Great professor. He knows exactly what he's talking about, and loves the subject. Lots of good discussions, and stimulating assignments. Critical thinking is, well...a critical skill in his class.
fun class
Class is ok. There is alot of reading and you get quizzed daily so if you not up to reading for homework everytime, you've been warned. Other than that the material is intersting and most times class is enjoyable.
This class is a joke! It's so easy! All you have to do is read the homework assignments and take a quiz for each reading. The quizzes are eay and you only take two big test such as the Odysseus and the final. Everything is graded equally and it's fun, I have a 120 in that class! Great Guy!
Prof. Leuzzi is an amazing teacher! I looked forward to going to his class every Tuesday and Thursday. He's young enough to know how to have fun with the class; but at the same time, he also makes each student work hard to earn their grade. I think he's one of the best at MCC!!
mr. leuzzi is one of mcc's finest if not the absolute finest. he expects nothing but the best and returns it. he had a profound influence on my academic career. he challenged me to challenge myself. a brilliant, funny, and inspiring teacher. in the words of tina turner "simply the best"
Leuzzi Is the best teacher at mcc, he pushes you to your limit and makes sure that you are doing your very best every step of the way.
The best professor I have had. He changes the way you think about things completely. Instead of getting caught up in the metaphor, one is able to see the true meaning of what religions are actually trying to say. I loved his class, but if you don't want to work hard, don't bother coming. He expects dedication and in return you should see an A.
This was a totally awesome class! Prof. Leuzzi is a fantastic teacher. He demands careful reading and expects hard work. My critical thinking skills would still be non-existant had I not taken this class, and I feel my writing is vastly improved as well. Loved the material, too!
You've got to be kidding. He's one of the worst teachers I have ever had! There is nothing worse than a pretentious little man who talks down to his students. And he screamed in some kids face for mispronouncing his name! He covers very unconventional mythology, but not worth it. If you are going to take his class, just remember- "It's lay-OOT-zee"
The class was really boring. I don't like to discuss for 3 hours how great the book was. He's pretty mean if you don't understand something. He even threw a student out for not reading. He's really dedicated to his teaching. The class should be easy only if you read all the assignments carefully.
I HATED HIM! HE WAS CONVINCED THAT EVERY POEM WAS EITHER ABOUT SEX OR GOD!!! VERY NARROW-MINDED!!!
Personally, I hated him. He was a jerk to me. But, whatever.
Great teacher. He demands a lot, but it pays off big when you achieve his expectations.

One of the best professors I have ever had. He is very charismatic, and able hold the focus of the class.
Great teacher. Very demanding, but clear. Helpful. Charismatic. Engaging. He expects you to try your best, and that is it. If you are lazy, dont take this class. If you do not want to learn how to interpret poetry, do not take this class. Easy if you work, and also intriguing.

Very good class, very interesting. It's not easy, but I love it. He's got to be the best professor I've had so far. You can tell he really cares about the subject.
Tony Leuzzi is very dedicated and interested in his the subject matters he teaches. It comes out in every, single lesson he teaches. It made me really want to try my best and work hard. I thought his class was awesome - and it is definitely worth taking!!
I had him in the fall of 2004. He was awesome!Quizzes were easy and only gave two finals. Expect an A if you work hard.
Good teacher, challanges you, hard grader.
Tony was excellent as a professor. He is not an easy grader, but if you do the work and understand the material you will have no problems in any of his classes.
Awesome professor. One of the best at MCC. Makes material extremely interesting, cares a great deal about what he is teaching, and picks an amazing assortment of texts to read for the semester. Class recquires a lot of work and a lot of effort, but it definitely pays off. Take one of his classes if you get the opportunity.
I was not looking forward to this class but Tony made it as interesting as ENG 101 can be. Engaging discussions, interesting material, very passionate, a phenomenal teacher. I wish I could've fit one of his classes in my schedule for this semester. Grades hard, but if you do well you've earned it.
He's really passionate which makes for a fun class

TAKING A CLASS WITH PROFESSOR IS THE WORST DECISION ANYBODY COULD EVER MAKE. EVER.
He's a great professor. He may seem like a jerk during the first week, but stick with him, because he gets a lot better. He loves the material, and he's really interesting. Take his class!
Kept my class interesting. However, I happen to be a Republican and his political talks during class offended me a lot at times. Classes could do without them.
He was a great teacher for some and not so much for others. He was very passionate about his the material we covered in class, but I thought his opinions were too strong, even though were in college. We did cover a lot of material in a short amount of time though.
Great professor! He may seem harsh the first couple weeks, but stick with him, because he's great. I really enjoyed his class.
This guy is great. He's really interesting. He gets the discussion going in class. He seems like a hard-ass on the first day, but stick with him, because he gets a lot better. His class was challenging, but just keep up with the work and it's all good. He was just an awesome professor. I can't wait to take another course with him.

