He's pretty good. His class is interesting and his lectures are not boring. The guy is pretty chill and calm, and he's really into it, so it's important to pay attention and follow his instructions, which are clear. He's also strict about deadlines. I loved this class and he's cool, but I'd say don't snooze and be sure to pay attention to detail.
He's easy to get along with. Has power point notes...makes the class interesting..there are 5 tests, 2 projects and extra credit..pay attention and you will do well!!
Gives out study guides for each unit which are very helpful. Uses Powerpoint with his lectures to emphasize items that you will be tested on. Very kind and easy to talk to.
This class is super easy and this instructor was awesome. He was very helpful and explained everything.
Easy but demanding class, there were 6 quizzes and discussion posts. The posts have to be 2 paragraphs and contain certain points, not bad tho. 750-1000 word essay on a museum you visit, which was very easy. Then a Reflection project that wasn't really hard, just time consuming. Whenever I had questions, he answered them timely and thoroughly.
THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE HAD AT SPC. He is hilarious and helpful. The topics that have to be covered aren't all that interesting but he makes it clear to understand and easy as well. His two major essays are easy and I enjoyed writing them. 5 quizzes, some in class discussions, 5 in class essay exams, and two 750 word minimum papers.
I saw a negative review on here and think someone took advantage of a lack of attendance policy. I liked Mr. Laporte so much, I'll be taking his online class next semester for another course. I will say that even though he has no attendance policy, you should go to class, this is very dense material, but he makes it interesting and knows his stuff
An average teacher for an online class. There is a lot of material to cover and a minimum of 950 words to write each of 5 modules. Very little guidance was given for the writings, but don't forget to add a citation AND respond to a classmate or your grade will drop to a 60%. I wouldn't take a course taught by him if I had a choice again.
HE IS THE BEST! I took his online class and it was wonderful. he provides awesome feedback for all submitted work and explains what you need to work on. I took 3 online classes and his is the only one I passed. This class is very interesting and if you do what is assigned you can pass his class. No late work is accepted though!
This class was AWESOME! He is a great teacher. All homework and quizzes are feasible as long as you read the book. He provides excellent feedback and responds to emails in a timely matter. He is also very helpful. Best online class I have ever taken. This class is also very interesting. Please be sure to use your book!
Great class, a lot to work on, every week posts and quizzes and a paper. Keep on track and you will be fine. Two chances quizzes 30 mins each 20 questions.
If you can't handle a lot of work at once then this class is not for you. Online Analysis were assigned every chapter which he grades pretty tough and we had quizzes along with every chapter which were based on about 6 different articles all at once. Attendance is mandatory, he gives points to those who attend and if you miss its a automatic 0%!
Such a funny, smart, and all around awesome guy! One of the best professors that I have had yet. His instruction is clear, assignments are graded quickly, and he has such a clear understanding of the course material. He puts his own spin on things he doesn't just read out of a text book. If you come to class to be a body in a chair he will know it
AMAZING PROFESSOR !! I absolutely loved his class, its not mandatory to go to his classes and he makes that clear, but its highly recommended ! He gives out hints on whats on the next exam during the lectures. He doesn't have a monotone, thank god. He keeps his class interesting. He is completely fair with everyone ! Highly recommend ! (:
his quizzes are extremely hard but the tests are easy if pay attention in class and he makes the class enjoyable heavily recommend him id take any class of his again
Great teacher with lots of enthusiasm about the subject! He keeps the class interesting and is extremely clear about what the assignments are. Your would basically have to be an extremely lazy person to not get an A in his class. Highly recommend!
Mr. Laporte was one of my most amazing teachers. He is very understanding with everyone is willing to work with you whenever it is needed. His lectures are awesome because he doesn't act like a normal professor. He jokes and keeps the lecture interesting to where you want to learn the material. Assignments were a breeze! Definitely would take again
I have taken this course in the post angel era. Irreleavent, I think Mr. LaPorte was probably as good prior. If you are a full time employee, you should definitely take his course. He provides adequate time for you to complete the assignments, however, you must meet minimum requirements. MLA format is a must. Make sure you cite, and cite properly.
