He is a great teacher, explains perfectly and will repeat if you need it,is a stickler for the no talking during class rule but it helps you own your sign language skills; If you do the homework and practice with people from the class it is an easy A,the key thing in this class is practice and he does lots of it. You can' be shy in this class
Need to come to class attendance is very important. He does assign homework and we present a lot. He does have us upload videos too. Easy class if you do all the assignments and participate. Professor Adamo is an amazing teacher and he is really funny. Hope to take another one of his classes in the future. (the book for this class is terrible)
Adamo is the BEST professor! He presents the material in a fun, informative way. Seriously, I've laughed so much in his class. The amount of info can be overwhelming but he goes over it a lot and is always there if you have a question. I literally wish I could take him for every subject. Tests are hard but he gives you plenty of practice for them.
Easy class as long as you do all the assignments and show up to class. I had a hard time but he always helps and answers my questions. I enjoyed going to class, and although we learned a lot each day he does a lot of participation and partner assignments.
He is a great professor!!! He allows you to learn so much! He explains things so clearly! Be aware there is alot of work and time that goes into this class!
Took Adamo for ASL 101 this semester, the class was a lot of fun even if it was late at night. He is very energetic and funny! You must attend class. The only thing I didn't like was that you do have to spend time outside of class which can be difficult. Overall great class, a lot of material, so take only if you really want to learn ASL
Very helpful and good at what he does. He is really into teaching and making sure you learn and understand. I would absolutely take him for every other ASL class if he would teach it. I feel like I learned a lot more than I have in other semesters thanks to him. Also, he is really funny and respects us as students just as much as we respect him.
He is an excellent Teacher. ASL is not easy, it is a whole new language so you need to practice. He will help you if you put in effort. Show up for everyday of class or you will fail. Must be willing to sign in front of people, very social class. Video assignments are frequent. He is a bit forgetful but he is funny and detailed.
He is a wonderful teacher. Make sure you do your units, don't miss class, everyday is important you will learn things that aren't in the book. Stay focused he does move fast so, do you videos and get to know your class. Make study time with other students and make sure you defiantly do outside activities and involve your self in deaf community. 3
He is an excellent professor. Attendance is important. Expect outside class activities by going to Deaf events to get more involved. He assigns the class units in the book, taking videos, & class presentations. ASL isn't easy unless you put in the effort and practice with a friend or classmate. His very helpful & cares about his students. :)
Pros: Easy 2 understand and he makes sure 2 help those who don't. Work isn't difficult IF u pay attention. He posts grades relatively quickly which is important if u have anxiety about ur grades like I do. He jokes with the class all the time which I appreciate as a pause between the long lessons Cons: Avoid if attendance is an issue for you
It is a fun class and also very interesting. Many of the tests are either videos, or in class presentations. The homework is easy. I would recommend!!
Cool Prof! Accessible to his students, gives good grades. ASL is not an easy class for those w/ no background, so expect sweats, MUST PRACTICE! 5 unit home works, 15 journal entries, 5 unit exams. CLASS WAS EASY just learn to communicate with Prof & the whole class. Will take again!
This is a great class with a fantastic professor! Be prepared to show up to receive credit for in class participation. He also requires "Experiential Learning Hours" (which is 10% of your grade) so you become more exposed to the Deaf community. He teaches commonly used signs that will help in conversations, and he is extremely helpful if you ask.
Adamo is passionate about his work because his life revolves around it daily. He is funny and easy to learn from. There is one big paper that can be worked on throughout the course and there is homework each unit and there is a lot of extracurricular activities. He grades fair. Remember you're learning a visual language, it can be tough at times.
Professor Adamo is great for a Deaf studies major or a student very dedicated to the language, because he is a strict professor. However, he is the professor you want if you are serious about the class. He is a CODA which is appreciated by students because he shares many real life expectations.
He's such an amazing prof. He's so funny and his lectures are so clear. If you skip a class you won't fail but you need to go as often as you can. You learn a lot of funny/dirty signs it's hilarious. I took it at night but his lectures were so fun it was easy to stay awake and pay attention! You honestly do learn in this class.
Adamo is a great teacher. He is passionate about the subject material which makes it easy to learn. If you are slightly interested in Sign Language & the deaf culture- I would strongly recommend this class. If you don't go to class you won't fail but you can fall behind. You learn new stuff every class. I promise you will learn and have fun!
He is patient and explains clearly in his lectures. Very fun class, but if you miss a class, catching up could be challenging. He is fair and the work is doable. Has a great understanding of the deaf community, after all, he is a CODA. I would definitely take another class of his.
Anthony Adamo is a great teacher in class. He gives the students the extra credit because I must have to attend the activities. He helps everyone if you do not understand the ASL sign and ask him to repeat sign. :)
you need to attend all classes, and spend the time attending outside activities for more practice.
