Easy to get along with, can talk for hours but is easy to understand. Always ask him for his outline. Fun to get off subject. Always willing to discuss current affairs. Very helpful. His first test is hard only because he is trying to get a feeling for the class. As long as you participate and do the very few assignments you'll do good. Great class
Great professor, very helpful and lots of fun.
Great teacher, so much fun to listen too. Tends to fall off topic at times, but even when that happens, it's still a fascinating lecture. Made it very easy to understand the class. I barely had to read the book because the lecture was quite thorough and easy to follow.
he is a great proffessor. taking his class for the first time taught me alotv about the usa government and all that i knew not having come from Britain. hes class is fun and he is always willing to provide assistance to his students.if you want to pass the class ,attend his lectures coz thre's alot to learn from it. GREAT PROFFESSOR.
Very good teacher. Lectures are clear and tend to follow his outline structure. Easy to talk to and always answers emails. Although I am a political science major, I think everyone would enjoy this class. Not a hard class if you attend the lectures and do the reading.
Great professor! Tells the best stories in class which helps balance sometimes what can be a dry topic. He really knows how to lecture and keep things interesting. Asset to the school.
Seriously, he is so boring. I could never sit through an entire class. His lectures are monotone. But, he is an easy grader and also grades on a curve 2 out of 3 tests. 2 papers are also due that are pretty boring. Overall boring class, but easy.
AWESOME!!! grades on curve, gives test questions and essay?'s really nice. talks to fast but pretty much an easy class. the papers are not hard at all. i did mine morning of and i got 90/100, gives tons of extra credit TAKE HIM
He's a really great teacher - tells you exactly what to know for tests, goes off-topic with funny stories, and made US govt really interesting. Also, he curves every test and has a lot of extra credit opportunities.
great teacher. you will pass his class and learn interesting facts if you basically show up and take down what he writes on the board. Highly recommended! especially if you are interested in history and politics
He makes the content very interesting, he has good stories, and is very straightforward. His tests are kind of hard, but he provides a study guide and what you need to study for. If you pay attention you will be just fine. He also offers a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
Awesome Teacher! Was always very entertained in his class
he explains very well and he is extremley helpfull. His tests are fair and he gives you alot of extra credit.Anybody can pass his class.Great teacher
one of my fav professors & classes at pierce. if you like the subject, he'll teach it right. he relates the examples to modern day. he likes to make you think. you have to study and you're better off showing up and taking notes. dont ask stupid questions. got an A!
Simply the best. Come to clas, take notes - his exams are very straightforward.Great!!
AMAZING TEACHER! his class made me consider becoming a poli sci major...he will do his best to help you & is very clear about what he wants...come to class, do the work, take notes EASY A : ) his tests aren't tricky, he tells you everything you need to know & he also gives lots of extra credit
I took the online course and although he was quick getting back to you with comments and responses, he was lackluster with the class. I would not recommend because I did not learn much. He also makes a lot of spelling mistakes that sometimes confuse you on quizzes and tests. Lots of extra credit though if you like that.
he is nice & fair grading teacher. he provides you good lecture & make us fun. he give you alot of extra credits. he also give you his original notes and Power Points before 2nd test and final. however, test are really hard if you don't study. you should show up and take notes. im int'l student and i think i'll pass with C or barely B
Great professor, must communicate with him to resolve any issues related to class; provides study guides and extra credit,2 tests, 1 final, and 1 research paper ; would recommended it to all my friends :)....once again AWESOME PROFESSOR :)..
Very knowledgeable professor, can be goofy which keeps the class interesting. Take advantage of the bonus points he offers, as well as the powerpoints and notes he posts on moodle before the tests. Tests are hard if you don't study, so review those notes. He's really fair and reasonable, so if you don't do well in the class it's your fault.
I can't say enough good things about this professor. I learned so much in this class. He found a way to make a boring subject fun! If you have to take Poli Sci, take this professor. You'll thank me after.
If you do not know who John Hanson is then this is probably not the class for you, though the professor does give massive extra credit oppurtunity.
