Anthony was one of my favourite teachers that I have ever had, he not only taught in a way that helped everyone understand the concepts but with a hands on approach that anyone could follow, Anthony keep doing what your doing and you will be an awesome teacher for a long time.

All around awesome guy! He is friendly, helpful and very dedicated to his students. He would stay at school sometimes as late as 11pm to go over material with students, he had midterms/final marked the night of and he kept students motivated. If you have a chance to take this course and he is an instructor, you will not be disappointed.

Amazing prof, though sometimes seem hard to understand his instructions, but overall a very enjoyable semester. He makes things seem easy enough to understand and hands on workable. The TA sucked so much though, I never went to the labs because the lectures themselves were clear enough to do the assignments. Great prof!

Anthony's lectures include a lot of practical coding examples besides going through a bunch of slides which is really nice. They are pretty relevant to the mid term / final. He is also very helpful during office hours if you need some extra help. Or you can just fire him an email and it would be answered like right away. I rate this class a 10/10!

Course material only started to make sense once Anthony explained it. Incredibly helpful with clear explanations and obviously cares about your success. Would absolutely recommend taking anything with Anthony. He's also quite a beautiful man with a twinkle in his eyes. But mostly he is a great teacher!

Other than the obvious good looking aspect of him, he's helpful (he always helped me for as long as I needed it when I went to his office hours), knowledgeable, and interested in getting to know his students (he remembered the names of many in our class, even months after taking the course). The only downside I found was he spoke a bit fast.

Clearly explains everything on the blackboard through diagrams, which can be tedious, but is always helpful. Outside of the lecture, he is easily approachable and genuinely interested in his students, past or present. Programming was a completely foreign topic to me entering this course, Anthony gave me the strong base needed to succeed.

Really nice dude. Saw me crying because of my math midterm and offered me an extension on the CSC110 midterm. Really cares how his students do. Explains problems and concepts really well and thorough, always super open to questions or anything that will help students learn. Would definitely recommend.

Anthony was an incredible professor and offered so many office hours that you didn't know what to do with them (especially during finals season). I learned more in office hours than I ever would have learned in lectures and in my textbook. Would recommend taking any of his classes if given the chance (and going to all office hours).

Probably the best prof I have had. He transitioned to online classes amazingly and goes out of his way to be available to assist students at all times. He holds tons of office hours, even on weekends, to ensure that there is a time that works for all students. Also his prelecture videos are of professional quality. He cares about his students.

Course is relatively easy but lots of work, good content and interesting. Midterms were all reasonable and Anthony is an awesome professor. Definitely would recommend. Don't start the assignments too late.

Anthony is very good at explaining tricky concepts clearly and concisely. He made the transition online very well, giving prelecture videos that explained the concepts before class, then reviewing the material and giving us examples during the lecture. Anthony was by far my favorite teacher so far (I've only taken two semesters). I had him my first semester for CSC106 and second semester for CSC115. His pre-lecture videos are great... very clear and to-the-point. The quizzes before each lecture are an easy 100% if you actually watch the videos. Really hope I can have him again in the future!

Anthony is by far one of the best professors you can ever have. Anthony makes the content feel clear, concise, easy to understand and enjoyable. A very approachable teacher, will almost always make sure you understand a difficult topic during extra help sessions. Anthony was a really good professor for CSC225. He was effective and his teaching style is perfect (pre-lecture videos and then worksheets during lecture). I think the grading was appropriate, though no part marks. Overall, I think I would take another course with him as the instructor.

Anthony Etsey is a absolute gem of a prof and I would love to have him in any of my classes. His ability to teach actually makes me want to learn the content and his expectations are very reasonable. Doesn't give away free grades but he does grade fairly.

It was really helpful that he provided completed, clear notes for lectures. He clearly cares about his students and wants you to do well. I wish he was teaching more courses, particularly upper-level CSC courses.

Anthony was by far my most reachable and engaging professor this term. He also let me retake the final exam after I mixed up the time and didn't show up. I was shocked. Failed the class due my own issues, but absolutely fantastic prof. Teaches by giving a problem and then asking and teaching ways to solve it, instead of the opposite which most other teachers I have had have done. Do keep up with the material as it builds off of itself, but feel free to ask Anthony questions, he gives good answers.