Class is a lot of learning. Textbook is needed, lots of videos. Goes though many different topics. Need to know actual signs. His fingerspelling is quiet fast, but just ask him to repeat slower, and he will. It's a difficult class, but its lot of fun!
This class is awesome if you are wanting to learn ASL. You will have to show up to class in order to pass but he makes classes really fun and enjoyable. He is really patient and will takes his time to make sure you understand everything he is trying to teach. Over all an amazing teacher and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
i expected it to be hard like learning any new language but this class is so clear and interactive that you learn naturally. no talking in class after the first week really helps you learn and communicate only in ASL. He is the best prof i've ever had, really gets to know his students and makes every class super fun! highly reccommend choosing him
This teacher does an amazing job at making you comfortable signing with others, he gives you the survival skills necessary to sign outside of class and is easily reachable and willing to help you when you struggle. Because of the content I would not skip class, it will be hard if you do. Otherwise, not bad. I will be taking my next class with him.
He is AWESOME! I was really nervous taking a language class and he makes learning so fun and easy. He is really caring and will always help you if you're stuck with a certain sign. SUPER NICE GUY and is constantly making jokes which keeps us all laughing and makes the class go by so quick. If you have the chance to take him, DO IT!
Great class overall. Lots of opportunities and ways to learn. Great course, fun professor. Glad I had the opportunity to learn from him.
his hippy hair is great and he has a nice beard.. aside from that, really nice, awesome teacher, wants his students to be successful.
He's awesome. There's never a dull moment in class. His "lectures" are captivating. I put the word "lectures" in quotes because it's not like he goes on and on without any feedback. It's more of a constant dialogue between him and the class every day. You have to go because he goes over so much stuff each class. Easy to get behind if you don't.
Adamo made learning ASL a lot of fun. After a week the class begins, it is completely taught in sign language. The transition was difficult at first, but it will get easier with patience and the more time and effort you put into practicing ASL both inside and outside of the classroom and being willing to participate in class.
Amazing teacher I recommend anyone looking to get involve into ASL to attend his class! Do not miss a day you will fall behind but you will catch up don't worry. Show up and you'll do just fine I promise !
Absolutely amazing, I learned way more sign language than I thought I would in just one semester. But DO NOT SKIP CLASS. The participation that you get from classes you WILL NOT be able to make up!
He is a great teacher! If he taught more ASL classes, I would take them. He teaches well and makes learning fun and easy.
Professor Adamo is an amazing professor!! Makes learning sign language fun and understandable. I recommend his class for anyone in the deaf studies program or anyone taking it for the credits.
Wonderful professor and class! The class is conducted in all ASL, which may seem daunting when all you know is the alphabet, but he teaches very clearly and takes into consideration that students are just beginning.
He makes sure that you learn everything so when you go into the real world you are not signing the wrong things. He always is trying to help everyone out as much as possible.
He is very knowledgeable. Attendance is mandatory. He is willing to help if you need it. Overall, you do need to practice but he is a great professor and I strongly recommend taking his class.
this class was a fun class and the teacher does a great job teaching ASL.
Anthony Adamo is an amazing teacher! This was my first ASL class for my major. He tells you his story of how he's come to CSN. He's a very open welcoming guy and is patient all the way through. Adamo does have powerpoints uploaded so you can always keep up and practice while out of class, but also uses the book thoroughly.
Anthony is such a great professor. He takes time to help his students with whatever they need. No matter how long it may take for a student to understand what is wanted, Anthony is very patient and understanding. He is knowledgeable and makes the class fun. Participation and attendance is mandatory. I definitely recommend taking this professor.
I had him for ASL 1 and 2. If he taught ASL 3-5, I'd take him every semester. He has a great way of expanding on concepts. We learn so much each day. If you skip class a lot, you're not going to make it. He takes attendance and he knows your name. You can ask him anything. He can be hilarious. Do your assignments. Check Canvas. It's not an easy A
He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is interactive with his students, and his students are interactive with each other. I love going to his classes and the way he teaches is so helpful and amazing. I really recommend him if you are truly wanting to learn ASL.
I took ASL 1 with him and now, I am almost finished with ASL 2. So long as you come to class you will understand everything. He is a really good teacher and keeps humor in his teaching along with class activities so you'll never be bored. If you come to class and do the assignments you will be just fine.
very fun and easy class. Prof. Adamo is very open about his life. he is well known in the deaf community. this class is not for the shy since you are required to do your quizzes in front of the class. must attend class to keep up, and must complete sections in workbook. GREAT PROFESSOR WOULD TAKE AGAIN.