Really great teacher, loves what he does. I knew nothing about Poli. Sci., and I suck at Goverment but he made it so I could learn. If you show that you have an interest he'll care and he wants you to do well. No trick questions on test, the discussions were the best part. If you are strictly a book learner then it's not for you.
Terrible teacher! He said that he loves his job and he's good on what he does, but I don't see it like that. He talks super fast and doesn't repeat anything. Somedays he gives a good lecture other days he is lazy. Give massive extra credit, each one worth ONE POINT. Yes! First test was very difficult. Take someone else. I wish I could drop out.
He really is a good professor. I had no intrest in poli sci before this class and he made it fun. His extra credi is everything. He is clear on the material if you ask him the right questions. He is willing to help.Yes, he does go on rants, but they break up the monotony I say take him!
I'm from Brazil and I this is a hard class to me. Dr. Gabrielli helps a lot. If you have any questio, just send him an email. 1o test is hard. 2o test is easier but have to memorize concepts. He talks fast but uploaded powerpoint which helped a lot. I recommend him.
What can I say, great teacher. He's really passionate about what he does and tells you why he's into politics. You can manage an a as long as you are organized. No hw, 3 test, 2 papers, and one debate. Highly recommended him, especially if you're a poli sci major.
His class is boring. You will need a lot of motivation to finish this course. Some people like him. Tests are hard and you need to memorize it. He gives extra points.
Best Professor I ever had at Pierce College. His lectures are very informative and all his tests are based on them. Even a 3 hrs class seemed short to me cuz he talks about a wide range of interesting subjects that are very useful to know. He could be very funny sometimes. Highly RECOMMENDED.
Garbielli is a great teacher, he knows what he's talking about and does his best help you succeed in his class. I believe his class is easy because he a good teacher. In Poli Sci 5, the class is all essays, so you have to have to know how to write. Highly recommended for Political Science Majors, if your not a Poli Sci major he may not be you guy.
he is the best. The metrical are boring but he makes them interesting u never get board in his class .pay attention and don't miss the class u will have a A
He's a great teacher makes learning the material easy and fun. Nice guy will work with you if you need help. Knows what hes talking about. Take him you will pass of course with the effort.
This man is AMAZING! Oh my god, being in his class made me make my minor Poli Sci; relates every topic to situations in life; funny and soo down to earth! take him; NO HOMEWORK and LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT! havent even used the book and already end if semester! I wish I had him for all my classes..witty, sarcastic and will be straight up
Passionate, knowledgeable, and fair. He is an interesting and well-informed on current events. He makes class interesting and fun. I highly recommend him.
got an A in this class, but man this is 1 rude teacher. quick to snap attitudes - very rude. not the most helpful neither. take it if you need the class, but i would avoid this 1.
Wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be! Pretty informative. Didn't hate him, but didn't love him either.
i did not know a thing about poli sci before this class, i have nothing but great things to say about this teacher, he is helpful, fair, intelligent, and informative. i got a b studied all his notes never bought the book. i love this teacher! so glad i took him!!! thanks mr. g !!!!!!!!! :] TAKE HIM!!!!!! TRUUUUST !
Great teacher! He made the class interesting and he also gives you lot's of extra credit work.
Prof. Gabrielli is by far my favorite teacher at pierce. He truly cares for his students and wants everyone to succeed in the class. He offers many extra credit assignments that will help you. The outlines he offers on moodle also helps alot when studying for the tests. TAKE HIM!
I received a B in his class and hardly EVER read a pg from the text book. BUT, I got a B because I went to class everyday and CARED to learn. AMAZING Prof. Funny, SMART, understanding, RESPECTABLE,CARING. Take HIS class. DO YOUR EASY ASSIGNMENTS. STUDY FOR TESTS. PARTICIPATE. ALL THAT= PASSING GRADE
Well-structured course. Professor is very clear in articulating concepts. Textbook is helpful, but use is minimal. Attendance is important. Read study guides, outlines, and PowerPoints made available on Moodle. Professor can be humorous; lectures are particularly insightful when he becomes passionate about a topic. Ask him something controversial.
