This is an easy A class if you know how to write and have a little strategic skills, and turn in HW on time. But it's hardly to learn something in the class. Have you ever seen any advanced business writing class take 15 min on free writing in each class?
Waste of time. Would make up assignments just so we had busy work. Has taught about an hour's worth over the course of the whole semester. Fairly easy A.

Class is not very difficult but he talks down to students and often embarrasses them in front of the entire class. His preference for female students is true.
Very rude to students, especially to guys. Trust me, he like only female students.It's understandable.An old man being left by his wife. Help him out, guys. It's been a long time for an old guy without a woman around. He really needs one. Otherwise, he can't stand it and gets crazy...
At first he seems really mean, but as the semester goes by you realize that he is harmless. I've heard he gives less h.w. then other Bus Comm classes. You turn in a memo a week, do (1) individual paper & (1) group paper. Easy class if you know to write.

I learned nothing from this instructor. I agree that he's very mean to students. The way he talks to students is horible. He yells at student when students have questions. I would not recommend this instructor. You guys should stay away from him. he talks to students as an uneducated man.
He is really crazy, he does not care for his students, he needs to go to school again to get more educations and get more experiences he is not a well educated professor. he is sex discrimination. Please do not take him if you are man.
This guy comes across as being mean at first. He's really not. This is not a hard class. Make sure you go to class, because there are many in-class assignments. Make sure you do the Strunk & White memos, because they are easy points. My only complaint with him was he didn't make those memos very clear at the start of the semester.
Don't take him!!! He doesn't know how to teach. A lot of my friends got D from him.
I agree with the rest that he's mean but only to those who don't take their studies seriously and to those who don't want to go out of their way to learn. He emphasizes the need to use college level words in hw's and in-class ex. I took him a while back and I still use what I've learned from his up to this day at work and my other classes.

Dude is just about gettting to business. If you do all your work then you will not have any problems. Whiney ****es that need their hand held will be hurting in his class.
You will get a bad grade and not learn anything. I have a high GPA and have never had problems with my professors until Daly. He's not helpful, not clear, and lacks what he tries to teach: communication skills. Stay away.

This is not an exxageration, I believe Daly came in class **** several times. Cup of coffee in hand, and mints readily available. He slurred at times and was belligerent even when not ****. He is knowledgeable but incredibly biased, and must be avoided at all costs. I would not be surprised if he is reported to the dean.
At first everything would be so confusing. But if you have positive attitudes, you will be ok. You also need to show efforts in his class. He is a very easy grader. Lots of homework and projects in this class. But if you dont do them, or argue with him, you may fail the class.
Avoid him or you will regret. That's all I can say.

He is the worst professor i've encountered yet. I'm not sure how he ever got the job. He really does favor the girls in the class, especially the young ones. Basically he's an arrogant professor who really has no business being there. If I could get him fired I would.

He is an awful teacher and a very hard grader. I received A’s on all papers and a majority of check pluses on the other writing assignments and still got a C in the class. Don’t expect to get a good grade, because you will not! Plus, he is mean!

Don't take this class. He is the WORST teacher ever. He is never ever clear on his assignments and the highest grade in the class is B. He doesn't give an A. Don't take this class. You will not learn anything and I will mess up your GPA.
He will expand your skills in commnunication. Provides samples for assignments and exams online. Ask questions for clarity. Speak when asked to speak. Hand in extra assignment early.

This guy has no business in a classroom. As stated in previous posts, he is very biased and belligerent. The average grade is a C, as shown in an Excel spreadsheet he displayed to the class. He blames that on "management". AVOID THIS MAN. HE'S AWFUL!

This teacher is great. He shows how to do things and if you follow his guidelines then you set. After leaving the class you know how to do things. Projects are very fun. Make sure to do the work, and you'll be set. GREAT TEACHER.