Adamo is a great teacher! What to expect : "voices off" after first week, 15 hours outside of class in an ASL environment, bookwork submitted online through Canvas, GoReact video assignments through webcam, Midterm/final with a partner through video, in class quiz "Deaf CLub" where you interact using what you've learned, unforgettable experience!
He's an awesome teacher and respectful of students level of understanding. He gives feedback and explains why feedback is given
Professor Adamo is a very passionate man. He comes from a Deaf family so you know that knows his material. He is an excellent teacher for those unfamiliar with ASL. You need to attend class and make and effort to actually go into the Deaf community and interact. (Practice makes perfect!) Very fun and informative class. Excellent choice!!
He is a great teacher. You need to attend class to pass. Be prepared to participate and you will always have a good laugh in class.
One of the best professors I've had. Make sure you go to class because it moves fast, but Adamo makes it easy to learn and really fun. Glad I lucked out and found myself in his class.
Professor Adamo is a pretty solid teacher. He is knowledgeable in his field of expertise which is always appreciated! Experiential hours are expected. There is homework you have to do with each unit, so the textbook and DVD's are a must. Attending class is also a must! This class is for students who are serious about learning another language.
Can't miss any classes because you will miss a lot of the material. To me, he was really different from my ASL 1 professor. He signs fast and always throws in signs you don't know but when I asked what they were he always took the time to explain them. He gets off topic a bit but always goes back. He is always there to make sure you do your best.
Professor Adamo is an amazing teacher, and gives good feedback. If you are serious about learning ASL and willing to put in the work, I 10/10 would recommend taking his class.
Professor Adamo is a great teacher, even in a language that you won't quite understand until the end of the semester. Attendance is MANDATORY to pass, as is the textbook. You'll also need fifteen "hours" of experience, but they can be earned through reading books, TV shows, etc. You'll also really get to know your peers. Great class!
Professor Adamo, is amazing. ASL is a visual language which means you can't afford to miss class. You learn more than just ASL you also learn about the Deaf community. Don't hesitate if you don't understand something go ahead and ask for help, he's a great professor and wants to see all his students succeed. I do plan on taking ASL 2 with Adamo.
It is a very interesting class it is taught with a voice off policy. It is intimidating at first but he is patient and helpful. He always gives his class the most information for deaf events and doing better in school to work towards interpreting degrees. He is very caring about the deaf culture and just wants to be able to give back and spread it.
Fairly hard if you don't pay attention and you need to practice out of class
The best professor I've ever had! Wish I had taken him for AM145! Too bad he doesn't teach AM147.
This class was taken on a whim and I could not be more happy with my decision. I was a little nervous that starting with the second class there was no verbal language allowed in the class and it was taught all in ASL but he did fantastic teaching in a way we would understand. If you are looking for a class to skip this is not it. You WILL fail.
ASL 2 you get way more in depth than ASL 1, I had professor Adamo for ASL 1 as well as 2. A lot of recordings but you still have in class presentations too. I would take him up till 5 if I could, he's always there to help when you need it. Be sure to always attend class you'll miss on a lot of material, ASL is a visual language remember that.
He's honestly a really great professor. But because it is ASL you do have to go to class to learn. But I would take him again, he is hilarious and makes learning fun and meaningful.
I have never really been able to pick up languages very easily and he has made learning fun and easy. You do need to come to class. If you don't you won't learn and you will be lost when you decide to come back. Most of our grades will be quizzes and recordings. Also make sure you keep track of due dates, but other than that I really recommend!!!
Your search ends here. Take this class with Adamo. You will NOT be disappointed. Just enroll. He always finds ways to relate to everyone and gives the best feedback as well as making it easy to learn. One of the few classes I looked forward to attending.
Adamo is a great professor but I don't think I clicked with him very well so I wasn't as comfortable in class like everyone else. I know a lot of my classmates enjoyed his class and his lectures. He is a child of deaf parents so he knows a lot and has been involved in the community his whole life. He is a solid professor and would recommend.
I took Professor Adamo for ASL 1 and I really enjoyed his class. The class is taught all in sign language after the first 2 weeks, which I found very immersive. There are partnered midterms and finals. There are quizzes with classmates where only one of you is graded. I got stuck with someone who didn't do their homework but my grade didnt suffer.
This course was challenging. Voice off began the 2nd week of classes. Professor Adamo is very thorough, patient, and funny. He definitely has a passion for and loves what he does. I would recommend him as a Professor to any student wishing to learn ASL.
No questions asked take this professor. He is one of the best I have ever had. He knows what he is doing and is easy to understand, even with voice off. I enjoyed this class beyond words. Show up to class, do all assignments you will not only get a good grade but will really take away a lot from this class.
A really great teacher if you ever want to start ASL. he was fun, caring and his lectures were clear and right to the point.