A difficult class to teach at a lower-division undergraduate level. Professor nonetheless is able to cover the most important concepts in a comprehensive & systematic manner. Lectures could use improvement (less tangents). Semester-long research paper is a behemoth of a project. BEGIN EARLY! Mid-Term & Final Exam were very well-formulated & clear.
One of the best teachers, ever. If you can get his class, TAKE IT. Very funny and very cool teacher. Loves political science and loves it when you love it. This was my favorite class to take, loved this subject. You have to do the reaction papers; read the chapters and are ready to discuss; its a discussion class. Start early on the mid-term paper.
Best professor, passionate about what he does. Go to his office hours; get to know him. A's and B's aren't hard to achieve with good attendance and turning in all assignments. Plenty of chances for extra credit assignments. Speak up in class.
First off this guy will do whatever it takes to help his students. His class is challenging but not impossible. I never read the textbook but i went to every class and printed lecture notes to take to class. Never a dull day in this class, I learned a lot and very generous with extra credit! great teacher!
Study for the tests, show up to class, participate in discussions and you will get an A. Lectures are based off class notes you can find on moodle. Little emphasis on textbook. Curves. He posts detailed study guides before every test and leaves ample class time to discuss grades and tests. You will never worry about how you are doing in the class.
Really good Professor. If you study the outline notes you will do fine. I did not use the book and still got an A. Attendance is mandatory and start early on the paper or be prepared for no sleep.
Really interesting to listen to he's funny and captured my attention in a class I didn't think I'd like. Says you need to read the book but I didn't. Maybe just for the California stuff because he doesn't go over that much in class. Give yourself time to finish the two papers and make sure you know the terms
Gabrielli is a great professor. His lectures are really hard to take notes on, but, if you ask him, he'll tell you exactly what you need to know. Readings are difficult and you write a short summary on each one, but he grades very easily. Just do all the assignments and go to class every day (2 points free just for showing up)and you'll get an A.
Great professor, his online class is very well organized. Weekly quizzes, forum questions, 2 papers, and 3 exams. Uses a lot of info from his notes and slides on the exams, as well as previous exam questions. Straightforward and easy grader. Keep up with the work and you'll get a good grade.
Echoing everyone else's comments. He is one of the most fair professors. He is responsive and helpful. Only downside was the Moodle course was not organized in the "usual" format. I missed a few forums cause I didn't find them. Not sure if that was his error or mine. But I caught on later to check through the grade book to see what was due.
By far one of my favorite professors. His lectures are a bit difficult but they are usually based on the readings. His assignments are all related to the book which he requires a summary of the section. Pretty much just turn in every assignment and you will easily pass the class. Probably the toughest assignment was the research paper we had to do.
Great teacher! Responds to email usually the same day you send it. He is very helpful. The course I took was online so at most times I was confused or didn't understand something, however he usually clarifies if you ask him to. Great teacher! I highly recommend him. Reading from the text is a must! All of his quizzes are on the readings assigned.
Mr. Gabrielli is the best professor at Pierce. He is very helpful and fair.
Gabrielli is full of knowledge. He is hands down one of the greatest professors at Pierce College. He is hilarious, there when you need help, and tells some incredible stories about his life. Do all the reaction papers. Go to class and listen to his lectures and you will pass final exam. Gives extra Credit and Study Guides. Got an A!
By far the hardest class I have EVER taken. His test are excruciatingly hard. Not clear w his assignments. I have been emailing him back and forth literally every single week multiple times a week! He only replies to some of my emails. According to him "this is the first time grades have been this low in his class" OKAY..
He was a really good teacher. He does spend the whole class lecturing but tries to keep it entertaining so it's not as long. You need to buy the book because there are 4 exams and they do use a lot of terms that you can only find in the book. He's straight forward on tests & tells you what's on them in advance. Only 2 papers the whole semester.
Mr. Gabrielli's online course was easy to follow. He is always available via email or chat sessions and responds quickly to any questions. There is a lot of reading and participation is required in online forum discussions. Quizzestests are pulled directly from the book so do the reading. Can easily get an A if you stay on top of assignments.
