Great professor! he really cares about his students, and people in general. he treats people like they're individuals & they matter. the class intro to soc is mainly common sense (for me but some others aren't doing well). he's very passionate about it and it shows during his lectures. he loves class participation! pay attention good grade
Out of all my years of education I have never seen such a passionate professor. Francoso is an amazing professor, he truly cares about his students. He also has lots of knowledge on race related issues. He stays on top of current events as well. Never had a boring class, he will make students participate but it's easy to do in his class!
I loved Professor Francoso! He's really passionate about informing people of current social issues. Participation makes the class, but Francoso has a strong understanding and respect for your opinion so don't be shy! What you get out of this class completely depends on how much effort and participation you put in.
Francoso is an amazing professor! You will never bored in his class. He's one of a very few professors that I've had that cares about your learning and that you do well. I definitely recommend taking any of his classes!
Cool dude, good professor. Hates cops, but still will respect you if you are one or planning to be one. Uses the whole class time and sometimes 2-3 minute overtime. I would recommend him.
Professor Francoso was the best! In his class participation does matter so prepare to be interactive. He does make his lectures fun as he throws his personality into them and doesn't just read off notes. The tests are supper easy if you know the material and he offers a lot of extra credit. There's no way you can fail this class
He's knowledgable and funny. He makes the class interesting. I learned a lot from his class, but he is very unorganized. He gave all the projects that needed to be submitted 1-2 weeks before the deadline.
Francoso was the coolest professor I ever had! You can tell he's very passionate about his work and isn't there for the money. Mostly lectures and very minimal assignments. Highly recommend.
Prefers people to talk in class. Offers study guides for tests so they should be easy. Everything you need is through his powerpoints. Also gives two really easy papers and one group project. Class can be boring but there are things he discusses that are actually pretty eye opening.
Honestly he is one of my favorite professors! If you get offended easily or don't like to talk, don't take the class. Everything he spoke about in class was super interesting and he posts his power points online as well! No homework, just some quizzes, 3/4 writing assignments , final essay, and creative project. He also gives extra credit !
He was alright. Very unorganized and everything is sort of rushed towards the end. Some of his remakes are sorta of weird and I felt very awkward. It was an okay class but wouldn't take again.
He is super awesome for one. He loves his job, he is very knowledgeable to the subject. i would rather listen to him speak and hear his stories than talk, because its interesting, I learned a lot in this course. He is very honest and straight forward about how he feels. Totally recommend him i am taking him right now for fall.
He is an amazing teacher and you can tell he loves his job. He makes an effort to create an environment in which people can express their thoughts and feelings on issues. I would recommend. Grade is dependent on 3-4 quizzes, few assignments, and the final (creative project and a 5-7pg paper). One of my favorite teachers, I would highly recommend.
Take this guy! He's passionate about what he teaches and you learn so much about yourself and others. The material is easy and relatable. It's a joy to go to class. I've taken two of his class and wish I could take another! Highly, highly recommend! He cusses a bit if that kind of thing bothers you, but you grow to tolerate it!
Great professor. very caring and understanding. he's chill. 3 online quizzes. one paper, final art project, and one research paper. Do these things and you'll get an A fosho
Francoso is the man! Overall, the class consists of 2 exams, a one-page paper, a midterm paper, a research paper, and an art show project for the final. His lectures are very stimulating and brings up past and current issues. Be sure to read the material before class so you know what you're talking about in class discussions.
Really nice teacher. Always standing as a student view and the best thing was he round up percentage if he saw that you are trying
He is such a great professor. Understanding students . He really wants his students to be successful. definitely recommend
Prof Francoso was by far the best teacher to have. He is very caring and makes sure that everything is made clear before moving on to a different subject. He makes the class enjoyable and makes you want to come back. Definitely one of my favorite classes since I've been at PCC.