Prof. Adamo is a most excellent teacher. If you take his class and are learning-hungry, you'll learn more than just how to communicate in ASL. While he mainly covers signs, ASL grammar, hand orientation, facial expressions, etc., he sometimes touches on Deaf history and culture. In doing so, he further reveals the importance of sign languages.
Incredibly funny teacher. Nerve-wracking at first but very fun class. If you are looking for a class to just get involved in completely and make some really close friends, this is the class. It's a bad class if you're only going into ASL 60% in. Extremely good class if you're 100% wanting to learn ASL and will put the effort into it.
It takes time to get use to his teaching style but Prof definitely wants everyone to have fun and learn not just how to sign but Deaf culture. His style makes it intimidating to ask for clarification because he can go fast but once you learn to say "hey, I don't get it" he's completely understanding and doesn't move on until you do; plus he's funny
He is a very good teacher and every class was very fun. We had a lot of homework but if you do it and go to every class, the quizzes are super easy. You are going to end up spending a lot of hours on homework and experiential hours. Unfortunately two of the most important projects of the class, you have to do with a partner so beware.
He's a great teacher! I'd definitely take his class again.
I highly recommend Adamo! He is a great instructor and I learned so much from him. He is very outgoing and definitely cares about teaching ASL the right way. Everyone in class was very engaged and he gave great feedback. Class is very fun and very informative. Try not to miss class because youll miss a lot and be behind very quickly.
If you're going to take this, take Adamo. He is clear with grading and expectation. He doesn't hesitate to help and make sure you understand. The hardest part of this class is doing the experiential learning hours. You are required to go out into the ASL community and interact. If you can't commit to that don't take it
Adamo is one of the best teachers on campus! In the first three classes he made sure to introduce us into the class and told us what to expect. It was nerve wracking when he told us we would start having 'voice off' class and start learning sign but he makes sure you follow! I highly recommend you take him! Taking him for ASL 2 in the fall with him
Adamo is a fantastic teacher. He really cares about his students and teaching them to the best of his ability . DO NOT take this class if you are not serious about it or think you can ditch class and still be ok. This is class was kind of hard but I never felt like I was wasting my time in ASL. This class is worth taking, just take it seriously.
Awesome guy, cool class. He requires you to go out and experience real Deaf culture, or read some books! Everyone in class participates every day. If you're looking to learn ASL, I recommend.
Adamo is straight forward about what he expects in the course. After the first few classes, expect to be " Voice OFF" This can be very intimidating but, it is the best way to learn! There is a textbook for homework which is easy if you do it regularly. Participation is huge. His style of teaching is chill. He's a coolcat. I would recommend to all
This class is great, AM145 students will have homework & will have to work with the community outside of the classroom for an accumulation of 15 hours. In addition, attendance is mandatory.
Adamo is a great teacher for ASL 1. He focuses on getting his students to learn the ASL basics the right way! Homework is very lengthy, but only due after each unit. Do not fall behind on the homework and learning hours and you will do just fine. Also, go to class every day because his powerpoints might be on canvas, but the signs for them are not.
TAKE THIS CLASS! I have taken Adamo for ASL 1,2, and now 3. I wish I could take him for all of my ASL classes! Hes such an amazing professor and makes it fun and easy to learn. He gives amazing feedback and will help you succeed. Theres no midterm or final, just final videos to do at the end of each unit as well as homework for each unit.
He is honestly my favorite ASL teacher by far. He is extremely patient, makes sure you actually understand the material, and makes the class fun. If you skip class, you will miss out on a lot of great group discussions. Do the homework, participate, and don't be afraid to ask questions. He will help you with anything you need as long as you try.
Mr. Adamo was a great professor and he was very inspiring and kind.
For AM 147, he's a great teacher to dive deeper into the language with. He starts every class with asking of how everyone is, individually. Then he moves to lectures where he shows you what to sign, the variants, and how to sign. After that, he gets us into group work to practice what we just learned. The hmwk he gives also helps with our fluency.
Professor Adamo is an excellent teacher I actually changed my major because he made me realize that I love ASL and want to become an interpreter
I took ASL 1, 2, and 3 with Prof. Adamo. I loved every single second. It was challenging, but loads of fun. Get ready to work hard, but you won't mind it because it is so much fun and rewarding. If he was teaching ASL 4 & 5, I would take him for those classes too!
Professor Adamo cares about his students. He's a little fast-paced but you'll learn the criteria right away. Great professor. You will need the book for hw and its helpful if you need help. I definitely recommend this class.
Adamo is a one-of-a-kind professor. His huge passion for ASL makes the topic so enjoyable to learn. As a student, you get out of the class what you put into it, but if you're willing to do the work, Adamo will help you succeed along the way. I 100% recommend taking ASL 145 with Adamo, as this has been one of the best classes I've taken thus far!
