He's not the easiest teacher, but he's a cpa, does it for a living and has a passion for what he teaches. willing to help you at all costs. if you do the work, you get an A, it's that simple. he'll go to great lengths if you put in the effort
He's a great professor! But he's hard at times. If your looing for an easy A then dont take it with him. If you dont do the work and the reading then you wont pass the class. He forces you to learn the work. He's VERY helpful and understanding.
He's tough and you have to teach yourself and then he goes over what was is the chapter. It is no easy A. But he will help you out.
He is ok, easygoing and straightforward intresting but you have to write each week your opinion about the class for points, respond to few outgoing controverisal related to ac cases, do homerwork for pints, come t o class for pints. If you are systematic and do all of that for time you will get A-B.
This class was very involved. You have to do the reading and the homework to survive. I recommend the class if you are willing to put in the effort. This teacher has a lot of real world experience and is willing to help.
This guy is the worse teacher here at Central. Thinks your all going to be a professional accountant. The class is so boring and dry. Good luck staying awake and passing.
Hard class...a lot of work. If you're looking for an easy way out then don't take this class. He’s strict !!! But if you do need extra help, he’ll make sure to make himself available.
I got in A in this class, but I worked my ass off for it. You must read and hoemwork is graded. There are three exams and a group project. Weekly feedback required too. Only take this class if you are serious and disciplined.
This guy, does have a lot of real world exp, but he is a hard grader and expects too much out of you for a intro class grades the hw 85% of my class is failing and he doesnt give any extra credit, take this class with another teacher if you don't want to fail, nice guy, but just asks for to much then needed in a subject that is really hard to start
worst professor i've had at ccsu. stay away!

His army experience leads him to treat his students just as if he were our squad leader. This is an intro class and it should be taught as if no one has any prior knowledge of the accounting world. Stay away if possible or you'll regret it.
he is a terrible teacher. he should go back to the army. he expects too much from an intro class and teaches it like we are in the army as well. He has lots of real world experience but SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING!
This class required a lot of work. If you're not serious about it, then don't take it. We moved very quickly, and he expected a lot out of us. He graded the homework harshly, and required weekly feedback about the class. He was almost always available for help, and wants his students to do well.
HE SUCKED
He is OK as a person, but as a profesor he doesn't know to make the distinction between his class and his employees. He is to unflexible when it comes to grading. You putt a lot of work into his class and you are not sure you'll get a B+ or higher. Don't recomend to take his class if you care about your GPA.
Four exams he does not drop any. Makes you give him feedbacks which he doesn't actually take into consideration. He's got a major napoleon complex which makes him act like he's better than you. However when he went to CCSU he graduated with a 2.7... not too smart I suppose. GET OUT... he will seem nice at first but he's not... I REPEAT GET OUT!
This mans class wasn't a class at all. It was a tie and suit away from calling it a job. He graded way too harshly. I stayed in that class believing that i was doing well. As a matter of fact, he told me that i was doing okay. We had a series of test and projects, which i completed and received passing marks and i still received an F for the class.
Wonderful Teacher. Learned lots. Highly recommend to all take his class. Worth the time and money.
He is by far the worst prof I have taken so far. Doesn't give leway on hmwk, have 3 exams, cummulative final. He is extremely hard grader and if you're 2 min late to class he will lock you out. I would never take a class with him again. He also tends to pick on certain people and single them out. Take this class with another prof or you will fail!
I do not mind doing work to get by, but i put all my effort into passing and since he is such a tough guy he gives no partial credit got a d with him took it again with diff proffesor got an A i wonder where the problem is?
This class is VERY hard to do well in. He doesn't teach the material well, just opens the book and asks if anyone has any questions- not clear. Tests and homework are graded harshly. Take another teacher!
WORST CLASS OF ALL TIME! he enjoys a good laugh when his students all fail an exam, so do yourself a favor and don't ever take his class.
Absolutely awful class, most strict grading I have ever experienced. I spent a ton of time doing work for this class and still failed. Unless you are an extremely experienced accountant, avoid this professor at all costs.
Impossible class. Even 1.5 ease is too high. Avoid at all costs.
Granted, Prof. Beatman will try to help you if you're not doing well, and takes into account if you're trying, he's not exactly a push over. His tests are way too hard; to the point of being impossible. He also openly told the class that he doesn't believe in curving, and sometimes has an attitude. Take another professor.
Just stop being lazy and do the work. He doesn't want to put out a bunch of suckers that don't know what they are doing. He wants US to be the best, and trackable back to his teaching.
Expects you to know every single detail of every chapter. Basically only teaches out of the book. Never talks to you face to face just tells you to email him. Takes forever to post grades. Tests are way too hard and gives no leniency.
This teacher is absolutely terrible.. If you take this class get ready to live inside only able to see sunlight when walking to classes.. because this course, literally, is a full time job. Unbelievably harsh tests, tries to word problems to trick you, throws "suprise" material never reviewed in class. Six thumbs down
I Spent hours a day reviewing material and will still fail his class, See you soon summer school. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!