Angle on the Earth
A must-take professor and eyeopening class. Dr. Francoso isn't the "teach for money" kind of professor and I'm glad that I've took his class in PCC. For course works, a 5 page research paper, color line project, 3 easy online quizzes and final presentation. Dr. Francoso would push you to jump out of your comfort zone and change the way you think.
This was the professor's first time doing COLL1 and I would say he did an okay job. Given, the work you do in COLL1 is ridiculously easy. Although there wasn't much of a chance to lecture in COLL1, I could tell that he has great ideas and is a good lecturer.
Tests were fairly easy like 3 i didnt like how we did most stuff towards the end but the work was not that difficult anyway, hes very chill gives extra credit but class was fun had great discussions and he makes class interesting. Show up do your work and you will pass.
I love this class, you would want to take him for College 1. You don't have any actual test for midterm or finals. You just have to write a small 1 page essay. He is easy and chill. He lets you turn in work super late and still get full credits. He sometimes even forget about the assignments HAHA. Take his class trust me!
This professor is truly amazing it has been a pleasure to tke his course. He extremely passionate about what he is teaching. He provides and open and safe forum for debates and expression. He draws from both personal experience and research and makes this class truly amazing. He truly cares about the topics being discussed and the students. P
Took him last year... I got an A for all of his easy tests... He promised me to change my grade from B to A since I had 89% in the class. Messaged him many times... Never replied back... So I'm giving him a 4 for that... However class is super easy so it's a 1 for level of difficulty.
Sick dude, relatable, fun class. Had 3 online quizzes which weren't hard, two 2-3 page papers, final 5 page paper, final is an art project, and gives a ton of extra credit. You put in moderate effort you can get an A no problem. Really understanding and one of the best profs at PCC. Stop looking and TAKE HIM.
TAKE HIM, one of the most amazing professors here at PCC, no homework, group projects, few quizzes. I learned so much from him about the world we live in, more than I've learned in all my years in school. If your debating about him or another professor PICK HIM. Easy A. You will leave this class with a completely different perspective in society
Francoso's ethnic studies class was EASILY the most difficult class I've ever taken at PCC. I took his 6 week program during the summer session and I was vigorously challenged by opposing views on contemporary social issues everyday. Although Francoso's class demands the most outstanding students you should definitely give his class an attempt.
Dr. Francoso is by far one of my favorite and most respected professors at PCC. His lectures are passionate and engaging. He is concerned with his students education and well being. His lectures are extremely eye opening. TAKE HIM.
Really funny and actually makes learning interesting
One of the most fulfilling classes I have taken. The lectures were very eye opening on many issues with society. Assignments are very easy, yet the group work assignment was beyond painful because of my class size. Would take him again!
Definitely not an easy A. Although you can actually learn things ,when it's time for tests, you will be super miserable as you got no idea of things to study with. few tests and quizzes, a few writings.
He's the besssssssttt professor at PCC! I'm a bio major but I've taken him first for College 1 and then for SOC1 because I love his lectures! I would even change my major to sociology to take more of his classes lol. I'd never had such a great professor in my life. Just take him and you'll see!!
Absolutely loved this professor. He's so passionate about what he does. He understands that everyone thinks differently and respects everybody's opinion. As charming as he is, his class is rather difficult. However, he will make sure you understand the subject and will make sure you are prepared for the exams. Your outlook on the world will change.
I would take Dr. Francisco's class again in a heartbeat. His lectures are awesome and very eye opening. He truly cares about the student's success. There's group projects a few quizzes and tests. Hardly any homework. Take him.
I absolutely enjoyed Professor Francoso's class. He is a fabulous teacher and awesome human being. His lectures were very inspirational. I hope he would consider running for political office one day. We need someone who's passionate that will change the world.
Francoso is amazing and PCC is lucky to have him. He is incredibly knowlegable about civil rights, race relations, and their histories in the LA area. He has lived his subject matter and it shows. He cares very much for every student and makes a real effort to get to know everyone. He goes above and beyond. The class has a lot of group work.