I figured humanities was one of those classes you had to try to fail, and I was right with this professor. Very interesting, pretty funny and pretty easy to talk to and get along with. I highly recommend this professor if you can get him. Note though, wanna use your laptop? get to class early and sit in front and make sure it is CHARGED!
Mr Laporte is by far the best teacher I have ever taken. He goes over exactly what is on our in-class tests, which are super easy in the first place. The online test you have 2 chances to take. His lectures are fun, attendance is not mandatory but if you don't show up you'll miss out on crucial notes. I would take him any chance I get.
I took mr. Laporte both online and in class. I would forsure recommend taking him face to face. His class is so much less work than online. Both classes are very easy but I preferred him in person, online it's really like we don't even have a teacher. The lessons are so boring and it is doing the exact same thing over and over again.
Great class. Not to hard to pass as long as you show up for the group discussions. Taking him again next semester.
Easy, fun and only 2 tests.
There is one main essay that you have to complete (no big deal). Although, he is not fair with grading it. He said that i did not follow directions completely and therefore I recieved a zero. I tried talking to him about it but he replied with sarcastic answers.
3 tests. No midterm or final. tests are on the material from weeks 1-6, 8-11, 12-14. class(group) discussions roughly every 2 weeks (5 total). Must be present on discussion day or no credit (no alternative assignment) very funny and explains everything exactly how he wants. one Essay but easy grader. 6 reading quizzes on MyCourses (at home).
He is an awesome teacher with a great personality! He's super funny and makes his lectures interesting. He is always willing to help his students and I looked forward to his class every day.
Fantastic, energetic professor. Really smart, knows the material. Classes were never boring, he's great at engaging students. Tests are all long-form, in-class essay questions; it's your job to synthesize everything you're given during the semester. Communicates the schedule well in advance, and the grading criteria is very generous.
Easy A and a super cool guy
Anthony Laporte is honestly an amazing teacher, I really enjoyed his class. There is no homework for this class except a quiz when you start a new module. There is a test after each module, but the test is written which is actually kinda helpful.
Anthony Laporte is an awesome professor - one of my favorites. His lectures are clear and detailed, his quizzes are open book, and his tests are super easy - 4 written questions. He also gives a huge extra credit assignment to replace a grade. I would take him again if I hadn't already met the humanities requirement
Absolutely loved this professor! So funny, easy going, and over all very genuine! He's very good at teaching and a nice grader. His lectures are funny, but prepare to work in groups with random people every so often. Will always be a favorite professor of mine.
I LOVED Professor Laporte! He is very knowledgeable about the humanities, he is a fair grader, he treats you with respect and really interacts well with the students. You seriously will not regret the time you spend in his class, and you will leave with more knowledge than you came with. 10/10
Loved him! Would totally take any of his classes again! I did online and it was the best experience!
This guy is awesome. In all respects this is what you want from a Professor. Not only was he able to keep everything interesting, he actually develops and nurtures interests you may not have even known about. I really cant say enough about this guy. Just an awesome Professor.
Anthony Laporte is a great teacher. I took online HUM2270 and was a great class, learned a lot. Easy A, but you have to follow the instructions. He defines them clearly. I see people on here that must have not followed instructions. I saw a lot of them in my class. How hard is it to follow instructions. He is a great teacher
He is a great teacher. It is an easy A. You have easy reading quizzes that you do online and you get two attempts. You use the textbook but you don't have to bring it to class. The only downside to this class was that it was super boring.
Hes a awesome teacher very understanding !
I really enjoyed this class because he really made it interesting. He was a pretty easy grader for the most part expect for the tests. His tests can be really hard because they are all essay style and you don't know what the questions are gonna be. His power points are posted online but nothing in detail which you need to pass his tests.
Professor Laporte was a great instructor. The class is structured around quizzes, tests, group discussions, and an essay at the end of the semester. The course itself is pretty dry, but he does pretty good at making it interesting. Take good notes, and study the art, and you will do well. Also, he is pretty gentle when grading.
