Very good professor. He is willing to help out any student that needs it and his tests are easy. Go to class though and take all the notes that you can. If you put forth the effort you will get an A. Too many Zima jokes though!

I like this guy, I am great at writing so this was an easy class for me. I love the topics on serial killers!

Dr. Larose is a very nice person. The subject matter was hard since it was an international cj course but he made the best of it. He is willing to work with students and is helpful during office hours with papers.

Tough, and kinda boring. This guy is a genius at international criminal justice, wish he could get it across to his class better.

there are several comments about not talking in his class. this is a classroom for learning not talking with friends. some of us like to listen and learn. you make him sound awful - he's a good teacher.

He was (and still is) my favorite professor! The class is challenging..He expects you to remember the things he teaches! WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T YAWN! He can't stand that! Just be there on time, pay attention, and have (don't just show) interest, and you'll be fine! You'll learn to love him and his class!

Dr. LaRose is a wonderful professor! Don't listen to these other students. They probably expected an easy A, with nothing expected of them. Dr. LaRose expects you to be mature. But he loves what he does and it shows. He's the nicest, sweetest guy you'll ever meet. Don't be afraid to ask for help. He's willing to help those who ask. You'll love him!

Ok...he's the TEACHER! He knows what he's talking about! anyone who says otherwise should realize that they are the students and he is the teacher...there's a reason for that...Anyway Dr. LaRose is an awesome professor and HE REALLY DOES KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT! The student below me is ignorant. No such situation occured to my knowledge. He does pick on certain people during class but it's all in good fun and he doesn't mind at all if you have comebacks for him. He's a tough professor but his class is worth taking. Great teacher, funny, and keeps the class interesting. Recommended. :D

Great professor very organized with power points. Test aren't really hard they are multiple choice with a few short answers but pay attention in class and take the note off all his powerpoints and you will do fine.

He was an ok teacher; you have to really want to be in the class to do well. Not recommended for students who are taking this as an elective. He is fair and nice person, but it is difficult to get a good grade and gives a lot of work for a 101 class. He does tend to miss a lot of his classes though.

great teacher,one guest speaker from mass was extremely informative and knowledgeable.could have listened to him all day. some correction officer who really knew his stuff.

He is super nice- pretty laid back and funny. He's a pretty cool guy. You write a bunch of papers... he never really tells you what's wrong with them, just puts a grade on it. He's fairly nice in his grading. His tests are fair. If you read the material and study his notes, you'll be fine!

If you do your reading and read his notes, you'll be fine. He's probably one of the easiest professor I've had. His tests are taken directly out of the assigned reading. His papers are almost impossible to fail as long as you follow correct APA format and actually put some effort in it.

LaRose is a good guy...if you do your work...laugh at his jokes and do well on the mult. choice quizzez/tests you will be fine...class isnt a joke but its not difficult, he keeps it interesting

If you're not an ROTC kid don't bother..he talks to no one else. I'd sit on my laptop the entire time bc hes another power point teacher. Its not dreadful, but all he cares about is one major paper and isnt fair about grading it. pick someone else

Loved this guy! He seems like a real hardass at first, but he is really chill if you stay on his good side. He won't take BS from anyone though. I looked forward to every class. His multichoice are easy, and he does grade the essay a little hard.

GREAT TEACHER AND PERSON! After reading some of the other reviews on here either the people bashing him must be F'ups or are retards to begin with. LaRose is one of those straight shooting guys that wont put up with the talkers or the classroom idiot types, if you show up engage in class, keep joking to a min and do your work he really is an easy A

Very arrogant. do not text in class. he will yell at you like a 5 year old. he does put material on tests that are from other chapters so read the next chapter at least. he likes to call out people and make dry jokes. as long as you do the work and go to class it is an easy A.

This guy is amazing! Best professor I have ever had. He loves what he does and is good at it. The people who rate him bad do not have a sense of humor and are obvious freshman slackers. There's only one paper, and as long as you take notes and read the text you will pass. He like to joke around a lot so don't take anything personally. Great guy!

LaRose is a GREAT professor! He's definitely passionate about what he teaches! Some of the reviews I have read are NOT TRUE. He's very sarcastic, but in a good way don't take it personally! The class itself is easy! You need to read the text, write an essay every week just a page or two long and he tells you what to write. And make sure to study!

He is a great professor, i highly recommend taking his class! he loves what he does and really knows what he is talking about. He gives weekly homework but its not hard assignments. You do have to study for the tests but he doesnt try and trick you on them. He is very sarcastic but in a funny way he doesnt mean it personally at all. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Larose is awesome! Funny, knows his stuff, fair grader. He does give out weekly papers though, so be ready to read ahead. He is very clear on what he wants for each paper and as long as you follow his criteria you will be fine. I did, and all my papers got 100's! Take his class, you wont get bored and you'll learn a lot!

