He is the only good ITP professor. He ALWAYS postpones the project due dates, he will also help you with answers on the midterms. He pretty much tells you what will be on all the tests. He also gives major extra credit points. Take him for sure.
I've taken 4 classes with him and they were the best classes I took in college. If you want to do well in his class just talk to him and make sure he knows who you are.

Make a good game and he'll love you. The class is basically game-making practice. You aren't going to learn anything substantial.
Great guy. Totally loves the subject matter and relays it. The class is basically recruitment for his mobile games division, so if you want to get a job.. impress the hell out of him. MAKE SURE he knows who you are, don't stay silent. Make an awesome first game project, and he will love you.
Class is fairly easy and he just gives grades. Overall, the info he teaches is dated and he really isnt that too technical. He says that he is but I am focusing on CS and he doesnt even have a technical degree. He comes to class unprepared and tries to get good reviews by giving away grades. For game novice, its good but not TOO impressive.
Class is heavily focused on industry topics. Great guest speakers and interesting lectures. As a CS major, not much in terms of programming, but great overview of the games industry.
I'm only a sophomore, but this was the best class i've taken at USC thus far. We went on field trips, including Blizzard. Best part of the class was creating two games from scratch. The software was basic, but this was only an intro class.
I'm a business major and thought the assignments were hard, but the class was real-world topics and informative.
Awesome class
This was a class on social games. Very industry focused. We wrote a book and made a game. Lots of work for 2 units, but worth it!
If you already like video games, then this class will be super easy. All you really have to do is do all the projects to get a good grade. Go to all the classes because they're pretty fun/interesting anyways. You don't really need any of the textbooks though, so save your money.
great class if you want to make a game for facebook.
Class is divided into technical and creative. there is only one semester- long project but good experience
My class had students from different majors, Cinema, Engineering, Business and others. As a CS major, there is not a lot of programming but many group projects and game building assignments. Contests during class were cool. Great guest speakers and field trip.
My favorite class at USC thus far
Took this class last semester. Very fun class. Make sure to come to class when you have to build a game in class...he gives out games as prizes.
Great class if you want experience building games with teams. I built 3 games and several prototypes. They started using Unity toward the end of class which hopefully will be used more.
Pretty easy and really fun class. No prior programming experience required but it helps when it comes time to do your projects (otherwise be prepared to grind through them). You get a lot of insider info from his years in industry and the guest speakers but for the most part, I felt like the projects and pitches were the best learning tools.
Great class. Hideo Kojima came to our class and he may be teaching in the future. Lots of good experience building prototype games.
Amazing professor. He's still currently working in the game industry so he definitely knows what he's talking about. Some readings to do for the midterm but not too bad. Never used any game making programs but the projects were still doable. We went to the Riot Games' headquarters and will soon head to Blizzard.
Game jams in class are awesome. Don't miss the Lego lecture, it's the only class that teaches scrum at usc.
Best games class at USC. We built 4 games and learned real world game production.
I really enjoyed the game jams and the interactive lecture format.
Great overview of the video game business. Lots of group projects and awesome experience building multiple games. Prof has solid knowledge of mobile and console games.
Tech Entrepreneurship was the best class I have taken at USC. Real world experiences building a tech startup and inspirational lectures from Anthony and his networks of high-level CEOs.
Prof Borquez is very knowledgeable in the game industry. He specializes in game production. We did game jams for both Riot Games and Blizzard. epic.
Great professor. Super knowledgeable guy, knows everything there is to know n the industry. Brings in superb guest speakers to share their entrepreneurial stories. Decent amount of work but still not very tough.
One of the best classes I have taken at USC. I learned stuff you typically don't get from books or boring professors. He teaches you about real world problems, how to work with teams, and ultimately how to level yourself up. Definitely a class worth taking.
Very relevant if you want to make games for a career. Midterm involved a lot of writing, but no final exam, just a project.
I took ITP-280 with Anthony Borquez. The lectures were very interactive While you were not required to participate, this made the lectures much more engaging. He frequently brought in guest lecturers from the gaming industry in lecture. Lab for this class is pretty useless - don't need to go. Great teacher with passion for gaming and teaching.
Interesting lectures. Real-World assignments. Fair grader.
Great professor. Learned a ton and made some great games.
Great lectures and excellent guest speakers.
So full disclosure, did not take this class for a grade, but still borquez is an amazing lecturer and incredible accomplished. He's not really around much cuz he's so busy, but he's genuinely motivational. Just cuz he's interesting I would suggest taking this class or maybe even auditing it. The work was a little tedious, but still recommend.
Professor Borquez is one of my favorite teachers at USC. Always energetic in class and has incredible stories to share given his extensive industry experience. Highly recommend this class to anyone interested in starting a tech company.
