Ridiculous
This class is not hard as long as you pay attention and ask questions. If you don't ask questions he will assume everyone understands. Before taking this class I would make sure you are familiar with the basics (fractions, ability to understand word pro
He is really not too bad, you have to attend class, you have to ask questions, he is an overall nice guy. There isn't a good teacher for regular Calculus (231-234) in this school, but he is the closest they have to that.
he's way too hard. and goes way too fast. u do one to two lessons per day no matter what. and crams in like 4 chapters for the exam...that's way too many numbers, problems, and concepts, all of which u must memorize...!!!!!!!
Lenard is a teacher who makes things easy for his students and always request feedbacks from them. He might not be the most interesting math teacher but this guy really go all the way to help his students (ie xtra credit + staying up late after class).
Very nice guy. Extremely helpful. He is always willing to stop and answer a question no matter how basic. he wants you to understand. although his class moves a little fast but then again so do all math classes. I WOULD take his class again.
he is a very good teacher if you like to learn mathematics
The worst teacher I have ever had in my whole life. stay clear of this teacher, tests are crazy he looks for things to mark off. horrible, remember I warned you
Disregard all the whiney comments about this teacher. Do the homework and understand it and you'll do fine in the class. One thing i dont like about him is he is very picky when grading quiz/tests. Overall hes helpful, and gives EC at the end.
Not a great teacher but not the worst. You can't rely on his lectures alone & must study from the book to understand & do well. Quiz problems are taken directly from homework & tests always have problems similar to homework. I wouldn't recommend him & only took him because it was the only Calc 233 compatible with my schedule.
worst math teacher i ever had. everything he puts on the board is copied directly out of the book, and he give no insight of his own. i'm in an evening class and he keeps the class 20 to 30 minutes late every single day.
His a pretty nice guy if you get to know him. but dont get on his bad side, he'll freak out on you. He doesn't explain the proofs at all. Just copies from the book. The hardest part was learing limits.
Okay as Stats instructor. Does cram too much into tests, quizzes. There is either a test or quiz every week. Kind of makes you feel stupid when you ask a question, but will help if you see him during office hours, which aren't that convenient for people who actually have full-time jobs.
Very hard, everythign was copied from the book, he makes talks non-stop for 50 minutes straight. Isnt very helpful.
this is a non-stop class. every minute of every class is notes and lecture.. isn't very clear.. copies straight from the book.. i have to retake stats now.. if u are good at math and have no problem with a fast paced class then take Lenard.. if u need a slower paced class then DO NOT TAKE HIM!
This guy gives you very easy exams, but he's a little dissappointing with the grading. If you do the Homework, care about the subject, you'll get an A definitely. He drops one of his 5 exams(each100), has 3 projects(20 each), and 5 quizzes, drops the lowest quiz(20 each),final 120.TOTAL 560. If you just wanna pass do very good for the first 8 weeks
Very helpful, takes the time to answer any questions you may have. He offered extra credit on every test and quiz. Bottom line for the class: pay attention, showup, you will cover a different section everyday, you must do the homework, seek help if needed. If you fail it's not the instructors fault.
Well, I dont really know what to say about this professor. I am not sure whose fault was it? his or mine? I failed this class because i missed exams and he never gave me make up exams and didnt even let me drop the class..not even incomplete grade...so was kind of little stubbornness..Really hard teacher for stat.. Exams were extremely hard.have fu
He is very well organized in his notes. Straight out of the book. Always on task. He does all the talking but really encourages asking questions if you are lost. He's extremely dry and boring and doesn't tolerate any goofing off or talking at all. He drops your lowest test and quiz score which is nice but he has a no-make up policy.
Test/quiz questions are straight from the homework. BUT he sometimes takes half an hour to explain one problem - no breaks in a 2hr class and we still get out at least 3 min late. He gives A's for results, not for effort. Show lots of work, be logical.
He is/was an excellent teacher
I got an A in this class, but I had to work for it. Mr. Lenard knows his stuff very well. He can break down any question down to the nitty gritty if you need him to. Don't be scared to ask question, he will go over it until you get it, even if it takes an hour of class time. His quizzes are stright for the homework questions in the book.
He is so rude n hard to get good score, i did gud in all exams n quiz bt i got a C. quiz will b exactly coiped from the homework part n test wud b really hard, n final will b so hard. dont takr him.
He is so rude n hard to get good score, i did gud in all exams n quiz bt i got a C. quiz will b exactly coiped from the homework part n test wud b really hard, n final will b so hard. dont takr him.