I recommend any one who need's Political Science 1 to take it with Professor Anthony Gabrielli because he presents his lectures well with lots of clarity and is helpful to make sure you pass the class.
Gabrielli is really awesome. He cares about his students. I had a statistics professor that would not make office hours for me so he offered to help. He's fair. Print out & use study guides and you will succeed. He offers a lot of really fun extra credit. There are 2 papers to write and 4 exams. He does curve. Participate & you'll get a good grade.
His online class is very clear, but be ready to do a lot of reading if you want to get an A. He does provide a lot of resources including powerpoints to help you out though. He's also quick to respond to emails and looks like he puts a lot of effort into helping students. Also, don't cheat. He caught several students this semester.
Took his online class, prepare to read a lot. Class is pretty clear and the online setup is pretty neat. You have weekly discussions, quizzes, 3 tests, and 2 papers. He is a fair grader, and responds right away. He has videos of himself giving lectures too, along with other videos. Nice teacher and easy if you work hard.
He is very kind, also very funny! I enjoy his class, Its not a hard class even if you the fail test, he sometimes curves, also gives a lots extra credit! do go on the essays! and good final, IT can be an Easy A!
He is very funny! I enjoy his class, Its not a hard class even if you the fail test, he sometimes curves, also gives a lots extra credit! do go on the essays! and good final, IT can be an Easy A!
He's very funny. There was homework once a week but once you get the hang of it then it becomes no big deal. The tests and essay are very straightforward as well. Seriously, he also gives great advice and I'm very happy I took his class.
If you are not a person of great intellect, or just lazy then I would not advise you to take the course. Especially with Gabrielli as your professor. The work load is not much, it just pushes beyond your boundaries of critical thinking. Also, Gabrielli is amazing because he condenses the information and allows you to comprehend it. LOML
I have taken 3 Poli sci classes with this professor and I would take another if I could with him. Of all the Poli sci professors on campus, he is by far the best! In class discussions are always the best, they're always logical and you must do the readings to pass! He is funny and he is very impactful on students when he goes off on tangents.
Best political science professor at Pierce! He relates the material to our lives, which makes the class more interesting. It also stimulates interesting class discussions. Provides study guides and outlines of his lectures online. His tests are lecture based; attend class. Barely used the book. He curves the test if the average is too low.
The lectures are SO interesting. He condenses the information in a way that makes you understand it. Makes the content relatable as well. You HAVE to read the book because you have to write a one page paper on every philosopher. Tests are essay only. He provides a study guide. If you're a good A/B student, you should do fine in his class.
He offers a lot of extra credits and these extra credits may help you in the class and even in real life. All of his EC are easy to do. e.g: watch a movie and show the proof that you watched it. His lectures are more in depth than his notes. Any questions are welcomed in his class. He wants you to learn and think for yourself, critical thinking...
Easy class! I took it online
Professor Gabrielli was a pleasure to take. His class was so informative and educational, he believes in shaping a good citizen of this country. His lectures are a must, most of what he talks about will be in the exams. He's pretty straight forward doesn't try to trick you. Write good notes and make a good study guide from his outlines.
Good professor.
He's actually a funny guy. His lectures are detailed and not too difficult to understand. He gives the study guide very early before you even start the material and his tests are super easy! As long as you follow the study guide and read the notes, it's a joke! He always gives bonus answers for free for fun and has a review day! Recommend!
Really good Prof. He gives decent study guides and gives all of the material you need for the test in his lectures. As long as you take good notes and reference the study guide, you will get an A. There are 3 exams & then the final. They are pretty easy if you study. There are written Q's so make sure you know the material.
Gabrielli is a funny, charismatic man. The tests are fairly easy because he provides study guides that say exactly what will be on the tests. No twists or turns very thing is straight up.
I seriously loved this professor. The thought of taking political science was kind of scary to me because the subject material is hard. And while he does go off on a lot of tangents in his lectures, he's very clear about what will be on the tests, and the directions of the papers. His tests are seriously so clear and easy for such a tough subject.
