He's a pretty good teacher. He's quite okay. But you need to do the homework for maximum points to passed this course without any pressures.
This teacher is hot. He's got a body like Arnold Schwarzenneggar, and is very cool.
His a likeable teacher and very intellectual. You will learn how to write a better essay than in a english class. But if you want to pass this class you better study hard.
Very good teacher that is extremely knowledgable. Homework and little assignments count for too much of the grade, but overall the class is very good. He is very clear and you will learn a lot
Good course, but teacher is a bit of a jerk. Seems to prefer arguing for its own sake rather than engaging in reasoned discussion. Get old and annoying after a bit... Better to avoid if you can.
He doesn't make Phil 4 a fun class, but his grading were very fair when I took his class. You just need to be patient from time to time when he lectures nonstop. Keep in mind that what Phil 4 is all about discussing concepts so it can't be that fun!
Excellent teacher! Very knowledgeable and friendly. The class debates and discussions are very stimulating. The guy who said he is a jerk is a moron - probably a lazy putz who wants a little revenge for a bad grade. You'll like his class.
He is not helpful whatsoever! The whole class is worth 100 points Don't bother with the reading he doesn't go over it. And if you point out something it's like he is making excuses to make himself seem right. Just don't take him.
This is an easy class, if you are not a total dumbass. Some people dont like him because they did bad in the class, but I can guarantee that those same people never studied for any of the tests, and didnt do the homework. Its a super easy class.
This class was ok. Easy if you study, hard if you don't. Hanson is alright, fair grading, his attendance policy sucks ass though.
This teacher should not be teaching as he easily has the most arrogant & uncompromising attitude. He takes points off your grade if you are only one minute late & though the material isn't terribly difficult, his teaching style is one-sided/uninteresting.
horrible horrible grading system. But teaches the subject pretty dam well.
Don't recommend him. Was quite unclear and unsure of himself about the material. Some of the students in class seemed to know more than he did. Homework is easy, reading will bore you to death. Group presentation at end of quarter is easy. Very boring!
he wasnt clear with all the work, he should have explained it more since it was a summer course. his points were out of a 100. sometimes it seemed like he didnt know what he was talking about.overall not a good teacher!
His teaching style isn't very interesting. At times, he seemed a little too biased. He TRIED to make it interesting by adding group activities. Even if you study for his class, you might have problems getting an A or a B.
Excellent class. Hanson explains things very well and is very knowledgeable. I enjoyed learning fallacies and analyzing arguments. Fun class!
great teacher, and fun class. Don't listen to the disgruntled losers seeking revenge. There are 4 tests, and you do two group presentations. Very enjoyable class! Hanson is cool. He looks like a bouncer
Good class! Very good instructor. If your attendance is regular, and you follow instructions, you will do well.
good teacher, seems a little defensive of his opinions. pretty simple and straight foward class. not much hw, but when he does give it, it takes about 1/2 hr. nice guy. take him and you won't be too sorry. not for people who can't get to class within first 3 minutes!
this class is so boring but Mr.Hanson is a nice guy.
I se to love philosophy. But I don't any more thanks to this class. He is not clear in what he expects and he's always more into what he thinks. He doesn't care much of the students' opinions. Philosophy is based on discussions. It is not always biased. I would think twice about taking this class with this professor.
Very good prof. He grades failry and explains things clearly. He is strict about attendance and assigns a few group assignments. He likes to play the devil's advocate when students express opinions to show the other side of the debate. Very good class!!!!!
Most inept teacher I have ever had, anywhere. If you have any desire to learing somthing stay far away from this hack.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I DEFINETLY DON'T RECOMEND IT. I'M TELLING U AGAIN DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
What looked like playing devil's advocate to the students, actually was Hanson's unwitting resort to the fallacious tactics noted in the text. The subject requires a master thinker. Hanson just isn't it. Grading reflected attendance - not student accomplishment. Unfortunate.
He is probably the worst teacher i've ever had. He isnt the teaching type of person. He's very unclear and grading is very strict--> attendance.
Before taking this class, I read all of these negative reviews and thought I was in for something terrible... but what the hell? This class was very easy. Grading was straightforward and out of 100 points. I don't understand what all the fuss was about. Seriously, this class is an easy A (if you are good at English, that is).
Nice enough, put alot of weight on attendance... "if your name starts with Z, then you have more time to get here before you get docked points for tardiness". Seemed to me that he only half knew what he was talking about. I never felt that I could trust nething he was saying... almost like he was just thrown into teaching, not the teaching type.