Professor Borquez was one of the best professors I've ever had. As an aspiring entrepreneur, I felt that all of his lectures and readings were completely relevant to what I should be learning. He also brought in amazing entrepreneurs of interesting companies as guest speakers every week to help teach us. Could not recommend this teacher more.
Prof Borquez is the one class I'll remember most from USC. Despite his success and credentials, the big takeaway from his class were the life lessons. His last lecture will make you rethink your purpose in life.
As a graduating senior, Borquez was hands down one of the best teachers at USC. He runs his own companies, but still teaches because he loves it. The class is a perfect balance between academic and real world experiences.
Hands down my best prof at SC
AB is one of the best at USC. Successful entrepreneur and passionate teacher. It was great to get the real world perspective in class. Make sure you don't miss the last lecture!
My roommate told me about this class and she was right, the class was cool and the professor was great (and hot!). Definitely worth the 2 units
The hype is real. He's an awesome professor, incredibly caring, and someone you'll want to be your mentor by the end of it. It's one of the most helpful classes I've taken in terms of familiarizing yourself with business in the digital entrepreneurship sector including SEO, growth hacking, etc. So glad I took this class!
Took 465 last spring and it was the best entrepreneur class I have taken at USC. All practical knowledge that i used when i worked at a startup over the summer. Amazing last lecture, a highlight of my entire 4 years.
I'm a COMM major, but my roommate told me to the class. I was hesitant at first because I'm not a business major, but I really enjoyed the class. The assignments were interesting, but I loved all the life lessons. Definitely a must take!
I took this class as a non-Marshall student, but the class was very relevant for me. The assignments had me build a prototype for a product and I'm actually running my own company full-time now. Probably the most useful class I took at SC and it wasn't even my major.
I am an exchange student from Europe here at USC for 1 year. Out of all the classes I have enrolled thus far, I would say Dr. Borquez class has been the most useful. Some classes are only speakers and no work, while other classes are lots of work and boring lectures. This is a good balance of real world projects with worthwhile lecture.
He got the Golden Apple Teaching Award in the middle of class. Borquez is lit
BAEP465 is one of the best experiences at USC. Props to AB for bringing it each week. Class was always interesting and the only class where everyone was engaged.
I'm fortunate I took this class before I graduated. I ended up using the majority of the assignments in his class for the startup i'm currently working at. Def the most useful class I took at USC.
Dr. Borquez is a very passionate professor. It was the one class I never missed and possibly the best class I took at USC. I took his class as part of my minor in entrepreneurship and what I learned most were his real world experiences as an entrepreneur. Highly recommend this class.
My best academic experience at USC was AB and BAEP 465. Every lecture had an insane amount of useful information and nobody is more knowledgeable and inspirational than AB. A must take class before you graduate.
I was so hyped to attend every class. Lectures were always engaging and interesting. Huge thank you to Prof Borquez who helped me get my first startup job after graduating.
Both my roommates took his class and could not stop talking about him. Im a not a business major, but I decided to take it anyway. I have to say, it was probably the best class I ever took at USC, and this is coming from a journalism major. He was so real and authentic, and clearly is teaching because he loves it. Hes super hot as well!
An inspiring professor that I could definitely talk to about anything. I learned a lot about the startup world even though I didn't have any background experience of knowledge in business
I'm glad I was able to take ABs class before I graduated. In all honestly, it was the most relevant and useful class for what I plan to do with my life. His network he brings to class is crazy and his personal experiences are unreal. I'm gonna crush my startup and get invited to speak to his class one day!
This class was recommended to me by a lot of friends. I finally took the class my senior year. Honestly, it was the best and most useful class I took at USC. AB is the man. Rare to find a polished academic, as well as an accomplished entrepreneur. He has so many stories and experiences; that is worth the price of admission alone. Def a must.
AB is a great professor as he brings in a lot of guest lecturers. He has sporadic quizzes, which sometimes have questions that were not in the readings. When it came to the grading for the group project, he was a little picky on some aspects but I think he gives great feedback for the students to rectify their mistakes. Overall, a nice professor.
This was my first business course I took at USC and wasn't sure what to expect. I'm currently an engineering major, but after this class i'm heavily contemplating switching majors. This class was about creating a tech startup and honestly it was the most valuable class i've taken at USC. AB is the best Professor I've had in college.
Id rate Professor AB as the best teacher in my 4 yrs at USC. Tech Entrepreneurship isnt a topic you learn from in a book. AB teaches from personal experiences and brings an insane network of accomplished tech entrepreneurs to the class. The guy has sold multiple companies and doesnt need to teach, but does it because he loves it.
