Prof Freeman can be hard if you don't pay attention, but as long as you try, you'll be fine. He's nice and will help you if you ask. He gives us all the readings so I didn't have to buy a textbook.

Do not get scared off by the precious comments because this class was a dream. Professor Freeman is one of a kind! He is deeply passionate, his classroom became a safe space and we all didnt know each other but we talked about EVERYTHING. We learned, we chatted, we laughed, we cried, all in the name of gender.

I took this course during the pandemic, he was one of the most accommodating & understanding professors that I've taken at John Jay. He was responsive to every email, and gave me an extension when I reached out with COVID related hardships. The work load was MINIMAL. He has a young modern sense of humor and assignments were creatively fun.

Professor Freeman was great! the course overall opens up to a lot of liberating conversations, but it was a great "class" (although virtual) experience. He is very respectful that encourages interesting topics. In my opinion, it was not much work either.

I have taken Professor Freeman my freshman yr of college. The best and most easiest Professor out there at John Jay. Tons of great discussion with classmates and about the class materials!

The class is very entertaining yet relatable to real world issues. The professor is very accommodating and fair. Little to no quizzes and homework. Finals aren't cumulative. Best of all, there is no textbook. Yayyyy.

this was my favorite class this semester, the professor is funny and uplifting. i loved the class and looked forward to attending. the assignments were simple and straightforward. overall, this class was amazing and i would 100% take another class by this professor

The class starts a little later than expected but the professor is super helpful and understanding when it comes to your personal life and making up assignments. The work is easy to manage as long as you start it early and finish it on time. Lectures are funny and makes him feel more like a friend than professor. I'd recommend this class!

Professor Anthony Freeman is an amazing professor and is very caring. He cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed.

He is super funny but he will tell you what you need to hear and set you straight. As long as you get the reading responses and reflections on time you will we fine. the co-teach, timeline and essay is a large portion of your grade but he helps you out.

Professor Freeman is a caring, patient and understanding person. His class is the only one I can confidently say that the grade you get is what you deserve. For a 300 level class, he was not too strict on whether or not you created innovative work, just that you understood and wanted to converse.

Make sure you get your assignments done, ask questions and if you need help use the library and make sure your grammar, punctuation is good. Also make sure you are on time. He makes class interesting. Be prepared to present to the class.

Great class! For the most part, the materials and knowledge he provided for the class were insightful and engaging to participate in. The assignments we had to submit were not challenging, or lengthy and were straight to the point. I truly enjoyed his raw and open authentic personality, he always kept it real with everyone and I appreciated that.

Professor Freeman's GEN 101 class was very lax, straightforward, and easy. There are a lot of reading assignments but, again, they are easy. Professor Freeman has a great sense of humor, is very relatable, and is fair and flexible when it comes to due dates. I will say that if you have issues following directions, then this class isn't for you.

Even though the lectures are pretty long, he cracks jokes once in a while and makes the class not so boring. I like how he also brings in guest speakers which really helps me understand the topic better. He seems to know a lot about what he's teaching and the class wasn't hard to pass. This professor also helped me a lot with public speaking.

Freeman is an excellent Professor; I would recommend him to any student interested in the subject, his classes are exciting, and I like the way he teaches. If I had the opportunity to retake it, I would. He is very prepared, and he treats students with respect; it was a pleasure meeting this professor.

Professor Freeman was a great professor and very accessible outside of class. There was a weekly discussion board, reading responses, 2 PPT projects, an interview paper, and a final paper. He's clear on his grading policy and will work with you if you need to. Do the work and keep an open line of communication and you'll get an A.

I had some friends tell me to take another class b/c many gender professors are normally mean. I have 0 regrets taking this man he debunks all of that negativity and he makes learning interesting and his personality is hilarious. l would take any of his classes again his work is clear and he knows how to use technology i am beyond impressed.

He is a good professor that has an easy class. Just remember to do your discussion boards and reflections; you will pass easy this way. Sadly there is no extensions past the due date but he offers extra credit.

Prof understands if students have difficulties so feel free to talk to Prof about matters that may delay you from completing work. Prof is strict on plagiarism so don't try or you'll probably get caught. Weekly DB, a final, & presentations are assigned and some allow group work. If you need credit, take this class! Professor Freeman is a great professor. I would definitely take him as a Professor again. Classes were interesting and our 3 major assignments were creative. There is only one paper required to write for this class and it's not complicated, especially if gender studies is an interest to you. I had a great semester with Professor Freeman!

I had never taken a gender studies class before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, Professor Freeman made it incredibly easy to learn. He is always willing to help and is responsive to any questions you have. If you need help, he genuinely tries his best to support you in understanding the material.

As long you as you follow what is required in the syllabus and keep up with any weekly assignments you will be fine. He makes a point to constantly remind us of impending assignments. This is a nice and fun professor. He tries his best to keep class fun and interesting, communicate with the students properly. He clearly states what he expects from us, you should be able to get a good grade if you do everything that needs to be done. However, don't take his kindness for granted, he will give you a bad grade if he has to.

Took him for my GEN 101.98 class this Fall 2024 semester. Great teacher and the assignments are outlined in a spreadsheet with deadlines. Not a tough grader just do the required work and you'll pass. The assignments are not hard and he makes the class fun. The readings are not hard and are interesting to read.

Presented lots of interesting content, good articles to read. The lectures were funny and enjoyable.

The class was during fall. It is very straight forward and laid out for each assignment. If you need any help please communicate with him, he is VERY helpful. The class has kind of a lot of work but if you plan accordingly it you won't fail. I would definitely take his class again.

Professor Freeman is one of my favorite professors ever! He is very easy to reach outside of class. He actually listens to the students and he's also really funny. He gives us 2 weeks to complete major assignments. All assignments are explained throughly and he is always open to discuss a grade you were given.

I took Professor Freeman for GEN101, he made every class go by so fast & all his lectures were very interesting, he always wanted us to be involved! I really enjoyed taking class with Professor Freeman! He is genuinely very funny and cares about students. He has Gen101 do one group project that is Shark Tank themed, but it's very fun, so don't stress out. He has a lot of guest lecturers, some are interesting and some not so much. All in all, I would definitely take another class with him again!

Prof. Freeman is a very interesting professor! If you do the reading and Discussion Boards, I promise, you will get a lot out of the class. He not only teaches ideas and theories of gender and sexuality, but he emphasis how each one of us is impacted by this topic. He is funny and understanding, but also wants you to do your best.

He made the class feel comfortable, engaging, and supportive. One of the best professors I've had. Workload does feel a little on the heavier side especially for 101 class but worth it! His grading level is easy but his instructions for the assignments are too much. Even though he is easy I found his instruction too much and some of his assignments weren't called for.