Excellent teacher! Liked his class and discussions a lot. Just come to class, and read the book, and you'll ace it.
I took his class a year ago. It wasn't the easiest class, but it was one of the interesting. He knows his material and tries to clarify it for you. For A you have to read the book, do all exercises, be in the class, bring your homework. English is my second language but I got an A.
If you like teachers with an ego he's the one for you. He thinks he's hot AND an intellectual at the same time, whatever!
His class was not the easiest and I could never stay focused. He seems like he only knows philosophy from the text and when somebody challenges him, he doesn't know what to say. Total meat head and thinks he is so hot, but he is not! Just do the homework and show up for class and it should be alright. Tests are kind of confusing.
Cool teacher. Good class. Liked his style. Tests are pretty easy
Difficult subject to teach, and he does fairly well. Gets locked into his own mindset sometimes, but tries to stay open on the average day. Though he can be a bit confusing at times, he makes up for it with easy grading on most projects and homework. Read ahead and participate in class and you’ll learn something and get an A.
The quizzes and attendance are the most important part of your grade. If you don't already have an understanding of critical thinking you might get lost as he tends to run off on his own tangents sometimes.
Great class, and teacher. Learned a lot. Pretty easy.
He was OK. I thought the class was gonna be fun, but he made it totally based on the book which was boring. Nice guy, but he seems like he is trying to be too cool or nervous or something.
Excellent teacher. Interesting lectures, and a fair grader. Like the class a lot.
Took Hanson couple quarters ago still use his critiques of fallacy with media and political messages. Just wish he would no make us think so much.
if you like to discuss topics and do are flexible with you preset beliefs, then this is the class for you. i loved being in class. but beware there is alot of stuff you need to learn outside of class, which if you ignore, will get you an F in 2 weeks. great class to just walk into, but a hard one for a grade.
Professor Hanson is a pretty good teacher. He knows the proper way to teach philosophy, getting people to think a lot and be open to different views and opinions. He is pretty helpful and easy on grading. Allows you to use notes for all the tests but you need to understand the principles not just terminology or you will do poorly.
I was extremely surprised that I got a B+ in the class. I was feeling like I had a D or F the whole time. I got C's and D's on the test, and did 9 out of 10 easy h.w. assignments, and got a B+. He doesnt grade H.W. He just signs it and so you get full credit. Interesting class. I played video games on my computer everyday in class.
I attended this class thinking it was going to be fun but it turned out otherwise. You'll be okay if you like to argue with others but if you don't I wouldn't suggest his class.
Good guy. Knows his stuff. Don't let his occasional pugnacity scare you; he's a nice guy at heart.
He is probably THE WORST teacher/prof i have ever had. he is very unclear and his class is very unstructured. DO NOT TAKE! don't waste ur time and find another teacher for sure!
Can somebody spell EASY! Jeez. The way he started out seemed like class was going to be so hard.a few people even dropped.but if u stay, you wont regret it.He gave alota extra credit at the end & he grades really easy. D-grade is a B & a C is an A. I failed the 1st test, got a C on the 2nd, and a C- on the 3rd but an A in the class! rock on hansen!
awesome teacher, easy class, seems harder than it is. just do the homework (which he doesn't check, just initials that you did something). there is 1 easy essay & a couple group works that're even easier. tests r kinda confusing but they don't count much for the grade. he curves grade a lot. i was thrilled to get an A. & he rides a motorcycle. cool
easiest class of my life, i'm surprised he isnt rated higher
took him for phil 1 and 2, got A and A-. real easy, just hang in there and it'll pay off. it seems like he tries to intimidate you at first but rewards those who stick through it. don't worry about failing, you wont in this class. he doesnt give d's or f's
holy wow. i could have sworn that i was going to get a C or D in his class. i didn't ace anything. but last week, he was showing us what are final grades will most likely be... and wtf i get an A-!!! no way. i totally underestimted him. he is the bomb!
good, easy class. he gives study guide before test so just study that and get A
Pretty ambivalent about Hanson, his quizes are somewhat tough and definitely should not be taken lightly if you want an A. Homework almost every class, not too hard. This class requires work though!
He's a good teacher and a fair grader. Just vaguely follow his instructions, and it's an easy A. I hope I get an A in this class too!