Professor LaPorte's class is based on online quizzes, group discussions and writing, and an essay. The course information is very boring if you aren't into the fine arts, but he makes the course interesting. Attendance is very big on group discussion days!
follow the instructions each week and you'll do just fine! Professor is GREAT!
He is a good professor and this class is an easy A. Show up and do your work, make sure you do the quizzes and you will pass. You do not have to bring the book to class.
5 - 25 question (easy) multiple choice quizzes based on reading, 5 - 500 word discussion posts with 200 word response to classmate. 700 word essay on a museum piece for midterm, online test for final. Extra credit lets you skip one quiz or discussion, Final is 1/6th of your grade. Follow clear instructions and it's an easy A.
NO FINAL AND NO MIDTERM! 8 quizzes and 8 essays. one essay that is an easy 100 if you do all the requirements. EASY CLASS. TAKE IT!
great professor, no midterm or final but lots of writing, if you do the work and follow instructions it is an easy A.
Professor Laporte is an amazing professor. He gives very clear instructions. No late work is accepted, however, if you miss one assignment or quiz, don't worry. He gives easy extra credit. Participation matters. Show up for class and do the quizzes and writing assignments and you will pass with a good grade. He is always available. Fun class!
500 word discussion and 200 word reply DUE EVERY WEEK! More writing in this class than COMP 1 !He also grades the posts really harshly, tuff grader!
Great professor!!! Loved him! His class is a very easy A. This class consists of very easy quizzes, in class discussions, 3 exams and an end of the year essay. He gives lectures but if you listen they are EXACTLY the same as the exams. Very little work and very intelligent/respectable guy. I would take this class again in a heartbeat!
Everything is outlined in the syllabus and he will remind you about dates. Homework is fun but requires attention. Textbook was not needed in-class, only for online at-home quizzes. I enjoyed the subject matter he taught. Make sure you come to class on activity days! He was available for help outside class time and he wants you to succeed.
This class require a lot of work online. I did a lot of work and was never able to get more than a B on my assignments. I wasn't too happy about this at all, because of of how i gave my all and still didn't earn an A. The only A i received was on my field trip experience essay. Finished the class with a 81 which made my overall gpa drop
Prof. LaPorte was an okay teacher. We watched movies, he lectured, group projects. No midterm or final. I didn't use the book at all. Power points were not detailed.
Professor LaPorte wasn't great. I took one of his online Humanities classes and it is HARD if you're bad at time management. Online, everything is due at 10:00pm, which is ridiculous. I find he's a bit rude. I emailed him asking to retake a quiz due to some technical issues (I sent proof too) and he just kept avoiding the question. Yeah, not a fan.
I've taken him for two different courses and it's such an easy A. All you have to do is listen to his quirky lectures. Hes funny and realistic and he knows you want the A. He knows that you're not really interested an try's to make it fun and interactive so you don't fall asleep. Movies and extra credit! Take him and I promise you will love him!
Super easy A! He makes the work interesting with lots of movies. Make sure you attend on activity days. Makes group activities fun and engaging. Didnt use the book once. He does everything he can to remind you of the due dates and clearly explain assignments. No latework. No midterm and final is optional to only boost grade. Would take again!
Professor Laporte is amazing! He needs to teach more classes for humanities. He gives clear grading criteria and is a super easy A. Anyone who says he's a bad professor is crazy. For online, there are 8 quizzes and 8 discussions with one big essay which is super easy. Best professor ever.
He has a great grading criteria also available when you need them even through email. has amazing lectures and he gives good feed back when it comes to out of class activities
Such a great teacher. He was always available to answer questions after class. More group projects than anything. Super funny and easy going!
Online course required a 500-page analysis each week, with a 200-word reflection post on a classmate's analysis. Outlines the criteria of each analysis, so as long as you follow along with it, you should be able to get an A. Seemed easy enough to get a hold of if needed, and gave easy extra credit at the end.
Not hard, but not understanding.
LaPorte was amazing! One of my favorite professors and classes for sure. ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY!!! Great conversations in class, I never wanted to miss.