Very borring.Homework is mandatory for passing the quiz.Test are very hard.Does not help if you go to office hours.I do not know why he gives office hours then...Do not take him if you can!
Lenard is an excellent professor. Solutions manual is "HIGHLY" Recommended, it has every single problem in there. You'll def need it for things like G.Jordan, Pascals and other hard****. Class is 660 points, 43 total extra credit on quizes, no hw,drops 30 points at end of sem-final is cumil. He covers EVERYTHING in class, straight from book. Me=D+
Lenard is a very fair prof. He was so accommodating with his office hours and generous with his time. Statistics requires a lot of homework/study time. I have already found its applications very useful. I worked hard for my A, but Lenard helped me as often as I needed (phone, office, and emails). Very professional prof.
He teaches entirely through examples. If you understand how to do all the types of homework problems you'll do good. I didn't even attend class often but I made sure to understand the homework and I did just fine.
For just one hour he gave 15 question test wow. Hard as hell tests. old school man. Just read the book thats all he teaches. Thumbs down for him.
This man has the patience of a saint. He will sit with you for as long as it takes until you understand the concepts. If you are in his class, do yourself a favor and take advantage of his office hours. My only gripe with him is that he grades hard. Rest assured, if you want to learn math he will teach you well. He understands it beyond the text.
He should give up...he doesnt know how to teach. exam are just way beyond what he teaches you in class and mann i would just fire him and i can't forget how put his glasses on LOL dont take it! i'd recommend Tom Roselle.
useless teacher. dont take him.He grades so hard that your grade drops even if u have A in class it goes to B.he doesnt even know how to teach...Dont take him for Calc
ha, strange guy but he's okay. It's not the easiest class but it's not impossible either. If you want a slow pace, this is your teacher.
Has to one of the worst math teacher ever. test are hard and his teaching is very unclear. Attendence is manditory but you wont get alot by attending.
Professor Lenard was a great teacher. His tests are very hard. If you're looking for an easy class, stay away. he will challenge you. He grades hard. but he offers a lot of office time and is good at explaining one on one. If you like a challenge/are good at math this is your guy.
WORST TEACHER EVER. HARD GRADER. DOESN'T DO ANY REVIEW. GIVES ONE EXAMPLE AND MOVES REALLY FAST. DON'T TAKE HIM. I would suggest Ordonez
hes a great teacher I think. I took him for calc 2231 and 2232 and hes just seems like a great guy. Always prepared and helpful in any ways. I would really recommend him for anyone. Grades are based off of points but he does offer a little buffer zone. Its a hard class because it is math but if you do the homework and study, you should be fine.
Things moved pretty quickly (what do expect for an 8-week class)? He was very available for office-hours help and responds to email very quickly. A GOOD teacher!
Solid professor - you will know calc after this class, but do the work. Tests and quizzes were almost verbatim from homework - (I repeat - don't slack off) not a class you can just cram at the last minute for. Old-school - no Blackboard or Powerpoints. Very helpful during office hours. Straight-forward lectures and grading.
If u take his class u have to work very hard..4 tests and one comprehensive final. he doesn't give much extra credits though if u work hard u will get good grade..
Be ready to hear a lot of "and it says" and "ok ok." Is he a good teacher? maybe. Is he effective? Not at all. He doesn't understand the material well and trust me, his lectures are so dull. If you don't study the material on your own time, you're doomed. Tests are hard.
go to class. go to class. go to class! i missed so many times and honestly believe that if i wouldve been there for his lectures i wouldve done better. boring but good examples and walks you through everything. gives 30pts buffer and grade is based off of points. read the sections prior to class!!! itll do you a world of good :)
Very, very, very strict grader. If you define a definition in your own words its marked wrong. He wants perfection...its almost impossible to get an A in this class. I do not recommend this teacher, he is very unreasonable, boring, and doesnt care if youre screaming for help. He wants you to fail.
Very good teacher. Requires a lot of work, but you will know exactly what to expect from the class. Quiz problems are from the homework and the test questions are very similar to homework problems, you won't see problems as difficult as the hardest homework problems on tests. Gives a decent amount of extra credit opportunities on quizzes/tests.
I attended every single class and had to withdraw by week 2. He only talks to himself to the board and assumes the students already know the material. Would NOT recommend this teacher to anyone who wants a good grade.
