His lectures are very animated, and interesting. He teaches american history the way it should be taught. He gives study guides for the tests and quizzes with all the info you need to get an A.... great all-around course!!!

His class is awesome. No homework to turn in, 12 scheduled quizzes, 2 midterms, 1 final, and all multi choice. Oh yeah, he hands out study guides for everything. Very passionate about history with a touch of humor.

I hated history before I took this class- I recommend it to everyone! He is very passionate about what he teaches, and his lectures are very interesting. As long as you go to class, its pretty easy to get an A in. Definately my favorite teacher!!!

Best teacher I have ever had. Made history interesting which I thought was impossible before I took Koeninger. All you have to do is go to class and do the study guides before mid terms. There are 6 quizzes that are all open note open book so you dont have to study! Everything is scantron!!

Best Teacher at Cuesta. Makes History fun!

Forget what the first person said, this guy is GREAT!! Yeah, he's in love with cats more than any guy should be but he's great. He gives you everything that's going to be on the tests and for the quizes(most of your pts) he lets you do open book. Always willing to help and so animated and full of energy. Made history at 7am actually fun. ROCKS!!

Professor Koeninger by far was and will always be my most memorable professor. Professor Koeninger managed to turn something I was not interested into somethinng I really enjoy. With his excitement and energy he lectures and one will find it challenging to keep up with notes. I enjoy impressing people with my knowledge of the Aztec's. Awesome

I have ALWAYS hated History! This was my favorite class ever! If you pay attention Dr. K's class is super easy. Best teacher I've ever had and I plan on taking all of his clases. I studied for about an hour and got 100% on the midterm. ALL Lecture, if you're prone to fall asleep in class, this is not the class for you. GREAT CLASS!!

I'm only a freshman, but Koeninger is the best professor I have ever had. He is funny and extremely bright. He lectures completely from memory and is so charismatic that it is quite easy to remember his lectures. When he has something important to say, he instructs us to draw cat faces by the point in our notes...he loves cats.

Your grades rely on open book quiz' and closed book exams. Note taking marathon. Very entertaining and fun.

Very passionate lectures make the material easy to remember. He somehow gets everyone to take tons of notes, but theyre not all that necessary in my experience. Tests are fairly easy, quizzes are open book.

Love this class! All open note/book quizzes. His lectures are insightful and to the point. The book will set you back a couple hundred dollars but it's worth it cuz you can use it on the quizzes. Best teacher i have had at cuesta so far and i plan on taking his other class next semester

I have taken Dr. K for 2 hisory classes I took Hist 233, and 212 and I plan on taking him for the third time yeah he lectures all the time, but he lets you out from class half an hour early all the time....I love his class and if you plan on transferring to UCSB he's the one you want to get along with!!!!! I love his classes

The subject was Mexican American history and it was one of the best history classes I have ever taken. I'm using my notes from this class and other sources to write a paper on the Aztecs. I'm at the University of Oregon now but the information and the cat faces still remain in my memory. Great teacher.

Very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Your grade depends on 11 15 multiple choice question quizzes (lowest one dropped) and 3 50 multiple choice question tests. Quizzes are open book and are based off of his book of poems. His tests are based off of his lectures and questions on another textbook. Very easy and informational class.

Most amazingly passionate and educated professor I have come across at Cuesta so far. I took his Mexican American history course and I was mezmorized by his lectures. He is hilarious and keeps you interested. Can't wait to take US History from him, I hear it's great too.

I took Prof. Koeninger back in 2000 at Santa Barbara City College and he was great. Very passionate, funny, and I recall the catfaces. Back then, it was the real way. Little computer use and you were engaged. Now it's too much about computers and kids wanting everything done for them. Helpful instructor and fair. You just have to give and try.

Passionate about what he teaches. Dr. K give a breath of fresh air to a period in history I usually don't care for. Equips you with study guides and all the information you need to know on what's on the test. Very note intensive, you won't have time to rest. I would take from him again.

He teaches clear and as long as you show up take notes do the homework youll get an easy A. hes really funny and likeable, all a more great reason to show up in the morning for class. dont forget to write down those cat faces though. those really do come in handy on tests

He is crazy, but so enthusiastic about history that you can't help but enjoy the class. He is obbsessed with cats, and tells your to put a cat face next to important information. It sounds weird but you don't forget his imporant facts.

drink a handful of red bull or a bunch of 5 hour energy shots...he has a lot to say and he says all of it super fast. notes are pretty intense and tiring but I promise you no one nods off to sleep---he's real good at keeping your attention. his class is full almost immediately and add students flow out the door. hes one of the best 4 sure

One of the coolest teachers. Had to drop out to due some circumstances. Missed the last 1.5 months but he still passed me. Tests are all open book. Lectures but he tells like a storybook so its interesting. P.S. he loves sports..especially basketball players..might wanna let him know if you play. If you're looking for a "breather" class, his is it.