Professor Estey is probably one of the best profs in the Computer Science Department at UVIC and he is one of the few people who want you to succeed and will help you as much as he can. CSC 115 is a big step up from CSC 110 however it is best taken with him as he slowly helps you understand much more complex programming concepts.

As someone who knows nothing about computer science I was terrified to take this class, but Anthony does a great job of explaining things in simple terms and constantly checking on his students level of understanding. There was a lot of work in the class, but it is straightforward and useful for application to course concepts.

The workload is not bad for a comp sci course, and the course is very beginner friendly! He has tons of office hours, esp. during project weeks. One of my favourite classes I had this term.

He offers tons of office hours and goes above and beyond to help with any problems you're having and answer all questions.

Professor Estey has to be the most caring instructor I have ever met. Though CSC 130 is quite an easy programming course, Estey made himself available way beyond what he needed to as a prof (extra office hours on weekends before projects/testing). He was always genuine and you can tell he really cares. Truly a blessing to UVIC!

I'm a psyc major and was dreading completing my CSC requirement. Somebody told me to take Anthony's class, and I'm so glad I did. It's so clear that he really cares about his students, and wants them to do well. He explains things clearly, gives good examples, and makes an effort to know his students who come to his office hours for help.

Anthony Estey is generally a really great professor. He's clear, concise, and cares about his students. He's also available for a lot of areas in the department, and quite a few early courses are structured by him. If you ever need anything, he's a great professor to go to. If there's a class with him as your instructor, you should take it!

I dont care if Anthony is teaching interpretative dance theory - Ill be in that class. Pretty much as close to a god a professor can become. You are setup so well for success it almost feels like youre cheating. It is unfair to Anthony how committed he is, especially when you compare him to other profs who phone it in.

Anthony is a legend. I was afraid of coding before taking his class but he was so great at making the lectures fun and interesting. He also adds extra office hrs closer to exams which are so helpful. If you are struggling with the course I recommend going to his office hrs as they are very helpful.

Loved Esteys classes. The prelecture quizzes did get annoying after a while but they did help with learning the material so I guess they did their job. Class was relatively easy in my opinion

(I took CSC 111 not CSC 110) Anthony was a brilliant professor. He understood the concepts he was teaching fully. If people asked questions, his answers were complete and accurate. The exams he created were fair because we were well prepared based on the assignments and labs. Note: the practice exams are much much harder than the actual exams :D

Anthony put together pre-lecture materials that were short and super easy to understand, so his lectures feel almost useless if you consistently watch the videos. During lectures he supplied paper worksheets, which were really good for practicing writing code on paper before exams.

Amazing professor who clearly explains the topics to build your fundamentals of coding. Assignments and labs are great practice for the tests, and if you understand the assignments and labs then you will have no trouble in this class. If you don't, he offers plenty of office hours to walk you through anything you have difficulty with.

Amazing professor. I did poorly on the midterms, so I went to his office hours often. He was always patient, explained clearly, and really cared about our progress, and I noticed that he often stayed late until everyone's questions were answered. I ended up with a great grade and would love to take another class with him.

Anthony is one of the best profs at UVic who cares so much about his students. He has super helpful videos and is very approachable if you have questions. His tests and assignments are well-written and help further your understanding of the course. My only advice: don't use AI; Anthony's help is much better.

Prof. Estey is extremely knowledgeable in his field and answers questions via teams quickly. His Csc111 course lectures can pretty much be skipped because you have to watch pre lecture videos and do a quiz before each lecture that's on the exact same content as the lecture. If you're familiar at all with programming this course will be just fine :)

Pre-lecture videos and quizzes are very thorough and make the lecture a review and reinforcement of what you already know. The questions on the two midterms and the final exam are identical in format to the practice exams. If you have any previous computer science knowledge in any language, this course will be very easy and mostly review.

Having Anthony was a pleasure! His online lecture videos were easy to digest with his clear and concise explanations and visuals to help you understand topics better. His in-person lectures were also helpful for practicing the material he already covered in the videos. As long as you do all the material given, this course will be a breeze!

Anthony is a super caring guy, and really seems to love teaching. When I took the course, the content was primarily learned in short videos that are modularized to exact concepts, and each video would have a brief quiz associated with it to ensure you understood the concept. Lectures were only for further examples. Tests were between easy and fair.

After attending Bill Bird's csc225, if you come back to this teacher's class, you will feel that the sky is blue