Seriously, If you want A - he's the one who is going to give you this at this high Math level. All you have to do is do whatever homework he ask you to do. You do not have do each and every but after 3-4 weeks you'll know what to o and not to do - Anyways you do the homework and you know the test & quizes. Because test & quiz are from Homework only
extremely hard grader.. even if you get a 19/20 on one of his quizzes, every single problem has a paragraph of his red writing. His lectures are long and boring- extremely hard for me to follow, personally. I would attend class and teach myself the sections in class. Good luck, if you do take him, i hope you have previous knowledge to help you thru
Math is hard, no doubt. Prf. Lenard really is a good choice. He is really nice and will answer your questions without making you feel stupid. He also gave us extra credit at the start of the course (about as much as another letter grade) as opposed to dropping a grade or two at the end. He knows what he's talking about. Overall, a solid teacher.
Come to class, do the assigned homework and you will do great in the class. The quizes are based on the homework, and the tests are a culmination of homework and in class discussion. Overall great teacher and is there to help, but be warned, you get what you put in. Be prepared to do the work if you want an A, he will make you earn it.
Prof. Lenard explains the material clearly in class, and he won't mind explaining again if asked, or if one goes to his office hours. Quizzes are exactly homework problems, and tests problems are of the same caliber as the quiz. He gives plenty of extra credit, which can make a letter grade difference. I certainly recommend this teacher.
He teaches the material poorly. He doesn't take much time to explain things. He is also not very enthusiastic so it is hard to pay attention. I would not recommend him since he uses outdated teaching methods.
most boring teacher! no EC! by the end of the semester half of people droped! He made me fall asleep at every class, I think only the first row was learning. If you like those slow teachers then yes. Uses the examples from the book which already solved and written out how to do it. no energy!! do not recommend!
Mr. Lenard's not a mean guy but he will bore you to DEATH. Calc II as it is isn't any blowoff class but he is the toughest grader I've ever had. no partial credit. 35 students begining of the semester, 16 at the end
He is a really good teacher and cares about the subject. Offers extra credit on his quizzes and tests. If you get your answers wrong he will at least show you what you did wrong on the test and quizzes. Also I suggest getting his textbook because the quizzes and tests are based on it. He is always willing to answer your questions. He helped alot!
this class is not easy. what you put in is what ull get out. buy the solutions manual this class it will save you. try your best on the hw and ull be fine.
Always willing to help, seems to care a lot about is students and the subject. Do the homework and you will do fine.
i did not like going to that class after it started because the teacher i felt wasnt helpful and you are not aloud to take quizzes early so dont plan anything while you have him as a teacher
Go to class and do some homework and you'll get a B. Put in extra effort and I can't see why you can't get an A. 30 points extra credit at the beginning of the class which helps a class and more added on later. Quizzes are straight from hw and tests are a little tricky. Very helpful but boring lectures but bare with him.
The teacher is nice but his lectures were boring. I thought i wont do good but 30 points extra credit at the beginning of the semester and extra credit on every test and quiz was a blessing. Wont blame the teacher if i got bad on the test; he was a nice teacher i would say. You wont like him at first but bare with him, u wont regret!!
Hardest teacher on earth!! People take him multiple times! If you russian, don't take! He hates Eastern Europeans!
Do not take his class. half the kids in my section took him more than once. He is a very hard grader, leaves very little room for error.
Very clear on what he teaches and is willing to answer any of questions in greater detail. However, he is very strict on his grading to an extent where he will deduct 4 points on a test or quiz if you forgot a positive or negative sign.
Working hard and going to his office hours will get you through this class with an A or B. He is very helpful and makes sure you understand the concept. His tests are challenging but do-able. Don't slack. You will need to be a self directed learner
Best teacher for Calculus and the entire college. He knows his mathematics really well, definitely intelligent, and truly motivational. Of course, to get an A you have to work your butt off, just like any class, especially Calculus. Overall, impressive, clear, and again, motivational and inspiring. Take him.
I took his class over the summer and I thought he was a great teacher. Well-prepared, intelligent, and very knowledgeable.
Lenard is a very boring character and you will never pay attention for an entire lecture. On top of that, he is anything but a fair grader. He gives no partial credit for problems done right with a wrong answer, OR problems with a correct answer not done entirely to his liking. If you need a good GPA and Lenard is your last option, take 2232 later.
Doesnt give credit even if the test answers are correct! Not helpful at all at office hours. Doesnt really teach just reads word for word from the book, and by far the rudest teacher I've ever had.
I only passed this class with a B because I went to the tutoring service. When he is lecturing, the class drags on forever and is very slow. However, if you ask him for help outside of class he is a bit more clear. 3 hour class with a 5 minute break at the end with 10 minutes to go. Which is absolutely ridiculous. Only take him if your good at math
I ended up getting a B in this class because I did none of the homework assigned. With that said, I think Mr. Lenard is an acquired taste. For me, I think he's awesome. But there were those in the class who criticized him for being too "tough". Dude, it's calc, what do you expect? He gave a ton of extra credit on both tests and quizzes. Smart guy!