I'm not into Pol Sci at all but I took him during Summer for Pol Sci 1 and he was the best. I have never rated a professor before but Gabrielli just made the class very interesting and clear. He has a lot of patience & he will help the class to prepare for very test. I wish every professor was like him. I would take him over any other professors.
I took Pol Sci 1 on summer with Dr. Gabrielli and he made this class so easy for me to understand. Also he is very helpful and fair in the grading. He tells you exactly what's going to be on the test!! He provides you study guides and extra credit . Plus his lectures are not boring at all.. he speaks the truth in how our political system works!
He is the best professor. I recommend him to any one who needs's Political Science to take. He is the most amazing professor and super easy class and you also learn a lot from his lecture, he is not boring at all and offers extra credits and everything he talks about in class will be on the exam. It will be easy A if you take notes in class.
good professor and offers extra credit!! easy class with a lot of interesting infos
one of the coolest professor's I've ever had. extremely knowledgable and passionate about the subject. accessible outside of class. assigns extra credit. def will take him again.
Poli Sci 5 with Gabrielli consists of a paper due every week and a ton of reading to go with it. This is the most challenging poli sci class at pierce so I would not recommend it if you aren't into philosophy. However, I got a lot out of his class and he is a really sweet and chill guy.
Prof. Gabrielli is a great professor and all, very passionate & knowledgeable about the subject, great sense of humor, but he lectures way too fast at times; sometimes not enough for you to write everything down so you will need the book to go back and review a bit! other than great, an amazing professor.
PoliSci 5 with Gabrielli was fun and easy. Only 1 test for the final. 2 essays for the midterm, 1 for the final. 11 reaction papers, 1pg each, but they're easy enough to do the night before each one is due, so long as you can read well. The book is needed for the papers, but you can use the library copies and save cash.
Decent teacher. Class wasn't too hard, just a lot of reading an writing. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. The whole class is out of 400 points. Overall an okay class but I wouldn't suggest taking it unless you are a political science or if you have to because the reading is hard to understand. HATES CHEATERS!
Professor Gabrielli is great! Really passionate about the subject and has a good sense of humor about it. He can lecture a bit fast, but his tests are mainly based on those so attend class. I didn't buy the book but still got a B, I recommend getting the book for an A. Grades the two papers fairly easy as well!
Anthony is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. He is charismatic, hysterical, sarcastic, and inspirational. On the first day of class he told us, "if I don't offend you, then I'm not doing my job" and he did a good job of offending us while still respecting and teaching us. Simply put, he's an incredible teacher.
Gabrielli is honestly one of the most stimulating and incredible teachers I've ever had. I took him for political science 1, 5, and 50. Seriously, the class was full of debate (mainly just him and I) and it was just such a great experience. Take him if you are genuinely interested in politics.
Prof Gabrielli is AMAZING. He is extremely smart but is able to communicate the course work for people who are not familiar with the subject. Exams are tough but if you're in class every day you can get an A without studying too much. The two papers are straightforward and he helps you. Wish i could have had him for more classes.
Professor Gabrielli is amazing instructor. He is very passionate about the subject but he teaches it in a fun way that makes it interesting for every one else too. His tests are pretty easy as long as you take decent notes in the class. i would recommend for anyone to take his class
One of the worst professor I ever had. Not culturally sensitive, let students get off-topic, and made uncomfortable "jokes" in class. I really hated to attend because of this. His lectures often felt rushed and were frankly rather boring when they weren't. I would never take him again, especially on an election year (it was terrible in 2016).
This is the hardest class I have ever taken but Ive learned the most in this class and for me it was worth it. If you are just trying to get an easy A this isnt the class for you. Smartest professor out there.
I took this class expecting a pretty easy A, but this teacher really makes you work for it. I learned a lot and I love his personality, but I recommend this class for Poli sci majors only.
I loved him! It is a lecture heavy class, so you need to come to class. However, the tests are super easy! He gives you study guides and they are directly from his lecture. There were two essays. He gives you plenty of time to prepare for them and a grading rubric. He will drop you if you don't show up the day tests are passed back.