He's a very nice knowledgeable guy. There is quite a bit of reading involved, and it tends to be pretty long and dry content. The reading was the only negative though. He's an easy grader and gives you more than enough time to complete projects and assignments. He also offers a very easy extra credit opportunity at the end of the class.
Easy attainable A if you pay attention to his lectures and keep up with the online quizzes and in class module discussions. Important essay due towards the end of the semester but he will give you feedback if you finish ahead of time, so definitely take advantage of that. Overall great, I would definitely take one of his classes again if I could!
Professor LaPorte is a good choice for Humanities! Although his criteria for assignments can contradict itself at times, he is always available & willing to answer any questions! The main assignments are two group projects that are daunting at first, but as long as you follow his directions & ask any questions you have, you will do fine!
Really great teacher! This humanities class isn't just a history class like a lot are so that was nice. Lots of creative assignments in and out of class.
LaPorte gives amazing feedback for all discussions and essays. Good news! There's only two essays, one for 100pts and one for 50pts. They are short but have a lot of requirements to meet, so pay attention. Be prepared to read the textbook bc all answers to quizzes are in there, there's 8 in total. No final, midterm only. Responds to emails quickly
Took the class online. Most of the assignments are discussion posts that have pretty clear directions of what you should be discussing. Most modules will contain two discussion posts and a quiz. There is one project that acts as your midterm, and there is no final. Laporte gives good feedback on your assignments and has informative news posts.
He is a nice guy but the class is basically online. You dont even have to show up to pass. Id take it online. As long as you do the weekly assignments on mycourses and answer the 10 questions you basically pass, a lot of notes in class and it gets boring. Nice and helpful guy but I wouldnt take this class again. Not enough assignments for grades
Gives helpful feedback to help you improve your grade. No midterm or final. Responds to emails quickly. Clear instructions and grading criteria. Offers extra credit towards end of class that all you have to do is answer a few anonymous survey questions.
This is not a blow off class. It's not hard but you HAVE to follow the rubric carefully because you will lose points. He gives you 2 weeks to finish each Module which is plenty of time. Prof LaPorte is not a hard grader but he does expect effort to be put into the discussions. There is also no final and he will give extra credit at the end.
Professor LaPorte taught every class with a lecture, but always stopped to ask questions and make sure we understood the material discussed. He is clear about all assignments and open to any questions you have. There is one group project but the work is graded individually. Very interactive and understanding
Tough grader to make you better. Tedious work assignments. He emails back right away. If you do your work on time and take his critiques into consideration you will get an A.
Just show up and pay attention for at least most of the time. He tells you pretty much what's on the test and the stuff he's talking about is pretty interesting. Take his class you won't regret it.
Great professor, I would take his class again.
Seems as a tough grader at first. Once you get with the program the class is easy and rewarding.
I took him for intro to humanities and the class was average on the scale for how hard it was. Nothing crazy, but make sure you stay on top of your work or you won't get a good grade. He chooses some interesting topics for research and discussion which is nice!
I liked Mr. LaPorte's class. He is an easy grader (at least from my experience) and I have no issues with him. I would take him again. He is very complimentary and made me feel special.
Fast pace class NO makeup for missed dates. Quiz & discussion post each module. These posts are really essays where YOU are expect to do your own research and will spend DAYS researching to earn a 70% & no re-submission. Book was decoration. You will not learn anything important and will spend ur time on not known artists.
10 tests and 10 discussion posts. The Final was easy. Learned a lot and completed the class in the first 2 weeks of it being open.
First, let me make it clear, you have to do the work and this class requires writing. But Professor LaPorte gives really good feedback from the get go and you can work ahead on quizzes. I took express summer and easily completed weekly assignments. Would love to take him again.
Excellent feedback on discussions and papers. He gives extra credit and grades fairly.
Absolute phenomenal professor. I would most definitely take his class again!
EXTREMELY tough grader. This class ruined my GPA as it was the only class I didnt do well in when I first started college. Id spend so much time researching and put so much effort into this class only to be given very low grades. Retaking this class with a different professor and doing phenomenal.