Awesome professor! Homework is very minimal, 1-2 group projects (last one depends on whether or not you want to make one or present by yourself), and very entertaining. Gives study guides which are extremely helpful for quizzes. Great attitude, real cool dude, and funny. Definitely recommend!
His class is easy, although the honors class had a lot of readings. Most of the time, you do presentations, but I strongly prefer that he lectures instead. As long as you pay attention during these presentations and read, you'll get an A. If you participate, the class becomes 10x more interesting and changes your perspective on the world. Take him
The class is mainly him talking with the class, honestly there is no need to attend class since most concepts are in powerpoints and the textbook. Quizzes aren't too bad and neither are tests which have decent study guides. Good amount of extra credit opportunities. Uses up every second of his lecture time.
One of the most inspiration professors I've had. I left every class really thinking and pondering on what we had discussed on my way home. He's great and offers lots of extra credit opportunities.
easy A. if you just want an A, take it. If you want to learn a lot and challenge yourself, you may want to consider other options.
Professor Francoso is and probably will be one of the easiest classes to take. Quizzes are online, provides all the reading material (except for 2), gives extra credit, you can argue for test points, very lenient on grading, and gives funny life stories. Down side is that he gives out all his assignments near the end of the semester. TAKE HIS CLASS
Professor Francoso cares deeply about his field of study, and it shows. His lectures are so engaging that students often arent ready for class to end, and its not uncommon to see students leaving his classes in packs 5 minutes after the scheduled ending time, still engaged in discussion. PCC is beyond lucky to have him.
This class should be mandatory for all students, regardless of major. Francosos lectures are REAL, and youll leave the class knowing more about race, class, community, and yourself. I dont recommend taking Francoso if youre not ready to have your beliefs challenged or if you are conservative. Racism, sexism, ableism, etc. not welcome here.
Francoso is THE BEST professor at PCC. He genuinely cares for his students and it really shows. He's absolutely hilarious and passionate about Sociology. His lectures are really relatable and not boring whatsoever. 10 online quizzes (5 questions straight out of the lectures), 2 tests, 3 essays. Lots of extra credit opportunities!
He is a very opinionated man with some extreme viewpoints on the world. If you can handle such a class you should take because he is not that bad of a professor just very extreme. Oral history report on a family member and quizzes.
He does care for his students and their success. EXTREMELY passionate about his study. Quizzes were in-class but changed to online and only 2 tests. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Lectures on topics that you may relate to today which can get dull at times.
I wouldn't take his class if you are majoring in sociology, since he mostly teaches his personal opinions along with some sociology. Very unprofessional. Goes on long, emotional rants. Uses a lot of logical fallacies and refers to police as 'pigs'. Again, if you want to learn about sociology from an objective standpoint, take someone else.
Very opinionated man, but very passionate and knowledgeable about sociology. Be ready to challenge him, and boy it will be a rough challenge if you try. His class is great for stories, and he's been nice by giving EC opportunities, and by giving online quizzes. That said though, he did pull the extra credit last minute, so don't get complacent.
He is so funny, kind, and really cares about us college students.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a professors as knowledgeable, caring, relevant, and dedicated as Francoso. He has a genuine attitude towards his students and goes the extra mile to make sure everybody has a voice while making his courses easily digestible. I've learned much in his classes, and it's made me a better student. Definitely recommend.
Prof Francoso is funny and caring. However, he gives too much personal opinions and has extreme viewpoints. Overall, it is an easy class.
Great professor and great guy. Very understanding. Participation is important - do the work and you'll pass.
Francoso is the best professor ever! He talk about real world problems and opens up your eyes and makes you realize what's really going on in the world. He is straight forward, pretty blunt but that's what I like about him. He is funny and caring and he's just a great person in general. 10/10 recommend taking any of his classes!
WOW where do I start Prof. Francoso is not everyones cup of tea he is very opinionated but so is everyone else he's just verbal about it and will give it to you straight. Online quizzes, 2 test, group presentation, art presentation, 2 small written assignments, plenty of EC. He is not easy, he will make you work for your A but super manageable!