The truth about this professor is that he is totally not helpful. I was bored out of my mind through out the whole entire quarter. His tests are hard. I feel like he's unclear and mumbles a lot. Sometimes I don't even know what he's saying. His final is hard too. He gave us 60 questions and 2 essay questions.
took this teacher and was very hard and confusing. but stuck around as most of the people on this rating said to stick around but it was a wrong choice. i went to every class, did all the assignments but got a C. Don't take this teacher
You GOTTA listen carefully to his lectures b/c little things tend to show up on the quizzes. But if you keep up with the reading summaries as suggested for HW and listen to his lectures, the quizzes are easy. Final is difficult because it was cumulative & there was no review..60 mc, 2 essays. small, easy HW assignments. 1 group project.
ended with a B+ in his class even though i was definitely one of the smarter students in his class. I'm in high school, and since im smarter than 99.5% of de anza students, this class is probably medium-hard. If you dont pay attention, take notes, and study, you will probably get a C at best.
No, it not hard. I can't believe some people below got worse than B. I only did 6 of the 9 homeworks, got a 89% on first test, 71% on second, and 76% on third, and got an A- grade. Easier than you think, there is a study guide for his class online
TWO WORDS= HE SUCKS, why you ask? He is not helpful. Whoever wrote that he doesn't give D's or F's is a liar. His classes are extremely boring. He can't write properly. The most interesting thing that he did all quarter was bring the class cookies. Other than that it was all snore snore bore bore you suck. Learn to be more interesting and helpful.
tight teacher! sit back relax, get out early. if you want an A+ then maybe talk a little in class. i got an B+, totally thought I was going to get a D (cuz all my test grades were Ds and Cs). i was so worried at the end, but ecstatic when i got my grades. woo hoo!
Wow people rating this professor as hard demonstrate the level of most de anza students. His test are true/false and matching- if you just listen in class you should get an A. You seriously need to try not to do well as I see many people doing by playing on their phones (probably the ones not getting why they're failing). Very doable A
very acheivable A grade you just need to study the homework he gave for the test. then test is easy. also there are about 6 homeworks and he doesnt look at it, just write something to get for credit, but read the short assignment or A grade. easy multiple choiced exam.
this teacher is pathetic in terms of teaching. He tries to explain things but his lecture is clearly useless by the amount of people in the class that tune out. I am probably going to get an -A/B+ in this class but in terms of teaching it is terrible.
Mysterious teacher. Sometimes I think he cares more about protein than his students. Has a 'well, whatever' attitude which may be fine for some, but may provoke others since he is teaching philosophy/logic. Oh, and he forces you to bring cookies if your phone rings during class. Quite possibly the most random thing I've ever experienced.
Hanson is easy. He is a sexy beastie man.
This teacher is one of the best I have had at De Anza. He is very fair and clear. He answers all of the questions on the quizzes and tests in his lectures. So all you need to do is listen carefully or take notes. If you cannot get at least a B in his class, you are a moron or a slacker, which is about 85% of the students here.
First off, not hot. secondly, its tough to get an A in the class, but easy to get a B. you really just gotta do the readings like a zillion times over before the test and then maybe you'll do well. dont recommend it, try another teach.
there are professors who love to teach, then there are those who love to make your head reel and make you feel worthless. i signed up to learn and to be taught ...unfortunately i ended up with this guy. passive-agressive teacher who probably is pissed that philosophers don't rule the economic world.
passive aggressive professor. probably had trouble making friends uses it to brow beat current students.
First of all, he is far from hot, he looks like the actor Mickey Rourke. Worst class I have ever taken at De Anza. It was completely useless! He has the need to always be right, even if he repeats what you just said. All of his test are based off the readings, so do not pick the logical answer choose what he would say. Do not recommend him at all!!
He's not a horrible teacher. Just keep up with the daily assignments, and do what you can to pass. There are worse teachers out there, he's one of the better ones.
I think he was an 8/10 teach. As long as you do the homework you'll do fine. He even has you work on the homework in class, in groups. The tests are just like the homework. So again, do it and keep up! DO NOT leave it till the end. As for the tests, there are 5 total. He drops one and they are open book/note tests; final is not and comprehensive.
This teacher was the worst teacher i've ever taken in my life. He was never sure about what he was teaching, always confused. And he was "ALWAYS" right , although it's suppose to be a philosophy class. Hardest grader ever. You can probably learn more off the book than the way he teaches. DO NOT recommend him.
absolutely the worst teacher i've ever had. he is awkward in front of the class and does not belong in a class room at all. terrible at explaining things and has to have the last word and always has to be right. very unorganized. would not recommend him at all..