Class environment is very active and fun. Adamo is one of the better professors I've had at CSN. Class work isn't too much, as long as you stay on top of it and get it done on time. Participation is key and practicing outside of class hours is highly recommended for retention. Great language class with an awesome professor, cannot recommend enough.
This class is very hands on, I mean you are learning sign language. Although he is not very strict with attendance you are going to miss A LOT of new information by missing one class and can be hard to catch up. Just show up & the class will be fun. You have the workbook for assignments due at the end of every unit, not hard just tedious.
wow! best professor ive had yet. he made the curriculum very easy to access and understand. he always communicated clearly and was there if we needed anything! class was always organized and so much fun. if you show up to class, participate, and do the homework (which is super easy), youll finish with an A.
Chill asf. It's hard learning ASL online but he makes it easier. Attendance is mandatory but it's chill. Would recommend
COVID- it's a "remote" class, not "online" so there IS live call canvas lectures - If you're interested in learning ASL I highly recommend (I was referred by a friend and I'm glad she did) I wouldn't if you're on the fence about learning it - I enjoy his class and enrolled early for it again. There's some book hw, experiential hrs, & tests/quizzes
Prof. Adamo is a great professor. He explains really well all the vocabulary. his classes are well prepared and he is really good with technology. one thing I really liked was the fact that he recorded classes which you can go back for review. even tho you have to complete some homework, this class is very doable to pass if you pay attention.
If you have Professor Adamo, fear not. He did great at teaching ASL remotely. Go to your scheduled classes. The difficulty rating is what it is because learning a language is hard. PAY ATTENTION AND GET INVOLVED. Big Blue Button is the biggest struggle.
Adamo is an amazing professor. He is super caring about all of his students and doesnt make anyone feel dumb or behind for not remembering signs. He is the reason I stayed in ASL 3 because he showed confidence in me. Was very accessible outside of class and made the best out of the online situation. I will warn that sometimes he gives a lot of hw
I took him for a class that was Web-Remote b/c of Covid. It's important to know that it's not an "online course" where you can come and go; you must sign in during the scheduled time. He's really great at making sure you understand the signs and starts every class with a review while interacting with every student. Make sure you practice your signs
Professor Adamo is an amazing professor. He truly cares about his students and he is the reason i am taking ASL 2 with him. Am 145 is an easy class if you pay attention. USE IT OR LOSE IT! its a true statement. His class is a live remote class which means that attendance is mandatory. Overall he is an awesome dude very funny. 10 out of 10
Prof. Adamo is truly a great instructor. As for the class itself, attention must be active to learning ASL. It may be daunting at first, but with the "jump in the deep end" style of learning, picking it up is somewhat quick. Prof. Adamo himself is very funny, well learned in Deaf studies, and patient. I highly recommend this class.
Adamo is by far the best professor I have ever had. Super funny, personable, gives clear instruction, takes his time to teach thoroughly and makes sure no one is left behind. Pay attention in the class, and stay on top of the homework and you'll do just fine. Voices off always, which makes learning the language easier. Don't pass up his courses.
This tiny space cannot tell you how amazing Adamo is. Be ready to try. Definitely practice a lot and pay close attention, otherwise, you'll be hurting yourself. Signing may feel a little silly at first, but Adamo will make you feel comfortable and if you mess up, he's there to correct you. Thanks, Professor Adamo! I'm changing my major :)
This was my favorite class each week. Adamo makes learning ASL fun. I learned so much about the Deaf Community, their history, and their language. I am truly fluent and can say that I am bilingual thanks to Adamo. You must be willing to learn, show up to every class or you will fall behind. I plan on taking ASL 2 in the future.
Be ready to learn! 3rd class he was signing and no talking. Class was fun, creative and interactive. If you do not want to learn, avoid his class, homework, lectures, must be in class, participate. This is college kids! stop complaining and get your homework done. He is the best professor, you will laugh and learn with him 100%.
Professor Adamo is definitely one of the funniest and greatest professors I've ever had. He does give lots of homework, so be aware of that. Class can be hard, but fun. This class taught me so much about the Deaf community and I learned to really love ASL. Overall, great professor and great class!
Professor Adamo is amazing. You can tell that he really loves teaching ASL. He's very funny and charismatic. If you are engaged and class and do the assignments, you'll be good to go. It was definitely my favorite class to go to. I would highly recommend his class and gladly take it again.
Adamo is a great professor, he is very funny. You do have to practice when you are out of class in order to be successful in it. The classes are a bit fast paced but go back in to view the lectures that will help!