Get ready to have deep and interesting lectures. It is true that he can come off very opinionated and strong in what he says, but he will make you not just understand but also feel the injustice we life in. I belief he is a must-have professor if you are majoring in SOC or if you grew up in the US. online quizzes, two exams, two books and ton of EC
He isn't the worst professor I've had, but I feel like I learned very little about sociology. While he says a lot of things that are true, he focuses a lot on his opinions, he really dislikes police and military. His online quizzes were mostly easy, but there were a few with questions that were not from the textbook or clearly stated in lecture.
Prof Francoso is extremely passionate about what he teaches. His lectures are often heavy with historical events. I would take his classes multiple times if I could.
He gives lots of extra credits which boosts my grade to A, nice professor
The Professors very knowledgeable in Sociology. His lectures are quite an eye opener and he is passionate about this subject. His class consist of about 9 online quizzes, 2 test, and lots of EC . His quizzes are from the textbook and power points. Fairly okay class as long as you do well in his quizzes and test.
Francoso is one of the most down-to-earth professors at PCC. He is very respectful of everyone and provides a safe environment to discuss topics involved with crime and deviance. He encourages students to speak up. The assignments are short, interesting and fun. He is a reasonable grader. He doesn't cuss at people but he does cuss. I recommend.
If anything, Professor Francoso made me want to pursue a degree in sociology even more. His lectures were terrific, and he encouraged everyone to share their opinions. For our final, the whole class and Francoso ended up crying; it was one of the best finals I've had.
Prof is very knowledgeable but I feel like I left the class without any substantial knowledge. His lectures are somewhat focused on his own opinions & can come off a bit preachy but its nothing you can't sit through. Simple class graded on online quizzes, 2 tests, 2 small writings, & plenty of EC. Study the textbook & powerpoints & you'll be fine.
Awesome and understating professor!!! He will help you with what ever you need help with I highly recommend taking him!!
Professor Francoso is one of the best professors I've ever had in my three years of community college. He is very understanding and inspirational, especially since our transition to online classes during the covid-19 pandemic. He is very empathetic and caring. I highly suggest taking Professor Francoso.
I took this class when COVID hit & classes were forced online. This class is only graded by a few quizzes and two papers, because of that the 3 point quizzes, based on the book, make a big impact on your grade. He gives two chances on quizzes which makes the class easier and also lectures aren't required. He is not the best at emailing back sadly.
One of the best professors at PCC that I was lucky enough to encounter. Sociology professors like himself make me want to pursue Sociology as a major even more.
He's very honest, opinionated, and passionate about his subject. He cusses a lot and at first I was put off, but he's very personable and caring. Weeks would go by without any assignments due, so just follow the syllabus & ur good. 2 Tests (midterm & final) he gave 2nd chances on and lets you work together to take. One final paper, one final essay.
Taken his both SOC14, 15 class. He's really understanding, allows you to submit work late without penalty if you explain reason through the mail, he's easily accessible. 3 quizzes, allow second attempt, 3 projects(include final art), final paper. His grading really fair and reasonable. I highly recommend him for sociology major students.
Tough grader. Loves detailed responses. Sheds ALOT of light on incarc. What we talk about online takes a long time to the point where only a few modules get disregarded. World economics was 1. Plz reply to emails soon. Plan all your quiz 2 attempts b4 1st day. Time manage your weekly meetings plz.
So opinionated its not even funny. This guy teaches you his political / moral views more than actual sociology, some of the topics he'd bring up honestly felt borderline delusional.
great & realest prof. ever, talks about the truth of our nation, curriculum we watch is tough. you can look over ppts for quizzes, he reopens them for better grade. late work is accepted. there aren't many assignments so they weight heavy on grade, must understand concepts in order to do well, not needed to read evrythng. a zine, 2 essays, art proj
Lectures and PowerPoints made learning easy, but I didn't always agree with some of the off-topic convos. He's a cool guy and the class was good overall. Weekly lectures, readings, quizzes, and discussions. Midterm and Final exam, Final essay, and Art Final. Gives a chance for extra credit.