Every student at USC should take this class. His life lessons at the end of the semester is the most profound and inspiring lecture I've had in college.
I was highly recommended to take this class, although I didn't know much about tech. It was the only class I would attend every week! The lectures and guest speakers were incredible. And AB's Hot AF!
If you are already a tech geek, you probably won't be satisfied with his class. He offers a scratch of every latest technology but not really going deep with any of them. It's great for students who are not familiar with the latest technologies.
I heard about this class from a bunch of people, and i'm glad i took it before i graduated. arguably the best class i took at marshall. marshall needs more profs that have real world experience. prof ab has started and sold companies and also has run his own vc. only class i never missed.
"Choose the teacher not the class" couldn't apply to more to him. Super cool and knowledgeable class. Guest speakers of people in big startups was great. Most people who take this do so for elective option in CSBA or other majors so if you're deciding between this or some other class for an elective you have to take, choose this one for sure.
I highly recommend this class and Professor Borquez. Honestly, I learned more in this class than I did my entire 5 years at USC. USC needs more classes that teach beyond the textbook. We had a lecture on biohacking and the mental aspects of being an entrepreneur, which I never experienced in any other class. The TA is also a Figma expert.
The class is rewarding in terms of the content discussed. Despite being only 2 units, there is an obscene amount of work (8 deliverables). Grading less focused on in class learning, but on technical talent. If you're doing BusA + concerned w/ GPA + time do not take this course. Only recommend if you have prior compsci/web design experience.
I heard a lot about this class from friends and was glad I took it. Great speakers and the semester-long project helped me get my internship. Prof is hot AF!!
I've been to some of the best schools growing up and as a senior at USC, I can proudly say that Prof. Borquez is by far the best professor I have ever taken during my educational journey. The line of people after class that want to talk to him explains it all. Highly recommend this class if you're interested in business.
BEST PROF I HAVE HAD AT USC. TAKE HIM! You will learn so much from him and he's very well respected and inspiring in the startup community.
Professor Borquez is an actual entrepreneur that has actually built companies and invested in several tech companies. His lectures are focused on his industry experiences which is different from other Marshall classes. Take this class if you want a real world perspective on business and life.
Take this class and be prepared for an incredible experience. Everyone at USC talks about this class so my bar was set high, but wow did he over deliver. Honestly, the tech material and projects were great, but the life lessons made this different from any class at USC.
There's no denying that Prof Borquez is very accomplished and super inspirational. HOWEVER, the class is very useless. The midterm and the final project were too much unnecessary work, and your entire grade is determined by group projects, which are always unreliable. The lectures go on for too long. Won't take again, it was a waste of time.
SO MUCH work for a 2-unit class. Inspirational but occasionally preachy. Lectures were fine with great guest speakers. Grading was brutal - group projects with unclear guidelines. Homework required you to make long documents, design prototypes and conduct research. Would recommend showing up to lectures without actually enrolling in the class
Learned more in this class than any other course at USC. As a comm major, I didn't have much background in entrepreneurship or any business courses, but we were able to create a tech startup in one semester. There are a lot of great guest speakers and hands-on learning AI & Crypto.
One of the best professors I've had, he literally gives you his number and is super accessible + understanding! Also, his guest speakers are super inspirational. Although, there is a lot of work. I would definitely take this class again!
Taking Professor Borquez's Technology Entrepreneurship class was truly a life-changing experience. His passion for innovation and empowering students radiates in every lecture. He brings real-world experience into the classroom in a way that makes you feel like you're not just learning theory—you're preparing to launch something of your own.
Took me 4 semester to finally get in the class, and it was worth the wait. The lectures and speakers were beyond any other Marshall class. He's also very accomplished and beyond dreamy. Highly recommend.
this was the best class i took at the business school. not your typical class with written tests and midterms, but you actual build something useful. never thought I would launch a business in college, but my team is starting a company now based on our class project. AB is the GOAT.
This class completely changed the way I view technology and startups. Somebody recommended this class to me so I gave it a chance, I built an app by the end of the semester completely unexpected. Also, this beautiful man spoke at our scholarship dinner and dropped some deep knowledge on finding your purpose and manifesting meaningful relationships.
Every class feels like a masterclass in entrepreneurship, mindset, and personal growth. he teaches how to think like an entrepreneur and how to take control of your future. If you have the chance to take a class with Professor Borquez, do it. He will challenge you, inspire you, and change the way you look at business and life.
I've been trying to get into this class since I was a freshman. I built an app in a few weeks. If you want to build stuff you should take this class. if you are CS, this is all vibe coding, but there's other lectures about longevity and biohacking that are really interesting. AB is a vibe