Great speaker. You will not fall asleep during lecture because of his great oratory skills. Easy grade.. if you put in minimal time for homework and quiz studying. Tells you whats on tests by study guides. Highly recommended.

Probably one of my FAVORITE professors in the entire college! Everything (except for midterms/final) is open note. His lectures are so entertaining, I wish I can take him home so he can give his lectures as a bedtime story! You can bring a laptop if writing all period is too much for you. Bottom Line: Get this man for history if you have not!

Greatest teacher I've ever had. Extremely helpful, friendly, and absolutely loves cats. He wrote the textbook for the class and knows exactly what he's talking about. He's like Nicholas Cage from National Treasure. Even if you don't need the credits, it's highly recommended that you take a class with Dr. K just to see why he's such a great teacher!

Freaking amazing.

Attendance is very mandatory, he lectures on what is exactly on the midterms. He does his job very well and doesn't make the class any harder than what it has to be and you actually learn and retain it. He's also a really good role model for students, you can tell he's an all around good man.

He WAS my favorite teacher until I tried to sell my book back today. Paid $150 for the book, then he changes the color of it, called it a new edition, and is making new students by the "new" version so everyone is stuck with the old edition! Book is just text- very poorly written, and no pictures. Nothing by a money grubber!

Excellent teacher...but you have to buy a very expensive book that you can't re-sell. (He also changes the title of it every year or so when he adds some poems). It's an easy class, but the "book fiasco" was VERY frustrating.

By far the best instructor I've ever had in my life. There are tons of notes to be taken in lecture. If you don't understand ONE thing ask Dr. K and he'll be happy to assist you. And he does brag about his stuff, but hey he deserves it and he's usually joking. Take his class, he only wants to see you pass!

You have to take about a page and a half of notes every day unless its a quiz day which then its only half a page. There are a total of ten quizes and two term tests. Open note for the quizes which he gives you SGs for each quiz. Also SGs for tests but you cant use them. You should get 20/20 on quizes. His books are in the CC Store for like $40!

He is a passionate and very Charismatic in his teaching method. He captures his audience to the point that you want to hear more. It was a very inspiring class. I recommend it to everyone.

Dr. K is entertaining & if history is not your fav. I would recommend him because he is so animated. Personally, I dont like the over-the-top energy but thats just me. My only complaint is that he lets his personal opinion/religion/politics come into lecture. If you agree with him, you wont mind. As a person with diff. opinion i felt uncomfortable

Meow Dr. K is a great teacher. He helps when you have problems. He's got not one, but two B.A Dodge Ram pickups. Inserts his personal opinions meow and then. Cuesta Cougar cat-face next to this point. Meow I'm not a big history fan, but Docta K made it fun. If you're thinking of taking history with anyone, don't settle for less than The K. Meow.

Dr. K is the best teacher! He is super enthusiastic about history, his lectures are super entertaining, you never get bored. There are 10 quizzes, all open note and theres 3 tests, closed notes. he gives super great study guides, you only need to study that to pass the tests. He always let my class out 20 minutes early which is super nice. Awesome!

I took his class once a week, and although the class was long his lectures kept me interested and engaged. The quizzes are really easy, and the tests are too as long as you take good notes. I would recommend him!

Very Very good teacher. Lots of stories he has written his own published books must have all of them but one of the four books have study guides for all quizes, midterms, and finals. quizes are open book and as long as the study guides are done it will be a easy pass.

My #1 recommendation for his class is to bring a laptop! It makes it SO much easier to study when all you have to do is press CONTROL F and search for what you are looking for!!

Cat face by this point. What can I say that hasn't been said already? At first I was skeptical of Dr. K but after I got to know him I discovered how great of a guy he was. He is super energetic, extremely charismatic and ultra helpful. Bring a laptop, he lectures fast! And just know going in you will want to study a lot for the tests and quizzes.

I took this class during the summer. I was freaked out the first few days but then really got into his teaching style. He is amazingly animated,loves cats, and not afraid to be himself. Made taking History at 8a.m. during the summer totally worth it.

By far the most passionate teacher I have run into thus far. Does a great job of interpreting the material in a way that you can understand. The textbooks are a little pricey, but you use them to fill out the VERY EASY study guides for the quizzes. The Midterms/Exams are relevant to what you learned and if you show up to class and take notes, A+.

Dr. K is a really great teacher, but your grade in the class is only based off of tests and quizzes. Nothing else. Also, he is pretty conservative and religious, not that these are bad qualities, but it can get kind of old if it's not your thing.