Love Adamo, my only issue is that he's horrible about responding to emails so if you have a question ask in class. Avoid missing class or you will struggle, luckily classes are recorded if you're online. Tests are easy as long as you understand the material. Its a heavy class but super fun!
Beware if you have bad anxiety. I found myself with an awful sense of dread just by thinking about class. Voice off after two sessions. This class definitely puts you on the spot by teaching you new vocab and in that same hour you have to use it with your classmates, or making you sign ABCs and numbers backwards. Just not for me. Nice guy though
This professor is straight to the point & funny. If you want to learn you have to practice and he is always there to help out with any questions you have. He is patient and will have you keep trying until you sign correctly. Gives you time to practice signing with classmates. Would love to take him again for AM146 but can't with my schedule, sadly.
Prof. Adamo is an amazing dude. This semester was in person learning. He truly just wants you understand ASL and he has a way of teaching that makes it not so daunting. Joining the ASL socials and club has been a gamer changer. Get involved and Practice. must have 2 books for AM147. I'd take him for all my classes if I could. Thanks ADAMO
Professor Adamo does an amazing job teaching ASL! He truly cares about his students and wants to make sure everyone understands what is going on. There is a fair amount of homework, but if you do a few sections at a time you will be able to complete it by the due date. Everyone in the class is also willing to help one another whenever needed!
Hes an amazing professor I really enjoyed his class. Homework is easy basically as long as you show up for class you should pass. Hes really nice and sweet. At the end of every class he asks if we have any questions and hell answer all of them. Voices off for class but I think thats how you will learn.
I LOVED this class! He is funny and really enjoys teaching/making sure you understand everything. You will be expected to participate and practice during each class. Don't be afraid to ask questions! If you put in the effort, you will pass! Make sure to try to go to some of the events outside of class, they are VERY helpful!
If you are trying to become an ASL interpreter I do recommend you take the class. The professor gives good feedback and he makes the process of learning fun. Be prepared to interact with other students and spend some time doing homework. A book is required for the class that is where the homework comes from.
This class was intimidating the first week because we had to learn without talking but honestly it helps ! Show up to class and you will be fine. Homework load is a bit heavy but its easy and he grades lightly. Answers are easy to find. You will need the book for hw, but save money its at the CSN library for free. This professor is outstanding!
Prof. Adamo's an amazing teacher. He's got his assigments and what he's teaching (ASL 1, 2, and 3) down to a science. He's hilarious, empathetic with his students, encouraging, and manages to turn his classes into mini-communities. By the end of every semester, each of his classes I've attended, there's a mutually strong bond among the classmates.
Great introduction to sign. Voices off for the entire class. Great Deaf Club activities in class and outside of class, that really help you learn the language in a conversations sense. Kind professor with a passion for teaching, and a great sense of humor.
Honestly best Professor I had, just show up and try your best. He is super chill and helpful. Would take his class again.
I took professor Adamo for fall 2021. He was great, very caring and making sure we understand what were learning. Also do your best not to miss class, attendance does matter. In class you are encouraged not to use your voice, but the great thing with Adamo is he is hearing so before class ends you can ask questions.
Adamo is amazing! He is clear and concise in what he expects from the get-go. He is hilarious and makes each class an adventure. He wants you to succeed, but you have to do the work. SKIP CLASS, YOU WON'T PASS! I was part of the pilot class for online learning materials (no textbook) and it was a bit difficult to manage having no book to study.
Easy A. You can redo the homework tests as many times as you'd like. If you have good attendance you're pretty much guaranteed to pass. Everyone in my class became friends and overall was a ton of fun. He's super laxed with posting deadlines so that's the only thing to be careful of. Overall, it was a fun, easy, relaxed class. Highly recommend.
At the beginning of ASL 2, Adamo told us clearly how difficult this class was. Get ready for lots of new vocab and stepping out of your comfort zone. You have to be ready to practice lots and be sure to study, study, study! Lots of practice in your own time and be sure to stick with it. With Adamo as your professor, I think you'll be okay!
I loved this professor, I wish I would have taken him for AM 145! He is very caring and wants you to succeed. The learning environment is very open and understanding. This semester we switched to an online textbook and it wasn't hard. The typing questions were a bit difficult but other than that I had no problems.
Adamo makes learning ASL fun, practical and relatable! He tells funny stories and you can guarantee a good laugh at least every class. We did an online book this semester, it was fun, you can work ahead and makes it much easier to see the videos as you do your assignment.
I have taken Adamo for ASL 1 & 2 and will take him for 3 even though he will be at a further campus because he is THAT AMAZING! We did not have a physical book we did all assignments online and it was fairly easy, much easier than the book, you can work ahead if you understand and he gives you ample time to complete assignments and videos!