Take him because he is pretty straight forward. No tricks. He does a exam review with the class. Multiple choice format and a essay. Great lecture overall, at time he will talk about real world issues which is also informative. DO IT! He wants his students to succeed.
He was very funny in the first day of class, he really doesn't care about your opinion he's there to teach the class. extra credit, and a lot of studying but it was a great experience i would definitely take the class again.
Do yourself a favor and take this class. Although he makes you write weekly papers, and plenty of condensed reading, I actually felt like I learned something, practiced my writing and prepared for a faster pace at the UC. Classroom is pretty chill, and also hilarious. Too bad it was my last semester at Pierce. I would've taken other courses w him
Took him in the summer! Best decision ever, I heard spring and fall are much more work. Regardless he is entertaining and helpful. Dont be afraid to ask questions he is so nice. He makes lectures interesting and enjoys telling the class stories. I really dont like school but I definitely enjoyed this course. Study hard and show him you care!
If you want to learn & make an "A" take this class! In my opinion the knowledge that this professor has he should be teaching at a Lvy League College. He's really nice and prepares you to transfer to 4 yr College. He doesn't sugar coat anything, which is good because you need to learn the subject without being bias. Ask questions & you'll be fine
Prof Gabrielli is quite the character. He's hilarious yet a bit strict at the same time. There are 4 tests that are mostly multiple choice questions, 2 essays, and he offers plenty of extra credit. He tends to go off topic sometimes so please don't throw him off or else this could affect how well you will do on the tests.
Amazing teacher! Make sure to pay close attention, he reviews lectures quickly. He is funny and lectures are interesting. There aren't many assignments, only 2 essays, so make sure to do well! There are four tests which are pretty straight forward and many easy extra credit options.
An amazing and valuable experience
For community college, this class was too much work/studying. Don't take it unless its a major requirement because he makes you work for it. He's ready to drop you if you miss 2 classes or even if you leave after the midterm since he'll continue lecturing. However, I learned a lot in his class-- probably the most i've learned in any college class.
Hes pretty good
He is probably the best professor I had. You would appreciate learning about politics and government even though it is not your major. He is not biased with his political lectures and he is very funny. Take notes and you'll be fine.
Great profesor
Before I decided to take his class, I read reviews, which were mainly bad, but I decided to take his class anyway. He is such a good professor, he knows what he is talking about, he's lectures are not boring, and he likes to debate. If you like philosophy, or your major is political science, I highly encourage you take him!
Always keep up with him! Dr. Gabrielli is very knowledgeable and passionate for what he does. He is very good at keeping out bias, and yet many students still got pretty offended if he were to say anything good about president trump. Lectures could get beyond inspirational- he puts the science in POLSCI. he gets 100% for his job this semester.
He is a funny professor and tends to go off topic occasionally. He gave 2 essays and 3 tests . If you don't attend every class or do the readings, you will not pass. Don't show up late to class he does not like that. Overall he is a great professor who is very opinionated and likes to help you if you need it. I would definitely take again.
He's an amazing professors, his class is enioyable to attend. Take great notes and study them and you'll be fine on the tests. He reviews for tests and he has a clear grading criteria on essays.
Great professor. Took him over 5 week summer session. The class only did two exams and one essay. Most of the material in cover in his lectures were on his exam. Each exam had 100 questions. NO LATE WORK. If late, work would not be accepted. First day of class, he claims that he is cynical, but that just who he is. Be engage by asking questions.
Professor Gabrielli really made political philosophy interesting. Prepare to do a decent amount of work, but if you do it, youll get an A. Take him, trust me, hes amazing!
This class is one of the hardest political science classes at Pierce College but to be honest I learned so much in his class. I give you one advice take the politicial science 001 online! The tests are similar to his lecture but few questions are from the book so get ready to read +4 chapters for each test.
This man is very brilliant and he will make you work very hard however, you will be prepared for a UC level course. You have reaction papers due every week, a midterm, a research paper, and a final exam. If he sees you trying and turning in all the assighnments he will give you the A.