Funny teacher and makes history bearable at 8am. He's passionate & it gets you excited about the subject. He keeps things interesting but warning his textbooks are VERY expensive (he writes them) and they switch every few years so they're hard to buy & re-sell used. I have taken every single class that this teacher offers and I loved every single class and would take them all again in a heartbeat. He cuts the work out for you. You only need to listen to him and you will do good. Record his lectures. You can go back and listen to them again and again and not get bored. Best teacher I've ever had.

The amount of memorization needed to get a decent score on a quiz or midterm is ridiculous. He'll give you sixteen questions to memorize (with numerous questions embedded within) and gives you a week to know them inside and out. If this is the only class you're going to take and you don't have a job, go for it.

Dr. K KILLED IT. I couldn't have asked for a better professor. He was very up front with me and I took his advice seriously because he is definitely someone who knows what he's talking about. I just wish my other professors were as good as he was because his class was the only one I actually looked forward to this past semester.

Dr K. Is AMAZING. His lectures are great and you can tell he truly loves what he does. I did find this class to be hard though. You never get homework and your grade is based on quizzes and exams. Scantron portion of the test was never hard for me, just the short essays based off lectures, you have one every test. I would definitely recommend him!

Quite possibly the ONLY Constitutional history teacher that doesn't teach out of McGraw-Hill. Classes are based on lecture, not BS like Weber. His lectures are intense as they include: yelling (for perspective), photographs (of cats), and knowledge that shall sink into your mind until the end of time. 10/10 would take again

Very passionate lectures, however, his personal views are dictated at least 2-3 times per class. Although he doesn't take roll, attend class or you will not pass. Not all test material is from lectures, so reading is required. I showed up everyday and took notes, passed with an A. Dr. K is very big about "why" on his quizzes and tests.

He love to lectures, but you take notes while he is talking. He does not have many PowerPoints, and if he does they are mainly about his cats that he adores. I recommend to recorded his lectures to make sure you haven't missed anything for your notes because your notes are the study guides for your midterm and final. Make sure you make time to read

Dr K is a good teacher and a nice person but beware Democrats as he is an avid Trump supporter. I still really enjoyed his class even though I don't agree with him on much. He makes his lectures entertaining and THERE IS NO HW. Do not waste your time buying the textbook or even the course packet. Easy A as long as you study for essay tests.

Dr. K is the best of the best! I took his 207A and 207B history classes and i got an A both times! He is an awesome lecturer and really cares about his students. He is super funny and you can tell he loves what he does!

Breath of fresh air. Finally, a history professor w/o a liberal agenda. Gives his class all sides of history, not just the what but also the why. Delivers 110% every lecture. Very Animated and theatrical. Took this class @ 8am in the summer, never a dull moment. Every quiz, both midterms and final are essay. Be prepared to take hardcore notes.

Best teacher I've ever had. More enthusiastic than every past teacher combined, absolutely loves his job which makes us students lives much easier.

Dr. K, is one of the most amazing teachers I have ever had. He is extremely passionate and entheusiastic about history. He is loud and funny. You literally come in, sit and talks and tells you what cat faces which are his key markers to place where in your note taking. His quizzes are open note and book. He gives guides and his midterms are easy!

Really, if you take anyone else but Dr. K it will be the biggest mistake of your life. I never thought I would enjoy history but here I am easily passing with an A and showing up to all his lectures. He talks really fast but I believe he's switching to fully online. So sorry you won't experience him.

Best history teacher ever! Took his 207A class if you are reading this 207B is his last lecture class ever after over 3 decades of teaching phasing to online!!!! Take his class you will not regret it. If you are a good student and come to class and pay attention you will be fine. I have had such good grades on everything in his class!! LOVE DR K!!!

Koeninger is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. There's a lot of notes but you'll definitely learn a lot. His study guides are great and the tests are open note. Best history professor I've ever had!

Dr. K was amazing! His lectures are fantastic and lively. He gave study guides, had office hours, and was amazing overall. Personally, I never studied a whole lot but I have a photographic memory, and his lectures stuck with me. If you don't have a great memory, then set aside time to study and you'll be fine.

A quality history teacher who cares about the subject, teaches all sides of the subject at hand and doesn't push his liberal and political agenda on us like most other teachers here. Says what's on his is mind/how he feels and is a genuine person. He is truly a breath of fresh air and really makes his lectures exciting. Good teacher. Good person.

Coming from someone who has always hated History - I loved this class! Never thought I would say that about History. He teaches an unbiased view of everything that actually happened. Yes there is a lot of reading, do the study guides and practice questions and you will get an A. Also he loves cats so thats a huge plus ;)

Dr. K cares so much about students and is extremely passionate. His lectures are so lively and loud! For a subject that can be very dull, he makes it so interesting! Gifted professor for sure. Easy A, he gives you everything you need to pass.

I took his online class and it is so easy! He gives you study guides for everything so as long as you fill them out you can look at them during the test/quiz and get an easy A. You do actually have to do the work but he definitely sets you up for success.