This class will consume your schedule. He tries to say everything is related to the real world but this is just an intro to accounting class. Tests are way too hard, When you call him to ask questions he does not help, and he will not give curves or breaks for anyone.
Worst prof I have ever had. Unless you are an accountant already you will fail this class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FIND A DIFFERENT PROF.
This is a nice class to take if you're looking for an easy F. Most BS teacher i've ever had. I worked my ass off in this class and it got me no where.
worst class/professor i have ever had. if you are look to have a successful semester at all avoid him at all cost. totally obsesed with himself and not interested in teaching anyone anything. BOTTOM LINE DONT TAKE HIM AND IF YOU HAVE TO THEN DROP HIM.
Worst teacher i've ever had. Shouldn't even be considered a teacher since he just reads from the book. Tests are close to impossible unless you don't have a life outside of accounting. I stopped going after failing the first two exams and refuse to take this class again unless its with a different teacher. Can't believe CCSU would hire him.
Good luck passing this course. Avoid at all cost. Exams are impossible and doesn't care if the whole class will fail. He thinks this is the only course we have at college. Drop the course if you have him.
It's not impossible to pass this class, but it is very difficult. I would only recommend taking him if you are an accounting major.
Not nearly as hard as everybody else is making this class out to be. Do the homework and read ahead just like the syllabus says to and you'll be fine.
Not a good introductory class professor
He's not that bad of a guy or a teacher, just make sure you go to class and do the homework and you'll be ok. The tests are pretty hard but there are no quizzes and only one big project you have to do.
Exams are hard and the project is ridiculous. If your looking for a hard accounting class, you've found it. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Exams are very hard and the 10k project is ridiculous. The book he uses is terrible too. If you want to fail, join his class.
A very no nonsense teacher. Military background. Ver knowledgable but a very difficult class. I did understand the material at the end though. If you are looking for an easy proffessor he is not the one.
10K project is the hardest thing EVER !! The online assignments are the only easy thing, and they are not worth a lot. TESTS ARE SOOO HARD ! Must be correct, no partial credit given. Don't take it.
The worst professor I've ever had. All what he does is read from the book. Exams are hard, project is harder. DO NOT TAKE HIM unless you are looking for F.
He is not a fan favorite. He is harsh, but mostly fair. Exams will not be returned, neither will projects. Project grading will not be adequately explained. That said, I learned a lot from reading, and doing the homework. If he keys on something in a lecture, odds are it will appear on a test. Put in the effort, and you will see returns.
Professor Beatman is a grate guy!Follow his syllabus, do your homework and you will be fine! Not an easy A, but I got a lot of this class. Definitely recommend people with accounting major! He is very helpful, willing to answer all questions. Nice person.
Prof. Beatman is a class act. He moved a final from the thursday of halloween to the tuesday after. This is what a real professor should be like. He challenges you realistically. Take short cuts thats your own fault. I wish I worked harder for him, and i still learned alot. Haters are gonna hate. Thats only because they didn't try. Cry me a river.
Beatman is a great person! He expects a lot, and puts a lot effort into his class. He expects you to read the chapters prior to coming to class with QUESTIONS TO ASK! The 10K is really not hard. It takes a lot of time to complete, but the material is easy. I only blame myself for not putting in the effort to get a better grade.
If you complete your work and study hard you will do fine. If you slack off dont bother taking him
Great teacher..knows a lot about accounting but he's really strict. Study H A R D and do ALLLL hw & assignments & you'll be okay. He says he doesn't give extra credit but I guess my class was doing horrible because he gave us a bunch of opportunities at the last minute. If you don't have to take him, DON'T.
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Very rapid pace and if you don't read the chapters you will fall behind and get lost. Gives A LOT of homework. Tests are hard. Very strict. If you are not an Accounting major, DO NOT take this class.
Here's a Beatman example for you: Had a huge project worth 17% of our grade due the same day as a super hard exam worth 14% of our grade. the only one who passed the exam with a decent grade was middle aged man who is ALREADY a practicing accountant. Don't take Beatman's class unless you absolutely have to or have tons of time to devote to it.
I should have listened to all the warnings on here about this professor. He's a nice guys but his class is very very stressfull and hard, especially if you have a full course load. I am currently taking the class over the summer because I received a D+ and I need this class for my major. He never gives curves or breaks! Avoid this professor!!
These reviews make this class seems far worse than it is. It is difficult, and it requires a good amount of studying, but every assignment is on a very easy to follow syllabus, so you know all semester what is going to be due and when. You can't expect to pass this class without work, but if you put in the effort you will do fine.
Worst teacher ever. It seems like he WANTS all of his students to fail. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
This "professor" canceled at least 50% of classes. The classes he did actually attend, he read straight from the text. There was no direction, motivation inspiration, or instruction. In my opinion, he robbed his salary from The University and the tuition from The Students! Do not take him. He is the weak link in the Accounting Department at CCSU!
