His test questions can be ambiguous and misleading. I've found errors in several questions and their answers, and his study guide was giving students the wrong info. If you don't have prior knowledge of the material taught in class you'll be fine, but if you've learned the material elsewhere you'll be confused.

The class was not well structured as excessive time was spent on some subjects while other more difficult subjects were passed over quickly. The tests are tricky and require perhaps more logic than biology. Genuinely wants students to learn, but lets his ego rule. He doesn't use the book, making you study from HIS OWN lectures, which often go on tangents that he seems to enjoy, but are quite irrelevant in a practical sense. This forces you to memorize things from his notes that you may never use again rather than understand bio. Tests= PICKY, not hard

Tony barely covered half the bio2 curriculum. He likes to spice up his boring lectures with unnecessary sexual jokes. Exams were clearly written the night before and have multiple mistakes and repeat answers. Questions are generally confusing and difficult to answer. Avoid taking his class if you actually need to learn biology for your major.

WORST TEACHER. NEVER responded to any of my emails when I reached out to him. His questions on the tests are so dumb, he has to remove some of them after you take it. We didn't learn a single thing compared to other classes. Everyone in the class will get a C or B easily, but it's IMPOSSIBLE to get an A. Knowing the material didn't help on exams.

So I've been reading a lot of comments about how his biology class was ridiculously hard or impossible to get an A. While I will agree that his tests were rather challenging, they are based directly from the notes. I just memorized the notes until I could fully recite them. The textbook was useless, so don't focus on it. Just memorize those notes!

Tony is the man! I absolutely loved this class. The lab (while difficult) is insanely helpful for understanding the material. Overall the exams were not that difficult if you took good notes. He does have a tendency to fall behind in lectures, so we didn't get to do all the systems in the syllabus. Overall, loved this class; would take again.

Excellent professor. Very old school in his approach, i.e. no powerpoint, just notes on overhead. Highly engaging lecturer and genuinely works hard to provide help to students outside of class (with free pizza). Exams are tough, but get through the first three and you'll have an easy final as a reward.

I have had Tony for Ecology and now Vert Morph and I can honestly say he is my favorite professor at Pitt. This class isn't easy, it requires a lot of memorization and sometimes I felt as though his exams didn't accurately represent all of the material but let's just say, his final was almost exactly the same as his practice final.

I had him for Ecology & Vert Morph, and he is the BEST prof at Pitt! He gives notes on an overhead & talks about the topics in more depth, so it is important to take notes on what he says for a better understanding of the material. He's easy to follow and makes lectures very interesting. I highly recommend taking Dr. Bledsoe every chance you get!!

I have taken Dr. Bledsoe for two classes now (evolution and vert morph) and he is a fantastic lecturer. Engaging, funny. And his exams are very fair, but certainly not easy. Only criticism I have is that he is notoriously bad at returning exams in a timely fashion. We had to wait a month for our 3rd exam to come back. Still great!

You have to go to class because he doesn't post anything on course web. But as long as you go, take notes and study the practice exams, you should do well. He repeats questions all the time and the exam format is always the same. He makes class interesting and relatively easy. Would take again!

You have to go to class for the notes and you need the textbook for the figures he doesn't cover in class. Probably the most boring class I've ever taken at Pitt but it wasn't super hard so if you're okay with being bored for 2 and a half hours a week, this is a decent higher level for the major. If you put in some effort, an A isn't out of reach.

Tony is the man. He lets students call him on his cell phone with questions about the material which is so helpful. He genuinely likes when students use him as a resource and enjoys helping us understand. He cracks a lot of jokes in class. He tells you what is going to be on each exam so they are easy to prepare for. Definitions are hard on exams.