A truly remarkable and engaging professor, he transformed the classroom into a safe and welcoming space. His genuine passion for teaching was evident and made every lecture fascinating and far from boring. For the first time, I genuinely looked forward to attending class and learning. Accepts late work and always re-opens assignments.
Wonderful professor who cares a lot about his students. He gave a few research papers/essays, and had a final art project that you present. Very easy to pass and is a very kind professor
I took the online class sociology 001, I have emailed the professor multiple times about my grades and questions about the course. However, he did not reply to any of my emails, so I decided to go to his office hour, but he was having his own personal online meeting while having office hour, thus we couldn't even meet up with him.
I took this course in the fall, it was overall a very interesting and engaging class. You are graded on very few things. I only had seven assignments the whole entire 16 weeks. The professor gives great lectures and is hilarious and very well respected. I definitely recommend taking this professor.
Kind professor who gives very few assignments and those assignments are very simple. Only about 7 assignments and a final art project you give at the end. In my opinion, he's very liberal. He cusses a lot in class and uses terms I personally wouldn't use when referring to the police. He loves participation, and genuinely overall a nice person.
Must take! Prof is empathic, wise, + creates a safe space. Course was my favorite; Broke down basics of crime, systems,PIC,+ isms that affect our everyday lives. We read lots of articles, 1 book, and many notes- heavy class discussion. Visibly saw myself come out of my comfort zone.Would've been cool if my classmates were more engaged, overall EZ A!
I enjoyed his fully online course so much! He is very engaging and gives great feedback on all assignments. This class was online so there is weekly discussion posts due but they were honestly fun to do. Lectures were helpful for exams and grading was super fair. Bonus if you like music as the course is structured around it. Final is an Art project
He's a great teacher and dad I love his 2 kids they are so nice would take again be ready for so good lectures.
If you are taking this class because you genuinely need to learn from it for your future, do not take this professor. He makes fun of the Bible, he talked about only his own opinions and disregarded others opinions. Made fun of traditional family styles, giggled about Adam and Eves story, completely disrespected my culture.
Great professor who is passionate about sociology. Curses a lot, and is "political" (very left leaning) which I agree with so it wasn't a problem. He cares about his students and is funny. If you ask, quizzes can be reopened. a bunch of online quizzes, 2 online tests, 3 discussions, 1 paper, 1 project make up your grade. 10/10 reccomend.
He was pretty easy, most students did not end up coming to class and he would not take attendance, I would say its one of the easiest classes to take, you would need to put an effort to fail it.. he has an obvious bias towards certain topics but apart from that, he is very lenient and understanding.
I just ended this class on dec 8 2025 francoso one of the best professor in my opinion at pcc he basically gives us time on assignments and there is few assignments 2 test and 1 extra credit Art project and 1 and just read couple of books through semester Final paper and he is hilarious and very inspiring and caring 10/10 professor
One of best professor here at pcc trust me he is knowledgeable and hilarious so the class has few assignments on canvas 2 tests that are online with 2nd attempts Art project 1 Final Paper 1 extra credit I wish that I can take him again 10/10 professor I really recommend in person course he teaches it every fall and spring semester
He's truly just amazing, he's very compassionate about students, he's very caring about his students. He wants you to succeed, to be whoever you want to be. If you want an amazing, eye-opening sociology class, take him. He is incredible and I can't stress this enough.
professor francoso was really chill and funny. his lectures were interesting as well and i'm glad i took his class. he really does care for his students and wants the best for them. there weren't that many assignments or quizzes so it should be pretty easy to pass by and receive a good grade.
He was very easy going and his assignments were very straight forward. You could probably get by without attending the lectures though. Everything is posted to canvas and all the assignments (except the final art presentation) are online. He does curse a lot so take that into account.