This man is brilliant & passionate! Reflected through his structured and thorough lectures. He incorporates great stories into his lessons & keeps students really engaged. Provides a list of extra credit opportunities so take advantage of that! 3 papers & 4 exams in the semester. All require some work & study, but not too difficult.
I genuinely did NOT like this professor when class first started. He seemed like he didn't care about any of us and had & made it seem like he didn't want to help us. Now that the class has moved online he has done so much to help us by posting lecture videos and is actually so much more helpful! He talks very quickly so be ready for that!
His class was difficult (during the COVID 19 online transition we received more work than usual). Be ready to write a reaction paper every week and a big research paper at the end of the term. The midterm was 2 essays, and the final was an essay + a bunch of short answer questions. Hard class, great professor, be sure to come with a good mentality!
He was amazing!! I took him during the spring semester and was very kind and caring. Because of the whole COVID-19, he gave us multiple extra credit opportunities. This class does require you to study, but as long as you do that you should be able to pass. He gives 3 tests and a final exam, and only two easy papers.
Took him this spring & he's great. Attend class & take notes. Those who took him this spring may have had a different experience due to the pandemic & found it to be a bit easier. You have 2 papers to write, put in effort & you'll surely get a B on it. Study for the exams! I didn't due bad or great on those. There's extra credit & he curves grades.
Prof. G is solid. His class consists of 2 papers and 4 exams. The class started in person but then switched to online because of COVID-19. He had lectures through zoom, not recorded. Exams were open book and open note, timed and not proctored. It's an easy online class. He takes no excuses, no late work or extends dates. Stay on track w/ due dates.
It was a great class. I learned a lot and it was very engaging. There are a lot of opportunities to participate in EC so take advantage of it! Read and study! Overall an enjoyable class and the professor is organized!
Gabrielli is by far the best professor I have ever had. I took him my first semester of college and it was the only class I didn't almost fall asleep in. Very enthusiastic and shows that he truly cares. he isnt bias and is very good at giving feedback.
He is such an amazing professor! This class requires a lot of reading. There are reaction papers due every week and he grades on participation. His lectures are informative and interesting since he tends to get off-topic. My advice is to participate and become his friend. He is very reasonable. 100% recommend to political science majors like me.
TAKE HIM!! Amazing professor! Made political science enjoyable and inspired me to major in it. Even though the class is online he is open to making individual zoom meetings with you in case you need help. Loads of extra credit. Easy 5 question quizzes that you have 1hr for and 4 unit exams. No midterm or final. Few discussion boards and one essay.
Professor Gabrielli is definitely the best professor I have ever had. He allows for amazing conversation and is accepting of all different opinions. Definitely a lot of work, but as long as you read the material and participate you will get an A. He truly cares and I will remember him forever.
So much extra credit. Very fun class. Everything is in his lecture videos. Hes actually the best teacher. Super nice and funny and is always accessible for office hours if you email him the day before. He is generous with grading since he allows up to 30 points extra credit. His assignments are easy but he doesnt really accept late work, be aware
The classs workload is overly demanding with lots of quizzes (i.e. you have to be at peak performance every week and its easy to mess up). As for the professor, hes INCREDIBLY particular and not in a good way. Hes tough when it comes to grading and sometimes his reasons for deducting points dont even make sense. Please save your mental health.
Professor Gabrielli is a really great prof! Took PolSci 001 during winter and it was a breeze. Short lectures and clear outlines. Super interesting material and lots of extra credit. Very quick to answer questions as well.
Professor Gabrielli was one of the stricter graders that I have had which made some assignments more difficult than others, but he did provide great feedback.
Don't take him. I have a classmate that plagiarized 72% of their research paper according the professor's feedback on their paper and still got a decent grade of 70/100 with no report to the dean. I did not plagiarize, spent weeks, and somehow got a lower score than someone who literally cheated. On all assignments he has been a very strict grader
I took Prof. Gabrielli's 8 week Political Science 001 course and although it had multiple quizzes every week and an exam every 2 weeks, it was very manageable. Definitely take notes on the PowerPoints as the quizzes and tests are derived from them. Quizzes are open note. Not exactly an easy A but as long as you try it is very attainable.
