This was a difficult class but the teacher was thorough and helpful. Is fair and genuinly wants students to do well.

I have him currently as my anatomy teacher and I think he's great! If you had Jeff Lace and liked his teaching style then this is like round 2 lol. He's easy to understand and his notes correlate thoroughly with the tests he gives. Oh and no short answers just multiple choice and true false! Always nice!
Not only is Dr. Lamanna ez on the eyes, he is funny and breaks for stories that apply to the topic. He is interested in your comprehension of the material and will discuss you're personal questions if you want. I loved his class and think his style is perfect if your worried about "getting it"! He's awesome!
I took this class during the summer session. Very difficult to do in 5 weeks - way too much info too quickly. It would have been managable during a regular 16-week semester. So just a word of warning there. I didn't like that he didn't offer extra credit and all the points came just from the exams.
I had Dr. Lamanna for both 201 and 202. I thought he was a great teacher. He tells a lot of stories, but that breaks up the monotony of what could be dull subject matter. He's very helpful. Show respect for him, he'll show the same to you.
I have to say this has been one of my favorite classes. He makes the class very fun and entertaining. Don't be afraid of being bored in his class, he definitely makes it fun. The only homework we've had is easy lab homework which gives you time to study for his tests and the tests are easy if you study.
I had him for BIO201 and 202. In 201 he came off as more cocky and anxious. For 202 I think he had learned a lot from student comments and was AWESOME! He really does want his students to succeed. Show him that you are a serious student and he will make sure you succeed!
Awesome
Dr. Lamanna is a great teacher. He does joke a lot but that's what makes the class enjoyable and memorable. he gives us a lot of object lessons to help us remember things and how they apply to us. He makes sure to answer any questions even if he has to do his own research on it, i think that makes for a very dedicated teacher.
Dr. Lamanna takes the important information from the text and puts it into PowerPoint slides for his lectures and study material. It is a ton of information, but he inserts his humor and has a great deal of relevant life experience to apply what he teaches to real life situations. Glad I was able to grab a seat for 202 with him next semester too!
A very educated teacher. (especially about natural/holistic supplements, etc.) He makes lots of jokes and goes off topic sometimes, but it always help to grasp a concept in a way. He is very friendly and if he doesn't know the answer to a question, he will research it. Definitely have to put your hours to study a lot or else the tests won't be easy
Don't buy the textbook. Lamanna pulls out all relevant info from this graduate level text and packs it perfectly into power point notes which is where ALL test questions are generated. There is still a lot of information but its all given to you. His tests are multiple choice with no tricks. Anyone who did not get a A in this class didn't try.
He is a good teacher but he only has 4 lecture exams and 3 lab tests so a lot of material is piled into one exam which makes it tough. I still got an A but had to study constantly. Never read the book once and only studied his power points.
Dr. Lamanna is my absolute favorite professor! He isn't the easiest BIO 202 professor at PVCC, but he is the best. He makes lectures entertaining and always answers questions. I wish every professor I had was like him! If I were staying at PVCC, I would take Nutrition with him too, since I heard he will begin teaching it this fall as well.
Dr. Lamanna is an excellent professor. He really knows his subject and has many interesting stories that aren't only enlightening, but help clarify concepts in the class. He is very helpful and willing to answer questions. If you try hard, you will be rewarded with a good grade. I love his class!!
Dr. Lamanna is a fantastic teacher! If you attend lecture he goes over everything that is on his exams and gives you some of the test questions too. Lamanna is not a "tricky" teacher, he really does lay out the information for you. He is not the best lab professor though. His lab is not very guided or helpful. I won't take anyone else.
I was very happy with this teacher. I thought he was fair until it came to the extra credit points - but their extra so I didn't complain as to not take away the chance of someone getting one. I didn't have the best first impression of him but in the end I thought he taught me well a difficult subject.
Dr. Lamanna is an outstanding instructor. He geniunely cares about his student's success.. He drowns you in information, but it is interesting! He is so knowledgable that he will research information you are interested in if you ask him. Great professor! Highly recommended
He knows his stuff. Dr. Lamana is interested in the topic and makes students interested, too. He does a good job of making things clear. I learned a lot and enjoyed doing it.
The material is hard, but this professor makes it very interesting with his numerous stories that help people relate. He makes the class fun and has a great sense of humor. Highly recommended for BIO201 and 202. One of my favorite professors I've had!