I enjoyed his class a lot. Great teacher. Open book tests except for the final.
POS class...dont take it. Tests every week, doesnt teach, did not learn anything useful. Boring. If you want to waste your summer take it. Horrible.
I find the negative comments very surprising. Must be grade vengeance reviews. I think Professor Hanson is an excellent teacher. Extremely articulate, intelligent and fair. I would highly recommend him. He's a good dude, and did me a square deal.
Very good teacher. I took Professor Hanson's Social and Political Philosophy class, and found it very interesting. He is extremely knowledgeable about philosophy. You will learn a lot. He is a pretty easy grader, since he knows philosophy is a difficult subject. I got a B in the class. Liked Hanson a lot. He is cool guy, and a fair teach.
Do Not Take this class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to end up with a B or higher, but this is not at all easy....if you are doing this for GEs do something else or at least a different professor. Not recommended at all, read the book, which is a must and pay attention. Stay for the full time. I regret doing this class.
Great class.I took phil 01 - intro to philiosophy. I enjoyed prof Hanson's class very much. It made me think sbout things I had never thought about before. I got a B which was fair.
I liked Mr. Hanson a lot. He was very helpful. He is also super smart. The class is interesting if you like debating.
Professor Hanson is very fair. As long as you come to class, pay attention, and do the homework there is no reason that you should not be able to obtain an A or a B. He also gives your grade leeway if your attendance is good. I found the course to be very interesting and engaging, especially in regards to fallacies, which is a good life-skill.
Excellent teacher. Very knowledgeable. Easy to get an A if you do the reading and take notes.
Ha. I think I had the class the last guy reviewed. Half the students never brought their books were late and didn't really even belong in a college classroom. Mr. Hanson is a very cool teacher. Phil 04 class is super easy. You can use your book on tests. He throws out the lowest test score. You only need 68 percent to pass. 78 for B. Best class.
Mr. Hanson is a very good prof. Learning logical fallacies is interesting. He is super knowledgeable and a cool guy.
Hanson seems to know his material but he does not know how to educate his students. Instead of giving constructive critism on our 10-12 page essay, he is very biased and only gives his views. He's very nice teacher, but he is also very picky. We were left to watch videos for 3-4 classes in a row which I felt was a waste of time.
He's an amazing teacher and really engages with his students. He is a rough grader and expects a lot from the students (work wise, class participation). I took two of his courses and he really knows the material. Take his class if you're willing to read a lot of material and be tested on it thoroughly.
Are you kidding me, how is this guy a teacher? The only thing I learned from this class came from Michael Sandel, a Harvard professor whose lectures we watched every day. The discussions had little direction as I don't really think Hanson knows how to ask a coherent question. Ridiculously easy class and he's a nice guy, but painful to sit through.
Nice Guy!
I took Social and Political Philosophy with him last summer, and it was an easy A. We never read a textbook. The homework took about an hour and was assigned each day we had class. I found the class very interesting, though that was probably due to the material, not the teacher. I would take a class with him again, but would check other professors.
Professor Hansen's class was the best I have taken at De Anza. Very smart man. He does a great job linking up philosophy with current issues and films. His class will blow your mind in a good way. Amazing!!!
Syllabus is online, but he's constantly changing it around. Not very clear on his standards of giant paper assignments (the highest grade was a 73% in my class). Spends a lot of time in class giving pointless hypothetical situations in an attempt to clarify philosophical concepts, but ends up confusing us further. Doesn't answer questions clearly.
Professor Hanson is a very cool and nice teacher. Easy grader. He understands the difficulty of philosophy and explains it very clearly. You have to come to class regularly because of you miss you miss alot.
pretty much just lectures in class, which can get boring. hw assignments are response papers/answering questionseasy. pop quizzes in class but he usually gives advance notice. class is easy as long as you do the work and make sure you understand the concepts and ideas that he explains
Would not recommend this professor. He is very nice and has a lot of knowledge about what he teaches. However that does not make him a good teacher; often plays videos and gives questions that are hard to follow and difficult to understand. His website is disorganized and he frequently gives late notice assignments. Turned me away from philosophy.
I found his class boring at first but If you do try understand philosophy you will find it interesting. The good thing with him is that u only need 65% to get a C and if you have perfect attendance he will boost up grade to 5%-10% and he does drop your lowest quiz. Take his class if u need to raise your GPA but make sure u do all the work he gives
Professor Hanson was a great philosophy professor. His homework was done online and his quizzes were extremely easy if you pay attention in his class. Midterm and final were somewhat more difficult because of how he worded the questions. Overall he is a great professor and knows his stuff.