Took the 8 week class and it is an easy A as long as you do the work. There are weekly quizzes on the textbook reading as well as some sort of module activity (typically research based). He also gives great feedback and there are two opportunities throughout the class to turn in a missed module activity.
Worst professor! His syllabus was insane. His instructions are hard to understand as his syllabus and homework assignment instructions contradict each other. It was hard to pay attention to his lectures because his explanations of topics were horrible. Anthony Laporte wouldn't come to class often. No prior notification of absence.
I took this class not knowing what I was getting into and honestly, professor LaPorte is AMAZING! He's very understanding and he gave two opportunities to make up any module work you missed. Class is very easy and he's willing to help all the time. There was 6 module activities, 6 quizzes (one including the syllabus quiz) and one essay.
Highly recommend
Prof. Laporte is great. He has a clear GRADING CRITERIA - READ IT. I used MLA for the discussions. Be prepared to read, or choose wisely what you're going to read if you don't have time. The websites you use outside of the ones he gives, better have an author. 6 discussions, 2 makeups, midterm and final (open book). replies need to be thoughtful.
He was an amazing professor! Attendance wasn't mandatory which was great for scheduling purposes! The grading criteria was very clear just be thorough with your assignments and a proper grade will be received.
Dr. Laporte is seriously amazing. You can tell he is passionate about his job and strives to see his students succeed.
I enjoyed taking this class with Professor LaPorte. There is a lot of reading and writing but it is a humanities class which requires adequate reading and writing. Easy essays/discussion posts with simple 10 question quizzes. Final was easy IMO, and he gives genuine feedback on submissions. Would highly recommend him for Intro to Humanities!
Very good professor. Class is very simple. Writing assignments can be a little confusing and hard but not too bad. Gives opportunities to make up papers for full credit. Highly recommend.
Amazing professor, I would definitely take him again I learned so much and class definitely help me with Analyze art which was my favorite as well as identifying certain things in production. very understanding, communication was great as well he breaks assignments down so you understand clearly 6essays,reading quizzes 1discussion
Professor Lapore was great! Very clear on the work that needs to done. There aren't any tests, only quizzes for the chapters covered and they are open book. He allows all the work to be turned in via ROUGH DRAFT first and then advises you what should be fixed, can't get easier than that for receive an A.
Great prof, Gives amazing feedback on papers, is a good grader, he is good with answering calls and email, no final or midterm just a lot of papers to write but not hard to do just a little time consuming.
Mr. LaPorte is a very nice professor. He gives us opportunities to make up for something we may have missed, and he also is more than happy to answer questions in class and help clear things up.
Professor LaPorte was easily my best professor this semester. He was very informative and was quick to respond to emails. He seems to genuinely care about whether or not we succeed. His lectures are not mandatory and are usually short and sweet. His feedback genuinely helps and is always willing to help.
Great Professor, work is explained thoroughly and provided all upfront so you can work ahead. You can submit rough drafts for papers and he gives great feedback. Attendence wasn't mandatory.
Be prepared to have every little thing ridiculed and points taken off for the simplest of things. Grading criteria not clear, offers rough drafts to improve before final draft is graded but barely helps. Seems like he just doesn't like to hand out A's
His book is "mandatory", I finished this course without it. I didn't buy the $80 textbook LOL. There's no midterm or Final, his assignments are quick and easy. I finished his class in less than a month. Highly recommend, his feedback is awesome. He's awesome, he's chill, he's a very laidback guy, 10/10. You won't regret it. I took it online, cake.
Professor Laporte takes off points for the smallest things when it comes to grading papers. Gives excellent feedback but a tough grader. Be ready to write a lot in this class!!!!!!!!!!
Professor Laporte Is very understanding but a tough grader. There was a lot of assignments which he gave us the opportunity to turn in "earlier" for feedback that I did well on, which was great because not many professors do that. He gave many easy quizzes, chapter work and essays written on different topics of this course.
Professor Laporte is a thorough and helpful instructor. While grading can be strict, he provides excellent feedback to improve your work. The workload is manageable, and Unstuck study resources like ChatGPT can be useful for study prep.