very passionate. great class discussions. however, i was disappointed in his approach to poetry and poetic form. his focus should have been forms and devices and instead it was theme and metaphor. i didnt take alot away from his honors course. crucial info was presented almost at the end of the semester.
Hey has an attitude as if he is above us all and belongs in an IV League college and talked negative about students at a community college level yet he is a teacher their and not a harvard or yale..enough said on that it speaks for itself
Really good professor...you receive the grade you earned, he's not very lenient. Show up, and put some college-level effort forth and you'll do fine. If you're looking to slack, you won't do so hot. It's pretty straight forward.
I drop this class i felt as though i wasn't learning anything and he very rude. Not understanding and has some kind of thing about writing about men that all we wrote about. Almost the whole class drop. he locked the door a min after the class starts and will not let you in.
He is extremely strict for being an ENG 101 teacher. Im sorry but don't be so picky when grading papers, we are not perfect.
I had him for Lit of the Holocaust and he was very very strict. Though he is a really nice guy when you talk to him outside of class, he's tough to work with in the class room. He yells a lot and often gets upset with our class. He has a quiz every class, and sometimes the questions are quite hard, making it a hard course to get an A in.
Pretty pretentious for a guy. Doesn't tolerate lateness but will keep you in class late so he can keep talking. Not horrible, but not the greatest either.
One of the worst teachers i have ever had. Very arrogant and close minded. He contradicts himself and grades very harshly. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I will repeat again. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Easy class as long as you do the assigned reading. Tests are somewhat involved and tedious (5 essay questions) but he gives you as much time as you need. Class discussions are involved and engaging.
The first day of class I couldn't stand him, but he grew on me! I think he does have some strong opinions, but he will also listen to yours. The class was like a book discussion. I enjoyed it (Lit of the Holocaust)
wheni first et him i thought he was very opinionated and a hard ass. but as classes went on he always made sure to put himself in the same boat as us and made us all equal. he explained things very well and always questioned things so we understood better and answered our own questions better. i would have him as a professor again.
Everyone who said this teacher was good, was wrong. Worst human, extremely rude to me and all my friends. Put me in a permanently bad mood for the day after his class, and also does not know how to pronouce the word "Holocaust" correctly, and the class was "Literature of the Holocaust". Easily the most annoying and frustrating teacher ever
I got a really good education with him. He kept the standards high and the class discussion was excellent. He welcomed everyone's opinions but would make sure they were challenged and questioned.
I have had Leuzzi for two semesters. You will be successful if you show up on time and actually put the effort into papers and participation. He will be as passionate about your learning as you are. He is strict (but so what??) is worth the education! I have learned so much from sitting in his class a mere hour and a half.
Best teacher I have ever had. He is very strict but he takes teaching seriously and doesn't let you not take his class seriously. If you want to grow from taking a class and expand outside of your comfort zone he will make you do it. Anyone who complains is a slacker and will flunk past 13th grade because he teaches like it's real college.
Offered a lot of insight!
He's ok if you're an avid fan of English and write a lot outside of class. Can be opinionated and gets annoyed if you don't participate enough or miss class too much. It's an intro class but he still expected a lot from his students' writing like a normal level Creative Writing class. Loved going to the Billy Collins poetry reading though.
very strict grading for papers, quiz EVERY CLASS!! Ruined my 4.0 by giving me an A-!! First one in 5 SEMESTERS!!! Got my First D on a take home paper that took me like 8 hours to write!! Way too critical for an elective 100 level course!! It was lit of the Holocaust so lots of reading, interesting topic, terrible teacher!!!
Challenging class but very interesting. Your expected to read every page assigned & have a quiz on it in the beggining of each class. Cant have your cell even visible, & hard grader. But overall I became a way better writer bc of this teacher & if you do as expected you will suceed. Tip:I had him proof read all my papers before turning in& got an A
Was so strict I ended up dropping the class to pick up next semester. Made me feel stupid after working so hard on my assignments. Not a fan.
Very rude. Not friendly. Not a fan.
Extremely strict, but an amazing teacher. Clearly has passion for what he does, but doesn't mess around. Learned more from his class then I did all through high school! Highly recommend if you can handle sarcasm!
Professor Leuzzi is what most professors fail to be, and that's thorough! Strict is used for those with no sense of humor and lack the ability to lessen plot summary! He is an English Professor guys come on!! He tought us right and with firmness. He made sure that we learned and right! Survival of the fittest. You must be willing to work!
Horribly strict grader, but very good class discussion. He can be an ass, and its always best for your grade to just agree with him- especially on reactions to guest speakers. I learned a huge amount, but lost faith in my writing ability.
Not even halfway through semester and I probably will drop. Extremely opinionated. Not at all an intro to creative writing class. All he wants is prose poetry and to read from a stupid book. He told me if grades are my motivating factor he is less interested to help me. Taking all of it to the English board. STAY AWAY.
I had fun in this class and learned a lot.
He was passionate! I was initially hesitant about taking literature because it bores me but he was never boring.