He was a great teacher. He seemed rude at first, but he is just very honest and funny. He explains the assignments over and over; gives different examples to make sure you understand them. If you follow instructions (he even gives samples) and do your work, his grading is very fair. He made a boring writing class very intersting.
You must attend his class to get a decent grade. His work is easy but often times students need clarity. He is pretty rude though. He was never rude to me but at times he would snap at some students who didn't deserve it. Other than that, he's pretty average. I would try to take someone else if I could do it over.
Has anger management issues...he got on my case so bad once that I actualy teared up. (asked him 2 post the example he was explaining online.)But he chills out eventually. High work load. He doesnt seem like a very nice guy, but thats my opinion, seems to have mood swings from class to class. He is a good professor though and you will learn alot if you pay attention and put in a lot of effort in all the assignments. Not impossible to get an A but it will take work. i would give easiness a 5/10 but teaching 10/10
Excellent teacher! I was a fairly good writer, though I must say that I am now a much better writer because of his class. Not an easy guy to deal with - very straight forward. Just do what he tells you and don't piss him off, and you'll be fine.
Received B+'s on mid-term, group project and final and high scores on homework yet still got a C. When emailed he blamed CSUF policy on grade avg i.e. "X amt of C's" Probably true but still doesn't seem fair. I earned a B. Knowledgeable though and definitely straight forward with opinions.
He is the hardest teacher ever...he's a jerk too. You have homework every week, but he only gives checks and check pluses and minuses as grades, not letters. I received check pluses on all assignments, a B+ on my midterm, and an A on my final project, and received a C!!!! He will not give any A's.
He'll be mean the first couple weeks of class, but he gets better. As long as you go to class, and learn how to write how HE wants you to write, you'll be fine.
This class is nearly impossible to get an A in. Worked really hard and only got a B+. Overall, this class has a lot of busy work, but its really easy. Teacher is really boring and very grumpy and unapproachable. However, I would take him again.

Mr. Daly, he's a great professor, you will learn a lot in his class. He is very practical, very direct to the point, and he will tell you whether you're a good student or not. He is clear with his teachings, and what you learned from him you will always take with you in a working environment. His teachings sticks. Take his class you won't regret it
Completely disagree with the last post. Arrogant, hard-headed, offensive. These are the three best words to describe this professor. Not exactly the qualities needed to encourage learning in the classroom. My advice is to RUN FAR AWAY and don't even consider taking this professor.
Do not take this class if you are a ESL student. He only gives check mark in homework, so you do not know about your grade. I get check mark plus on all my homework, and A in midterm,but I failed his class . If you have choice, do not take his class because more than 10 classmates failed in my class. Please get far away as you can.

This dude is cool. He talks about his hobbies and cigars all the time. The class is very easy as long as you are a capable writer. He requires two books but you only need the small book of rules. The big textbook is useless and I never even opened mine. Take this professor!
Professor Daly comes across as very rude! But honestly, EASY class! Freewrite when you get to class for first 10 mins, Every week a Memo is due which is just a summary of Grammar rules. Follow the sample midterm and group reports and you'll get A's! Don't ask stupid questions and listen to EVERYTHING he says! Grow balls and ask questions, it helps

My fav class in this semester! Daly has a tough exterior but he's a humorous person. LISTEN and TAKE NOTES. Ask questions but not stupid questions. Writing requires a lot of thinking (but FUN!). Put your heart into it then you?ll do fine. English is my 2nd language and I got an A. COME ON -> Tick++ is an A, tick+ is B, and tick is C on assignments.
If you go to class every day, turn in every memo and get Check++ on each one, also make sure you get a B on the group project, you should get a B in the class. It's all about the memos.
Seems mean, but he really isn't... just likes to scare students. To get an A in the class, you MUST attend every class, turn in every assignment, & get A on Midterm. I got an A in the class but put in the time. Cares about quantity more than quality- write, write, write! Fill the page with content! Very vague with instructions so be careful.
Two words for you... I SURVIVED! Business advanced 301 is basically hard class and you don't see many other good teacher in this course. So just take whoever fits on your schedule. I hate writing but I passed...That all it matters.
RUDE. But not a tough grader. If you can write decent "telling" headings, you'll be good. Memos are easy, you get A's on them after the first few. I hardly wrote more than a short para. for each freewrite- he doesn't care. Two big assignments: midterm & group research paper. Both a pain.
Not a tough grader. It seems he bases your grade on format and your prior knowledge of writing. You WILL NOT learn anything new in this class. It was pretty much a waste of time.
There is no question Professor Daly?s class is a challenge. The memos and homework are repetitious and require loads of revision. That said; BUAD 301 is quite the valuable class for any profession. After Professor Daly?s regimen, you will write letters and emails like they are second nature; more concisely, effectively, and quickly.

I am a straight A student. I got A's in 3 college writing courses.This professor will do nothing but ruin your GPA.He is extremely subjective when it comes to grading.he is very confusing when it comes to what he wants done in assignments.I got a C.I took another professor and got an A.His class doesn't relate to the real business world.

Daly is very unique. He is a difficult professor but very good at what he does. His class demands a lot of work and good writing skills. At first I thought he was a complete jerk but by the end of the semester he grew on me. He expects a lot from his students because he is a good writter. If you want to learn good writing skills then take him.
WORST Professor I've ever had in my life!!! Rude, demeaning, arrogant and extremely unhelpful. The material itself is not hard, the professor is what makes it unbearable. I can't believe CSUF hired him.