Wacky guy, but lots of fun and very nice. His midterm and final are hard because of how he words the questions, but I found myself working hard in class and barely doing any work outside of class. Super clear about what he wants from you
Entertaining class. Thought provoking topics. Very clear and unbiased, always gives both sides of every philosophical debate without excessively taking a side. What you hear in lecture is what comes in exams.
Awesome professor! Super smart guy, mischievous sense of humor. You don't need to buy a book in his critical thinking class. All the material are online. I can't wait to take his introduction to philosophy class next quarter.
This was one of hardest GE classes I ever took, especially for non-native English speaker. You have to do a lot of reading. I didnt get full points for my homework. I got so sick and and had to skip 4 classes in a row, he didnt give a make up chance.
Pros 1. Coming to class high will provoke some thoughtful dialogue (testimony students). 2. Often arrives late to class. 3. Drops your lowest quiz score at the end. Cons 1. Recaps the entire previous lecture. 2. Formatting of quizzes is a nightmare to comprehend. 3. Looks identical pr0nstar Evan Stone (check Wikipedia page for the image).
Worst GE class at De Anza. Unorganized, no guidance at all. Useless lectures. I'd rather read book because his way of explaining things is too difficult to comprehend. Lots of HW and reading, which he forces us to do even though he never talks about them in class. Random questions with no purpose of understanding material. HARD TESTS, good luck :((
This class is such a mess, it is amazing how people actually pass it. The teacher constantly forgets things or gives out the wrong date for things, so sometimes half the class misses an assignment. The quizzes are phrased in ways that slightly brush upon what he actually taught in class. He also looks like creed when he dressed up like the Joker.
Professor Hanson has made my first Philosophy class a very positive experience. Unlike whats expected of a Philosophy class and teacher, he made it fun, interesting, and easier to comprehend. I didnt study for the final and got a B as I deserved. Not too shabby!
I took Intro to Philosophy with prof Hanson via Foothill online. His choice of text book is more unique, as Palmers Does the center hold? provides basic philosophical knowledge without sounding boring or being too hard to comprehend. Hell make Philosophy fun for you. A bonus point for his generous manner of grading. I got 88% and he gave me A-
Horrible professor. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Hansen proves himself to be a wannabe philosopher. Goes on so many tangents during lecture so you will end up not wanting to pay attention. You're better off reading yourself if you want to learn and actually stay on subject. Not helpful to students if they are having difficulties with the class. Get ready to
Complete joke of a class. Youtube Philosopher wannabe. Sets class back to 15 mins late since he can't keep track of his time and commutes from another school. Literally graded by daily bluebooks(questions off his head) and two quizzes a week with equally absurd questions that he never covers. Unclear grading avoid at all cost listen to the reviews.
Nice enough guy with a decent sense of humor, but not what I'd consider to be a strong lecturer or a commander of the classroom. Took for Knowledge and Reality, really taught you more the history of philosophy than how to think or debate philosophically, but left a lot to be desired. The Spanish film was cool tho.
The material was interesting but difficult to grasp. I appreciated the organization of the class, the clear expectations, and how involved he was in reminding us to get an assignment done. I did not like having quizzes assigned on the weekends and I didn't always find the clarity I wanted in asking a question about the material. Overall, no thanks.
Not good at lecturing got a crappy grade for his philosophy 1 course
Gives you attitude when you respond with detail and in depth answers, yet the questions he asks require in depth responses. Would rather have you write less and doesnt care for or appreciate students who are actually interested and invested in the material.
Bad attitude, a lot of quizzes with confusing content. His quiz questions are twice as confusing and poorly worded as the examples he gives in the course. He also only gives you one minute per question on the tests, which is impossible because it takes about thirty seconds to read his lengthy and poorly worded questions in the first place.
Quiz material is never covered, comes up with the questions off the top of his head. His questions are not even valid statements at times. Just makes no sense.
He gave us quizzes after only assigning a textbook reading and nothing else. He gives no lectures himself and his quiz questions are always really different from the material we covered and really difficult compared to the practice questions and the material we read in our textbook.
I took this class for my first quarter at De Anza, and his class was the only one so far I have disliked. He went on long rants every day and would ridicule students for disagreeing with his (extremely conservative, sometimes offensive) views. His class is an easy A, if you're able to stay awake during lectures.