Lenard is a good math teacher. I took pre-calc first semester with a different teacher but had to drop out because I was going to get a low grade. He is a lot better than the other teacher I had before, and he gives partial credit on many of the answers on tests. Overall, I would recommend him for 1431.
He wasn't a bad teacher, he just wasn't attentive enough to all of the students. Don't think for one second that skipping class is an option...I love math, I went to class everyday except one and hardly got a C. I loved the course but his tests didn't match the difficulty level of the homework which was hard enough on its own.
His extra credit helps, he very tough grader and thinks everything needs to be perfect, his lectures don't help only tutoring does, his test are very hard, he one of the better pre-calc teachers though, good luck passing we started off with 22 and only 10 people are going to pass.... very hard class!!!
He's a tough grader, so you definitely need to show up to learn the material. However, he's a very good teacher, very clear. If you ask him to go over something, he'll do it until you understand. 1431 had a guided study group that was fairly helpful as well. He wants to help you succeed. I hate math, but I enjoyed the challenge of this class.
This teacher really knows his stuff, and it very fair with his students but the quizzes and test account for all of your grade so If you don't do great on them don't expect to pass. Homework should be done everyday or you will NOT PASS! He's a very hard grader he expects that your work must be perfect. Don't reccomend if you struggle with Math.
I took Calc 3 over the summer, so it definitely wasn't supposed to be an easy ordeal. Mr. Lenard was there if you needed help. I didn't do the homework and crammed for all tests and quizzes. I got a C overall. So, if you need an A, do all the homework, and DONT CRAM! Ask him anything Math related right on the spot and he'll answer it! Amazing.
He was super nice and had tons of office hours. If you do all the homework and pay attention during lectures, you will do well :)
avoid this professor if you can!!!!!! Classes are boring, you can't understand what is he trying to explain, tests are extremely hard, he picks most difficult ones from homework or the ones done in class!!
Do the homework!! Lenard is a nice guy and a solid math teacher. He encouraged questions before and at the beginning of class and maintained many office hours. The quiz problems came straight from the homework, and while not easy, the tests were reasonable. He offered a good amount of extra credit but you will still need to work hard to pass!
So, I didnt do the homework. Test were pretty hard. I was so close to A, so I was mad at myself for not working hard enough. Just letting you know, if you want his class be either super hard worker or be really smart at math (I took in HS, so it was only thing that helped to get that B+)
I signed up for calc 2 but actually didn't need it so I dropped the first week. But what Lenard wrote me as soon as I withdrew to see if it had anything to do with the syllabus structure or some other problem I had with the class. I thought that was very thoughtful and a sign of a great teacher. If I needed to take calc 2 I take him!
I have heard that most math profs at COD are bad, but Lenard wasn't that bad. A lot of material is covered, so you have to pay attention. He provides and slowly works through many examples of every topic, which was very helpful Dont be afraid to ask questions He is available to offer help after class as well He really wants everyone to understa
Worst teacher I have ever had at COD! Not only were his lectures long and confusing, but if you ask him a question he basically yells at you for not understanding. During lectures he pretends he doesn't know how to do the problems which only confuse students more. Doing the homework helps but he isn't specific with what to study for tests/quizzes.
God bless Lenard. He clearly likes calculus and cares about his students, but he's also a super tough grader who puts on a boring lecture. He gives a potential of 630pts all semester but only grades out of 600, which gives you a nice 30pt boost (you'll probably need it). Honestly, just do the hw and you'll be fine. If not, don't expect to do well.
Lenard was by far the toughest grader I had for a math course. For example, he gave half credit on test questions where my answer and work were both right, he just didn't like a label I used. Also, his lectures are long and he writes on the board as he speaks, often giving incorrect examples without forewarning. Grading is ridiculous.
Beware! This teacher only grades tests. There are like two quizzes and the rest of your grade falls into your test grades. No homework points, no participation points, no extra credit. If you're planning on taking him, you better be the best test taker I've ever met.
If you have a chance to take another professor I would do so. Started with a full class and I believe only 8 of us were left. Very knit picky- strict grader, lecture heavy, and expects you to stay after class has technically ended. Also doesn't give enough time for tests.
Here's the deal. He sets his guidelines and standards pretty early on and makes it clear what he will be looking for and DOES NOT WAVER AT ALL. I had friends that missed passing his class by .1% and he did not allow it, but it sticks by what he says, give you what you earn and no more no less. Very helpful one on one, but lectures not so much.
