Great teacher

hey, if you people read and make the text your bible you are sure to get an A. I got an A. I didn't think it was that bad. Show up to class and participate; you get 25 points for doing so. Don't sleep and ask questions during and after class.

Requires a lot of work, and has very annoying policies about every single little step in and out of the classroom.

as far as helpfulness within the class -he doesnt have it... but there is a reason for his hard class and policies - he wants us to succeed and if we go and sit through most other classes at st. john's we won't be learning anything....

he's not hard, but helpful - in all aspect. exam needs hardwork on both his notes and the text. have sittin plan and that means : not early leaving. don't take him if you want easy A. take him if you wanna have better understanding in psy.

Dr. Catalano is an extremely tough teacher. You read the textbook front to back and his notes are often not the material on the test. This class is a rooting out class for those who aren't true Psych majors. Don't be discouraged.

To everyone else who didn't like him b/c they expected to be spoon-fed the material: grow up. U have to read the entire textbook but you learn alot. If u don't procrastinate reading the chapters and taking notes on them then u'll do great. easy grader

He is very helpful and clear. He grades on a curve. He does not give any homework.

Scary at first, very anal.Teaches straight out of the text but gives good dramatic examples. Read the textbook and you'll be fine. Don't listen to the hype. It's one of the easiest classes you'll take, show up on time, fill out your answer sheet exactly and read the textbook. You'll get an A, I did.

Best Teacher I ever had at St. Johns. Very enthusiastic about his material. Definite comedian and makes material very interesting. Recommend him to both the lazy and the hard working. Attendance taken daily. Good notes is the key to that A+ in his class. Trust me you learn in this class!!!

Sure he's anal and his class is hard, but it's not that hard if you read the book and hold somewhat of a brain up in your skulls. Boo-frickety-hoo!! you actually have to do work in his class. Get real people, he knows more about psychology than most of the professors in this school. What idiots!

Great class, great professor. His tests come straight out of the textbook and his notes. If you go to class and do the reading you'll get an A, which is what I did. He had great examples and really helped people understand the material.

When you take him, you will learn how to read and also the value of rules and regulation. Many people don't have that.

I didn't think he was bad. He's a little anal, and the seating assignments are a little elementary school, but he's truely passionate about the subject material.

this man is very passionate about the subject material..yea he can be a bit anal about his seating arrangements and attendance, but he's a good professor. u'll actually learn in his class. if ur lookin for an easy A, this isn't the professor for u. if u wanna learn and get something out of all the money ur paying for ur education, then he's ur man.

make sure you sit where you want to on the 1st day bc your there for the rest of the year. Doesn't go over 1/4 of the material that he puts on the test. the test are 4 30pg chapters long.. grades on a curve(doesnt help).. takes off points if your late or absent... hes always in class early and starts the minute your supposed to. avoid at all costs

reading is essential for passing the class but common we're not in H.S. anymore so u can't complain. Anal about attendance and his lectures hardly cover the textbook topics. Overall ok proff.

Overall this class was not so bad. No Homework, No Papers, Just 4 tests. If you want to pass come to class and read the entire textbook. This class is not for everyone. If you have a photographic memory it is a breeze. This class was one of my least challenging this semester. Easy A, if you play your cards right

he is extremely anal. you will need to read..scratch that...MEMORIZE the textbook for his exams. there are only 4 exams multiple choice. Attendance is an absolute must! Its a lot of work but if you memorize the textbook you will do great

know the textbook material very well, nuff said. He gives no assignments, just 4 exams all multiple choice. He takes attendence, which is a small portion of ur grade tho. ppl complain abt him alot, but hes straightforward. tests are curved (an 80 test avg will still give u an A)

I had him in the Fall of 1990 and still recall much of what I learned. Pay attention to his lectures, as you will need his notes for the final (150 questions and cumulative, but not impossible). More importantly, READ the textbook and know the chapters cold. I found the class to be very interesting, and this comes from a math major. THANK YOU!!

Huge on attendance. Very organized. You HAVE to read if you want to do well. He was tough, but I wasn't a psych major before I took his Intro to Psych class and decided to change majors because of it. Need to complete lab testing (3 hrs). Really nice guy if you are respectful.

Yes,he doesnt go over all the material for the tests,but this class is easy if you do all the readings yourself and dont rely on him. An A=66 test average, that was his curve for my class.get real, try harder-dont blame him.its just not a class for everybody.Outline the textbook then study that,it works. 3 tests+final+attendence=grade. good lecture

Ok so Am guessing that some of you just want an A handed to you on a silver platter?????? he is a very nice man and he knows exactly what he is teaching. yeah you have to read,but in the long run its going to help you if you a psych major.. am sick of all these crazy/evil comments because they reflect the grades you got but not how he is.

Professor Catalano is the greatest. If you pay attention, he is actually funny. Just read the chapters and you will be fine. His tests are straight out of the text-nothing tricky or hard. Just read the chapters and go to class and you will get an A. He never gives homework.

Theories of Personality: you must read if you want to do well in this course. Curves all tests, e.j.: 66=A. You can pass the class with a 35 average. However, that means that the class is VERY DIFFICULT. It is not possible for him to teach everything in the book, but you still must know it.

Had him for 1000C and Theories of Pers. MUST read textbook religiously. Tests are very hard mult. choice but he curves drastically so it evens out. Lecture can be boring but he is very good at explaining the material. Uses power point and is OCD about attendance. Don't take for easy A, but good class if you like a challenge or expect to work.

This professor is quite interesting actually. His tests are very hard and if you want to pass read the textbook very well in fact understand it. Attendance is mandatory. He assigns you to a unique sit. The only reason u should take this class is if you should take this class is if u can read a voluminous textbook well and ur up 4 challenge

Dr. Cats is very bright and I got an A from him. He is super anal but if you listen close and follow directions, your fine. Tests were hard, 50Q MC and the final was 100Q. He gives a big curve and I suggest you read the text a lot. You will fail if you don't. It's interesting but his lectures don't really explain the theories. Ask him for help.

I am becoming a clinical psychologist, and Dr. Catalano was my introductory psychology and personality psychology professor, and I would not change anything for that if it would've changed where I am now! He holds a high standard, he expects self-motivation, and in hidden moments, you will see he cares deeply. If passionate about psych: yes!