I took his summer class and it was awesome! He gave you absolutely everything you needed to pass. He sent funny emails each week and had interesting lectures. I would recommend taking his class if you can! My only regret is not taking his class in person. You're missing out if you don't! He seems like such a cool guy and loves cats. So adorable!

Dr. Koeninger really loves history and cares about his students. Much thought and time were put into the materials made History interesting, easy and fun to learn. In is online class he provides practice tests so there is no guessing as to what is expected. I have already signed up for 207A next semester and HIGHLY recommend him!

Wonderful Professor. Reading heavy, but provides study guides that if completed, will ensure you pass all of his exams.

I took this as a high school student and I can definitely say it was the best choice, there is quite a bit of reading but it is a college class. He starts you off with 25 bonus points which helps out so much as you go through the course. He does have a weekly post, it is not mandatory but it's suggested. He even includes podcasts of the lectures.

I liked his 207A class so much I also took the 207B class too...I am an art major. One of the best professors I have ever had in any subject. Passionate about history, and his lectures are a blast. What he expects from you is crystal clear, and there are study guides for every exam. Really enjoyed his classes!

Very passionate about History. So much so that he get's dramatic and can storm out of class if he doesn't get a quick enough response from the class. He threw his remote several times when I took him and then he just left without any explanation. Otherwise he does bring the history to life. He also loves pronouncing spanish words.

Anthony Koeninger is a gem of a professor. I took his online 207A History Course and the amount of effort he puts into the course is astounding. The weekly short essay topics are interesting, and the quizzes are pretty easy if you use the study guide. 10/10, would suggest this course.

This is the best history class I have ever taken! His lectures, study guide, and exams all match up and are straightforward. As long as you stay consistent with discussions and study guides you will pass this class with an easy A. He has great feedback and regularly praises us for good discussions. It's a lot of reading, but that is expected.

I had him in an online class and he stayed in contact with us, always gave very great feedback, and would send out reminders for due dates. Fast grader. He posted audio versions of his lectures and a ton of helpful links. He made very helpful study guides. Its obvious that he really cares about his students learning. He has very cute cats also.

I took history 207A and 207B from Koeninger. I would def recommend him to anyone. Yes you will have to read but his history is not like high school! I've learned many things I didn't know about. I got A in both classes. Do the study guide and you should be able to pass with flying colors. I'ts not a hard class just put in the work and youl be fine

BEST online class. Always do worksheets (couple questions each week) and chapter lecture and you will pass. I never read the long chapters of open stax textbook but I still got A. Quizzes are just questions from worksheets. Same with tests. He doesn't grade hard but he won't accept late work. Only one paper for final that's 1,200 words.

I took Koeninger for History 207B online over the summer. Overall a solid professor. Very formal feel, even on my online class. His grading criteria was super clear though, and that was the best part. He gave lots of time on quizzes and tests so they weren't too hard. I would recommend.

Pretty good and easy. I took both US Hist a and b, and they were both the same. You read the textbook and lectures, write about a subject, and take a quiz. Reading is simple, writing is fine with the lecture, and quizzes are easy with the study guides.

Good class to take. Lots of discussions, homework, and tests are heavy. He bases the tests and quizzes from his study guide. DO the study guide and worksheets!

I took HIST 207A & B with him. It was a part of U.S. History DE, which takes the place of AP U.S. History, I took it at Nipomo High School, although it is also offered at Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, & Paso Robles. Getting an A is 100% possible. Just do the forum posts, reading, study guides, and quizzes and exams are also open book and note.

Dr. Koeninger is a straightforward, helpful teacher. He lays out his expectations very clearly and his online course is extremely organized. Do the weekly worksheets and complete the study guides as they are so helpful for the exams. Give thoughtful and thorough discussion posts that follow his prompts and read the instructions carefully.

Dr. Koeninger made the class really easy to navigate online. Took the class over the summer so maybe a few things are different for fall/spring semesters, but there was a reading quiz and a discussion forum every week and they were fairly easy. 3 midterms as well, questions come right off the weekly worksheet and study guides. Would recommend him!

Very good teacher who loves history. The daily forums are really easy if you take the time to read the short lectures. Roleplaying as someone in history was something no other teacher does and was also joyous to write. The quizzes and tests are also pretty easy.

The online 207A was fairly straightforward. He gave weekly worksheets, with specific page numbers for each question (not required to turn in). For tests, you can use printed or written notes/materials. His class can be initially foreboding, but his eccentricities made the class interesting and the material memorable. Book is $30.

This class has a lot of reading. The worksheets (optional) but a good resource to use on tests. The test was very average I usually got a 7 or 8/10. Open book and notes test but has a time limit and some are proctored. 14 assignments total 6/14 are discussion (no late/make ups only quizzes) rest are quizzes/midterms/exams so do all your assignments