I had Professor Adamo for the first time and he is a really fun and caring teacher. I am already fluent in American Sign Language but taking ASL 2 with Adamo really helped me clean up my vocabulary which I'm grateful for. Professor Adamo is also accessible out of class and if you show up to class most or all the time then you will for sure pass.
This was hands down one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. Mr. Adamo is hilarious and very straight forward which I really appreciated. He is passionate about ASL and teaches it in such a way that is digestible and understandable! Highly recommend.
Professor Adamo was the best professor ive had at CSN He instilled a passion for sign language into me with his class i was able to connect to my classmates He uses only sign language after the first week,is always attentive in answering questions there is an online textbook that is very easy to navigate would recommend this class to anyone
Adamo is great! He gives feedback on our videos and is patient with the class. This is a course you need to be in, so don't skip classes you will miss a lot of information. Homework is online sometimes it can be a pain but if you talk to him he will help out. He's pretty laid back and I enjoyed the class. Working with your classmates helps too!
Prof Adamo is the best professor I've had. I've taken ASL 1 and 2 from him and going to take ASL 3 as well. He cares so much about his students and is super clear on expectations for presentations. You need to attend all classes otherwise you are going to miss a lot. Be sure to befriend classmates - they will help a lot in case u do miss class.
THE BEST! Very understanding, make sure you put in effort of course. Attendance is required for a grade so make sure you are able to make it. The homework online is fairly easy if you plan your time right. Learn all real world situation signs and conversations. Great class definitely recommend, even if not required.
Adamo is a great professor and has a straightforward teaching style which made expectations easy to meet. He's open to feedback, willing to help answer questions, and has a LOT of experience with a diverse range of people in the Deaf Community which makes his signing skills really next level. Homework is all relevant and attendance matters!
This was my first semester with Adamo, but wow was he amazing! Homework consists of exams (your GoReacts) and homework is the work in your book. Participation and attendance are mandatory, because: he actually takes the time to explain everything to you, takes time to correct and guide you, and makes sure you understand what you're doing.
I had professor Adamo for AM 147 this semester Fall 2022 and last semester Spring 2021, he is a great teacher. Adamo is always willing to ensure everyone understands the material being taught, but still, attend classes since attendance is mandatory. Professor is always accessible. Overall Adamo is a great professor to have!
Professor Adamo is a good teacher. I like that at the beginning of the class and the end there are a few minutes of voice on. The class moves fast so you need to pay attention. Class participation and interaction is mandatory as his homework and videos. Experiential hours are strongly encouraged. I earned an A in this class but had to work for it
partcipation matters if you want to pass, he teaches something different every class. He is hilarious, he tells the funniest stories and uses the best subjects to teach. There are a lot of group activties and they are mandatory.
good teacher. This is a visual language requires you to not speak while using. takes lots of practice& keeping up on hw. he gives opportunitites in class to practice. participation heavy, dont miss a class. He explains things well & is patient. He gently corrects you when needed. He is VERY clear on grading criterea. I didn't like the online hw.
If you're looking for an easy A, low participation class, this isn't it. Be ready to show up to every class & participate with other students to earn your grade. There is quite a lot of online homework, but if you keep up with it, it really is not that bad. Professor Adamo is very casual & laidback with a great sense of humor.
This professor is awesome! I really enjoy his class. I took AM145 this semester and I am still in shock on how much we learned. I didn't come into the class expecting to walk out with as much knowledge as I have. Because we are earning a lot, you HAVE to go to class or you will get docked points on participation. Great class! Definitely recommend!!
Adamo is a wonderful professor!! It is one of those classes that I got excited about going to. Classes are very interactive, and it is really important that you attend because a lot of the learning happens in class. Homework and assignments take some time but are not very hard. I highly recommend taking Adamo's class!!
Adamo is great at taking his time to teach a whole new language to newbies and helps you build confidence in your sign. If you're looking for a class to skip here and there, this isn't it. Participation is required if you want to keep learning sign otherwise you feel lost the next class. "Textbook" is online with homework, if kept up on, is easy.
Adamo is a great professor, I took his classes twice and was very happy. He makes learning ASL easy and very understandable
Outstanding class all the way. Signs the whole time, but don't worry - he's engaging and easy to follow. Very funny, considerate, and willing to help students. Participation absolutely matters, as well as outside immersion hours, but it's how you learn ASL. Homework takes some time, but complete it when asked and you'll be fine. Highly recommend!
I HATE THAT HE DOES NOT TEACH HIGHER ASL. He is the best teacher. You will learn the story behind signs. He does not pick on students but wants them to learn and will ask you to do it in front of the class. You can tell he love what he does and it shows! The GOAT (greatest of all time) professor. Online and book or just book required.