There is alot of material that is covered in this course but Lamanna clearly wants everyone to succeed and will help if needed. Everything is given in powerpoint notes and is easy to understand if you study. As a sidenote he is also EXTREMELY attractive, so it makes coming to class just a breeze:)
He is a great teacher. He actually knows what he is talking about and helps you UNDERSTAND the concepts, not just memorize them. Tests are from the PPT and you have to put effort forth to get a good grade. You will actually walk away with some knowledge of the subject though, guaranteed.
Great teacher. Don't skip class and look over all your notes after each each of his lectures, and you'll do well. Great clarification. It's a lot of work but he makes it more enjoyable to learn.
great
Tests are from power point. I read the chapters to help understand the endless bullet points to memorize. Have to basically memorize all pp slides to do well on test.
He's a good teacher, but very strict and likes it his way or the highway, don't argue with him, because he won't ever agree with you. He gives study guides for tests and has online quizzes, The final is accumulative and theirs one final project which is a diet analysis which is time consuming.
This class is Tough. There are no study guides for tests so do not expect it. No review either. You need to study every single slide to pass a test. The tricky part is that his test questions are worded much more differently than what you see on your slides.
Dr. Lamana is a good teacher and does care about his students. Memorize the power points. Do well on lab tests so you can earn more points. It is a very hard class and it does require quite a bit of studying. Dr. Lamana sets up quizzes and other ways of getting points so If you tank a test you can still pass the class.
Dr. Lamanna is a great teacher. You can tell he is very knowledgeable about the subject. This class is hard, no surprise there, if you FULLY and COMPLETELY understand the material you will have no problems on the test. But the test questions are worded differently than the slides presentations, and there are no study guides.
Of course this class is hard! It's a class for healthcare and premed, so what do people expect? There were a few whiners in my class who will not be in medicine, but overall I thought the class was very good. He prepares you and teaches to adults, which was very appreciated as I'm an older student.
Has a Napoleon complex and makes you feel like your back in high school. Super strict on your body positioning during lab tests and don't even bother saying a word while he's talking or he'll threaten to give the whole class a 0. Study well for tests and you'll do good. For me it was his personality that made this class completely unenjoyable.
Dr. Lamanna is a great professor. His class was not hard for me because I love anatomy and physiology. If life sciences are not your stronger side than you should not pursue carrier in it. I bet you would allow to be treated by a doctor, PA or a nurse that does not understand anatomy.
Dr.Lamanna is one of the best teachers. Lecture tests are very hard but he does everything in his power to help any students that are struggling with the class. You don't need a book only his power points. Labs are extremely clear and you can get easy A if you study, and makes up for the lecture exams if you did not do so good.
Nice person, but the class is difficult than it should be to be honest... there is only 4 lecture exams that is worded differently from the power points. there is no study guide or review. The class is extremely difficult. Very strict
He knows his stuff..maybe too much though. He seems to act like we already know this and his tests are NOT easy. He has online quizzes which it is really easy to forget and take. They are due at 10:59..wouldnt it make sense to have them due at midnight for people like me who work late. I do not recommend it, unless you are specifically need it.
If you want to be treated like a teenager in military school, take this class. Dude, I know we're young, but we're not in preschool. He is obsessed with cheating - assumes everyone is a cheater. I think someone else said this but he makes you sit a certain way when you take tests to make sure you don't cheat.
He reads 300 pp's per exam in class & gives mult. choice tests with choose all that apply, all of the above, none of the above, just a & b. etc. Must memorize every detail of every slide. Final is cumulative and pretty much have to know everything on every pp. He's a control freak. Worst professor ever. Avoid taking his nutrition & anatomy classes.
Thought he was an awesome teacher! Extremely knowledgeable with the material. Gives hints to whats on the test, and possibly future answers to the test. Study all the powerpoint slides and you'll be golden. I never had to study, I just enjoyed the way he thought and understood the material. Never read the book, just slides and got an A. Great guy!
Not sure about the person who just sat in class and never studied-only possible with a photographic memory. For most, you will have to spend time memorizing the entirety of all 300/exam. He just reads them all during class. Not required to use the book, but it definitely helps clarify the material. Prof is very controlling. HORRIBLE class.