I took his class over the summer online. Very clear in grading. Follow the rubric to a T. EVERYTHING on the quiz is converted in lectures. He has posted copies of his PowerPoint that are very clear and thorough. Quizzes are open notes. Tests are longer but very very similar content-wise. VERY VERY generous rounding. Responds to emails quickly too
He's a pretty easy teacher you don't have to read that much in his class for the quizzes as they mostly contain all the content from power points that he gives. You can take his quizzes multiple times the tests are also fairly easy. The only hard thing was the research paper that you had to do at the end of the term as the final.
There is an essay due every week and some weeks multiple. Class is not mandatory but I recommend you go no power points or notes sent to you if you cannot attend lecture the reason I got frustrated was because we had to teach ourselves all of the material in order to write the weekly essays. It was really difficult to learn this material on my own
super particular about formatting and not in an understanding way. don't deviate from his instructions or he'll gladly knock your grade down.
Professor Gabrielli's class is a breeze with lots of extra credit. The lectures are super engaging, and Unstuck study proved invaluable for effective study prep. Highly recommend!
Professor Gabrielli was very disorganized and had poor scheduling. He is also very particular about what he wants on his papers but never explains what he wants. Make sure you're in class or you won't get the information you need for the exams and this class is extremely exam heavy as there are 4 exams, 2 papers, and the final.
A kind professor who's fairly lenient on grading. However, they recently changed their test system to written exams. One of the most pressing issues is feedback on these exams as most of their responses feature grammatical errors and lack of punctuation. Be ready to study but don't rush through, you'll regret it.
Professor Gabrielli is kind and wants students to succeed. Lecture/exam heavy class with written exams. Sometimes you get unlucky on the exams and get questions that are more difficult than others, but if you study really hard this might not even be an issue for you. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and responds to emails quickly.
4 exams written they are easy because its open note and 300 words for essay question and 150 for 3 short answer. Offers lots of easy extra credit and I passed with a 98. he boosts your grade 2 percent if you submit all your work on time he's very considerate. Responds to email fast. Also his quizzes are super easy. Just take him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Very rude and disrespectful Is a very hard grader and doesn't care about the students learning. I do not recommend and wish I dropped the class before the deadline.
goes off on related tangents that can be interesting but are not relevant for exams or papers, is a picky grader but gives vague feedback, purposely says controversial things in order to garner discourse
This is the worst professor I have ever had in my entire life, and I have had a desk hurled at me. He graded me a 0, saying my exam was AI generated, not because it came back AI generated, but because what I discussed wasn't in our textbook. He then proceeded to send me no report, and threatened me to drop his class or he would report me. (I did)
Worst professor I've ever had at pierce. Every day in this class was miserable. Essays due weekly, with vague instructions (that he sometimes would not even include in the rubric) but would take points off for not following. Save yourself while you can and do not take this prof. He takes joy in saying controversial things to ragebait students.
One of the most influential classes I've taken at Pierce. Be sure you are comprehending the topics discussed as they will matter on the final. One one-page paper due weekly, a midterm, research paper, and final. You will never receive a 100% from him. Can say somewhat controversial things but it is a politics class.
Prof Gabrielli is a very knowledgeable professor in the field of Political Science. That being said, his class is probably the most challenging Political Science course I have taken, which I think isn't a negative aspect. I would honestly say that I learned a lot, and if you are taking his class for an easy A, that certainly wouldn't be the case.
very picky when it came to grading which wouldn't usually be a problem (it is their job) but when I turned in my exam which was four questions which needed a paragraph of 200 words each and one with 300, he immediately insisted it was AI due to my lack of misspelling and it took me about 20 minutes. Completely outrageous and out of touch.
Five week course with a few 5 question quizzes per week and an exam with a few FRQ based on the slides. Just read the slides provided and you will do well on the exams/quizzes. One research paper about halfway through the course, but he gives clear guidelines and will answer emails on it. Overall an easy and interesting class.