Maybe my favorite professor. Made class interesting & engaging with his knowledge & humor. The complaints against him in this forum, i.e. he requires you study, doesn't want you texting in class, etc. are from cry-babies who don't belong in college. If you are serious about his class, he is your biggest supporter. He gives you the grade you earn.

LaRose's class was by far my easiest and most laid back this semester. 20 Q multiple choice quiz every 2 weeks or so, if you go to class and copy the slides it's an easy A. He's super chill and covers everything on the quizzes, study your notes and you'll have no problem. Often emails the power points too. Definitely would take again/ reccommend!

LaRose is a great guy and you can actually tell that there is a genuine human being in there. He's funny and relatable, and he definitely tries to make his lectures interesting. However, every single class is the same exact thing- him talking through a powerpoint and you taking notes. It's really boring but if you skip, you'll fail.

LaRose is a great professor !! I enjoyed every single class, it was my favorite class along the entire semester. He shows interesting videos about what we learn in almost every class, powerpoints are always posted but be sure to take notes in class. He is a really genuine and nice person, I would definitely retake the class if I could!

Larose is a great professor and his class is interesting, even when you aren't a crim major. There are only quizzes, no exams or a final, and all of the info you need to know are on his powerpoints so take good notes. Don't buy the textbook, you don't need it. Definitely stay off your phone, though. He will call you out. Take him!!

As a person he is really funny and makes the class interesting the only I wish he would gives us is more ways to improve our grade cause the only thing your graded on is the 7 quizez for me im not best on quizez but i still did pretty good.

Professor LaRose is by far the best professor I've ever had. He explains everything so well, makes PowerPoints straight from the textbook, and nothing that wasn't mentioned in class is on the exams. He is truly the best and wants all students to do well. Participate! He is not scary!! He will call you out if you are on your phone, so never go on it

Kinda problematic but really easy so choose your fighter. you don't do what any of the other seminar classes do cause he's lazy. most of the time class is canceled if not class is no longer than 30 min. funny guy. He does a lot of cool things for the csi portion of the class.

LaRose is so funny and tries to make class entertaining. He is very laid back and classes never run the full time and we just kind of talk in this class

Dr. LaRose is probably one of the best professors at UT. He has no final or no exams, just grades you on quizzes. Although half this semester is online, he really is the best. He is lecture heavy but makes it fun in his own way. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE!!! He will straight kick you out if on your phone.

I understand why some people don't like him, but I liked him a lot. He can come off as sarcastic and it might offend or confuse some people. I think he was really good at explaining things and making sure we understood the material. There is reading required in order to do well on the quizzes, but what class doesn't have that. Overall awesome.

Super good professor for entry to crim!! every other week there was a quiz on the two chapters learned and every alternating week was an assignment where u watch a video (usually about 45 to an hour) and take a short 5-10 question quiz. The videos are always interesting but you need to make sure u read the textbook and study the slides. Great prof!

Professor LaRose was very lecture heavy. Had no final and about 10 quizzes that were 20 questions. As long as you pay attention it was super easy.

Overall hes a good guy! He TRIES to make us laugh during lecture but theyre not funny lol. His powerpoints arent too explicit sometimes they can be confusing. Nonetheless, I would still take him as he is very understanding, and yeah sometimes he may sound sarcastic but I feel like hes a cool guy! I would take him again. Tests are pretty easy.

Dr. Larose is a great professor as long as you show up to lecture and participate. I loved the way he structured my crim 101 class, it made the class easy and informative. Super friendly, very helpful and accommodating. I also found lectures interesting and not boring at all. Love him, would def take his class again

Don't be scared. He is phenomenal and knows what he is talking about. Class is 50 minutes, give him your respect and he will return that to you. Lots of kids didn't do well because they sat on their phones or listened to music in class. He makes controversial jokes but nothing offensive; if you want to learn, he will be such a good resource!

easy class he hates phones so just put away, overall good professor and easy work, late work was accepted and he's easy to talk to.

he's okay to talk to but don't expect any real help on the class. lectures are long, attendance not mandatory. if u get butthurt easily don't take him. he will not help u on the final paper, he'll tell u topics r boring and give u a shit grade on the abstract and outline. chat gpt the paper, he'll love it. his lectures don't help. use chatgpt

All I can say is even though he has many bad reviews he really is a great professor. As long as you come to class, read your textbook, and watch any videos assigned you should be more than fine for the quiz's. This class is made up of 7 quiz's and there is no final. Each quiz is 20 multiple choice questions. I would take him again.

I took multiples courses with Larose from 2011-2013. Over a decade later I will say that he was a solid professor. It helped if you made yourself known to him or communicated with him about what he was teaching. Some group projects. He had a hilarious sense of humor toward anyone not paying attention. Good guy, hope he's still at UT.