Terrible class. If you are good at lots of memorization its not that hard, but not an enjoyable class. Lamanna is too controlling and spends classtime reading slides provided by the book's publisher. He banned use of electronics for taking notes and recorders had to be put on the front desk.
Awesome teacher, extremely knowledgeable with the material. If you are good at memorizing slides you'll be golden. Just pay attention to his hints, ask questions, and study slides and you'll be fine!
Very approachable/kind teacher. Material is a bit difficult, but he wants his students to succeed so he is available for outside help. For those students complaining that they had to memorize everything...you must not be paying attention in class or comprehending the material. If you did you wouldnt have to memorize slides, just saying.
Awesome teacher. Very clear, always helpful. His tests are hard, but if you study, you will do fine. He is very funny and gives extra credit points all the time.
He knows what he is teaching and teaches it clearly and precisely. He is really nice and always there if you need help or have a question. I chose to take him for 202 even thought I learned how hard of a teacher he was in 241 just because I knew he actually knows and cares about the stuff being taught. Great teacher.
I used a student's power points from a year ago, had us deletechg same slides as then & moves fwd or bkwd during lecture, making confusing, disorganized. Why not take time to fix before expense to copy-no book ($127 for lab & lec) & focus on important areas instead of so much to cover, doesn't want questions. Not passionate about BIO but nice guy.
Awesome teacher! If you study even a little bit this class is easy. He always gives extra credit and he's hilarious. Great class! It really prepares you for higher level classes.
Dr. Lamanna is really into this subject. It goes hand in hand with his passion for fitness. Sometimes his opinions seem a bit off, particularly since he's talking to a group of students that probably don't know any different. Multiple choice tests, mark all that applyall or none, does not let you see results unless you go to office.
Dr. Lamanna is the best teacher I've ever had! I took BIO 202 & FON 241 w him and he was clear w what he expected from you. If you study his power points you will pass. I learned so much from his classes they prepared me for higher level courses. These classes aren't easy & grades are just handed out; work for it. Wish I could take him again!
Great professor. Would recommend anyone that is needing to take BIO 202 to take him. Didn't open my textbook once, every thing that is on his power points and discussed in class is what is on the test and quizzes.
He tells alot of stories that help comprehend how the body works, it was really beneficial to record his lectures for the exams. Very funny and cares about his students
He's really good at explaining processes. He's good in lecture he high points what you need to know. And be ready to study a lot . He's really funny too. Just take this class very seriously. If you don't you'll do poorly. I'm still in it doing well.
During lectures he explains things as if we already knew the material, and goes way too fast when he uses power points. Always talking about his suppose ex girlfriends that he had which have NOTHING to do with the class. Tries to be funny when he really isn't. On final day he came in late and with the worst attitude ever!
He is not that organized when lecturing, he jumps around a lot, which I hate. I'm an A student and this class was extremely difficult, especially since he gives no study guide, which is fine, but he's not clear when he lectures. He's really full of himself and always picking on girls he likes to answer Q's. Not helpful and gives inaccurate info.
What's not to say that has not already been said. He teaches this course as if you were in med school! Huge amount of material and does not hone in on topics, states you must know it all! Exams are brutal with multi-faceted, mark all that apply questions that you are guaranteed to get wrong, esp the way he words them! Lectures are confusing!
I loved taking A&P with Dr Lamanna. He was one of the best professors I've had. There is a LOT of material - it's a difficult class in general, but he gives you the power points he uses, and the tests are based on those powerpoints. If you study and put in your part, you should pass his class. He offers help when you need it and is a good guy.
Lectures are based off of slides. He gives you plenty of opportunity to see him outside of class. Tests are all based off his slides. Study them and pay attention in class and you'll do fine. I'm sure the only people who have anything bad to say are the people who don't show up or don't bother studying. Definitely wasn't disappointed.
Dr. Lamanna is an expert in anatomy and physiology, and I would finitely recommend him. The class itself is very hard, but he gives you everything you need to do well. Almost everything comes from his slides so study them thoroughly and you will do well. He's awesome!
Although Bio 201 is just a difficult class itself, Dr. Lamanna does his absolute best to ensure that students understand the criteria. All of the lecture exam questions are based on his powerpoint notes. I don't use a textbook for the course and have an A in it. Just be sure to put in the time and effort and you'll do good!