Show up to class and do the readings and you will be fine, he can be a tough grader, but is laid back too. He is def. in depth with literature, class discussions are about what you read, does not assign a terrible amount of reading and can be very funny. He makes sure you understand everything you read before moving on. Overall great teacher.
He's very big on being on time and doing the assigned reading. Quiz on reading every class. Essays for in class tests, but he let's you prepare for them ahead of time. I found him to be pretty unbiased especially considering the content he was teaching. Major kudos to him for pulling that off.
This class was fun! I needed an English elective so I took it. I never had much confidence about sharing my work before but the teacher and the rest of the students made it easy to do that.
He is extremely opinionated in ways that aren't always constructive. He has moments of being helpful and generally open-minded but more often than not, I left lectures with a bad taste in my mouth. He was oppressive with his opinion and would shun students for disagreeing with him even if it was on a creative opinion. Very disappointing.
Leuzzi has sass to spare. He throws it wherever he can. However, he truly cares about his students. DON'T EVER FORGET HOMEWORK! If you didn't do it, don't show up.
Not willing to help very sarcastic i hate him i wish i could drop but i cant v.v never take him again
Good professor, read his articles and you'll pass. He can be sarcastic at times and is a tough grader but overall his class was enjoyable. Pay close attention!!! Also he's always there to help you but you just have to ask for it. Gave me a few chances to improve when he didn't see what he wanted within my papers.
A great professor, reading is something he takes very seriously. He may seem mean at times but overall he is a fantastic professor. I seriously recommend his English 113 course. Very willing to help outside of class. If you enjoy writing then he is a man you'd love to meet.
Leuzzi is a great professor. Talented, funny and perceptive, taking his class will help you grow as a writer. Discussion is great and like every English professor I've encountered at MCC, his passion is infectious. These are great writers whose teaching is relaxed, fluid and inspiring.
Professor Leuzzi is an excellent teacher. He is non-traditional. In addition, each session with him is exciting and unpredictable. He is definitely good at bringing out the writing skill within you. He is a coach, he is there if you need him and his teaching style somehow encourages you to do your best. S.R
If you are serious about writing, you want to take a class with Leuzzi. You can tell he loves what he does and has a genuine passion for it. I enjoyed the assigned readings and the discussions that followed. He gives great feedback on your writing... He wants you to really apply yourself in his class, which is not a bad thing.
Leuzzi is a knowledgeable professor, but he lacked empathy and was just too self-obsessed. Student's opinions were often shot down by his own ideologies. You could tell many were stressed out throughout the duration of the class. The class was easy if you did your work and showed up but I regret picking him as a professor.
ok so like, just imagine ted mosby from HIMYM, except a poet. a little bit dramatic, takes himself very seriously, pretty much your typical holier than thou college english professor. DO NOT miss class or come in late. make sure you do readings, there will be short quizzes almost every day. good writing prompts, but be prepared to share.
I thought i was taking a WR class but it was basically public speaking. The first week was cool as we did some fun writing excercises. After that we didn't ever do it again. Nothing but debates about reading assignments. If you miss 3 classes you'll be withdrawn no matter how many days are left in the semester. 10/10 would not recommend.
He's an AMAZING professor. If you care about writing, if you really want to leave feeling like you learned something take his class but take it with passion. He is very 'snoody' or judgy? I'm sure he'd have the right word it. You'll have writing assignments almost every class due. You'll learn to love them, and you'll see a vast improvement.
The professor cared about students doing well. You have to work but the experience is rewarding.
Leuzzi was rude and condescending.
He knew what he was talking about and he cared how we did in the class.
People said he was tough but he was actually pretty reasonable if you stay on top of the work. Very helpful comments. I learned more from this class than others.
Very passionate and caring.
liked the class, it wasnt all bad. sometimes i looked forward to it, but hes a bit incompetent and rude if you dont understand the books or the topic. He speaks like hes better than everyone if you know that voice. and will make you feel dumb if you have the guts to raise your hand but your answer isnt to his liking. good luck
He cares about the subject and about your growth. The syllabus was a little hard to follow at first, but he's good with reaching out to amend any further problems. He makes sure every student gets their time to share their work with the class, though he also has a tendency to go off on tangents that eat up class time. Overall, a joy to study under.
He gave a lot of feedback on papers and extra time to submit weekly assignments.
A short paper each weekend, then in-class discussions of the stories. I liked it in theory, but many students were not engaged. I felt that Leuzzi steered conversations too heavily toward what he wanted to say, sometimes dismissing alternative interpretations he didn't agree with. Overall a fine class. I liked the stories. Easy A if you do the work
The class overall is pretty straight-forward, if you do your work, you'll be fine. The professor however, is obnoxious and annoying. he talks for most of the class. He definitely shows bias toward certain people in the class, whether is dismissing your viewpoints and sometimes openly mocking your point.
Good professor who is very straight forward with things. Fun classroom atmosphere with a few in class quizzes. Weekly papers every week with a straight forward prompt. Made learning about literature fun.
I dont love this guy