Very difficult class. Professor makes it seem as if this is the only class your taking and bombs you with tons of work. Reads word for word from the text during class. The worst class i've ever taken, mostly because of the professor. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
He really isn't as bad as people make him to be. He will not go on until you understand the material which helps a lot. But, he isn't clear on what the exams are on he just throws 5 chapters at you and says 'go'.He doesn't email you back with helpful info either. Don't take if you're not prepared for loads of work!
He's nowhere near as bad as the reviews here make him seem but I can see why students taking him for AC 211 would find him impossible. Upper level accounting majors should be used to putting in a lot of time for their grade by now. Lots of hmwk is assigned and the tests are brutal but if you go to class and do the hmwk you'll do just fine.
Professor Beatman is not that bad as people describe him. The subject is hard so if you dont study enough you cant blame on him. For a military guy he is kind of flexible. He will work with you if you show interest. Please be 100% commited in class he is very paranoid when it comes to technogy use in class...
WAY TOO MUCH HOMEWORK. This class is too difficult for students who work. He treats the class as if it's his students only class and accepts no excuses. He expects way too much and thinks kids should be doing 9 hours of homework a week. He assigns 4 different homework assignments each week and follows little structure in his "teaching".
Terrible Teacher.. Does not look out for your best interest. Do Not take him
very bad educator. he will make u fail even if u know the material due to his teaching style. cell phone hound
He is a pretty tough teacher and is a very serious guy. Tests are difficult and there is little room to improve on knowledge that you did poorly on since you don't get your tests back. Overall, a good grade is achievable but very difficult with him.
If this is your first accounting class, DO NOT take this professor. He knows what he's talking about, but is a military tough grader. The project is way beyond the scope of a first year students accounting ability and is graded as if you were a CPA. One bad test and your grade is shot. Don't make my mistake!!
Takes an absurd amount of time to grade exams and projects, and grades them very tough. Took an entry level accounting course and was treated like an advanced level course. Avoid at all costs.
If you read before the class, come to class with questions, and do the assignments before the due date, you will get a very good grade. You earn your grade by doing what a student is supposed to do. Professor Beatman welcomed any question you have. No question is stupid for him. However, don't expect he will go over questions one by one.
awesome teacher. there's definitely a significant workload, but he gives you a very very clear syllabus that outlines everything expected of you. I really enjoy his teaching style. there is enough variance in type of work that you do for grades that one bad grade won't break you. anyone who sticks with this class does very well. awesome teacher.
Too much homework for an entry level accounting course. Does not bring back your exams and he expects feedback for his course at the beginning of the course when you don't have an idea yet how the course will develop and how well you can manage it. Feedback should be required toward the end of the course.
Such a bad professor. You will not understand his lectures.
EXTREMELY tough teacher, only take him if you wanna put TIME into the class you are an accounting major. If you are any other major besides accounting do not take him. Terrible.
Such a hard class because of the professor. Do not recommend taking him. Very rude also, very very rudd. STRICT attendance
Very difficult class due to amount of homework. Tests are reasonable. Professor doesn't respond in a timely manner. Expected to read course materials before class and then review what you learned. Did I learn? Yes. Did I work hard for my grade? Yes. Would I take this professor again? Only if needed.
The class itself is tough. He rushes examples and asks questions one after another all the time, so be ready and alert for his class! Practice exams do not truly reflect actual tests and he is a really tough grader.
Very terrible. He barely return exams, and when he does feedback isn't clear. Avoid at all cost. Do not take him, I repeat, do not take him.
Not a bad professor. Really goes into depth in the course (which can get a little stressful sometimes) but you will be glad you took the class because you really do learn a lot. He is always looking to help you on something you don't understand.
Hardest professor I have ever taken. There is so much homework and he does not go over it well in class. I had to teach myself the material because he did not teach it in class. I would recommend not taking this professor.
You will receive a lot of homework and he will definitely make you earn your grade, however he makes sure you will have plenty of practice with the material you will see on exams. He will respond to emails in a timely manner, but he isn't really available outside of class so you may have to teach yourself at times. Textbook heavy class.
He is not available outside of class and the project is very tough to complete without help from a teacher due to this being an entry level class. I would recommend avoiding him if possible. Even on the off chance you do catch him outside of class he will not "give you the answer." By that I mean you will not get one, so listen in class or fail.
By far the worst professor I've had throughout my college career. syllabus is very confusing I couldn't tell when the project was due, on the syllabus it said on a Tuesday then it ended up being on a Monday. He does not accept late work! after a while I stopped going to his class AVOID HIM! Feels like a level 400 class when its an intro course
Do not take this class.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Period. Ever in my life. Wants you to fail. DO NOT TAKE!
This professor expects you to already know information without ever explaining things. Homework is super long and takes hours. Same with the exams. No extended time is given on exams.
Has huge project that he hardly explains, and assigns homework that takes hours on end, dont take this class.