Dr. Lamanna is an amazing professor! I would definitely recommend taking him for Anatomy (BIO202). Of course, the class is not easy, but if you care about learning the material you will get a LOT out of the course. He makes the material interesting and explains complicated concepts in ways that are easy to understand.
Dr. Lamanna is fair, fun and focused. He is very knowledgeable about the material presentrd and offers plenty of opportunities to earn an A. Just be sure to print out ALL of the Power Point slides prior to class and you will be golden. I am looking forward to taking BIO202 with him in the spring! :-)
Lamanna was kinda like Folgers... he was easily the best part of waking up. (Yeah, I said it!) Honestly, if you can focus on anything other than the fact that he is absolutely gorgeous... You might learn something in his class! He's extremely knowledgeable and very well respected within the collegiate community. He is easy to work with & funny.
Never used the textbook, a lot of powerpoint information, a lot of studying required. Dont slack off, once you get behind its hard to catch up
Lamana was a horrible teacher. He just read off of the powerpoints and would never go into detail about questions. The exams were nothing we learned. He made labs horrible as well. He was not a good professor and I would NOT recommend him to anyone
Took for BIO202 lab. Super fun and engaging. Tough material, but comes with the territory. Dont miss the quizzes on canvas!!!
oh LAMANANANA. I have nothing but good things to say about this man! He made Bio 201 so fun. Having a professor that can be well respected but also have a sense of humor is a hard thing to find. He's smart, funny, kind, and not too bad on the eyes! ;) Ladies! haha XD Definitely have to work for your grade. Everything is in your powerpoint slides.
Lamanna talks about himself- 1st of all, he's earned the right to.... given his knowledge in human nutrition and the human body... he's clearly doing something right... secondly, he talked about his ex wife - once.. as an example.. because it corresponded to the subject. thirdly- science is straight forward... there is no going further into detail.
Very knowledgeable professor that gives great lectures and notes. Labs were also very informative and a great experience.
Some people in my class disliked him, but honestly, if you suck it up and do your part it isn't that bad, its the information that is hard, not his teaching. the worst thing is that there are no study guides ever. He says his slides are the study guide but there are 100s of slides. Biology is hard, this class is hard, college is hard.
Lamanna was hands down one of the best science teachers I've ever had. Everything you learn & absorb will be based off the amount of time spent studying his slides. Treat him with respect and he'll treat you equally if not more respect.
Tony is a great lecturer and I would recommend taking him! However, just know he does not make it easy on his students. He wants you to succeed, but the way he sets up his class forces students to study A LOT. He does provide quizzes and labs which will help your grade a bit. Be prepared to make lots of time to study! Making friends helps too.
He is an awful professor expects you to memorize all of his slides for the exam he needs a better way of giving study guides instead of having students memorize the slides for each chapter
Bio201 is a tough class, but I thought Lamanna was great! He's funny and has a way of relating things to real life so you will remember it. Yes you have to study alot but as long as you put in the work at home you will do great! Pay attention in class and you will do fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions he will do his best to help you understand!
Professor Anthony is wonderful. He explains everything and doesnt mind answering questions. He gives extra credit. He is funny. He is really knowledgeable. I got a really high grade in his class because I was willing to put the effort. He test directly from the material in his power points. In his class you earn the grade you work for.
Dr. Lamanna is an awesome and very knowledgeable professor! He is funny and cares about his students. I would definitely recommend taking his bio 201&202! The classes are hard but he gives all the materials you need to know for the exams and he explains things very good to succeed in class. Study the power points and your notes and will be fine!
I think he is a great teacher. Highlight or bold what he says as he lectures from the power slides. If you study hard you will do well. He is corny in a good way and uses it to explain theories and processes. I really like when teachers break down a concept to make it easier to understand and he is exceptional at that. His tests hard but fair.
Tests are based off his powerpoints which he goes over in class with detail and some funny extra stories to help relate the material to. No text book was needed even though indicated one was required. I personally found it easy to do well with studying the powerpoints and extra notes taken as well as recording and re-listening to the lecture.
