and grading was fair. She did in-class activity for extra credit. Aktiv homework was easy, quizzes were online. I would highly recommend everyone to take her.
I took both lecture and lab and she was great. Her teaching style is amazing and is a caring prof. She also provided opportunities for students outside the classroom for research, which was helpful. Great experience in lab as well and 10/10 would recommend.
She was very thorough in explaining content in class, making sure to break down concepts to make them easier to understand. Hw is light and tests weren't hard. Occasional quizzes to keep up with material, but those are not bad. Great class overall.
Dr. Dutta provided many extra credit opportunities and was always willing to help. There were additional notes along with powerpoints to go over the content. For labs, her grading was fair and lab quizzes were not hard. 10/10 experience and would recommend her to anyone.
She gives very effective in-class worksheets, and the active homework she gives helps a lot for the exam, so make sure to do those. Extremely caring and gives ACS final exam at the end.
Attended both lecture and lab for 1212. Exams are straightforward; she drops one exam, and the teaching is thorough and highly knowledgeable.
Online 1151 course is a must with Prof Dutta, the active homework is great and exams come in a timely manner. Quizzes help a lot and final exam wasn't hard at all. Quizzes are unlimited attempts and she gives 2 attempts for tests. She's always available during office hours as well.