He is a horrible professor. Hardest and the pickiest grader in the world. ONLY TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SACRIFICE YOUR G.P.A.
Taking Prof. Lenard for Calc 1 & 2 was the most humbling experience of my educational career! Anybody who complains about his grading being tough is certainly not ready for a career in the real world. He is very realistic and fair when it comes to his grading, If you are an Engineering major then take his class, because you will be inspired!!
About a year ago I started hallucinating when waking up. I'd wake up to orbs floating around, a cat on my pillow, and even my deceased uncle looking out the window. One night I saw my dad approaching me with a spear and yelling a tribal chant. My real life nightmares seemed to have subsided since then, until I took this class.
1 pop quiz on shell method, extremely picky grader so beware. Once took an exam with all answers right and still had a 90% due to how picky he is. Asides that, he is a very good professor, teaches the material quite well and as long as YOU SHOW UP TO CLASS, put in the TIME for the HOMEWORK you would be fine.89.9% is a B to him. Extra credits exist.
Hope you didn't plan on passing. There's no reason pre-calc should be significantly harder than any actual calc classes I've taken. Tests are on completely random material; some taught, some not.
Had a very hard time in this class. Give tons of homework but does not collect. Talks too much, never interacts with students. Very tough grader even if the answer is correct looks at steps taken and takes off points on very little things. Do not take this professor.
I feel like its my job to help other fellow students to not take his class. Its his mission to take points on ridiculous things. Extremely tough grader and besides tests are so hard that you need miracle to get an A. Wonder how he got 3.2 rating.
This guy teaches the material well but is the hardest grader you can imagine. Its not a matter of if you have the right concept, rather its the small details he'll deduct points from. You'll learn a lot from him but if you don't see math the way he does, then be prepared to sacrifice your GPA. I should also say that he doesn't allow calculator use.
He's not a bad guy, he helps his students, and he's laid back, but his lectures are boring.
Lenard's like an amazing grandpa. Talks to himself during lectures. SUPER good at explaining concepts. Gives a good bit of extra credit. Fair grader. Loves helping you outside of class. If I took Calc 2 with any other teacher, I probably wouldn't have gotten an A. DEFINITELY would take again. (don't skip steps in your work)
He gives lectures before tests on new material gets you really confused. Doesnt explain the material good. Sometimes doesnt give enough time for quizzes. Really boring lectures. Dont take this class with this professor
heard he is AMAZING for pre calc but I had him for calc, absolutly horrible. Asks you to answer your own questions (which i understand is to benefit us) BUT i'm asking the question for a reason!!! he knows his stuff, in class work simple. test taking the extremes of all you learned. impossible, no, in class stuff helpful, no. DO ALL HW TO PASS
If your goal in Math/Engineering is to learn, esp courses like calulus, I highly recommend taking him. Very helpful during office hours. Tests are honestly based off the "concepts" of HW problems (not exactly the HW problems). If you know the HW problems well, you will do well. I thought I knew math walking into his class, but he amazed me.
His tests are similar to the HW problems, if your HW concepts are solid, and very precise in notations, and I mean VERY PRECISE on your notations, You will do extremly well. Tough grader. His way of teaching math one-on-one is by far better than any tutor or PROF I have come across. You will learn the difficult concepts well, but be willing to try!
All the people who say DONT take him, please dont take their advice. He is a copacetic math instructor, I have seen other tutors and math instructors getting advice on math from him. There is no other teacher besides my algebra 2 teacher who have actually taught me math, he's definitely on that list for me. This prof has offciailly taught me math!!
Ive waited a couple years to post this to see how this professor would compare to other high level math and science profess at the senior level. I really do have to say that Ive never had a professor as difficult as Anthony Lenard and Ive taken many classes. He is not understanding with grading and will make the course so stressful and confusing
The issue I found with this class was the difficulty of homework in comparison to the in-class examples. The class examples are extremely simple, but the homework is at least ten times harder. I needed the solution manual for about 80 % of the problems. The tests are also extremely hard for me at least because of the grading systems he applies.
I truly believe that if I took this course at my college, I would have a borderline A. This professor knows his stuff, but he has no business teaching. Players can play, but not all players can be coaches. He simply isn't cut out to help students. If i wanted to learn calculus myself, I wouldn't have paid to be TAUGHT. Simply terrible.
Professor Lenard is a very smart guy who is an acquired taste. It is a difficult class but he sets the tone from the beginning of the semester. There are no surprises. Quiz questions are taken directly from homework problems in book, so make sure to do every assigned problem. I skipped the hw and my grade reflected it.