I wish he taught all my classes, honestly. He made it very easy to learn biology. He's very specific about what you should know and study for the class lecture exams. Not tricky to pass this class as long as you study. His classes are also very intriguing he is very knowledgeable so you'll get extra interesting facts. He also teaches weightliftin
If you are able to teach yourself you'll be fine if not dont take him. Lectures move way too fast retained 0 info from his lectures. Had to teach myself by reading the whole textbook. Yes he was available for office hours but they were pointless. Quizzes and tests felt like nothing came from his 100 page lectures random things you had to know AWFUL
Dr. Lamanna is a great professor. He gives many tools to use that help with studying for his lab and lecture exams (more than any professor I have ever had) and is very accessible in and out of class. He gives great information and knows what hes talking about. This class is hard work but if you put the effort in youll do fine.
I agree with all of the negative comments.. but I also think he's an ok teacher and I liked the class
Professor Lamanna is a good professor. He is very clear on grading. He will answer any questions that you have. He gives a lot of resources so you can succeed. Taking him next semester.
Feedback - Dr L, I wish you would revise your lecture videos, and maybe have an illustration and use a cursor or your videos so we have a visual of what the heck you're talking about. All the negative reviews probably shows up for class without studying at home. Lectures have mark all that apply that are MASSIVE; Lab is verbatim from his YT vids.
Dr. lamannas class will be very enjoyable. I advise you go through the power-points and make notes prior to classes, that way when you show up its a refresh and an opportunity to ask questions for clarification. Be ready to put in A LOT of work. Ask questions or go to his office if you need more in depth explanation. Interesting/exciting class. (:
In my opinion, he is one of the best instructors in terms of lecturing, but his exams are tough, and your grade is based primarily on your performance on these exams.
His class is doable but it is a lot of work. He doesn't give study guides but it helps to make your own from his slides. There's not a lot of hw so your grade is pretty much based on exams. Memorize the info and you'll be fine. Study ahead for lab exams too and the class won't be bad
Loved Professor Lamana, his class is very lecture heavy. Don't bother buying the $200 textbook he gives 100+ slides for every chapter that you can view at home which is the only information on his tests. Spend about 2-3 days in advance studying for exams if you want to pass. Lab exam 1 and 2 are tough but the 3rd was pretty easy, watch his videos.
He's a really good teacher to have for 201. Watch his videos for his Labs !! All of his questions are from there. He helps you understand the material and has some funny/interesting stories to go with it. Attend Class !! Extra Credit Opportunities. This class has a ton of material already but he makes himself available to help you succeed.
I took him for 201 and for hybrid 202. Need to have the discipline to go over the lectures yourself. He does make time in Lab to go over the important info but will be fast paced. Ask questions during the exam review days. Lecture exams- 4. Lab exams- 4. First Lab exam was the most challenging but after it's not too terrible. Study the videos !!
He reads straight from powerpoint and goes a little fast, but if you study the powerpoint, you will get good test scores.
Took his hybrid 202 class and immediately felt discouraged by how he speeds through lecture and rushes the entire class to only turn around and call out the entire class after bombing our first exam. The syllabus says there are tutors available (there's not) and he offers no study guide or information besides his "instagram videos"
Dr. Lamanna is a brilliant instructor! Biology is a subject where you must look over the material of the lecture before the lecture, or you will be entirely lost! Dr. Lamanna is full of fun facts and makes the lectures and labs interesting. He is a tough grader however, especially with lab tests. He will make time for you, you get what you put in!
What can i say about Anthony Lamanana that hasn't already been said! He puts the ass in assnatomy. He is a hunk and half! i wish i could talk the glass through a magnifying glass so i could stare at his beautiful pores. i wish the stars were dimmer so i could see him in a more bright light. he's a fine teacher. C-
I've taken both A&P 1 and 2 with professor Lamanna and he is best teacher I've ever had at PVCC. He is clear on the expectations for exams. Throughout lectures he tells you things you need to remember for the exams which makes studying easier. His lectures are material heavy but always comes up with goofy examples to really help the material stick.
202 is tougher than 201, but it's doable. Make sure to study and memorize his lecture slides and for lab exams watch his videos!!! For lab exams I used the website Purpose Games and it helped so much I got an A every time. Put in the work and you will see the results. This is not a class you can BS thru, but study hard & you might enjoy it
Love that he provided the lab manual and that's only book you need. Make sure you take notes on the power points because he will take stuff out and add things in. Overall great teacher but you get what you put in. BIO202 is not an easy course and you have to earn your grade