I didn't like the fact that he was late to class 90% of the time. however he did have a lot of stuff going on. Understand that because this is a more advanced class the teacher is a little more strict about your signing for your test- meaning that if you mess up in 1 sign he will dock you for it. My advice: ask for help if you don't understand.
Overall best teacher I've had. He gave constructive feedback, supported his students, was willing to help us succeed and gave personal encouragement. These things trumped the one thing that really bothered me, which is that sometimes he was late to class, which I personally didn't like because I'm usually a punctual person (sorry Prof).
Took his ASL 1 class last semester and I was more than happy to take this one. Incredible teacher, super caring, very immersive and friendly environment that really gets you in the habit of signing. Warning, he's almost always late to class, but it never bothered me. Try not to skip class, stay on top of the homework, and you're golden.
adamo was great. he was very helpful answering any questions. kept the lectures entertaining. a good grade was easy and simple to get as long as you put in the effort and wanted to learn. i absolutely loved his class and would encourage ANYONE to take him! the homework was light. and tests were not anything crazy
This prof is da GOAT! He cares about your learning and supports his students. By far the best teacher I've ever had. I wish I could take him for more classes. Highly recommend.
This prof is da GOAT! By far the best teacher I've ever had. Very supportive. Wish I could take more classes from him. Would highly recommend him.
Professor Adamo is awesome! Engaging lectures, patient feedback, and valuable practice - just be ready to participate. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for studying sign language vocab.
Professor Adamo was amazing. It was not an easy class - it was full immersion but that's the best way to learn a new language. He made class alot of fun. There was a lot of participation required. The class was small enough that made that easy. I 100% recommend him and I would definitely take his course again.
One of the best instructors I have ever had. He makes learning fun and knows how to keep your attention. When I struggled to remember signs he gave me creative ways to remember them and it has always stuck with me.
Simply amazing. If you want to learn ASL, take him as soon as possible. I've learned a lot in 4 months, and he makes lessons engaging and fun, and you get to know your peers a lot. Very helpful and a perfect teacher for beginners
I was very nervous for this since he doesn't use his voice for lectures, but I have learned so much in this class. Homework was very easy and straightforward. It is slideshow heavy so make sure to come to class.
I took Professor Adamo's ASL 1 and 2 class for the 24-25 school year Professor Adamo cares about his students and is knowledgeable with the material, as he is a CODA (child of Deaf adults). I will be taking ASL 3 with him, it's far from where I live, but it's so worth it. I strongly recommend this professor if you want to learn ASL and retain it.
Takes time in class to make sure you understand the material. Gives time to practice homework in class. Make sure you talk to him if you having issues, clear communication is key to success. Missing even one class can set you back, make friends and practice together. Deaf events are also essential for you to improve your skills. 10/10
This professor is awesome, his classes are immersive, so attendance is very important. This professor supports the deaf community and promotes attending their events to bridge learning as well as build community. I would recommend this professor many times over as he is well worth it, his class made me interested in attending school again.
He was amazing teacher i would take his class again i learned so much, and i had fun doing it the class was amazing you could meet some amazing people in there. you get to meet everyone and the whole class is an immersive experience. I suggest taking his class i loved it.
If you are going to CSN and want to take an ASL class, I would HIGHLY recommend taking Professor Adamo. He is funny, caring, understanding, and an incredible teacher. You will not believe how much ASL you absorb from his class, especially if you participate in the Deaf events. Take his class even if you don't want to major in ASL!! He's SO good!!!!
Professor Adamo is an amazing teacher of ASL. He made the class fun.
I cannot say enough good things about Prof Adamo! If you're taking ASL at CSN and Adamo is teaching the class you need, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE HIM! He spends the entire class teaching and the classes are very interactive. I hope to take him for higher level ASL classes. PLEEEEEASE give Adamo more classes! :)
Adamo is a true inspiration for learning ASL. He genuinely lives the language, which makes it easier to understand, connect with, and remember. The class is fully immersive, yet communication always feels strong and supportive. He truly cares about his students. The only disappointment is that he doesn't continue teaching the next level.!!!
My only complaint is that I was only able to have him as my Professor for ASL 1,2, and 3. Hands down the best professor I have ever had. Showing up is very important! Adamo is patient, hilarious, and very passionate about this subject. You will become fluent and learn so much if you do exactly as he instructs :) I wish he taught more classes.
I would retake his class any day. He never made me feel judged for trying. He always encouraged us to interact with other people who either knew ASL or are deaf. He was very funny, and he cares about his students. If you genuinely put in an effort, you will get a good grade.
Adamo was one of the best professors I have had. He is incredibly patient, has a great sense of humor, and never hesitates to explain things as many times as you need until you understand. He takes time to get to know the students.