Eh, he's okay. Not a great teacher, but it's an easy class overall. Final was difficult though. Too much ranting and not very clear.
first off tests are 10 minutes I am a stress test taker and cannot think in 10 minutes. Even if I do all the hw or readings 10 minutes is way to short. That's where I failed the class. I did everything else but failed the tests and I failed the class. I got extra credit for going to a zoom review. one point extra. Worst class ever! rude teacher.
Great teacher. Enjoyed the class. Easy.
Hanson is a super smart professor. Great lectures and discussions. You can get an easy A in this class. Learning the logical fallacies is one of the most useful things I have learned in school. Just study for the quizzes and you will do fine.
Professor Hanson was a joy. As an older student I appreciated his professionalism and expertise. This was the only college class I have taken where I was really pushed to think for myself. The online class has weekly quizzes and readings, and you can do fine as long as you pay attention to the calendar and study for the quizzes.
Awesome class. Great Professor. It has a very structured schedule for online, which I like. You have to do study questions, and take quizzes. Weekly discussions. You need to be good at setting schedule for yourself and making yourself to the preparation for the quizzes. If you need someone to hold your hand, it might not be the best class.
I took this class during my first quarter. He's genuinely the worst teacher I've had so far (2 years later). He was unbelievably rude and ridiculed students for having differing opinions. He's extremely conservative and his political views influence his lessons. He goes on long tangents and then expects us to teach ourselves the material. A joke.
I took Prof Hanson's class Spring 21. He is truly an interesting and smart teacher, I learned so much about the history of philosophy from Mr. Hanson, and how to think philosophically. You have to read the book carefully, but the quizzes are pretty easy and he is a fair grader. One of the best classes ast De Anza.
Easy class. The quizzes are on the reading and they are open book. There is a time limit on the quizzes and final but you have more than enough time to finish them. Hanson has online office hours regularly, and is very accessible. The philosophical topics are really interesting. I highly recommend Mr. Hanson if you want to take philosophy.
It's easy to let the students manage themselves with an online asynchronous format. I was really glad that Prof Hanson didn't do that though; he emailed us with specific quiz information, set up office hours and offered additional appointments, and responded to emails. Great textbook, mostly clear quizzes, course rewards responsibility.
Hanson's class is easy. Just do the reading s and take quizzes which are pretty easy, really. One final test at the end. The discussions were interesting. Fair grader. Would like to take more of his classes but actually. You need to buy a book online but it's cheap.
Proffessor Hanson is very good. Loved his class.
He is compeletly inflexible, the course is not difficult, and the material is interesting and useful (I think this class should be mandatory for all students), but definitely not with this professor.
There are discussions most weeks but they aren't worth a lot of points for the work you do. You need 215/230 points in the class to get an A which I think is a bit outrageous considering how poorly a lot of people did on the midterm and final. 5-6 opportunities for extra credit which bumped me up from an A- to an A.
Extremely right wing and only contradicts his liberal students. Tries to get you defend his political views in assignments under the guise of teaching and debating, though this is definitely not a political science course. A lot of work which is draining having to discuss his bigoted views and he is a condescending man. Find another teacher
I took intro philosophy with this professor, and he was fairly sexist and kept bringing his opinions into the class. If you are female or are genuinely interested in philosophy this class may not be for you. I would recommend grabbing the textbook and giving it a read, but besides that find another teacher.
Had him for Ethics! There were 9 weekly quizzes and 2 big tests, also weekly discussions too. Weekly materials were either pretty minimal or a lot but manageable. As long as you study them, you should be able to ace the quizzes because they were based on the materials. There were 2 extra credit opportunities, and he rounds so do your work!!
I had Mr. Hanson for PHIL 008. DO NOT TAKE! SO MUCHwork and timed quizzes. Also makes them really hard for no reason. Pick anyone else but him. Weekly discussions weren't terrible, but he makes you read and write a lot, as well as watch so many long videos. Every week there's at least one hour long video.
Decent philosophy professor, I like the material he picks out, and he definitely knows his philosophy. Can be a little headstrong about his views, but many times it will help you think beyond what you believe. Quizzes are cancer, he gives very very little time, and the questions are vaguely worded. Can be made up extra credit and other points tho
The discussion is easy points, but the quizzes are quite stressful. The questions can be somewhat weird at times, and there are insane time limits to them. If you study, you should be fine, but this is def not a class to take lightly; you will need to study well. He does provide extra credit tho and is pretty communicative.
